The “Experts” Are Wrong Again on Trump’s Tariff Agenda

From the moment it became clear Donald Trump would become the 47th President of the United States, perhaps no policy issue has elicited as much handwringing, panic, and doomsday predictions from the “expert” class as Trump’s sweeping tariff agenda. Despite the mounting hysteria, these predictions are not only factually misguided, but also willfully overlook America’s rich history of successful tariffs and protectionist trade policies.

Without interruption, the corporate media, the Democrat Party establishment, and Old Guard Republicans have issued a series of apocalyptic forecasts that could befall the American people if Trump’s tariff agenda is successfully implemented—from increased prices on consumers to soaring grocery and drug costs and outright “chaos” and “economic nightmare.”

Trump’s pro-tariff campaign platform in 2016 elicited similar predictions from many purported economic experts and free trade absolutists who feared a departure from what was then conventional Republican trade policy. But not only did Trump’s trade platform help unleash an economic boom, it also signaled a return to the beginnings of the American conservative movement rather than a departure from it.

From 1790 to 1914, tariffs made up the main source of federal revenue and served as an indispensable component of American foreign policy. In fact, the first major piece of legislation passed in the United States after the ratification of the Constitution was the Tariff Act of 1789, which was enacted in large part to protect the emerging American manufacturing industry.

As Robert Lighthizer, former U.S. trade representative under President Trump (who is also expected to have a major role in the second Trump administration) observed in the early 2010s, “For most of its 157-year history, the Republican Party has been the party of building domestic industry by using trade policy to promote U.S. exports and fend off unfairly traded imports. American conservatives have had that view for even longer.” From Alexander Hamilton to Presidents William McKinley and Calvin Coolidge, tariffs and other protectionist economic policies have long been defining elements of the American conservative tradition.

In 2016, after decades of economic failures wrought by a rigid Republican commitment to unfettered international trade, the Trump administration’s tariff-based approach sought to return the party to its roots. As Trump understood, tariffs are effective not only in that they force other countries to pay for foreign imports, but also in that they bring manufacturing back to American shores and protect the economic interests of America’s working class.

Throughout his first four years in office, Trump imposed tariffs on $1.8 billion in imports of washing machines, $8.5 billion in imports of solar panels, and hundreds of billions of dollars worth of Chinese goods. He also instituted additional tariffs on foreign aluminum and steel products and later authorized $28 billion in aid, which was funded in full by the tariffs paid by China, for farmers who had long been subjected to detrimental trade policies.

Trump also negotiated with Japan to cut tariffs and open its market to $7 billion in American agricultural products, which was of notable benefit to American farmers. After successive administrations shelled out taxpayer dollars to foreign countries, Trump finally ensured American producers were taken care of first.

Despite headlines that insisted Trump’s tariffs would “Hurt America More Than China” and “hurt the U.S. economy rather than benefit American workers,” research has found that the vast majority of the cost increases from Trump’s tariffs on Chinese goods were paid by the Chinese consumers rather than American consumers. As Peter Navarro, former Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy in the Trump White House, explained, China paid for the tariffs in three ways: by “cutting their prices,” crushing their currency value, and dealing with a “fleeing” supply chain. As Lighthizer wrote for The Economist, “The backlash from farmers and others that was predicted by pundits never happened.”

Furthermore, the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration triggered an exodus of American companies out of China, curbing Chinese investment. Consequently, even Biden Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo was forced to concede that Trump’s tariffs were “effective” in their protection of American manufacturing industries. Notably, Biden kept—and in some cases even increased—Trump’s preexisting China tariffs.

Throughout the course of his 2024 campaign, Trump once again advanced a broad tariff agenda, calling specifically to “phase in a system of universal, baseline tariffs on most foreign products” to build up American industries.

“As tariffs on foreign producers go up, taxes on American producers will go down and go down very substantially. And that means a lot of jobs coming in,” Trump said in a policy video. “Not only will this system end our gaping trade deficits—and they are massive right now—and bring back millions of American jobs—it will also bring trillions and trillions of dollars pouring into the U.S. Treasury from foreign countries and allow us to invest that money in American workers, American families, and American communities.”

Trump has also detailed plans to revoke China’s “most favored nation” trade status and adopt new rules preventing American companies from “pouring investments into China, along with calling for the passage of the “Trump Reciprocal Trade Act,” under which “other countries will have two choices—they’ll get rid of their tariffs on us, or they will pay us hundreds of billions of dollars, and the United States will make an absolute fortune.”

“There will be no more unilateral economic surrender like we’ve done for many, many decades,” Trump has further said. According to some reports, Trump is even considering imposing tariffs as a means to end the federal income tax—which would mark a historic return to the nation’s 19th century economic attitude.

Following the successes of Trump’s trade war and reinstatement of tariffs in foreign and economic policy, the path forward for the nation should be strikingly clear. Rather than remaining inflexibly tied to the international trade policies that have sparked decades’ worth of American economic decay and led to a hollowing out of our manufacturing industry and the loss of millions of jobs, the American ruling class should follow President Trump’s America First economic model of low taxes on Americans and increased tariffs on foreign producers.

During an October discussion on tariffs with Bloomberg’s editor-in-chief and “free trade” absolutist John Micklethwait, Trump delivered a well-deserved swing at the economic expert class—including Micklethwait himself—for defending globalist trade policies and imperiling American industries for generations. “They’ve been wrong about everything,” Trump said of the economic establishment. “So have you, by the way, you’ve been wrong. You’ve been wrong all your life on this stuff.”

Starting this January, the establishment class of globalist elites bemoaning the use of tariffs will almost certainly be reminded that they are wrong yet again—and that a strong tariff platform will not only further the interests of American industries, American workers, and American families, but also ensure enduring American prosperity.

New “Supplement” Introduced into Cattle Feed to Reduce Methane in Cow Flatulence

UK: Bovaer is a new animal feed additive/ supplement in cattle feed to reduce animal methane gas emissions for the purpose of reducing phony global warming. Bovaer is an organic compound that works by suppressing the enzyme in the cow’s rumen that forms methane. Arla Foods, which owns the UK’s biggest dairy co-operative, announced last week that it will begin using Bovaer and is working with grocery chain stores Aldi, Morrisons and Tesco. There has been customer backlash against Arla products and the grocery stores as people reject manipulated foods.

Arla said Bovaer “does not filter through to humans when they consumer dairy products”. Bovaer was authorised in the UK in December 2023, according to DSM, and is available for sale in 68 countries. However, many people are still skeptical that Bovaer is safe for the animals that consume it and humans who eat animal products.

In the United States, Bovaer has teamed up with Elanco and farmers can receive carbon credits for using the product to add to their revenue. In addition to the carbon marketplace, the US Department of Agriculture has awarded $89 million in funding to support farms using technologies like Bovaer to reduce their methane emissions. It has not been announced whether farmers in the US are utilizing the product that was approved for use.

Kash Patel is an American lawyer and former federal prosecutor at the US Department of Justice. Steve Friend is an FBI whistleblower who was punished for revealing bias in the prosecution of January 6th defendants. He said that the FBI has a quota system so they are looking at American people as targets instead of protecting citizens. He said that the FBI strayed from its protocols during the prosecution of January 6 defendants and began manipulating the management of the cases to increase crime and terror statistics to create the false impression that terrorism is ubiquitous across the United States. Additionally, he said the FBI withheld evidence from the defense. Mr. Friend was also critical of the FBI using SWAT teams to arrest J6 suspects even when they were cooperative.

The FBI created the illusion of ‘domestic extremists’ and terrorists to make work for themselves. Mr. Friend revealed that the FBI entrapped people and labeled concerned parents as extremists. The FBI is also targeting critics of the government.

Earth planning date: Monday, Dec. 2, 2024

Today, after a weeklong holiday break, the team was eager to take a look at Curiosity’s new workspace.

After driving 51 meters (about 167 feet) alongside Texoli butte (pictured) we had a whole host of new rocks to examine, and it was one of those curiously perfect planning days where everything falls into place.

Our team of geologists here on Earth was busy studying the images our Martian geologist had downlinked to Earth prior to planning, and we scheduled 1.5 hours of science activities on the first sol of this plan.

An interesting and varied workspace today saw lots of instruments working together to study the rocks in-depth — teamwork really does make the dream work.

To begin, we are targeting a vertical rock face called “Coronet Lake” near the rover.

Coronet Lake has a cluster of nodules on show and we are getting information on the composition of these nodules with APXS and a ChemCam LIBS, as well as a close-up image with our MAHLI instrument.

We also have a second MAHLI activity scheduled on a flat rock called “Excelsior Mountain.” Our observant team spotted an interesting-looking rock named “Admiration Point.”

This rock may have fallen from the nearby Texoli butte, or could be a meteorite. To test these hypotheses further, we are targeting Admiration Point with a Mastcam mosaic and a ChemCam passive.

ChemCam and Mastcam work together again on a target named “Olancha,” an area of rocks that could contain evidence of deformation from when the rocks first formed.

Olancha will be targeted with a ChemCam long-distance RMI and a Mastcam mosaic.

Mastcam is finishing off the geological observations here with mosaics of “Angels Camp,” a rock containing veins where water may have once flowed, “Bare Island Lake,” a gray rock containing interesting polygonal ridges, and a trough feature close to Coronet Lake.

ChemCam is taking another look back at Gediz Vallis channel to see a transition between light- and dark-toned rocks with a long-distance RMI, and we are rounding off this plan with our standard environmental observations.

As the Geology and Mineralogy theme group Keeper of the Plan for today’s planning, I made sure that this sol was packed full of science activities that the team wanted to schedule.

After this busy first sol, Curiosity will be driving about 50 meters (about 164 feet), continuing to make our way out of Gediz Vallis, and we are all very excited to see what the rest of the sulfate-bearing unit has to offer us.

President-elect Trump on Wednesday announced he picked Jared Isaacman to lead the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under his incoming administration.

“Jared will drive NASA’s mission of discovery and inspiration, paving the way for groundbreaking achievements in Space science, technology, and exploration,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, citing Isaacman’s ability to lead as the founder and chief executive of Shift4, a payment processing company.

The tech entrepreneur also worked with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in September to test the company’s new spacesuits on the first private spacewalk.

Isaacman helped fund the flight and was one of four people aboard.

That trip was the first of three that Isaacman purchased from Musk, after he returned from his first private spaceflight in 2021.

Isaacman is also the co-founder and chief executive of Draken International, a private fighter jet company and contractor for the Defense Department.

“Jared’s passion for Space, astronaut experience, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of exploration, unlocking the mysteries of the universe, and advancing the new Space economy, make him ideally suited to lead NASA into a bold new Era,” Trump wrote in the statement.

He added, “Congratulations to Jared, his wife Monica, and their children, Mila & Liv!”

If confirmed, Isaacman would replace current NASA administrator and former Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.).

But what astonished me more was that during the attacks on him, during the struggle against him, not only was he subjected to degrading, unfounded procedures, legal charges, and so on,but his family members and children were targeted.

Our gangsters do not engage in such behaviour. When criminal groups clash among themselves, they do not involve women and children; they leave them be, men fight among themselves. But these individuals did involve them, can you believe it? It is so repugnant that it underscores once morethe complete disarray of today’s American political system.

Nevertheless, the country remains great, unquestionably. We are open to dialogue with the United States, including with the future administration.

Jeanne Stagg, a whistleblower who worked in Inpatient Utilization Management, approached Project Veritas after seeing cases coded as COVID-19 that she says should not have COVID-19 listed as the "primary diagnosis."
Stagg: "I've tried to raise awareness to my leadership and even with the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Department, and it just kind of fell on deaf ears."
The Chief Medical Officer for united healthcare of Louisiana (Medicaid) opined in a recorded phone conversation that the Medicaid rate for reimbursement of COVID-19 patients, which is faster and significantly higher, could be the motivation for the improper "primary diagnosis" codes.
"Oh, yes. Yeah. I would think that there's some motivation that it's driving higher rates of reimbursement or quicker reimbursement, or something, because otherwise there's no reason to put, you know, something like that as a leading diagnosis in an asymptom– basically asymptomatic patients," said Dr. Morial, Chief Medical Officer for united healthcare of Louisiana.
The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has suspended utilization review which is the process of determining whether health care is medically necessary for a patient or an insured individual. The whistleblower says this could be a major contributing factor to spikes in COVID numbers, which then influence public health decisions.

[Baton Rouge, La. - Feb. 2, 2022] A source who works for united healthcare of Louisiana's Inpatient Utilization Management Department is blowing the whistle on COVID-19 cases possibly being inflated for financial incentive. The brazen instance of such potential abuse was a patient who had multiple gunshot wounds with his primary diagnosis listed as COVID-19.

united healthcare of Louisiana is the states' Medicaid arm, and as the whistleblower Jeanne Stagg points out in a conversation with the Chief Medical Officer of united healthcare of Louisiana, Dr. Julie Morial, there are several financial incentives for hospitals to prefer to code patients as COVID-19 hospitalizations.

"Well maybe that's… maybe that's driving some of the motivation," said Dr. Morial before stating that the Medicaid rate for reimbursement of COVID-19 patients is both higher and faster.

Project Veritas also published footage of a leadership call within united healthcare of Louisiana wherein the whistleblower's attempt to discuss the improper primary diagnoses she is seeing was dismissed.

A major element of this story is the fact that recent actions by public officials have allowed the problem to persist, and the whistleblower believes erroneous codes could be the cause of COVID-19 spikes which influence major public health decisions.

A health plan advisory, which announced that all utilization management for all medical hospitalizations [including but not limited to initial service authorization and concurrent reviews], must be suspended was the action taken – which is in question.

"Now, this is not specific to COVID-19. This is every single hospital admission. We're not allowed to do medical necessity review. So, it gives the hospitals free reign to admit anything they want. Code it however they want," says the whistleblower, Jeanne Stagg.

united healthcare of Louisiana's Dr. Morial was contacted for comment on this story and said, "When I see a patient, and if a patient is presenting other symptoms that aren't suggestive of a COVID infection, even though they may test positive for COVID, that's not my primary diagnosis."

Jeff Bezos is set to launch a shiny new space station to replace the International Space Station after Elon Musk helps destroy it.

After 32 years of service, the ISS will be brought crashing down to Earth in 2031 at the end of its operational life.

The largest single structure we've ever put in space, it's allowed scientists to conduct ground-breaking experiments in microgravity.

And, in what sounds like the mission of his dreams, Elon Musk's SpaceX has won a $843 million NASA contract to help bring down the ISS.

The ground-breaking research facility is set to be replaced, though - and this is where Jeff Bezos comes in.

While China already has its Tiangong space station in space, multi-billionaire Bezos is set to launch the first-ever commercially-owned and operated space station in low-Earth orbit.

What is Orbital Reef?

Bezos' space company, Blue Origin, was awarded $130 million by NASA to develop Orbital Reef, a 8,200 cubic foot station almost as big as the ISS.

It will allow the ground-breaking research carried out on the ISS to continue - with some added extras.

In partnership with Sierra Space - as well as, unsurprisingly, Amazon, Boeing, and others - it will offer commercial space activities and act as a space tourism hub.

The station will only be able to support 10 people initially, but modules will be added to support further operations.

These include science modules, with support for microgravity research, development, and manufacturing.

Meanwhile, Blue Origin described the station on its website: "Think spacious modules with large windows to view Earth… while experiencing the thrill of weightlessness in complete comfort.

"Distinct quarters will be designed for personal and business use, and large hatches create a safe and inspiring environment."

It continued: "We aim to provide a truly extraordinary experience, whether you are in orbit for research, logistics, tourism, or other applications."

Amazon is set to sort logistics and supply chain management, while Sierra Space will provide Large Integrated Flexible Environment (LIFE) modules, node modules, and a runway-landing Dream Chaser spaceplane for crew and cargo transportation.

A Boeing Starliner crew spacecraft will also help transport personnel, while the company will supply science modules, space station operations and maintenance.

Orbital Reef is projected to launch in 2027 and will reportedly cost upwards of $100 billion in total.

It's due to be fully operational by 2030, just before the ISS is brought to its end.

Webb finds surprises in Spiderweb protocluster field

Using the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope, an international team of astronomers have found new galaxies in the Spiderweb protocluster.

Their characteristics reveal that new galaxies are forming in these large cosmic cities, with the finding that gravitational interactions in these dense regions are not as important as previously thought.

Astronomers explore galaxy populations and uncover their physical characteristics across large-scale structures to better understand the build-up of galaxies and how their environments shape their assembly.

The Spiderweb protocluster is a well-studied object in the early Universe. Its light has travelled over 10 billion years to reach us, and it shows us a galaxy cluster in formation, composed of more than a hundred known galaxies.

With the use of Webb’s capabilities, astronomers have now sought to better understand this protocluster and to reveal new galaxies inside it.

Infrared light passes more freely through cosmic dust than visible light, which is scattered by the dust. Because Webb can see well in the infrared, scientists used it to observe regions of the Spiderweb that were previously hidden to us by cosmic dust, and to find out to what degree this dust obscures them.

“We are observing the build-up of one the largest structures in the Universe, a city of galaxies in construction,” explained Jose M. Pérez-Martínez of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias and the Universidad de La Laguna in Spain.

“We know that most galaxies in local galaxy clusters (the biggest metropolises of the Universe) are old and not very active, whereas in this work we are looking at these objects during their adolescence.

As this city in construction grows, their physical properties will also be affected. Now, Webb is giving us new insights into the build-up of such structures for the first time.”

With Webb, the team studied the hydrogen gas to reveal new, strongly obscured galaxies belonging to the cluster and to study how much they were obscured. This was accomplished using only about 3.5 hours of Webb’s observing time.

“As expected, we found new galaxy cluster members, but we were surprised to find more than expected,” explained Rhythm Shimakawa of Waseda University in Japan.

“We found that previously-known galaxy members (similar to the typical star-forming galaxies like our Milky Way galaxy) are not as obscured or dust-filled as previously expected, which also came as a surprise.”

“This can be explained by the fact that the growth of these typical galaxies is not triggered primarily by galaxy interactions or mergers that induce star-formation,” added Helmut Dannerbauer of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias in Spain.

“We now figure this can instead be explained by star formation that is fueled through gas accumulating at different locations all across the object’s large-scale structure.”

The team is planning to study the (new) galaxy cluster members in more detail and confirm their existance with spectroscopic observations using Webb.

Watch Europe's Vega-C rocket launch today on 1st flight since 2022

For the first time since the launch vehicle's catastrophic mission failure in 2022, Europe's Vega-C rocket is poised to return to flight today.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is scheduled to launch the Copernicus Sentinel-1C satellite today, lifting off from Kourou, French Guiana, during an instantaneous launch window Dec. 4, at 4:20 p.m. EST (2120 GMT, 22:20 CET — local time).

This will be the third mission for ESA's medium-lift rocket, and its first launch since a failure in the vehicle's second stage led to the complete loss of its last payload in October 2022. You can watch the launch live here courtesy of ESA.

Secured in Vega-C's fairing for this mission is Europe's Copernicus Sentinel-1C satellite.

The spacecraft is a replacement to complete a dual-satellite constellation with Sentinel-1A, following the unexpected failure of its partner satellite Sentinel-1B, which became inoperable after experiencing a technical fault in 2022.

Sentinel-1C will be launched into orbit on the opposite side of Earth from Sentinel-1A, to allow the pair a complete view of the Earth for high-resolution imagery.

Vega-C is a four-stage rocket that stands 115 feet (35 meters) tall. The first three of the launch vehicle's stages are powered by solid-rocket propellant, with its fourth stage using a liquid propellant for precision orbital insertions.

Shedding its weight after the mission clock begins counting up instead of counting down, Vega-C's first and second stage separations occur about 2.5 and 4.5 minutes after liftoff, with its third stage following suit just after 7 minutes into flight.

The rocket's upper stage will will fly Sentinel-1C to a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of about 435 miles (700 kilometers).

The first of three scheduled burns will begin approximately one minute after stage-three separation, followed by an hour-long coasting phase ahead of burns two and three — also separated by about one hour.

If each stage of the launch vehicle performs nominally, Sentinel-1C separation from the Vega-C upper stage will occur just shy of one hour and 44 minutes after liftoff.

"It is an important launch," said Giulio Ranzo, CEO of Avio, during a prelaunch media briefing, "very important because we will lift a flagship European satellite of the Copernicus constellation with a flagship European launcher."

Avio is contracted by ESA as Vega-C's primary designer. Vega-C's return to flight follows the premiere launch of ESA's larger Ariane 6 rocket over the summer, ultimately filling the gap in launch vehicle needs for smaller payloads and lessening Europe's reliance on other launch providers.

"We are very proud of having this capability made available, in particular to the European Commission, but in general, to all other government and non government institutions within Europe and abroad," Ranzo said.

Sentinels-1A and C are equipped with C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) instruments, which allow each to survey the Earth for a variety of environmental observations.

Sentinel-1C also features a new Automatic Identification System (AIS), for use by sea-faring ships on Earth to avoid collisions when they are out of range of land-based radar systems.

The total of data collected as a part of the Sentinel-1 program is extensive and ongoing, and stands to be greatly aided by the addition of Sentinel-1C.

"150,000 products based on Sentinel-1 data are published and made available to users, and since the beginning of the operations of the Sentinel-1, we have generated over 30 petabytes of data and more than 14 million products were made available," said Christoph Kautz, the European Commission's Director for satellite navigation and Earth observation for the Directorate-General for Defense Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) said during Monday's briefing.

Vega-C's two-year journey back to the launchpad required a design and manufacturing change to the vehicle's second stage rocket engine nozzle.

Now back in operation, Ranzo says the rocket has about 15 launches on its backlog to complete. And the hiatus in Vega-C from the rocket launch arena hasn't slowed ESA's innovations toward improvement.

The space agency has already begun designing an upgraded version of Vega-C, the Vega-E, based on a new liquid oxygen (LOX)-methane engine, the M-10, for its upper stage.

The M-10 is also being developed by Avio, which plans to sign implementation contracts with ESA before the end of the year, according to ESA's Director of Space Transportation Toni Tolker-Nielsen.

Earth from space: Crimea's 'putrid sea' creates beautiful rainbow of color but smells like rotten eggs

A deconstructed rainbow of around a dozen multicolor lagoons, collectively known as the "putrid sea," takes center stage in this stunning satellite image captured around a decade ago.

The variety of colors — ranging from raspberry, peach and mustard to lime green, beige and brilliant blue — are caused by several factors, including the microorganisms that live within the lagoons.

The lagoons stretch across the Sivash region — a roughly 3,900-square-mile (10,000 square kilometers) area of marshland across the northern Crimean Peninsula between the Black Sea to the west and the Sea of Azov to the east.

The latter is separated from the lagoons only by a narrow piece of land known as the Arabat Spit.

The colorful pools are mainly between 2 and 4 feet (0.6 and 1.2 meters) deep, with some deeper pools extending to depths of 10 feet (3 m).

They are all hypersaline, meaning that they contain high levels of minerals that make them salty, and have thick layers of silt across their bottoms, which can be up to 16 feet (5 m) thick.

The white color surrounding most lagoons in the image is a mix of salt and silt.

The array of colors in the different lakes' waters is partly due to their respective minerals, acidity and inhabiting vegetation.

However, the main driver of color is the species of algae that bloom in their waters, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

When the algae bloom in summer, they can give off a pungent, rotten egg-like smell, which has earned the region its foul nickname.

The array of colors in the different lakes' waters is partly due to their respective minerals, acidity and inhabiting vegetation.

However, the main driver of color is the species of algae that bloom in their waters, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

When the algae bloom in summer, they can give off a pungent, rotten egg-like smell, which has earned the region its foul nickname.

Researchers estimate that there are around 220 million tons (200 million metric tons) of different minerals in the Sivash lagoons.

As a result, the region is also home to a large chemical plant, which siphons off some of these minerals to help create useful chemicals, according to NASA's Earth Observatory.

The lagoons contain a range of wildlife and are protected by the International Convention of Wetlands (ICW).

The salty shallows are home to a variety of salt-resistant plant species, including sea lavender (Limonium caspium) and saltbush (Atriplex aucheri), and host to up to 1 million water birds that migrate to the area every winter, according to Ramsar which oversees the ICW.

The Sivash region has been part of Ukraine since the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

X-Bow Systems has won $60 million in Navy contracts to modernize solid rocket production facilities as the Pentagon looks to upgrade its aging defense manufacturing infrastructure.

The contracts will support improvements at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division in Maryland, using X-Bow’s 3D printing technologies to produce solid rocket motors and propellants.

The project is part of the Navy’s $2.7 billion, 15-year modernization plan for its industrial base.

Solid rocket motors are propulsion systems used in missiles, space launch vehicles, and other military applications.

The Indian Head facility, located in southern Maryland, has been a key defense manufacturing site since World War II, producing energetic materials and propulsion systems.

“Our work will increase production capacity of solid rocket motors to meet growing military needs,” Jason Hundley, X-Bow’s CEO, said Dec. 3 in a news release.

The contracts build on the company’s recent defense deals, including selection to develop solid propulsion for hypersonic missiles and for the Standard Missile program.

X-Bow in 2023 signed a 20-year agreement with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division to cooperate in the development and manufacturing of solid propellant rocket systems.

In 2019, King County expressed concern that the deportations under then-President Donald Trump could constitute human rights abuses.

SEATTLE — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement can continue using a Seattle airport for chartered deportation flights, a federal appeals court ruled in a decision that rejected a 2019 local order that sought to counter then-President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

The agency has long used airports around the country to charter flights deporting hundreds of thousands of noncitizens considered lawfully removable from the U.S.

But in 2019, in keeping with efforts in liberal Seattle and Washington state to resist Trump's priorities, King County Executive Dow Constantine issued an executive order expressing concern that the deportations could constitute human rights abuses. It announced that future leases at the county airport, also known as Boeing Field, would bar operators from servicing deportation flights.

The order prompted ICE to begin using an airport in Yakima — a much farther drive from ICE's Northwest detention center in Tacoma — for the deportation flights.

The U.S. sued King County in 2020, arguing that Constantine's order discriminated against the federal government by singling it and its contractors out for unfavorable treatment, and that it violated the terms of a World War II-era contract that guarantees the federal government's right to use the airport.

U.S. District Judge Robert J. Bryan agreed, and Constantine issued a new executive order superseding his old one early last year. The new order, which was not challenged, does not purport to block deportation flights but instead prevents King County resources from aiding in the deportations beyond what federal law requires.

The new order also calls for transparency around any deportation flights. The airport now offers a conference room where the public can observe deportation flights on a video feed, and the county posts a log of deportation flights from the airport on its website.

The deportation flights resumed by May 2023, following Bryan's decision and Constantine's second executive order. In a ruling Friday, a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld Bryan's ruling.

"The Executive Order effectively grants King County the 'power to control' ICE's transportation and deportation operations, forcing ICE either to stop using Boeing Field or to use government-owned planes there" — impermissibly overriding the federal government's discretion, 9th Circuit Judge Daniel A. Bress wrote for the panel.

King County said it would not further appeal the case.

"The Ninth Circuit's decision allows a raw assertion of federal power to overcome an expression of local values even absent any actual impact," Amy Enbysk, a spokeswoman for the King County Executive's Office, said in an emailed statement. "Although King County disagrees with the court's decision, it will of course follow the court's dictates."

The prosecutor general’s office claims the US-based quasi-religious organization supports “members of extremist and terrorist movements”

Russian authorities have designated the US-based Satanic Temple as an undesirable organization, claiming that the quasi-religious group justifies violence and supports extremist and terrorist entities.

Under Russian law, any foreign or international organization which is believed to pose a threat to the country’s security and political system can be labeled undesirable. This status essentially prohibits such entities from operating in Russia; their bank accounts are frozen and local branches are shut down. Those found in breach of the law could face fines or even prison sentences under certain circumstances.

Since the legislation came into force in 2015, numerous not-for-profit organizations have had to close their doors in Russia, including the Church of Scientology and the Jehovah's Witnesses.

In a statement on Wednesday, the prosecutor general’s office said that the “so-called Satanic Temple was registered in the US in 2012” by several Harvard University graduates. According to Russian officials, the group has 23 chapters in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Finland and several other nations. It is believed to have over 10 million members worldwide.

The Russian authorities claimed that the organization “promotes occult ideologies [and] uses Satanic imagery to discredit traditional spiritual-ethical values.” The Satanic Temple, which allegedly enjoys US government support, also justifies violence and “actively backs members of extremist and terrorist movements,” the prosecutor general’s office explained.

This discovery comes after House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.) fired off an August 9, 2024 letter to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Denis McDonough, demanding information regarding “allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and improper interpersonal relationships” at the VA hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee.

“To date, the Biden-Harris administration has not responded to this inquiry. To allow the Committee to fully investigate these disturbing allegations, VA should begin immediately providing answers to this inquiry on a rolling basis,” reads a September 5 Committee on Veterans’ Affairs press release.

“Since Chairman Bost’s first letter to you on this topic, on July 25, 2024, whistleblowers have been in communication with Committee staff and provided further details on the allegations and information regarding additional allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and improper interpersonal relationships at the Mountain Home VA, which facility leadership allegedly did not address properly, that were previously unknown to Committee staff. This new information is extremely disturbing and leads us to believe there may be a serious culture problem at the Mountain Home VA,” the Committee writes in its August letter to VA Secretary McDonough.

Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) and Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) provided comments to local WJHL in August on the investigation of the VA facility in their home state.

Harshbarger told the station, “I support the ongoing investigation led by Chairman Mike Bost and look forward to a timely discovery of the facts and resolution to the issue. Absolutely nothing should stand in the way of our Veterans getting the care that they deserve. My office remains open to all whistleblowers who wish to confidentially share any information regarding misconduct with any agency.”

Blackburn said, “The allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault at the VA Medical Center in Mountain Home are serious and disgusting, and American taxpayers deserve thorough and immediate answers from the Inspector General’s ongoing investigation. This is not the first time the VA has been the subject of scandal under the Biden-Harris administration, and any responsible parties must be held accountable.”

A Congressional aide familiar with the investigation told Breitbart, “The fact that the culture would even allow this to happen in the first place is absolutely wild and it all starts at the top.”

Kiev involved in Syrian conflict – Moscow

Foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has cited a report that Kiev’s intel may be working with terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham

A significant “Ukrainian trace” has been detected among foreign fighters in northwestern Syria, according to a top Russian diplomat. In a briefing on Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova cited a report that Ukraine’s intelligence services may have collaborated with the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The Kyiv Post has reported that Islamist groups involved in recent attacks in Aleppo province could have been prepred by the ‘Khimik’ Special Forces unit of Ukraine’s military intelligence service (HUR), which allegedly provided “operational training” to militants in Idlib province.

“This is not the first region where the Kiev regime applies its criminal experience,” Zakharova stated, as cited by newspaper Vedomosti, highlighting previous Ukrainian involvement in conflicts across Africa and now, reportedly, in Syria.

“Radicals are clearly trying to undermine years of efforts toward stability in this country, posing serious security risks for civilians, particularly in conflict zones,” Zakharova explained. She condemned the use of civilians as human shields, describing it as a disturbing tactic amid the ongoing violence.

Zakharova also suggested that these terrorist acts likely benefit from external support aimed at reigniting conflict in Syria. “We express our solidarity with the leadership and people of Syria in this challenging situation,” she said, reaffirming Moscow’s commitment to the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Advisory on the Long March 3B rocket launch

The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) confirms the launch of the Long March 3B rocket from the People’s Republic of China.

Expected debris from the rocket launch was projected to have fallen within the identified drop zones approximately 112 NM away from Rozul Reef and 151 NM away from Busuanga, Palawan.

The Long March 3B rocket was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan at around 1:55 PM PhST on 03 December 2024.

Details of the rocket drop zone were disclosed through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) warning of an “aerospace flight activity.”

PhilSA has disseminated a pre-launch report to relevant government agencies and authorities prior to the launch.

Unburned debris from rockets, such as the booster and fairing, are designed to be discarded as the rocket enters outer space.

While not projected to fall on land features or inhabited areas, falling debris poses danger and potential risk to ships, aircraft, fishing boats, and other vessels that will pass through the drop zone.

There is also a possibility for the debris to float around the area and wash toward nearby coasts.

Additionally, the possibility of an uncontrolled re-entry to the atmosphere of the rocket’s upper stages returning from outer space cannot be ruled out at this time.

PhilSA reiterates its advice for the public to inform local authorities if suspected debris is sighted.

PhilSA also cautions against retrieving or coming in close contact with these materials that may contain remnants of toxic substances such as rocket fuel.

He has made clear that he supports Taiwanese independence, breaking more than a half-century of official U.S. policy in the process. His “Taiwan Peace Through Strength Act” promotes direct military collaboration between the U.S. and Taiwan and calls for increased arms spending on the island.

Rubio was also one of the faces of the 2014 Hong Kong protest movement, a U.S.-backed attempt to wrest the island city from Chinese influence. He invited the movement’s leaders to Washington, D.C., and attempted to introduce legislation to force the United States into supporting Hong Kong’s independence.

At home, he has led the clampdown on Chinese businesses such as Huawei and has spearheaded a movement to uncover and stamp out China’s supposed undue influence over American media and educational institutions.

Unsurprisingly, then, the former Florida senator also supports a trade war and sanctions against China and, indeed, much of the world, including Russia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and Iran.

Unilateral sanctions, of course, are illegal under international law. However, Rubio believes the United States can and should use its economic might to crush countries resisting Washington’s dictates. The waning power of the dollar as the global reserve currency, though, makes this increasingly difficult. As Rubio lamented on Fox News last year, Brazil, the largest country in Latin America, signed a comprehensive trade agreement with China whereby goods and services would be paid for in local currencies rather than the dollar:

They’re creating a secondary economy in the world, totally independent of the United States. We won’t have to talk sanctions in five years, because there will be so many countries transacting in currencies other than the dollar, that we won’t have the ability to sanction them.”

U.S. Space Force launches Tokyo unit to bolster integrated deterrence

The U.S. Space Force on Wednesday launched a unit at Yokota Air Base in western Tokyo, with the aim of strengthening space defense and bilateral deterrence capabilities.

During the activation ceremony at the U.S. base, Brig. Gen. Anthony Mastalir, commander of U.S. Space Forces Indo-Pacific, said as countries like North Korea, Russia and China threaten the stability of the Indo-Pacific region, "U.S. Space Forces Japan will serve as the focal point for deepening collaboration and synchronization between the United States and Japan in national security."

The new unit is expected to enhance Japan's space surveillance and missile warning capabilities by providing advice and expertise, while ensuring smooth coordination with the Japanese side, including the Space Operations Group of the Air Self-Defense Force.

"It cannot be understated, our space capabilities will help deter adversary aggression" and help protect the allied forces, Col. Ryan Laughton, commander of U.S. Space Forces Japan, said at the ceremony.

As part of a bilateral space cooperation initiative, a constellation of Japan's geographic positioning satellites will host U.S. space sensors capable of gathering data and intelligence, the two governments said.

Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani and his U.S. counterpart Lloyd Austin affirmed the unit's establishment during their meeting last month in Australia.

In South Korea, another U.S. security ally facing military threat from North Korea, U.S. Space Forces Korea was activated in December 2022.

Space Training and Readiness Command’s Delta 10 hosted the second annual Tactics Development Conference (TACDEVCON) and the first ever with international partner participation, on Nov. 4-7 at the National Air and Space Intel Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

More than 350 participants gathered at this year’s TACDEVCON to review the Space Force’s TACDEV program, where USSF Deltas and Component Field Commands (FLDCOMs) provided updates to Space Force senior leaders on ongoing efforts and key tactical problems they had been tasked with solving during the previous conference.

The conference also provided Guardians with the opportunity to identify issues and propose tactical solutions.

Additionally, Tactics Improvement Proposals (TIPs) and Mission Focused Working Groups (MFWGs) were approved and prioritized for 2025.

The conference offered an avenue for collaboration across the broader tactics community with the integration of international partners from Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Their participation ensured cooperative development of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to continue securing common interests and shared values in the space domain.

“The valuable contributions of our allies and partners at events like TACDEVCON ensure like-minded nations stand prepared to meet 21st-century challenges,” said U.S. Space Force Col. Shannon DaSilva, Delta 10 commander.

Like last year’s inaugural event, TACDEVCON 2024 provided a forum for a discussion about the specialized nature of tactics development in the space warfighting domain and current opportunities for advancement and improvement.

“TACDEVCON creates a truly collaborative environment that empowers our tacticians to define and solve the community’s greatest tactical challenges,” said U.S. Space Force Capt. Christina Thomas, tactics development flight commander.

“The hard work and accomplishments of the attendees will pay dividends for today, and will define the problem set for TACDEVCON 2025,” said Thomas.

US-Backed Kurdish Forces Attack East Syrian Villages

Intense clashes as US artillery shells village of Khasham

The Syrian Civil War and its various fronts continue to re-escalate today with the Kurdish SDF attacking, and temporarily claiming they had captured seven villages in the eastern Deir Ezzor Province. The villages are along the path between the provincial capital and the Abu Kamal border crossing with Iraq.

The villages didn’t ultimately remain in the SDF’s hands, with the Syrian Army reporting that they had repelled them after intense fighting. The decision of the SDF to attack in the first place does not appear to have been entirely their own, however.

The US not only supported the SDF attack, but according to al-Mayadeen the US military actually “instructed” the SDF’s Deir Ezzor Military Council to attack those specific villages, meant to take advantage of the recent territory losses and fighting further west between Syrian forces and the Islamist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

US involvement in the attacks didn’t end there. The US provided artillery support, firing artillery out of the Conoco outpost, which is near oil fields. The US shelled the village of Khasham, hitting it with at least 12 shells.

US officials confirmed carrying out strikes in eastern Syria, hitting a tank and other targets. They claimed a rocket hit somewhere near their position and that Syrian military assets “presented a clear and imminent threat” to US forces.

Other US officials suggested that the SDF had requested US military support and they were “supporting them.” They denied this had anything to do with the HTS offensive in the northwest, and insisted that the attacks were not outside their normal mission, adding that the US is “there to defeat ISIS.” The attacks were against Syrian military targets, not ISIS.

The SDF is trying to downplay the US involvement in these attacks, arguing that after the Russian troops had deployed away from Syrian government-controlled villages, they were vulnerable to potential ISIS attack. The SDF also claimed that they felt responsible for “protecting” the villages, by which they meant attacking them.

Blinken Says Ukraine Must Send Younger People Into War

The US is pressuring Ukraine to lower the minimum conscription age from 25 to 18

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday that Ukraine needs to send younger people to fight Russian forces as the US is pressuring Ukraine to start conscripting teenagers for combat.

Ukraine’s current minimum conscription age is 25, and the US wants it lowered to 18. Ukrainians ages 18 to 25 can join the military to fight but cannot be forced into combat under the latest mobilization law.

“These are very hard decisions, and I fully both understand that and respect that,” Blinken told Reuters in an interview with Reuters at NATO headquarters in Brussels. “But for example, getting younger people into the fight, we think, many of us think, is necessary. Right now, 18- to 25-year-olds are not in the fight.”

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte echoed Blinken’s comments. “We have to make sure, obviously, also that enough people are available within Ukraine,” he said. “We need probably more people to move to the front line.”

The call from Blinken comes as it’s clear there’s no path to a Ukrainian military victory, but the Biden administration is doing everything it can to escalate the proxy war before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated on January 20. Ukrainians are also ready for an end to the war, as a recent Gallup poll found that the majority of Ukrainians, 52%, want peace talks with Russia to end the conflict.

Earlier this year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a mobilization law that lowered the age of conscription from 27 to 25, but he has so far resisted calls from the US to lower it further. Serhiy Leshchenko, an aide to Zelensky, said in October that Ukraine has been under pressure from American politicians, both Republicans and Democrats, to recruit 18-year-olds.

Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealth Group’s insurance unit, was fatally shot outside the Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning, in what appears to be “a brazen, targeted attack,” the New York Police Department said.
The suspect is described as using a firearm with a silencer, a person familiar with the matter said.
Thompson led UnitedHealthcare, the largest private health insurer in the U.S.

Or he has the wrong ammo, not enough back pressure. The spent rounds were stove piping, remedy, cycle the slide manually. Clears the spent round and many times ejects the next round too. Hence, the unfired rounds being found at the scene along with the spent casings.
