Jury Finds CNN “Committed Defamation Against Navy Vet Zachary Young” – CNN Owes Young $5 Million in Emotional and Financial Damages

Jury found Young is owed $4 million in financial damages and $1 million in emotional damages by CNN.

Navy Vet Zachary Young sued CNN for defamation over a 2021 report on his work helping Afghans during Biden’s botched withdrawal.

The lawsuit against CNN stemmed from their coverage of Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal, which the court previously determined showcased “actual malice, express malice, and a level of conduct outrageous enough” for Plaintiff Zachary Young to seek damages.

Young, who was offering to transport Afghans out of the country to flee the Taliban in 2021, was accused by Tapper and CNN correspondent Alex Marquardt of running a “black market” scheme and exploiting “desperate Afghans” for personal gain while disregarding the dangers and circumstances surrounding the evacuation efforts.

Tapper even maliciously and sarcastically highlighted Young’s use of the word “unfortunately” in a message to the network about the “extremely limited” availability of evacuations and high demand, as if to imply that Young was benefitting from the situation.

Young argued that the network intentionally painted him in a bad light and harmed his security consulting company.

The court wrote in its previous ruling, “Young proffered CNN messages and emails that showed internal concern about the completeness and veracity of the reporting— the story is ‘a mess,’ ‘incomplete,’ not ‘fleshed out for digital,’ ‘the story is 80% emotion, 20% obscured fact,’ and ‘full of holes like Swiss cheese.’”

“Young also proffered a message exchange he had with Marquardt just hours before publication where he advised there were factual inaccuracies in the reporting. CNN published anyway.” The judges also reportedly acknowledged that according to internal communications, the news crew “had little regard” for Young and disparaged him with profane language in private discussions.

Extremist organization that spreads misleading and harmful narrative about police receives University of Minnesota award.

 

Minnesota’s largest police organization blasted the U of M for the "shocking and inappropriate" decision and urged the school to sever ties with the organization.

 

Led by Michelle Gross, co-founder and president, the group has a long history of “undermining the efforts of police and public safety,” according to Brian Peters, executive director of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association. MPPOA represents more than 10,000 rank-and-file police officers across the state.

 

In a Dec. 7 University of Minnesota video accompanying the award, Gross appears to refer to the prosecutions of former St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez and former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin as “progress.”

New school's out-of-the-box approach could transform education in the United States.

 

A new type of high school opened in Forney, Texas, outside of Dallas, where students not only learn in the classroom but also on the job. The school, Opportunity Central (OC), which serves Forney and North Forney high school students, is housed in a building specially designed to support its out-of-the-box education. The upper two floors are classrooms while the first floor is a mall open to the public. Students go to the mall after classes and work in the stores and businesses, gaining business experience in a variety of different career paths. Shopkeepers receive a discount on their rent in exchange for mentoring students. Some businesses are even run by the students themselves.

A Florida school district that banned student cell phone use this school year is reporting fewer problems and better grades.

 

Broward County Public Schools banned any phone use, including at lunchtime, according to WTVJ-TV.

 

“I’ve noticed a lot more creativity with students, I think their attention spans are a little longer, they have excellent conversations in their groups, those conversations are lasting longer, our class discussions are definitely a lot longer and they’re a lot deeper because no one’s really focused on checking their phone,” Dan Katz, who teaches drama and law at Fort Lauderdale High School, said.

CNN forced to dish out another $5 million in defamation lawsuit.

 

A Florida jury on Friday determined that CNN defamed security contractor Zachary Young, who argued that his reputation and business were destroyed after he was featured in a November 2021 segment on the network about the high costs of evacuating Afghans from the country after the Taliban took power.

Can only speculate, but I assume it was partially to shield Trump for being blamed for the pretty bad economic knock-on effects of the plandemic (i.e., inflation and muh supply chain issues), among other things. Frankly, Trump deserves some of the blame for this (though not all - Fed/Treasury controls the printers).

 

If you subscribe to the Law of War / Devolution theory, it basically gave Trump an extra term, as Biden was "officially" the president, but Mil was treating his administration as an occupying force and had loyalty to Trump. On 1 January 1912, the National Assembly declared the establishment of the Republic of China, with Sun Yat-sen, leader of the Tongmenghui, as President of the Republic of China. A brief civil war between the North and the South ended in compromise. Sun would resign in favor of Yuan, who would become President of the new national government, if Yuan could secure the abdication of the Qing emperor. The edict of abdication of the six-year-old Xuantong Emperor, was promulgated on 12 February 1912. Yuan was sworn in as president on 10 March 1912.

Trump clashed frequently with Acosta since Trump’s first term as president, and even lost a court battle when his administration tried to ban Acosta from the White House briefing room. Now as the host of CNN Newsroom With Jim Acosta, he anchors a dayside news program that routinely outperforms even some primetime shows in the ratings, and which is known for not pulling punches — especially with Trump and Republicans. In interviews with multiple current CNN staffers and one who recently left the network, there is a near-unanimous belief that this is being done to appease Trump, and many feel the move is a “bad look” for the network — and likely to have a “chilling effect.”

 

One current CNN staffer told me a lot of people at CNN “were caught off guard by reports of this move and of course the timing.” “For one, Jim has not been part of the problem, he’s consistently delivering and holding his own at 10 am (and) has a loyal following,” the staffer said — and ratings data reviewed by Mediaite backs that up.

 

“Jim made a career and name for himself by asking tough questions(rude and disrespectful of anyone Conservative) and holding power to account. That included Trump. So it will be interesting to see if this kind of move has some sort of chilling effect or sends a message to other shows and EPs about how the network wants to engage with this new administration,” this staffer added. (All of them have lost ½ to 3/4s of their audiences in the last 5+ years, how much lower they can go, a lot)

 

“This is the worst possible move at the worst possible time,” another current CNN employee told me.“Staffers are baffled by this rumor. It seems like an attempt to appease Trump, who is never appeased by anything. Trump and his aides will celebrate if Acosta is sidelined.”

 

Another longtime current staffer speaking on condition of anonymity said the view thatthis is a capitulation to Trump is near-unanimous, and reaction among staff is strong that this story sends a bad message. “Jim has the support of many people who don’t want to see him moved to midnight,” the staffer said. “And it’s just a new element to this that people are upset, are just concerned about how it looks.”

 

This staffer said the concern is itlooks like “We’re being weak against the incoming president. And it’s a way to move Jim into a timeslot where he can’t be heard.”

 

One source who recently left the network said the move “surprised a lot of people” because Acosta has been “doing what Jim Acosta normally does, which is, hey, here’s what I’m going to do and nobody’s going to stop me from doing it, becausehe’s such a good reporter and he speaks truth. I don’t think he’s partisan(WTF???) as much as he is just the anchor of truth.”

 

The former CNNer continued:

I think it’s going to be shocking when when people begin to understand the implications of this. It is going to probablyturn off some viewers, even more so than CNN has already done, with the use of some pundits and analysts that are certainly biased. And it’s not going to help them gain additional viewership from a segment of society that I think they’re catering to.

 

The source added that if CNN really weren’t “kissing the ring, they would have eliminatedsome of the analysts they have on TV who are obviously providing misinformationto the viewership.”

 

But with all theangst behind the scenes, time will tell if any of Acosta’s colleagues step out of the shadows and speak out— a prospect that is widely seen by these sources as a tremendous risk. A CNN spokesperson declined to comment.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on Yemen Kuwait Bank for Trade and Investment Y.S.C for providing financial support to the Houthis, who continue to threaten shipping lanes and U.S. interests in the Red Sea.

 

“The Houthis rely on a few key financial institutions like Yemen Kuwait Bank to access the international financial system and finance their destabilizing attacks in the region,” said acting Under Secretary Bradley T. Smith.

 

The sanctions are part of a broader U.S. strategy to disrupt the financial networks supporting Houthi attacks on shipping, naval forces, and Israel, building upon previous actions targeting Houthi-affiliated exchange houses and international finance networks that channel Iranian petroleum sale proceeds to the militant group.

 

Investigation revealed that Yemen Kuwait Bank has played a crucial role in helping the Houthis establish and finance front companies, facilitating Iranian oil sales in coordination with already-sanctioned entities. The bank has been instrumental in laundering money and transferring funds to Houthi allies, including Lebanese Hizballah.

 

The designation, effective under Executive Order 13224, comes after the U.S. State Department’s classification of Ansarallah (Houthis) as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist organization back in February 2024. Under these sanctions, all U.S.-based assets of Yemen Kuwait Bank are now frozen, and American persons are prohibited from conducting transactions with the institution.

 

Financial institutions worldwide are now on notice that engaging with Yemen Kuwait Bank could result in secondary sanctions, potentially restricting their access to the U.S. financial system.

 

The sanctions comes after ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas announced this week could signal the beginning of the end for Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

The Foreclosure proceedings also implicate Mr. Moore's due process rights. The 5th Amendment prohibits the deprivation of property without due process of law and the 14th Amendment extends this protection to actions by state governments and their instrumentalities. Foreclosure is a significant deprivation of property that requires strict adherence to procedural and substantive fairness in this case. The foreclosure was was initiated without addressing Mr Moore's valid challenge to the underlying mortgage. The lack of a meaningful hearing to contest the validity of the contract constitutes a violation of his due process rights.

 

Further,the seizure of Mr Moore's home under a void contract amounts to an unconstitutional taking of property for private benefit violating the Takings Clause of the 5th, IV the 13th Amendment and Economic Exploitation.

 

The 13th Amendment's prohibition of involuntary servitude extends to systems of economic exploitation that coerces individuals into perpetual labor for the benefit of others. The fiat currency system when coupled with usury forces borrowers into unrelenting cycles of debt repayment effectively constituting economic servitude.

Tonight, Biden gave his final interview as president — and it was the end of an era for me personally. If you'll indulge me for a minute…

 

Almost five years ago, I left Minnesota and joined the 2020 Trump campaign's rapid response team, where my job was to watch Biden's every move and respond in kind.

I spent my days meticulously documenting every one of Biden's public appearances — his shuffle, his lies, his inability to read a teleprompter, and his obvious decline unfolding in real time.

 

Often by myself, I disseminated clips, again and again — priding myself on making available the content the media tried to bury, and letting Americans judge with their own eyes —and people slowly began to take notice.

 

Of course, there was a concerted effort to bury the content, but we pressed on. Prominent journalists accused me of lying — of somehow using unedited, publicly available footage of Biden to manufacture a political narrative, but Americans aren't stupid.

 

The White House and the Biden campaign hated me ("The White House's Least Favorite Twitter Account," Politico reported. "The GOP Operative Making Those Viral Frozen Biden Videos," The Daily Beast reported). The White House Press Secretary and her allies in the mainstream media insisted we were "cheap fakes," accusing me of lying and denying the reality we could all see with our own eyes.

 

It was totally surreal, but we pressed on.

 

Then, I joined the 2024 Trump campaign and kept it up.

 

The June debate happened and the rest is history. Biden was forced to drop out of the presidential race in disgrace —total vindication for the past five years of my life.

 

It's the end of an era and yet, it didn't come soon enough. The Biden presidency was a stain on our democracy — a total mockery, aided and abetted by willing, ignorant accomplices cosplaying as arbiters of truth.

 

Yet, in the end, the truth won — and we're probably better off because of it, because President Trump will soon take office and the Golden Age of America will finally begin anew.

 

Good riddance, Crooked Joe.
