Europe’s anxiety about Trump isn’t widely shared across the globe

The very things that makes the president-elect’s return so scary for many Europeans are what make him attractive to the rest of the world. Jan. 15, 2025

We are experiencing the biggest crisis in transatlantic relations since Suez. But it is unfolding in such a bizarre manner that nobody can quite get their head around it.

The richest man in the world, who is about to become a quasi-official in the incoming U.S. administration, has declared he’s trying to overthrow the British government — and probably the German one as well.

President-elect Donald Trump himself has already indicated he wants to overturn every single tenet of the U.S.-led order. And his recent comments on the Panama Canal and Greenland show he’s even ready to question principles like territorial sovereignty and the inviolability of borders.

The last time Trump was elected, many in the U.S. and around the world took comfort in the idea that Europe would step into the breach. They declared then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel the true leader of the free world — a role immortalized in an iconic G7 photo where’s she’s flanked by the leaders of the world’s major democracies, looming over a sulking Trump. But today, Europe has based its entire security, economic and political strategy on the existence of an American ally that Trump has now declared extinct.

However, a major opinion poll conducted by my organization, the European Council on Foreign Relations,shows that Europe’s anxiety about Trump is not widely shared.

After talking to 28,000 individuals across 24 countries, we found that the vast majority of people around the world think Trump is, in fact, good for the U.S., good for the world and good for global peace.…

Brooke Elizabeth Jewett, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Jewett of Manhattan, was married yesterday at her parents' house in Lyme, Conn., to Bernhardt Manfred Nadell, a son of Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Nadell of Brooklyn. The Rev. John Thursby, a Congregational minister, performed the ceremony with Rabbi Jerry Heller.

The couple graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University.

Mrs. Nadell, 27, is a Ph.D. candidate in English literature at Yale University. Her father is a partner in Shearman & Sterling, the New York law firm.The bride is a granddaughter of the late Charles Wood Jewett, who was Connecticut's Lieutenant Governor from 1955 to 1959.

Mr. Nadell, 29, is an associate at Schulte, Roth & Zabel, a law firm in New York. He received his law degree from New York University. His mother, Shari Nadell, now retired, was an art teacher at Winthrop Junior High School in Brooklyn. His father retired as a psychoanalyst in Brooklyn.

Traitor Mike Pence is Trying to Block Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s Appointment.

Here’s Why… Former Vice President Mike Pence, in his role as an establishment mouthpiece to attack President-elect Donald J. Trump and his agenda, is urging the U.S. Senate to reject Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Pence’s political organization, Advancing American Freedom, is whipping Republican senators against Kennedy’s nomination over his past support for abortion access.In a letter to Republican members of the Senate, Advancing American Freedom encourages lawmakers to press Kennedy with five questions addressing his abortion stance. The Pence group letter assets the HHS nominee has previously supported late-term abortions, claiming Kennedy has stated the government should not be involved in a woman’s decision to terminate her pregnancy “even if [the baby] is full term.”

Advancing American Freedom PresidentTim Chapman and Chairman of the Board Marc Shortassert Kennedy’s abortion stance is “completely out of step with the strong, pro-life record of the first Trump Administration.”

The Pence allies continue: “While RFK Jr. has made certain overtures to pro-life leaders that he would be mindful of their concerns at HHS, there is little reason for confidence at this time.”

Despite the claims by Pence’s Advancing American Freedom, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO)—who spoke with Kennedy in December—says the HHS nominee is committed to reimplementing Trump’s pro-life directivesat the department, including the Mexico City Policy and barring the taxpayer funding of abortion in the U.S.

The National Pulse previously reported thatPence’s staff oversaw Operation Warp Speed and aligned public health policy with Big Pharma’s interests. In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pence formed the task force that elevated Alex Azar, Anthony Fauci, and Deborah Birx.

Kennedy has pledged to investigate Fauci and Birx’s decisions during the pandemic.

The outcome of the shutdown would be different from that mandated by the law. The law would mandate a ban only on new TikTok downloads on Apple (AAPL.O), opens new tab or Google (GOOGL.O), opens new tab app stores, while existing users could continue using it for some time.

Under TikTok's plan, people attempting to open the app will see a pop-up message directing them to a website with information about the ban, the people said, requesting anonymity as the matter is not public.

The company also plans to give users an option to download all their data so that they can take a record of their personal information, they said.

Shutting down such services does not require longer planning, one of the sources said, noting that most operations have been continuing as usual as of this week. If the ban gets reversed later, TikTok would be able to restore service for U.S. users in a relatively short time, the source said.

TikTok and its Chinese parent, ByteDance, did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

U.S. tech publication The Information first reported the news.

Privately held ByteDance is about 60% owned by institutional investors such as BlackRock and General Atlantic, while its founders and employees own 20% each. It has more than 7,000 employees in the United States.

President Joe Biden last April signed a law requiring ByteDance to sell its U.S. assets by Jan. 19, 2025, or face a nationwide ban.

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court seemed inclined to uphold the law, despite calls from President-elect Donald Trump and lawmakers to extend the deadline.

Trump, whose inauguration comes the day after the law goes into effect, has said he should have time after taking office to pursue a "political resolution" of the issue.

TikTok and ByteDance have sought, at the very least, a delay in the implementation of the law, which they say violates the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment protection against government abridgment of free speech.

TikTok said in a court filing last month it estimated one-third of the 170 million Americans using its app would stop accessing the platform if the ban lasted a month.

Pam Bondi Makes Hawaii Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono Regret Not Meeting With Her as She Embarrasses Hirono for Several Minutes (VIDEO)

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi delivered a scathing takedown of Hawaii Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono during a highly publicized confirmation hearing.

As TGP’s Jordan Conradson reported, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is facing questions from Senators this morning during a confirmation hearing for the U.S. Attorney General.

Bondi, the former Florida Attorney General, was nominated after Rep. Matt Gaetz withdrew his name as Trump’s pick for AG.

As Conradson also noted, Trump Department of Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth’s first confirmation hearing was held yesterday, and he passed the test with flying colors. Now, Bondi is shining as well.

After thoroughly humiliating Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) when they tried to embarrass her with a variety of questions, an even worse-prepared Mazie Hirono (D-HI) decided to try to dunk on her at various points.

Unsurprisingly, she ended up red-faced in the end.

Perhaps the most humiliating moment for Hirono during her seven-minute interrogation of Bondu came when she demanded the former Florida Attorney General answer whether she would weaponize the Department of Justice on behalf of President Trump. The following is a lesson in both preparation and intelligence.

“If he (Trump) asks you to investigate one of his perceived political enemies, would you do so?” Hirono asked.

But Bondi quickly had an ace up of her sleeve: Hirono had no clue because she had refused to meet with her before the hearing, the only senator to do so.

“Senator Hirono, I wish you had met with me,” Bondi replied. “Had you met with me, we could have discussed these things.”

After an embarrassed Hirono interrupted, Bondi again reiterated she would have known this answer had she met with her. The answer, of course, is that it is the job of the U.S. Attorney General to follow the law.

Bondi went on to note that 2/3 of Americans had lost faith in the Department of Justice under the Biden regime.

At another point, Bondi humiliates Hirono when she asks a silly question about illegal immigration and Trump.

“He (Trump) has also said illegal immigration is poisoning the blood of our nation,” Hirono stated. “Do you agree?”

Bondi fired back with a sassy response.

“I went to the border a few months ago,” Bondi said. “I went to Yuma, AZ. I went to a r*pe crisis center. It was horrific.”

“I’m sure you’ve been to the border as well, so you can answer that.”

Admitting defeat, Hirono moved on.

Hirono also asked Bondi whether she had ever made “unwanted requests for sexual favors” or sexual advances toward someone. On top of being insulting and sexist, a look at Bondi’s record would prove this was laughable even to suggest.

Bondi, of course, truthfully responded no. Hirono would have known this as well had she met with Bondi beforehand.

But she took this as an opportunity to humiliate herself instead.

In November 2021, a Predator DC video allegedly shows "Jamie" arriving at a house where he believed a 15 year-old girl was going to engage in sexual acts with him. The video starts out with the cameraman and hosts hiding in a closet. You can hear the girl making small talk with "Jamie" when he arrives.

Eventually, she tells "Jamie" that she is going to go put her "school-girl outfit on" and requests that he is already naked when she returns. "Jamie" responds with reluctance saying that he'd "be happy to" but "we're just five minutes in."

Shortly after, "Jamie" is confronted by the camera crew and hosts who tell him, "Jamie, go ahead and have a seat right there on that stool for me."

"Jamie" says he doesn't want to be on camera and makes a bee line for the door. At this point, the hosts, Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl introduce themselves. He responds, "I know who you are" as he begins to leave.

"We're doing a story on adults who come to have sex with underage teens. You've come here today to have sex with an underage girl."
