Zelensky criticizes West for not breaking all ties with Russia

Ukraine’s leader has claimed that Western intelligence agencies have maintained contacts with Moscow throughout the conflict

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has criticized the West for maintaining extensive and frequent intelligence-level contacts with Moscow throughout the three years of his country's conflict with Russia.

Zelensky made the remarks during the International Media Council at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, in response to aquestion about preparations by US President Donald Trump’s team for a phone call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

“We know that at the intelligence level, the United States and Russia had contacts throughout the three years of the war. They had many different contacts. And, to be honest, the Europeans had many, too,” Zelensky told the attendees. He stated that he was not consulted on the matter but recalled previous conversations in which Trump’s team mentioned efforts to establish contact with Moscow.

The Ukrainian leader, whose presidential mandate expired in 2024, was not involved in the communications and stressed that he did not support them, acknowledging at the same time that each country has sovereignty in such matters.

Zelensky argued that diplomatic isolation should be used like sanctions and warned that continuous intelligence exchanges could benefit Moscow. “If the leaders don’t talk, but the intelligence services constantly talk, then in principle, this may suit the Russian side,” he said.

Zelensky added that while Trump’s plans to contact Putin do not “surprise” him, he claimed that Ukraine should be prioritized because it is an “ally of the United States.” (Oh please Fuck Off, you are a parasite, and no one likes you. He fails to realize the power PDJT has, he’s not a fool like Joe and you.)

He also stressed that Kiev would not agree to any compromise entailing Western recognition of Russia’s new territories, even if “all the allies of the world united” to demand it. (Good you get no more money)

Any potential dialogue with Russia should only be held from a position of strength, Zelensky insisted, claiming that any attempts to speak on an equal footing with Moscow would constitute defeat for Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga confirmed last week in an interview with European Pravda that Kiev's outright ban on negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, introduced two years ago, remains in place.

Moscow, meanwhile, has repeatedly said that it is open to talks on Ukraine, provided that they take into account the new territorial “realities on the ground” and address the root issues of the conflict.

JUST IN: US Transportation Command has been told to prepare to use US military aircraft for migrant deportation flights, according to CNN.

Trump has also told the military to prepare to deploy 10,000 active-duty troops to the border.

"Don't be surprised if you see Marines being dropped off by helicopters," said one official.

"We’ve been told to treat this like a national emergency because it’s been declared a national emergency."

Overview

Methylene blue was originally synthesized in 1876 and used as an antimalarial drug until it fell out of favor with the rise of quinine. This synthetic dye is named for its ability to stain tissue and urine with a dark blue hue. More recently, methylene blue has been a preferred treatment for methemoglobinemia, a condition where a person’s blood cannot properly transport oxygen throughout the body, and urinary tract infections. Cut to today, methylene blue has emerged as a promising treatment for Lyme disease, Bartonella, and Babesia, common tick-borne co-infections.

Methylene blue has powerful antimicrobial properties, and it is generally easier on the gut than an antibiotic. When used in combination with other drugs or herbal treatments, it may be particularly effective at eradicating the persistent biofilms that plague so many Lyme and Bartonella patients, according to a 2020 research study published in BMC Microbiology. While more research is needed to better understand the long-term effects of methylene blue, many tick-borne disease specialists have reported that their patients are seeing significant progress on this treatment.

Zelensky claims US doesn’t care about EU

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has raised concerns over Washington’s commitment to Europe

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has said that the United States does not prioritize Europe and urged European countries to spend more on defense efforts. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, he highlighted the need for Western Europe to take a more active role in its own security, especially in light of shifting US foreign policies.

Zelensky raised concerns about Washington’s view of its relationship with Europe, arguing that Europeans see the US as an irreplaceable ally, especially during wartime.

“But does anyone in the United States worry that Europe might one day leave them or stop being their ally? The answer is no. Washington does not believe that Europe can bring them anything truly significant,”he added.

The Ukrainian leader also referenced comments made by US officials at the Asia Security Summit last year, saying that representatives of the then-Biden administration had openly admitted that Europe was placed third in strategic priority, following the Indo-Pacific region and the Middle East.

Zelensky also warned that Europe will lose relevance on the global stage if it fails to assert itself. “Europe cannot afford to be a second or third priority for its allies. If that happens, the world will move forward without Europe. And it will be a world where it will not be comfortable to live,” he said.

Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022, the US Congress has provided roughly $175 billion in military, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Kiev.

Trump has repeatedly promised to end the conflict between Moscow and Kiev within 24 hours of retaking office. During his inauguration day on Monday, he joked that he had “half a day left” to fulfill his promise. His nominee for envoy on the Ukraine conflict, retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg, has suggested a peace deal could be brokered within 100 days.

Earlier on Tuesday US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that Ukraine will be a “top priority” for the administration, with work on a ceasefire agreement starting immediately. However, he added that both Ukraine and Russia will have to concede “something” as part of any deal.

During his first term, Trump frequently accused European nations of freeloading off American military might and underspending on defense, with Germany often singled out for criticism. He urged NATO members to meet their existing commitment of allocating 2% of GDP to defense, a benchmark many failed to reach.

Before retaking office in January,Trump reiterated his stance on defense spending, calling on European NATO members to increase their budgets to 5% of GDP. He argued that these nations “can all afford” the higher contributions, highlighting disparities in spending among allies.

Methylene blue is an aniline dye that was synthesized for the textile industry in 1876 by Heinrich Caro, an employee of the chemical firm, BASF. It is a blue dye that was developed for staining cotton. Scientists began using dyes to stain microbes for more detailed study under the microscope. In 1885, Paul Ehrlich published an article on staining tuberculosis bacillus with methylene blue. He developed a theory that if the methylene blue could stain the organism and not the surrounding tissue, methylene blue would have detrimental effects on that organism. Essentially, he was proving that the structure of a chemical determines the biological effects of that chemical.

Methylene blue was used to treat various diseases to eliminate pathogens without damaging the tissue. During World War II, methylene blue was used on soldiers to treat malaria. It was the first synthetic medicine used to treat illnesses in human patients. Methylene blue is still considered for use in malaria patients and is experiencing a revival of interest.

Blue Oxidized State

Methylene blue is a unique derivative of phenothiazines. In its oxidized state, it is blue and is an electron donor. In its colorless state (leucomethylene blue), it is in a reduced state and will accept electrons. These two molecules comprise an “autoxidizing redox” system, which is a reversible oxidation-reduction system. This complex allows methylene blue to support the mitochondrial electron chain inside our cells, which supports respiration inside our cells. It is this ability to transport electrons, and thus oxygen inside our cells, which allows it to be used as a treatment for methemoglobinemia, cyanide poisoning and carbon dioxide poisoning. Methylene blue can serve as an oxygen transport system while our hemoglobin is not functioning properly.

Neurological Conditions

There are many neurological conditions where methylene blue has been studied. Those conditions include Alzheimer’s disease, autism, depression, neurodegenerative diseases, Parkinson’s disease and traumatic brain injury.

In many of these conditions, researchers consider the increase of oxygenation in the cells as the supporting mechanism of action of methylene blue. The increase in oxygenation increases cellular oxygen levels and respiration, increases glucose uptake and increases production of ATP — the energy containing substance in our cells. Methylene blue also decreases the oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) and protects the nerves from damage. Methylene blue can inactivate these ROS. Also, by increasing ATP activity, methylene blue can increase metabolic energy, increase DNA repair and decrease neurodegeneration.

Methylene blue has also been shown to affect the levels of various neurotransmitters in our nervous system. Methylene blue is an MAO inhibitor, helping to increase levels of serotonin, norepinephrine and can increase acetylcholine levels in the cells.

Now, on day two of his second term, Trump’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, has announced that the mass deportation efforts and illegal alien raids are underway “effective today.”

The Gateway Pundit reported on Sunday that Tom Homan said the immigration raids on sanctuary cities, including Chicago and New York, may be placed on pause after details about the plan were leaked to the media.

This comes after it was reported last week that Immigration and Customs Enforcement was preparing to launch a “big f–king operation” in sanctuary cities on Tuesday — just one day after Trump’s inauguration.

Homan later seemed to confirm the reports but also said that leaks put law enforcement officers at "great risk" and that ICE will "make a decision based on this leak."

Treating Patients

A majority of patients can be maintained at a daily dose of 15 mg in capsule form. A dose of 50 mg taken twice daily has been used to treat Lyme disease. A starting dose of 200 mg has been used in patients with COVID. This dose should be started as soon as possible; higher doses have been used.

There was an interesting French study of 2,500 cancer patient who were treated with a regimen that included methylene blue. At the end of the study, none of the 2,500 patients developed an influenza-like illness, including COVID.

Methylene blue is best taken in the morning because it can be a mild stimulant and disrupt sleep patterns.

Clinical considerations include not using methylene blue in patients on MAO inhibitors, or patients taking SSRIs or SNRIs. Methylene blue should not be taken with dapsone and is contraindicated in patients with renal disease or patients with hypersensitivity to methylene blue. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy.

Russia drafting new law to seize Western assets – media

The legislation is expected to target nations that unlawfully confiscate Moscow’s funds and properties, Izvestia newspaper reports

Russian authorities are drafting a new bill allowing for the seizure of assets belonging to Western states that have illegally confiscated Moscow’s property and funds, newspaper Izvestia reported on Tuesday, citing documents prepared by the government legislation commission.

The draft bill outlines the legal procedure and emphasizes that targeted foreign assets will be transferred into Russian state ownership after a ruling by a court of arbitration. The list of properties and funds subject to seizure will be compiled by the country’s commission on foreign investments.

In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree laying the groundwork for confiscating assets of US companies and individuals to compensate for any Russian assets expropriated by Washington.

If adopted, the broader legislationwill target “unfriendly” Western statesand related individuals, allowing Moscow to seize assets as reimbursement for financial damages incurred by Russia from the illegal confiscation of its funds and properties, the draft legislation reads. The commission will reportedly review the draft bill as soon as next week.

Vedomosti newspaper has cited two sources as saying that the bill was drafted by the country’s Ministry of Justice andwas included in the commission’s agenda on January 20. Izvestia noted that the document has been approved by the relevant authorities, including the Bank of Russia, the Finance Ministry, the Economy Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Washington and its allies have frozen around $300 billion of sovereign Russian assets held in the Brussels-based Euroclear, since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022. Kiev has been persistently urging its Western backers to expropriate Russia’s sovereign assets and use them to cover Ukraine’s military and reconstruction expenses.

The US administration headed by Joe Biden supported the proposal but European nations have rejected the idea due to mounting concerns over the illegitimacy of such a move, arguing that it could land a hard blow on the Western financial system and the reputation of the euro.

Western allies were also planning to impose a windfall tax on profits generated by the frozen Russian assets, and to spend the proceeds either directly to buy weapons for Ukraine or to offer them as collateral for a loan, which would then be used to bolster the country’s military.

The Kremlin has repeatedly denounced the asset freeze as “theft” and argued that tapping into these funds would be illegal and set a dangerous precedent. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has warned that Moscow will take legal action against those involved in the asset seizure.

World Economic Forum: Davos Attendee Admits ‘Trump Won’ and Globalists Lost

The globalist “managerial” philosophy favoured by the European Union has lost, and Trump has “won”, a panellist at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos admitted.

A sombre mood appears to have descended upon the Swiss ski resort town. While the WEF typically hosts an orgiastic celebration of international elitism, this year’s festivities sit in the shadow of the inauguration of President Donald Trump and the rejection of neo-liberalism by the American people.

In a WEF panel discussion on the incoming administration, Yale University Professor Walter Reed said that the Davos class needs to understand “who’s won, which is Trump, but who’s lost, which is to say us.”

“Who is losing here is Europe. The European Union, and by and large, it’s member states, have misread the direction where events were going.”

“The causes that it is interested in; climate, human rights, some others, as well as the methods of diplomacy that it prefers, are simply being gradually kind of marginalized as something new — not necessarily something better — but something new, moves into the centre.”

Professor Reed pointed to a general failing at the heart of the globalist philosophy, that modern man had somehow reached the “end of history” and, therefore, merely needed a group of international bureaucrats to manage and tinker with “incremental shifts”.

“That’s not how things work and especially not how things work at this kind of moment when a technological transformation is really biting into the economy on all kinds of levels in a transformational way,” he said.

Fellow panellist Graham Allison, a political scientist and Professor of Government at Harvard University, said, “Trump has done something no person in the world has ever done before; a dead man, a dead politician has risen.”

“This is the greatest comeback in political history of a politician and then, therefore, he thinks he can do anything. There’s a supreme confidence about that,” Prof Allison said.

“This is a phenomenon that we shouldn’t try to understand only in the terms that we’re traditionally accepting. We should say something strange, new, and amazing is happening here, and we should study it.”

Although Davos is usually the hot ticket for world leaders in January, Trump also undercut the WEF by becoming the first American president to invite international leaders to attend his inauguration in Washington, D.C., this week.

One such leader who did not receive an invite was German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose leftist government collapsed the day after Trump’s victory in November and who is widely expected to be removed from power following the federal elections in February. Adding insult to injury, in another apparent slight to Scholz, Trump did invite top members of the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

This left the German Chancellor with the consolation prize of an appearance in Davos, during which he demonstrated his censorious leanings and chastised X boss and Trump ally Elon Musk for expressing his political opinions about Germany and Europe.

“We have the freedom of speech in Europe and in Germany. Everyone can say what he wants, even if he is a billionaire. And what we do not accept is if this is supporting extreme-right positions,” Scholz said at the WEF on Tuesday.

However, it is unclear how much sway the likely outgoing Chancellor has, with a reporter from leading German newspaper Welt Holger Zschaepitz sharing a picture seeming to show the audience at Scholz’s Davos appearance being half empty.

Rather than attend the event in person this year, as he previously did in 2018 and 2020, President Trump will address the meeting virtually on Thursday.

Abstract

Methylene blue (MB) is the oldest synthetic anti-infective. Its high potency against asexual and sexual stages of malaria parasites is well documented. This study aimed to investigate possible additional activities of MB in interfering with parasite transmission and determine target stages in Anopheles vectors and humans. MB’s transmission-blocking activity was first evaluated by an ex vivo direct membrane feeding assay (DMFA) using Plasmodium falciparum field isolates. To investigate anti-mosquito stage activity, Plasmodium berghei-infected Anopheles stephensi mosquitoes were fed a second blood meal on mice that had been treated with methylene blue, 3, 6- and 15-days after the initial infectious blood meal. Anti-sporozoite and liver stage activities were evaluated in vitro and in vivo via sporozoite invasion and liver stage development assays, respectively. MB exhibited a robust inhibition of P. falciparum transmission in An. gambiae, even when added shortly before the DMFA but only a moderate effect against P. berghei oocyst development. Exposure of mature P. berghei and P. falciparum sporozoites to MB blocked hepatocyte invasion, yet P. berghei liver stage development was unaffected by MB. Our results indicate previously underappreciated rapid specific activities of methylene blue against Plasmodium transmission stages, preventing the establishment of both mosquito midgut and liver infections as the first essential steps in both hosts.

1. Introduction

The development of new interventions that target transmissible stages of malaria parasites will play a key role in the goal of malaria elimination. Existing conventional control tools such as insecticide-treated bed nets, prompt and efficacious treatment and vector population reduction led to a significant reduction of the malaria burden. Still, malaria remains an important cause of morbidity, especially among African children under 5 years of age. In 2019, the WHO estimated even a notable surge in morbidity and mortality after two decades of steady decreases (WHO World Malaria Report 2021) [1]. Despite the worrying emergence of parasite resistance to both artemisinin and partner drugs [2,3], ACTs continue to be highly efficacious in treating uncomplicated P. falciparum malaria in African countries [4,5]. Artemisinin derivatives lead to rapid asexual parasite clearance in sensitive infections [6] and are also highly active against stage I-III sexual transmission stages (gametocytes).

Conclusions

Our study expands our knowledge of the activity of MB as the oldest synthetic anti-infective against the different stages of the complex life cycle of malaria parasites. We demonstrated an extremely rapid activity of MB on P. falciparum transmission to An. gambiae mosquitoes. Moreover, we found that MB has moderate activity on oocyst development, reducing the oocyst burden and mosquito infectivity. Importantly, exposure of sporozoites to MB revealed a prominent in vitro inhibitory activity of hepatocyte invasion, and we also observed a reduced parasite liver stage load upon exposure of early intra-hepatocyte parasite development to MB in vivo. Facing the emergence and development of malaria resistance, our study thus provides further impetus for the clinical use of MB, for instance, in antimalarial combination therapy.

Trump admits love for Russian people and offers Putin ‘a deal’

The US president has urged Moscow to end the Ukraine conflict “the easy way,” threatening more sanctions if it doesn’t

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday issued a thinly-veiled ultimatum to Russia, urging it to bring the Ukraine conflict to an end and strike a “deal,” or face new sanctions and high import tariffs.

Trump issued the warning in a post on his Truth Social online platform,proclaiming his “love” for the Russian people and insisting he was “not looking to hurt Russia.”

“We must never forget that Russia helped us win the Second World War, losing almost 60,000,000 lives in the process,” he wrote, exaggerating the estimated Soviet Union losses more than twofold.

“All of that being said, I’m going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR. Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War! IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE,” Trump asserted.

Should no “deal” on the matter materialize “soon” enough, Trump would “have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries.” The US president also reiterated that the Russia-Ukraine conflict “never would have started” if he had been in office.

“We can do it the easy way, or the hard way - and the easy way is always better,” Trump warned Moscow.

Earlier in the day, Trump reiterated his readiness to engage in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, insisting he’d had a “very strong understanding with” the Russian leader before. Asked when exactly the talk could happen, Trump said “anytime they want – I will meet.”

“We are talking to [Ukraine’s Vladimir] Zelensky. We are going to be talking with President Putin very soon and we will see how it all happens,” Trump said.

On Monday, Putin commended Trump’s proclaimed intention to resume contact between Russia and the US, which was halted under the Biden administration. The potential dialogue, however, can only happen on an “equal and mutually respectful basis,” the president warned during a meeting of the Russian National Security Council.

EU and UK ‘prepared’ for Trump – Politico

Brussels and London reportedly have “an arsenal of weapons” with which to respond to the new US president’s policies on trade and Ukraine

The European Union and the United Kingdom are well prepared for a possible trade war with the United States, Politico has reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

On his first day back in the White House, President Donald Trump signed anexecutive order outlining an ‘America First’ trade policy, directing federal agencies to review existing trade agreements with partner countries.

Last month, Trump urged the EU to purchase more American oil and gas or face a barrage of tariffs. According to Politico, the European Commission has confirmed that it was taking the offer seriously and would follow up on it.

“While it’s clear Europe doesn’t want to be at odds with the United States, it has also done much more work to prepare for conflicts this time than it had ahead of Trump’s first term,” the publication wrote on Wednesday.

In 2018 Brussels was caught off guard by sudden US tariffs on steel and aluminum. In response, the EU imposed retaliatory tariffs on a range of US goods worth €2.8 billion ($2.9 billion), including iconic American products such as motorcycles and bourbon whiskey.

The EU and the UK have been “war-gaming scenarios” for months and have prepared an “arsenal of weapons for a trade war,”wrote Politico. According to the publication’s sources, officials hope Trump can be persuaded not to hit European exports with punitive tariffs but have readied a wide array of potential responses, including retaliatory tariffs.

European leaders are also concerned about the implications of Trump’s stance on NATO and support for Ukraine.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky on Tuesday urged Europe to bolster its own defense capabilities, questioning whether the US will maintain its commitment to European security under Trump’s leadership.

European leaders, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have been swiftly preparing strategies to demonstrate their readiness to shoulder responsibilities and engage in future negotiations with Trump, wrote Politico.

The outlet concluded by saying that“Trump is impulsive and it’s impossible to know what he may decide to do next.”

The view was echoed on Wednesday by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who argued that US foreign policy remains “completely unpredictable.”
