An Indiana man pardoned recently by President Donald Trump for his role in the deadly Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol attack has been shot and killed after resisting arrest, according to multiple reports.

Matthew W. Huttle, of Hobart, was shot and killed Sunday afternoon during a traffic stop, the Indiana State Police confirmed.

A preliminary state police investigation indicated that Huttle, 42, was in possession of a firearm when at approximately 4:15 p.m. local time a Jasper County Sheriff's deputy performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Route 14 east of C.R. 475 East near the Pulaski County line.

It is unclear for now why Huttle was pulled over.

Health officials in Kansas say they are battling an “unprecedented” tuberculosis outbreak that’s infected at least 146 people in the state’s northeast.

As of Friday, there have been 67 confirmed active cases of the bacterial disease, commonly known as TB, in the Kansas City metro area since 2024, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported. Sixty of these active cases are in Wyandotte County, and the remaining seven are in Johnson County.

An additional 79 inactive infections, where the person shows no symptoms, have been confirmed in the same areas, with 77 in Wyandotte County and two in Johnson County, the health department said.

“The current [Kansas City] Metro TB outbreak is the largest documented outbreak in U.S. history, presently,” Jill Bronaugh, a KDHE spokesperson, told the Topeka Capital-Journal. “This is mainly due to the rapid number of cases in the short amount of time.”

Where did MAGA come from? Ronald Reagan used the term in 1980, “Make America Great.” Bill Clinton used it in 1992. In 2011, Donald Trump wrote a book, his subtitle was “Make America Great.” Where did this come from, this MAGA agenda?

As we approach Inauguration Day, there’s been a lot of talk about the inconsistencies or the paradoxes of Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda. We’ve mentioned them in the past. We do not want to be isolationists. But we don’t want to be interventionists. And those are sometimes in tension and conflict.

Donald Trump has promised a lot of tax cuts, to service, some service workers, tips—no taxes on tips, no tax on social security. And yet, he has promised to be a deficit hawk and get close to a balanced budget by the end of his term. In addition to that, he has suggested that we have to close the border and stop illegal immigration.

In fact, when we have 16% of the population that’s foreign born, and that’s almost 55 million people, he has called for a reduction or at least a breathing spell in legal immigration. That’s ignited another tension or paradox or conflict between the MAGA people, who do not want any more than, say, 200,000 legal immigrants, and the Silicon Valley converts who want these work visas for skilled coders and people in Silicon Valley. All of this is just a preliminary.

In 2011, Donald Trump wrote a book, his subtitle was “Make America Great.” But what was it?

What is it? So we can understand when he starts his presidency. First of all, remember, it’s not all that different, in its core,from doctrinaire Republicanism, in this sense. It professes to be fiscally sound. It wants low taxes, limited government, and conservative values, in the sense of culture and tradition, patriotism.

It looks at the past with reverence and not with disdain like the Left does.But here’s the key, what Donald Trump added to it was: We were not going to nation build abroad. We’re not taking people out of East Palestine, Ohio, and sending them over to spend billions of dollars, and lose their lives in god-awful places, like Fallujah, where people don’t appreciate it.We’re not going to do that anymore. That was new.

Second thing was, and he was a cultural warrior. The [George W.] Bush, [John] McCain, [Mitt] Romney wing of the party said, “We don’t like this Affirmative Action, DEI, woke to the extent that it was as virulent as it is now.

Donald Trump was a diehard conservative on social. He wanted to close the border. He told the base of the Republican Party, “I know you want cheap labor. I used it. We can’t do it anymore. We’re going to close the border.”..

Where did this come from, this MAGA agenda?Three areas that I can see. The 1992 and earlier movement by Pat Buchanan, who embraced a lot of these positions. It was followed in the ’90, at the same time, the ’92 and ’96 third party effort by Ross Perot.

He echoed a lot of Buchanan’s issues: America first, re-industrialize the United States, don’t go abroad and waste money and try to develop a vibrant middle class that was being eroded in the Rust Belt, especially. Ross Perot got 20% of the vote in 1992, remember that, but he didn’t win the nomination.

The final tradition that Trump drew on, of course, was the tea party. That period of 2009, ’10, ’11, ’12 that grew up spontaneous, without a leader, in response to the socialized medical agenda of Barack Obama, Obamacare, and the vast deficits.

Trump brought all of those together in this MAGA new movement, but there were differencesthat made it possible for him not to run as a third party or not to be a failed candidate, but to capture the Republican nomination and win twice.

What was it? He substituted class for race. People had characterized Buchananism or tea party as white. That was an unfair caricature, but he made it a special effort to appeal to people of all different races and classes, and bring them in and say, you have more in common with each other than you do with your elites of your particular tribal affiliation.

Second, what else did he do? He was ecumenical in the political sense. Pat Buchanan and Ross Perot did not bring in people, necessarily from the Left. Ross Perot brought in a few, but the idea of Robert Kennedy, Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Dana White, all union people—was a new concept. And third, of course, it was Donald Trump.

He’d been on “The Apprentice” for 14 years. It was one of the top-rated shows. He’d written 25 books. He had been [in] the tabloid pages of the New York papers for 30 years.He was a charismatic celebrity and he had a magnetic presence, and he fought back in a way that no one did.

Put all that together and it explains the foundations of the MAGA movement and why it succeededwhere the tea party, Ross Perot, and Pat Buchanan did not.

The First Medal of Honor Recipient of WWII Was Basically a Modern-Day Berserker

"Sandy" Nininger when he began his plebe year at the U.S. Military Academy, one might never have guessed he would channel those old Viking warriors when the time came.

Nininger was a kind soul who listened to classical music and Broadway shows. He drew pictures for fun, joined the debate team and was active in track and field, which lent to his slender build. His classmates loved him, but they might never have guessed that "Sandy" would become the first Medal of Honor recipient of World War II – and that he fought like a Viking berserker in the process.

The 57th Infantry Regiment formed sniper hunting parties to clear that danger. On Jan. 12, 1942, Nininger loaded up with a satchel of grenades, a captured Japanese machine gun and his M1 Garand rifle slung on his back, and set out into Luzon.

When the countersniper attacks began, Nininger began to advance, shooting one sniper down out of a tree. When the Japanese invaders began to open fire in full force, Lt. Nininger opened his grenade satchel and charged enemy positions, strongpoints and foxholes. His company said he killed 20 enemy troops with his grenades alone before pressing on. As Nininger moved forward, Japanese artillery shells started to rain down around him. His men began to fall, but he kept moving forward, guns blazing. He fought on until he ran out of ammunition. Then he used his bayonet.

Nininger's men reported seeing their lieutenant start fighting the Japanese in hand-to-hand combat, and they watched as he was wounded three times in the grim melee. But their officer never stopped fighting. Three enemy soldiers charged Nininger as the regiment, buoyed by his fierce solo combat, launched a charge and reformed its line. When all was said and done, Nininger lay dead, but with an enemy officer and two enlisted troops dead around him.

During a 48-hour period following Trump's inauguration, ABC, CBS, and NBC covered Trump's pardons for a total of 46 minutes and 32 seconds. For Biden's familial pardons, the networks gave just 212 seconds of coverage, or 3 minutes and 32 seconds.

That equates to more than 13 times the number of seconds — or 1,300% — of coverage dedicated to Trump versus Biden.

Goldman Sachs staffers are griping about getting paltry bonuses — despite a massive raise given to CEO David Solomon after the bank posted its best earnings in three years, The Post has learned.

Rank and file at the Wall Street giant fumed that end-of-year payouts, revealed internally two weeks ago, looked chintzy following a much-hyped revival in dealmaking last year, according to several Goldman workers who were interviewed by The Post.

“My typical bonuses have been 50% of base or more for all the years I have been with Goldman,” said one veteran banker who requested anonymity. “This time it is nowhere close.”

Meanwhile, the bank announced on Jan. 17 that CEO Solomon — who turned 63 on the same day — received a whopping $39 million in compensation for 2024, up a staggering 26% from the previous year.

The trader declined to give further details on pay amid fears of being identified, but called Goldman a “cult” that strings “us along by promising us promotions or money.”

Goldmanites likewise griped about the $80 million golden handcuffs bonus that will be paid out to Solomon if he sticks around for another five years.

By comparison, Solomon’s Wall Street rival, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, was paid $39 million last year and received a $50 million retention bonus in 2021 to stay in the top job until next year.

Anger inside the firm’s 200 West Street headquarters in Lower Manhattan had already reached a boiling point on Jan. 16, the day before Solomon’s package was disclosed when some staffers clocked out early to protest at the skimpy payouts, two sources told The Post.

Some Goldman employees claimed that top brass had trimmed compensation for the rank-and-file to help boost the bank’s quarterly and full-year earnings.

“There’s a lot of frustration, anger, and disappointment. It feels demotivating when leadership seems more focused on external perceptions than internal morale,” the first source said.
