New York City Mayor Eric Adams Charged With Federal Crimes

Federal prosecutors indicted New York Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday over allegations that he took bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign nationals in exchange for various political favors.

The five-count indictment (read more about the indictment here) includes conspiracy, wire fraud and bribery charges, covering a spree of crimes committed over the course of a decade, prosecutors allege. The charges cast doubt on the moderate Democrat’s future as chief executive of the country’s largest city.

On Wednesday, Adams responded to the charges in a pre-recorded video in anticipation of his possible indictment.

“My fellow New Yorkers, it is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with crimes,” Adams said. “If so, these charges will be entirely false, based on lies, but they would not be surprising.”

“I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and my spirit,” he added.

The FBI seized Adams’ phone at Gracie Mansion, his official residence, on Thursday morning ahead of the unsealing of his indictment later in the day.

The charges represent a remarkable turn of fortune for Adams, a former New York Police Department captain whose victorious public safety-focused campaign earned him national recognition as a sign of shifting currents within his party. Adams, the city’s second Black mayor, went so far as to describe himself as the “future of the Democratic Party.”

He can now claim a different sort of distinction: the first New York City mayor to be indicted.

As both a candidate and an elected official, Adams is perhaps best known as a larger-than-life cheerleader for the Big Apple ― a nightlife aficionado who took to using Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” as his intro music at public appearances.

But Adams’ roots in Brooklyn’s party patronage system and facility with transactional, interest-group politicking ― the kind that often has a seedy underside — played as much a role in his election as his trademark “swagger.”

He took with him to City Hall his old machine-style habits, testing the bounds of ethics laws, hiring friends with shady pasts and allegedly presiding over a culture of roguish behavior.

The U.S. Department of Justice had been investigating whether Adams’ 2021 mayoral campaign colluded with the Turkish government to funnel him illegal foreign donations. The probe came into public view in November, when federal agents first seized the electronic devices of an Adams campaign aide in charge of fundraising, and then Adams’ own phones.

A series of additional scandals have since consumed Adams’ mayoralty. Federal prosecutors investigated top Adams administration officials for charges that include alleged bribery and shakedown schemes. The steady drip of federal raids and rumored indictments has spurred the resignation of a host of top officials. In the past two weeks alone, Adams’ schools chancellor, health commissioner, police commissioner and City Hall attorney have all left.

The Many Tails of Comet G3 ATLAS

Why does this comet have so many tails? C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) has developed several long and intricate tails visible from Earth's southern hemisphere over the past two weeks.

Many observers reported seeing the impressive comet without any optical aid above the western horizon just after sunset. At least six different tails appear in the featured image captured five days ago from the dark skies above Paranal Observatory in Chile. One possible cause for the multiple tails is dust and gas being expelled from the comet's rotating nucleus. The outward push of the Sun's complex solar wind may also play a role. The huge iceberg-like nucleus of Comet ATLAS appears to have broken up near its closest approach to the Sun two weeks ago. Unfortunately, Comet ATLAS and its tails are expected to fade significantly over the coming weeks.

Flying on a commercial airliner is significantly safer than going for a casual drive in your sensible sedan or SUV.

However, a plane crash is typically a much more violent, inhospitable environment than the average car accident.

Incidentally, a shocking NASA archive video shows just how chaotic and horrifying the interior of an airplane can be during a crash.

In the mid-1980s, an airliner crashed in the Mojave Desert. However, this was no accident. It was a deliberate crash experiment to research and test safety technologies to improve the survivability of a plane crash.

NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chose a fully-loaded Boeing 720 for the experiment.

While the 720 doesn’t fly anymore, it shares a similar formula with many modern airplanes. For instance, the Boeing 720 is a narrow-body four-engine airliner with two engines on each wing, not unlike the popular 737 airframe of today.

NASA and the FAA took four years to plan the crash. On the day of the experiment, they sent the airliner up with a small twin-engine chase aircraft.

The Boeing 720 approached the ground without landing gear. Interior camera footage captured the pilot test dummy flailing back and forth in the seat.

In the passenger compartment, test dummies shook in tandem with the aircraft’s movements.

The left-side wing and engines made contact with the ground before the rest of the aircraft. Consequently, the wounded aircraft rotated counter-clockwise as it skipped across the sandy surface.

However, the No. 3 engine burst into flames after contacting the ground, creating a massive fuel-fed plume of smoke and fire.

On the inside of the violent plane crash, flames swept from the right-hand side of the cockpit’s forward windows over the nose of the aircraft.

Terrifyingly, flames entered the passenger compartment as the dummies bounced in their seats.

If the sheer shock and violence of the impact weren’t enough, the explosive nature of the crash looked less than survivable.

Jet fuel burns much, much hotter than the gasoline you pump into your car. Incidentally, an immolating fuel load in a large airplane is an inhospitable environment.

Fortunately, the date reported contributed to “several key changes in fuel mixtures, cabin equipment, and cockpit technologies.”

Missouri man on FBI’s ‘Most Wanted’ list arrested in Lake County

Fields was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in May 2023, the agency said.

According to the release, Fields, 60, was federally indicted in St. Louis on Dec. 7, 2023, on one count of child sex trafficking. A distraught father has appealed for anyone to come forward with information about his daughter who vanished almost 20 years ago.

The man has recalled the frustration and horror of learning that his daughter, Jennifer Kesse, had vanished.

Speaking about the last time he spoke to his daughter way back in 2006, Drew Kesse explained everything seemed normal enough.

The then 24-year-old woman had just gotten back a weekend vacation with her boyfriend Rob and his family and returned home to Florida.

She had told her friends and family about how much of a lovely time she had but things took a turn when her parents struggled to get in contact with her.

Speaking to the Mail Online, about how he and his wife, Joyce, responded, he said: ”Since she was 15 and we gave her a phone and a car that was the first time she never answered and it went straight to voicemail.

We immediately knew right then that something was wrong. We took off for Orlando immediately.”

It was January 24, 2006, the morning after those final phone calls to her loved ones, and Jennifer had failed to show up to her job as a finance manager at Central Florida Investments Timeshare Company.

Inside Jennifer’s home everything appeared normal, and it looked like she had gotten ready for her day and left for work.

Her parents called the police and filed a missing person report and began organizing a desperate search for Jennifer.

Two days later, Jennifer's car was found abandoned around one mile away at a different condo complex at Huntington on the Green.

There was no sign of Jennifer or her belongings like her phone purse, Ipod or keys.

Grainy surveillance footage from the complex had captured an individual parking her car there and walking off at around 12pm on the day Jennifer went missing.

A team at NASA was brought in to help, in hopes they could enhance the image enough to give a clear view of the person of interest.

Unfortunately, despite their efforts, it proved unfruitful due to their face being obscured by fencing.

The person of interest is described as being around 5 foot 3 to 5 foot 5 tall with unusually large feet for his height and dressed in workman's clothes.

Jennifer’s father hopes that someone somewhere knows something about his daughter’s disappearance and speaks to the police.

He said: “After 19 years, it's just unfathomable that we don't even have any direction.

"Someone must know who that is [in the footage]. Someone has to know. If you know that person, you would look at that and know who that is. You can look at a picture and go 'oh yeah, that's my cousin, that's my son.

“If you know anything about Jennifer please just go to a lawyer, go to the police if you feel comfortable, or go to a priest if you feel comfortable doing that.”

The existence of water on Mars has long been a subject of curiosity and debate. A recently published study presents compelling evidence of ancient “wave ripples” in rocks that were shaped by Martian water and winds billions of years ago.

These ripples, imprinted on the Martian surface, speak to a time when shallow bodies of water were open to the Martian air.

The importance of these ripples cannot be overemphasized as they provide clear evidence of the existence of a standing body of water on Mars approximately 3.7 billion years ago.

This profound discovery paints a picture of a time when the Martian climate was seemingly warm enough to support liquid bodies water, not just frozen ice fields, that were open to the air.

“The shape of the ripples could only have been formed under water that was open to the atmosphere and acted upon by wind,” observed Claire Mondro, a postdoctoral scholar from The California Institute of Technology (CalTech) and the study’s first author.

Dr. Michael Lamb, a geology professor at Caltech, painstakingly created computer models based on these ripples to estimate the size of the ancient Martian lake.

Lamb’s extensive experience in studying sediment, water, and atmosphere interactions on Earth lent credibility to this model.

The ripples, a mere 6 millimeters high and spaced 4 to 5 centimeters apart suggest the existence of a shallow lake, no deeper than about 2 meters (6.5 feet).

Mondro’s observations lend further weight to these inferences. “Extending the length of time that liquid water was present extends the possibilities for microbial habitability later into Mars’s history,” she pointed out.

Discovering that Mars once had liquid water is a game-changer for our understanding of the planet and the broader possibilities of life beyond Earth.

Water is a fundamental ingredient for life as we know it, so finding evidence of past liquid water raises exciting questions about whether Mars could have supported microbial life.

Beyond the search for life, knowing that Mars had liquid water has practical implications for future human missions. Water is a crucial resource for astronauts, not only for drinking but also for producing oxygen and even rocket fuel.

If remnants of ancient water sources or ice deposits exist on Mars, they could be tapped into to support long-term human habitation and exploration.

These marvelous ripples went unnoticed until NASA’s Curiosity rover documented them in 2022 during its expedition across the Gale Crater region of Mars, a region that was once home to wind-blown dunes.

A nearby band of rock, the Amapari Marker Band, hinted at the existence of another lake, approximately 6.5 feet (2 meters) deep, that formed slightly later in Mars’s history than the previous one.

“The discovery of wave ripples is an important advance for Mars paleoclimate science,” noted John Grotzinger, the Harold Brown Professor of Geology at Caltech.

“The Curiosity rover discovered evidence for long-lived ancient lakes in 2014, and now, 10 years later, Curiosity has discovered ancient lakes that were free of ice, offering an important insight into the planet’s early climate,” added Grotzinger, a former project scientist for Curiosity’s Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission.

Strange cosmic explosion changes what we know about space

The recent detection of a cosmic explosion by the Einstein Probe is stirring excitement among space watchers everywhere.

Yuan Liu is an expert in the National Astronomical Observatories at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAO, CAS) and first author on a new paper describing the observation.

“It was really good to see the algorithm working fine for this event,” explained Liu, who also designed the onboard software that flagged this outburst.

Experts have identified the source of the explosion as a fast X-ray transient. It is tagged EP240315a and seems to be tied to a gamma-ray burst designated GRB 240315C.

Such intense flares are best known for releasing enormous energy across multiple wavelengths. Researchers are excited about the chance to match X-ray data with radio signals and figure out if standard models still hold.

Roughly an hour after the X-ray peak, observers in South Africa recorded matching visible light. Additional instruments in Hawaii and Chile confirmed a redshift that places this explosion about 12.5 billion light-years away.

This distance indicates that the blast happened when our cosmos was far younger. According to the research team, it is a rare glimpse of primordial processes that shaped early star formation.

The team collaborated with Roberto Ricci, University of Rome Tor Vergata, to investigate the outburst in radio wavelengths. The experts uncovered signs of a relativistic jet consistent with typical bursts from massive star collapse.

“Combining the power of X-ray and radio observations hands us a new way to explore these ancient explosions even without detecting their gamma rays,” said Roberto. This multi-wavelength approach is a strong clue to the burst’s overall energy release.

“Such a long delay has never been previously observed,” noted Hui Sun, a scientist at the Einstein Probe Science Center. EP240315a arrived hundreds of seconds before its corresponding gamma-ray signal.

This difference complicates standard ideas about what triggers the blasts. Researchers are weighing new explanations for how the burst engine might fire up in stages.

“This tells us something really new and maybe we have to rethink the models we have for gamma-ray bursts,” said Weimin Yuan, Einstein Probe’s principal investigator.

He pointed to the extended soft X-ray glow as a clue to unexpected activity in the source.

Scientists say more bursts are needed to confirm whether EP240315a is a one-off or part of a pattern. They hope these puzzling signals might show that gamma-ray bursts go through previously unseen phases.

“This is just the starting point and really demonstrates the potential of Einstein Probe to detect cosmic explosions from the early Universe,” said Weimin.

The probe’s wide field of view is expected to reveal more events in the distant corners of space.

“As soon as we opened the eyes of Einstein Probe to the sky, it found interesting new phenomena.

That’s pretty good and should mean that there are a lot more interesting discoveries to come,” noted Erik Kuulkers of the European Space Agency.

Einstein Probe is a joint project led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, partnering with the European Space Agency and other institutions.

The orobe was launched from China’s Xichang site on January 9, 2024 with instruments ready to scan for uncharted X-ray outbursts.

The Follow-up X-ray Telescope locks onto sources flagged by its wide-view partner. This two-part approach helps scientists gather quick signals and then take a deeper look without missing fleeting moments.

High-redshift detections can reveal how stars and galaxies formed under extreme conditions. Fresh data from future telescopes may confirm patterns or highlight even more surprises.

A few of these explosions could help astronomers piece together the puzzle of early cosmic history. They also hope to refine ideas about massive star endings and black hole birth.

Scientists remain intrigued by the bursts that appear more energetic at different stages. They are hopeful that more in-depth studies will confirm whether we need to revamp long-held assumptions.

Experts hope new detections will truly clarify massive star endings. The observations might reshape how we view ancient cosmic events.

US President Donald Trump has vowed to no longer let Canada “take advantage” of the US, once again stating that he wants to make the neighboring country America’s 51st state. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, Trump said Canada would not even exist without US subsidies and business cooperation.

Trump made similar remarks in the run-up to his inauguration earlier this month, suggesting that his administration could make Canada part of the US. Ottawa has dismissed these suggestions.

Ukrainian Drones Slam Russian Oil Refinery, Sparking Inferno – Again

Ukrainian drones attacked the Ryazan Oil Refinery on the night of Jan. 26, the second time in three days, causing a large-scale fire, according to media accounts.

Kyiv also hit the a Russian forward command post located near the village of Korenevo, Kursk Oblast, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 15 Ukrainian drones were destroyed by air defense systems – eight over the Ryazan region, six over the Kursk region, and one over the Belgorod region, in Russia.

Overnight, the governor of Ryazan Oblast, Pavel Malkov, reported on the drone attack.

Russian telegram channels, citing eyewitnesses, claim that the Ryazan refinery was again the target of the attack. The ASTRA telegram channel reported that the refinery was likely on fire after the attack.

ASTRA geolocated the footage of the fire, which has been distributed in local media and chat rooms.

It assessed that the fire was indeed filmed in Ryazan, in the area of the plant, but given the previous attack on the same facility on the night of Jan. 23-24, it is hard to confirm the date of filming.

The Telegram channel VChK-OGPU writes that the Ryazan refinery has been cordoned off, and a large number of fire engines are arriving at the plant.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, confirmed the strike on the refinery in his Telegram channel, writing:

“The Ryazan refinery is doing its job. This is fuel for military equipment and not only.”

Temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft are reported to have been introduced early Sunday morning at the airports of Izhevsk and Kazan, a representative of Rosaviatsia said in a telegram.

The airports suspended flights “for the safety of civilian aircraft flights.”

The restrictions were lifted at the Kazan airport at 7 a.m. local time, and the Izhevsk airport was opened half an hour later.

On the night Jan. 23-24 of Russian authorities reported that more than 120 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV – drones) were launched against several Russian regions overnight on.

Norwegian police have arrested five Polish nationals for allegedly operating drones in a restricted area near the headquarters of the Norwegian counterintelligence agency, officials said on Sunday.

The individuals are accused of violating a flight ban around the Kolsås military base, located on the outskirts of Oslo.

The facility houses the Norwegian Security Service (NSM), which oversees counterintelligence and cybersecurity, as well as NATO units supporting air operations in Northern Europe.

Police said they had deployed significant resources, including ahelicopter, to locate the drone operators. Following their detention, the suspects were taken into temporary custody.

"The scope of charges will be determined after reviewing the recordings we have secured.

At this point, it is difficult to estimate how extensive it will be," said Sven Christian Maximillian Lie from Oslo police's operational command.

The Polish Embassy in Oslo stated it had no official information about the arrests.

🚨The following story was told by Michael Shane Daughtry, a J6 survivor.

I'm going to relay it in the exact same way that he wrote it out. Just when you think his story cannot get crazier, it does. His story is one of full-on corruption, and he exposes names.

My name is Michael Shane Daughtry and this is my January 6th Story.

I was a Police Officer with SWAT and Sniper Certifications, 20+ years Police experience and over a thousand hours of training. I'm also a Master Gunsmith with a Federal Firearms License and a Gunsmithing Business with over 10 years experience.

On January 6th 2021, I traveled to Washington DC with my wife Tammie to watch the Trump Rally. As the rally was completing, the President of the United States told the crowd to go to the West Lawn and "peacefully" protest, which we did.As we arrived at the West Lawn, the police officers removed the barricades and waved us onto the West Lawn. I had video of this but the FBI later raided my home and confiscated this Video.I never went into the Capital Building or damaged any property but I did later observe people causing damageto the Capital Building so I took a few pictures of these people and then returned to my motel room, we returned home the next morning.

On January 16th, I was charged with trespassing on the West Lawnon January 6th even though the President had ask me to go there and the police had moved the barricades and waved me onto the West Lawn.

The FBI contacted me around midnight and asked me to turn myself into the Federal Marshalls at the Federal Courthouse in Macon by 9:00 am the next morning. I voluntarily turned myself into the Federal Marshalls at the Federal Courthouse in Macon Ga. Upon arrival I was advised by Federal Marshalls that Pelham Police Investigator Adam Lamb, Assistant Chief Rod Williams and Chief Mccormick had turned me in to the FBI after finding out I was in DC.

In 2020 I was working as a Police Officer for the Pelham Police Departmentand also owned a Firearms Gunsmithing Company named "Cazy Coon Armory" My business was named after my pet Raccoon that was named Rocket but we always called him "Crazy Ole Coon". On November 13th 2020, Pelham Police Department Investigator Adam Lamb had showed up to my home stating Police Cheif McCormack had fired me for having a Logo with a picture of a Racoon on it with the words "Crazy Coon Armory"telling me that the logo had the word "Coon" on it and that made it a Racist Logo. The police department said they didn't know I had an outside business with that name even though it was on my resume and on my application for employment. I had also worked on several of the Pelham Police Department weapons including pistols and full auto rifles at Crazy Coon Armory.

The paperwork they asked me to sign stated I was being fired for being a Racist. I refused to sign this separation letter. After I was fired, without even being giving a chance to resign, I decided to expose the Pelham Police Department and it's very corrupt Chief for several of the crimes they had committed and were committing including insurance fraud, illegal gambling and cover ups. I was posting this corruption on my Facebook Page and the City of Pelhams Facebook Page every night which made the Police very angery and this was the reason for turning me into the FBI so they could silence me.

After the Marshalls read me this affidavit, I was put into a jail cell for several hours before being brought before a Federal Magistrate Judge.Even though I was a Law Enforcement Officer with no other criminal record, I was placed in handcuffs, leg irons and belly chains and was advised not to speak. And even though I'm a certified Law Enforcement Officer, have never been arrested or charged with any other crime in my life and had gotten up before daylight and driven over 100 miles to turn myself in,the judge advised me that I was a flight risk and ordered me to wear an ankle monitor, be place under House Arrest, placed on Pre Trial Probation, forced to post $25,000 bond and was placed on Tap 4 internet restrictions saying I couldn't use any computers our internet. At that time I was not allowed to make a plea and was not allowed to plea until over 18 months later.

I was appointed a public defender without even being asked. I had a very experienced federal attorney that was willing to take my case for free but I was advised that I could not have an attorney of my choosing and could only hire an attorney from the Washington DC District that was certified to take cases in federal court in DC. The only attorney I could find meeting these requirements wanted over $100,000 plus $10,000 per hearing which I had 5, which would have been a total of $150,000.00 and my case isn't even over yet.

Upon my release from jail late on January 16th, I returned home where my home and firearms business was immediately raided by Federal Agents that were waiting at my property. Numerous Federal Agents searched my home and property without a warrant and all my weapons and ammo were confiscated from my home and from my licensed firearms business, all for a crime that I would not lose my 2nd amendment rights even if I were convicted.

*Names, Addresses, Birthdays and Social Security Numbers of all my family members.

*Names, phone numbers and Addresses of my friends.

*Names, Addresses and Birthdays of any Ex Wives and Children.

Early the next morning Federal agents confiscated all my FFL files including my FFL Log Book and 4473 files. Later that day, my home was raided again by Federal Agents who confiscated my phone and searched all my computers and electronic devices. My phone was not returned for 2 weeks. I was under court order to not use any other phone or computer so I was without any communication with friends, family or my attorneys for two weeks. This also gave the Federal Government access to all my email and text message communications between my attorney and myself.

I was then forced to pay for home phone service and to pay for phone monitoring services and monthly fees for my ankle monitor.

Approximately a year later my home was again searched without a warrant and without any explanation and I was threated with a probation condition violation if I complained about the searches of my property and that a probation violation would have a 17 year felony sentence.

Three weeks later, my home was again raided and all my electronic devices including my phone, computer, thumb drives, hard drives and memory cards were searched then confiscated. My desktop computer was confiscated without explanation and Federal Agents said they didn't know when my computer would be returned. This computer contained all the files needed to file my taxes that month, all my social security files I needed to file for my retirement benefits and all my private correspondence between my attorneys. This computer also contained all the software needed to run my business. My computer and phone were not returned for two weeks. When I received my phone back I noticed that all my pictures and videos that I had taken January 6th were missing including the video evidence I had of the Capital Police removing barriers and waving me onto the West Lawn of the Capital that I was charged with trespassing on. I also noticed my FFL Digital Logbook had been removed from my computer and my FFL Logbook backup files had been removed from my Google Drive Account that I had been forced to give the login information. Federal Agents had already taken my hardcopy FFL Logbook and 4473 files in a previous search of my firearms business so they now had all my FFL Files not even leaving me a copy.

On the 16th of May 2020, one of her columns was published with the headline, ‘Men are less likely to wear masks – another sign that toxic masculinity kills’. She said in the column, “A number of men (including Trump) think masks make them look weak – a reminder of how damaging gender stereotypes are”. A couple of months later, she published another column, this time with the headline, ‘Shaming people who refuse to wear face masks isn’t a good look’. And no, this is not a joke.

It is not a one-off incident. It is a consistent feature of her columns. In September 2019, Arwa Mahdawi published a column with the headline, ‘Why Ivanka Trump’s new haircut should make us very afraid’. Apparently, “Her (Ivanka Trump’s) political bob (pob) may be an attempt to get us to take her ambitions more seriously”.

Less than 30 days later, Arwa Mahdawi published a column with the headline that said, ‘The uproar over AOC’s hair is a reminder that women can’t win under the patriarchy’. One cannot make this stuff up.

Arwa Mahdawi has other hits to her credit as well. During the Antifa riots in the USA in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd, she explicitly defend the rioting and suggested that violence is the only way to end police brutality and ‘systemic racism’. In her column titled, ‘If violence isn’t the way to end racism in America, then what is?’, she stated, “The uncomfortable truth is that, sometimes, violence is the only answer left.”

Mahdawi further argued in the article, “But if violent unrest isn’t the answer then what is? How exactly do you go about ending police brutality and systemic racism in America? Should protesters go home and write sternly worded letters to their representative? Should they emulate Madonna and post videos of their kids dancing in protest? Should they peacefully take a knee? Should Americans simply vote Trump out and vote Joe Biden in instead? You know, the guy whose 1994 crime bill significantly contributed to mass incarceration in America? Should people patiently wait for incremental change?”

Another of her stellar hits was on air conditioning. Arwa Mahdawi wrote in a November 2019 column titled, ‘Is your home constantly set to a ‘sexist’ temperature? You’re not alone’, “A new study finds men tend to get their way in household temperature discussions while women must compromise”.

She stated, “Are you a victim of thermal bullying? Does your partner or roommate always get their way when it comes to how hot your house is? If you answered “yes” then stay strong – you’re not alone. According to a new study, conducted by researchers from Ohio State University, a lot of households contain a “thermostat dictator” who rules the temperature dial with an iron fist. ROME — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently published a sharp letter excoriating the Vatican’s plans to renew an agreement with the Chinese government on Church operations in China. He promoted the article in a tweet, concluding, “The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal.”

An indignant Vatican took the article more as a calculated affront than a diplomatic gesture. The friction broke into the open on Wednesday as Mr. Pompeo arrived in Rome and met with prelates and others who are hostile to Pope Francis, while the Vatican denied him a meeting with the pontiff and rebuffed his efforts to derail the deal with China.

“Pompeo asked to meet” the pope, who turned him down because Francis had “clearly said that he does not receive political figures ahead of the elections,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who, as secretary of state, is the Vatican’s second-ranking official, told reporters.

But to some observers on both sides of the tensions between the Roman Catholic Church and the Trump administration, Mr. Pompeo’s visit is as much about the coming presidential election as about China policy. Mr. Pompeo dismissed that suggestion as absurd, but intended or not, his trip signals that President Trump is on the side of those conservative American Catholics who worry about the church’s direction under Francis and think he is soft on China.

Francis and Mr. Trump, who have exchanged sharp words in the past, present starkly different visions on issues ranging from the environment to immigration to the threat of populism. In appealing to the Vatican’s support for religious freedom as a reason to drop its China agreement, Mr. Pompeo seemed to seek common ground, but in a way that upset the pope’s chief allies and delighted his chief critics.

Cardinal Parolin said Mr. Pompeo’s article had caused “surprise” at the Vatican, because this visit to Rome by the secretary and the meetings with high officials at the Holy See had already been in the works and would have been a “more opportune” forum for airing grievances. He added that Mr. Pompeo’s choice to publish in First Things, a conservative Christian magazine that has called Francis a failure as Pope, also mattered.

Even though I've only been charged with a non violent, misdemeanor crime, I've been on house arrest for almost two years for a crime that carries a maximum punishment of less than a year. I have not been allowed to plea in this case.

When I asked about my 6th Amendment right to a speedy trial,I was advised by Federal Court Judge Randolph D. Moss that the Sixth Amendment had been suspended due to Covid-19 and the large number of arrest made from the January 6th incident. The Sixth Amendment also gives me the right to a Fair Trial, does this mean I didn't have the right to a fair trail either?I'm not sure how a Federal Court Judge can legally suspend one of the Bill of Rights.

In June 2022, I was told by prosecutors that I could plea guilty to Trespassing on the Grass or face going to court in Washington DC on several other (made up) felony charges that they knew I had not committed. So because I had no chance of a fair trail and facing several false charges, I was forced to plead guilty to Trespassing on the Restricted West Lawn. My plea agreement stated the maximum amount of probation I could receive would be one year but for this non violent misdemeanor crime, I was sentenced to:

1: Two additional months of House Arrest with Location Monitoring for a total of 18 months.

2: Three additional years of Supervised Federal Probation with travel restrictions for a total of 4 years and 8 months of Supervised Federal Probation even though the plea agreement I had signed stated a maximum of 1 year probation.

3: Firearm Confiscation and Restrictions in clear violation of my 2nd amendment rights.

4: Mandatory random drug testing even though I have no drug history. I have passed all these tests.

5: Mandatory mental health evaluation, even though I have no mental health history. I passed this test.

6: $525.00 in restitution for damage to the Capital Building even though I never entered or even touched the Capital Building. I paid this fine.

7: 60 hours of community service. I completed all the community service.

After my sentencing, my home was again searched by a Federal Probation Agent who searched backpacks, closed closets, closed drawers, including my girlfriends underwear drawers even though they had a court order advising that Probation Agents could only take illegal items that are "In Plain Sight".

My home has now been searched 7 times in 4 years. It's been searched by the FBI, the Federal Marshalls, the DOJ, and Federal Probation several times. Everyone always come wearing SWAT vests and heavily armed even though the only crime I've ever been accused of is illegally walking on the grass.

The government then, using a fake name and phone number, attempted to send firearms to my FFL business through www.guns. on two different occasions in one week. I recognized this persons voice as Assistant U.S. Attorney Graciela Rodriguez Lindberg. Another person then, using another fake name and number called asking if they could bring a firearm to my business for an appraisal. I recognized this person's voice as my probation officer even though he was giving me another name. I told the person that I could not look at the gun and advised him that my business was closed. I also lied and told this person that I was out of state at the time so they would leave me alone. I'm on travel restrictions and can't go out of state so my probation officer almost immediately called and asked my location and when I told him I was home, a person stating he had just spoken to to me about the gun appraisal arrived at my home even though I had refused to look at the gun and had told him I was out of state. This person had a different voice, was extremely pushy and would not take no for an answer even when I told him several more times that I couldn't look at his firearm. This person then opened his vehicle trunk stating he was going show the gun to me anyway. At this time I drove away on my off road buggy leaving him at my home. When I later returned home this person was gone.

I was then contacted by Police Officer Safety & Training Officials stating my law enforcement certification is being revoked for not reporting my arrest to them even though the federal government had taken my phones, computers, I had federal imposed internet restrictions and was on house arrest with no way to contact POST. Also the Federal Agents who confiscated my phones and computers advised me they would contact P.O.S.T. for me because of all my communication restrictions.

D.C. National Guard Whistleblowers Testify Over J6 Delay

The Committee on House Administrations Oversight panel met to hear testimonies from whistleblowers on why it took so long for the National Guard to respond to the Capitol on January 6th, 2021.

Lawmakers met for witness testimony in a hearing called “Three Years Later: D.C. National Guard Whistleblowers Speak Out on January 6 Delay” on Wednesday.

Chairman Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) kicked off the hearing by shedding light on a November 2021 report from the Department of Defense’s Acting Inspector General. The report detailed the DOD’s response to January 6th, claiming that the National Guard was deployed as soon as possible.

However, the Georgia Republican said it took three hours and 19 minutes to deploy troops on January 6th after receiving orders.

Those testifying Wednesday included:

Colonel Earl Matthews – Chief Legal Advisor, D.C. Army National Guard

Command Sergeant Major Michael Brooks – Senior Enlisted Officer, D.C. Army National Guard

Captain Timothy Nick – Aide-de-camp, D.C. Army National Guard

Brigadier General Aaron Dean – Adjutant General, D.C. Army National Guard

In regards to the Inspector General’s 2021 report, Loudermilk said the report concludes that the leader of the National Guard response, Maj. Gen. William Walker, received two orders from then U.S. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy to deploy troops to the Capitol, once at 4:45 pm and again at 5:00 pm.

“Walker denies that either of these calls took place,” Loudermilk said. “Despite the many inconsistencies and contradictions of the DOD’s responsibility that day, the select committee on January 6th ignored these discrepancies despite them being shared privately by their own staff and barreled forward with the DOD’s side of the story.”

The hearing comes after the oversight panel published a never-before released transcribed interview from Trump’s former White House deputy chief of staff Anthony Ornato, which showed that the former president offered 10,000 National troops to secure the Capitol. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D-Washington D.C.), however, rejected the call.

Loudermilk said the now-defunct January select committee withheld Ornato’s “critical witness testimony from the American people because it contradicted their predetermined narrative.”

Colonel Earl Matthews accused two senior officers of the army, Gen. Charles Flynn and Lt. Gen. Walter Piatt of lying to Congress and federal investigators about why it took so long to deploy the National Guard.

“That DOD IG report is replete with incorrect, false information,” Matthews asserted.

The inspector general blamed the delay on lack of coordination but all witnesses said the National Guard was ready, had the DOD told them to go when they were supposed to.

Matthews sent a memo to the House J6 committee as well as a Senate committee accusing the Army officers of misleading Congress after the 2021 report.

Since coming forward, Matthews hasn’t been promoted. This comes after a promotion board in November 2022 recommended he was one of the “best qualified” group of Army Reserve colonels to be promoted to brigadier general.

He later filed a complaint alleging retaliation for testifying to Congress and asked for those responsible to be reprimanded.

“If public confidence in the integrity of government operations is to be restored,” the complaint said, “he must be made whole and the responsible officials appropriately disciplined.”

Also during Wednesday’s testimony, Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Brooks, said the delay was due to Secretary McCarthy and other officials being more concerned about “optics.”

“I have no idea why we never received that order,” Brooks said. “All I do know is that they were more concerned with what it would look like with soldiers with the Capitol in the background than protecting the Capitol of the united states.”

Loudermilk said the hearing left them with more questions that need to be answered.

Now I've been contacted by the Department of Justice stating they were processing my request for a refund on my FFL renewal even though I haven't requested a refund. The D.O.J. then contacted me by phone and stated my Federal Firearms License is being revoked even though I haven't committed any crime that would prevent me from possessing a firearm or FFL.

Today I was contacted by my probation officer stating the ATF had contacted him stating that the ATF had requested me to send my FFL files to the ATF and that I had not responded to their request. I hadn't received any requests from the ATF and can't understand why they contacted my probation officer. The ATF has my phone number, Email Address, Mailing Address, and Physical Address that's required for my FFL, I'm very easy to contact. Even though the ATF field officer is required to do regular inspections of my FFL Business, I haven't be contacted by the field officer since I was arrested three years ago and the only correspondence I've had with the ATF was a letter in February 2023 stating I owed them $90 for my FFL renewal. I sent this letter back with a check which they cashed.

Today the ATF Agent contacted me stating my FFL renewal was denied because I failed a background check and stated I was now a convicted felon and could never own a firearm again. After notifying my attorney, the agent called back the next day stating that the FBI had "accidentally mis-coded" my case into the computer and I was not a felon or restricted person but they refused to give my FFL back even though they now had no reason to deny me.The ATF advised me that I was required by law the send them all my FFL Files. I advised the agent that all my FFL Files had been confinscated the day after my arrest.

Now I've been contacted by an ATF Agent who stated he couldn't find any agency that would admit taking my files and then threatened me several times with felony charges for Retention of Files for not returning 4473 files that the government had already confinscated 3 years previous. I advised the ATF that my files had been confinscated previously by two unknown government agents who took my files and left without identifying themselves or giving me any paperwork.The ATF Agent called me a liar several times and every time he called me a liar, I hung up on him. I advised the agent that I would try to find a backup copy of my digital log book somewhere but I was going out of state to take my wife to court as a witness in an unrelated case for about a week and that I had court approval for this trip. A few days later I traveled to court about 5 hours away in Tuscaloosa Alabama and asked my neighbor, who is a Newton Georgia Police Officer, to watch my property and feed our animals until we returned home. On the third day out of state, I received a notification from my security system stating my power had been off but was back on. I was told by authorities that the power had went out for about 30 minutes in the entire city of Newton for an unknown reason. I looked at my security cameras to check on my home and animals and noticed a package holding my storm door partially open and it had been placed there while the power and my cameras were out. I asked the officer to check the package and asked if he would make sure someone hadn't mailed a firearm to my home FFL for repair because I'm restricted from possessing firearms. The officer stated that the box didn't have a shipping label and appeared to contain FFL files and folders. It appears that the Federal Agents (DOJ, I believe) who illegally took my files got scared of all the inquiries and returned my files. The only markings on this box was my federal case number. The Officer took the FFL files into evidence, put them into the evidence room at Newton Police Department and contacted the ATF Agent. The next day the officer called me to say he had notified the ATF about recovering the files and that the ATF Agent was going to recover the files from the police department. The ATF continued to threaten me with felony charges of Retention of Files even after the files were recovered by the ATF Agent.

I've contacted my court appointed attorney's office 6 timesover the past year advising them that I needed to speak with my attorney with no response other than the secretary advising me that the attorney is very busy.

It's now September 2024 and my home has again been searched by the Federal Government who again found nothing illegal in my home.

On January 30th 2024, I contacted my attorney's office and asked for a transcript of my motion for a speedy trial.During this previous hearing, I was advised that I didn't have the right to a fair and speedy trial because the 6th Amendment had been suspended by the Federal Court because of Covidand the large number of arrest during January 6th. My attorney's secretary told me that there was no transcript becausethe judge said there was no court reporter during this hearingand the video of the proceedings are not available to the public. I was also warned at the beginning of that Speedy Trial hearing that it was a Federal Felony for me to record my own hearing.

This is the type of government corruption that all January 6th defendants have faced and if they can do this to me then they can do it to you one day also. This is just 1 of over 1500 similar stories with many of them much, much worst than mine.

Trump DOJ drops case against doctor who exposed transgender treatment for minors

The Trump administration’s flurry of first-week legal actions included the dismissal of a Biden-era case against a doctor who blew the whistle on Texas Children’s Hospital for performing gender-change procedures on minors.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas granted Friday a motion by federal prosecutors to drop the case against Dr. Eithan Haim, who was charged with wrongful disclosure for leaking records in 2023 showing that the hospital continued to provide gender-transition drugs for children after saying it had stopped doing so.

The Burke Law Group, which represented the doctor, said the charges were dismissed with prejudice “so that the federal government can never again come after him for blowing the whistle on the secret pediatric transgender program.”
