Microsoft Drops USAID-Funded NewsGuard After Ted Cruz Starts Digging

 

Microsoft has dropped NewsGuard, a left-wing fact checking organization they partnered with that has helped the advertising industry justify blacklists for independent conservative media sites such as ZeroHedge

 

The move came after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) began investigating Microsoft for funding the online "media literacy" censorship tool created by NewsGuard to help guide "learners of all ages through the overwhelming landscape of online news and information."

 

Now we come to find out that NewsGuard was funded by USAID.

 

NewsGuard has since removed any mention of Microsoft from their website.

 

"Big Tech is finally beginning to recognize the censorship of conservative viewpoints will no longer be tolerated by the American people," Cruz, chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, said in a statement to Newsmax on Thursday.

 

"I am happy to see that the leadership at Microsoft has renounced their support of NewsGuard's so-called media literacy tool in response to my letter.

 

"NewsGuard's biased rating system stifles intellectual diversity, hinders critical thinking among young students, and undermines our nation's core values of free expression."

 

In his letter to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Cruz pointed out that NewsGuard has targeted outlets such as The Federalist, The Daily Wire, and NewsMax, branding them as "unreliable," while left-wing outlets such as Jacobin, The Atlantic, and The New Republic are deemed reliable.

 

NewsGuard has also "found a willing partner in the American Federation of Teachers (AFT)" to use their "media literacy" tool browser extension used by over 800 public libraries worldwide.

 

In November, Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Brendan Carr, now chairman, wrote to the CEOs of Apple, Meta, Microsoft, and Alphabet demanding that they fess up about their censorship activities targeting conservatives.

 

Carr specifically identified NewsGuard, which exists to "censor free speech and conservative news outlets." -Newsmax

How USAID funded terror states which killed US soldiers

 

USAID sent $9.3B to Islamic terror states that killed 3,000 American soldiers. And over $18 billion to Islamic terrorist states.

 

“It is really, really a sad day in America,” Rep. Ilhan Omar declared at a rally protesting the reconstruction of USAID.

 

It wasn’t a sad day for America, but it was so for Somalia.

 

Over the last two years, USAID doled out $2.3 billion in “humanitarian assistance” to Omar’s native Somalia. Last year it reported a request for $1.6 billion in aid and even in December 2024, with the Biden administration on the way out the door, it sent an additional $29 million.

 

USAID support for Somalia had doubled under the Biden administration and with $3.3 billion from USAID allocated in the last 5 years. the threatened withdrawal of funding must have been a painful blow for Omar, who is very close to the Somali regime. Former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Khaire had stated “the interest of Ilhan are not Ilhan’s, it’s not the interest of Minnesota, nor is it the interest of the American people, the interest of Ilhan is that of the Somalian people and Somalia.”

 

Somalia, along with other Islamic terrorist entities, including the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Houthis in Yemen, and Hamas in Gaza, were among the top beneficiaries of USAID cash.

 

USAID sent $2.1 billion to Gaza and the "West Bank" since the Hamas attacks of Oct 7. In 2024 alone, $917 million was programmed for the terrorist areas occupying Israel.

 

USAID provided over $3.7 billion to Afghanistan since the Taliban took over with $832 million in the previous fiscal year alone. The money was so unaccountable that USAID refused to cooperate with SIGAR: the government watchdog tracking spending in Afghanistan intent on blocking money from aiding terrorists.

 

Even while the United States of America was at war with the Houthis, the Islamic terrorist group firing on US Navy vessels out of Yemen, USAID continued to direct billions of dollars to Yemen. In 2024, USAID announced a $2.7 billion aid request for Yemen and allocated $753 million. Over the last 5 years, it doled out $3.4 billion.

 

Other Islamic terrorist states that have heavily drawn on USAID include Pakistan which harbored Osama bin Laden, but benefited from $600 million in the last 5 years. While some American towns and cities lacked clean drinking water, USAID labored to build plants for Pakistan’s majority Muslim population even while it engaged in the persecution of Christians.

 

USAID spent over $700 million on Iraq during the last 5 years even though the country has long since been governed by Iranian puppets whose militias have been firing on American soldiers.

 

$3.4 billion was directed to Syria over the past 5 years by USAID even as it was caught in a civil war between Shiite Islamists aligned with Iran and Sunni Islamists aligned with Al Qaeda.

 

USAID allocated $1.1 billion to spend on Lebanon even as the country was run by Hezbollah.

 

While USAID is unable to function in Iran, between Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, over $8 billion was sent to Iranian puppet regimes aligned with terrorism.

 

USAID had spent some $18.5 billion on Islamic terror states over those 5 years.

Putin Invites Trump To Visit Moscow In 'Highly Productive' Call, Ready For Peace

 

US President Trump and Russian President Putin held a nearly hour-and-a-half call this morning which the US president described as "lengthy and highly productive."

 

Trump said on Truth Social that both leaders had extended invitations of "visiting each other's nations," while, the US leader said he would be calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "right now" to inform him about the call.

 

President Trump took to his Truth Social account to explain what was discussed (emphasis ours):

 

I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

 

We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, Energy, Artificial Intelligence, the power of the Dollar, and various other subjects. We both reflected on the Great History of our Nations, and the fact that we fought so successfully together in World War II, remembering, that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we, likewise, lost so many!

 

We each talked about the strengths of our respective Nations, and the great benefit that we will someday have in working together.

 

But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine.

 

President Putin even used my very strong Campaign motto of, “COMMON SENSE.”

 

We both believe very strongly in it. We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s Nations. We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now.

US needs to engage, as well as deter, China to maintain space leadership: CFR report

In order to protect its leadership in space, the United States needs to out-compete China and deter its ability to successfully attack US space assets, but also needs to seek “targeted” engagement with Beijing to improve communications and find areas of mutual benefit such as space traffic management, finds a new report by the Council on Foreign Relations.

 

The report, “Securing Space: A Plan for U.S. Action,” was crafted by an expert task force co-chaired by retired Space Force Lt. Gen. Nina Armagno and former California Congresswoman Jane Harman.

Recognizing that space has become both a “strategic vulnerability” and a “strategic imperative” for the United States, the report lays out both hard and soft power actions that the authors maintain are necessary for the US government in order to keep its current leadership role in the face of increased competition.

 

“In the increasingly chaotic realm of space, the United States’ position is slipping. In 1957, the Soviet Union’s launch of the Sputnik satellite was a wakeup call, spurring the United States to assume a dominant role in space.

Today, nearly seventy years later, the United States is in danger of losing that privileged position. In many ways, the country risks another Sputnik moment,” the report finds.

The US government thus “needs to act now to address threats to space assets; champion space traffic management to support the growing space economy; and incorporate commercial perspectives into civilian and national security space policy,” it sums up.

 

The CFR report makes seven recommendations for the new Trump administration as it crafts its approach to space across the civil, commercial and defense spheres:

  • Make space a top national priority. The report urges President Donald Trump to call a cross-sector space summit to assess national priorities, including relooking the controversial question of declaring “some key space systems” as “critical infrastructure.”

  • Revitalize American international leadership in space. This includes giving the National Security Council a strong hand in guiding policy, and at least considering the potential value of continuing the National Space Council. (A number of Trump advisers, reportedly including Vice - - - President J.D. Vance and Elon Musk, have been questioning the viability of the council.)

  • Fix the vulnerability problem and enhance deterrence. Measures should include “enhancing domain awareness, proliferating and widely distributing space assets to increase their resiliency, hardening space assets against various modes of attack, providing space assets with defensive capabilities, and developing replacement assets that can be deployed quickly when needed.”

  • Sharpen policy on China and seek strategic engagement on hotline issues — such as communications, space traffic management and astronaut rescue.

  • Build on existing international regimes to improve space traffic management. “This effort should involve developing ‘rules of the road’ to deconflict space activities, avoid collisions and other accidents, and mitigate risk from space debris. And it should involve U.S. allies, partners, and even adversaries,” the report elaborates.

  • Incorporate the commercial sector and other relevant nonstate actors. One way to help accomplish this, the CFR authors suggest, would be to develop an advisory council that would meet regularly to provide the government with expertise on space traffic management issues.

  • Treat space as global commons. The report cautions that the United States “may not always be the first to reach new destinations in space,” and thus argues that Washington should strongly support continued adherence to the 1967 Outer Space Treaty in ensuring that space cannot be claimed as territory by any country.

Massive Overnight Russian Strike On Kiev Used Ballistic Missiles, Over 120 Drones

 

Russia has confirmed its forces launched major overnight missile strikes on Ukrainian military plants as well as energy infrastructure. Kiev suffered significant damage, resulting in casualties and several fires in the city.

 

A Wednesday statement by the defense ministry said that Russian forces had carried out a "group missile strike on workshops of Ukrainian military-industrial complex enterprises producing unmanned aerial vehicles and FPV drones."

 

"The goals of the strikes have been accomplished, all designated facilities have been hit," it said. The oblasts of Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Chernigov were struck in the widespread assault.

 

Importantly the attack involved Iskander-M ballistic missiles and over 120 drones, which Ukrainian forces claiming to have shot down seven Iskanders and 71 UAVs, according to Russian media sources.

 

The Ukrainian capital appears to have been one of the hardest hit cities in the wave of strikes, which has been a rarity over the last year. One person was killed there, and four injured, including a nine-year-old girl, Kiev's mayor said.

In 1987 the US Supreme Court overturned as unconstitutional a Houston Texas Ordinance that read “It shall be unlawful for any person to assault, strike or in any manner oppose, molest, abuse or interrupt any policeman in the execution of his duty, or any person summoned to aid in making an arrest.”The court reasoned that first amendment protected free speech can not be interference/obstruction.

 

Writing the 8-1 majority opinion for the court, the"freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation from a police state.”

 

Protected speech, even if it takes a cops attention, CAN NOT BE INTERFERENCE. The only speech that can be interference/obstruction is threats (let him go or else!) or lies (he went that way!), protected speech can not.

 

We also have a constitutionally protected right to record police in their duties, as upheld by the courts. Arizona tried setting a minimum distance of just eight feet and it was overturned as unconstitutional. Indiana tried twenty five feet, also unconstitutional. We have a RIGHT to record BOTH video and audio from close enough to see/hear.

Watchdog: Israel behind most reporter deaths in 2024; IDF: Many were terror operatives

Last year was the deadliest for journalists in recent history, with at least 124 reporters killed — and Israel responsible for nearly 70 percent of that total, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) claimed Wednesday.

 

Shortly after the report was released, the Israel Defense Forces responded by insisting that it does not intentionally target journalists in the Gaza Strip, while noting that many on the list are members of terror groups.

 

The uptick in killings, which marks a 22% increase over 2023, reflects “surging levels of international conflict, political unrest and criminality worldwide,” the CPJ said.

 

It was the deadliest year for reporters and media workers since CPJ began keeping records more than three decades ago, with journalists murdered across 18 different countries, it said.

 

A total of 85 journalists died in the Hamas-instigated Gaza war, “all at the hands of the Israeli military,” the CPJ charged, adding that 82 of them were Palestinians.

 

CPJ accused Israel of attempting to stifle investigations of incidents, shift blame onto journalists, and ignore its duty to hold people to account for the killings.

 

“The war in Gaza is unprecedented in its impact on journalists and demonstrates a major deterioration in global norms on protecting journalists,” CPJ CEO Jodie Ginsberg said in a statement.

 

The Israeli military rejected the report.

 

“The IDF takes all possible measures to minimize harm to civilians, including journalists. The IDF has never, and never will, intentionally target journalists,” the military said in response to a query by The Times of Israel.

 

“In light of the ongoing exchange of fire, being in an active combat zone carries risks. The IDF will continue to combat threats while making an ongoing effort to minimize harm to civilians. The IDF only directs its attacks toward military targets and militants and does not attack civilian sites or civilians, including media and journalists,” the statement continued.

 

“Under international humanitarian law, a member of an organized armed group [such as the military wing of Hamas], or a person directly participating in hostilities, is considered a lawful target. As it seems, many on the published list include members of the military wing of Hamas and are therefore lawful targets under international law,” the IDF added.

 

Israel vowed to destroy Hamas for its October 2023 onslaught in which 1,200 people were killed, most of them civilians, and 251 taken hostage.

 

More than 48,000 Palestinians have been killed in the ensuing war, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, which doesn’t differentiate between civilians and combatants. Israel says it has killed 21,000 Hamas fighters since the war began.

Syria Planting Landmines Along Lebanon Border as Tensions Linger

 

Commanders accuse Hezbollah of being behind cross-border drug trade

 

The Syrian government is now announcing that, having “swept” the border areas with Lebanon, they are in the process of planting landmines at every road and crossing that heads into their neighboring country. They termed these “illegal” border crossings.

 

In practice, the border is historically not strictly enforced between Syria and Lebanon everywhere, and some towns, like Haweek, just plain span both sides of the border, with Lebanese and Syrian residents living side by side.

 

Syria’s Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s (HTS) crackdown in Haweek was the start of this border crisis last week. HTS raided the mostly Shi’ite town as it had so many others, but faced substantial resistance from Lebanese clans living there, leading to clashes and the killing and capture of multiple HTS members. HTS responded by having the army invade Lebanon’s town of Hermel.

 

Syrian officials are trying to brand this crackdown and the mining of the border as something to do with the war on drugs, accusing Hezbollah of being behind the drug trade between Lebanon and Syria. The clans involved in the recent clashes have indeed been accused of being involved in the Captagon trade as well.

 

But in the grand scheme of things, the HTS crackdowns around the Lebanon border have mostly been sectarian moves against Shi’ites in general and Alawites in particularly. The HTS was branding these measures as being about Assad remnant forces before, and has only started rebranding them as a drug war now that they’re going after Lebanese Shi’ites who were plainly not affiliated with the Assad government in any way.

Scientists have detected the highest-energy "ghost particle" ever seen.

The particle, a type of neutrino, arrived at Earth at nearly the speed of light and with 30 times the energy of the previous most energetic neutrino ever glimpsed.

This is the first solid evidence that neutrinos with such high energies can be produced in the universe.

 

This particle's high-energy nature indicates that the neutrino originates from outside the Milky Way, and though the ghost particle's source is yet to be determined, the team has 12 suspects in mind.

The suspects are all "blazars," or the energetic cores of "active galactic nuclei" (AGN) that are powered by feeding supermassive black holes.

Blazars are types of quasars that stand out because the beams of high-energy particles and light they blast out are pointed directly at Earth.

 

Another possibility, however, is that the high-energy neutrino was created when an ultramassive cosmic ray particle slammed into particles of light, or "photons," left in the universe after some event that occurred just after the Big Bang.

The neutrino was spotted via the detection of a single muon by the Kilometer Cubic Neutrino Telescope (KM3NeT), located 11,300 feet (3,450 meters) beneath the waves of the Mediterranean Sea, on Feb. 13, 2023.

During the event, designated KM3-230213A, the muon crossed the entire KM3NeT detector and lit up one-third of the deep sea instrument's thousands of active sensors.

 

"This neutrino is very likely of cosmic origin, and its energy is such that it's in a completely unexplored region of energy," Paschal Coyle of the French National Centre for Scientific Research said in a press conference held on Tuesday (Feb. 11).

"History shows us that whenever you do open a new 'energy window,' you never really know what you're going to find. It's completely unexplored.

"It's finding unexpected things which drive many of us," Coyle added.

 

Catching high energy cosmic ghosts

Neutrinos are often nicknamed "ghost particles" because they lack a charge and have a pretty non-existent mass. In fact, about 100 trillion neutrinos can pass through your body every second without you noticing a thing.

Thus, though neutrinos represent the second most abundant particle in the universe after particles of light, photons, they are notoriously difficult to detect and require detectors to go deep underground, or, in this case, deep under the sea.

 

"Neutrinos are one of the most mysterious of elementary particles," Rosa Coniglione, KM3NeT team member from the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare in Italy, said during the press conference.

"They have no electric charge, almost no mass, and interact only weakly with matter. They are special cosmic messengers, bringing us unique information on the mechanisms involved in the most energetic phenomena and allowing us to explore the farthest reaches of the universe.”

 

Even though the KM3NeT detected a flash of light from an electron-like muon — not a neutrino — it was the qualities of this elementary particle that indicated it had been created when an unusually high-energy neutrino struck another particle.

"There are many muons going through the detector coming from above, produced in the Earth's atmosphere, and they are not interesting.

We detected roughly 110 million of them in 2023," the experiment's physics coordinator at the time of the detection, Aart Heijboer of Nikhef National Institute for Subatomic Physics in the Netherlands, said at the press conference.

 

"It turns out that this particle was [oriented] horizontally. To produce a horizontal muon, there must have been a neutrino because these are the only particles that can traverse the required amount of material, 87 miles [140 kilometers] of rock and water to produce this horizontal particle in the detector."

The team was able to determine the energy of the neutrino from the amount of light registered by the detector.

They found that energy was 220 million billion electron volts, which Heijboer explained is 30,000 times the energy that Earth's largest particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), is capable of achieving.

 

For context, Coyle explained that to accelerate a particle to such energies, the LHC would have to be expanded from its current length of 17 miles (27 kilometers) to around 25,000 miles (40,000 kilometers). That's the circumference of the Earth.

"It would require having a global LHC accelerator all around the world to reach such an energy," Coyle said. So, what kind of natural cosmic particle accelerator could have launched a neutrino with such energy?

Though the researchers don't yet have a conclusive answer, they suspect that the solution lies at the hearts of AGNs.

California Governor Gavin Newsom appeared on CNN on February 6 and was asked if his previous timeline to rebuild in six to nine months would be followed, he essentially said that due to “climate reality” rebuilding would have to be delayed and changed. He said that it would take six to nine months to remove debris! He said, “In the next few years, we want to see hundreds, thousands of homes, rebuilt,” however, 16,000 buildings were destroyed, so it appears that his plan for rebuilding does not include allowing many homeowners to restore their property.

He blamed climate change and called for changing zoning and land use. California has some of the most restrictive land use and zoning regulations in the nation, which he says should be a model for the rest of the country.

Supermassive black holes as cosmic particle accelerators

The high-energy universe is flooded with a variety of violent and powerful events, from the explosive supernova deaths of massive stars to gamma-ray bursts, which are brief explosions of high-energy light.

Though they often last for fractions of a second, gamma-ray bursts can pump out more energy than the sun will radiate in its entire lifetime.

 

All of these events could act as particle accelerators, but the prime suspects in this case are supermassive black holes with masses millions or billions of times that of the sun.

When these supermassive black holes are surrounded by vast amounts of matter in AGNs, they are known as "quasars," powering vast jets of matter that can stretch for hundreds of light-years. When these jets point right at us, the quasar is referred to as a "blazar."

 

The jets emitted in blazar flare events are composed of high-energy particles  known as cosmic rays   that can extend well beyond the limits of the galaxies housing the black hole that created them.

These jets also consist of electromagnetic radiation ranging from low-energy radio waves to extreme high-energy gamma rays. When such particles strike others in the galaxy of origin, they send showers of high-energy neutrinos raining through the cosmos.

 

Coniglione explained during the press conference that, by measuring the direction of the particle, the researchers were able to trace it back to the border of the Milky Way.

With no sources to explain the high-energy ghost particle traceable in our galaxy, the team found 12 interesting sources: all blazars beyond the boundaries of the Milky Way.

One of those 12 could be the origin point of this newly discovered particle. There is another suspect, however.

 

The researchers think this high-energy neutrino could have been generated when an ultra-high energy cosmic ray, most likely a proton, struck a photon in the cosmic microwave background (CMB).

This cosmic fossil represents the first light capable of freely traveling through the cosmos after electrons bonded with protons, allowing photons to travel freely without being endlessly scattered.

An interaction between a cosmic ray and the CMB would have created a shower of high-energy neutrinos. If that is the case, this would be the first detection of a so-called "cosmogenic neutrino."

Scientists are sure such neutrinos must exist, even though they have remained frustratingly elusive.

 

The potential detection of a cosmogenic neutrino is exciting because these high-energy particles could open up a new form of astronomy.

This would bolster the unification of "traditional astronomy" that taps into electromagnetic radiation and gravitational wave astronomy that focuses on tiny ripples in the fabric of spacetime.

The third arm of these innovative ways of investigating the cosmos is referred to as multi-messenger astronomy, and neutrino-based versions of this would expand it into new high-energy domains.

 

At the moment, with one single detection, the team can't distinguish whether this high-energy neutrino came from a cosmic particle accelerator like a blazar or if it originated in a cosmic ray/CMB collision.

However, the fact that KM3NeT made this first-of-its-kind historic detection while still under construction should offer some confidence that this cosmic mystery could soon be solved.

"In the next year, KM3NeT will deliver more and more data with improved angular resolution," Coniglione said. "In the near future, we will have a more refined pointing of this event and probably a more firm conclusion on the origin of this event."

Vice President Vance told Europeans on Tuesday their “massive” regulations on artificial intelligence could strangle the technology, and rejected content moderation as “authoritarian censorship.”

 

In another sign of divergence on AI governance, the US and Britain did not sign up to the final statement of a French-hosted AI summit that said AI should be inclusive, open, ethical and safe.

 

The mood on AI has shifted as the technology takes root, from one of concerns around safety to geopolitical competition, as countries jockey to nurture the next big AI giant.

 

Setting out the Trump administration’s America First agenda, Vance said the US intended to remain the dominant force in AI and strongly opposed the European Union’s far tougher regulatory approach.

 

“We believe that excessive regulation of the AI sector could kill a transformative industry,” Vance told the summit of CEOs and heads of state in Paris.

 

“We feel very strongly that AI must remain free from ideological bias and that American AI will not be co-opted into a tool for authoritarian censorship.”

 

Vance criticized the “massive regulations” created by the EU’s Digital Services Act, as well as Europe’s online privacy rules, which he said meant endless legal compliance costs for smaller firms.

 

“Of course, we want to ensure the internet is a safe place, but it is one thing to prevent a predator from preying on a child on the internet, and it is something quite different to prevent a grown man or woman from accessing an opinion that the government thinks is misinformation,” he said.

 

European lawmakers last year approved the bloc’s AI Act, the world’s first comprehensive set of rules governing the technology.

 

Vance is leading the American delegation at the Paris summit.

 

He left just after his speech, without listening to European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, who spoke right after him, or French President Emmanuel Macron, who gave the closing speech.

 

He later met separately with each, for talks.

 

China Warning

In his speech, Vance also appeared to take aim at China at a delicate moment for the U.S. technology sector.

 

Last month, Chinese startup DeepSeek freely distributed a powerful AI reasoning model that some said challenged U.S. technology leadership. It sent shares of American chip designer Nvidia down 17%.

 

“From CCTV to 5G equipment, we’re all familiar with cheap tech in the marketplace that’s been heavily subsidized and exported by authoritarian regimes,” Vance said.

 

But “partnering with them means chaining your nation to an authoritarian master that seeks to infiltrate, dig in and seize your information infrastructure,” he added.

 

Vance did not mention DeepSeek by name.

 

There has been no evidence that information could surreptitiously flow through the startup’s technology to China’s government, and the underlying code is freely available to use and view.

 

However, some government organizations have reportedly banned DeepSeek’s use.

Scientist image 3-million-light-year-long 'cosmic web' ensnaring 2 galaxies for 1st time

Astronomers have imaged a spectacular thread in the cosmic web, connecting two actively forming galaxies that existed when the universe was just 2 billion years old. Both galaxies at hand are home feeding supermassive black holes.

The cosmic web stretches for an incredible 3 million light-years, making it about 30 times longer than the Milky Way. It is the vast scaffold upon which the structure of the visible universe is formed.

Gas had flowed along its filaments, providing galaxies with the raw material needed for star formation and, thus, for their growth.

 

That makes the study of the cosmic web crucial for our understanding of cosmic evolution.

"By capturing the faint light emitted by this filament, which traveled for just under 12 billion years to reach Earth, we were able to precisely characterize its shape," Davide Tornotti, team leader and a researcher at the University of Milano-Bicocca, said in a statement.

"For the first time, we could trace the boundary between the gas residing in galaxies and the material contained within the cosmic web through direct measurements."

 

How to see an invisible cosmic web

Studying the cosmic web is no mean feat; this difficulty arises because these web lines are composed of dark matter, the universe's most mysterious "stuff," which does not interact with light and is, therefore, effectively invisible.

The gas that flows down these lines, like traffic along a cosmic highway, does interact with light, but it is still tricky to image.

That's because even hydrogen, by far the universe's most abundant element, emits only a faint glow that our astronomical instruments have struggled to observe between stars and galaxies.

 

When the gas that exists between stars is detected, this is done indirectly via the light it absorbs from bright background sources.

The team behind the new observation overcame these difficulties using MUSE (Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer), a second-generation instrument Very Large Telescope (VLT) at the European Southern Observatory in Chile.

 

Even with the aid of this sophisticated instrument, however, observing this strand of the cosmic web required hundreds of hours of observing time during one of the most ambitious MUSE campaigns ever conducted in a single region of the sky.

The team then turned to supercomputer simulations of the universe run at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA) to calculate emissions that should be seen from filamentary gas based on the standard model of cosmology, the Lambda Cold Dark Matter (LCDM) model.

 

“When comparing to the novel high-definition image of the cosmic web, we find substantial agreement between current theory and observations," Tornotti said.

The cosmic web observation and its conformity to the predictions of the standard model of cosmology are encouraging, but it is very clear what the team feels they need to do next: find more cosmic web lines.

 

"We are thrilled by this direct, high-definition observation of a cosmic filament. But as people say in Bavaria: 'Eine ist keine' – one doesn't count," team member Fabrizio Arrigoni Battaia, a staff scientist at Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA), said in the statement.

"So we are gathering further data to uncover more such structures, with the ultimate goal to have a comprehensive vision of how gas is distributed and flows in the cosmic web."

‘No Exceptions’: Pentagon Schools Defy Hegseth by Renaming DEI Efforts

 

In preparation for Donald Trump’s second presidency, the Pentagon’s school system attempted to conceal its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts under a different name.

 

The Department of Defense Education Activity agency renamed social-emotional learning as “resilience,” according to a Jan. 6 meeting recording obtained by The Daily Signal.

 

During his first two weeks in office, Trump issued executive orders prohibiting radical gender ideology, critical race theory, and diversity, equity, and inclusion instruction from federally funded American education.

 

That includes schools on military bases run by the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity, which operates 161 schools across 11 foreign countries and in seven U.S. states and two territories, and serves more than 67,000 military-connected students.

 

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth made it clear that he would enforce the president’s ban on DEI at the Department of Defense.

 

“The Pentagon will comply, immediately,” Hegseth said. “No exceptions, name-changes, or delays.”

 

Yet at the Jan. 6 winter planning meeting, Will Griffin, director of communications for the Department of Defense Education Activity, said that with “some of the transitions that we’re looking at” over the next year, “one of our challenges is going to be being able to continue doing what we do best, and that’s to provide a world-class education to military-connected students.”

 

“Unfortunately, sometimes words have the potential to get in the way of that, which is why we’ve made some adjustments or some transitions in some of the language that’s part of our lexicon,” he continued. “Building student resilience, you probably saw the new logo for [Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports], resilience is the name of the game in terms of how we can talk about what we used to say [social-emotional learning] for.”

 

While claiming to equip children with the ability to manage emotions, feel empathy for others, and maintain positive relationships, social-emotional learning integrates critical race theory throughout the education system.

 

“It’s important to talk about resilience, that we talk about [Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports] as a whole, and unfortunately, we have to do it,” he said, “but we kind of keep the words out of the way so our world-class educators can continue providing that world-class education.”

 

According to Education Week, the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports framework “offers students who have learning, social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties in general classrooms personalized instruction or support that matches the level of help they need to stay on pace with their peers.”

 

The framework is prone to failure in schools, often due to the program’s added demands upon teaching staff, parental rights advocate Kelly Schenkoske told The Daily Signal.

 

“MTSS requires additional staff training, assessments, meetings, and data collection, which take time away from quality classroom instruction,” she said. “What’s more concerning is that the MTSS framework often pairs with social-emotional learning and school mental health referrals, which serve as a Trojan horse for gender ideology and culturally responsive teaching agendas.”

SpaceX rocket launch spawns dazzling 'space jellyfish' in evening sky

When SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from California on Monday evening (Feb. 10), it was just another flight for the company to boost its growing Starlink internet satellite constellation.

For spectators on the ground, however, it was night sky art.

The Falcon 9 rocket, which lifted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base, took flight during evening twilight, when light from the recently set sun reflects off the exhaust plume of the rocket to create a spectacular effect that has been dubbed a "space jellyfish" by some observers.

 

"Absolutely stunning!" wrote one photographer, who goes by FirePhotoGirl on the social media site X, of the sight while sharing a photo and video of the launch.

The view show the bright rocket plume over an illuminated pool.

The Falcon 9 rocket launched 23 Starlink satellites into orbit from Vandenberg's Space Launch Complex 4 East pad, with its first stage returning to Earth for a landing on the drone ship Of Course I Still Love You.

It was the 18th Falcon 9 launch of 2025 for SpaceX.

 

Skywatcher Dima Zeniuk shared a video on X of the Starlink launch as it appeared to arc over Los Angeles, then created a stunning timelapse that showed the dramatic moments of stage separation between the Falcon 9's first stage booster from its upper stage.

"Stunning timelapse of a SpaceX launch over downtown Los Angeles," Zeniuk wrote in a post with the video.

 

SpaceX's rocket "jellyfish" even managed to photobomb one of the company's future passengers, a private space station module called Haven-1 built by Vast, as it was undergoing testing in California's Mojave Desert.

"Haven-1 primary structure qualification article at Vast’s Mojave test site, with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 lighting up the evening sky—Haven-1’s future ride," Vast representatives wrote in a social media post accompanying the photo.

 

Vast's Haven-1 module is a prototype for a commercial space station the company hopes to build in low Earth orbit. The company has tapped SpaceX to launch the module into orbit by May 2026.

For its part, SpaceX released a trio of photographs of the Starlink launch, including one view of the "jellyfish" effect, an image of the rocket ascending toward space and a long-exposure view that showed the launch as a brilliant arc of light across the cloudy sky.

 

SpaceX is off to a fast clip with its rocket launch pace. Monday's rocket launch was the first of two back-to-back Starlink missions on Falcon 9 boosters.

The second flight, which launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, delivered 21 Starlink satellites to orbit on Tuesday (Feb. 11).

SpaceX currently has about 6.990 operational Starlink satellites in orbit today, according to Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist and satellite tracker who regularly monitors Starlink launches.

He’s living about 1.6 miles away from the high school.

 

In addition to the 4-year prison sentence that Crawford gave Kevin D. Welton in January 2020, she rejected a prosecutor’s repeated request to raise his $500 SIGNATURE BOND even after he was convicted of two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child and a third count of attempted first-degree sexual assault of one of the same children, court records show.

 

Furthermore, the sentence was less than the victims’ families and prosecution asked for, and she diminished the seriousness of the crime during sentencing.

 

Welton was convicted of molesting the girls, ages 6 and 7, at a Middleton swimming pool where one of the girls was getting swimming lessons. The assaults happened eight years apart but had a very similar M.O.

 

Court notes show that, right after the jury convicted Welton, the prosecutor moved for bail to “be revoked…Court does not modify bond at this time, bond is continued.” That’s even though his sentencing was more than three months away. In December, the prosecutor tried again to get his bail remanded; Susan Crawford only modified the conditions of release. Again, she left his signature bond at $500.

 

Again, this was AFTER he had been convicted, and it was against the express and repeated request of prosecutors.

Luxury hotels lose millions of the federal government that has already been paid to accommodate illegal migrants in New York City.

 

The Department of Homeland Security has the authority to withdraw the $ 59 million in funds that were distributed to the hotels last week by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

 

These four and five star hotels were paid by the government to house illegal immigrants against the recent executive orders of President Donald Trump.

 

But those funds are sent back to FEMA after a Clawback order has been issued this week, a DHS officer told DailyMail.com.

 

It comes after DHS secretary Kristi calls four top financing officers on FEMA this week for approving the payment, including FEMAs CFO Mary Comans.

 

“Secretary Name has reclaimed the full payment that FEMA Deep State assistants have unilaterally given NYC Migrant Hotels,” said DHS assistant -Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

 

She added: “Not a single cent will be spent that is contrary to the interest and safety of the American people.”

King Abdullah Of Jordan Comes Out Against Removing Palestinians From Gaza

 

King Abdullah II of Jordan released a statement after meeting with President Donald Trump on Tuesday saying that he opposes “the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.”

 

The message, released in Arabic after the meeting, came after Abdullah offered to take 2,000 sick children from Gaza into his country for immediate medical care.

 

“I reaffirmed Jordan’s firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank (Judea and Samaria),” Abdullah said in his statement.

 

“This is the unified Arab position,” he said. “Everyone’s priority should be the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing its people and addressing the difficult humanitarian situation in the Strip.”

 

Abdullah said that a “just peace” had to be based on “a two-state solution” and nothing else, warning that it was the “only way to achieve stability in the region, and this requires the leading role of the United States.”

US engineers 3D-print tiny coin-sized engines to steer small satellites in space

Shoe box-sized CubeSats are becoming increasingly important in space exploration and collecting scientific data. But these tiny satellites need efficient and precise propulsion systems for in-orbit maneuvers.

One promising solution is electrospray engines, which use electric fields for propulsion.

 

The standard electrospray engines are effective, but their complicated and costly manufacturing restricts their use. MIT has developed a new, innovative approach to address this limitation.

For the first time, engineers have created a fully 3D-printed electrospray engine that emits droplets. Notably, the production of this innovative device is quick and much cheaper than traditional thrusters.

This 3D printing technology could allow astronauts to manufacture satellite engines in space, eliminating the need for Earth-based launches.

 

Advanced 3D printing techniques

Electrospray engines use electric fields to create high-speed jets of charged droplets to propel spacecraft. These small engines are well-suited for CubeSats used in research.

Moreover, these engines are more fuel-efficient than chemical rockets, making them ideal for orbital adjustments.

 

In this new work, the research team combined two different 3D printing methods: two-photon printing for the intricate emitter modules, and digital light processing for the larger manifold block.

This helped in creating a complex device with both large and tiny, interconnected parts.

 

A prototype 3D-printed thruster with 32 electrospray emitters was built and tested. This demonstrated stable propellant flow and generated equal or greater thrust than current droplet-emitting electrospray engines.

The emitter array consists of eight modules, each containing four individual emitters. These 32 emitters must operate in a coordinated fashion as a single, interconnected system.

 

Higher thrust efficiency

The emitter modules were made using two-photon printing, which uses a focused laser to solidify resin. This precise method allowed for the creation of sharp emitter tips and narrow, consistent channels for propellant.

The emitter modules are housed within a manifold block, which both secures them and provides propellant.

 

Instead of using two-photon printing for the manifold block (due to size and throughput limitations), the researchers employed digital light processing. This method solidifies resin layer by layer using a projector.

“Each technology works very well at a certain scale. Combining them, so they work together to produce one device, lets us take the best of each method,” said Luis Fernando Velásquez-García, a principal research scientist at MIT.

 

Researchers tested the 3D printing materials to ensure they wouldn’t react with the conductive liquid propellant. Compatibility is crucial to prevent corrosion or cracking.

In testing, the 3D-printed prototype achieved higher thrust efficiency than larger, more expensive chemical rockets. Moreover, it surpassed the performance of current droplet electrospray engines.

 

Interestingly, adjusting the voltage allowed for greater thrust control. This voltage modulation could simplify the engine design, resulting in a lighter, and more efficient thruster.

“We were able to show that a simpler thruster can achieve better results,” Velásquez-García stated in the press release.

There's a new safe haven for those who identify as transgender in the Bay State, after Worcester officially became a sanctuary city for that community during a lengthy city council meeting on Tuesday night.

 

This meeting lasted about five hours and there were about 200 people who showed up to voice their support.

 

It was standing room only inside council chambers – as dozens of residents spoke before the city council in favor of making Worcester a sanctuary city for those who identify as transgender or of other diverse genders.

 

This campaign comes on the heels of the first openly nonbinary member elected to the council Worcester City Councilor-at-Large Thu Nguyen taking a hiatus from the council, after they say the environment was transphobic.

After a debate Tuesday, the Worcester City Council voted in favor of a resolution to protect transgender and gender-diverse people.

 

Local organization Queer Residents of Worcester and Our Allies filed the petition asking councilors to make Worcester a sanctuary city for transgender and gender diverse people.

 

The petition specifically asks the city to not cooperate with federal and state policies aimed at harming transgender and gender diverse people, and to ensure that the LGBTQ+ community here has access to healthcare, housing, education, and employment without fear of discrimination.

 

“You have an incredible opportunity as a community to support our children, you have an opportunity to decrease the rates of depression and suicide by showing our children that their safety and dignity are a priority," one meeting attendee said.

 

“It is your responsibility to stand up and fight for our people, for your people, for the people," another added.

 

The city council approved it by a vote of 9-2.

Israel establishes nine 'permanent' occupation bases in south Syria

 

Three Israeli army brigades currently occupy Syrian territory without resistance from the new government in Damascus

 

Israeli occupation forces have discreetly established a security zone within Syrian territory, with nine sites already under advanced construction within the occupied buffer zone, beyond it, and on Mount Hermon, Israeli Army Radio reported on 10 February.

 

The army has established nine bases extending from Mount Hermon and through Quneitra until Deraa governate, which “appeared to be permanent.”

 

There is currently no set timeline for how long Israel will maintain control over this security zone, but the army has confirmed that it will remain until it is certain that there are “no threats to Israel.”

 

The army has also established “security cooperation with Jordan for mutual issues including against factions in south Syria and possible Hamas cells.”

 

Three army brigades currently operate on Syrian territory, an increase from the one-and-a-half battalions stationed in the occupied Golan Heights before 7 October 2023, the Army Radio added.

A major new study involving 9 million people has confirmed that Covid mRNA “booster” shots cause surges in deaths, hospitalizations, a diagnoses of deadly diseases.

They analyzed data from VHA’s comprehensive electronic health record system to compare outcomes between people who had received the booster and those who hadn’t.

Worcester City Councilor Thu Nguyen announced on Wednesday that they are taking a one-month hiatus from their position.

 

Nguyen, who is the first nonbinary elected official in Massachusetts, cited issues of transphobia and toxicity on the council over the three years they have been in office.

 

they spoke to GBH News earlier this month to reflect on their life and career — and how their identity helps them bring a unique perspective to politics.

 

“I think I’ve always been nonbinary, but there hasn’t always been the words for it,” they said. “I believe there’s beautiful spectrums and that there are so many things beyond what we know. And I continue to grow into my gender and sexuality every day. And I think that’s a very beautiful thing.”

 

they added that the “creativity” in the queer community has been “one of [their] guiding lights.”

 

Nguyen, who is 33, has lived mostly in Worcester since they were 18 months old, when their family came to the United States as refugees.

 

“I grew up in [the neighborhood] Main South, so I had friends from all kinds of countries — also refugees,” they said. “I think one of the harder parts of growing up in Worcester was leaving and understanding that in different places … there’s a kind of a monolith of what people expect others to be.”

 

Before becoming a city councilor, Nguyen attended Middlebury College and Clark University, and lived in both Boston and New Orleans, where they said they learned key lessons about community organizing and mutual aid.

 

“One of the first things I did when I was in college was I co-created this organization where we taught young people how to make social documentaries,” they said. “And [the work] kind of really trickled outwards because when we have young folks talking about being undocumented and having a social documentary on it, I think action is called for.”

 

Nguyen announced their candidacy for an at-large seat on Worcester’s city council in 2021, placing fourth in a field of 10 candidates. they took office in 2022, becoming not only the first nonbinary elected official in Massachusetts, but also Worcester’s first Southeast Asian council member.

 

“If anything, I think my role is to disrupt and dismantle and demystify this notion of being a councilor and what it looks like,” they said. “For Worcester, that was just an historical moment. And I always say, you know, you could be historically the first, but what you do with it is the important thing.”

 

Over the last three years, they said one of their proudest moments was seeing the community testify on the regulation of crisis pregnancy centers in Worcester.

 

“Even if the councilors don’t look at [the constituents] and will vote no, I think it’s beautiful to see [people] mobilize,” they said.

 

they added that going into a second Trump administration, they are hoping to continue to see people supporting each other with shared resources.

 

“I see so many lawyers going out there to be like, all right, 'Let us help you figure out how to adopt your kids immediately.’ I know photographers who are like saying, 'Hey, if you want to get married to your partner now, this is a time before whatever could happen,'” they said. “And so I love this mutual aid notion where people are stepping up to really support each other in ways that our governments won’t.”

Drone causes flight diversions to Tenerife South Airport from Gran Canaria, Spain

The sighting of a drone near Gran Canaria Airport in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, led to the diversion of three flights to Tenerife South Airport.

According to sources from AENA, the drone was spotted at approximately 1:00am, flying close to the perimeter of the airport.

As a precautionary measure, the standard protocol was activated, which involves diverting flights to prevent any potential incidents that could affect air traffic safety.

 

As a result, three flights were rerouted to Tenerife South Airport. Once authorities confirmed that there was no further risk, all three aircraft took off again and were able to land safely at Gran Canaria Airport.

Sources from the Guardia Civil noted that identifying the operator of a drone is particularly challenging, as they can be controlled from virtually any location, including rooftops of residential buildings.

However, a search was conducted around the airport in an attempt to locate the person responsible.

'Israel killed a top Hezbollah figure who was wanted by the U.S. for his role in the 1983 bombings of the U.S. Embassy and a Marine Corps barracks that killed 300 people, the Israeli military confirmed Friday.

 

Hezbollah's operations commander, Ibrahim Aqil, was the subject of a $7 million State Department reward for information leading to his arrest.

 

The Israeli military said it had killed Aqil and as many as 10 other senior commanders of the movement's Radwan special forces unit. Nine people were reported dead and 59 were injured in the attack, Lebanese officials said.

 

"This elimination is intended to protect the citizens of Israel," an Israeli military spokesman said in a brief statement.

 

The State Department has identified Aqil, also known as Tahsin, as a member of Hezbollah's "highest military body," the Jihad Council.

 

In the 1980s, as different factions vied for control of Lebanon and a U.S. Marine detachment was deployed as a would-be peacekeeping force, Aqil was a top figure in Hezbollah's Islamic Jihad Organization. The organization took credit for the April 1983 bombings of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, which killed 63 people, and the Marine Corps barracks in October of that year, which killed 241 Americans.

 

Aqil also oversaw the abductions of American and German hostages in Lebanon, the State Department said last year. The department named Aqil a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" in 2019.

 

Aqil's killing came amid an extensive wave of air strikes against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon late Thursday and Friday, adding to fears of a serious escalation in months of simmering conflict along the border.

 

The strikes followed a pledge by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah to take revenge on Israel, who the group accuses of orchestrating an audacious two-day attack in Lebanon that saw Hezbollah pagers and handheld radios explode, killing more than 30 people and seriously injuring thousands. Israel has not commented on the incident.

 

Israel's Defense Forces said they struck more than 100 Hezbollah missile launchers as well as a munitions depot Thursday and Friday as well as targets in Beirut. Images published on social media and by Lebanon's state media showed plumes of smoke over neighborhoods in southern Beirut.

 

Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel on Friday that appeared to cause fires. No injuries were immediately reported.

 

Nasrallah said Thursday the pager and walkie-talkie attack crossed "all red lines" and it was a "declaration of war."

 

Lebanon's foreign minister, Abdallah Bou Habib, has warned that the "blatant assault on Lebanon’s sovereignty and security" was a dangerous precedent that could “signal a wider" coming war between Israel and Hezbollah.

 

Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran and an ally of Hamas, has been firing near-daily missiles into Israel's territory since Oct. 7 when Hamas attacked Israel and Israel responded by launching a war in Gaza. About 60,000 Israeli residents of northern Israel have since evacuated south amid Hezbollah's assaults.

 

Israel has pledged to make it safe for its residents to return to northern Israel. The IDF on Friday lifted temporary orders restricting movement and large gatherings issued for communities in northern Israel and the Golan Heights.

 

Israel's defense minister, Yoav Gallant, has said his nation is "at the start of a new phase of the war."

The Massachusetts Cultural Council has awarded 53 grants, totalling in $246,844, to help fund Worcester-based arts and cultural programs through the City’s Worcester Arts Council.

 

WAC, a public-private partnership between the City of Worcester and 12 cultural organizations, is part of the MCC’s Local Cultural Council Program network, the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the country, said a press release from the City of Worcester on Tuesday.

 

Out of the 118 applicants WAC received for its 2024 grants, five artist fellowships and 48 projects were selected to receive awards ranging from $2,420 to $5,000.

 

The Worcester-based artists who received funding were: Travis Duda, Jerry Kazarian, Ferlay Jean-Baptiste, Tina Gaffney, and Lynn Aurelie Thibault, all of whom received $5,000 each.

 

Grant winners came from a diverse composite of musical, advocacy, cultural awareness and nonprofit organizations.

 

Amongst those receiving $5,000 grants were:

 

- Crocodile River Music, a music program aiming to expand access to African arts through performance and education, to help fund its Worcester’s Got African Talent 3.0 project.

 

-LGBTQ+ advocacy nonprofit Love Your Labelsfor its Threads Fashion Design Program and Threads Pop Ups initiatives.

 

- The Chinese Family Network working to support and empower Chinese families and children received the funding to support its 2024 Spring Festival.

 

Applications were evaluated based on their public benefit, creative/artistic merit, capacity, budget, impact, and innovation along with how well the applications reflected WAC’s funding priorities which were established based on community input.

 

“I am thrilled to witness the Worcester Arts Council’s unwavering dedication to facilitating opportunities for local artists and creative projects,” Worcester Cultural Development Officer Fabian Barracks said in the release. “Their commitment not only fulfills our city’s cultural plan but also ignites our office’s strategic functions.”

irestorm Labs, a company specializing in additively manufactured unmanned aerial systems (UAS), has been awarded a five-year, $100 million Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Air Force.

The agreement is structured to support the development and procurement of UAS solutions, with a focus on modular, cost-effective designs that integrate advanced autonomy.

 

This new contract allows the Air Force to issue multiple task and delivery orders over five years, with performance periods extending up to 24 months after the final order.

By leveraging additive manufacturing and rapid production methods, Firestorm Labs aims to address operational needs in contested environments where traditional supply chains may be disrupted.

 

The San Diego-based firm designs drones classified within Group 1-3, a U.S. Department of Defense categorization for small to medium-sized UAS with weights under 1,320 pounds.

These systems are used for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and tactical support.

 

Firestorm’s approach to drone development centers on scalability and rapid deployment.

Additive manufacturing techniques allow for the localized production of UAS components, reducing reliance on centralized factories and enabling on-demand fabrication closer to the point of use.

This capability is particularly relevant for military operations requiring adaptable logistics.

 

“Our vision is to enable the production of systems, parts, and prototyping at the edge, agnostic of vendor,” said Chad McCoy, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Firestorm Labs. “xCell is our response to the challenges of an uncertain supply chain, isolated geography, and contested logistics that demand innovation.”

Additive Manufacturing Expands UAS Capabilities

Cummings Aerospace, an Alabama-based aerospace and defense manufacturer, recently completed flight trials for a new 3D printed turbojet loitering munition named Hellhound S3.

This kamikaze-style drone weighs under 25 pounds with its launch canister and ground control system. Engineers designed it for single-soldier deployment and swift precision strikes against armored targets.

The company tested the munition at the Pendleton Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Range in Oregon, where it exceeded 350 miles per hour at half throttle and maintained stable operation in cold, windy, and snowy conditions.

 

Ursa Major, a Colorado-based propulsion company, recently completed successful flight tests of a new 3D printed solid rocket motor (SRM) developed in partnership with Virginia-based Raytheon Technologies.

The test, conducted at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, demonstrated the long-range missile capabilities of the 3D printed SRM, which was produced using Ursa Major’s Lynx additive manufacturing technology.

This production method allows for simultaneous fabrication of multiple SRMs on a single production line, reducing costs and accelerating development timelines.

Las Vegas Man Claims Alien Influence in Father’s Fatal Shooting

According to the arrest report, La alleged that “aliens had told him to kill his father and that he felt like he was on a different planet.”

 

The incident unfolded on February 5 when La’s mother made a frantic call to authorities, reporting her husband was unconscious and not breathing.

Responding officers discovered Eun Jin La in the master bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound to the back right side of his head. A 9mm firearm and casing were recovered at the scene.

 

La was apprehended nearby and, during police interviews, claimed he believed he was “saving someone, a ‘worker,’ from being tortured” and that this individual was “wearing the skin of his father’s face.”

These statements suggest a profound disconnection from reality, raising questions about his mental state at the time of the incident.

 

As La awaits his preliminary hearing scheduled for February 25, this case underscores the critical importance of addressing mental health issues proactively.

It also highlights the need for personal responsibility in seeking help before situations escalate to violence.

The $8CHAN launch, what led up to it, how it happened, and how it is going.

 

Circa 2017, I made a fork of bitcoin called susucoin, which had a custom component that allowed anybody to store data into the block chain. These days that type of functionality might be called an NFT. Susucoin took a lot of time to fork from bitcoin and I had to learn how the proof of stake crypto algorithms work at a deep level to even get it off the ground. After launching and mining a bunch of blocks with a community, I decided to try to put it on an exchange. Back then there were no de-centralized exchanges and you had to pay every exchange individually to list your coin. A few bitcoin worth of fees later and susucoin was on an exchange or two. Those exchanges quickly went out of business and susucoin was only really on the market for a very limited duration. I really believed in that project and never went to an exchange to sell even one mined coin or dev coin. These days, susucoin is still chugging along at a very low hashrate and I think back to how I should have sold a few to at least make back the listing fees for the initial exchanges.

 

Ive always been a tech/algorithm guy, and have had difficulty grasping finances and money. It might be some kind of mental block or maybe I am just not wired for it. I can easily design and implement really advanced algorithms, but financial things are very difficult for me. I understand the irony that being good at algorithms and tech should mean I am good at finances too, but in my case its just not true.

 

With Trump's new EOs and his draining of the swamp in real time, I wanted to bring back 8chan while addressing questions that people always ask me about. When my X account hit 420k followers, I thought I should create a memecoin to commemorate that. I knew that if I launched a memecoin, it should be based on 8chan and that I could use the coin launch as an opportunity to create a stronger free speech community.

 

I saw Trump had recently released a memecoin, so I looked up how he did it. His team built it on Solana, which I did not know much about at that point and had no technical experience with. I downloaded the code for it and switched to the testnet to make a few scripts that could create memecoins for essentially free. These coins were easy to make from a tech standpoint but would require a lot of capital to be put into a liquidity pool. I couldnt afford to put capital into a liquidity pool, so I reached out to some friends with experience in the crypto space to ask about options.

 

One guy told me I need to be very careful of snipers. Another guy told me that http://pump.fun solves the liquidity pool issue and that I could create a few http://pump.fun coins to see how the platform works. I created a few coins on http://pump.fun and saw it was easy to create a coin and with a bit of marketing it would be possible to even get past the bonding curve.

That still didnt solve the sniper issue, so I kept asking around and talking with different people to ask for information about how to stop snipers. Nobody knew how to stop the snipers until I started chatting with a guy whocalls himself JFK Jr.

 

I told JFK Jr. about my plan to make the $8chan coin. He told me that he had a friend who made a script that could beat the snipers during a coin launch. He said his friend could make sure nobody sniped the $8chan coin. I thought that sounded great so I asked him if he and his friend could make the coin on http://pump.fun and ensure no snipers got to it, and I would work on the marketing aspect. He said sure and that he would even do it for free. Free sounded great to me, so I put a countdown on the old 8chan domain, made a website for it and added the milestones that I had planned. I truly felt $8chan would immediately blow through all the market cap milestones I set.

 

I dont have a lot of money so in the days leading up to the launch, I borrowed about $1000 dollars worth of solana, and someone on X air dropped a memecoin to me that I traded for another $200 or so worth of solana.

With my $1200 dollars, a great marketing plan, and JFK Jr. in charge of making sure the coin wouldnt get sniped, I was ready to launch.

 

A few minutes before the website switched from the countdown to the $8chan meme coin website, I figured I should buy some of the coin myself before the rush. So I spent about $1000 of my $1200 buying the $8chan coin.

 

The launch was fun. I guess thats why they call it "http://pump.fun".

 

I saw my coins go from $1000 to $100,000 and thought about how to launch the new Project Odin and about how the $500 million marketcap milestone might play out. I picked $500 million because thats about where $VINECOIN is at, and I felt 8chan and Vine were about equal in nostalgia factor.

 

About an hour after the launch I decided to run an X space with my dad who is the current owner of 8chan and who would ultimately have to sign off on the transition (he did). I never really participate in X spaces, and it was the first one where I really talked much at all. I wanted to talk about the history of 8chan and the future of the $8chan coin, where I wanted to go with it, what the different milestones were and how they would be implemented.

About 20 minutes into the call, it started filling up with people asking financial questions that I really didnt understand. Some people were saying the coin was being insider traded. When they asked me about it, I knew that it was not true because I had bought all my $8chan coins and had not traded them back to Solana at all. How could there be insider trading if I was not even trading?

 

After leaving the X Space, I called JFK Jr. to ask him about what the hell was going on with these allegations of insider trading. He told me that snipers go to every new coin, buy up the coin to sell and that his friend's anti-sniper system was working as intended to prevent snipers. I am now working on bringing back 8chan as per milestone #1 and hope that milestone #2 and #3 are eventually reached so we can discuss and implement those as well.

 

I am very proud of how 8chan has helped fuel President Trump's political success over the years, and I sincerely hope it can continue to be a force for good.
