OPM says it can now process pensions digitally, as DOGE targets bizarre federal document mine.

 

For decades, OPM has stored and processed federal retirement paperwork in a limestone mine. The US government started storing records in the underground facility in the 1960s.

 

In a video update shared on Thursday by the OPM, Chuck Ezell, OPM's interim director, said that the Trump administration had approached OPM "about a week ago" with the one-week "challenge" to process a federal retiree's application "end-to-end digitally without printing anything on paper."

 

Kimya Lee, OPM's associate deputy director for enterprise enablement, said in the video that they "got it done in record time within two days without printing one piece of paper."

 

DOGE's de facto leader Elon Musk highlighted the issue in a press conference earlier this month. Musk criticized the reliance on paper records and said the speed of the mine's elevator shaft determined how fast people could retire.

Pope Francis suffered a bronchial spasm on Friday that required mechanical ventilation, the Vatican said in relaying a setback in his two-week long battle against double pneumonia. The 88-year-old pontiff responded well, with a good level of gas exchange, and remained conscious and alert at all times, the Vatican said in its late update.

EU membership for Ukraine ‘unthinkable’ – Orban

Kiev joining the bloc could trigger economic collapse and rising crime in Hungary, the prime minister has said

 

Admitting Ukraine into the EU would be an “unthinkable” act, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated, adding that accession to the bloc by Kiev could have severe economic and security consequences for Hungary.

 

Speaking in an interview with Kossuth Radio on Friday, Orban said that while he would not rule out Ukraine joining the bloc in principle, doing so under the current circumstances would be virtually impossible. “One thing I can say for sure: here and now, this is unthinkable,” he said.

 

He argued that Ukraine’s membership in the EU “would ruin us,” adding that “first, it would destroy Hungarian farmers and Hungarian agriculture. Second, it would subsequently ruin the entire Hungarian national economy.”

 

Beyond economic concerns, Orban claimed thatUkraine’s accession would lead to an influx of crime into Hungary. “I also don’t see clearly how we will curb the crime that would inevitably flood into Hungary along with it,” he said.

“I cannot think of a single argument that would justify Ukraine’s accession from Hungary’s perspective.”

 

Orban has been a consistent critic of Ukraine’s integration into Western institutions, although he argued in 2023 that the EU could sign a five- to ten-year strategic partnership agreement with Kiev to bring it closer to the bloc.

He has also pushed back against Ukraine’s NATO ambitions, warning that its accession could escalate tensions with Russia, and suggesting that the country should instead remain a “buffer” between Moscow and the West.

 

Ukraine applied for EU membership in February 2022, shortly after the escalation of the conflict with Russia. In June 2022, it was granted candidate status.

 

However, Ukraine faces significant hurdles before joining the bloc, as full membership requires the unanimous approval of all EU nations. In addition, theEU has demanded that Ukraine implement a comprehensive set of governance reforms, fight rampant corruption, and harmonize its legislation with EU law. (They have asked this for 17 years for the EU and NATO, and Ukraine has never made any progress.)

 

EU officials have never set a definitive timeline for Ukraine’s accession, although former European Council President Charles Michel suggested that Ukraine could join the bloc by 2030, provided it meets all the conditions.

The top federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C., demoted several senior leaders to entry-level positions on Friday as the shakeup of one of the Justice Department's most crucial offices continued, according to three sources and an email seen by Reuters.

 

Ed Martin, the interim U.S. Attorney in charge of the Justice Department's Washington office, told top leaders in the fraud, public corruption, and civil rights section that they will be assigned to handle relatively low-level cases.

 

"I must assign attorneys where I assess there is need and where I believe each can contribute," Martin wrote in an email seen by Reuters. "Therefore, I am assigning you to Misdemeanors effective immediately."

 

Martin added that the moves were "temporary," but did not elaborate. Those demoted include Kathryn Rakoczy, one of the lead prosecutors who secured convictions against several members of the Oath Keepers group for plotting to use force to help President Donald Trump remain in power after he lost the 2020 election, the sources said.

 

Also demoted was Elizabeth Aloi, who prosecuted former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro for defying a congressional subpoena.

 

Martin told them they will be reassigned to entry-level jobs, either by serving as line prosecutors or processing new cases and handling warrant requests, said the sources, who spoke anonymously because the personnel moves are not public.

 

"People can be fairly described as utterly shocked," one of the sources told Reuters, saying the people targeted were keeping the office afloat. The office, the source added, was in "chaos."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio terminated the US’s support for Ukraine’s power grid.

 

The State Department ended a USAID initiative that has given hundreds of millions of dollars to the restoration of Ukraine’s power grid.

 

Ukraine has been struggling with power outages because of Russia’s attacks on its power grid over the last few years.

 

USAID will also drastically reduce its presence in Ukraine, according to NBC News.

 

NBC News reported:

 

The State Department this week terminated a U.S. Agency for International Development initiative that has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help restore Ukraine’s energy grid from attacks by the Russian military, according to two USAID officials working on the agency’s Ukraine mission.

 

Power outages have been applied overnight in some regions of Ukraine due to the attacks on energy facilities. The country’s systems have sustained near-constant impact throughout the course of the three-year war.

 

“It significantly undercuts this administration’s abilities to negotiate on the ceasefire, and it’d signal to Russia that we don’t care about Ukraine or our past investments,” one USAID official involved in the Ukraine mission told NBC News.

 

The official continued: “Russia is fighting a two-pronged war in Ukraine: A military one but also an economic one. They’re trying to crush the economy, but USAID has played a central role in helping it be resilient, [including] shoring up the energy grid…We’ve provided vast amount of support to the Ukrainian government to avoid a macro economic crisis.”

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House on Friday to meet with President Trump to discuss his rare earth mineral rights proposal.

 

However, President Trump canceled the joint press conference with Zelensky on Friday afternoon following an explosive Oval Office meeting.

 

Trump and Vance absolutely lit Zelensky up as he folded his arms and tried to lecture the United States.

 

“You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards … You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people! You’re gambling with World War III!” Trump said.

EU’s Kallas blasts Trump over ‘Russian talking points’

The European Union’s”top diplomat”has suggested that US President Donald Trump has adopted Russian narratives about the Ukraine conflict. Kaja Kallas alsoexpressed concern over Washington’s supposed drift away from its long-time European allies.(With allies like these, who needs enemies)

 

Kallas, the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy and former Estonian Prime Minister (2021-2024), is known for her hawkish views on foreign policy.

 

In an interview with the media outlet Axios on Thursday, she said ithad been “uncomfortable” to hear Trump and other senior US officials “repeating Russian narratives and talking points” in recent weeks.

 

“The statements made towards us are quite strong. The statements regarding Russia are very friendly. It is a change,” Kallas observed. She claimed that if Russia is allowed “back around the international table like nothing has happened,” more armed conflicts will follow, and not only in Europe.

 

The diplomat also insisted that while US officials are free to “talk with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin all they want… in order for any kind of deal to be implemented, they need the Europeans.” Failure to include the EU and Ukraine in negotiations would prevent any agreement from being implemented, Kallas argued.

 

Both the bloc’s representatives and officials from Kiev were excluded from the US-Russia negotiations held in Saudi Arabia earlier this month. Washington and Moscow have argued that no other parties were invited because the talks centered on first restoring bilateral relations.

 

Kallas also balked at criticisms regarding the state of democracy in the EU voiced by US Vice President J.D. Vance at the Munich Security Conference – a speech praised as “brilliant” by Trump.“I refuse to accept that criticism, because it’s just simply not true,”she said. On Monday, the diplomat similarly remarked that “if [we] look at the messages that come from the US, then it is clear that the Russian narrative is there, very strongly represented.”

In recent weeks, Trump has made several critical remarks toward the Ukrainian leadership, characterizing Vladimir Zelensky as a “dictator without elections,” and suggesting that Kiev bears responsibility for letting the hostilities flare up in 2022. While the US head of state has since somewhat toned down his comments, a marked departure from the policy course pursued by his predecessor, Joe Biden, remains evident.

But my initial takeaway is, that Trump just got the optics he needed to go scorched earth on Zelensky.

 

Trump might not help Ukraine at all now, and Russia’s end of the deal probably just got sweeter.

 

Now Trump can be more lenient with Russia in negotiations, and Zelensky has solidified himself as an irrelevant speed bump on the journey to peace.

 

Zelensky just lost his most valuable asset, which was Trump’s diplomacy. Now Trump might not give Ukraine anything.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio terminated the US’s support for Ukraine’s power grid.

 

The State Department ended a USAID initiative that has given hundreds of millions of dollars to the restoration of Ukraine’s power grid.

 

Ukraine has been struggling with power outages because of Russia’s attacks on its power grid over the last few years.

 

USAID will also drastically reduce its presence in Ukraine, according to NBC News.

 

NBC News reported:

 

The State Department this week terminated a U.S. Agency for International Development initiative that has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help restore Ukraine’s energy grid from attacks by the Russian military, according to two USAID officials working on the agency’s Ukraine mission.

 

Power outages have been applied overnight in some regions of Ukraine due to the attacks on energy facilities. The country’s systems have sustained near-constant impact throughout the course of the three-year war.

 

“It significantly undercuts this administration’s abilities to negotiate on the ceasefire, and it’d signal to Russia that we don’t care about Ukraine or our past investments,” one USAID official involved in the Ukraine mission told NBC News.

 

The official continued: “Russia is fighting a two-pronged war in Ukraine: A military one but also an economic one. They’re trying to crush the economy, but USAID has played a central role in helping it be resilient, [including] shoring up the energy grid…We’ve provided vast amount of support to the Ukrainian government to avoid a macro economic crisis.”

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House on Friday to meet with President Trump to discuss his rare earth mineral rights proposal.

 

However, President Trump canceled the joint press conference with Zelensky on Friday afternoon following an explosive Oval Office meeting.

 

Trump and Vance absolutely lit Zelensky up as he folded his arms and tried to lecture the United States.

 

“You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards … You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people! You’re gambling with World War III!” Trump said.

Yesterday’s formal release of “Phase I” of the Epstein Files caused a stir among both Democrats and Republicans who had expected AG Pam Bondi to release an unredacted compendium, and pit the FBI against its own after the AG announced that the bureau’s Manhattan field office hadn’t given her the thousands of pages she had requested.

 

In what amounted to little more than a photo op, three grinning conservative influencers holding binders that read “Epstein Files: Phase I” stood on the White House steps for a group portrait. Their unfettered jubilance suggested they held the motherload in their hands, but that wasn’t the case. The documents within those binders had been heavily redacted, and the unredacted part—mostly flight logs—had been published, albeit informally, years ago.

 

Meanwhile, at the Justice Department, Bondi made a shocking announcement: She accused federal investigators of withholding thousands of documents related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and asked the FBI to release all the information by Friday morning without any omissions.

 

“Late yesterday, l learned from a source that the FBI Field Office in New York had thousands of pages of documents related to the investigation and indictment of Epstein. Despite my repeated requests, the FBI never disclosed the existence of the files,” Bondi wrote.

 

The bureau’s new director, Kash Patel, told Bondi he was surprised she hadn’t received the entire tranche of files and that they’d reach her desk promptly.

 

A longtime FBI source—who we called a “5th Columnist” during the peak of the Deep State War—told Real Raw News that Patel handpicked agents to travel to Manhattan to recover the files.

 

“Despite Trump winning and Patel getting confirmed, the FBI is still fractured,” the source said. “Thousands still serve the Deep State, and it’s safe to say Manhattan is a hub of Deep State villainy. I don’t know whose names we don’t already know of are in those files, but if, say, there’s documentation or photos showing the Obamas or illuminati like Beyonce and Jay-Z with underage kids, well, the Deep State won’t want that shared with anyone.”

 

He added that Patel’s team traveled by helicopter to New York, landing at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, from where they raced to the FBI offices on the 23rd story of 26 Federal Plaza.

 

They put the floor on lockdown and implemented “secondary protocol,” which meant disabling the elevators and stationing men at stairwells to prevent anyone from entering or leaving the 23rd floor.

 

When they confronted the division’s boss, James E. Dennehy, a friend of the now-incarcerated Christopher Wray, and demanded he immediately surrender all digital and hardcopy data pertaining to the Epstein files, he excoriated them for intruding on his work and insisted he had already turned over all the FBI’s material on Jeffrey Epstein.

 

A belligerent Dennehy said he had nothing left to give Bondi, for she had the 300 pages of dirt the feds had on the sex offender and his associates.

 

Per our source, Patel’s team was dissatisfied with Dennehy’s response and “detained” him while ransacking offices and accessing computer terminals. Following a three-hour search, the team left 26 Federal Plaza with several cardboard boxes, computers, and Dennehy—in handcuffs.

 

“I don’t know what the uncovered because that stuff went straight to Bondi and Patel, but it’s proof there’s still a lot of Deep State purging to be done,” our source said.

To further its commitment to maximum transparency, the National Archives today launched a new website landing page that provides easy access to the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection.

This webpage will host already-released documents and items within the Collection, and will be the future home of documents and items that will be released.

 

This webpage was created in response to Executive Order 14176, titled “Declassification of Records Concerning the Assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr,” which was issued by President Donald J. Trump on January 23, 2025.

 

The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Collection consists of more than six million pages of assassination-related records, photographs, motion pictures, sound recordings, and artifacts. The vast majority of this Collection has been declassified and is already available to the public either online or in-person at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland.

 

The National Archives began a concerted effort to digitize all released records in the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Collection in 2023. Those efforts are ongoing and have been prioritized since the issuance of Executive Order 14176. To date, the National Archives has digitized over 700,000 pages of records in the Collection.

 

Those records within this Collection that are already open but may not yet be digitized are available for the public to access at the National Archives facility in College Park, Maryland. Information on how to access these records in-person is given on the webpage; appointments are encouraged, but not necessary.

 

The National Archives is ready to receive and process any further declassification decisions made by President Trump or by other agencies of the United States Government.

 

All released records in the Collection will be made available online through the National Archives Catalog on an ongoing, rolling basis following each release determination.

Scientists have discovered how to unlock telepathic abilities they say are trapped inside the brains of every human.

Researchers in Canada uncovered that parts of the brain actually act as a 'psi inhibitor' - meaning it suppresses the natural psychic, telepathic, and clairvoyant abilities people have but don't know about.

When scientists turned off this 'filter' - by inducing reversible brain lesions in the frontal lobes of volunteers - it enhanced the patients' psi abilities, allowing them to influence objects with their minds. 'Psi' is a phenomenon that includes telepathy (mind-mind connections), clairvoyance (perception of future events or distant objects), precognition (knowing what will happen before it does), and psychokinesis (moving objects with your mind). The filter was turned off by a process called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), which uses a non-invasive device to send magnetic waves to specific brain regions.

In experiments, volunteers with these brain lesions developed the power to change the outcomes of a Random Event Generator (REG) with their minds - moving the arrow on a computer screen which was choosing 0s and 1s at random. Lead researcher Morris Freedman of Baycrest Health Sciences said these findings, 'are potentially transformative for the way we view interactions between the brain and seemingly random events.' The brain filter discovery may, 'significantly advance research in the area of psi, helping to bring this phenomenon into the realm of mainstream science,'Dr. Freedmanadded.

The idea that a small number of gifted people have supernatural abilities, and even psychic powers, has been around for centuries. Throughout history, there have been accounts of famous individuals who allegedly had the power to predict the future, including Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce. However, the 2024 study in the journal Cortex was based on a radical idea: that the human brain might actively block psychic abilities - meaning everyone might have access to them. Scientists noted that if these powers really existed, evolution should have favored them and made them dominant human traits.

Clearly that hasn't happened, even though many people claim to occasionally experience psychic phenomena - like knowing someone is about to call you before they do it. So, Freedman and a team in Toronto began examining the human brain to see if something is actively preventing these powers from coming to the surface. Researchers recruited 108 healthy people and split them into three groups, each one receiving rTMS on a different part of the brain. Typically, rTMS is performed to treat conditions like depression, but the scientists in this experiment used the procedure to disrupt brain activity.

One group received this treatment on the right medial middle frontal region and another received a placebo treatment which did not change their brains. Neither group saw any change in their psi abilities after rTMS therapy. However, the volunteers who received rTMS on their left medial middle frontal region saw these abilities increase noticeably. 'This study confirmed our hypothesis,' Freedman said in a statement from the Bial Foundation, which supported the research. 'Individuals with neurological or reversible rTMS induced frontal lesions may represent a useful group for detection and replication of this phenomenon.'

The left medial middle frontal region plays a critical role in higher brain functions. Scientists have found that this area of the frontal lobe contributes to executive functioning, which includes planning, making decisions, and working towards our goals. It also appears to help people focus their attention and suppress irrelevant or inappropriate impulses. Now, Freedman suggests the left medial middle frontal region may be suppressing much more than human urges. The world's fascination with unlocking their psychic gifts is certainly growing in recent year. In fact, a new podcast called 'The Telepathy Tapes' replaced 'The Joe Rogan Experience' as the number one most popular audio show on Spotify in January.

Co-hosted by journalist and filmmaker Ky Dickens and psychiatrist Dr. Diane Hennacy Powell, the show explores the 'profound abilities' of people with autism who can't speak. Those abilities, according to Dickens and Dr. Powell, include telepathy, access to infinite knowledge, and the power to visit heaven. On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan said he listens to the show, and believes 'some telepathy is real.' 'I'm only on episode two, but it's really fascinating man,' he added.
