Trump to Host Alaska LNG Talks With Japan, South Korea

 

 

This June, Alaska will be hosting a natural gas summit, with Trump administration officials attending along with representatives from South Korea and Japan. The meeting comes along with the proposal by President Trump to build a gas pipeline from the North Slope fields to a liquefaction plant in the Kenai Peninsula community of Nikiski. It's unclear whether the president will attend.

 

The summit is presently scheduled to begin on Jun 2nd.

 

Alaska will roll out the red carpet in June, as the Trump Administration’s National Energy Dominance Council is set to convene a high-level summit in Anchorage to advance the Alaska LNG project, the $44 billion initiative that would get Alaska’s liquefied natural gas from the state’s North Slope to global markets, according to a report from Reuters.

 

The summit will bring together leaders from Japan and South Korea, two of Asia’s largest LNG importers, to discuss potential investments and purchase agreements for the project.

 

This is interesting, but any energy deals are dependent in large part on a proposed pipeline to move the LNG from the North Slope to where it can be loaded for export.

 

The Alaska LNG project involves constructing an 800-mile pipeline to transport natural gas from Alaska’s North Slope to a proposed liquefaction and export facility in Nikiski. The project, which has been stalled for decades due to its high costs, the high cost of the expected natural gas, and logistical challenges, is a priority for the Trump Administration as part of its push to expand US energy exports, advance American energy dominance, and strengthen energy ties with non-Chinese Asian allies.

 

A precautionary notice is in order here; bear in mind what all has transpired with the Keystone pipeline, and its on-again, off-again cycle that it has gone through throughout several presidential administrations. Now, there is one key difference: the proposed Alaskan LNG pipeline doesn't cross any international borders, meaning no treaties or other agreements are required.

 

The summit, scheduled around June 2, comes around the timeframe of Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s fourth-annual Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference, June 3-5. At a pre-conference event on June 2, the US Department of Energy will give a presentation called, “Partnerships Driving Success in the Arctic.” It’s a half-day workshop with the National Laboratories, and Department of Energy staff.

 

The timing of this makes one wonder how many Trump administration officials will remain in the Great Land to attend Governor Dunleavy's event.

Unleashing Alaska's energy potential was a key part of President Trump's 2024 campaign agenda. And the potential is considerable. Alaska has approximately 3.2 billion barrels of recoverable petroleum and is the nation's fourth largest producer of natural gas, although much North Slope's natural gas is reinjected to pressurize wells to enhance oil extraction. An LNG pipeline would make more of that gas recoverable.

 

Governor Dunleavy recently went on an Asian tour to promote investment in an Alaskan LNG pipeline, and did reach a tentative agreement with Taiwan.

 

In March 2025, when Dunleavy traveled through Asia to promote the project, Taiwan’s state-owned CPC Corp signed a non-binding agreement to purchase LNG and invest in the project, which broadened its financial backing.

 

While it's still early on, I'm growing more optimistic about the future of Alaskan energy production.

Trump admin to create list of ‘sanctuary’ states, cities, target services for illegal immigrants

President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order to create a nationwide list of sanctuary jurisdictions in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security. The order will also target laws that give illegal immigrants favorable treatment it the US.

 

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the order on Monday, saying, “President Trump will sign an Executive Order on Law and Order, and another Executive Order on sanctuary cities.”

 

The order directs the US Department of Justice and DHS to identify all cities and states that do not cooperate with the federal government on laws concerning immigration in the US within a month and to categorize them as "sanctuary jurisdictions,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

 

Addressing the order later in the briefing, Leavitt said "the executive order the President will sign later this afternoon does direct the Attorney General and also Kristi Noem, our great Secretary of Homeland Security, to provide a list of sanctuary cities in which local officials are not complying with this federal order and are not complying with federal immigration laws. It's quite simple: obey the law, respect the law, and don't obstruct federal immigration officials and law enforcement officials when they are simply trying to remove public safety threats from our nation's communities. The American public [doesn't] want illegal alien criminals in their communities. They made that quite clear on November 5. And this administration is determined to enforce our nation's immigration laws."

 

In line with what Trump has said before, the list of locales, cities, and states could have federal funding pulled if they do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Additionally, the Trump White House will direct the DOJ to bring civil rights cases against the jurisdictions on the list that have laws favoring illegal immigrants over US citizens, the outlet reported. The order will also take aim at state laws that offer in-state tuition for illegal immigrants over US citizens from other states. There are at least 25 states that have adopted such practices.

 

The Trump administration has taken similar steps in recent weeks, but district court judges have been blocking the orders consistently. Last week, the White House moved to strip funding from 16 different jurisdictions for engaging in sanctuary practices, but it was blocked by US District Judge William H. Orrick.

 

"The Cities and Counties have demonstrated a likelihood of irreparable harm," Orrick said in the ruling. "The threat to withhold funding causes them irreparable injury in the form of budgetary uncertainty, deprivation of constitutional rights, and undermining trust between the Cities and Counties and the communities they serve."

 

As judges have moved to block the Trump administration on matters of illegal immigration, Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested after she allegedly aided an illegal immigrant evade ICE as he was in court for a pre-trial hearing on domestic violence.

 

Dugan has been charged with obstructing federal authorities as they attempted to carry out the arrest of the illegal immigrant in Wisconsin.

Google has given up on smart thermostats in Europe.

 

The advertising giant last Friday slipped its Euro-plans into a post that announced first-and-second-gen Nest smart thermostats will no longer receive software updates as of October 25, 2025.

 

The three models that will exit support are 2011’s first-gen Learning Thermostat, 2012’s second-gen Learning Thermostat, and 2014’s European version of the latter .

 

Google’s change means apps its Nest and Home apps won’t be able to remotely control the thermostats. Users will be able to use the thermostats the old fashioned way: By walking up to it and using their hands.

 

But even that may not be a great option because a Google support document states that once software and security updates stop flowing “you may experience an unpredictable decline in performance if you attempt to use it continuously.”

 

If you toss your thermostat, Google will send you a postage-paid shipping label that allows you to post it to a recycling outfit.

 

Google’s still working on new stuff for its current Nest thermostats, and promised “Later this year you also will be able to create and adjust schedules for these devices in the Google Home app for the first time.”

Google’s post also includes news that it will “no longer launch new Nest thermostats in Europe.”

 

“Heating systems in Europe are unique and have a variety of hardware and software requirements that make it challenging to build for the diverse set of homes,” Google’s post states.

 

The web colossus is therefore “enabling a wide range of established smart thermostat companies to build energy devices and experiences that cater to these markets.”

India launched naval drills, test-fired several long-range missile systems and suspended a key treaty that ensures India supplies Pakistan with water from the Indus River, a provision that is crucial for Pakistan's water supply and agricultural economy.

 

Pakistan in turn deployed its air force to close its airspace to Indian airlines and has mobilised its army with footage appearing to show artillery batteries and armoured vehicles on their way to the LoC in anticipation of a major conflict.

 

Both sides have exchanged small arms fire across the LoC for the past four days, according to government and military officials.

 

Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif today told Reuters in an interview at his office in Islamabad: 'We have reinforced our forces because (an incursion) is something which is imminent now. In that situation some strategic decisions have to be taken, so those decisions have been taken.'

 

He added that India's rhetoric was ramping up and that Pakistan's military had briefed the government on the possibility of an Indian attack, though he gave no details as to why he thought an incursion by India's forces was in the offing.

 

Asifs statement came after Pakistan's railway minister, Hanif Abbasi, dramatically declared at the weekend that his nation's nuclear arsenal of more than 130 missiles were 'not kept as models' and were reserved 'only for India'.

 

'These ballistic missiles, all of them are targeted at you,' he concluded in a chilling warning.

“Members of Congress should be fighting for the people they were elected to serve—not day trading at the expense of their constituents,” stated Senator Hawley. “Americans have seen politician after politician turn a profit using information not available to the general public. It’s time we ban all members of Congress from trading and holding stocks and restore Americans’ trust in our nation’s legislative body.”

 

The PELOSI Act would ban lawmakers and their spouses from holding, purchasing or selling individual stocks for the duration of the lawmaker’s time in office. Lawmakers would be allowed to invest in diversified mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, or U.S. Treasury bonds while in office.

 

If passed, current lawmakers would have 180 days to comply with the legislation. Likewise, newly elected members of Congress would be required to comply within 180 days of taking office.

 

Members who refuse to comply with the PELOSI Act must forfeit any stock profits to the U.S. Department of the Treasury and face monetary penalties imposed by the House and Senate ethics committees.

After years of writing about politics, I’m a pretty hardened character. I’m cynical, pessimistic, and, while I’m often disgusted, I’m seldom shocked or panicked. But what I read at the JoNova site was so terrible I’m reeling: “Price fixing kills the cocoa farm.” It turns out that, thanks to price controls in Ghana, one of the world’s primary chocolate-producing countries, chocolate farmers aren’t even bothering to plant new crops. Honestly, I feel quite ill.

 

I love chocolate at a level that comes close to (but I hope never crosses into) being idolatrous. It is one of the greatest pleasures in my life. Every day, I nibble at my Guittard Extra Dark Chocolate Chips, which, to my mind, are the best around: not too sweet, with a perfectly balanced fruity, vanilla undertone. Also, when the spirit moves me and the freezer isn’t too full, I make what is quite possibly the best chocolate ice cream around, using Droste Cocoa (worth every penny), along with hints of caramel and almond.

 

When I say I take chocolate seriously, I am not exaggerating. I consider it essential. So, when I read that socialist price-fixing policies in Ghana (as opposed to the leftists’ delusional bugaboo of anthropogenic climate change) are threatening the world’s cocoa supply…well, I’m getting ready to place a big chocolate order, that’s all I can say.

 

Jo Nova, one of Australia’s top real science writers (as opposed to the faux, leftist science writers), has the story:

 

There has been a wicked price spike in cocoa beans which the usual suspects are blaming on “climate change” as if your air conditioner was ruining cocoa crops in West Africa.

 

Instead African governments have fixed the price of cocoa for decades, forcing poor farmers to work for a pittance, and keeping the big profits for themselves.

 

Not surprisingly, even though there is a wild price spike, farmers in Ghana are leaving the industry, smuggling crops out (because they get a better price).

 

They didn’t plant new trees, they ran out of money for fertilizer, and didn’t try new varieties.

 

Their children don’t want to farm cocoa, and the yields are falling on old sickly plantations.

 

So, surprise, socialist government controls wrecked the industry and they are now scrambling to put the pieces back together.

 

Things are so desperate, the government of Ghana raised the price of cocoa by 58% last April and then raised the price of cocoa by another 45% last September, to try to reduce the smuggling.

 

(The government was losing too much money).

 

At one point last year it was estimated that a third of the national crop was lost to smugglers.

 

A few months after this, the farmers were hoarding their beans in expectation the government would have to give them another price rise. Just chaos for everyone.

 

Of course, that’s just the top note of an excellent essay that isn’t just about chocolate but, instead, uses the chocolate debacle as a springboard to discuss how socialism perverts markets, diminishing available supplies and impoverishing ordinary people. It’s worth your time to check it out.

On Monday, The Atlantic published a wide-reaching interview with Donald Trump, highlighting his return to the White House and his first weeks back in office.

 

Trump said he didn’t think of his path back to the Oval Office as a comeback, but told reporters with the outlet, "but you’re right, I guess. There could be some truth to that." He said it was not a matter of whether he thought he would be able to return to the office, but instead "whether or not I would want to come back."

 

"I thought that maybe I wouldn’t do it, but I thought if I did do it, I’d win. But I never considered it a comeback. A lot of people call it a comeback. Most people, I guess, call it the greatest political comeback in history. I think that’s an honor, but I don’t view it as a comeback. I just sort of view it as: I just keep trudging along. He said his time in office is a "much more powerful presidency than I had the first time, but I accomplished a tremendous amount the first time." In his first term, Trump was "was fighting for survival and I was fighting to run the country. This time I’m fighting to help the world and to help the country. Trump was asked about the prospect of a 2028 run for the presidency, and whether he has sought a "legal opinion about running a third time," to which Trump said he had not."

 

"That would be a big shattering, wouldn’t it," he said of running for a third term, noting that his supporters frequently shout "2028" wherever he goes, but he was not looking into it.

 

When asked whether he thought the various criminal prosecutions against him made him stronger, Trump said, "Shockingly, yes. Normally, it would knock you out. You wouldn’t even live for the next day. You know, you’d announce your resignation, and you’d go back and 'fight for your name,' like everybody says—you know, ‘fight for your name, go back to your family.' Yeah, it made me stronger, made me a lot stronger."

 

The Atlantic wrote in its piece on the interview, "While reporting on Trump over the past four years, we were repeatedly struck that, in failing to drive a stake directly through his heart, all of the would-be vampire slayers—Democrats, Never Trumpers, Republican-primary opponents, prosecutors, judges, media critics—only strengthened him."

 

Now back in the highest office in the US, Trump told the outlet about the differences between his two terms, "The first time, I had two things to do—run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys. And the second time, I run the country and the world."

 

Trump was also asked about Trump administration officials and their usage of Signal to communicate, which has been dubbed "Signalgate," Trump said, "I think we learned: Maybe don’t use Signal, okay? If you want to know the truth. I would frankly tell these people not to use Signal, although it’s been used by a lot of people. But, whatever it is, whoever has it, whoever owns it, I wouldn’t want to use it." He said that he does not use Signal himself.

 

Trump said Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was "safe" from firing, and that National Security Adviser Mike Waltz was "fine. I mean, he’s here. He just left this office. He’s fine. He was beat up also."

President Donald Trump signed a powerful memorandum last week ordering a full federal crackdown on illegal campaign donation practices — specifically targeting the embattled Democrat fundraising platform ActBlue and calling for “crooked” Adam Schiff to be thrown behind bars.

 

The directive comes amid mounting investigations led by Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI) and 19 state Attorneys General — including officials from Texas, Arkansas, Florida, and Missouri — exposing explosive evidence that ActBlue was complicit in laundering illegal donations, including potentially illicit foreign money, into Democrat campaigns across the country.

Investigations have revealed staggering levels of fraud: ActBlue allegedly detected at least 22 significant fraud campaigns, many with a foreign nexus.

 

A House investigation uncovered 237 donations made using foreign IP addresses and prepaid gift cards during a single 30-day window in 2024 alone.

 

As The Gateway Pundit first reported, a team led by Peter Bernegger, Chris Gleason, Draza Smith, and supported by James O’Keefe, uncovered “voter mule” operations — with individuals often listed as making hundreds or even thousands of small-dollar donations, sometimes totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, to Democrat campaigns through ActBlue.

 

The funds fueled the campaigns of radical leftist candidates like Mark Kelly, Raphael Warnock, and Tammy Baldwin, among many others.

 

In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump escalated the fight, writing:

The Trump administration is targeting shipping companies with sanctions for providing material support to the Houthis by shipping petroleum products to the terrorist group.

 

According to a press release from the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the action is taken under the direction of the White House to target Houthi leaders, revenue generation, financial facilitators, and suppliers of the terror group.

 

The shipping companies that are being targeted by the sanctions include Zaas Shipping & Trading Co., Bagsak Shipping Inc., and Great Success Shipping Co.

 

Zaas Shipping facilitated the delivery of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the Houthi-controlled port of Ras Isa using the San Marino-flagged "Tulip BZ" on April 10 this year, the press release noted. And the Tulip BZ vessel "has also been used to transport petroleum products on behalf of Iran."

 

Bagsak Shipping made similar moves in facilitating the delivery of gas oil to the Houthis using the Panama-flagged Maisan vessel. Additionally, the "Maisan has also been involved in the export of Russian crude oil and petroleum products from Russian ports since February 2023," the OFAC noted.

 

Great Success Shipping "facilitated the delivery of gas oil to the Houthi-controlled port of Ras Isa using the Panama-flagged White Whale," the OFAC noted.

 

“Today’s action underscores our commitment to disrupt the Houthis’ efforts to fund their dangerous and destabilizing attacks in the region,” said Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Michael Faulkender. “Treasury will continue to leverage our tools and authorities to target those who seek to enable the Houthis’ ability to exploit the people of Yemen and continue their campaign of violence.”

 

During the Biden administration, the Houthis frequently targeted shipping vessels traveling through the Red Sea, causing shipping prices on goods to increase due to the necessity of sending ships around the Horn of Africa instead of through the Suez Canal, a vital waterway linking the Red Sea to international trade. In 2019, Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health partnered with Beijing’s National Health Security Administration (NHSA) to launch an annual health financing course, training government staffers from across China. Harvard originally noted in a blog post that officials with the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) participated in the inaugural training, but that language was scrubbed following a Washington Free Beacon inquiry.

 

The Trump administration sanctioned the XPCC in 2020 "in connection with serious rights abuses against ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region," describing it as a "paramilitary organization … that is subordinate to the Chinese Communist Party." But Harvard continued to train its members, once in 2023 and again in 2024. On those occasions, the Ivy League university didn’t include their participation on its webpages.

 

China-focused research group Strategy Risks first uncovered the 2023 training in a recent report titled, "Beijing Exercises Strong Influence Over Multiple Areas of Harvard University." XPCC officials’ 2024 involvement, noted on the NHSA’s website, has not been previously reported.

 

The revelation comes as Harvard faces mounting challenges, with the Trump administration freezing more than $2 billion in federal funding over the university’s failure to combat campus anti-Semitism. Since the sanctions restrict U.S. entities from engaging with the XPCC, Hudson Institute senior fellow Michael Sobolik believes Harvard could face legal trouble, including hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.

 

"It’s one thing to partner with the XPCC before the U.S. government declared a genocide in Xinjiang. It’s another thing entirely to continue that cooperation afterwards," Sobolik told the Free Beacon. "Harvard officials should have known that training the XPCC risked complicity in Beijing’s atrocities against Uyghurs and other ethno-religious minorities. Either they didn’t, and it’s gross negligence—or they did, and it’s beyond the pale. Either way, Harvard may have a big legal problem."

 

China has long faced accusations that it subjected its Uyghur population to mass arbitrary detentions, forced sterilizations, involuntary organ harvesting, and unethical medical experiments.

 

The Chan School of Public Health’s dean for communications and strategic initiatives, Stephanie Simon, blamed China for XPCC’s inclusion in the trainings. And when asked about the language removed from the 2019 post, she said an "enormous quantity of old content was removed across every department, center, and research site" as part of a website redesign from "several months ago."

 

"Each year, the NHSA invites the local officials who administer health insurance and elder care programs in each administrative region of China. In Xinjiang, that often includes officials from the XPCC. The trainings, held in different cities each year, typically draw 50 or 60 local officials from across China, with just one or two from each administrative region attending. The instructors come from multiple countries and many academic institutions, not just Harvard," Simon said.

 

"[Harvard China Health Partnership's] goal with these trainings is straightforward: To build capacity for public officials across China to create effective insurance programs with sustainable financial models so that all people across China can get access to high-quality health care," she added. "Our research, education, and community engagement work in China is driven by individual faculty members who view it as essential to advancing the school’s mission of improving health and well-being for all."

 

Harvard has routinely faced scrutiny over its funding from Beijing and other Chinese entities. The university raked in nearly $70 million from China between 2019 and 2022, more than any other country during that time period, according to U.S. Department of Education data.

 

Connections between China and Harvard’s School of Public Health trace back to at least 2014 when the university accepted a $350 million gift from the Morningside Foundation, a group controlled by the Chan family. The university renamed the school after the late father of Gerald Chan, a Hong Kong real estate magnate, and Ronnie Chan, who has deep ties to Beijing and the CCP. Harvard, however, has maintained that the gift was "unsolicited, unrestricted, and unexpected."

Chris Wright: Absolutely. We are refilling the Reserve now and we will continue to refill the Reserve the whole time I'm in office. You know, that was just such an irreponsible action to drain that reserve so quickly for electoral reasons, and in fact it was drained so fast, it did some damage to the facilities. So right now we can only fill two of the four major salt caverns that we have. So, we're doing repair work on the other two, we're slowly filling the other two, and I'm trying to get some funds through Congress that will give us a longer strategic runway to fill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve at the fastest rate we can.

 

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is the world's largest stored supply of crude oil, with a capacity of 714 million barrels, and is intended to serve as a reserve stock (hence the name) in the event of a national emergency. The petroleum is stored in four massive salt caverns along the Gulf of America, and as Secretary Wright pointed out, two of these are not only drained but also damaged by the withdrawal.

 

The Biden administration used the SPR as a piggy bank; when polling looked bad on the issue of gas prices, the Biden administration would release a few million barrels from the SPR to effect a short-term decrease in energy prices.

One worthwhile innovation would be placing a legal padlock on the SPR in the event we ever have another Democrat president who is looking to prop up polling numbers by releasing a few million barrels.

 

While it's good that we are refilling the SPR, it's a reflection of just how bad the Biden administration was on energy policy. From canceling the Keystone pipeline on day one, to canceling drilling leases from Alaska to the Gulf of America, right down to draining half of the SPR to achieve a modest drop in gas prices, the length of which might be measured in hours. Now the Trump administration is in the unenviable position of playing catch-up.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:

 

Section 1. Purpose and Policy. Safe communities rely on the backbone and heroism of a tough and well-equipped police force. My Administration is steadfastly committed to empowering State and local law enforcement to firmly police dangerous criminal behavior and protect innocent citizens.

When local leaders demonize law enforcement and impose legal and political handcuffs that make aggressively enforcing the law impossible, crime thrives and innocent citizens and small business owners suffer. My Administration will therefore: establish best practices at the State and local level for cities to unleash high-impact local police forces; protect and defend law enforcement officers wrongly accused and abused by State or local officials; and surge resources to officers in need. My Administration will work to ensure that law enforcement officers across America focus on ending crime, not pursuing harmful, illegal race- and sex-based “equity” policies.

The result will be a law-abiding society in which tenacious law enforcement officers protect the innocent, violations of law are not tolerated, and American communities are safely enjoyed by all their citizens again.

The Attorney General shall take all appropriate action to create a mechanism to provide legal resources and indemnification to law enforcement officers who unjustly incur expenses and liabilities for actions taken during the performance of their official duties to enforce the law. This mechanism shall include the use of private-sector pro bono assistance for such law enforcement officers.

 

Sec. 3. Empowering State and Local Law Enforcement. (a) The Attorney General and other appropriate heads of executive departments and agencies (agencies) shall take all appropriate action to maximize the use of Federal resources to:

(i) provide new best practices to State and local law enforcement to aggressively police communities against all crimes;

(ii) expand access and improve the quality of training available to State and local law enforcement;

(iii) increase pay and benefits for law enforcement officers;

(iv) strengthen and expand legal protections for law enforcement officers;

(v) seek enhanced sentences for crimes against law enforcement officers;

(vi) promote investment in the security and capacity of prisons; and

(vii) increase the investment in and collection, distribution, and uniformity of crime data across jurisdictions.

(b) Within 60 days of the date of this order, the Attorney General shall review all ongoing Federal consent decrees, out-of-court agreements, and post-judgment orders to which a State or local law enforcement agency is a party and modify, rescind, or move to conclude such measures that unduly impede the performance of law enforcement functions.

 

Sec. 4. Using National Security Assets for Law and Order. (a) Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Attorney General and the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security and the heads of agencies as appropriate, shall increase the provision of excess military and national security assets in local jurisdictions to assist State and local law enforcement.

(b) Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Attorney General, shall determine how military and national security assets, training, non-lethal capabilities, and personnel can most effectively be utilized to prevent crime.

 

Sec. 5. Holding State and Local Officials Accountable. The Attorney General shall pursue all necessary legal remedies and enforcement measures to enforce the rights of Americans impacted by crime and shall prioritize prosecution of any applicable violations of Federal criminal law with respect to State and local jurisdictions whose officials:

(a) willfully and unlawfully direct the obstruction of criminal law, including by directly and unlawfully prohibiting law enforcement officers from carrying out duties necessary for public safety and law enforcement; or

(b) unlawfully engage in discrimination or civil-rights violations under the guise of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” initiatives that restrict law enforcement activity or endanger citizens.

 

Sec. 6. Use of Homeland Security Task Forces. The Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall utilize the Homeland Security Task Forces (HSTFs) formed in accordance with Executive Order 14159 of January 20, 2025 (Protecting the American People Against Invasion) to coordinate and advance the objectives of this order.

 

Sec. 7. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

 

i. the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

 

ii. the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

 

(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

(d) The Department of Justice shall provide funding for this order’s publication in the Federal Register.

The House Judiciary Committee is set to meet Wednesday to mark up its portion of a sweeping bill Republicans aim to pass to implement President Donald Trump’s agenda.

 

According to bill text, the legislation would also free up funding to shift all Federal Trade Commission antitrust cases and employees to the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, significantly weakening a major FTC regulatory power.

 

The proposal would establish a minimum $1,000 application fee for asylum seekers, marking the first time such a charge would be imposed in U.S. history. It would also create a $1,000 fee for parolees, a $3,500 fee for sponsors of unaccompanied children, and a $550 fee for work permits for various applicants, among other new charges.
