Steve Hobbs has made his choice.

 

His effort to conceal the truth about Washington State's dirty voter rolls is merely a delaying tactic, one that will ultimately end with the DOJ gaining access to the information in the end. When will the DOJ file their lawsuit? How long will it take for the Feds to have access to the voter rolls and expose the truth? How bad are the voter rolls that Hobbs would take this chance for merely a delay?

 

I called it "Hobbs" choice before because if he does follow the law, he is certain to be stabbed in the back by the Democrat Party political establishment as well. He has made his choice, now he owns the problems that are being covered up. Remember, government hates it when you start looking at how they operate, and they really don't want you to know how they squander your tax dollars. Government will never reform itself.

Hegseth summons hundreds of military leaders to Virginia

 

According to The Washington Post, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ordered hundreds of generals and admirals of the US Armed Forces to convene quickly. He did not provide a reason for the urgent meeting.

 

The meeting will take place at the Marine Corps base in Virginia next week. This has caused confusion and anxiety, especially after the Trump administration fired many senior leaders this year.

 

The directive was sent to virtually all top military commanders around the world. The directive was issued earlier this week amid the threat of a government shutdown. It comes just months after Hegseth's team at the Pentagon announced plans to consolidate the military's top brass.

A vast river of neutral hydrogen bridges two galaxies that are beginning to enter the monstrous Virgo Cluster, and this structure is helping astronomers better understand our Milky Way's relationship with the nearby Magellanic Clouds.

The two galaxies, named NGC 4532 and DDO 137, are in fact falling into the Virgo Cluster at 547 miles (880 kilometers) per second, and in doing so are plowing through a vast cloud of gas that surrounds the cluster.

For the galaxies, this is like wading through hot treacle that scours their leading edges, heating and tearing out hydrogen gas that then forms a 1.6-million-light-year-long tail.

This tail was previously identified by the Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico.

 

Now, astronomers targeting the two galaxies with the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) radio telescope have discovered a colossal bridge of gas crossing the 185,000 light-years between the two galaxies, as well as additional spurs and clouds of hydrogen around the pair and connecting to the huge tail.

According to astronomer Lister Staveley-Smith, who led the research from the University of Western Australia node of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research, the vast structures are the consequence of two phenomena.

 

"Our modeling showed that the tidal forces acting between these galaxies, alongside their proximity to the massive Virgo Cluster of galaxies, played a crucial role in the gas dynamics we observed," said Staveley-Smith in a statement.

The 1.6-million-light-year-long tail is the product of ram-pressure stripping as the pair of galaxies, which are 53 million light-years away from Earth, are drawn towards the Virgo Cluster.

 

"As the galaxies rotated around each other and moved toward the hot gas cloud surrounding the Virgo Cluster, which was 200 times hotter than the sun's surface, they experienced what is known as ram pressure, which stripped and heated the gas from the galaxies," said Staveley-Smith.

For the pair of galaxies, the hot gas cloud of ionized gas, filled with free electrons and which stretches for millions of light years around the cluster is like tumbling into a vat of treacle that then begins to scour the gas on the leading edge of the infalling galaxies, ablating it.

"The density of electrons and the speed at which galaxies are falling into the hot gas cloud are enough to explain why so much gas has been pulled away from the galaxies and into the bridge and surrounding areas," said Staveley-Smith.

 

The bridge between the two galaxies has a different origin. Here, gravitational tides between the galaxies pull gas out of each other, forming the bridge and associated spurs.

We see a very similar phenomenon much closer to home, in the form of the Magellanic Stream of neutral hydrogen gas that stretches between the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds and onto the Milky Way.

These two dwarf galaxies orbit the Milky Way at distances of 163,000 and 200,000 light-years, respectively, moving through our galaxy's outer halo of hot gas not too dissimilar, but on a much smaller scale, from the Virgo Cluster's halo of hot gas.

Stars are seen to be forming within the Magellanic Stream, and similar bridges and tidal tails are known to be hot-spots of star formation elsewhere in the universe.

 

"Understanding these gas bridges and their dynamics provides critical insights into how galaxies evolve over time, how galactic gas is redistributed and the varying conditions under which galaxies may or may not form stars," said Staveley-Smith.

"This contributes to our broader understanding of the most massive structures in the universe and their life cycles, which helps us grasp more about their vast complexities and history of star formation."

The observations of NGC 4532 and DDO 137 were made as part of a pilot study for a new survey, the Widefield ASKAP L-Band Legacy All-sky Survey (WALLABY), which aims to study neutral hydrogen in galaxies all across the sky to better understand how the cosmic forces of gravity and pressure shape that gas, and what role it plays in star formation.

News on 3I/ATLAS: Lack of Non-Gravitational Acceleration Implies an Anomalously Massive Object

In a new paper (accessible here) that I co-authored with Richard Cloete and Peter Veres, we used data on the motion of 3I/ATLAS — as compiled by the Minor Planet Center between May 15 and September 23, 2025, to set an upper limit on the deviation of 3I/ATLAS from a trajectory sculpted by gravity alone.

 

The upper limit on residuals is 0.028 arcseconds over a period of several months, implying that the non-gravitational acceleration of 3I/ATLAS was smaller than 15 meters per day squared.

The total mass loss rate and outflow speed from its surface were inferred from the Webb Space Telescope data on August 6, 2025 (accessible here).

Given that the rocket effect is not noticeable, the mass of 3I/ATLAS must be bigger than 33 billion tons. Consequently, the diameter of its solid-density nucleus must be larger than 5 kilometers.

This suggests that 3I/ATLAS is more massive than the other two interstellar objects, 1I/`Oumuamua and 2I/Borisov by 3–5 orders of magnitude, constituting a major anomaly.

Given the limited reservoir of heavy elements, we should have discovered on the order of a hundred thousand interstellar objects on the 0.1-kilometer scale of 1I/`Oumuamua before finding 3I/ATLAS, yet we only detected two interstellar objects previously.

 

Our analysis compared the evolution in the observed sky positions of 3I/ATLAS (Right Ascension [RA] and Declination [Dec]) to the trajectory expected from gravity alone. The optical astrometric data span 4,022 individual measurements from 227 observatories worldwide.

The comparison to the expected sky positions provided a net upper limit of 0.028 arcseconds on sky position shifts during the 4.5 months between May 15 and September 23, 2025.

A systematic trend is unlikely to be affected by a shift in the centroid of light owing to the development of a bright spot away from the nucleus of 3I/ATLAS.

The highest-resolution image of 3I/ATLAS, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope on July 21, 2025 (accessible here), showed an optically-thin anti-tail in the direction of the Sun which persisted during July and most of August (and analyzed here).

On August 27, 2025, imaging by the Gemini South telescope revealed the growth of a faint tail from 3I/ATLAS away from the Sun (as reported here). Throughout the entire period, the brightest point remained centered on the nucleus.

 

Over a short time interval, T, a non-gravitational acceleration, A, results in a positional shift that grows as 0.5AT².

Given that the distance of 3I/ATLAS from Earth in mid-August was 2.6 times the Earth-Sun separation (as discussed by the SPHEREx team here), our upper limit on the sky position shift translates to an upper limit on the non-gravitational acceleration, A<15 meters per day squared.

 

Momentum conservation implies that 3I/ATLAS must be massive in order not to be pushed back by the flow of material from its warmed Sun-facing side.

I assumed a high collimation of the evaporated materials because the glow of scattered light in the Hubble Space Telescope image was twice longer towards the Sun than it is wide, at a viewing angle of 10 degrees.

Since [1/sin(10 degrees)]=5.8, the elongation in the plume ahead of 3I/ATLAS must have been 10 times longer than it is wide. This jet-like structure suggests a high collimation.

The product of the mass loss rate and the outflow speed divided by the upper limit on the non-gravitational acceleration, sets a lower limit on the object’s mass.

The Webb telescope data taken on August 6, 2025 (accessible here) implies a total mass loss rate of 150 kilograms per second and an outflow speed of 440 meters per second.

Given these values, our upper limit on the non-gravitational acceleration yields a minimum mass of 33 billion tons for 3I/ATLAS. At solid density, this implies a minimum diameter of 5 kilometers for the nucleus of 3I/ATLAS.

This minimum diameter is close to the upper bound of the range of 0.44 to 5.6 kilometers inferred from the Hubble telescope data (as reported here).

It is an order of magnitude larger than the inferred diameter of the interstellar comet 2I/Borisov (as discussed here).

 

A large nucleus mass for 3I/ATLAS exacerbates the tension between the interstellar mass reservoir of rocky material ejected from exoplanetary systems and the implied detection rate of interstellar objects of its size, as I derived in a paper published shortly after the discovery of 3I/ATLAS (accessible here).

The passage of 3I/ATLAS near Mars on October 3, 2025 will allow the HiRISE camera onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to achieve a pixel resolution of 30 kilometers. The amount of sunlight reflected from the brightest pixel in the HiRISE image will constrain further the nucleus surface area for an assumed albedo value.

Additional constraints can be obtained on March 16, 2026, when 3I/ATLAS will pass in proximity to the Juno spacecraft near Jupiter (as proposed in the paper I published with Adam Hibberd and Adam Crowl here and endorsed in a letter by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna here).

 

The mass of 3I/ATLAS scales with its diameter cubed. If the nucleus diameter of 3I/ATLAS will be found to be larger than 5 kilometers in the HiRISE image, then an origin associated with the interstellar mass reservoir of rocky material will be untenable.

An alternative technological origin could explain the rare alignment of the trajectory of 3I/ATLAS with the ecliptic plane (having a random chance of 1 in 500, as discussed here), and the detection of nickel without iron — as found in industrially-manufactured alloys (as reported by the VLT team here).

Given this tight upper limit on non-gravitational acceleration, a future detection of a major maneuver of 3I/ATLAS would suggest propulsion by a technologically manufactured engine.

 

Is 3I/ATLAS an unusually massive comet with an unusual chemical composition on an unusually rare trajectory or alien technology?

In both cases, the object could shed CO2 and H2O ices from material that collected on its frozen surface as it plowed through interplanetary and interstellar space.

We should not decide about the nature of 3I/ATLAS based on the chemical composition of its skin, for the same reason that we should not judge a book by its cover.

 

Hopefully, we will know more in the coming weeks. Stay curious. As Galileo Galilei instructed us, scientific truth is revealed by data, not by authority.

As humans, we have instinctual responses that are exacerbated by group influences.

 

What we might not do as individuals we may do as part of a group. People may lose control of their usual inhibitions, as their mentality becomes that of the group.

 

You have never heard of a peaceful riot. Riots are by definition violent in nature.

 

All a riot is, is violent group behavior. The larger the group the greater the amplification of that group behavior. If the group behavior is peaceful, exemplified by Martin Luther King and Ghandi, the group behavior is peaceful and orderly.

 

If the group behavior is violent, the larger the group the more magnified the violence.

 

A mob mentality phenomenon has occurred throughout human history, whether witch burning, religious zealotry, political protests or reaction to perceived racial micro aggressions.

 

Three psychological theories address crowd behavior.

 

First is Contagion Theory, proposes that crowds exert a hypnotic influence on their members that results in irrational and emotionally charged behavior often referred to as crowd frenzy.

 

Second is Convergence Theory that argues the behavior of a crowd is not an emergent property of the crowd but is a result of like-minded individuals coming together. If it becomes violent is not because the crowd encouraged violence yet rather people wanted it to be violent and came together in a crowd.

 

Third is Emergent-Norm Theory that combines the two above arguing that a combination of liked-minded individuals, anonymity and shared emotions leads to crowd behavior

Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, which we have written about before, is too faint and will remain so, since during perihelion, it will be close to the orbit of Mars.

 

C/2025 R1 (SWAN) is putting on a show at this time.

C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) should get much brighter after Perihelion.

Ruan Retires from UHCOP After 18 Years of Teaching, Mentorship and Research

 

Jan. 29 — After nearly two decades of exemplary service, teaching, and groundbreaking research, Ke-He Ruan, M.D., Ph.D., retired from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy(UHCOP) on Jan. 15. Dr. Ruan’s tenure as a professor, researcher, and mentor has left an indelible mark on the fields of pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, and vascular biology.

Academic Journey

 

After earning his M.D. from Fujian Medical University in China and his Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from the Medical College of Miyazaki in Japan, he completed a fellowship in biochemistry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Before joining UHCOP as a professor in 2007, Dr. Ruan served as a tenured faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine at UTHealth Houston, where he rose through the ranks from assistant professor to associate professor and to tenured between 1991 and 2007.

 

During this period, Dr. Ruan also served as associate director and later director of the Vascular Biology Course at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, a joint graduate school between UTHealth and The University of Texas-M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Additionally, he has been a member of the Texas Heart Institute since 2005. At UHCOP, Dr. Ruan held prominent roles, including director of the Center for Pharmacoinformatics and Experimental Therapeutics, and was a member of the UH Drug Discovery Institute.

Research and Scientific Contributions

 

Dr. Ruan’s research has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of the molecular and cellular regulation of lipid metabolites, particularly through the cyclooxygenase pathway. His work on prostacyclin (PGI2), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) has illuminated their crucial roles in vascular and neuronal diseases.

These innovative enzymes, with triple catalytic functions, have revolutionized the control of arachidonic acid metabolites. Enzymelink selectively enhances PGI2 biosynthesis while suppressing TXA2 and PGE2 production, demonstrating profound therapeutic potential in preventing endothelial dysfunction and ischemic heart disease.

 

Dr. Ruan’s pioneering work extended to active single-chain GPCR-G-protein complexes. By linking G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), such as thromboxane A2 and prostaglandin E2 receptors, to specific G-proteins, he created versatile platforms for modulating GPCR signaling. These innovations offer new therapeutic pathways for vascular diseases and GPCR-related pathologies. His team was the first to identify the detrimental effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin, on heart repair due to their suppression of stem cell growth. He also discovered the potential of hybrid Enzymelink technology for gene and cell therapy in vascular and central nervous system disorders.

Patents and Innovations

 

Dr. Ruan’s inventive spirit is reflected in numerous patents. In 2024, he was granted a patent for a single polypeptide chain insulin capable of stabilizing glucose levels up to three times longer than conventional insulin. This innovation could reduce production costs and extend injection intervals for patients with Type 1 diabetes.

 

Another patent for a vaccine variant using single polypeptide chain enzyme-complex technology is under review. Additionally, he holds three pending patents for therapeutic Enzyme-Link cell lines, hybrid proteins, and the Vaccine-Link platforms. He also discovered compounds targeting downstream pro-inflammatory mPGES-1, paving the way for next-generation anti-inflammatory drugs that overcome the side effects of current NSAIDs. These contributions have established a foundation for novel interventions in cardiovascular, diabetic, and inflammatory diseases.

Scientists think we may have received a signal from a parallel universe via a WORMHOLE

In 2019, gravitational wave detectors on Earth picked up a signal that left scientists baffled.

Gravitational waves are ripples in the fabric of space and time, usually created when massive, dense objects like black holes collide.

But at less than a tenth of a second long, this sudden burst was far shorter than the drawn-out chirps normally produced by merging black holes.

 

Now, researchers think this strange signal, dubbed GW190521, could have arrived from a parallel universe.

In a pre-print paper, a team led by Dr Qi Lai of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences argues that GW190521 could be an 'echo' of a wormhole collapsing.

If a collision of two black holes was powerful enough to create a tunnel between universes, the gravitational signal could pass down the wormhole's throat into our cosmos.

 

Since the wormhole would only be open for a very short time, this would explain why GW190521 seems to cut off abruptly.

Although their modelling suggests this scenario isn't very likely, Dr Lai says evidence cannot rule out that the signal travelled to Earth from another universe.

According to Einstein's theory of relativity, objects with mass stretch and pull the fabric of spacetime, like weights placed on the surface of a trampoline.

 

One important consequence of this is that collisions between very massive objects create ripples which spread throughout the fabric of reality over enormous distances.

When pairs of black holes, known as binary black holes, spiral in towards each other, their gravitational fields interact and generate ripples of their own that get stronger as the voids grow closer.

That gives the signal produced by merging binary black holes a rising chirp-like pattern, which is a telltale sign of a black hole collision.

So far, scientists have used gravitational waves to detect about 300 collisions between binary black holes, each producing the same drawn-out chirp.

 

What makes GW190521 so unusual is that it is missing the rising part of the signal produced when the black holes spiral inwards.

Given that the resulting object was roughly 141 times the mass of the sun, scientists should have been able to detect this part of the signal if it occurred.

Currently, the best explanation for this unusual signal is a chance encounter between two black holes that smashed directly into one another without spiralling.

However, Dr Lai says that a wormhole in another universe is also a plausible explanation. In their paper, Dr Lai and his co-authors write: 'The wormhole represents such an object connecting either two separate universes or two distant regions in a single universe through a throat.'

 

If the merger of two black holes produced a short-lived wormhole like this, we might be able to hear a brief snippet of the chirp echoing into our own universe.

When the wormhole snaps shut, the signal would be cut off to leave a very brief burst of gravitational waves.

Dr Lai adds: 'The ringdown signal after BBHs (binary black holes) merged in another universe can pass through the throat of a wormhole and be detected in our universe as a short-duration echo pulse.'

Dr Lai and his colleagues created a mathematical model of what this wormhole signal would look like and compared it to the data from the real GW190521 signal captured by the LIGO and Virgo gravitational wave detectors.

 

The researchers also created a model for a sudden collision in our own universe and compared the results.

They found that the standard collision model did fit the data better, but only just. That means the wormhole model is still a viable explanation for the GW190521 collision.

In their paper, the researchers write that the preference for the standard collision was 'not significant enough to rule out the possibility that the echo-for-wormhole model is a viable hypothesis for the GW190521 event.'

If true, this would not only prove that wormholes exist but also give scientists a powerful new tool to study them. That would allow scientists their first-ever glimpse into a universe beyond our own.

DeLaPena was the longest serving PEO in the U.S. Space Force (USSF). His legacy includes strengthening secure communication and precise positioning capabilities for the USSF and joint force warfighters.

 

DeLaPena's 40-year career in acquisitions—28 years on active duty, 12 years in civil service—is defined by his unwavering commitment to innovation, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. His leadership shaped the future of space-based capabilities.

During his tenure as the PEO, DeLaPena spearheaded a team of over 1,800 active-duty service members, federal civilians, and contractors and oversaw systems worth more than $22 billion, which included sustainment of 69 GPS and SATCOM satellites, 28 payloads in production or development, and more than 30 ground stations or ground systems.

DeLaPena’s portfolio provides warfighters and allies with close to 2.5 million GPS devices and terminals, globally.

White House Orders Agencies To Prepare Mass Layoff Plans In Event Of Shutdown

 

The White House budget office has instructed federal agencies to prepare to fire a ton of people (aka 'reduction-in-force' plans) that could permanently eliminate jobs in the event of a government shutdown - the latest twist in the latest shutdown groundhog day - effectively challenging Democrats to a game of chicken.

 

In a memo shared with agencies Wednesday, the Office of Management and Budget said departments must identify programs where discretionary funding will lapse on Oct. 1 and no alternative source is available. Instead of a typical furlough, OMB has told agencies to get ready for permanent reductions - starting with positions that are out of alignment with President Donald Trump's priorities.

 

In the past, affected employees were furloughed on a temporary basis and reinstated once Congress approved new spending. Not this time - as OMB Director Russ Vought is using the prospect of deep cuts as leverage against the Democrats.

 

"Programs that did not benefit from an infusion of mandatory appropriations will bear the brunt of a shutdown," reads the OMB memo - with agencies instructed to submit their proposed RIF plans and to issue notices to employees who might otherwise be excepted or furloughed during a lapse in funding, Politico reports.

 

Core services - including Social Security, Medicare, veterans benefits, military operations, law enforcement, immigration enforcement and air traffic control - would continue regardless of a shutdown, according to an OMB official familiar with the guidance.

 

At the heart of the deadlock, Democrats are demanding that any short-term spending measure include an extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies that are due to expire, as well as broader negotiations on domestic priorities. Republicans, by contrast, are pushing to advance a leaner stopgap bill already passed by the House that would fund the government through Nov. 21 while largely preserving Trump administration priorities and holding the line on additional healthcare spending.

Trump's Trade Deal With South Korea On The Rocks As Lutnick Seeks More Cash

 

A little over a month ago, we joked that Trump was throwing around such ridiculous trade deal numbers - investments in the hundreds of billions if not trillions from countries for whom said promises were multiples of their GDP…

 

… the while impressive sounding, the while house of trade cards would crumble the moment someone does anything more than cursory due diligence, or merely peeks behind the curtain to try to understand what was just signed.

 

It appears that South Korea just peeked.

 

According to the WSJ, Trump’s trade deal with South Korea - announced with so much fanfare - is on shaky ground, with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick taking a tough line in talks as some Seoul officials privately argue to allies that the White House is moving the goal posts.

 

As a reminder, in late July Trump said the U.S. had agreed to lower South Korea’s reciprocal tariffs, plus levies on autos, to 15% from a proposed 25%. In exchange, South Korea pledged $350 billion in U.S. investments, plus another $100 billion in American energy purchases.

 

Well, it appears that Trump is altering the deal (and pray he doesn't alter it further). Lutnick, in recent conversations with South Korean officials, has discussed with Seoul the idea of increasing the $350 billion they had previously guaranteed to the U.S. in July and suggested the final tally could get closer to the $550 billion pledged by Japan.

 

Furthermore, the commerce secretary has also told South Korean officials in private that Trump is looking for more of the funding to be provided in cash rather than loans, a recurring joke by those who first pointed out that the deal is, in a word, ridiculous as the $350BN represents a fifth of the country's entire gross domestic product.

 

According to the WSJ, the fate of the Trump administration’s trade pact with South Korea represents a key barometer for the U.S.’s broader tariff dealmaking with dozens of countries. Many of those deals, including the one with Seoul, have been verbal, not signed, agreements. That has left a gulf between the U.S. and some of its key trading partners over what it would take to cross the finish line.

US Jets Scrambled To Intercept Russian Warplanes Off Alaska Amid Growing Incidents

 

Amid ongoing soaring tensions between the West and Russia, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) scrambled American fighter jets to identify and intercept four Russian warplanes flying near Alaska.

 

NORAD indicated in a fresh statement that the incident occurred Wednesday, and involved a pair of Russian Tu-95 long-range strategic bombers and a pair Su-35 fighter jets traversing the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

 

The US side sent E-3 early warning and control aircraft, and four F-16s and four KC-135 tanker planes, "to positively identify and intercept" the Russian aircraft - NORAD described.

 

The ADIZ is considered international airspace that borders US and Canadian sovereign airspace. Such an action by Russian aerial forces has become somewhat routine, but has occurred more frequently over the last couple years, also as war continues to rage in Ukraine.

 

For example, August saw three similar incidents play out within only a matter of a week. And before that, there were a half-dozen instances since the year's start where Russian planes entered the ADIZ.

 

There were dozens of other instances in 2024 and 2023 - each requiring NORAD to send its own jets to shadow, monitor, and intercept the Russian aircraft.

 

As we detailed before, in September 2024 NORAD released footage of a Russian plane flying "within just a few feet" of US military aircraft near the coast of Alaska, prompting a general to say at the time that the Russian Su-35 plane’s conduct "was unsafe, unprofessional, and endangered all."

 

NORAD has previously acknowledged that Russian bomber flights near Alaska occur "regularly". But recently China has even begun to join some Russian patrols of northern Pacific areas, including areas extending near Alaska.

NATO warplane struck Polish home during ‘Russian’ drones incident – media

A three-meter-long air-to-air missile that hit a rural home in Poland while NATO jets were responding to an alleged drone incursion, was fired by a Dutch – and not Polish – fighter jet, the Onet news outlet reported Wednesday, citing insider sources.

Warsaw responded to a series of airspace violations by unarmed UAVs on the 9 September by scrambling NATO jets and accusing Russia of being behind the incident – an allegation Moscow has strenuously denied.

 

One of the Dutch F-35 warplanes taking part in the overnight response launched the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile which failed to properly fire and landed on a modest country home near Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship, according to Onet.

The report contradicts the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, which attributed the debacle to one of Warsaw’s F-16s. Earlier accounts claimed that a “Russian drone” had caused the damage to the house.

 

Russian Deputy UN Ambassador Dmitry Polyansky noted this week that the only damage from the incident came from the unexploded air-to-air missile, which he described as “Polish”.

Last week, Estonia accused Russia of sending MiG-31 fighter jets into its airspace, a claim Moscow says is not supported by evidence.

 

Moscow has accused Poland and Estonia of using disinformation to portray Russia as a threat to the European Union and to pressure the United States to continue supporting Kiev in its conflict with Moscow.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has praised the bloc’s handling of the incidents but declined to promise that Russian aircraft would be shot down in future cases, saying such decisions “are taken in real time and are always based on available intelligence regarding the threat posed by the aircraft.”

 

US President Donald Trump has said NATO nations should be ready to shoot down Russian jets, calling Russia a “paper tiger” and asserting that a truly strong power would have overwhelmed Ukraine quickly.

He added that Ukraine, equipped with European-funded American weapons, could still achieve all its territorial objectives.

According to The New York Post, the remarks were based on “new US intelligence” suggesting Russian economic weakness and were intended as a “strategic move” to extract concessions from Moscow, rather than as a literal assessment of Ukraine’s military strength.

Multiple powerful earthquakes rock Venezuela

 

Tremors have been felt in the capital Caracas and across several states as far as neighboring Colombia

 

At least ten powerful earthquakes struck northwest Venezuela on Wednesday and early Thursday, sending tremors across the South American country as far as the capital Caracas.

 

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis) said several tremors exceeded magnitude 5.8, including two that came in over 6.

 

The epicenter was near Mene Grande in the oil-rich state of Zulia, about 600km (370 miles) west of Caracas. The strongest, at magnitude 6.3, struck at 5:21 pm local time.

 

At least 21 aftershocks have been recorded in the past seven hours. Local seismologists are monitoring ongoing activity in the region.

 

No casualties have been reported, but videos and photos shared online showed cracked walls in high-rises and damaged roads.

The husband of a top aide to Nancy Bass Wyden, wife of Democratic Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, has filed a lawsuit alleging the senator’s children bullied the aide into suicide.

 

Thomas Maltezos claims his partner, 35-year-old Brandon O’Brien, took his own life after two years of verbal abuse, slurs and harassment while working for Nancy, who is the heiress of Manhattan’s Strand Bookstore, according to the New York Post.

 

The lawsuit also alleges Wyden’s daughter exposed herself to O’Brien and made “sexually explicit” remarks while pressing him about the couple’s “intimate life” during school drop-offs, the Post reported. Maltezos claims Nancy ignored the behavior from her then-10-year-old daughter.

 

The lawsuit further alleges that Wyden’s son repeatedly hurled homophobic slurs at O’Brien, calling him “faggot” and “zest kitten,” and once claimed his football team “would rape him,” according to the Post.

 

In one episode, Nancy allegedly sprayed mace at her son to stop him from throwing objects at O’Brien, but O’Brien was accidentally hit as well.After O’Brien resigned in September 2024, Nancy reported him to New York police, accusing him of stealing $650,000 through credit cards and other means, the outlet reported.(Why are the Wyden’s living in NY when he represents Oregon?)

 

Court filings** allege Nancy hired a private investigator to dig into O’Brien’s personal life and smear him with false rumors to colleagues, the Post reported. The theft investigation was dropped after O’Brien died by suicide in May. Maltezos later mourned their 14 years together in a LinkedIn post, calling O’Brien “the love of my life, my heart, and my home,” and urging others to “hold your loved ones close.”

 

Nancy’s attorneys dismissed the lawsuit as “baseless and deeply misguided” and “riddled with false accusations,” insisting it was an attempt to deflect from O’Brien’s “documented pattern of theft,” according to the Post.

 

Maltezos’ lawyers countered that“the allegations against the senator’s wife are shocking, disturbing, and cruel — no person should ever be subject to this level of harassment, much less in the workplace.”

 

Sen. Wyden’s office did not respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.

Russia would gladly endorse US President Donald Trump’s idea to ban the development of biological weapons worldwide, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, calling it a “brilliant initiative.”

Trump told the United Nations this week he was seeking to reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction, adding that he was “calling on every nation to join us in ending the development of biological weapons once and for all.”

 

The US president also linked what he called “reckless experiments overseas” to the Covid-19 pandemic, echoing his earlier claims that the coronavirus originated in a Chinese lab – an accusation Beijing has vehemently denied.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Peskov welcomed the remarks as a “very important appeal” and a “brilliant initiative.” “Of course, Russia is ready to participate in such a process of renunciation from bioweapons, and it would be good to formalize it at the international level.”

 

The overwhelming majority of the global community, including Russia, the US, and China, are members of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), which prohibits the development, production, and stockpiling of biological and toxin weapons.

Moscow has for years accused Ukraine – which is also party to the BWC – of hosting Western-supported biological laboratories as well as using chemical weapons on the battlefield.

In late 2024, Russian officials stated that the US continues to operate 30 biolabs on the territory of Ukraine as part of an illegal military-biological program, adding that it sought to expand the framework to Africa.

 

In 2022, then-US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland, a prominent Russia hawk in the administration of Joe Biden, admitted that Ukraine has “biological research facilities” but dismissed allegations that they could be used for biological warfare.

Last month, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said American experts had finally started to take notice of Moscow’s concerns about biological facilities in Ukraine.

US Intel Leads To Capture Of Cartel-Linked Baby Trafficking, Organ Harvesting Ringleader

 

U.S. intelligence aided in the capture of an alleged female ringleader of a cartel-linked baby trafficking and organ harvesting network, officials announced Wednesday.

 

The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), part of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), provided intelligence that supported the arrest of Martha Alicia Mendez Aguilar, also known as “La Diabla,” according to an agency press release. Aguilar’s network lured pregnant women to remote locations, forced cesarean procedures, harvested organs from the mothers and sold the babies to couples in the U.S. for up to 250,000 pesos (roughly $14,000).

 

“This is one example of what terrorist cartels will do to diversify their revenue streams and finance operations,” NCTC Director Joe Kent said in a statement. “NCTC delivered critical intelligence on ‘La Diabla’s’ location and developed comprehensive analysis that enabled U.S. and Mexican law enforcement partners to take action. I am proud of our team’s ability to work with our forward-deployed U.S. partners and Mexican law enforcement to stop these horrific acts.”

 

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)-affiliated baby trafficking ringleader was captured in Juarez, Mexico, on Sept. 2, according to ODNI. The operation was executed by Mexican law enforcement partners and Fiscalia Especializada en la Mujer (the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Women) with the support of the U.S. Marshals Service El Paso, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation El Paso, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, according to the press release.

 

“NCTC remains committed to disrupting all aspects of terrorist cartels and their operations. And in this case, the lives of innocent women and children depended on it,” Kent said.

 

Since returning to the Oval Office, President Donald Trump has intensified his crackdown on cartels. On day one, he signed an executive order directing the State Department to label certain cartels and transnational gangs as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). On Feb. 20, the State Department officially designated groups — including CJNG, Tren de Aragua and MS-13 — as FTOs.

 

“As a result of these efforts, NCTC is applying two decades of counterterrorism expertise to assist law enforcement partners in targeting FTO-designated cartels, like CJNG, who use violent tactics, terrorize localized communities, and gain control over territory that enables them to engage in profitable illicit activity,” the press release stated.

 

On Friday, U.S. forces conducted a strike on a cartel boat carrying more than 2,000 pounds of cocaine, marking the third such strike this month targeting a drug-trafficking vessel operating in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has said he is ready to step down once the hostilities with Russia end.

The statement, made in an interview with Axios on Thursday, comes as questions mount over his legitimacy and accusations that Ukraine’s leadership is becoming increasingly authoritarian.

Zelensky’s presidential term officially expired in May 2024, but he has refused to resign or call a new election under martial law. Russia insists that this means the Ukrainian leader no longer has a mandate to govern.

 

Asked by Axios if he would call an election in the event of a temporary truce, Zelensky said yes.

“Another clear example is the Western-provoked crisis in Ukraine, through which NATO and the European Union want to declare – have already declared – an actual war on my country and are directly participating in it,” the top diplomat added.

 

Moscow has consistently characterized the Ukraine conflict as a Western proxy war against Russia, in which Kiev’s forces are being used as “cannon fodder.”

Russia has repeatedly condemned military aid to Kiev, accusing the West and the EU in particular of militarization and belligerent rhetoric.

 

Russian officials have also argued that the West has been escalating tensions in the region for many years, disregarding Moscow’s longstanding concerns over NATO’s eastward expansion.

They point to the military bloc’s growing cooperation with Ukraine, which accelerated after the 2014 Maidan coup in Kiev and the ensuing conflict in the then-Ukrainian Donbass.

Curfew imposed in India’s border region after violent clashes injure dozens

India has imposed a curfew in Leh, the capital of its union territory of Ladakh, which borders China, after violent demonstrations resulted in several injuries and damage to property.

The union territory was formed from the former state of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019 by New Delhi in response to growing demands for autonomy by the locals, who mostly profess Buddhism.

 

The demonstrators, believed to be linked to well-known environmentalist and activist Sonam Wangchuk, are demanding that the union territory become a full state of India along the lines of the nation’s 28 states.

Wangchuk had been on a hunger strike since September 10 demanding that the Indian federal government meet the demand for Ladakh’s statehood among others.

“On 24th September, at around 11.30 am, a mob instigated by his [Wangchuk’s] provocative speeches left the venue of the hunger strike and attacked a political party office as well as Government office of the CEC [Chief Election Commissioner] Leh,” the Indian Home Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

 

“They also put these offices on fire, attacked the security personnel, and torched police vehicles,” the ministry added. “The unruly mob attacked the police personnel in which more than 30 police/CRPF personnel were injured.

The mob continued to destroy the public property and attack the police personnel. In self-defense, police had to resort to firing in which unfortunately some casualties are reported.”

 

The Indian Home Ministry said that it is “clear that the mob was incited” Wangchuk “through his provocative statements.”

It added: “Incidentally, amidst these violent developments, he broke his fast and left for his village in an ambulance without making serious efforts to control the situation.”

 

Wangchuk said the demonstrations were an “organic outburst” of people’s frustrations and added that the violence made it one of the “saddest days” of his life.

“For the last five years, we have maintained utmost peace and always peaceful approaches following Mahatma Gandhi's path,” Wangchuk said, according to India Today.

“But today was something totally unexpected, out of the blue, very organic, when youth came out and went on a rampage.”

Spain To Join Italy in Sending Warship To Assist Gaza Aid Flotilla After Israeli Attack

 

At least 14 Americans are on Gaza flotilla boats, including many veterans

 

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Wednesday that Spain will join Italy in sending a military warship to help the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is attempting to deliver aid to starving Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip and came under drone attack following threats from the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

 

“Last night, multiple civilian boats were targeted by unmanned drones,” the Global Sumud Flotilla said on Wednesday. “The attacks included the deployment of explosive and incendiary devices, deliberate dispersal of chemical substances onto civilian vessels, disabling of emergency communication devices, and calculated physical damage designed to render the ships unseaworthy and endanger volunteers aboard.”

 

The group added that all of its crew remain safe. According to a flotilla tracker, the flotilla consists of 52 boats, and the majority of them are currently right off the coast of Crete. Two boats previously came under drone attack when they were in Tunisia.

 

Italy was the first country to announce it was deploying a warship to aid the flotilla, citing the presence of Italian citizens on the boats. Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that to “ensure assistance to the Italian citizens on the flotilla,” he had “authorized the immediate intervention of the Italian Navy’s multi-purpose frigate Fasan.”

 

Sanchez announced his plans to deploy a warship while attending the UN General Assembly in New York. “The government of Spain insists that international law be respected and that the right of our citizens should be respected to sail through the Mediterranean in safe conditions,” he said.

 

“Tomorrow we will dispatch a naval vessel from Cartagena with all necessary resources in case it was necessary to assist the flotilla and carry out a rescue operation,” Sanchez added.

 

According to Ann Wright, a retired US Army colonel and peace activist, at least 22 American citizens, including six veterans, are among the more than 500 unarmed crew members on boats in the flotilla. The US government has stayed quiet about the Israeli attacks on the flotilla boats despite the presence of US citizens.

 

The Sumud Flotilla marks the fourth attempt to break Israel’s starvation blockade on Gaza this year, but the first time that multiple vessels are involved. The first boat to try to break the blockade this year, the Conscience, came under Israeli drone attack off the coast of Malta in May, halting its journey.

 

In June, another boat, the Madleen, made it close to Gaza’s coast before being boarded and seized by Israeli forces and taken into an Israeli port. The third boat, the Hamdala, was also captured by Israeli forces, and the humanitarian aid it was carrying was seized when it attempted to break the blockade in late July.

 

Back in 2010, Israeli forces raided six boats attempting to break the blockade on Gaza, and nine Turkish activists were killed on one of the vessels.

Texas Youth Baseball Coach Shot by Three Men While Praying with His Players on the Field (VIDEO)A Houston youth baseball coach was nearly gunned down earlier this week while kneeling before God with his young players in a senseless crime.

ICE Agents Won't Comply With California's 'Unconstitutional' Face Mask Ban: DHS

 

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said on Sept. 22 that it will defy California’s new law banning federal immigration agents and other law enforcement personnel from wearing face masks while on duty.

 

“To be clear: We will NOT comply with Gavin Newsom’s unconstitutional mask ban,” DHS said in a social media post.

 

DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin accused California Gov. Gavin Newsom of “fanning the flames of division, hatred, and dehumanization of our law enforcement” by signing the ban.

 

Newsom signed the measure on Sept. 20, making California the first state to prohibit most officers from covering their faces during official duties. The move followed criticism of masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducting operations, which Newsom described as resembling a “dystopian sci-fi movie.”

 

“Unmarked cars, people in masks, people quite literally disappearing,” Newsom said. “No due process, no rights, no right in a democracy where we have rights.”

 

Trump administration officials have defended the masks as essential for agent safety at a time when immigration enforcement has grown politically explosive, in some cases drawing violent anti-ICE protests.

 

“At a time that ICE law enforcement faces a 1,000 percent increase in assaults and their family members are being doxxed and targeted, the sitting Governor of California signs unconstitutional legislation that strips law enforcement of protections in a disgusting, diabolical fundraising and PR stunt,” McLaughlin said.

The Israeli prime minister’s plane took an unusual circuitous route to New York in an apparent attempt to avoid entering the airspace of countries where he is wanted for war crimes.

 

Binyamin Netanyahu was on his way to speak at the UN general assembly where he has promised to “tell our truth” in what is expected to be a controversial speech. He is known for having used props and theatrics there in the past.Netanyahu’s state aircraft, Wing of Zion, avoided Spanish and French airspace, according to the aviation website Flight Tracker.

 

The Times of Israel suggested that the longerjourney was taken to avoid countries that are signatories to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has issued a warrant for Netanyahu’s arrest, alongside the former defence minister Yoav Gallant, for alleged war crimes.

 

The British government has indicated that Netanyahu would face arrest if he travelled to the UK, while France has said the prime minister may have immunity as Israel is not an ICC member state.

 

Analysts and journalists remarked on the unusual route on social media, saying that it was indicative of Israel’s diplomatic isolation.

 

“Few things illustrate how Netanyahu has navigated Israel to diplomatic isolation than the route his plane (without journalists) is taking this morning en route to New York, carefully threading its way to avoid flying over countries where he may be arrested on an ICC warrant,” wrote Anshel Pfeffer, Netanyahu’s biographer and a correspondent for The Economist.

 

“To save fuel on its circuitous ICC-evading route Netanyahu’s Boeing 767 is flying half-empty, without any journalists. Also absent is the [National Security Council] head [Tzachi] Hanegbi who opposed both the Gaza City offensive and the Qatar strike and is on his way out,” he added.

 

Yanir Cozin, a correspondent with Israel’s army radio, said: “Prime Minister Netanyahu’s plane is taking a long and unusual route to New York, flying along the southern Mediterranean route, significantly extending the flight==. Why? To avoid a situation where an emergency landing would be required in a country that would enforce the arrest warrants of the International Court.”

 

Netanyahu’s speech at the UN comes after a week of diplomatic shifts, with Israel-allied countries including the UK, France, Canada, Australia and Portugal recognising the state of Palestine in response to Israel’s continued war on Gaza and settlement building in the West Bank.

 

“I’m going with my wife to the UN general assembly and to Washington. At the UN general assembly I’m telling our truth — the citizens of Israel, the truth of the IDF soldiers, of our country. I will denounce those leaders who, instead of denouncing the murderers, rapists and child burners, want to give them a state in the heart of the Land of Israel. That will not happen,” Netanyahu said at Ben Gurion airport on Thursday morning ahead of his speech on Friday.

 

Netanyahu will meet President Trump in Washington on Monday. The Trump administration has condemned moves by western powers to recognise a Palestinian state. Trump is, however, expected to warn Netanyahu to moderate his response.

A powerful explosion followed by a detonation was heard in the city of Swindon in the United Kingdom, where the Ministry of Defense announced the construction of a huge drone factory on September 16.

Microsoft pulls the plug on IDF tech over alleged Gaza surveillance

 

Following a review, the company concluded that the Israeli military used Microsoft's Azure to store large volumes of phone call recordings from Gaza and the West Bank.

 

Microsoft on Thursday said it disabled a set of cloud and AI services used by a unit within the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) after an internal review found preliminary evidence supporting media reports of a surveillance system in Gaza and the West Bank.

 

Brad Smith, Microsoft's president, said the company opened the review after an article by the Guardian alleged activity by a unit of the Israel Defense Forces.

 

A joint investigation published in early August by the Guardian, Israeli-Palestinian publication +972 Magazine and Hebrew-language outlet Local Call reported that an Israeli military surveillance agency used Microsoft’s Azure to store large volumes of mobile phone call recordings from Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

 

"We do not provide technology to facilitate mass surveillance of civilians," Smith said in a Microsoft blog.

Microsoft has informed the Israeli defense ministry of its "decision to cease and disable specified IMOD subscriptions and their services, including their use of specific cloud storage and AI services and technologies."

 

The action does not impact Microsoft's cybersecurity services to Israel and other countries in the Middle East, Smith said.

 

Microsoft's ties to Israel

In late August, Microsoft fired four employees who took part in protests on company premises over its ties to Israel as the war in Gaza continues, including two who joined a sit-in at the office of the company's president.

Microsoft said the terminations followed serious breaches of company policies and the on-site demonstrations had "created significant safety concerns."

Comey could face criminal charges for allegedly lying to Congress during his September 2020 testimony following an investigation overseen by Lindsey Halligan, a White House aide and Trump’s former personal attorney. In response to the possible indictment, Behar said that she also dislikes Comey for opening an investigation against former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton just 11 days before the 2016 election.

“You know what, I don’t like Comey. I agree with Trump on this one. I don’t like what he did to Hillary,” Behar said. “I’m just saying. But I rarely have something that I agree with Trump on, so this is one thing.”

Russia strikes Sumy with drones, causing four explosions: Military Administration reveals aftermath

Today, September 25, Russian troops struck Sumy with drones.

In total, four explosions were reported in the city, according to Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov and acting mayor Artem Kobzar.

According to preliminary information, the enemy struck with Italmas drones.

 

Two of them hit the territory of a private enterprise, one struck a residential area, and another explosion occurred near a communal enterprise of the Sumy City Council.

Preliminary reports indicate that 27 windows were shattered in the residential area. Hryhorov reported that the hits were recorded in the Zarichnyi and Kovpakivskyi districts in the afternoon.

 

The extent of the damage is currently being assessed, and all necessary services are working at the sites of the explosions.

Preliminarily, there are no reported casualties from the strikes, but an elderly woman sought help due to an acute stress reaction and was assisted on-site.

Local residents were warned that the threat of repeated attacks persists. The Sumy Regional Military Administration urged people to stay in safe locations and not ignore air raid alerts.

 

What is known about the Italmas

The Italmas (also known as Geran-3, Product 54, or "Lawnmower") is a simplified version of the Shahed-136 kamikaze drone. It is also referred to as a hybrid of the Shahed and Lancet.

It can reach speeds of up to 150 km/h and strike targets at distances of up to 200 kilometers. The drone is equipped with a Chinese gasoline engine and carries 15 to 25 kg of explosives.

 

The Italmas drone is a typical tool of terror used by Russian forces, as they employ it to attack civilian targets. Due to its small warhead, it is rarely used against military objects, and its low speed makes it ineffective against mobile targets.

Previously, on the night of September 22, a series of explosions occurred in Sumy following an attack by kamikaze drones. Two drones hit industrial facilities, while another struck an educational institution.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) claimed Tuesday on X that Google, under GOP pressure, had committed to offer "ALL creators" banned from YouTube for "political speech" the opportunity to return to the platform.

 

"So Youtube will only be reinstating channels they approve under a 'limited pilot program' which hasn't even started yet," Nick Fuentes commented Thursday afternoon on X. "Sounds a little ridiculous. Can't we just have free speech? I've been banned since February 2020 when I was 21 years old."
