1 killed in RSF drone attack on UN aid convoy in Sudan’s North Kordofan: Medics

A Sudanese medical group said Friday that one person was killed and three others were injured after drones operated by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted a humanitarian convoy of the World Food Program in Sudan’s North Kordofan state.

 

In a statement, the Sudan Doctors Network said RSF drones struck the convoy in the Allah Karim area as it was heading toward displaced people in the city of El Obeid, the state capital.

 

The network described the attack as a “clear violation of international humanitarian law,” warning that it undermines efforts to deliver life-saving aid to civilians amid worsening humanitarian conditions across the country.

 

It held the RSF fully responsible for the attack and called on the international community, the UN and human rights organizations to take urgent action to protect humanitarian workers, launch an independent and transparent investigation, and ensure accountability.

 

There was no immediate comment from the rebel group.

 

Of Sudan’s 18 states, the RSF controls all five states in the western Darfur region, except for parts of North Darfur that remain under army control.

 

The army holds most areas of the remaining 13 states across the south, north, east and center of the country, including the capital, Khartoum.

 

The conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which erupted in April 2023, has killed thousands of people and displaced millions.

Norway drone ‘threat’ fails to materialise as spy service finds no link to foreign states

Investigations into dozens of suspicious sightings near airports and military bases in 2025 conclude that reports were often sparked by ‘celestial bodies’ and weather phenomena.

 

OSLO – Norway’s domestic intelligence agency has concluded that none of the numerous drone sightings reported across the country throughout 2025 were the work of foreign intelligence services, despite heightened public anxiety regarding national security.

The Police Security Service (PST), which is responsible for counter-espionage and counter-terrorism, launched a series of investigations following a surge in reports of suspicious aerial activity near critical infrastructure, including military installations and airports.

 

However, in an interview with the Norwegian daily VG, Inger Haugland, a director at the PST, confirmed that the investigations had effectively cleared foreign powers of involvement in last year’s sightings.

“We have not uncovered a single case of a drone being controlled by a foreign state,” Haugland said. “Our mandate is about identifying and countering foreign states that threaten national security—and we are as confident as we can be in the reports from the observations in 2025.”

 

Mistaken identity

The findings suggest that the Norwegian public’s heightened state of vigilance may have led to a “false positive” effect. throughout 2025, local police forces across almost every region of Norway were flooded with tips from concerned citizens.

While local police conduct the initial groundwork, the PST is brought in to determine if the activity constitutes a clandestine threat from a hostile power. In many instances, the “drones” turned out to be far more mundane.

 

“There have been various celestial bodies such as stars, weather phenomena, aeroplanes, or helicopters,” Haugland explained.

She noted that the difficulty of judging distances in the night sky often led to misidentification, though she stressed that the PST still encouraged the public to remain alert. “It is good that people are vigilant and still report them to the police,” she added.

 

The shadow of Ukraine

The surge in reports is widely seen as a symptom of the broader security climate in Europe.

With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine demonstrating the devastating efficacy of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the modern battlefield, the sight of a flickering light in the sky has taken on a new, more sinister meaning for many Norwegians.

 

Norway, a key NATO member and a vital supplier of gas to Europe, has been on high alert for potential sabotage or surveillance since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“We see how drones are changing modern warfare,” Haugland said. “It is a tool that foreign intelligence could potentially choose to use in Norway as well. Drones can be used in several ways that are potential threats from a security perspective.”

While 2025 may have been a year of “ghost drones” and misidentified stars, the PST maintains that the threat of foreign interference remains a primary concern for the Nordic nation, even if the latest aerial mysteries have been solved.

As Promised, War Department Moving Out Fast on Drone Dominance

Feb. 6, 2026

 

The War Department announced Feb. 3 the selection of 25 vendors who will help the department achieve its goal of getting some 300,000 drones into the force, both quickly and inexpensively, by 2027.

Those companies will compete in the first phase, or "gauntlet," that makes up the department's Drone Dominance Program — an acquisition reform effort designed to rapidly field low-cost, unmanned one-way attack drones at scale.

 

This first gauntlet begins Feb. 18 when program participants will bring unmanned aircraft system prototypes to Fort Benning, Georgia.

There, participants will teach military personnel how to use those prototypes, and then military operators will use them to complete various mission scenarios, including an evaluation on their ability to find, lock on and destroy a target.

 

By the end of the first gauntlet, vendors will be scored on the systems, and up to 12 of the 25 vendors will be invited to produce their drones, at scale, for the department.

As part of the first phase, the selected 12 vendors will produce a total of 30,000 units, at an average price of $5,000 for each, and deliver by July.

The Drone Dominance Program will do two things: drive costs down and capabilities up, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said in a video posted to social media late last year.

"We will deliver tens of thousands of small drones to our force in 2026, and hundreds of thousands of them by 2027."

Through the program, funding will allow for the manufacture of some 340,000 small UAS to combat units over the course of two years.

 

After that, it's expected that American industry's interest in building drones, as a result of the program, will have strengthened supply chains and manufacturing capacity to the point that military services will be able to afford to buy the drones they want, in the quantity they want and at a price they want, through regular budgeting.

Last year, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order outlining how the United States would up its drone game in both the commercial and military sectors, including how it would deliver massive amounts of inexpensive, American-made, lethal drones to military units, so they can amplify their own combat capabilities.

According to multiple flight-tracking websites, one aircraft designated Janet 31 departed Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas at 5.55am PT (8.55am ET) and was last descending into the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), which houses Area 51.

 

Another flight, this one labeled Janet 43, took off from Harry Reid International 32 minutes later and was last seen heading for a landing area closer to Area 51.

The infamous base has been tied to extraterrestrial lore for decades, with UFO researchers and conspiracy theorists claiming that secret government projects have been conducted at Area 51 since the 1950s.

The flights come just days after US Congressman Eric Burlison claimed he has received permission from the White House to visit secret facilities tied to unconfirmed reports of extraterrestrials and non-human craft Congress has been investigating.

 

The flights were also spotted after Trump Administration insiders allegedly claimed that full disclosure on UFOs and alien life could come from the president by July 2026.

Designed by Boeing, Janet jets have a distinctive look, with an all-white body and a single red stripe running from the nose to the tail.

According to Flight Aware, this was the flight straight day Janet 31 has flown into the airspace over NTTR, with tracking data revealing the plane appeared to land at the nearby Tonopah Test Range, often referred to as Area 52.

Meanwhile, Janet 43 has been seen flying four times this week, appearing to land at a different runway near NTTF, in Nevada's Lincoln County.

 

A third Janet was captured leaving the Tonopah Test Range Airport at Area 52 just after 11am ET on a course back to Harry Reid International.

The flights from Las Vegas typically take only 15 to 30 minutes, with military personnel regularly traveling the top secret complex to allegedly test and develop highly classified aircraft and weapons systems.

David Crete, a former Air Force Sergeant who was stationed at NTTF, previously told Daily Mail that the F-117A Nighthawk, America's first stealth bomber, was developed and tested at the base.

 

However, government whistleblowers and UFO researchers have both claimed to have seen and photographed unidentified objects flying over Area 51 for decades, many which don't look like normal aircraft or behavior like human-made technology.

Area 51, officially referred to as the Groom Lake test facility or 'the Ranch,' was established in April 1955 when scouts spotted the area while flying over the Mojave Desert.

Declassified CIA documents have revealed that the secret facility used to test the U-2 spy plane, which was crucial for intelligence gathering against the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

However, the more than 400-page report, which was officially unsealed in 2013, never mentioned what the base was used for after 1974.

 

Meanwhile, the secret Janet fleet started operations in 1972.

In 1989, famous UFO whistleblower Bob Lazar claimed in a televised interview that he worked at a secret site near Groom Lake known as 'S-4,' and that his job was to study alien technology and spacecraft recovered by the military.

Although the claims have become part of UFO and Area 51 lore, parts of Lazar's story, including his education and employee history, have never been confirmed with any physical records that back up his story.

The same dynamic exists in the world of litigation, where Pam Bondi’s DOJ has chosen the temporary fix over the permanent solution. In addition to having repeatedly bungled implementation of President Trump’s agenda, Bondi’s DOJ has deliberately avoided letting cases reach final judgment.

 

For example, DOJ has repeatedly attempted to moot litigation involving Biden-era policies, even after a judge seems on the verge of striking down those bad policies through a precedent-setting decision. Yet all this tactic does is ensure that a future Democrat administration will be able to put these Biden policies right back into effect.

 

But why would the Bondi DOJ work so hard to prevent lasting victories in court for Trump Coalition interests? Indeed, with DOJ friends like that, who needs enemies? If the Bondi DOJ’s hostility to the groups that made up the Trump Coalition in 2024 continues, it will seriously damage any chance of success in the 2026 midterms. This article will examine the Bondi DOJ’s infuriating pattern of obstruction, sabotage, and outright friendly fire against the Trump Coalition and ask one simple question: Why?

 

DOJ’s Failure to Implement the President’s Mandate

But first, let’s examine what DOJ could have done in service of the American people during this past year. As it turns out, DOJ has a number of legal tools available that it inexplicably has declined to use.

 

Consider the role litigation plays in shaping domestic policy. A court order can bind the government to a certain legal interpretation or specific course of conduct, and generally will survive a change in administrations. Thus, if the federal government is a party to a lawsuit, a court order against it can codify policy – good or bad.

 

So what happens when a new administration inherits an ongoing lawsuit that was originally brought by its political allies against the prior administration? Well, in the past, DOJ often has simply settled cases, either privately or via court-enforceable consent judgment. Perhaps to no one’s surprise, this tactic has been a favorite of Democrat administrations. The Biden DOJ’s handling of a prior Trump-era lawsuit illustrates the point.

 

When Biden took office in 2021, his DOJ inherited a pending ACLU-led lawsuit against the first Trump Administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration enforcement policy. Rather than litigate the case any further, the Biden DOJ settled with its friends at the ACLU, barring the federal government “from reenacting the zero-tolerance policy” until 2031, and agreeing to pay the ACLU some $6 million in attorneys’ fees to boot.

 

In addition to settling cases, DOJ also can (and has) let its friends’ lawsuits play out. For example, if a judge appears poised to rule in favor of an outcome the administration wants, DOJ can simply wait for that ruling. Then, not only will the federal government be bound by that ruling, but also it will generate favorable legal precedent for use in future cases.

 

The same options would be available if new lawsuits were to be filed during the administration – settle with allies when they are right, or let the courts issue decisions on the merits. But we are not talking about using the Democrat tactic often dubbed “sue and settle.” Democrat administrations have abused this tactic to “compel government action that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to achieve.”

 

In fact, During the Obama years, many of the administration’s environmental regulations came about from these sorts of “sue and settle” pre-arranged consent decrees. Although we are not urging the use of such sham lawsuits, it’s worth noting that this is the tactic the Democrats use to get what they want.

 

In stark contrast to the Democrats’ underhanded “sue and settle” tactics, Pam Bondi’s DOJ has refused to allow Trump Coalition victories even in legitimate litigation that has been ongoing for years. Instead, Pam Bondi’s DOJ has fought tooth and nail to make suits filed by Trump Coalition groups simply go away.

On Feb. 2 and 3, 1996, the NIDS science advisory board convened at Bigelow’s building on Eastern Avenue.

Among those around the table were Dr. Edgar Mitchell, the sixth man to walk on the moon, along with former U.S. Senator and Apollo 17 astronaut Jack Schmitt, who also had walked on the moon.

The first chairman was Dr. Kit Green, a brilliant neuroscientist and longtime CIA intelligence officer.

 

Other notables included physicist Dr. Hal Puthoff, who had helped develop the science behind remote viewing, and astronomer, computer scientist, and UFO author Dr. Jacques Vallee, who inspired the French scientist character in Spielberg’s film “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” along with several other academic heavyweights and a few who were active in top secret defense projects.

A journalist was also present for much of the weekend session. His scrawled notes indicate the first meeting was so contentious that the board could not agree on its own mission statement.

One unstated aim of NIDS was to set an example and “make it viable for serious scientists to research [these topics] without ruining their reputations,” Alexander explained.

Among the earliest projects undertaken by NIDS was the study of alleged alien implants, objects found in the bodies of people who claimed they’d been abducted by presumed ETs.

Bigelow funded nationwide surveys to determine how widespread alleged abductions might be.

 

NIDS also had an early interest in so-called mystery triangles, huge, silent, black triangles that were widely reported from the late 80s until the present.

“[Military jets] were left in the dust,” NIDS deputy director Colm Kelleher said in 2004. “One minute, there triangles were overhead and the next they’re on the horizon.”

 

Kelleher, a biochemist, was one of three full-time hires made by NIDS in the summer of 1996, along with physicist Dr. Eric Davis, who worked on multiple classified projects, and veterinarian Dr. George Onet.

The main reason NIDS hired a veterinarian was because of an ongoing oddity—animal mutilations.

There had been more than 10,000 incidents across the U.S. where animals, mostly cattle, were carved up with surgical precision. Not a single perpetrator had ever been caught.

 

NIDS teams would fly to the scene of mutilations to search for physical evidence.

Robert Bigelow’s personal interest in UFOs and mutilations led to a fortuitous purchase: A scenic, 480-acre ranch in northeastern Utah, which reportedly was a hotbed of unknown craft, animal mutilations, and other weirdness.

 

John Alexander accompanied Bigelow to meet the rancher. Bigelow bought the property, and NIDS began an intense multi-year investigation.

“It was interesting because you had a living laboratory because incidents were ongoing at the time,” Alexander explained. “Over time, we learned more and more about the history because this goes back decades to centuries.”

 

The NIDS board was divided about how to investigate what is now known as Skinwalker Ranch. Some favored a non-intrusive, low-tech approach.

Bigelow installed cameras, but whatever was behind the weird events at the ranch largely avoided detection. Alexander dubbed it “a precognitive sentient entity.”

The disturbing phenomena witnessed by NIDS personnel were kept largely secret until after NIDS itself dissolved in 2004. If NIDS has a legacy, it is the scientific, but open-minded approach to the unknown.

 

“I think what we did is probably set up a prototype for how to approach these things, again, a purely scientific basis,” Alexander said.

The only person Knapp told about that first NIDS board meeting was Senator Harry Reid, who had an interest in UFOs. Reid asked if he could attend a future meeting.

He did, and then 11 years later, he put together 22 million dollars to fund what became the largest UFO investigation in U.S. History—AAWSAP, which was modeled after NIDS and which is still a huge influence on the UFO topic.

Mysterious Car-Sized Object Seen Over Springfield, Missouri

Something unusual was apparently spotted over Springfield, Missouri a few days ago as an eyewitness claimed it was a diamond-shaped object the size of a small car.

 

According to the National UFO Reporting Center, this encounter of the Springfield, Missouri kind happened during the early morning hours of January 22, 2026. Here's the eyewitness story shared on the NUFORC site:

 

"I looked out my windows and saw the craft moving south to north. Seemed to be low flying. Had a metallic look rounded edges.

 

I caught a few seconds of it on my camera but can't see it well. I got a good look. Was black diamond shaped with some red in the morning sun."

 

Let's start with possible natural explanations of what this person in Springfield saw. Looking toward the sun can cause optical illusions according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

 

Sundogs, floaters, reflected light and mirages are all a possibility, but none explain what this person claims they witnessed. According to the description shared on the NUFORC, they seem convinced it was a real object and not a sun anomaly.

 

Not to be the constant cynic, but my question is why there's only one report of this object. Since it was spotted over the Springfield, Missouri area very close to rush hour on a Thursday morning, you'd think this would have been a mass sighting.

 

That's why I have to believe at this point that the sun caused this person to see something that wasn't really there, but I reserve the right to be wrong. You can read their report on the NUFORC and decide for yourself.

Attorney Names Officials Hiding UFO Evidence From Congress

Constitutional attorney Danny Sheehan, with over five decades of experience on classified government cases including Watergate and Iran-Contra, recently sat down on the Curious Dimension podcast and delivered one of the most detailed breakdowns of UFO secrecy to emerge from the disclosure space in recent months.

Sheehan described what he calls the “legacy group,” a small number of individuals embedded inside the CIA’s Operations Directorate, the Division on Science and Technology, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence who control what UFO information reaches the public.

 

He named Stephanie O’Sullivan, who served as Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence under James Clapper from 2011 to 2017, retired Admiral Bobby Ray Inman, now 94, and the late former Vice President Dick Cheney as figures connected to this structure.

According to Sheehan, his office tracked Cheney to an abandoned naval air station in Texas, secured by Blackwater private security, where he claims Cheney exercised authority over UFO-related programs outside any official government role.

 

Sheehan also made striking claims about the recovered craft themselves, stating they contain biological components such as neurons, synapses, and dendrites integrated into their structure.

He described the craft as semi-sentient, semi-organic, and telepathically controlled. He argued that civilizations with billions of years of development beyond our own would have long mastered bioengineering at levels humanity is only beginning to explore.

 

One of the lesser-known revelations from the interview involves what Sheehan describes as two opposing factions inside the Pentagon.

The first is the legacy group, which he says has its own controlled disclosure schedule, slowly releasing select UFO information for reasons they will not explain.

The second faction, which he refers to as the Collins Elite, is a network of high-ranking Pentagon officials who believe the UFO phenomenon is demonic and want all information permanently buried.

According to Sheehan, Dr. Eric Davis was physically confronted by a member of this group in the Pentagon hallways and told his work on UFOs was satanic. Lue Elizondo has publicly described similar encounters, and Congressman Tim Burchett has referenced being warned against pursuing the subject.

 

On the congressional front, Sheehan referenced an exchange between Congressman Eric Burlison and Elizondo in which Elizondo confirmed he would not be authorized to provide definitive proof of recovered non-human craft even inside a SCIF.

As reported by Liberation Times, Burlison has expressed frustration over how tightly the intelligence community guards this material.

Sheehan also detailed how private aerospace companies ended up holding recovered UFO technology, operating under tacit agreements with the government because they cannot file patents without triggering public disclosure.

He says these companies funnel campaign contributions to key committee chairs to block transparency legislation, including the UAP Disclosure Act.

Lawmakers will be able to review the files on computers at DOJ starting Monday, according to a letter obtained by NBC News. They can take notes, but cannot have electronic devices.

 

Members of Congress will be able to begin reviewing the unredacted version of the Justice Department's files on Jeffrey Epstein on Monday morning, according to two sources familiar with the DOJ’s plans.

 

The review process will take place in person at DOJ, according to a letter to members of Congress obtained by NBC News. The members will be able to review the material on computers at the DOJ offices but not review the physical documents themselves.

 

The letter states that members can review the documents in person, provided they give DOJ 24 hours' notice. The option at this point is only available to members of Congress — and not their staff. They may take notes, but cannot bring in any electronic devices, the letter said.

 

The review will only be of the 3 million files currently available to the public, not the extensive trove of more than 6 million documents in total that the DOJ says it has in its possession.

 

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche promised members of Congress access to the material when he announced the release of all the documents they planned to make public last Friday.

 

Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Ro Khanna, D-Calif., the co-authors of the law that resulted in DOJ releasing the massive amount of documents, wrote Blanche a letter later that day asking for access to the unredacted files.

 

Democrats on the Judiciary Committee also sent Blanche a letter last week asking for the opportunity to review the material as soon as possible.

 

The letter to Congress comes as Attorney General Pam Bondi is set to appear before the committee on Wednesday of next week and members want the opportunity to review the material before she appears.

 

Leadership and members of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees will be given priority in their review, but all members of Congress will have access at some point.

 

Epstein, a politically connected convicted sex offender, was charged in 2019 in Manhattan federal court with sex trafficking of minors. He died in his jail cell while awaiting trial and his death was ruled a suicide.

 

Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November, following backlash to a July memo from the FBI and DOJ declaring they had completed an exhaustive review into the case, that no other people would be charged and that they would not be releasing any more information about the case.

 

President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on Nov. 19, giving the attorney general 30 days to “make publicly available in a searchable and downloadable format all unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials in the possession of the Department of Justice” involving Epstein, “including all investigations, prosecutions, or custodial matters.”

 

The Justice Department has faced criticism from victims and lawmakers over the amount of information redacted in the files, as well instances of not redacting enough information about victims, who the Justice Department has said number over 1,000.

 

“We have seen a blanket approach to redactions in some areas, while in other cases, victim names were not redacted at all,” Khanna and Massie said in a joint letter to DOJ.

 

Blanche said last week that the department has still “withheld or redacted files covered by various privileges, including deliberative process privilege, the work-product doctrine, and attorney-client privilege. In total, approximately 200,000 pages have been redacted or withheld based on various privileges.”

 

Khanna and Massie have said that's a violation of the law enacted in November, which requires the release of “Internal DOJ communications, including emails, memos, meeting notes, concerning decisions to charge, not charge, investigate, or decline to investigate Epstein or his associates.”

State Department official Sarah Rogers discussed the plan with members of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party during a visit to London last year, three anonymous sources told the newspaper.Rogers, a vocal critic of European “hate speech” legislation, is spearheading the operation and will focus on supporting MAGA-friendly organizations in London, Paris, Berlin, and Brussels, one source said.

 

Rogers has been in contact with “free speech” activists in the EU and UK, and is targeting the UK’s Online Safety Act and the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), they added. Republicans in Washington have accused Brussels of using the DSA to stifle free speech and censor American social media users.

 

The plan mirrors decades-long initiatives by the US to fund liberal political, media, and civil society organizations in Europe. Many of these initiatives were shut down when US President Donald Trump cut almost all funding for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) last year.

 

A State Department spokesperson described the latest funding plan as “a transparent, lawful use of resources to advance US interests and values abroad.” However, the Financial Times noted that it is “likely to cause consternation” among center-left governments in Europe, who fear that the US may actively work to undermine their power.

 

The inverse of this scenario played out in 2024, when Britain’s center-left Labour government sent activists to the US to campaign against Trump for then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

 

Trump’s most senior officials have repeatedly criticized the EU and UK over censorship laws such as the Online Safety Act and DSA. EU court approves state theft of private cars bought in Russia

Judges have upheld a 2023 seizure of a €50,000 vehicle in Germany, confirming a blanket ban on imports from the sanctioned country

 

The EU Court of Justice has ruled this week that member-states may seize private vehicles imported from Russia, as part of a blanket import ban imposed on the country over the Ukraine conflict.

 

The court delivered the judgment on Thursday in a case concerning a Russian citizen, identified as JG, who had purchased a second-hand car in Russia in January 2023 and brought into his country of residence, Germany, via Poland, that May. German customs seized the vehicle, valued at just over €50,000, when he declared it that August.

 

JG claimed the import ban should only apply if his vehicle purchase was proven to provide significant revenue to Russia, which he argued his car did not. He also argued that his vehicle should be exempt because it was already physically inside the EU on December 19, 2023, the cutoff date after which some vehicles could be registered, and therefore the seizure was invalid.

 

The court rejected both arguments. It ruled the import ban applies automatically to listed goods, with no need to prove each transaction benefits Russia. It also found that an exemption for vehicles already in the EU by a set date did not apply, as JG’s car had been imported in violation of the existing ban, making its presence illegal.

 

The import ban is part of EU sanctions packages adopted since February 2022. The European Commission issued guidance in September 2023, stating vehicles with Russian plates are banned, regardless of private or commercial use. The EC claimed that permitting such items to cross the border generated income for Moscow.

 

Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) passed a resolution later that November, calling such seizures “overkill” and asking the Commission for a review. However, the measures remain in effect.

 

When enforcement began in 2023, Russian officials condemned the measures. The Kremlin called the national entry bans “absurd.” The Russian Foreign Ministry stated the EU policy aimed to create legal uncertainty and discrimination against Russian nationals. Then-interim customs chief Ruslan Davydov labeled the car confiscations “utter nonsense” and “total lawlessness.”

“In exchange for money, a hospital official assisted in the removal of body parts from deceased individuals, mostly those without relatives,” Volk wrote on Telegram. In some cases, the organs and tissues were also allegedly used in paid educational courses, where participants could observe or perform procedures.

 

The head of the pathology department at Alexandrovskaya Hospital and the founder of a private company producing anatomical models were detained on suspicion of official misconduct and corruption, according to the Russian Investigative Committee. Investigators said the businessman persuaded and bribed the hospital official to supply unclaimed bodies for the removal of internal organs, bones, and other parts,with the pathologist reportedly receiving at least 500,000 rubles ($6,500) per month.

 

Searches at the suspects’ workplaces led to the seizure of human remains, the committee said. A full investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances to decide on confinement measures for the arrested individuals.

 

The scheme reportedly involved primarily bodies of people who had no known relatives or led socially isolated lives. In some cases, representatives of commercial firms were allegedly allowed to conduct autopsies in the hospital morgue without proper documentation.

Ukrainian generals exposed in multi-million dollar corruption scheme

Anti-graft agencies report evidence of high-level embezzlement in the Defense Ministry

 

Ukrainian anti-graft agencies have announced the results of a major investigation of former senior military officials, including two generals, suspected of running a multi-million dollar embezzlement scheme.

 

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reportedly signed acontract for a key command and control system in 2016 with a commercial company that had no experience in creating software. Over four years of development, thetechnical specifications were changed 13 times, increasing the cost by $7 million. The Dzvin-AS troop command-and-control system only entered into service in 2022.

 

On Friday, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), said the investigation had moved to the legal disclosure phase that typically precedes formal indictments.

 

The alleged ring included adeputy head of the Ukrainian General Staff, a deputy commander of Communications Troops, the head of the General Staff’s automation department, and a businessman whose firm won the contract to develop the Dzvin-AS. Investigators saydelays and cost overruns that plagued the project helped the group embezzle $5.7 million.

 

Reports ofproblems with the Dzvin-AS surfaced in the media as early as 2021, citing a 2020 contract audit. In December 2022, months after the conflict with Russia escalated, then-Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov ordered the system’s deployment.NABU said in 2024 the Defense Ministry considered funding expansion for the system rather than fixing or scrapping it.

 

Reznikov resigned in 2023 over a separate corruption scandalinvolving inflated food procurement contractsbut was never charged with any crime.

 

NABU called the two investigations the agency’s most important efforts to fight military graft.

Zelensky criticizes Ukrainian Air Force

Awidespread failure to intercept Russian dronesis at the root of the complaint

 

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has sharply criticized the “unsatisfactory” performance of his country’s Air Force for failing to intercept Russian drones.

 

Russia unleashed a series of long-range strikes as a response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian power facilities, civilian infrastructure and “indiscriminate attacks on civilians,” according to Moscow.

 

“I consider the performance of the Air Force in some regions of Ukraine to be unsatisfactory,” Zelensky said in a Facebook post after meeting with Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov and the Air Force chief, Lieutenant General Anatoly Krivonozhko, where he said urgent changes to the military tactics were discussed.

 

Zelensky also blamed local authorities for power outages across the country.

 

In January, Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko linked the Russian attacks to a major energy crisis in the Ukrainian capital, where thousands of apartment buildings remained without power and heating for weeks. Zelensky responded that the mayor had only himself to blame for the low level of preparedness for such emergencies.

 

Later the same month,Zelensky pinned the blame on Kiev’s backers by claiming that Western-supplied Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems were unable to repel recent attacks due to the lack of ammunitioncaused by a failure of Western logistics and financing.

 

The Russian military halted their strikes for a week in late January upon Washington’s request to “create favorable conditions for negotiations” after Russian, Ukrainian and American delegations met in Abu Dhabi. US President Donald Trump said earlier this week that Russian President Vladimir Putin “kept his word” on the pause, whileZelensky claimed Russia broke its promise.

 

The Ukrainian forces have continued their attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure. On Wednesday, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that Ukrainian strikes had severely damaged energy infrastructure in Russia’s Belgorod Region, causing widespread power outages and disrupting heating.

 

Last month,Moscow also reported that Ukrainian attacks had resulted in 45 civilian deaths and left over 100 people injured in just the first 11 days of 2026.
