House oversight committee greenlights bill to ditch DC speeding cameras

 

The House Committee on Oversight and Reform advanced the “Stop DC CAMERA Act” by a vote of 21 to 19, with all Republicans voting in favor and all Democrats voting against. Unabated settler violence, along with Israel’s continued settlement policy, could spell doom for the remaining Christian communities in the Holy Land, Jason Jones, founder of the Vulnerable People Project, has told RT’s America First.

 

Israel has allegedly approved the demolition of thousands of homes in the West Bank belonging to Christian communities and is encroaching on the territory of some of the oldest Christian populations in the area, particularly around Bethlehem, as well as villages such as Taybeh, Jones claimed.

 

The settlement of Shtema located at the site of a former Israel military base just east of the town of Bethlehem “will be the end of the Christian community in the Holy Land,” Jones said. “It will be the end of the oldest Christian community in the world,” he added, referring to a settlement legalized by West Jerusalem last year.

 

The NGO founder, whose organization operates in the West Bank and other territories, warned that local Christian communities are being attacked by settlers. “There is direct physical violence. There is separating the communities,” Jones added.

 

Neither West Jerusalem nor Washington is willing to act, with the US choosing to be “on the side of the oppressor,” Jones believes. Mike Huckabee, the US ambassador to Israel, is “just ignoring it,” according to Jones. Huckabee, a former Baptist minister, “was not man enough to rise to the occasion and speak truth,” Jones said.

Troops travel in vehicles, that have shooting capabilities and easy on in limited by attributes and are bigger vehicles making them easier to see and target. Personnel carriers must deploy troops to increase eyes on, and splitting from a vehicle is dangerous too, when you have to run or carrying heavy loads. Yes, water is hard to transverse. Our only solution is hovercraft. The 2 seater jetsons, could get a small force on land much quicker, as hovercraft carry larger, slower payload. Imagine having one ship that is dedicated to these types of units similar to the Tripoli. The Tripoli carriers around 40 planes, that must deploy serially, one at a time. You could launch about 100 hundred of these by the time you launch one plane. The eyes on and dispersion factor would outweigh one fight for covering a beachhead. The Trump administration filed its response Thursday in the birthright citizenship case, which the Supreme Court is expected to hear next month.

The case centers on President Donald Trump's executive order directing federal agencies to interpret the 14th Amendment as excluding birthright citizenship to the children of illegal migrants and tourists.

Trump imposed the order last year as a means to deter pregnant tourists from having their babies in the United States and illegal migrants to stop using the method as a way to remain in the country.

The Trump administration argued in the brief response that the Constitution's Citizenship Clause was intended to grant citizenship to freed slaves and their children, and therefore have an allegiance to the United States.

"Children of temporarily present or illegal aliens do not qualify because their parents are not domiciled in, and thus do not owe the requisite allegiance to the United States," the brief reads, per journalist Benjamin Weingarten. "Temporarily present aliens are by definition not domiciled here, while illegal aliens lack the legal capacity to form such a domicile."

The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments in the case on April 1.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, current Republican governor of Arkansas and White House press secretary during the first Trump administration, has once again found herself on the receiving end of intolerance from the left, this time at a croissant cafe near her children's school. Sanders was apparently enjoying lunch last week at The Croissanterie in Little Rock alongside a group of fellow moms when she and her security were approached by staff and asked to leave "due to concerns that her presence was making employees feel threatened and uncomfortable due to her political views."

When she stood to comply with the request – she and her party reportedly had already eaten their meal, paid their bill, and tipped the staff at this point – an individual standing with the cafe staff shouted at the group and made an obscene hand gesture in their direction.

Gov. Sanders took to social media Thursday to tell her side of the story, saying the restaurant had not met the "warm hospitality" standard usually found in her state.

The Croissanterie has also issued a statement saying they were "surprised and uncertain how best to respond" when the governor and her mom friends entered the establishment. "By the time we entered the dining room, she was already seated and eating. At that point, we chose not to interrupt, expecting that the party would complete their meal and depart without issue," the statement continued.

"As business owners and members of this community, we recognized that any course of action carried consequences. Allowing her to stay risked being perceived as a lack of support for the community that makes up the majority of our team, as well as their families and friends. Conversely, asking her to leave could be viewed as denying service based on differing beliefs."

The establishment says they "ultimately made the decision" to "support our employees and guests who expressed they were uncomfortable," saying, "we do not recall any statements indicating that anyone felt threatened." This "support," apparently, refers to gay staff members.

Because actions have consequences, the unapologetic restaurant is now getting hammered on review sites, including from diners who were present for the distasteful interaction with Sanders' party.

"A federal arts commission on Thursday approved the final design for a 24-karat gold commemorative coin bearing Donald Trump’s image to help celebrate the US’s 250th birthday on 4 July.

 

"The vote by the US Commission of Fine Arts, whose members are supporters of the Republican president and were appointed by him earlier this year, was without objection. It clears the way for the US Mint to begin production on the coin, whose size and denomination are still under discussion.

 

“As we approach our 250th birthday, we are thrilled to prepare coins that represent the enduring spirit of our country and democracy, and there is no profile more emblematic for the front of such coins than that of our serving president, Donald J Trump,” the US treasurer, Brandon Beach, said in a statement.

 

Federal law says no living president can appear on US currency. But Megan Sullivan, the acting chief of the office of design management at the Mint, said the treasury secretary has authority to authorize the minting and issuance of certain coins.

 

"She presented the coin’s final design at the commission’s March meeting on Thursday and said Trump had approved it.

 

“It is my understanding that the secretary of the treasury presented this design, as well as others, to the president and these were his selection,” Sullivan said.

 

"The White House and the Mint did not immediately respond to electronic and telephone requests for comment.

 

"The front of the coin features an image of Trump in a suit and tie with a stern look on his face. His fists rest on top of what is supposed to be a desk as he leans forward. Lettering on the top half of the coin spells “Liberty” in a slight arc. Directly underneath that are the dates “1776” and “2026”. The words “In God We Trust” are at the bottom, with seven stars on one side of the coin and six stars on the other side.

 

"The reverse side depicts a bald eagle mid-flight with “United States of America” on the right side and “E Pluribus Unum” on the left side.

 

“I know it’s a very strong and a very tough image of him, and I think it’s fitting to have a current sitting president who’s presiding over the country over the 250th year on a commemorative coin for said year,” said commissioner Chamberlain Harris, a top White House aide to Trump.

 

"The coin will be part of a “very limited production run”, Sullivan said, but the number has not been determined. The size and denomination of the coin also have not yet been decided, she said. Some commissioners noted Trump’s fondness for big things as they advocated for the largest size coin…"
