RFK Jr. Announces New Clinic for People Injured by Vaccines

The Make America Healthy Again Commission, led by Kennedy, recommended in 2025 starting a new vaccine injury research program at the NIH as part of an effort to investigate vaccine injuries with better data collection and analysis.

“[The clinic is] dedicated to developing the science of preventing vaccine injuries, making vaccines safer, and most important of all, listening to the voices of people who have suffered vaccine injury, so that we can learn from them and learn from their experience to make vaccines safer,” Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, NIH director, said in an Oct. 8 video statement.

NIH doctors and researchers will use the clinic to evaluate patients, identify potential causes of health problems, and try to figure out the best treatments, the Department of Health and Human Services, the NIH’s parent agency, which is led by Kennedy, said in a statement.

It’s in contrast to the U.S., where a 100% tariff effectively shut Chinese EVs out. The European Union, the U.K.’s biggest trading partner, has manufacturer-specific duties on Chinese EVs of up to 35.3%, in addition to a standard 10% import duty on all foreign cars.

Now, the U.K. faces a difficult choice, as EU proposals may force it to impose tariffs to match the bloc’s.

At the weekend, The Sunday Times reported that U.K. Business Minister Jonathan Reynolds is considering matching the EU’s levy on Chinese EVs to avoid the pain of so-called Made in Europe proposals, which could hurt domestic companies selling into the EU.

A U.K. government spokesperson reiterated to CNBC that it had not imposed tariffs on Chinese EVs but added,“We continue to engage closely with industry so that our approach reflects the sector’s and UK’s national interests.”

The Made in Europe legislation, part of the EU’s Industrial Accelerator Act, is designed to protect the bloc’s industries from unfair international competition by prioritizing European-made goods.

AnEU official told the Financial Times in September that London would need to raise tariffs on Chinese EVs and align more closely with EU trade policyto avoid “Made in Europe” barriers.

The decision is finely balanced, given Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s desire to reset relations with the EU, which the U.K. formally left in 2020, and the likelihood of China responding with retaliatory measures.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in London said it had expressed “serious concern” to Britain about the reports about potential tariffs.

“China is firmly opposed to any discriminatory practice involving tariff hikes or restrictive measures on Chinese products,” a spokesperson said Tuesday. “We will continue to follow developments and respond accordingly,” they said.

Chinese automakers rapidly made inroads in the U.K.

Chinese car brands have swiftly captured market share in the U.K.

Analysis by Jato Dynamics found that registrations of Chinese automakers, or original equipment manufacturers, across both battery-electric and hybrid powertrains, rose to 519,424 between the start of January and the end of August, lifting their total market share to 28.1%. That’s up sharply from 12.9% in the same period in 2025.

Hybrids accounted for the larger increase, adding 62,655 registrations versus 32,565 for battery-electric vehicles.

Monday, October 5, 2026 For Immediate Release Office of Public Affairs

Today, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) sent a joint letter to all state Attorneys General reaffirming the Trump Administration’s commitment to protecting parental rights. The letter puts Attorneys General on notice that under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), parents have the right to know and be informed of the most sensitive and personal information pertaining to their children. ED and DOJ also announced a new enforcement action against the Los Angeles Unified School District in California (LAUSD) for policies that require staff to keep sensitive information hidden from parents.

The Trump Administration’s message is clear: the era of silencing, harassing, and targeting parents is over, and their rights under federal law are non-negotiable. Five years ago, the Biden Administration weaponized the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate parents who attended school board meetings, including setting up a dedicated snitch-line. The infamous October 4th memorandum came after the Biden White House coordinated with the National School Boards Association to label parents as “domestic terrorists.” Today’s letter and enforcement action also come on the same day the DOJ’s Weaponization Working Group released its report exposing the memorandum’s creation.

“Parents are children’s natural providers and protectors,” said Harmeet K. Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights.“The Biden-Harris DOJ labeled concerned parents as threats for exercising their right to know what was happening at their kids’ schools. This Civil Rights Division stands with parents, and we will continue to partner with the Department of Education to enforce parents’ rights under federal law.”

“Under the Biden Administration, parents were the enemy. They were labeled as terrorists, targeted, and investigated by a government weaponized against them,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. “That era is over. The Trump Administration is acting with unprecedented energy and purpose to restore parents’ natural rights as the primary protectors of their children. The Department of Education is committed to fully enforcing FERPA and PPRA. We are grateful to the Department of Justice for partnering with us to hold rogue schools accountable, including the Los Angeles Unified School District, and urge all state Attorneys General to work with us in upholding the letter of the law.”

Additionally, ED partnered with DOJ to take enforcement action against LAUSD for policies that violate FERPA and PPRA. These policies direct district employees to “privately ask the student how they want to be referred to when communicating with parents/legal guardians” and to keep a students’ self-professed “gender identity” “private” or “confidential,” including from parents. LAUSD’s parental secrecy policies have allowed students to make life-altering decisions in secret, unbeknownst to their parents.

Compare this to the Biden Administration that opened several investigations into parents, some of which were led by the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division and Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate. One FBI field office interviewed a mother because she was a member of Moms for Liberty, which it disparaged as a “right wing mom’s group.” Another FBI tip launched an investigation into a father opposed to mask mandates because he “fit the profile of an insurrectionist.”

FERPA and PPRA are federal privacy laws enforced by the Department's SPPO. FERPA protects the privacy of students’ education records and safeguards parents’ rights to access their children’s education records, seek amendments to those records, and exercise control over the disclosure of personally identifiable information. PPRA requires schools to provide notification and attain written parental consent when conducting surveys, analyses, or evaluations asking students for certain sensitive and private information such as sex behaviors and attitudes, religious beliefs, mental and psychological problems.

These statutory obligations were emphasized and clarified in the SPPO’s recent Dear Colleague Letters issued in March 2025 and August 2026.

In June 2026, the Department partnered with DOJ to provide more responsive and coordinated enforcement of our nation’s parental and civil rights laws with the goal of continuing investigations uninterrupted while also cutting red tape and expediting enforcement.

"[The judges] were not buying what [Saudi Arabia] were selling," said Terry Strada, whose husband was killed in the attacks and who publicly called on the Trump administration last month to support their efforts. "This was a very good day for us."

The Saudis want the case thrown out, claiming they have immunity from civil litigation as a sovereign foreign government despite Congress enacting a law nearly a decade ago meant to grant victims of terrorism the opportunity to sue alleged state sponsors of terrorism.

The three-judge panel of appellate judges on Wednesday largely steered clear of the merits of the case whether the Saudi government supported hijackers who carried out attacks in Washington and New York and focused narrowly on dense jurisdictional matters.

The hearing in the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York extended long past the allotted time for oral presentations.

If the judges rule in favor of the families, the case could proceed to trial as soon as next year and would open the door for the families to pursue more evidence that could cast light on the Kingdom's role in the attacks.

"Give us our trial … we want our day in court,” Brett Eagleson, who lost his father on 9/11, said at a news conference following the hearing. "What you saw today is Saudi Arabia grasping at straws."

Both Eagleson and Strada reiterated past calls for the Trump administration to step in and "hold [the Saudi government] accountable” and to "put America first."

The judges took the matter under advisement. Lawyers involved in the case don't expect a ruling until early 2027.

With past presidents in attendance at this year’s 9/11 commemoration in New York, marking 25 years since the attacks, several family members openly faulted the U.S. government for keeping these materials secret.

"Administration after administration, including leaders in front of us here today, chose to protect the Saudis instead of standing with the 9/11 families," Strada, the widow of 9/11 victim Tom Strada, said during the ceremony.

President Trump was not present at the New York commemoration and instead attended a commemoration ceremony at the Pentagon.

"President Trump is leading the most transparent administration in history, which is why he authorized the declassification and release of hundreds of pages of documents related to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001," the White House said in a statement released the afternoon after the 9/11 commemoration in New York.

Evidence released so far as part of a lawsuit traces the activities of Omar al Bayoumi, a Saudi national who had been living in California. The families, citing FBI records released during the Biden administration, say he was a Saudi intelligence asset who assisted at least two of the hijackers. As ABC News previously reported, the families say Bayoumi aided those two hijackers by "finding them an apartment in his complex" and "providing funds just below the suspicious activity reporting threshold to help them open a bank account,” according to the families’ lawsuit.

Many of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi nationals, according to the FBI, along with a few others from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Lebanon.

The Saudis have repeatedly denied having any role in facilitating the 9/11 attacks and said in court Wednesday that they remain "an ally of the United States [and] a sworn enemy of Al Qaeda."

The decision on whether to declassify additional 9/11 records ultimately lies with President Donald Trump, whose administration has touted government transparency.

A White House spokesperson told ABC News last month that "President Trump is leading the most transparent administration in history, and his team is working diligently to identify records that are responsive to these families' request."
