Does it feel like we’re being herded inside?

It feels like capitalism is pushing people to not leave the house.

Everything can be brought to you with the click of an app. Your groceries, your clothes, your household items, your entertainment , and lately with apps like doordash and postmates…even your fast food.

I am not against convenience, but I’ve noticed that I noticed that normal things like running out to grab a few things from the store and being around strangers annoy me more than they did before everything was so convenient.

Insurance companies even have apps where you can just chat with a doctor instead of going anywhere.

People are getting more and more isolated. It feels like the sense of community I used to feel just a few years ago is gone. People just seem to be on edge everywhere you go.

I guess the ultimate conspiracy to all this is…the more isolated we are, the easier it is to divide us.

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson tried to cover up his office's collusion with labor unions after a think tank asked for public records about their communications, according to a lawsuit.

Ferguson is one of several Democrats seeking to resist the Trump administration's directive that would prohibit states from siphoning Medicaid payments away from at-home caregivers and putting them in the pockets of labor unions, such as Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

The Freedom Foundation, a Washington state pro-free market think tank, requested public records about the attorney general's communications with major public sector unions relating to the policy. In return, it received pages of emails from Ferguson's office. The bodies of those messages were reduced to black ink, nearly everything redacted except for the salutations and signatures of the senders.

Now the foundation is suing for the full records, saying that the government is covering up its collusion with powerful labor organizations.

I have been thinking about the reset of the currency, the wall, the fed and I think I have finally put it all together. The wall is imperative but not for the simple reason of the current situation. It will be imperative for the future situation. Once this currency reset happens and fed is taken down the country will be liberated. Exclusive: A documentary debunking the Magnitsky myth, which was an opening salvo in the New Cold War, was largely blocked from viewing in the West but has now become a factor in Russia-gate, reports Robert Parry.

Near the center of the current furor over Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer in June 2016 is a documentary that almost no one in the West has been allowed to see, a film that flips the script on the story of the late Sergei Magnitsky and his employer, hedge-fund operator William Browder.

The Russian lawyer, Natalie Veselnitskaya, who met with Trump Jr. and other advisers to Donald Trump Sr.’s campaign, represented a company that had run afoul of a U.S. investigation into money-laundering allegedly connected to the Magnitsky case and his death in a Russian prison in 2009. His death sparked a campaign spearheaded by Browder, who used his wealth and clout to lobby the U.S. Congress in 2012 to enact the Magnitsky Act to punish alleged human rights abusers in Russia. The law became what might be called the first shot in the New Cold War.

According to Browder’s narrative, companies ostensibly under his control had been hijacked by corrupt Russian officials in furtherance of a $230 million tax-fraud scheme; he then dispatched his “lawyer” Magnitsky to investigate and – after supposedly uncovering evidence of the fraud – Magnitsky blew the whistle only to be arrested by the same corrupt officials who then had him locked up in prison where he died of heart failure from physical abuse.

Despite Russian denials – and the “dog ate my homework” quality of Browder’s self-serving narrative – the dramatic tale became a cause celebre in the West. The story eventually attracted the attention of Russian filmmaker Andrei Nekrasov, a known critic of President Vladimir Putin. Nekrasov decided to produce a docu-drama that would present Browder’s narrative to a wider public. Nekrasov even said he hoped that he might recruit Browder as the narrator of the tale.

However, the project took an unexpected turn when Nekrasov’s research kept turning up contradictions to Browder’s storyline, which began to look more and more like a corporate cover story. Nekrasov discovered that a woman working in Browder’s company was the actual whistleblower and that Magnitsky – rather than a crusading lawyer – was an accountant who was implicated in the scheme.

So, the planned docudrama suddenly was transformed into a documentary with a dramatic reversal as Nekrasov struggles with what he knows will be a dangerous decision to confront Browder with what appear to be deceptions. In the film, you see Browder go from a friendly collaborator into an angry adversary who tries to bully Nekrasov into backing down.

Blocked Premiere

Ultimately, Nekrasov completes his extraordinary film – entitled “The Magnitsky Act: Behind the Scenes” – and it was set for a premiere at the European Parliament in Brussels in April 2016. However, at the last moment – faced with Browder’s legal threats – the parliamentarians pulled the plug. Nekrasov encountered similar resistance in the United States, a situation that, in part, brought Natalie Veselnitskaya into this controversy….

CenturyLink : Southeastern Asset Management Calls on CenturyLink to Sell Assets

Southeastern Asset Management on Tuesday called on CenturyLink Inc. (CTL) to improve its balance sheet through asset sales.

"Southeastern believes that the company's fiber assets are extremely undervalued in the stock market, especially considering the metrics which entities such as infrastructure funds and cable companies have paid in recent private transactions for fiber assets. Therefore Southeastern intends to talk to such infrastructure funds, to cable companies, and to any other verticals who are heavy users of fiber networks but may want to own such networks or parts of them," Memphis-based Southeastern said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The company said it has a 6.2% stake in CenturyLink.

CenturyLink earlier this month cut its annual dividend to $1 from $2.16. The company also pledged to lower its leverage target and accelerate its time frame to achieve it.

Southeastern said the dividend cut wasn't the best way to address balance-sheet concerns, and it will seek to add directors with financial expertise.

"In light of such private market interest, we believe the preferred way to improve the balance sheet should be through asset sales," the firm said.

If assets sales are more likely in the intermediate term than the short-term, Southeastern said it believes separate target stocks should be considered for the fiber network business and consumer business.

Government inquiry documents abuse at Catholic orphanages in Scotland

LEICESTER, United Kingdom - A new report published Thursday in Scotland shows that children suffered abuse at two children’s care homes run by a Catholic religious order, both of which have been closed for decades.

The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry (SCAI) said that the two children’s facilities run by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul - Smyllum Park in Lanark and Bellevue House in Rutherglen - were “places of fear, coercive control, threat, excessive discipline and emotional, physical and sexual abuse, where they found no love, no compassion, no dignity and no comfort.”

The interim report said that the children at the homes were “systematically starved of love, dignity and compassion.”

In August, Police arrested around a dozen former members of the staff at Smyllum Park, which closed in 1981, on charges of historic abuse. All those arrested were over 60.

That’s when he says a Catholic priest entered his bedroom in Ionia and changed his life, ruining his capacity for trust and imparting in him a pervasive sense of shame and guilt.

“I’ve got 30 years of therapy under my belt and now I can talk about it, I can talk about it without tearing up,” says McAlary, on the phone from his Grand Rapids-area home, adding he still receives therapy weekly.

Today, at age 73, he’s come to terms with what he alleges happened at the hands of a priest who worked in the Grand Rapids Diocese and later in the Diocese of Saginaw. The Saginaw Diocese has acknowledged the priest was credibly accused of sexually abusing minors.

McAlary told his story of being a Catholic sex-abuse victim after MLive-The Saginaw News was put in touch with him through the St. Louis, Mo.-based Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests, or SNAP.

May our thoughts and minds be protected from the deceptive lies and wicked deceit of the enemy as we cover our heads with the helmet of Christ’s Salvation, by grace through faith and may we wheel the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God with wisdom and understanding as we stand firmly grounded on the Rock of our salvation.

You know back in the early 1980’s the Catholic Church was pushing hard for people to have evangelical committees in every Catholic Church to bring people back to the church, it lasted just a few years with very very bad results….

I remember that well as I was suppose to be the president of one such group, the more I talked to former Catholics, the more my eyes opened as to the truths of the church. Parker, an aging and somewhat pathetic version of the character played by Jake Johnson. Shortly after he first appears, he recaps his life story with the help of a montage. He mentions tying the knot with his longtime flame Mary Jane Watson and the visual representation of their nuptials is his foot stomping a glass wrapped in cloth, which is a famed tradition in Jewish wedding ritual. Reader, I shrieked. Could it be that ol’ Petey is a member of the tribe? I had to know, so I consulted the film’s directors.

It turns out that the answer to the question “Is Jake Johnson’s Peter Parker Jewish?” is “Probably.” But it’s kind of up to the viewer.

“I happen to have a personal conviction, for many reasons, that Peter B. Parker is likely Jewish,” says co-director Rodney Rothman. “Personally, I grew up in Forest Hills, Queens” — Parker’s home neighborhood — “and I’m Jewish, so maybe I’m just projecting.” However, he cautions that there are other possible interpretations: “I will say, because this is an alternate universe, we just don’t know. It could be that Buddhists step on glass. It could be that M.J. is Jewish and Peter converted. It could be that …” he trails off and tosses the question to his co-directors. “I don’t know, what else could it be?”

“It could be, maybe that’s not a glass!” says co-director Peter Ramsey, who is African-American, before he refers to the film’s star, Afro-Latino Spidey Miles, saying, “Hey, I got a black Spider-Man, so you can do what y’all want.’”

“But, yes, I had my own personal theory and I was a real loudmouth about it,” Rothman adds. “I was mainly just messing with people, but I would say, ‘You know Spider-Man is Jewish, right?’ I was like, ‘His name is ‘Spider-Man,’ just for starters.” He pronounces it “Spiderm’n,” à la many Ashkenazi Jewish surnames such as “Rothman” or “Riesman,” just to name two random examples.

Before I turn the topic to something a little less niche, I ask whose idea the glass-breaking was, and the answer comes swiftly. “That was Rodney!” shouts co-director Bob Persichetti, referring to Rothman, who chimes in with, “Yeah, that was me. But like I said, it’s an alternate universe; it could mean so many things. We just don’t know.” With all due respect, Rodney, that’s bullshit. Own it, boychik! The Peter B. The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, as well as Michigan's six other Catholic dioceses, are under investigation by the state Attorney General's office which is looking into sex-abuse claims dating to the 1950s. One Saginaw-area priest currently faces criminal sexual misconduct charges and is headed to trial in March.

Expanding investigation

In September 2018, then-Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette revealed his office was investigating allegations of Roman Catholic clergy sexual abuse spanning more than a half-century in all seven Michigan dioceses. Several dioceses in Michigan – including Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Gaylord and Saginaw – have issued statements or taken actions to address the crisis. New state Attorney General Dana Nessel plans to discuss the ongoing investigation on Thursday, Feb. 21.
