Problem with the media is that they're not good about citing primary sources so a reader can actually look up the study. The article below says there WAS a study done in 2016, here's a snippet:

You might be ablet to find the study with that info but it would be a pain. Everything in the media is dumbed down (I guess so it's in synch with our dumbed-down ed system).

Did a little study on bread speed and Q posting, just based on first and last notes, but gives some relative info:

33 mins is very fast with captchas

Even 53 mins seemed fast when I baked part of that bread; constantly busy, between typing & lookups in archive

At this point in the night, we are back to pretty slow pre-graveyard breads, used to be I think around an hour and a half pre-ca[tcha; now it's 3 hours min. Graveyard, was 2.5-4 hours max, now it's routinely over 5 hours (don't think it's ever under). Helps when a baker is present but hard to maintain that every night.

Captchas have an effect beyond the actual time needed for typing them in when it comes to late breads, less so for earlier ones (especially when Q posts), although daytime breads have seemed to be running around an hour and a half, sometimes moar. Speedier around the dinner hour.

If big booms start habbening, timing will change again. Hope we get to see that in action VERY SOON! We may get to find out the function of captchas at that point, we'll see how it all plays out.
