Army Anti-Terrorism Technology Helps Pinpoint COVID-19 Cases

 

The Joint Analytic Real-Time Virtual Information Sharing System, or JARVISS, is Army software that's designed to target criminal activity and provide natural disaster information in and around Army installations and stand-alone facilities, said Army Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, provost marshal general.

 

When a crisis hits, timing is everything. This is why accurate information is critical to a commander's situational awareness — especially when making decisions that affect not only the continuity of military operations, but also soldiers and their families, he said.

 

Allen compared JARVISS to GPS navigation apps, noting that those apps help users navigate highways and roadways in real time based on community-driven data. "That is exactly what JARVISS does," he said. "It gives you information to make decisions in real time."

 

For example, he said, if someone uses a GPS navigation app and there's traffic or a road closure ahead, the app says, "Hey, there's a delay ahead, but here's a different route to get you home." It knows this based on multiple information sources submitted by users within the area.

 

The GPS app then takes the information and translates it into actionable information to help the user make decisions. In essence, that's how JARVISS works. Except, instead of navigating the road ahead, it navigates possible threats against the Army.

Space debris from failed rocket misses New York City by minutes

 

A Chinese rocket has crashed down to Earth, missing New York by minutes.

 

The Long March-5B rocket, an unmanned prototype craft launched into space on 5 May, fell down and came around 13 minutes of hitting the city.

 

CNN reported that the rocket launched from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in the Hainan province in South China.

 

The rocket experienced a mysterious malfunction on its first flight, but nevertheless returned to China as planned.

 

The spacecraft, which had been in development for 10 years with the intention to carry large payloads into low-Earth orbit, was over 50 meters long and weighed 849 tons when it took off.

 

Usually when a rocket launches, the first stage provides the majority of the thrust to get the craft into orbital velocity before dropping into the ocean. A second stage then activates, pushing the rocket’s payload into orbit.

 

However, the rocket had difficulty breaking out of the Earth's atmosphere.

 

Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, told The Independent that: “Even in space there's a thin bit of atmosphere left. Objects in low orbit travel at 18000 mph, so even a tiny bit of air makes a huge headwind. This causes 'orbital decay' - the satellite's orbit gets lower and lower over time, into the denser atmosphere where the headwind is even bigger.

 

"Eventually it gets to the point where the heating from friction melts the metal and causes the object to break up and lose enough speed to crash towards Earth. For smaller satellites, they melt entirely and nothing reaches the ground.”

 

McDowell tweeted that it was the “most massive object to make an uncontrolled re-entry since the 39-tonne Salyut-7 in 1991”.

 

Tracking objects travelling at such high speed is challenging, and during the descent of the rocket it was predicted that the potential re-entry areas were near Australia, the US, and Africa.

Mea culpa, mea culpa in my ignorance, I was horribly wrong but Dershowitz, I have come to believe, is simply a devious SOB. And so, it would seem, is Barr.

He let the prosecution proceed unabated up until the DOJ was pressured to produce documents proving that they acted unlawfully. The documents the DOJ has been dragging its tail on / lying about having will REMAIN HIDDEN if the case closes prior to their production and entry into evidence.

The DOJ is seriously fucked up. Forget that 99% / 1% bullshit … the 1% are those few employees who are willing to buck the system in order to establish and defend justice for the American people … the 99% are, if not instigators of injustice and corruption, "Stepand Fetchits" who "go along to get along." They just want to limp along with their government paycheck, health insurance and (fairly generous) retirement plan. Any principled interest they might have once had disappeared the day their first child was born.

 

Sullivan is actually doing the right thing.

 

The DOJ is dropping this case to avoid complying with judicially correct orders for discovery. They didn't magically grow a moral spine when the fat guy with bagpipes showed up. They are hoping to 1) continue to evade releasing the requested material 2) leave a cloud over Flynn 3) cover for their own violations of law.

I don't know if this is the best Sidney Powell can get out of the mess, but the American people could be the big losers here.

By continuing the case instead of allowing the prosecution (DOJ) to drop it now, Sullivan is continuing the pressure on them to produce the materials that they have been stonewalling the court on for nearly three years. Sullivan is shining a spotlight on DOJ corruption and deserves our support.

Yep, I see that he invited a couple liberal groups to file briefs and I hope they take him up on it because if he accepts THEIR briefs, then he's bound to accept briefs from conservative sources if they are filed within the same time frame. The liberal groups are the ones most likely to pick up that gauntlet, this is true (your tax dollars at work against you, again), but in so doing SHOULD provoke a response from conservative sources.

 

The DOJ remains in contempt of the court. If the amicus briefs also make requests for discovery of (at a minimum) the same material, the DOJ will remain on the hook for those documents and under pressure from groups much better funded than Flynn is.

Sullivan is in a strange position. He's both the tip of the spear and the target in the open. Alan (but I kept my underwear on) Dershowitz hasn't changed … keep in mind what we already know of his character … and he isn't calling for impeachment in a quest for "Truth, Justice and the American Way" – he's calling for a cover-up. Barr's record is pretty dismal, too.

If we are EVER going to play "activist autists" in this movie, we'd better get our asses in gear while there is still time.

I contributed to Flynn's Go Fund Me, and I'm likely to contribute to one for Sullivan, too. Barr is, at the very best, bending to pressure from subordinates. But I am not convinced we should be giving him that much benefit of the doubt because the reasons for doubt continue to pile up.

Of course, violent criminals often plead down to shorten their prison sentences. Federal data released in 2018 revealed that more than 97 percent of federal convicts had taken plea deals rather than going to trial for more serious criminal charges.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and other top Obama officials received information in response to "unmasking" requests targeting retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn in the final weeks of the previous administration, according to a memo declassified by acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.

 

The list, obtained by the Washington Examiner on Wednesday, shows Biden received information at least once in response to such an unmasking request on Jan. 12, 2017, but it is not clear whether he made the request or even looked at the information. Biden is now the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee in the 2020 contest for the White House.

 

The newly declassified records show that 16 individuals made unmasking requests related to the incoming Trump national security adviser, and the list shows which officials received that sensitive information. It was not immediately clear which individuals made the requests, but those who received the unmasking information were laid out chronologically.

 

Former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former FBI Director James Comey are all on the list.

 

The information was unearthed earlier in May by Gen. Paul Nakasone of the National Security Agency in response to a request from Grenell. The details were released by the top spy chief following requests by Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

 

Republicans have alleged since 2017 that Obama-era officials improperly unmasked associates of then-candidate Donald Trump’s presidential campaign during the Russia investigation. Democrats have defended the intelligence-gathering process, arguing that the collection of identifying information is inevitable.

 

Unmasking occurs when U.S. intelligence agencies eavesdropping on foreigners sweep up communications with U.S. citizens in what is known as incidental collection. When the intelligence reporting is shared across the government, names of U.S. citizens are typically concealed or masked to protect their identities. The names can be unmasked, however, if U.S. officials make the request.

While the actual article does not identify what measures are being taken, it does warn that China won't just strike back symbolically, but impose countermeasures that could make them feel the pain.

 

The bottom line is that as the Trump Administration makes China central to the re-election campaign, Beijing won't just "stand there" and take it, which means that any incremental push by either said will be met - for the first time since the trade war which concluded with a tentative truce in January - with more than just jawboning, and once words turn to deeds, it will be very difficult to de-escalate before the November 3 election.

21st Space Wing Commander Found Dead In His Home

 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – The commander of the 21st Space Wing, headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, has died. Colonel Thomas G. Falzarano was found at his home on Tuesday.

 

Col. Falzarano appears to have died of natural causes, though a thorough investigation is happening. There are no indications that there was a positive COVID-19 case.
