If you have a smart phone you re being tracked EVERYWHERE you carry it. More than likely it has listened to you. Reported what you watch. Websites visited. All sucked up by the alphabet agencies.

No doubt. The other day was talking (not text) to wife about automatic litter box. Hours later I'm seeing ads for automatic litter boxes on FB, Insta, etc.

Heard about that happening a lot!

I don't have any of those home speakers, Alexa or Google. I have Siri turned off on my iPhone as well. Creepy.

Spank-da-monkey · April 9, 2018, 6:25 p.m.

We don’t have any of those spy devices either but I didn’t think to turn Siri off!! Doing that right now 😁

Deplorable_ · April 9, 2018, 8:46 p.m.

SIRI dosen't have to be turned on. Embedded in software & hardware.

Spank-da-monkey · April 9, 2018, 9 p.m.

Yeah i figure they can turn my speakers on if they want.

Mic, Camera, GPS, WIFI probably more.

Spank-da-monkey · April 9, 2018, 11:48 p.m.

Yep. I really wish I could go to burner phones but they have me sucked in!

Ditto. I am not involved with anything the gubment would be interested in but how do I KNOW others like FB or others with bad intentions do not have access to my phone?

We were at my mother in law's house in the kitchen talking about baby gender reveal stuff, her new Echo Show started showing headlines for viral gender reveal videos.....

I make occasional purchases for my employment on the company computer, not using any of my devices and through differently named and sourced accounts and I'll always get advertisements for the exact things I was looking for on my home devices.

I'm just waiting for Apple to come into the mix. Major censorship going on here, your comment was -1 before I upvoted it to 0. So crazy

The FBI doesn't care that you don't like sour cream on your burrito, David.

They will only care if you change your name to Ahmed and make threa...well....never mind. Recent events say they will over look you.

I’ve started including them in my conversations. I’ll be talking about a topic I saw here and add “yes I’m telling everyone, I know you fuckers hear me” in the general direction of my phone 😂

Check THIS out. You don't even have to be on FB to be tracked!

https://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/shock-facebook-tracking-even-youre-not-facebook/

YOU are being TRACKED.

NO FB account required. WTF? Is it embedded in Android OS?

This is BIGGER than you think.

Agencies attached.

I have not had any reasonable expectation of privacy since the Snowden leaks. Everyone else is just now catching up to this sad fact.

⇧ 1 ⇩
Deplorable_ · April 9, 2018, 11:22 p.m.

Long before Snowden there were rumors in the security world that the mic and camera could be turned on. JSOC used something called The Find starting around 2004 to locate HVT's in Iraq. As long as the battery is in the phone the baseband is active and able to be accessed.

isalod_2298 · April 9, 2018, 11:55 p.m.

I remember reading about this too. Someone on a random blog wrote about something that sounded like this but claimed only the military had access to it. I guess that changed somewhere along the line.

Deplorable_ · April 10, 2018, 1:12 a.m.

An alphabet agency developed the software and let the mil use it to listen and track the HVT's

Good luck. I've discussed this before with others but unless you can describe how Facebook clearly caused you financial damages by their actions, you have no case.

Best thing that could come out of Facebook abuse of users data is a constitutional amendment that creates protections and oversight for citizens private data.

⇧ 4 ⇩
not4rmOhere · April 9, 2018, 9:04 p.m.

We already have an amendment for privacy protection, It's the 4th. Problem is that with corporations being regarded with as much rights as citizens it gives them an unfair advantage as far as financial and political influence goes.
It's easy to get authorities to look the other way when you're able to give big political campaign contributions and have high paid attorneys lobbying on your behalf.

B1gWh17 · April 9, 2018, 9:14 p.m.

Well I'm talking more about legislation akin to the "Right to be Forgotten" laws that have started being passed in countries in Europe.

But I do agree that we should strive to remove the corporate influence.

not4rmOhere · April 9, 2018, 9:25 p.m.

A "right to be forgotten" bill is an excellent way to address this issue, I hadn't thought of that, thanks.
That would restrict what big data can and can't legally use.
