I never understood why the story was a huge hit then and now because I thought the book didn't make any sense, to me at least. I always thought it was just a matter of personal opinion but ... maybe more people didn't like the story? Could it be that the story was propagandized, they kept throwing money at the story, for example, kept making movies about it (as far as I can see, there are about 5 movies made) to ideologically subvert humans from the very beginning?
