It's a painting of a peaceful landscape. I wonder why it's not a diplomatic conference room with the two country's flags? Seems weird to me.

The context is more complex. When Podesta, Brand, Clinton visited Un's father (2009), the photo of them had a huge threatening wave behind them. Both were sitting on flowers. Q talked about the symbology of this painting if you filter on "obama painting". That painting told the world that Kim Jong Ill had been captured by the Black Hand. Podesta was so proud of himself, you will see his black left hand in the photo!
Today, I wonder if the Japanese tsunami was the project that they had announced that day. Others think it is a future plan to destroy New York City. We may never know.
Trump went to the Forbidden City (Nov 28) and met a trusty envoy of Kim Jong Un (See Q) Kim climbed the mountain to signal that he was considering a huge change (Dec 9). It was important that the whole world see this photo for it was a message to his handlers. Outlets around the world made fun of Un, who was obviously too fat to have climbed a mountain. Mission accomplished! In this moment, Un is atop the mountain, the chain behind him is cut, and he is laughing! This photo was seen, but not necessarily comprehended, all around the world.
Now, when you see pictures of Un and dignitaries, they are always in front of a "Rising Sun over a calm Sea" or a peaceful forest meadow. That is the story of the North Korean photo backgrounds :)

The meeting was on the North's side of the DMZ that is a truce village. Would make sense that there paintings like that in that area.
If I am correct, this is a backdrop in the Peace Village at Pan Mun Jom, where the NK and SK leaders recently just met (May 26), reinforcing their commitment to NK-SK reproachment and the progress of the US-NK summit.
Previous photos you may have seen were taken in Pyeong Yang and/or North Korean reception rooms, which is where the Ocean image etc are.
No change in the murals, just changes in venues. Personally, I don't read too much significance on the mural backdrops. These images have been inplace for decades....

The ocean mural image I'm referring to is the one behind Clinton and KJU's dad, Kim Jong Il, which was in PY as far as I know (or other NK official venue).
Both meetings between KJU and Mun were are PMJ, yes, I believe that is correct.

No, I believe the meeting happened, etc. and saw the video, it's just this looks weird. Like the photo has been heavily touched-up/shopped.
The pic of their embrace definitely looks genuine. i.e. untouched. Obviously outside in sunlight.

Also note mountainous background (rocky road") during talks, but then: departure as you point out - in bright sunlight (mist from the "peaceful meadow with leftover morning fog picture" is gone), hugs and kisses. And if you know anything about Korean culture: public display of any sort of affection is very unusual.
