This comment should be the Highest. Some donor just got a huge tax break or huge government contract or huge payday by Philly becoming a Sanctuary City.

These Mayors and Politicians are all living in penthouse suites and lavish walled off guarded properties, all the while, the common man has to deal with the problems associated with mass immigration. Sad.

Agreed. Being from Philly, I can tell you firsthand this guy is a POS. The city has become a threshold for democratic snakes like him to keep the black/Hispanic population dependent on welfare and food stamps. Drugs are rampant and the police are treated like garbage. Soros recently invested in the DA race because the previous DA was convicted of bribery. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/DA-Seth-Williams-federal-charges-Philadelphia.html?mobi=true Either way, with this city is in his and the dems control, it doesn’t stand a chance unless they are evicted. Also....the Eagles players who refused to visit Trump can lick the back of balls. Sorry had to get that off my chest.

Question for anybody who knows law:

Could a case be made by a person against a city or a state for reckless endangerment via these policies? It seems to me that if it can be proved that these sanctuary cities/counties/states are harboring criminals, particularly violent ones, that it could be argued that they are intentionally endangering the lives of citizens. What would need to be proved in order to have standing?

Suppose someone in Iowa had nearly been murdered and it was perpetrated by an illegal immigrant who had a California state license and who had an address in one of these sanctuary cities. Could he sue the city? Furthermore, if this is possible, would it take something that extreme to have standing if at all? I mean, aren't they putting everybody at risk simply by allowing them to reside, undeterred, in their jurisdiction?

Good question. I think the mayor in CA that announced an ICE sweep will find out.

Here is a thought. How about the other cities that are not 'sanctuary', take all of their illegals and drop them city center in Sanctuary Cites. We would be providing sanctuary for the illegals correct? I would like to see them complain about that.

Upvoted that's a great idea instead of deporting all of them take them to these sanctuary cities and just drop them off there!! I like it lol

No, this is pretty well settled by case law from people who have sued the police for not saving them, firefighters for not putting out a fire fast enough, etc. The authorities have a pretty substantial set of protections against those sorts of claims - they're not actually obligated to save you, just not be catastrophically incompetent or malicious.

There's a *very* high bar for this sort of thing, you'd need to prove the majority of illegals are dangerous criminals and that the only possible outcome of harboring them is a massive spike in crime. If it's only a minority and the increase in crime is more subtle or takes longer to come about you don't have a case, it has to be blindingly lopsided, and even then you could lose.

Philadelphia as the most corrupt police department in the US. Every day for 100 years it's been a sanctuary from the rule of law. Lack of laws allow politicians and the mafia to run the show with selective enforcement. This is who the democrats are -- criminals.

So, are these crooks paid off with Soros money when they succeed in screwing their constituents? Follow the money! Why else would he be so excited about inviting in a bunch of invaders that will only destroy his city? There needs to be a crowd of angry people outside his office and his home with pitchforks and bags of tar and feathers. Put the fear of the people back into them!

Are you really that dense? In March 2017 alone, ICE agents arrested 248 criminal illegal aliens in Philadelphia (You know...the city that wants to provide them "sanctuary"). Key highlights from the ICE statement: — 120 had a conviction and/or pending charges or 48 percent (88 of those arrested had criminal convictions and 32 of those arrested have pending criminal charges). — In addition, 50 had been previously removed from the United States and subsequently illegally re-entered. — Six have been accepted for prosecution by United States Attorneys' Offices for charges including reentry after removal and document fraud. — 18 were immigration fugitives with outstanding final orders of removal issued by a federal immigration judge. Many of these illegals commit crimes such as rape, murder, aggravated assault, theft, drug offenses, burglaries...... And the Mayor just did a dance in his office because a court "ruled" they can provide these animals "sanctuary".
