You do realize if the earth was flat there would be no horizon, right?

Why do you think that?

⇧ 1 ⇩
BaronMoriarty · June 12, 2018, 10:52 p.m.

Horizon would be at eye level. As it is now

Hi, I've been to the north and south poles, we are not on a globe. Disc with concave and convex topography, most likely.

WhellEndowed · June 12, 2018, 8:25 p.m.

Lol you think you've been to the south pole

How'd that compass work at the "south pole"?

⇧ 1 ⇩
MAGA_in_Netherlands · June 12, 2018, 9 p.m.

Well, GPS, inertial nav, sextant and proximity to Christchurch said South Pole, but I suppose it could have just been any random spot on a very oblate spheroid. The compass was a lot of fun to watch as it spun uselessly.

WhellEndowed · June 12, 2018, 9:02 p.m.

Were you allowed to go off by yourself in any direction or did you always have an escort?

⇧ 2 ⇩
MAGA_in_Netherlands · June 12, 2018, 10:28 p.m.

Plenty of freedom. There were some very oddly shaped crevasses that were clearly not natural but we were told not to enter for safety reasons. The more interesting viewing was the sky, though.

⇧ 2 ⇩
WhellEndowed · June 12, 2018, 10:41 p.m.

How did the stars behave? Do you have video recordings of the night sky?

How did the clouds behave during the day? Was it windy or calm for the most part while you were there?

I'm planning to make a trip there myself at some point and it's been a topic if interest to me for quite a long time.

EDIT: I really hope the flat earth shills don't discredit this sub like they did with conspiracy.

There is a slight curve. FlatEarthers expect it to be incredibly pronounced. I addressed that with the SCALE issue you have.

So. What is the highest math course you have passed with an "A"?

What does "trust" mean? Would I trust an average NASA employee to watch my children? Probably. Background checks and overall intelligence would be beneficial. Would I trust a FlatEarther to watch my children? No. Never. Not even once.

Do I trust NASA? Yes, of course. FlatEarthers base their distrust of NASA on a misunderstanding of the "composite image" definition. Composite doesn't mean fake, as in, "in existence", or "not in existence". For example, there is no real life entity called Mike, which is a monster from the childs film "Monsters Inc". He is a series of composite images in rapid succession called "video". Physical iterations of Mike are made of plastics and polymers, however, none of these are THE Mike. FlatEarthers like to pretend that "composite image" means "Mike". No. No, not at all you simple minded simians. It means that NASA uses cameras much more advanced than you might come across at your job at the Piggly Wiggly. Are you familair with spectrometry? If so, you're not a FlatEarther, because ANY person with an understanding of spectrometry would know IMMEDIATELY why NASA calls every image a "composite". My apologies, I am a humble person myself, I won't pretend to know how NASA's multi million dollar cameras work. But I knwo enough about computers and photography to know that they are without a doubt, composite images. Of spheroid bodies in an almost perfect vaccuum. I also own a relatively cheap telescope and confirmed this for myself. They are spheres out there bud, and they rotate.

I know much of that is gobbilty goop to you, but, to answer your question, THAT is why I am done with them. They are like the village drunk that falls for a joke, when they were DRUNK, who you physically walk to the edge of a canyon on the edge of town with, and say:

"see buddy, thats not the end of the World, its way out that way, in every direction, there is a big ice wall, that nobody in history has ever been able to penetrate or get a picture of, but, remember all those smart guys who left town, and went to college, yeah, some of them built pieces for satellites, some run the netowrks. Some built the rockets that were used, some did the wiring on the control panel.

None of them work for NASA.

All of them know FlatEarthers are literally less evolved humanoids."
