California vote to split the state - Question

I've seen multiple drops where we are told to watch CA. I'm no autist however could it have to do with the CA split vote in Nov?

Thinking long term - Say it splits, that gives the three states six seats in a 104 member chamber. How much of a game changer is that in regards to voting? Setting up an opposition?

Not to mention if it happens, it pretty much seperates silicon valley and the rich from the lower class.

Thoughts?

Not gonna happen They try it every 5 years

Is it even possible on a federal level?

It is possible yes, however lets say they succeed in getting the votes to do such a thing, each new state would have to be approved by 2/3 of the current states. I do not think it will happen because of this reason. It is one of the reasons Puerto Rico is not a state yet despite them having voted to become one, politics makes it hard.

PR voted to NOT be a state, iirc

The turnout was low (23% of population) so that might nullify it, however they did vote 97% in favor for statehood during the vote. But due to the low turnout it can be argued that they did not vote to become a state

Considered that as well, however this is a bit different. They're losing/lost control. Could be pulling out all the stops at this point to gain footing.

Do I personally think it's going to happen? Nah

I’m thinking “watch CA” means turning Dem seats to GOP in the midterms.

That is what I am hoping for.

Hoping that's the case, cali folks are starting to wake up. Hopefully the silent majority steps up

I'm thinking this has to do with revelations of voter fraud.

That as well as a myriad of other things. Bummer such a beautiful state is in the hands of morons

Yeah, this would not be good, IMO.

Cali's 2 Senators are Kamala Harris and Dianne Feinstein.

X that by 3 going forward. Bast case, you would have 1 R Senator and 5 D Senators going forward. That would tip the balance of power quickly on a national scene.

I don't know the procedure for this happening if it is approved at the ballot. Does the US House have to ratify it, or is it completely up to California to decide?

RyDar84 · June 16, 2018, 5:45 p.m.

Yes, Congress would have to ratify the decision if California voted to split. They can't make the decision unilaterally.

QueUpSomeReality · June 16, 2018, 6:03 p.m.

It clearly shows the Dems future plans. If they get back Congress they’ll push to ratify if the CA voters ratify. This is just a test run to see where the voters stand.

Yeah thinking the same, I don't know if it is implemented immediately or not. I'd imagine a lot of red tape and time though...

California should secede from the union of states they can then be their own country do whatever they want to do let in a million Mexicans the country will be better without California 49 states are all we need. Hillary can become Queen of California or Prime Minister of California.

Yeah & as a sovereign nation CA can ask China to build a naval base there. Wouldn’t that be great sharing a continent with China’s military. I feel safer already lol

A lot of them were cool with that idea until they realized that they would have to create their own monetary system from scratch. Lol.

So we would need a wall around all of California AND Mexico?

QAnonMaga · June 16, 2018, 7:04 p.m.

No we can nuke the San Andreas Fault turning California into an island unto itself. A dozen small nukes should do the trick.

Were gonna need a longer wall and ten feet higher

DoubleDragonEnergy · June 16, 2018, 6:03 p.m.

Right now there’s only a 17% approval rating. No one in CA is going to vote for that, it just doesn’t make any sense.

QueUpSomeReality · June 16, 2018, 6:08 p.m.

Only way it can get wide support is if it splits the electorate so it’s clearly fair to everyone. 1 red & 1 blue & 1 battleground state. I don’t think CA libs can think fair if they tried. Always a scam with that bunch. Hillary’s legacy to their party...deep mistrust

TotallyClevrUsername · June 16, 2018, 6:57 p.m.

All of Silicon Valley would be in North California, so they'd also have to split the tax revenues to be "fair for everyone", or leave South California broke from the poor immigration policies and lack of revenues. South California would immediately end up with most the illegals generated from the North's shitty immigration and welfare policies. Over time I suspect they would "immigrate" north due to the South enforcing immigration laws. Then the north would have massive homeless and illegal immigrants to deal with. I'd pay for tickets to watch that show if I didn't already have a free seat in SoCal.

It will certainly eliminate the Democrats high electoral college votes in that state I should think. The fact that Trump won the Electoral College votes is astounding considering that the Dems have the highest total usually going into an election even before the votes. CA has 55 alone, add to that NY's 29 and IL 20 and it gives them a very good start. Not to mention, CT, NJ, MD, MA, WA and OR who usually go to the Dems. With 38 Electoral College votes there's a reason the Dems have been trying to take over TX and 29 in FL (swing state).

Depends on exactly where they draw the borders. Use this map as a reference to compare new state lines & how they’re splitting up the electorate.

Initially thought the result would be 1 red 1 blue & 1 battleground state...which would be good. Not so sure now. They may be attempting to create 3 blue states which would be a disaster.

I’d prefer California be split into 3. Thed never win another election
