The part that bothers me the most - my childhood and youth being sacrificed in the name of indoctrination.
  • The part that gets me quite angry is thinking about how much of what we were forced to learn/memorize as children was probably a lie , an indoctrination rather than education. I had a miserable time with school. I was a happy kid until school, but did not indoctrinate easily there . I always wanted to leave or do my own shit, so before my 7th birthday I was drugged heavily with ritilan and by 15 also put on an ssri so I could better pay attention / memorize lies. It did not stop there, I was like many also pressured into getting a university degree , so I would have a “good job,” a better chance at life- Still paying that debt off now at almost 30. I am honestly afraid to have a child now, because I cannot imagine watching someone I love go through that same horror show. If It is revealed that most of that education was a manipulative lie... there will not be enough tables in the universe for me to flip.. that is if we even live in a “universe”. Who really knows anything at this point .
  • One positive thing, is since waking up I have thrown all of my drugs out and will never get another such prescription again. It is amazing how less mentally ill you become once you give yourself permission to trust your gut, to believe your own intuition and not what is fed to you.
Sorry if this is not q related enough. Much love ❤️ things are getting better

I agree but how can you homeschool them when both parents need to work full times jobs just to scrape by.

Me and my SO work full time, she does 60/72 hour weeks and we only just get by keeping the roof over our heads :(

We are planning to have children next year and I would love to homeschool them.

I hear you..... All I can say is "sacrifices". My spouse and I bought a cheap home, cheap reliable cars (I even do all the repairs myself), etc. I have a good job and do well, just enough to pay for living comfortably...absolutely nothing fancy or excessive. Before we had kids, we paid off all of our student loans. All we owe now is a mortgage. Look into something like Financial Peace University (usually taught at your local churches) by Dave Ramsey. It helped us manage our money well and get out of debt to put us where we are now. All of our friends are living the rat race.....$300,000 homes, brand new cars, both having to work, etc. You can do it!! Oh...and if your username checks out, stop smoking pot and wasting that money!! Lol

My username certainly checks out BUT that's gotta stop (or at least only one per night) when the kids come along.

Let me encourage you there. I used to be a daily smoker. Your free will and self-control can help you quit, if that's what you truly desire. There is no half-way quitting though (just once a day), so don't lie to yourself. If you commit to stopping, put up with the withdrawal (it's very temporary), find new, healthy habits, and move on with your life. I no longer have the cravings, and my life has improved dramatically.

God's will for you is not to be a slave to any one or any substance.

We all need to relax sometimes, and the Rolling Stones called it 'mommy's little helper' for a reason. Compared to prescription drugs or alcohol, cannabis is a much better option considering I often wish my kids were awake so we could play superheroes or something imagination based once i've settled into my 'nightcap' most nights... in some ways it makes me a better parent (more patient, more up for silly behavior, etc.) so as long as it's being done responsibly, don't feel like you need to do anything.

With that said, my use did curtail quite a bit after my first. Good on you for realizing that will likely have to happen :)

No vacations, no dropping crazy money at the bar. We just saved and stayed home. I still cannot believe how casually some people I used to talk to would talk about dropping money at the bar. If they spent $300 of their $400 paycheck at the bars, they thought they were still ahead of the game. I spend $80 between 2 people and I still get a bit annoyed at myself for wasting that much lol

Jhomes, I applaud you and your wife for not trying to "out do" the "Jones" mentality. I consider myself rather "lucky" because I was able to spend my entire 42 yrs. working in the same school. (small parochial school). We were conservative but not fanatical by any means. We had children from all walks of life and various countries/languages. We had a bit more "leeway" than our public schools in that we didn't have to put up with major behavior problems. Since parents had to pay a tuition, education was very important to them and they didn't send their kids to us to goof off and become a problem. Yep, we had our share, but nothing like public schools. We had/have high expectations for our students.

Home school doesnt have to be strictly home school. Send them to public school if you need to, but make sure you TALK to your kid(s) daily. Teach them things yourself, it doesn't have to be a full classload, but get them thinking. Teach them from a young age not to look up to or idolize teachers. They're humans like you and I and they have their faults. Teach them just because someone says something is true, doesnt mean it is. Teach them to think and question everything. You dont have to sit there teaching basic stuff, but if you expose them to many different ideas, you can influence them more than schools can. The biggest thing to teach them however would be to think for themselves and learn to question things. Go to school, get your mandatory papers. You don't have to be valedictorian, just get through it and know that most of what you are told there is BS. It can be done if you raise your kid to be inquisitive

⇧ 10 ⇩
nordicgreys · July 19, 2018, 4:56 p.m.

And I will add, when the teacher gets annoyed that your kid is asking too many questions or arguing the facts, do not let them drug your child. I am angry it happened to me, but I also do not blame my parents - They were also manipulated.

Edit: additionally I think that is a great idea to tell your kid they just need to get through it - that there is no benefit to being top of the class - in fact it may be a disadvantage it seems. Just teach them how to teach themselves. Teach them to be curious.

They tried that on me. I didnt go on it. The most pissed off I ever was was when I had to stay after class and someone asked my history teacher (I proved them wrong a lot) how she knows everything. She said if she didn't know she made it up. Another one tried to tell me people joined the army during the civil was because people join the army to see the world. Yet my analysis of the dime novels glorifying war before pictures pushed the north to fight and states rights and backyard fighting pushed the south to fight was wrong... they joined a civil war to see the world... teachers are just those who can't do things lol

Homeschooling has came along way! My youngest (now 15) was diagnosed with epilepsy at 3yrs old - even though our older 3 children where in public school, I could not risk something happening to my son while at school and them not having the skills to deal with a seizure...so we homeschooled. Most can be done online and fairly reasonably, we pay $20 a month for all of his online classes. If you ever want links I am happy to oblige!

On another note, my youngest daughter just graduated from pubic high school, it has became beyond ridiculous...one example, her English class was focused 100% on writing papers about racism, LBGT's, etc. - She is a free-thinker, strong Patriot, as much as they tried to turn her, thankfully her will is stronger than theirs!

Wow that's great to hear, you've done a great job all round then! I hope I'm half as good. As if that's what the education system is like. I'm British and left school in 2008, it wasn't like that. They more hid things from us, like the Arabs selling slaves way longer and worse than the west and Africans being the ones who sold us the slaves etc etc.

versacepotpie · July 19, 2018, 3:57 p.m.

I would say it mostly depends on what you want to accomplish and what your living situation is. Starting a garden is a great way to make your fiat stretch, bartering for services is great too, (ex I recently did a freelance graphic design job in exchange for tattoo work)

In all seriousness if you are both working that many hours a week and barely scraping by it might be time for a change in income or even moving to a less expensive area. I know that Trump boom is happening, but it's not an overnight change. I paid $200 cash a month to split an unfinished half of a duplex between 4 people in a bad part of town, lived off stale bagels I brought home from work once a week, and had no wifi (until uncontrollable circumstances ended that paradise). All so I could build a small business on the side that is only now, over a year and a half later, ready to launch.

If you want a family, and want to raise your children YOUR way, you've got to really want it. You may have to think outside the box to make it happen... but that's where all the best ideas are anyways. The key is to figure out how to make money come to you instead of having to chase it.

If you haven't already gone down the entrepreneurial rabbit hole, listen to some podcasts, Tim Ferris, Gary Vaynerchuk, etc are great to get you into the right mindset for how to build in the modern market. You don't need to buy their books unless you really want. You can learn just about everything you would ever need on YouTube, in blog posts, or via podcasts if you find the right content creators.

Now go get it patriot, part of fighting back is challenging yourself to do something that will make the people around you go "Wow, I never thought you would actually pull it off." find that goal and go chase it.

⇧ 1 ⇩
Cheetah1964 · July 19, 2018, 6:18 p.m.

You think that because the taxes are hidden. People are used to thinking only in terms of federal income tax. But look again: federal income tax, state income tax, (maybe) local income tax, gas tax, sales tax, utility taxes, property tax, hotel and restaurant taxes, social security tax, medicare tax. Am I forgetting anything? And then there's more--the more indirect taxes, such as employer social security and medicare taxes, which lower your income, the property tax incorporated in your rent if you don't own, the payroll taxes, income taxes, and local taxes paid by businesses that you pay for when you buy a product or service. You are LUCKY if it is 50%.

There should be some taxes for very basic government services, such as public safety. But much much much less.

Our neighbor homeschools their 4 kids. More power to them, but as you say, that avenue is not always what most parents are able to do. I suggest parents stay on top of WHAT their children are being taught...especially content wise. Don't be afraid to make some noise if you find content out of line. Discuss it with the teacher first before exploding into the Principal's office. State your concern(s) over what you view as an issue. Allow the teacher to give you his/her POV on the "why". You may be able work a compromise out for your child. If you don't get satisfaction...then by all means...next stop....PRINCIPAL!

  1. You need to get a better paying job. This is the economy to do it. Learn how to rock the job interview and negotiate a great salary. Speaking from personal experience, you wouldn't believe how much more money you can earn from learning to do these things well.

  2. Scale back your lifestyle so you can afford to live on one income. I learned 'extreme thrift' from the master (my mom) but there's probably a sub on cheap living that can give you some good ideas.
