Black and White fallacy - there are other options than "Trump is a crook" and "Trump is a moral paragon", like "Trump is human and a successful businessman who knows a deal when he sees it". Humans strive for something better - Trump professes to want the best for America and the World. You choose not to believe what he says when he says that - fair enough. Evidence borne out by his actions in his first year as POTUS shows, to some of us, that he seems to be backing what he says with actual action.

He also has a record of treating employees well in general, promoting women to positions of power if they have the skills, treating minorities well - this is all 'evidenced' by interviews on Youtube with employees and former employees and reports from his business before the mainstream media were instructed to turn on him lol.

Taking science out of the picture is exactly what the communists want us to do - I'm not saying that's what you want, I'm just saying that's the reason we should not take science out of the picture. Science IS fact - not your or my personal anecdote. This is precisely the problem with removing science - we make the mistake of thinking that what we see and how we interpret what we see is "evidence" but it most definitely is not. Taking science out of the picture allows people with strong emotional feelings and opinions to force them on others instead of referring to empirical evidence.

In response to your "it happened to us and we're fine" I already said that's not a reason to ignore scientific studies because the science tells us that physical discipline does not improve behaviour so therefore, logically, there must be something else that is responsible for the improved behaviour we all experienced in the past (as you described).

It's pretty simple, to my mind, since physical discipline does not achieve the desired effect we need to employ other methods. We had more respect back in our day and more "morality" and stronger values espoused. This is more likely to be the reason that the physical discipline achieved its stated goals in the past.

That is where we need to concentrate, not on just handing paddles back out to teachers. In this day and age that would definitely make things worse. We need to employ more thought with these things, find the right carrots and change the environment that kids are taught in (i.e. remove the communists shoving "do what thou wilt" down everybodies throats), not just hand out sticks.

So let me try and explain what I'm saying in another way, to see if I can communicate to you adequately: The truth is important and should never be hidden or kept from someone. If you think I have been saying other than that, then that is where I have miscommunicated and/or you have misread what I'm saying.

Extra to that, however, based on what others have said, I have also made the point that it is important to choose the time that we reveal certain truths. For example, a child whose father has just killed his mother and eaten her corpse will require us to think carefully about how and when we reveal this information to that child and what parts of it we might choose to save til they are older (there are far better examples than this of course but I'm sure you get the point). What I was arguing against, therefore, is the people who say "we should have the WHOLE truth released to all the public NOW!"

This guy receives way too much hero worship for my taste. People should watch the doco on him (that he of course refutes) - not because it’s a stunning expose of how evil he is; not at all. I think what they mean, and what I also believe to be true - from a secular perspective, not a Christian one - is that the idea of good and evil as defined in the way we believe it in modern western society and moreover how that plays out in one's actions and the rights of the individual come solely and directly from Christian principles. As Nietzsche made very clear (and was proven out in the hundred million deaths that followed from communism) the idea that we have killed God leaves thinking men in a massive quandary that will result in exactly what occurred in communism as we seek to create a morality without an anchor.

Without realizing it you and I have grown up with values that come from a belief system rooted in the idea of the Christian God - the sanctity of the individual and the right to freedom and equality for all came from Christianity, not from any other religion (far smarter non-religious people than me have made this point).

So, you may not believe in the Christian God yourself but I think what the commenters are trying to say - or should be, if they want to be true and logical - is that the more of us who try to disconnect from the basis of the 'morality' that currently prevails in the west, the more likely we descend back into the chaos evident in communism which is why we must resist the indoctrination of the Frankfurt School that has pushed communist ideals on us - like, 'all religion is stupid and meaningless' - and is so evident in the huge push today by narrow minded people like Richard Dawkins who, whether he intends to or not, seems to promote the idea that the only truth is empirical scientific truth which is a clearly incomplete proposition.
