Activists Find More E-Vote Flaws, By Kim Zetter, 9/22/04, important discussion of the risks, and procedures that can mitigate them.

–Diebold's 2-page rebuttal concedes that Bev Harris’ description of GEMS is correct, but says that “Any attempt to hack, edit or otherwise tamper with the election results will introduce obvious, well-defined inconsistencies into the system that will be detected by election administrators because the results are ultimately verifiable and auditable via standard operating procedures.”

–Diebold’s 7-page rebuttal concedes, “…it’s possible to modify the database in this way, but … the real issue is whether it’s possible to do so undetectably….”

–No tampering can be detected unless election administrators are aware of the security flaws described below and perform the verifying procedures listed below under section 16. Make sure your county and state election administrators are notified, and that multi-partisan observers help by being present and watching.

1. What is Diebold GEMS Central Tabulator Software?

Diebold GEMS central tabulator software is used to count votes reported by individual precincts and to publish the tallies. The software is used in as many as 30 states, in 1,000 locations. Each system counts up to two million votes at a time.1

2. How GEMS is Used

Whether you vote absentee, on touch-screens, or on paper ballots with optical scan machines, the vote tallies from each precinct are ultimately brought to the GEMS central tabulator at the county level. Each precinct sends in one number for each candidate, representing how many votes the candidate received from the voters in that precinct. GEMS totals these precinct vote tallies and creates a report of the vote tallies for the whole county.

3. Two Copies of the Vote Database

GEMS stores all the precinct vote tallies in a "vote database" that is compatible with databases used by Microsoft Access. A database is a file of information that can be used to calculate totals and can be formatted for printing.

Proper accounting procedures, whether manual or on a computer, typically allow only one copy of each set of data (database) to be kept –not multiple versions. This ensures that when you look something up, you always get the right copy of the information because there is only one copy. In accounting, dual sets of books are prohibited because dual sets of books can enable errors and fraud to go undetected, especially if people do not know that there are two sets.

However, GEMS makes three copies of the vote database. Black Box Voting does not know the use of the third copy.

Election officials often do not know that there are multiple copies of the vote database, because this is not mentioned in GEMS documentation, and officials see only the reports that GEMS produces:

"Statement of Votes Cast" (total votes per candidate from each precinct)

"Election Summary" (total votes per candidate for all precincts in the county)

4. Separate Uses for Two Copies of the Vote Database'

GEMS uses the first copy of the vote database to print the Statement of Votes Cast, which is used to spot check that the correct numbers were reported by the precincts and entered into GEMS.

GEMS uses the second copy of the vote database to add up the totals for the county and print the Election Summary.

In software design, the use of two databases to contain the same numbers is considered error-prone because of the possibility that the two databases will end up containing different numbers. In fact, this can easily occur with GEMS.

5. How to Change One of the Vote Databases But Not the Other

GEMS' second vote database can be viewed and changed by a procedure that takes less than a minute:

a) Each line in the vote database contains the name of one candidate and a separate number for each precinct in the leftmost columns. (A line in a database is sometimes called a "row".)

b) When GEMS begins, the two copies of the vote database are "linked" to each other so that as the precinct numbers are entered, each copy receives the same exact numbers.

c) The vote databases have a column called "Dirty" that few people notice because it is not mentioned in the documentation and you have to scroll all the way over to the rightmost column of the database to view it. If you gain access to the database and change the code in this column from 0 to -1 for one row, you have unlinked (or decoupled) that row in the two copies of the vote database. After that, you can alter that row in the second copy, but your changes will not automatically be made in the corresponding row in the first copy.

This is a simple, elegant design which allows the two copies of the vote database to contain different numbers.

Unless you know about the multiple copies of the vote database and inspect them, you will not see the changed numbers. The numbers in the first copy will pass a spot check even with paper ballots but the county totals printed in the Election Summary ARE ALWAYS derived from the numbers in the second copy, which could be different.

The use of these two copies of the vote database appeared in GEMS on October 13, 2000, in GEMS version 1.17.7.

6. GEMS is Not Secured by Passwords

GEMS is supposed to be secured by passwords and audit logs. However, GEMS passwords can be bypassed, and the audit logs can be altered and erased. Because of this combination of features, the votes can be changed without anyone finding out, including the officials who run the election.

Black Box Voting's warning about GEMS' vulnerability to undetectable fraud was also voiced by the RABA Trusted Agent Report of Jan. 20, 2004, commissioned by the Department of Legislative Services of the State of Maryland, http://www.raba.com/press/TA_Report_AccuVote.pdf On page 21, after discussing several ways that the GEMS Server can be accessed, the RABA report states:

"Given either physical or remote access … it is possible to modify the GEMS database. Because both the database password and audit logs are stored within the database itself, it is possible to modify the contents without detection. Furthermore, system auditing is not configured to detect access to the database."

7. How to View and Change the Vote Database

(1) Use of Microsoft Access. GEMS' vote database is compatible with Microsoft Access. This compatibility means that you can use Access to view the vote database on the computer screen and modify it.

An Access database that is not passworded can be opened by double-clicking on the vote file. This has been observed in GEMS 1.18.19.

To prevent people from using Access to change the vote database, some locations have deleted Access from their GEMS computer. This approach leaves the two copies of the vote database intact, but requires a different method to view and modify the second copy.

(2) Use of Visual Basic Script. Visual Basic Script is a simple programming language that can modify an Access database. You can use a text editor like Notepad to type a six-line program in Visual Basic Script, and your program can change the vote database.

8. If Internet or Modem Connections are used, GEMS Cannot Be Secured by Limiting Who Can Enter the Computer Room

Some locations have tried to protect the vote database by limiting who can physically enter the GEMS tabulator room, and requiring a password to turn on the GEMS computer. However, these two security measures do not solve the problem if the internet or modems are used.

(3) Internet. The GEMS computer is called "stand alone" if it is not connected to the internet, and most counties say they do not connect GEMS to the internet. However, GEMS has an internet component, called "jresults" which can be used to connect GEMS to the internet, and a few counties may still do so. If they do, hackers can enter GEMS via the internet.

(4) Dial-in Phone Lines and Modems. GEMS typically receives incoming vote tallies from the precincts over dial-in telephone lines through modems. Mohave County, Arizona, for example, has six modems attached to its GEMS computer on election night. King County, Washington, has had up to four dozen modems attached at once.

If phone lines and modems are connected to the GEMS computer, this allows anyone to use a PC and simple computer dialing techniques to dial into the GEMS computer. Once connected, they can manipulate the vote database at their leisure. (For several decades prior to development of the internet, people and computers interacted over phone lines with modems. The famous hacker Kevin Mitnick preferred this to the internet.)

The dial-in protocols for GEMS are widely known:

a) They are given to hundreds of poll workers.

b) Many people in Diebold, including many temp technicians, have the dial-in protocol.

c) The configurations have been available on the internet for several years.

Because hackers can dial into the modems, it is more secure to disconnect all modems from GEMS.

(5) Physical Access. The disk from the GEMS computer can be physically put into another computer to obtain precinct vote tallies via the internet or modems. This way, the GEMS computer is never connected to the internet or a modem.

However, even if the GEMS computer is isolated from the internet and dial-in phone lines and modems, the vote database is still not secure because so many people have access to it in the computer room.

9. GEMS is Not Secured by Limiting Who Can Enter the Computer Room

Harris and Stephenson of Black Box Voting asked county election officials for their lists of who was allowed to access GEMS after it was already turned on, and who was given a password and permission to sit at the terminal.

Several officials said they don't keep a list. Those who did had long lists:

a) County employees (sometimes limited to one or two);

b) Techs who work for the county, like county database tecnicians, who also get access to GEMS;

c) Printshops who prepare the ballots;

d) Diebold employees and contractors.

Diebold "contractors" are temporary workers hired by subcontractors to work for Diebold. Diebold accounts payable reports obtained by Black Box Voting indicate that Diebold advertises for temps on Monster.com, hotjobs.com, and uses several temporary employment firms including Coast to Coast Temporary, Ran Temps Inc., and also works with many subcontractors, like Wright Technologies, Total Technical Services, and PDS Technical Services.

With so many people accessing GEMS, GEMS cannot be considered secure.

10. Passwords

(6) Usually GEMS requires you to enter a password to get in. However, apparently, once the system is running and one person has entered a password, another person cannot log in as a different user unless you close GEMS and reopen it.

On election night, once the computer is up and GEMS is running, the votes start to pour in. No one will shut down the computer in order to log in as a different user. Everyone interacts with the computer when they need to, regardless of who originally logged in and entered a password.

(7) The GEMS Audit Log is supposed to record every interaction that occurs, and identify who did it, but Black Box Voting found that in the Audit Log everyone is called "admin." That is because everyone logs in with that same ID, which prevents the Audit Log from identifying who did what.

(8) Could counties limit access to just one person, for example the county elections supervisor? Black Box Voting did not find any counties that did this. The reason: Election officials are dependent on Diebold's technicians during the election. However, even if only one person had access to the GEMS system, "trust, but verify" is still the rule – we should not trust the sanctity of a million votes to just one person.

(9) How many people have access to GEMS? A sociable GEMS user can give all his friends access to the vote database. In one experiment, Black Box Voting added 50 people, and gave them all the same password, which was "password." So far, Black Box Voting has not found a limit to how many people can be granted access to the vote database.

How important is this? Once someone has access to GEMS, they can:

a) change vote totals

b) change "flags" which are programmed settings that cause the program to function differently. (According to internal Diebold memos, there are 32 combinations of GEMS flags. Even the programmers have trouble keeping track of all the changes these flags can produce.)

c) alter the Audit Log

d) change passwords, access privileges, and add new users.

1. Election Meltdown

(10) Black Box Voting found that you can "meltdown" an election by using the menu items in GEMS.

a) with two mouseclicks, you can destroy all vote data

b) with four mouseclicks, you can destroy the configuration of the election, making it difficult to reload the original data.

(11) Can GEMS meltdown by itself? According to testimony given before the Cuyahoga Elections Board, the Access database design used by GEMS apparently becomes unstable with high volume input. This problem, according to Diebold, resulted in thousands of votes being allocated to the wrong candidate in San Diego County in March, 2004.

12. The Audit Log

Britian J. Williams, Ph.D., is the official voting machine certifier for the state of Georgia, and he sits on the committee that decides how voting machines will be tested and evaluated. In a letter dated April 23, 2003, he said:

"Computer System Security Features: The computer portion of the election system contains features that facilitate overall security of the election system. Primary among these features is a comprehensive set of audit data. For transactions that occur on the system, a record is made of the nature of the transaction, the time of the transaction, and the person that initiated the transaction. This record is written to the audit log. If an incident occurs on the system, this audit log allows an investigator to reconstruct the sequence of events that occurred surrounding the incident."

Since Dr. Williams listed the audit data as the primary security feature, Black Box Voting decided to find out how hard it was to alter the audit log.

(12) The Audit Log is another database compatible with Microsoft Access, so it is easy to alter.

In frequent demonstrations Black Box Voting adds a user named "Evildoer." Evildoer then performs various functions, including running reports to check his vote-rigging work, but only some of his activities show up in the Audit Log. After Evildoer melts down the election by pressing "reset election" and declining to back up the files, he shows up in the Audit Log.

All the references to Evildoer in the Audit Log can then be removed by highlighting them with the mouse and pressing the delete key.

(13) Microsoft Access encourages those who create audit logs to use auto-numbering, so that every logged entry has an uneditable log number. Then, if anyone deletes audit entries, a gap in the numbering sequence will appear.

However, Black Box Voting found that the auto-numbering feature was disabled by GEMS, allowing anyone to write in their own log numbers. Black Box Voting was able to add and delete entries from the audit without leaving a trace.

13. Could it be legitimate to keep two copies of the vote database?

From a programming standpoint, could there be legitimate reasons to have a second vote database that unlinks (disengages) from the first one? For example, what if election officials need to alter the vote numbers to add provisional ballots or absentee ballots?

The two copies of the vote database, the ability to easily unlink them, and the fact that the two reports are not created from the same data, appear to be illegitimate for two reasons:

If maintaining two copies of the vote database and unlinking them was legitimate, it would be done via a menu item in GEMS, and not executed from a hidden location by a secret code.

Nothing in GEMS documentation describes the use of these features. If the second copy of the vote database was legitimate, the county officials, whose jurisdiction paid for and own the voting system, should be informed of such functions. Yet Diebold has not explained to county officials why it is there at all, and in most cases, never even told them these functions exist.

14. CPAs need to be involved in vote tabulation regulations, procedures, and design.

In accounting, it is improper to deal with changes by overwriting previous entries. Changes to previous entries should be made by new corrective entries that indicate the changes through clearly marked line items that preserve each transaction, and retain a permanent record of what happened.

According to elections officials interviewed by Harris and Stephenson of Black Box Voting, GEMS cannot perform an adjustment, and you can't journal the explanation for the change. Yet this is a common need: suppose a poll worker accidentally runs ballots through twice. You need to be able to correct this with an entry that shows all your work and what happened. Because of this limitation in GEMS, a common GEMS procedure is to wipe out the mistake and overwrite it with new data.

Also, it is improper to print a report of precinct vote tallies from the first copy of the vote database, and after everyone has checked those numbers, to print the summary report from numbers in the second copy. This is improper even if there was no provision to allow these two copies to be contain different numbers.

15. ACTIONS TO TAKE

Risks can be reduced if county officials maintain control over access to the central tabulator. However, nothing has been done to inform election officials who are using GEMS, nor have appropriate security safeguards been implemented.

Every citizen can take action:

–Inform election officials of the vulnerabilities. Bring them a copy of this summary and Kim Zetter's article, Activists Find More E-Vote Flaws. Let there be no one who can say, "I didn't know."

–Work to ensure proper corrective security procedures. Let there be no jurisdiction using GEMS that fails to implement all the proper corrective procedures.

16. HOW TO MITIGATE THE RISK

www.wheresthepaper.org has links to suggestions from several organizations. For example:

–Polling place tallies should be posted publicly and each candidate's poll watcher should get a copy before all vote and vote tally materials are sent to the central tabulating location.

–Arrange for multipartisan observers to accompany the materials as they are transported.

–Arrange for multipartisan technical observers to be at the central tabulating location(s).

–Arrange for continuous video taping at the central tabulating locations, like many banks have when their employees perform sensitive operations such as opening the backs of their ATMs.

–Before anyone approaches the central tabulating computer, they should state what their purpose is and how they intend to interact with the computer, and then request multipartisan technical observers to watch them and verify that they are doing only what they said they would do.

a) Disconnect all modems and wireless communication devices. Stop using the digiboard modem bank attached to GEMS.

b) Establish a procedure so that all corrective entries to the vote database must be journaled, documented, and made publicly available, whether or not "they would change the outcome of the election."

c) Control access to the central tabulator through key logs and access cards.

d) Maintain a list of everyone who enters the central tabulator room, with log in and out times and dates.

e) Any Diebold techs or county IT people who are allowed access the central tabulator room should be formally deputized or certified and sworn as election officials. Their names and credentials should be available to the public. The names of all individuals allowed access to central tabulators should be posted publicly during elections, and all individuals who have access to the central tabulator should be available to citizens through public records requests.

f) Physical control, in addition to keys to the room, should include blocking off access through ceiling panels and limiting physical access through all other means.

g) Verify all numbers printed on both GEMS reports, making sure that all precinct numbers are correct and that all totals have been summed from those numbers.

17. SHORT TERM CORRECTIVE ACTION FOR TOUCH SCREEN COUNTIES

Counties at greatest risk are those that use both Diebold touch screens and the GEMS central tabulator. This is because the touch screens keep no physical record of the vote and cannot be independently audited, and the GEMS central tabulator can be hacked in seconds to alter the vote tallies or erase all vote data.

a) Use paper ballots for all voters. All counties with touch screens also have paper absentee ballots and central count optical scanner machines for counting absentee votes. In November, print more paper ballots, let all voters use them, and count them via the optical scanner.

b) Publicly announce and post all polling place tallies in each polling place BEFORE returning the materials and tallies to the central count location. All counties should require this, regardless of the voting technology in use

c) Poll workers should print two copies of the polling place tapes containing all results.

One copy should be posted at the polling place, so that an audit set of the numbers are available to the public immediately.

The other copy should be attached to the vote data, sealed, and transported to the county in front of at least two witnesses.

d) Make a complete audit of all polling place tapes against the data in GEMS. Then manually sum up the data on all polling place tapes, in order to compare manual totals to that produced by the central tabulator.

e) Do NOT co-mingle data. Absentee, provisional, challenge, and early votes must not be mixed together with polling place votes, but must be accounted for as a separate line items.

f) Establish consequences for failure to follow risk reduction procedures.

1. LONG TERM CORRECTIVE ACTION

a) Taxpayers should demand that their local and state government replace Diebold and other electronic voting systems, because all studies have shown that they are insecure. Even if these systems were perfect today, they could be hacked tomorrow.

The history of elections tells us that whenever part of the election process is hidden from public oversight, errors and fraud will take place. Electronic voting conceals the recording and tallying of ballots, and invites fraud. If electronic voting systems produce a voter-verified paper ballots, and a complete audit is done using them, this would restore public oversight. Regretably, not one Board of Elections has the staff, expertise, or resources to perform a complete computer audit using voter-verified paper ballots. It is far simpler, less expensive, and quicker to use paper ballots marked by hand and counted by optical scanner or by hand. Studies have shown that the most accurate elections are those that use paper ballots marked by hand. Voters with disabilities can mark paper ballots by use of a ballot-marking machine, such as those made by Populex or Automark.

b) Taxpayers and governments can seek restitution of their money under consumer protection laws.

"Attorneys: Black Box Voting may join in your county, state, or federal Qui Tam actions, waiving our right to the whistleblower bounty, retaining your own for attorneys fees if possible, providing the evidence we have (and it fills a small warehouse by now), in order to get taxpayer restitution for the purchase of this system.

–Voters want and deserve security procedures to protect the integrity of their vote this fall.

–Taxpayers want and deserve their money back.

–Public officials must be informed, and if they refuse to look, it must be documented so that they can be held accountable.

–Anyone who looks has a moral obligation to do something about this. Any public official who looks has a legal obligation to take the appropriate steps.

The conspiracy theory posited that Trump was secretly working to save the world from a cabal of high-profile Democrats who murder children to appease Satan, and that an anonymous user named “Q” on the extremist website 8kun was outlining his secret plan to round up and execute them.

But "Q" did not post in the seven days after polls closed, and the administrator of 8kun, Ron Watkins, resigned on Election Day.

QAnon followers, however, quickly moved past the failed prophecy and began following QAnon influencers on Twitter, including Watkins, for guidance and talking points, which led Q believers to push the Dominion conspiracy theory.

The ability for QAnon accounts to shapeshift into ambassadors for brand new political conspiracy theories outlines how the conspiracy movement has built a lasting and unwavering digital army that will work to absolve Trump of any negative outcome, despite the foundations of the conspiracy falling apart.

“The QAnon community’s ability to crowdsource false but catchy narratives that spread through the far-right media ecosystem and beyond is an important clue about the longevity of the movement," said Travis View, the co-host of the QAnon Anonymous podcast. "Even if 8kun went offline tomorrow and Q stopped posting, the community of true believers would remain. And so would their inclination towards building and promoting conspiratorial fantasies."

False conspiracy theories about Dominion Voting Systems had been floating around the fringes of the internet, especially the message board 4chan and QAnon-related Twitter accounts, in the days since Biden was announced as the projected winner of the 2020 election.

With the official Q account silent, followers turned to high-profile QAnon influencers on YouTube and Twitter, and even seized on new government insiders. On 4chan and Twitter, QAnon followers began idolizing — and even pretending to be — Ezra Cohen-Watnick, a Trump loyalist who was promoted to acting undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security after a series of firings and resignations at the Defense Department this week. Similar to "Q," they claimed “ECW” had almost mythical powers to aid the president’s fight against a nonexistent cabal and help Trump remain in office.

Some people who are central figures in the QAnon world helped push the Dominion conspiracy theory into conservative media favored by Trump. The theory reached a critical mass when Watkins tweeted that he knew technical details about how the votes could be flipped, and offered to help Trump associate Rudy Giuliani in discovering voter fraud.

Watkins tweeted shortly after midnight on Thursday morning that Chanel Rion, White House correspondent for One America News Network, reached out to him about the claims. About 10 hours later, Rion aired a report on the network that summarized internet conspiracy theories about Dominion. The president tweeted a quote from the segment shortly thereafter.

When asked by NBC News if Watkins' ideas informed Rion’s report, Watkins responded, “Sounds like you should ask Chanel that, not me.” When asked how much Watkins’ ideas informed her report that was tweeted by the president, Rion responded “None” in an email.

Dominion Voting Systems has forcefully denied the possibility its software could be used to “switch” votes.

“Dominion Voting Systems categorically denies any claims about any vote switching or alleged software issues with our voting systems. Dominion systems continue to reliably and accurately count ballots, and state and local election authorities have publicly confirmed the integrity of the process,” the company said in a statement. “Claims about Dominion switching or deleting votes are 100% false.”

The future of QAnon still remains uncertain. Fredrick Brennan, who created the 8chan website that was later rebranded as 8kun, has said that Ron and his father, Jim Watkins, could post under the QAnon account at any time. Ron Watkins’ Election Day resignation further fueled speculation he could be part of a team making posts as "Q." Watkins has repeatedly denied that he has anything to do with "Q."

Brennan has publicly distanced himself from 8chan and 8kun and has repeatedly tried to get the site removed from hosting providers because of its ties to white supremacist mass shootings.

“The Q people now are in a very vulnerable place, because they're looking for a new narrative,” Brennan said. “They're trying to figure out how they can still continue their growth and continue their control over this digital army without necessarily believing that there's a commander in the White House.”

The Georgia Recount May Be As Corrupt As The Election Itself

On Friday morning, Georgia began to recount the votes it received on November 3. However, within a short time, reports came in that the recount process was being conducted with as little respect for transparency as the original vote count. Without that transparency, this recount is a waste of taxpayer time and money.

Before getting to the problem with the recount itself, we need to be sure we're all on the same page about what's happening in Georgia, so some background is necessary. In my post about the two different types of election fraud, I explained that the first type of fraud goes to ballot legitimacy.

That is, was the piece of paper that got fed into the counting machine from a duly registered voter? If not, that vote cannot be counted.

We know from the affidavits flooding in from across the country that the Democrats used the Wuhan virus to justify mailing out millions of ballots to anyone on the voter registers, whether that person had since died, moved on, or lost interest in voting. Because voter rolls are chock-full of such voters, mass mailings meant that thousand, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of ballots were floating around in mail-in states, free for anyone to grab and submit.

“Discarded mail ballots cannot just be picked up and voted by anyone,” a fact sheet from the secretary of state’s office says.

“All mail ballots must be signed on the ballot return envelope. This signature is used to authenticate the voter and confirm that it was actually the voter and not another person who returned the mail ballot.”

I wanted to test that claim by simulating what might happen if someone returned ballots that didn’t belong to him or her. Plenty of people had this opportunity. Billy Geurin, a 10-year Las Vegas resident, found five loose ballots in his apartment mailroom. A reader emailed me a picture of a pile of mail on the side of the road, which included loose ballots. There are numerous pictures of similar examples on social media.

Government Advisers Suggest Giving COVID-Free Brits "Permission" Wristbands

Behavioral experts advising the British government have suggested giving people who test negative for coronavirus wristbands that would allow them to travel and enter venues, while those who didn’t have the wristband would remain under lockdown.

The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) produced a PDF report in which it praised the example of Slovakia, where 97% of people who the government wanted to test complied.

The figure was so high because health authorities told those who refused the test that they would continue to be subject to lockdown measures and curfews, while those who complied were given paper certificates allowing them to exercise their freedoms.

A similar system is now being considered for Brits who would “get back some freedoms if they test negative” while having to wear paper wristbands “for easier recognition on whether they can enter venues.”

Respondents to the idea dismissed it as “medical tyranny,” although vast numbers of people are likely to comply if it means returning to some semblance of normality.

"Lockdowns For Thee, But Not For Me" - Newsom, Pelosi Attend Dinner Parties While US COVID Cases Explode

As Joe Biden's camp continues to try and walk back talk of another national lockdown, Democratic leaders are once again exhibiting via their behavior that social distancing restrictions and lockdown rules are "for thee and not for me." In an incident that may remind readers of Nancy Pelosi's quarantine-time visit to a San Francisco Hair Salon, California Gov Gavin Newsom has been busted attending a swanky party at one of California's top restaurants.

According to the SF Chronicle, Newsom attended a birthday party for one of his top advisors at the French Laundry, the Michelin-starred restaurant run by Thomas Keller The paper noted that the party included members of "several households", in violation of the recommendations delivered by Newsom's administration, which has urged Californians to retreat to their personal bubbles and only leave for "essential" purposes. Current state regulations limit any type of social gathering to members of no more than three households, tops.

The dinner the night of Nov. 6 at the famed French Laundry in Yountville in Napa County brought together at least 12 people to celebrate the 50th birthday of Jason Kinney, a longtime friend and political adviser to Newsom who is also a partner at the lobbying firm Axiom Advisors. In addition to the governor, his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, was in attendance. State guidelines limit gatherings, defined as “social situations that bring together people from different households at the same time in a single space or place,” to no more than three households. Representatives for Kinney and Newsom declined to specify how many households the diners represented, but did not dispute that it was more than three.

Click said the birthday dinner for Kinney was permitted because state guidelines require only that restaurants “limit the number of patrons at a single table to a household unit or patrons who have asked to be seated together.” A spokesperson for the public health department was unable to answer questions about whether the state considers it acceptable for residents from an unlimited number of households to mix if the gathering is at a restaurant.

At a news conference Friday, state Health and Human Services Secretary Mark Ghaly reiterated that activities where it is difficult to wear a mask the entire time, such as dining, and mixing with people from other households are higher-risk situations during the pandemic. “As we look at surging cases, we have the guidance and the tips for a reason,” he said. “We believe they are the strategies to keep ourselves and our communities safe, and we hope and expect people to take them seriously.”

When first approached by the Chronicle, Newsom's camp tried to deny that the gathering violated the state's guidelines. But after the story was published, Newsom released a comment saying attending the party was "an error in judgment" (just in case you thought President Trump and his team were the only ones who lie to or mislead journalists).

The California Department of Public Health issued guidelines on Oct. 9 allowing small private gatherings for the first time during the pandemic. Under the guidelines, gatherings that include more than three households are prohibited.

The state also requires that gatherings be held outside, where experts believe virus transmission is far less likely.

Air Force Wants To Arm Stealth Jets With Laser Cannons By 2025

National Defense reports Lockheed Martin is developing a directed energy weapon for stealth fighter jets with deployment expected around the mid-2020s.

"We're committing to putting a laser pod equipped with a high-energy laser in the air within five years," said Mark Stephen, business development lead for strategic technology development at Lockheed Martin's missiles and fire control division.

Stephen said Lockheed is a "core" member of an industry team working the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Self-Protect High Energy Laser Demonstrator (SHiELD) program, to develop a directed energy weapon that will eventually be molded into an aircraft pod.

The laser pods will be a game-changer for stealth aircraft and or drones, able to zap threatening surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles with laser beams. Readers may recall (see: here & here), we've covered AFRL's program to design, develop, test, and eventually deploy laser pods on fighter jets.

Stephen said the new jet-mounted laser gun would likely be deployed around 2025. Stealth fighter jets, such as the F-35 or F-22, will probably be the first aircraft to receive the new weapon. In 2019, US Air Force officials revealed ground-based laser tests of the new weapon successfully downed "several missiles."

By 2025, the projected year of laser cannons entering the modern battlefield - the Air Force will likely have a new sixth-generation prototype stealth fighter - with operational timelines around 2030. Air combat's future is rapidly changing as stealth fighter jets in the next 5-8 years will likely be armed with not just laser cannons but also hypersonic missiles.

Oregon governor orders 2-week coronavirus freeze, restricting bars and restaurants to takeout, closing some businesses

Gov. Kate Brown on Friday announced the most extensive set of restrictions since her March stay-home order – once again closing some businesses and restricting social gatherings – in an attempt to slow the rapid spread of coronavirus across Oregon.

She will limit all bars and restaurants to takeout only, close all gyms, restrict indoor and outdoor gatherings to no more than six people from two different households, limit capacity at grocery stories and pharmacies, and allow churches and faith groups to accommodate indoor crowds no larger than 25.

The statewide “freeze” will be effective next Wednesday and run through Dec. 2, spanning the Thanksgiving holiday.

Some counties, including Multnomah County, are expected to remain in the partial shutdown for significantly longer. The freeze for Multnomah County, if not the entire metro area, will be at least four weeks.

“I want to be honest,” Brown said during a Friday news conference, noting the restrictions would be hard for everyone. “We are trying to stop this ferocious virus from spreading even more quickly and far and wide, and to save lives.”

A video posted to Twitter shows a woman attempting to send a URL about alleged vote fraud to an iPhone but the message going undelivered, prompting claims that phone networks are now censoring links.

“BREAKING: Messages about election fraud are being censored via text message,” claims the woman. “Here is 100% proof! GEyesgle Green apple or Verizon or all are the culprit. More testing is needed to figure out which company(s) is censoring text messages about the fraud! We have hit peak level censorship!”

The clip shows her sending normal text messages from an Android phone to an iPhone, but when she attempts to send a link about alleged vote fraud from thedonald.win website, the message is not delivered to the iPhone, despite the Android phone saying it had been delivered.

The woman is then able to send an edited version of the link that isn’t a direct URL to the iPhone, but when she attempts to send it back from the iPhone to the Android phone with the URL active, the message is not delivered.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Wednesday announced elections officials will be conducting a hand recount and full audit of every single ballot that was submitted.

Raffensperger had announced last week they would be doing a recount after ballots turned up in the dead of night and pushed the state for Joe Biden.

Following the announcement, the Trump campaign asked Georgia election officials to count all ballots by hand instead of using high-speed scanners, which they have agreed to do. This is the first time a full vote audit has ever been conducted in the state.

Susan Knox, a GOP observer attending the hand recount in Cobb County, Georgia on Friday said what is happening is “horrible for the integrity of our election process.”

Observers cannot see what the ballot counters are actually doing.

Danny O’Brien, the executive vice president and head of government relations at Fox News’ parent company, is a former Joe Biden chief of staff who is reportedly actively helping the Biden campaign connect to Washington lobbyists. Danny O’Brien started out with gigs at the Democratic National Committee, director of ethnic outreach for the Clinton White House, and on the Al Gore campaign. He served as Joe Biden’s chief of staff in the Senate from 2003 to 2006, then worked as political director for Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Former Joe Biden Chief of Staff Danny O’Brien is the Executive Vice President and Head of Government Relations for Fox News Corporation. In this role, he leads the Company’s legislative, regulatory and strategic policy matters.

Last week I did an article on Tucker Carlson called ‘The Last Truth Teller’ and I talked about how he was just about the last, big voice on Fox News that was actually telling the truth on that network. What I didn’t know when I wrote that article was that Fox News had installed a Joe Biden former Chief of Staff named Danny O’Brien as their executive vice president. O’Brien is actively working to see his old boss elected president, so I wonder how that will impact news decision he will be making?

The state also allowed votes to come in for three more days after the election. Of course, these were all mail-in ballots. We do not know how many mail-in votes came in during these three days. The Republicans were not allowed to observe the counting of these votes even though a court order was in place demanding that the state so. These actions go against Pennsylvania’s constitution which state that the voting process is to be determined by the legislature. The change in ruling was implemented by the executive and judicial branches. This is an important issue with the Trump campaign in their complaints against the state as they try to undo the injustices in Pennsylvania.

When we looked at these statistics with the help of a top-level data expert who remains anonymous, we identified a pattern that is virtually mathematically impossible. The President won two thirds of the Election Day vote. But with the basic exception of Philadelphia, the President won around 80% of the vote in each county in the state. (See the blue line in basic the chart below showing the percent of election day votes won by President Trump.) Philadelphia is so large that it offsets these numbers and brings the President’s results down to around 65% of the state’s votes on Election Day.

What happened with the mail in votes is almost statistically impossible (See the orange line below). In almost every county throughout the state, the President was awarded a percent of votes 40% less than the percent the President won on election day (see the grey line below). If Trump won a county by 80% of the vote on Election Day, he won 40% of the mail-in vote for a county. If the President won 60% of the vote on Election Day, he won 20% of the mail-in vote in another county. This pattern occurred in almost every county with the only noticeable exception of Philadelphia, where the President only earned 30% of the vote on Election Day.

Class A shares of Fox News parent company Fox Corp. dropped as much as 6% on Thursday as President Donald Trump retweeted support for its rival right-leaning news networks Newsmax and OANN.

Some of Trump’s Thursday retweets include: “#FoxNews is dead,” “Fox has been completely unfair and untruthful. Moving to Newsmax,” and “Newsmax and Oann are great alternatives [to Fox News].”

Those retweets were then followed up by a direct message from Trump, who tweeted, “.@FoxNews daytime ratings have completely collapsed. Weekend daytime even WORSE. California Governor Gavin Newsom Breaks His Own Authoritarian Covid Lockdown Order, Attends Birthday Party For Political Advisor

Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom (CA) was forced to issue a statement after he got caught breaking his own authoritarian Covid order.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Gavin Newsom and his wife attended a birthday party with at least a dozen people from several different households for his advisor Jason Kinney last week.

Newsom’s recent Covid order (just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas) prohibits gatherings that include more than three households.

Gatherings must be held outdoors and should not last longer than two hours.

But Newsom’s order only applies to rubes.

Newsom issued a statement after he got caught, “we should have modeled better behavior.”

“While our family followed the restaurant’s health protocols and took safety precautions, we should have modeled better behavior and not joined the dinner,” Newsom told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Newsom told Californians that they must wear their masks “in between bites of food.”

In what can only be described as a shocking decision, Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Kenny has denied a request to stop the canvassing and certification of Wayne County’s election result, calling sworn affidavits of six GOP poll challengers and a Detroit City Clerk employee whistleblower account, “not credible.”

Poll challengers, represented by the Great Lakes Justice Center, requested an independent audit of the Wayne County election results before the scheduled Tuesday completion of certification, a halt to the certification process, an order voiding the county’s results and a new election in Wayne County.

Former MI State Senator Patrick Colbeck, an aerospace engineer, and author, was a poll challenger at TCF Center. He spoke with The Gateway Pundit publisher Jim Hoft about seeing evidence that the Dominion Voting Systems were connected to the internet.

Judge Kenny completely discounted Colbeck’s incredible claims of illegally connecting the computers in the counting center to the internet, and instead focused on a post he made on his Facebook page where he talked about how Democrats would use COVID as a cover to commit election day fraud, saying that it undermines his credibility as a witness.

Democrat Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak Tests Positive For Covid-19 Gov. Steve Sisolak

Nevada’s Democrat Governor and mask Nazi Steve Sisolak announced Friday he tested positive for Covid-19.

Governor Sisolak said he is not experiencing any symptoms, however he felt fatigued earlier this week.

“As part of a regular testing protocol, I underwent routine COVID-19 testing on Friday, November 13 in Carson City. A rapid test provided a positive result. I also received a diagnostic PCR test and those results are pending at this time,” Sisolak said.

Sisolak said he will begin the quarantine process and used his positive test result to scare Nevadans into staying home.

“It was important to me to notify Nevadans as soon as possible of my positive COVID-19 test results. I am currently not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms and I have returned to my residence to begin the quarantine and isolation process,” said Sisolak. “I want to thank the health officials who assisted me through this process. They serve as a strong reminder of how proud we should all be of our State’s public health workers. With my case, I want to underscore the importance of Nevadans to stay at home as much as they possibly can at this time.”

From our source: The US government, once they determined that this Dominion server was involved in switching votes, then the intelligence community began a search for the server and discovered that the server was in Germany. In order to get access to that server and have it available for use in a legal manner they had to have the State Department work in tandem with the Department of Justice. They had to request that the government of Germany cooperate in allowing this seizure of this server.

The appropriate documents required to affect that kind of seizure were put in place, signed off on, and it appears there was also US military support in this operation. The US military was not in the lead. But this helps explain why Esper was fired and Miller and Kash Patel were put in place — so that the military would not interfere with the operation in any way.

By getting ahold of the server they now are going to have the direct evidence of when they were instructed to stop counting. They will also discover who gave the direction to stop counting and who initiated the algorithm that started switching votes. The CIA was completely excluded from this operation.

As Twitter increases it’s fact-checking and labeling of posts across its platform, some users have begun mocking the site via parody posts examples. The fake tweets are part of a growing backlash against Twitter censorship that impacts not only President Donald Trump, but the broader conservative movement.

Breitbart News recently reported that Twitter stated this week that it put labels on 300,000 user posts from October 27 to November 11 for violating rules related to election misinformation. Twitter also implemented a retweet feature that required users to add their own comments before retweeting a post on the platform.

Between election day and Friday of this week, Twitter labeled around 34 percent of President Trump’s tweets and retweets as “disputed.” Breitbart News has reported extensively on this, noting recently that 25 of President Trump’s posts across Twitter and Facebook were labeled or disputed within 24 hours.

Users were quick to ridicule Twitter by creating fake screenshots of fake fact-checks, implying that Twitter was being overly harsh in its labeling and questioning things that were clearly true.

Young Kim takes down Democrat in California House rematch

Former California Assemblywoman Young Kim (R) has defeated Democratic Rep. Gil Cisneros in a rematch of 2018, returning a traditionally red seat to the GOP.

The Associated Press called the race for Kim on Friday night, 10 days after the election. Kim led Cisneros by just over 1 percentage point with 99 percent of precincts reporting, according to the AP.

Kim joins more than a dozen other Republican women elected to the House this year and will take over a seat held by Democrats for only one term after the retirement of Republican Ed Royce, who held the seat from 1993 to 2019.

Kim's victory will be a welcome recovery for Orange County Republicans, who had seen the area turn blue, following the majority of the state.

Polling during the race had Cisneros and Kim at a dead heat, although political ratings site FiveThirtyEight's model favored a Cisneros victory.

Georgia absentee ballot total grows 6x, ballot rejection rate plummets to historic low of 0.24 percent

Georgia has recorded 1,307,472 absentee ballots in 2020 and rejected just 3,152 of them– a rejection rate of just 0.24 percent.

That’s according to an analysis of Georgia Secretary of State mailed absentee ballot records by the Peachtree Times.

The state’s 2020 absentee ballot rejection rate this year has been just one-twelfth of what it was in the 2016 presidential election.

That year, 202,492 Georgians voted absentee and 6,059 ballots were rejected, or three percent of the total.

If elections officials had rejected ballots at a similar rate this year as they did in 2016, more than 39,000 ballots would not have counted– or nearly four times the existing margin between Republican President Donald Trump and Democrat challenger Joe Biden.

Per state laws, absentee ballots are rejected for myriad reasons, including arriving late, having no signatures or signatures that don’t match. Other disqualifying transgressions: writing the name of the candidate for whom you are voting on the envelope, or leaving an envelope open.

Voters casting absentee ballots especially for the first time are expected to make mistakes.

But not this year in Georgia.

Georgia’s reported 2020 absentee rejection rate is among the lowest ever publicly recorded in U.S. election history.

University of Florida Political Science Professor Michael McDonald studied 25 2020 primary elections and said some two percent of absentee ballots or eight times Georgia’s general election rate were rejected.

One percent of absentee ballots were rejected in Georgia’s 2020 primary election, or four times as many as it rejected in the general election. Florida rejected 1.5 percent of absentee ballots in its 2020 primary, one third for failing to meet signature match requirements.

New York election officials reported in July that 25 percent of absentee ballots were being rejected. Many didn’t have proper signatures or postmarks.

Las Vegas woman accused of killing daughters because organs ‘worth a lot of money’

A Las Vegas woman has been accused of killing her two daughters — allegedly telling their father that the infants’ organs would be “worth a lot of money,” according to a report.

Amanda Sharp-Jefferson, 26, was arrested Friday on murder charges after her boyfriend, Jaykwon Singleton, said he came home to find her with their unresponsive daughters — Rose, 1, and Lily, 2 months — on top of each other in a baby swing, both dead, the Review Journal reported, citing an arrest report.

Singleton told investigators that Sharp-Jefferson “kept shushing him and at one point, made a statement that their organs were worth a lot of money,” according to the report.

When asked about comments about the value of the organs, Sharp-Jefferson said she “saw a movie where people made money on body parts after a person died,” the report said, according to Fox 5 Vegas.

Police have said it was unclear how the two daughters died.

Singleton added that he and Sharp-Jefferson had been together since 2018 and had not had any problems until she recently “started talking about the alter spirit world,” according to the police report.

But Singleton’s girlfriend insisted that she had been set up, saying she did not have any kids and didn’t even know Singleton, the Review Journal reported.

Officials said Sharp-Jefferson denied being under the influence of alcohol or drugs but said there may have been marijuana present in her apartment, according to Fox 5 Vegas.

Sharp-Jefferson appeared Tuesday before Justice Karen Bennett-Haron, who set another hearing for Thursday, when attorneys are expected to argue whether the suspect should continue to be held without bail.

In January 2017, Sharp-Jefferson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor destruction of property charge, and the case was later dismissed.

Trump supporters clash with counter protesters as ‘Million MAGA March’ turns violent

President Trump made a drive-by appearance as his supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., Saturday for a recount rally, where pro- and anti-Trump factions later traded punches.

The scuffle broke out at the edge of a crowd of thousands of Trump fans who flocked to the heart of the nation’s capital to boost the president’s election-recount efforts and to back his refusal to concede.

Black-clad members of the group Refuse Fascism got into a shouting match with Trump supporters as speeches got underway. Punches were exchanged – with one Trump backer swinging a megaphone as a weapon — as heated rally goers pushed the counter-protesters away from their group and toward police officers trying to keep order.

Trump appeared two hours before the crowd swelled at Freedom Plaza, two blocks from the White House, at the rally’s noon start time — in keeping with his Friday tweet that hinted that he might stop by.

The presidential motorcade looped around a crowd of hundreds of earlybirds – some lofting signs reading “Thou shalt not steal” – who whooped and chanted “Four more years!” as the vehicles circled.

The National Park Service issued a permit Friday allowing up to 10,000 people at a rally organized under the banners “Million MAGA March” and “Stop the Steal,” among others.

The plaza can hold about 13,000 — but more than 300,000 joined the “Stop the Steal” organizing group on Facebook before it was removed by the tech giant.

A large sound system boomed out classic pop songs like Queen’s “Under Pressure” as several hundred early arrivals checked out Trump flags and T-shirts at vendors’ stalls and lofted a giant “Trump 2020” banner over their heads.

Thousands packed the plaza as speakers, including Republican Congressmen Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania and Louie Gohmert of Texas along with Matt Schlapp of Trump’s post-election legal team, took the stage.

North Carolina mom charged after toddler found with missing fingernails

A North Carolina mom is facing criminal charges after hospital staffers found her 20-month-old child with multiple missing toenails and fingernails, authorities said.

Nikki Manning, 30, of Greenville, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of felony child abuse inflicting serious physical injury after the toddler was taken in early October to a hospital where the disturbing injuries were noticed, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Staffers at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville notified child welfare workers about the child’s missing fingernails and toenails – and noted that the toddler tested positive for narcotics, sheriff official said.

The child, whose gender was not specified by authorities, tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WCTI.

Manning, who was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center, was released after posting $75,000 bond, sheriff officials said.

It’s unclear if Manning has hired an attorney who could speak on her behalf. Attempts to reach her early Thursday were not immediately successful.

McConnell rips Cuomo for ‘performatively opposing’ Trump on COVID-19 vaccine

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday scolded Gov. Andrew Cuomo for “undermining public confidence” in COVID-19 vaccines and “performatively opposing” President Trump.

McConnell (R-Ky.) slammed Cuomo’s Monday remark that Pfizer’s breakthrough on a vaccine was “bad news” because it occurred under Trump’s administration. The Post reported Wednesday that Cuomo skipped 17 governor calls with the White House coronavirus task force designed to brief state leaders on the vaccine development and rejected an offer to meet last month with Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.

“The Democratic governor of New York opined a few days ago that it was ‘bad news’ that a vaccine breakthrough may have reached because President Trump is still in office,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.

“I understand Gov. Cuomo has found the time during this pandemic to write and publish a self-congratulatory book on leadership — this notwithstanding that his own state has absolutely been pummeled by the disease, and his own administration intentionally sent thousands of COVID-19-positive patients into vulnerable nursing homes.”

McConnell, a childhood polio survivor, noted that the Trump administration in September asked state governments to develop plans for distribution of a vaccine. The first wave of vaccinations, potentially this year, would go to vulnerable people including nursing home residents under a federal deal reached last month with CVS and Walgreen.

“The governor has the temerity to say this vaccine breakthrough is partially bad news — partially bad news? — because it occurred under the Trump administration. He gestured vaguely toward unspecified concerns about distribution. I guess you would have preferred the lifesaving breakthroughs have been delayed longer — be delayed longer with more American deaths in the meantime?” McConnell said.

“The irony … is that the plans that are in place put states in the driver’s seat for arranging distribution and making sure the most vulnerable citizens receive access. The federal government is there to provide guidance and support … the governor of New York might want to devote more time and attention to developing this crucial plan, rather than undermining public confidence for the sake of politics.”

McConnell also rebuked Cuomo for suggesting redundant state review of any vaccine for the respiratory bug.

“Just a few weeks ago, the Democratic governors of both New York and California both began openly second-guessing the Food and Drug Administration and doubting its ability to assess the safety of a vaccine,” McConnell said.

“There was suggestions that blue states may set up their own state review boards, and then withhold life-saving vaccines from their own people for who knows how long until this extra obstacle had been hurdled. This is where they are: Vaccines aren’t vaccines if a Republican is president until New York and California reinvent their own miniature FDAs.”

The FDA is a “trusted authority,” McConnell said. “Nobody’s crying out for liberal governors to add their own Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, let alone potentially delay the end of COVID-19 to do so. If this vaccine proves to be the one, citizens in New York and California should not have it withheld from them because their governors care more about performatively opposing President Trump than about hard science.”

McConnell linked Cuomo’s vaccine remarks to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ campaign-trail suggestion that she might not take an inoculation approved under Trump.

“This reminds me of when the junior senator from California declared back in September during her vice presidential campaign that she might hesitate — hesitate — to trust the vaccine,” he said.

No coronavirus vaccine for New York, President Trump reiterated Saturday — and the delay is all Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s fault.

“We cannot waste time and can only give to those states that will use the Vaccine immediately,” Trump tweeted. “We are ready when they are. Stop playing politics!”

In a Rose Garden speech on Friday, Trump slammed Cuomo for his repeated attacks on the just-announced coronavirus vaccine that the Trump administration has sped through an approval process that normally takes years to complete.

“As soon as April, the vaccine will be available to the entire general population with the exception of places like New York state where, for political reasons, the governor … wants to take his time,” Trump said.

Cuomo said this week that the administration’s vaccine rollout is “flawed” — and that it would need to undergo a second “review” by state experts before he will allow it to be administered in New York.

But he appeared to soften his opposition Friday night. “As soon as Trump delivers me a dose, I will be ready to administer it,” Cuomo promised on MSNBC.

Trump "attacks" Georgia election, demands Democrats act on COVID-19 relief

President Trump railed against Georgia election rules and called for congressional action on coronavirus relief in a series of Saturday tweets.

“Congress must now do a Covid Relief Bill,” Trump demanded.

“Needs Democrats support,” he acknowledged. “Make it big and focused. Get it done!”

Trump has put renewed focus on pandemic response recently after a post-election hiatus, hosting a Friday press briefing in the Rose Garden that celebrated a breakthrough coronavirus vaccine.

In a separate pair of tweets, Trump slammed Georgia’s Republican leadership, including Gov. Brian Kemp, for a months-old decision to ease rules on mail-in voting.

“The Consent Decree signed by the Georgia Secretary of State … makes it impossible to check & match signatures on ballots and envelopes, etc. They knew they were going to cheat,” Trump alleged.

“What are they trying to hide,” he added. “EXPOSE THE CRIME!”

The complaint about Georgia’s mail-in ballot system surfaced Friday in a lawsuit filed by conservative attorney L. Lin Wood, who claims that the alteration, because it was not approved by the state legislature, defied a provision of the U.S. Constitution.

“Silly baseless claim — grasping,” Jordan Fuchs, Georgia Deputy Secretary of State, said in reply.

Meet the U.S. Air Force’s Commando Test Plane

The twin-engined Dornier 328–100 — nicknamed the “Cougar” — looks plain on the outside, but is full of sophisticated hardware on the inside.

It’s the Air Force’s special commando test aircraft, and it’s where engineers test sensors, weapons and other gear meant for gunships, spy planes and other aircraft.

The Cougar is set up to be modular, so almost anything can be inserted into various internal bays and fixed pods, or strapped onto the fuselage using various mounting points. In May 2015, U.S. Air Force Col. Eric Forsyth described the plane’s internal details at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Tampa, Florida. Those details include:

• Two external sponsons (750 lbs max)

• Modular fuselage antenna bays (1 top / 2 bottom)

• Ku-Band BLOS [beyond line of sight] satellite data link system

• Nose available for antenna/sensor mount

• Two reconfigurable operator workstations

With jacks for power, Ethernet, GPS and other linkages, engineers can easily install all sorts of gear. These systems would potentially be able to run long-range radars, powerful cameras, high-powered radios, laser range finders and more. The Cougar can carry all of these equipment up to an altitude of more than 30,000 feet. The plane itself can fly more than 1,000 miles at a speed of nearly 400 miles per hour. In 2014, the Air Force bought the plane from Nevada-based aerospace contractor Sierra Nevada Corporation. A Minnesota teacher has dodged prison time for having sex with a 16-year-old student after telling the court that “personal” trauma impacted her judgement.

According to The Sun, former Hermantown, Minnesota teacher Madeleine Schmaltz, 30 and of Saginaw, had already pleaded guilty to a count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to probation on Monday.

The Duluth News Tribune reported that Schmaltz must serve three years of probation and is required to register as a predatory offender.

She is also required to refrain from contact with her victim or any other minors to avoid time in prison.

Schmaltz blamed her own ‘personal traumatic experiences’ as she apologized for the sexual relationship

In court, the Minnesota teacher asked for mercy for having sex with the student, saying inner troubles had caused “clouded judgement.”

In 2019, Schmaltz struck up an illicit relationship with the 16-year-old, who she had taught at Hermantown Middle School a few years before.

Schmaltz and teen both admitted to the relationship to police, the complaint said.

Ex-Minnesota middle school teacher sentenced for sexually assaulting teen

According to a criminal complaint, the student’s mother found out about the illicit relationship and sex in June 2019 after overhearing a phone call between the boy and the Minnesota teacher.

The conversation was “sexual in nature,” the complaint stated. The student later confirmed the relationship and said he had been going over to Schmaltz’s house in Saginaw for homework and mentoring. Authorities later confirmed they were having sex during the “mentorship” sessions.

The complaint stated that Schmaltz “admitted to sexual touching of the victim on the victim’s intimate parts and to having the victim touch her on her intimate parts.”‘

According to previous reporting from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the teacher admitted to having sex with the student on multiple occasions.

Schmaltz was hired by the school district in 2014 and was teaching science at Hermantown Middle School until her resignation was accepted on June 10, 2019, according to Superintendent Wayne Whitwam and district records. She also coached middle school volleyball, Whitwam said.

Charge: Woman had multiple sexual encounters with teen she once taught in Hermantown

The Minnesota teacher resigned from the middle school soon after the student sex relationship was uncovered.

According to The Daily Mail, Schmaltz will have to register as an offender and remain on probation for three years, but will have her felony conviction reduced to a misdemeanor if she does not re-offend.

Her defense attorney said she now works in online sales and is attending therapy.

“She’s sincerely apologetic for her behavior, she recognizes the pain that she caused and she’s doing what she can to put not only herself in a better place, but eventually be able to move forward with her experience and help others,” he said, according to the Duluth News Tribune.

Authorities determined that the sexual acts had been occurring at Schmaltz’s house in Saginaw under the guise that he was there for help with homework and mentoring.

“As soon as April, the vaccine will be available to the entire general population with the exception of places like New York state,” stated President Trump. “…I think it’s very bad from a health standpoint, but he (Cuomo) wants to take his time with the vaccine.”

Even though Operation Warp Speed is using companies with a successful track record and is being vetted by medical experts, Gov. Cuomo has been slow to trust it.

Although Cuomo lacks any formal medical knowledge, he believes it’s in the best interest for New Yorkers to stall on receiving the desperately needed vaccine.

” But he doesn’t trust the fact that it’s this White House, this administration,” President Trump noted. “So, we won’t be delivering it to New York until we have authorization to do so and that pains me to say that.”

It’s not just the President who has been critical of the Democrat governor’s response to the virus. In fact, many bipartisan medical experts have condemned Cuomo’s lack of action.

It was reported that the Cuomo skipped 17 governors-only meetings regarding the virus despite governing one of the states most affected by the outbreak.

The New York governor insisted he has his state under control and said he believes President Trump is taking his initiative to get extra vaccine approval out of context. Cuomo believes New York will not lag on the matter considering they will begin testing the vaccine shortly after the FDA begins to test it.

“Governor Cuomo, will have to let us know when he’s ready for it,” stated the President. “Otherwise, we can’t we can’t be delivering it to a state that won’t be giving it to its people immediately.”

Meanwhile, New York has seen a recent surge in COVID cases and would be one of the state’s to benefit from a vaccine the most.
