On Friday morning, an Arizona Republic reporter was kicked out of Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

This, for committing the horrifying sin of taking a picture of former Rep. Anthony Kern as he recounted our ballots.

Here’s the picture.

Fourteen minutes later, reporter Ryan Randazzo – who was serving as the media’s pool reporter because apparently there isn’t room for more than one in this 14,870-seat arena – was given the bum’s rush from the building.

“Well, a man in a cowboy hat and a badge that said Wake TSI just came over, asked if I tweeted the picture of Anthony Kern, and when I said yes he escorted me out of the building and said my press privileges were ‘revoked’.”

The auditors claim Randazzo violated a court order and somehow compromised voter privacy.

It's doxing to photo a public official?

About as laughable as the notion that what Republicans are calling “America’s audit” – conducted and largely paid for by Trump supporters – is, in any way, credible.

Naturally, Senate President Karen Fann, R-Prescott, was horrified at this morning’s development.

Oh, not that Kern, a #StoptheSteal supporter who was on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on the day Trump supporters stormed the building, was part of the audit team now recounting the votes.

She was horrified that a reporter would dare to show the public he was recounting votes.

“Under agreement with your attorney, media was given wider access with the promise they would not zoom in on workers faces or the ballots,” Fann tweeted. “Some media members have violated that agreement.”

Fann went on to tweet that the media agreed they “would not dox the workers for their safety.”

So now it’s doxing to show you who is handling our ballots? To take a picture of a public figure in a public building involved in what absolutely should be an intensely public process?

dripping with sarcasm....and they wonder why they're not seen as mere reporters of the news.

Kern believes the election was stolen

Fann is flat wrong on the rules the media had to agree to in order to gain access to the audit of Maricopa County's 2.1 million ballots.

“The Arizona Republic never agreed to obscure faces,” Arizona Republic Editor Greg Burton said. “The Senate’s own livestream on the floor shows faces of everybody involved. We agreed not to show ballot details, which we have adhered to, but clearly, you can’t take a picture in a room full of ballots without showing ballots at a distance. Anyone looking at the live feed gets the same view.”

To repeat, the media agreed only not to publish pictures that show “identifiable ballot information.”

The only thing identifiable in Randazzo’s picture is the sheer outrageousness of this whole joke of an Arizona election audit.

Kern, for his part, is asking Attorney General Mark Brnovich to investigate.

If they want to investigate something ...

If Brnovich investigates anything, it should be the legality of allowing private contractors — people who have no expertise in elections except a heartfelt belief that this was one stolen —to take control of Maricopa County's 2.1 million.

Or how about an attorney general investigation into the legality of hiding the names of the people who are donating money to fund this official state audit.

Once upon a time, the public’s business was public information.

Alas, I don’t look to Brnovich to stand up to anybody here. The Republican AG is, after all, expected to run for the Senate next year, and it wouldn’t do to rile the base.

So, to recap, it’s OK for a former Republican legislator who has repeatedly promoted baseless conspiracy theories about how the election was stolen — a guy who actually signed a letter asking Congress not to accept Arizona's electors — to be recounting our votes in this "independent" audit.

But it’s not OK to show the public that he is recounting our votes in this "independent" audit.

As for Randazzo, he’s out, relegated to the Crazy Times Carnival.

Late last week, Gov. Andy Beshear signed Senate Bill 267, which bans doxing when the release of someone's personal information "would cause a reasonable person to be in fear of physical injury to himself or herself, or to his or her immediate family member or household member."'

Doxing, or doxxing, is when someone’s personal information is leaked online as a way to punish or threaten them.

Last November, during a meeting with the Government Oversight and Audit Committee, Joshua Watkins with Louisville's Office for Performance Improvement testified about his role in the city's crime-fighting initiative that led to the deadly raid of Breonna Taylor's apartment on March 13.

Watkins also testified about the aftermath of having his name attached to that incident.

"I've personally gotten death threats about this," he said. "I had to stay in my house for 45 days and keep my head on a swivel."

Anthony Piagentini, R-19, was stunned by Watkins' confession.

Weeks ago, he filed an ordinance that would limit doxing in Louisville when the release of someone's personal information is tied to a veiled threat.

''"It's not just city employees," he explained. "There are many private citizens who have reached out since and told me stories about how they have been, because of maybe a disagreement at work or something else that they posted online, that somebody came after them."

His ordinance dictated that "it shall be unlawful for any person to publish any personally identifying information of a person when: (1) Such publication is intended to threaten or stalk or intended to encourage another to threaten or stalk; and (2) the publication places such person in reasonable fear of physical injury." A person in violation could face a fine (at an amount not to exceed $250).

However, in an unexpected tie vote on March 25, Metro Council voted against the ordinance. Some who voted against it said it would limit free speech and be very hard to enforce.

Today should have been the day our troops came home from Afghanistan. All President Biden had to do was follow the plan. Former President Trump set May 1, 2021 as the day to end our military presence in Afghanistan while the Biden administration moved it to Sept. 11. This push was not due to strategy or inability to execute, the military was aware and had made plans to ensure the original execution date.

It appears this was a decision based solely on politics and an unwillingness to share the victory with the previous administration, as President Biden has not given any sound policy reason for moving the date. President Biden moved this date at the cost of roughly $7.5 billion for those four months, the risk that we lose more lives overseas, and the desecration of a day that should stand alone, unclouded by politics.

I welcome the decision to withdraw, as do thousands of veterans and their family members. All Americans must honor the sacrifice of those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation in that far off land. They are American heroes. But it is well past time for a new approach, not just to Afghanistan but foreign policy and the use of military might.

During my time in the Trump administration, I witnessed firsthand President Trump’s monumental effort to undo decades of groupthink in regard to our efforts in the Middle East. He should have received cooperation, but instead he got pushback from “experts” and senior decision-makers who had made little to no progress in this field. Most fretted too much and too often about what might be lost by moving on from Afghanistan instead of focusing on the costs of not moving on. The result of the former has been nearly two decades of sustained operations, even though it had become increasingly clear that a traditional victory was not possible. The “experts” did nothing more than muddy what should always be our guiding principle: If it isn’t good for America, we shouldn’t do it.

Without any basis in fact, the opinion of far too many was grounded in political bias. The opposition to staying in this forever war was met with internal hesitation and resulted in headlines such as, “Trump's Afghan Troop Withdrawal Is a Gift to the Taliban.” All the while, national security pundits beat the same drum that they’ve been beating for decades now. “Success is just around the corner,” or “Give it one more year,” were their mantras. More troops. More money. More blood, sacrifice, and loss, and no gain for Americans.

It is important to recall that the Taliban are Afghans, and over the past decade we have been trying to nation-build in the midst of what amounts to a civil war. During his presidency, Trump made his intent clear when he announced his South Asia strategy in 2017 stating, “…we will not dictate to the Afghan people how to live or how to govern their own complex society.” But the same national security pundits I mentioned previously, including some senior officials in the Trump administration, pushed back on the president purely out of habit and a flawed view of the strategic environment we faced as a country. Dangerously, while these same pundits were pontificating and were fixated on a future, potential threat in Afghanistan, another very real, present threat emerged: a China focused on economically capturing the world.

Thankfully, Trump pushed back against the momentum of falsehoods and hand-wringing that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) called “deeply resisted change.” He continually tasked his National Security team for solutions to ending the “infinity war.” His objective was to secure an ending that would still preserve our national interests and protect lives.

Ultimately, it was President Trump’s and Secretary of State Michael Pompeo’s efforts that led to the establishment of a Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation.It was President Trump who pushed for direct negotiations with the Taliban. The Trump administration saw zero deaths to American forces from Taliban attacks after his personal involvement secured a key agreement with their forces. His work and his policies put our national security interests above all others and our strategy finally respected the value of human capital that had long been wasted in forever wars. It’s because of this, that an option for a safe, full withdrawal is even possible. President Trump had the grace to call President Biden’s troop withdrawal effort “wonderful,” and it’d be nice for President Biden to do the same.

About 14 separate families or groups of illegal immigrants boarded a flight Thursday at McAllen International Airport in Texas, the man in charge of border security during the Trump administration told The Daily Signal.

Mark Morgan, former commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said he watched from a nearby seat as the illegal immigrants boarded the American Airlines flight just after 3 p.m. CDT at the airport of the border town.

“By the eighth or ninth family is when I decided to take pictures,” Morgan told The Daily Signal on Friday. “I decided to take a video when I saw a large family with an infant child.”

When he witnessed the immigrants boarding the airliner bound for connecting flights at Dallas-Fort Worth, Morgan was traveling with Thomas Homan, acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the Trump administration.

Although the migrant families or groups on the flight didn’t appear to have identification, each held travel documents inside manila envelopes with their flight times and final destination.

That’s a marked difference from U.S. citizens when they board a plane, Morgan said.

The packets held by the migrants bore the words: “PLEASE HELP ME. I DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH.”

At least one boy among the illegal immigrants boarding the flight held a smartphone, video shows. It is not clear whether the illegal immigrants were tested for COVID-19.

The incident witnessed by Morgan is another sign of the border crisis that has consumed much of President Joe Biden’s first 100 days in office. It is not clear how many such flights carrying how many illegal immigrants have flown out of McAllen and other border cities since Biden took office Jan. 20, where the migrants went, or how much it cost.

Such flights occurred under previous administrations, including during the border surge in 2019, Morgan said. But the Trump administration worked to end the practice, he said.

“We had all the tools in place,” Morgan told The Daily Signal. “Now it’s worse than we’ve ever had. During the Trump administration, we did everything we could to stop this. The current administration is trying to better facilitate and prepare [illegal immigrants] for release.”

Open Letter from Physicians to Universities: Allow Students Back Without COVID Vaccine Mandate

Dear Deans, Governing Boards and Trustees,

On behalf of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, I am writing to ask you to reconsider your new policy mandating COVID-19 vaccination of students prior to returning to campus.[i] Institutions of higher learning are divided on this issue.[ii] ,[iii] Although, at first glance, the policy may seem prudent, it coerces students into bearing unneeded and unknown risk and is at heart contrary to the bedrock medical principle of informed consent.

There are multiple reasons to reverse your policy. I ask you to consider the following:

• Young adults are a healthy and immunologically competent and vibrant group that is at, “extraordinary low risk for COVID-19 morbidity and mortality.”[iv]

• College and University students, however, are under significant mental health strain already from COVID-19 fears, circumstances, distance learning problems and the imposition of government health policy restrictions.[v]

• Even though the FDA granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for three COVID-19 vaccines, they are not FDA approved to treat, cure or prevent any disease at this time. Clinical trials will continue for at least two years before the FDA can even consider approval of these vaccines as effective and safe.

• The COVID-19 vaccines on the market in the U.S., mRNA (Moderna and Pfizer) and DNA (Johnson & Johnson – Janssen), have caused notable side effects, pathology and even death (>2300 deaths per VAERS as of April 20, 2021). These adverse reactions result in absence from school and work, hospital visits, and even loss of life.[vi]

• College-age women may be at unique risk for adverse events following administration of the experimental COVID vaccinations currently available. According to the CDC, all cases of life-threatening blood clots, subsequent to receiving the J&J vaccine, reported so far in the United States, occurred in younger women.[vii] The vast majority of cases of anaphylaxis have also occurred in women.[viii] In addition, “women are reporting having irregular menstrual cycles after getting the coronavirus vaccine,”[ix] and 95 miscarriages have been reported to the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Effects Reporting System (VAERS) following COVID vaccination as of April 24, 2021.[x]

• Recent research data demonstrates that the spike protein, present on the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the induced primary mechanism of action of COVID-19 vaccines, are the primary cause of disease, infirmity, hospitalization and death.[xi]

• Students who have had self-limited cases of COVID-19 already possess antibodies, activated B-cells, activated T-cells (detectable by lab testing). This durable, long-term immunity would not only prevent them from getting recurrent COVID-19, but would also represent herd immunity to protect others in the college or university community.[xii],[xiii]

• COVID-19 convalescent students may be harmed by college and university policy requiring COVID-19 vaccines.[xiv] They already have extensive immunity and would be likely harmed from a forced confrontation with COVID-19 vaccine induced spike protein causing autoimmune reactions leading to illness and possible death.[xv]

• Students and their families may justifiably believe these policies discriminate against individuals who aren’t candidates for this vaccine, have pre-existing conditions, previous COVID-19 disease, cite religious objections, or are otherwise exercising their freewill choosing not to participate in this optional vaccine experiment. Refer to the Nuremberg code from WWII, which requires individuals, “to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force….”[xvi]

• Institutional policies that permit faculty to choose or refuse vaccination, but do not allow students the same options, raise equal protection constitutional issues.

• The ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act, requires “reasonable accommodations,” be provided based on an individual’s own unique health situation. This includes rejection of an experimental vaccine intervention which may exacerbate known health problems and thereby cause harm.

• Colleges and Universities should consider whether they might be liable for damages, poor health outcomes, and loss of life due to mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policies.[xvii

]

• “Positive cases,” as defined by laboratory testing alone, may be false positive testing errors or asymptomatic infection that is not clinically proven to spread disease.

• Ambulatory outpatient early treatment for SARS-CoV-2 infection / COVID-19 has been demonstrated effective in adults.[xviii]

• Informed consent is the standard for all medical interventions. The FDA factsheet for the healthcare provider reads, “The recipient or their caregiver has the option to accept or refuse (Pfizer-BioNTech) vaccine.”

Please reverse your decision to mandate experimental COVID-19 vaccines before more students are harmed and make the vaccines rightfully optional. Both unvaccinated and vaccinated students should be permitted on campus. Thank you for your time and attention. We would appreciate hearing back from you as soon as possible and welcome further discussion with you and other leaders at your institution.
