Twitter May Remove Unverified Election Result Claims

 

Twitter said Thursday it may remove unverified postings claiming electoral victory as part of a stepped-up effort to protect democracy, less than two months ahead of the US presidential vote.

 

The social media firm said that under a new policy in effect from next week, "we will label or remove false or misleading information intended to undermine public confidence in an election or other civic process."

 

This will include "false or misleading information that causes confusion about the laws and regulations of a civic process," as well as "disputed claims that could undermine faith in the process itself, e.g. unverified information about election rigging, ballot tampering, vote tallying, or certification of election results."

 

The move comes amid rising concerns about when results will be verified for the Nov. 3 presidential election, in view of an expected large volume of mail-in ballots and criticism of that process by President Donald Trump.

 

The new policy also bans "misleading claims about the results" or interference with the electoral process such as "claiming victory before election results have been certified, inciting unlawful conduct to prevent a peaceful transfer of power or orderly succession."

 

Some analysts have suggested that Trump, who has a large social media following, may reject the results of the election or refuse to leave office if he loses.

 

The move by Twitter comes with social media firms facing pressure to deal with Trump's posts, which critics say could undermine the voting process, including his questioning the validity of mail-in ballots.

 

Both Twitter and Facebook have placed labels on Trump comments about mail-in voting.

 

The Twitter Safety team said it expects to take a strict approach to the updated policies.

 

"We will not permit our service to be abused around civic processes, most importantly elections," the company said.

 

"Any attempt to do so both foreign and domestic will be met with strict enforcement of our rules, which are applied equally and judiciously for everyone."

NY Gov. Cuomo reverses course: Allows restaurants to reopen at 25% capacity

 

Facing a class-action lawsuit from hundreds of New York City restaurant owners, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announces indoor dining can reopen this month.

 

β€œOpening restaurants, I understand the economic benefit. I understand the economic pressure that there’s a whole industry around restaurants. We’re now announcing today that we can go to 25 percent of indoor dining,” said Gov. Cuomo in a press briefing.

 

But is the 25 percent capacity cap too little, too late to help the industry recover?

 

Gov. Cuomo described some of the protocols put in place, to ensure that this reopening is safe. There will be mandatory temperature checks at the door. Imagine for a moment that there is a foreign government that receives billions of dollars a year in β€œaid” and other benefits from the United States taxpayer. Consider beyond that, the possibility that that government might take part of the money it receives and secretly recycle it to groups of American citizens in the United States that exist to maintain and increase that money flow while also otherwise serving other interests of the recipient country. That would mean that the United States is itself subsidizing the lobbies and groups that are inevitably working against its own interests. And it also means that U.S. citizens are acting as foreign agents, covertly giving priority to their attachment to a foreign country instead of to the nation in which they live.

 

I am, of course, referring to Israel. It does not require a brilliant observer to note how Israel and its allies inside the U.S. have become very skilled at milking the government in the United States at all levels for every bit of financial aid, trade concessions, military hardware and political cover that is possible to obtain. The flow of dollars, goods, and protection is never actually debated in any serious way and is often, in fact, negotiated directly by Congress or state legislatures directly with the Israeli lobbyists. This corruption and manipulation of the U.S. governmental system by people who are basically foreign agents is something like a criminal enterprise and one can only imagine the screams of outrage coming from the New York Times if there were a similar arrangement with any other country.

 

The latest revelation about Israel’s cheating involves subsidies that were paid covertly by Israeli government agencies to groups in the United States which in turn took direction from the Jewish state, often inter alia damaging genuine American interests. The groups involved failed to disclose the payments, which is a felony. They also failed to register under the terms of the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938, which mandates penalties for groups and individuals acting on behalf of foreign governments. In particular, FARA mandates that the finances and relationships of the foreign affiliated organization be open to Department of the Justice inspection. It states that β€œany person who acts as an agent, representative, employee, or servant, or otherwise acts at the order, request, or under the direction or control of a foreign principal.” Those who fail to disclose might be penalized by up to five years in prison and fines up to $250,000.

 

Israel’s various friends and proxies, uniquely, have been de facto exempt from any regulation by the U.S. government. The last serious attempt to register a major lobbying entity was made by John F. Kennedy, who sought to have the predecessor organization to today’s American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) comply with FARA. Kennedy was killed before he could complete the process.

SKDKnickerbocker, a political strategy firm hired by the campaigns of Biden and many other Democratic candidates, was targeted over a period of two months, starting in July. Microsoft said it detected the attempts and alerted the targets, identifying the hackers as likely tied to the Russian government.

 

None of the attempted breaches was successful, and representatives of both the firm and Biden’s campaign declined to comment, Reuters said.

 

It’s still unclear whether the target was Biden’s campaign or one of the company's other clients, but Russian hackers have a history of supporting President Trump. The Mueller investigation found that during the 2016 presidential election, Russian hackers breached Democratic computer networks, attempted to coordinate with the Trump campaign, and spread disinformation and division through social media.

Twitter announced the upcoming changes in a blog post today, titled β€œexpanding our policies to further protect the civic conversation.”

The Chinese Government has accused Australian officials of obstructing their law enforcement agencies when they sheltered two Australian journalists in diplomatic compounds last week.

The ABC's Bill Birtles and the Australian Financial Review's Mike Smith arrived in Sydney on Tuesday morning after a five-day diplomatic stand-off between the two countries.

 

Several Australian Government ministers have praised the way Australian diplomats handled the negotiations and secured permission for both correspondents to leave China.

 

But on Thursday night, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said Australia's decision to shelter both men on diplomatic premises while the talks progressed was "an interference in China's internal affairs and judicial sovereignty".

 

"Australia's actions in organising the two journos to hide in the embassy completely exceeds the scope of consular protection and in fact is interference in a Chinese legal case," he said.

 

"This practice is inconsistent with the status and identity of the Australian embassy in China."

 

Birtles and Smith both took refuge with Australian diplomats after they were slapped with travel bans and Chinese Ministry of State Security officers demanded the pair submit to questioning.

 

Australian and Chinese officials negotiated for days before reaching an agreement to lift the bans in exchange for the two journalists agreeing to be interviewed.

 

Both men say they were asked about Australian TV presenter Cheng Lei, who worked for Chinese state broadcaster CGTN and has been detained on suspicion of endangering national security.

 

Birtles and Smith had met Cheng Lei, but neither knew her well. Both men said they believed they were being deliberately harassed by the Chinese Government.

 

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade had previously warned the ABC and Nine, owner of the Australian Financial Review, that there were risks to Birtles and Smith's safety if they remained in China.

 

One Australian Government source dismissed the Chinese Foreign Ministry's latest attack and said the embassy simply relied on universally accepted principles of diplomatic protection.

 

A spokesman for Foreign Minister Marise Payne declined to comment.

 

The saga has fed into the increasingly poisonous relationship between Australia and China. This week Beijing also lashed out at Australia over an investigation into a foreign interference which has embroiled a number of Chinese journalists and academics in Australia.

 

Australian Government officials suspect that the Chinese Government's attempt to harass and intimidate Birtles and Smith was – in part β€” retaliation for that investigation.

Mention terrorism and most Americans will instantly think of Islamist extremists. On Friday the US will commemorate the 19th anniversary of the September 11 2001 terror attacks. In reality, America should nowadays be far more worried about far-right threats. Two-thirds of its terrorist incidents last year were carried out by homegrown extremists from the far-right. That rose to 90 per cent in the first five months of this year.

 

Many of these were inspired directly or implicitly by QAnon, the extremist cult that is often downplayed as a fringe conspiracy group. That label should be kept for UFO spotters and people who think the British royal family killed Diana, Princess of Wales. As the FBI has concluded, QAnon bears all the ingredients of a β€œdomestic terror threat”.

 

In contrast to any comparable threat, QAnon has the sympathy of senior US figures, including, implicitly, that of Donald Trump. Whether the president knows much about the group’s bizarre cult theology is beside the point. He retweets them and welcomes their support.

 

The great danger to the US will come if Mr Trump loses in November as opinion polls indicate is likely. In QAnon theology, that will be the equivalent of the infidels occupying the Holy Land. QAnon’s world view is literally predicated on Mr Trump as their only hope of defeating the satanic forces that control America’s deep state.

 

Many Americans do not take the threat seriously. This is despite the fact that QAnon-inspired gunmen have carried out or attempted several recent attacks. Most of the successful white nationalist attackers, including in Christchurch, New Zealand, have issued manifestos on 8chan, or 4chan, QAnon’s preferred websites, using similar rationales to the group.

 

That also applies to the rightwing extremist who killed 23 Hispanics in a shopping mall in Texas last year. Another killed 11 Jewish worshippers in a Pittsburgh synagogue the year before. There have been dozens of smaller incidents or foiled plots. Americans are used to screening out white perpetrators as lone wolves or people with mental health problems.

FBI agents swarm home in high-end Ludlow neighborhood on Harvest Drive

 

LUDLOW β€” The pretty home at 14 Harvest Drive appears an idyllic spot to raise a family, replete with a porch swing, lawn games and a basketball hoop on the side.

 

But, the image was sullied when dozens of FBI agents swarmed the house on Wednesday.

 

Law enforcement cars with darkened windows dotted the street and clogged the driveway. One vehicle towed a large trailer filled with buckets and other equipment flush with the large white house, which sits in a tony neighborhood of mostly new construction.

 

Agents with guns holstered carried boxes and other containers in and out of the house through the afternoon. A spokeswoman for the FBI in Boston confirmed a search was ongoing but declined to provide further details.

 

β€œMembers of the FBI’s Hazardous Evidence Response Team are on Harvest Drive in Ludlow conducting court-authorized activity in connection with an ongoing federal investigation,” said FBI spokeswoman Kristen M. Setera. β€œThere is no threat to public safety.”

 

Agents visible from the street were not wearing haz-mat suits. Setera said no updates on the investigation would come today.

 

No arrests have been reported.

 

The owners of the home are listed on town assessor’s records as Tim and Tina Whitney. They could not immediately be reached for comment and it is unclear whether they have attorneys.

The tweet came after the Pentagon notified Stars and Stripes that it’s final newspaper publication will be released this month. On Friday morning, USA Today reported that the Pentagon distributed a memo to the publication instructing the publisher to craft a plan to dissolve the publication.

 

The memo, written by Col. Paul Haverstick Jr., added that the publication’s last issue in all forms would be Sept. 30.

 

Stars and Stripes confirmed to Military Times it received the memo in August. Stars and Stripes Ombudsman Ernie Gates said in an email to Military Times earlier Friday shutting the publication β€œdown would be fatal interference and permanent censorship of a unique First Amendment organization that has served U.S. troops reliably for generations” and urged the Pentagon and Congress to continue its funding.

 

The Pentagon revealed in February that its budget request would cut more than $15 million Stars and Stripes receives annually, totaling approximately $8.7 million in operations and maintenance funds and roughly $6.9 million in overseas contingency operations.

 

However, lawmakers voiced support for the funding. For example, the House’s version of the fiscal year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act that passed in July includes the $15.5 million to fund the military newspaper, as does the House appropriations bill.

The tech billionaires, not content to simply cough up untold millions in direct political contributions, are also funding massive voter drives, promoting mail-in balloting, creating divisive partisan news sites, aiding and designing the Democrat party’s digital campaigns and unabashedly censoring the social media accounts of the Trump campaign and innumerable conservatives.

 

The political party they are gleefully underwriting in order to oust Trump is no longer the party of the middle and working class (which is now one and the same) but a two-tier assemblage in which the prey is sleeping with the predator. The witless wealthy and socially aware are in bed with the avowed socialists and militant Marxists. What is holding this marriage of convenience together is a mutual hatred of Donald Trump and the undoable promises made by Joe Biden and the Democrat party hierarchy.

 

In a 2019 meeting with 100 super-wealthy potential donors, Biden assured the gathering that he would not demonize the rich and would only increase their taxes slightly while ensuring that their standard of living would not be affected by any of his policies. NFL Player Fraudulently Obtained $1.2 Million in Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program Loan

 

A National Football League (NFL) player has been charged for his alleged participation in a scheme to file fraudulent loan applications seeking more than $24 million in forgivable Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans guaranteed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

 

Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian C. Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Ariana Fajardo Orshan of the Southern District of Florida, Special Agent in Charge Michael J. De Palma of the IRS-Criminal Investigation (CI) Miami Field Office, Special Agent in Charge George L. Piro of FBI’s Miami Field Office, and Special Agent in Charge Kevin A. Kupperbusch of the U.S. SBA-Office of Inspector General (OIG), Investigations Division, Eastern Regional Office, made the announcement.

 

Joshua J. Bellamy, 31, of St. Petersburg, Florida, a player in the NFL, was charged in a federal criminal complaint filed in the Southern District of Florida with wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud. Bellamy was arrested this morning and will appear today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Christopher Tuite of the Middle District of Florida.

 

The complaint alleges that Bellamy conspired with others to obtain millions of dollars in fraudulent PPP loans. Early in the scheme, Phillip J. Augustin allegedly obtained a fraudulent PPP loan for his talent management company using falsified documents. After submitting that application, Augustin then began to work with other co-conspirators, including Bellamy, on a scheme to submit numerous fraudulent PPP loan applications for confederate loan applicants, in order to receive kickbacks for obtaining the forgivable loans for them.

 

Bellamy is alleged to have obtained a PPP loan of $1,246,565 for his own company, Drip Entertainment LLC. Bellamy allegedly purchased over $104,000 in luxury goods using proceeds of his PPP loan, including purchases at Dior, Gucci, and jewelers. He is also alleged to have spent approximately $62,774 in PPP loan proceeds at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and to have withdrawn over $302,000. Bellamy also allegedly sought PPP loans on behalf of his family members and close associates.

 

The complaint alleges that the scheme involved the preparation of at least 90 fraudulent applications, most of which were submitted. Augustin, Bellamy, and other conspirators in the scheme are alleged to have applied for PPP loans that are together worth more than $24 million dollars. Many of those loan applications were approved and funded by financial institutions, paying out at least $17.4 million.

919 pounds of methamphetamine seized by DEA before reaching the streets of West Texas and New Mexico

 

WASHINGTON – Today, Attorney General William P. Barr and Drug Enforcement Administration Acting Administrator Timothy J. Shea announced the results of Operation Crystal Shield, DEA’s six-month-long effort targeting the command and control elements of Mexican cartels that operate major methamphetamine β€œtransportation hubs” in the United States.

 

At a press conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Attorney General Barr and Acting Administrator Shea announced that in just six months, Operation Crystal Shield generated a total of more than 750 investigations, resulting in nearly 1,840 arrests and the seizure of more than 28,560 pounds of methamphetamine, $43.3 million in drug proceeds, and 284 firearms.

 

In the DEA El Paso Division alone, which covers West Texas and New Mexico, DEA conducted 101 investigations, made 176 arrests, and seized 919 pounds of methamphetamine, $ 1,165,777 in drug proceeds, and 19 firearms.

 

β€œIn the months leading up to the launch of Operation Crystal Shield, communities across the United States experienced a surge of methamphetamine,” said Acting Administrator Timothy J. Shea. β€œThe COVID pandemic locked down many communities and impacted legitimate businesses, but the drug trade continued. Under difficult conditions, DEA – along with our federal, state, and local partners – never stopped working as we helped stem the flow of methamphetamine onto our streets, even as violent drug traffickers sought new ways to smuggle it into the United States. The success of Operation Crystal Shield reflects the devotion of DEA and our partners to protect our communities from the scourge of drug trafficking and violent crime under any circumstances.”

 

β€œMethamphetamine abuse destroys lives and seriously affects the quality of life in communities where it takes hold,” said Kyle W. Williamson, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s El Paso Division. β€œBy disrupting distribution networks, seizing their profits and putting dealers behind bars, DEA and its law enforcement partners are keeping dangerous drugs like methamphetamine off the streets and making communities safer.”

 

DEA launched Operation Crystal Shield on February 20, after identifying nine major methamphetamine trafficking hubs: Atlanta, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Diego and St. Louis. Together these nine cities accounted for more than 75 percent of methamphetamine seized by DEA in 2019. Under this operation, DEA directed enforcement resources to these cities where methamphetamine is often trafficked in bulk and then distributed across the country.

 

Operation Crystal Shield leveraged existing DEA initiatives that target major drug trafficking networks, including the Mexican cartels that are responsible for the overwhelming majority of methamphetamine trafficked into and within the United States. From FY 2017 to FY 2019, DEA domestic seizures of methamphetamine increased 127 percent from 49,507 pounds to 112,146 pounds. During the same timeframe, the number of DEA arrests related to methamphetamine increased by nearly 20 percent.

Frens, I'm in a funk today. Q posts are always exciting, but this one has me feeling off. Maybe I'm misreading it. Voter fraud has me spooked. (They) are evil, desperate, and will show no restraint in doing something catastrophic in order to self-protect.

 

I have faith that God wins, but today I need a shot of "Patriots are in control" or something.
