DEA Announces Biggest Meth Bust in US History With 10-Foot-High Pile of Drugs

 

Agents seized more than 4,800 pounds of meth nationwide and are still working on more arrests, according to the DEA.

 

Federal authorities on Wednesday showed off results of Southern California raids early this month that led to the biggest domestic seizure of methamphetamine in U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration history.

The 2,224 pounds (1,008.7 kilograms) of methamphetamine was seized Oct.. 2 during an investigation of a drug-trafficking organization with ties to the Sinaloa cartel, the DEA said in a statement.

The investigation led to search warrants being served at narcotics stash houses in the Riverside County cities of Moreno Valley and Perris, east of Los Angeles.

Also seized were 893 pounds (405 kilograms) of cocaine and 13 pounds (5.9 kilograms) of heroin.

DEA Acting Administrator Timothy J. Shea and other law enforcement officials displayed the evidence during a press conference at a DEA warehouse in Montebello.

“The largest DEA domestic seizure of methamphetamine in history is a significant blow to the cartels, but more importantly it is a gigantic victory for communities throughout Southern California and the United States who have had to deal with the torrent of methamphetamine coming into their neighborhoods,” Shea said.

San Diego's Border Busts

Bill Bodner, special agent in charge of the DEA's Los Angeles Field Division, said Los Angeles is a major transshipment hub for Mexican cartels trafficking illegal drugs across the southwest border.

“Successful seizures like these save lives and reduce the exploitation and victimization of our local communities,” Bodner said.

The DEA's big bust came just a week before another huge meth seizure.

On Oct. 9, U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped a truck crossing from Mexico into the United States at San Diego's Otay Mesa and found 3,014 pounds (1,367.1 kilograms) of methamphetamine, the agency said Sunday.

The truck also contained 64 pounds (29 kilograms) of heroin, 29 pounds (13.1 kilograms) of fentanyl powder and almost 37 pounds (16.7 kilograms) of fentanyl pills, the agency said.

Are Early Voting Numbers A Harbinger Of What's To Come On Election Day?

 

With less than three weeks until Election Day, many states are already seeing historic levels of early voting.

 

According to figures from 35 states and the District of Columbia, compiled by the Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal, 8.8 million people have voted by mail in the general election and 962,000 have headed to polling places early to cast ballots. For comparison, more than 58 million early ballots were cast in 2016.

 

Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Virginia have already received more early ballots than they did in the 2016 presidential election. Several other states have topped 2016 numbers for mail-in ballots returned, even as in-person early voting is opening up in much of the country.

 

Counting the Votes: The unprecedented influx of early balloting, in person and especially by mail, is presenting a logistical challenge for local election officials. How they handle it is likely to figure in whether voters will see a protracted wait for results beyond Election Day in the presidential race, especially from closely fought battleground states.

 

Election officials are already talking about “Election Week” rather than “Election Day.” They are also urging voters to view lengthy counts in close contests as normal.

 

States have raced to ramp up, buying extra machines to tabulate votes, adding extra staff to count ballots, and in some cases, extending deadlines. Those rule changes are setting off partisan court battles in key states that will determine which votes count and are adding uncertainty as voters cast ballots in droves.

IRS Slaps Baltimore City's Top Prosecutor With Lien For Years Of Unpaid Taxes

 

According to The Baltimore Sun, the IRS has filed a lien against Baltimore City's top prosecutor for years of unpaid taxes.

 

Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby and husband Nick Mosby - Democratic nominee for City Council president - were slapped with a $45,000 lien via the IRS for three years of unpaid taxes. The lien showed the Mosbys owe $23,000 for 2014, more than $19,000 for 2015, and about $3,000 for 2016.

 

The Mosbys released a statement to members of the press from their respective offices that read:

 

"I have been in ongoing conversations with the IRS for five years about the tax consequences of an early withdrawal from my retirement savings plan, which I did to support unplanned expenses after a series of family tragedies," the statement said. "I expect to have the issue resolved in the coming days."

 

Fox 45 News points out, as per Maryland State Constitution, there is a possibility Marilyn Mosby could be removed from office:

 

" There shall be an Attorney for the State in each county and the City of Baltimore, to be styled "The State's Attorney," who shall be elected by the voters thereof, respectively, and shall hold his office for four years from the first Monday in January next ensuing his election, and until his successor shall be elected and qualified; and shall be re-eligible thereto, and be subject to removal therefrom, for incompetency, willful neglect of duty, or misdemeanor in office, on conviction in a Court of Law, or by a vote of two-thirds of the Senate, on the recommendation of the Attorney-General (amended by Chapter 99, Acts of 1956, ratified Nov. 6, 1956; Chapter 681, Acts of 1977, ratified Nov. 7, 1978)," part of the constitution reads.

 

Unpaid taxes are not the only probe swirling above the Mosbys; Marilyn is under investigation for having accepted luxury travel trips, free of charge. In the last two years, she's traveled to Germany, Portugal, Africa, and Scotland.

 

"When Operation Crime and Justice first reported on State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby's extensive travel and side business, FOX 45 News filed several public information requests for pertinent documents," FOX 45 reported in September.

 

"Those requests were not fulfilled," Fox 45 said. "Instead, the State's Attorney's Office asked for thousands of dollars in exchange for certain public records, including $6,480 for specific email records and $156,000 for copies of Mosby's work calendar.

 

Marilyn has served half of her four-year term as the city's top prosecutor as she is now being investigated for potential ethics violations.

 

Readers may recall Marilyn mishandled the Freedie Gray case, where a young Black male died in police custody on April 2015. Uproar in the community of the death of Gray resulted in weeks of riots around the metro area.

 

And if the mounting potential ethics violations for Mosby wasn't enough for the liberal-run city, the former mayor, Catherine Pugh, is serving a three-year prison sentence for her book fraud scheme.

Blue Star Strategies Emerges Again in Hunter Biden Email Story Discovered by NY Post

 

In this newest NY Post story connected to the Hunter Biden computer saga, the Post is reporting that the Obama Administration allowed a Democrat connected Washington PR firm to participate in a conference call regarding the planning of the details of an upcoming visit by Vice President Joe Biden to the Ukraine.

 

The company, Blue Star Strategies, was hired by Burisma in November 2015, after Hunter Biden joined the Burisma Board of Directors. Blue Star’s task was to improve the “image” of Burisma and it’s oligarch owner, Mykola Zlochevsky both in Ukraine and the United States.

 

The Obama administration let a Democratic p.r. company that worked for Ukrainian energy firm Burisma take part in a conference call about an upcoming visit to Ukraine by then-Vice President Joe Biden, emails obtained by The Post show.

 

An associate at Blue Star Strategies then emailed a memo with minutes of the conference call hosted by the White House to a top Burisma executive, Vadym Pozharskyi, as well as to Joe Biden’s son Hunter and Hunter’s business partner, Devon Archer, both of whom sat on Burisma’s board.

 

The trip, in December 2015, turned out to be the one during which Biden later bragged about forcing Ukrainian officials to fire a state prosecutor who was investigating Burisma by threatening to withhold a $1 billion US loan guarantee.

 

The memo, sent shortly after the Dec. 2, 2015, call, also “outlined the trip’s agenda and addressed several questions regarding US policy toward Ukraine.”

 

Blue Star has said it began working for Burisma and contacting Ukrainian officials on its behalf in November 2015, and an email shows that on Nov. 18, 2015, Pozharskyi sent the Blue Star contract to Hunter Biden, Archer and Eric Schwerin, president of the Rosemont Seneca Partners investment firm.

 

In April 2014, Hunter Biden joined the Board of Burisma.

 

At the end of 2014, Zlochevsky fled Ukraine amid allegations of unlawful self-enrichment during his tenure as Ecology and Natural Resources Minister. It was alleged that Burisma obtained certain leases of government land with huge natural gas reserves as a result of Zlochevsky’s position. In January 2015, Ukraine Prosecutor General Vitaly Yarema announced that Zlochevsky had been put on the wanted list for alleged financial corruption.

 

Blue Star Strategies was founded by Karen Tramotano and Sally Painter. From 1997 to 2001, Tramontano served in the White House as deputy chief of staff to President Clinton, and later led his transition team to his new offices in New York after the 2000 election. From 1993 to 1995, Painter was a senior advisor in the Clinton Administration where she managed the Office of Business Liaison’s outreach and advocacy program for the Commerce Department, providing strategic advice and advocacy for U.S companies bidding on overseas contracts.

 

In a State Department emailed dated Feb. 24, 2016 — during the Obama Administration — obtained pursuant to a FOIA request, a State Department official wrote:

 

“Karen Tramontano of Blue Star Strategies requested a meeting to discuss with [Under Secretary] Novelli [U.S. Government] remarks alleging Burisma (Ukrainian energy company) of corruption. She noted that two high profile U.S. citizens are affiliated with the company (including Hunter Biden as a board member). Tramontano would like to talk with U/S Novelli about getting a better understanding of how the U.S. came to the determination that the company is corrupt. According to Tramontano, there is no evidence of corruption, has been no hearing or process, and evidence to the contrary has not been considered.”

 

John Solomon reported in September of last year that Hunter Biden was serving on the Blue Star Strategies Board of Directors at the same time he was on the Burisma board — and at the same time, Burisma was paying large sums to Blue Star to help with its image in the United States. Solomon had obtained hundreds of pages of communications and emails involving the work done on its behalf Burisma by Blue Star — including communications between Burisman’s US lawyers, Blue Star, and the US Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine. Some of these communications were taking place in the time frame during which Joe Biden traveled to Ukraine, and later bragged about forcing the Ukraine government to fire the top prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was seemingly conducting a corruption investigation of Burisma and its owner.

Trump Vs Deep State: Will Trump Upend Neocolonial World Order?

 

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney released an extraordinary statement on Tuesday, decrying a political scene he said “has moved away from spirited debate to a vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass, that is unbecoming of any free nation.” “The world is watching America with abject horror,” he added.

 

Romney tweeted his statement under the title “My thoughts on the current state of our politics.” “I have stayed quiet,” he said, “with the approach of the election.” “But I’m troubled by our politics,” the sole Republican to vote to impeach Trump added in his statement.

 

“The president calls the Democratic vice-presidential candidate ‘a monster’. He repeatedly labels the Speaker of the House ‘crazy.’ He calls for the justice department to put the prior president in jail. He attacks the governor of Michigan on the very day a plot is discovered to kidnap her. Democrats launch blistering attacks of their own, though their presidential nominee refuses to stoop as low as others,” Romney, a Utah senator who was the 2012 Republican nominee for president, complained in the statement.

 

Though superficially trying to appear “fair and balanced” in the didactic sermon patronizingly delivered by the only adult in the room full of political upstarts, Romney’s perceptible bias in the polemical diatribe was hard not to be noticed.

 

It defies explanation if he didn’t watch the presidential debate or consciously elided over the sordid episode where the Democratic presidential nominee contemptuously sneered at his political rival with derogatory epithets such as "a clown, a racist and Putin's puppy."

 

I’m not sure if Biden was high on meth during the debate, as Trump had repeatedly been insinuating, or he lacks basic etiquette to act like a dignified statesman, but only amphetamines could make a person take leave of his senses and insolently yell at the president of the US, “Will you shut up, man,” while ironically complaining, “This is so unpresidential.”

 

Though a longtime Republican senator, Mitt Romney’s loyalty to the GOP was compromised due to a personal spat with Trump. In the Republican primaries of the 2016 US presidential elections, Romney severely castigated Trump, calling him “a phony and a fraud.”

 

After Trump was elected president, he dangled the carrot of the secretary of state appointment to Romney, invited him to a dinner in a swanky New York restaurant, made him eat his words and fawn all over Trump like a servile toady. But later, he gave one of the most coveted appointments in the US bureaucratic hierarchy to oil executive Rex Tillerson.

 

Romney felt humiliated to the extent that in Trump’s vulnerable moment, after impeachment proceedings were initiated against him in the Senate in February, Romney became the only US senator in the American political history who voted against his own Republican Party president.

 

Though lacking intellect and often ridiculed for frequent spelling errors on his Twitter timeline, such as “unpresidented” and “covfefe,” implying he gets his news feed from television talk shows and rarely reads book and articles, Donald Trump is street smart and his anti-globalization agenda and down-to-earth attitude appeal to the American working classes.

 

Nevertheless, it’s quite easy for the neuroscientists on the payroll of the national security establishment to manipulate the minds of such impressionable politicians and lead them by the nose to toe the line of the deep state, particularly on foreign policy matters. No wonder national security shills disparagingly sneer at the president as the “toddler-in-chief.”

 

In 2017, a couple of caricatures went viral on social media. In one of those caricatures, Donald Trump was depicted as a child sitting on a chair and Vladimir Putin was shown whispering something into Trump’s ears from behind. In the other, Trump was portrayed sitting in Steve Bannon’s lap and the latter was shown mumbling into Trump’s ears, “Who is the big boy now?” And Trump was shown replying, “I am the big boy.”

Justice Clarence Thomas: Section 230 Protections for Big Tech Are Too Broad

 

 

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas argued that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) is applied too broadly to social media companies in a recent letter. The law, which was passed at the beginning of the dot-com era, allows internet companies to avoid liability for content that has been posted by users on their platform. According to Thomas, “many courts have construed the law broadly to confer sweeping immunity on some of the largest companies in the world.”

 

According to a report by Axios, Justice Clarence Thomas suggested that Section 230 of the CDA should be narrowed. Section 230 grants broad legal protections to social media companies with regard to content posted by users.

 

In a statement issued in response to a petition for writ of certiorari, Justice Thomas argued that Section 230 declares that social media platforms are not “publishers,” which means that they cannot be held liable for content posted by their users. Some industry analysts have suggested that platforms should be responsible for certain content on their platform, and for the censorship of content from their platforms, an act that makes them a publisher instead of a platform.

 

Enacted at the dawn of the dot-com era, §230 contains two subsections that protect computer service providers from some civil and criminal claims. The first is definitional. It states, “No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.” §230(c)(1). This provision ensures that a company (like an e-mail provider) can host and transmit thirdparty content without subjecting itself to the liability that sometimes attaches to the publisher or speaker of unlawful content.

 

Justice Thomas went on to argue that many courts around the nation have construed the law too broadly, offering liability protection to some of the most powerful companies in the world.

 

“When Congress enacted the statute, most of today’s major Internet platforms did not exist. And in the 24 years since, we have never interpreted this provision,” Justice Thomas wrote. “But many courts have construed the law broadly to confer sweeping immunity on some of the largest companies in the world.”

 

Breitbart News reported in June that the Department of Justice was preparing a proposal that would repeal Section 230 of the CDA. A reversal would likely have a major impact on popular social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

Report: LAPD Limits Time-Off Requests Ahead Of Any Potential Election Disruptions

 

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – LAPD officers have been advised about possibly needing to reschedule vacation time around the upcoming election ahead of any potential civil unrest, according to a report Wednesday.

 

The Los Angeles Times says a bulletin was put out to officers announcing restrictions on time off for what officials have designated as “special event” dates from Nov. 2-9.

 

Sources told the Times there was no specific threat linked to the Nov. 3 election.

Denver’s New Life

Mr. Denver spent much of the 1980s fighting for environmental causes, often with much success. However, his past would not let go.

 

Two years ago, it was revealed that the 1990 thriller Jacob’s Ladder starring Tim Robbins was loosely based on private interviews with John Denver. Screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin brilliantly crafted Mr. Denver’s re-occurring nightmares into what has become the de facto psychological horror film of the 1990s and beyond.

 

The film’s protagonist, Jacob, is a Vietnam veteran whose experiences before and during the war result in strange, fragmentary flashbacks and bizarre hallucinations that continue to haunt him. As his ordeal worsens, Jacob desperately attempts to figure out the truth. The film’s themes are a religious allegory of Denver’s life and songs.

 

Denver was killed on October 12, 1997, when his experimental plane crashed into Monterey Bay off the California coast. Although he had over 2700 hours of flight experience, and notwithstanding his long family pedigree with flight, he was not legally permitted to operate the vehicle at the time.

 

During this period, it was also widely publicized that he had an alcohol problem, an affliction common with people who have PTSD. Authorities concluded that alcohol was not a factor in his crash, but determined that Mr. Denver had carelessly failed to refuel his aircraft correctly.

 

He received many posthumous awards, but not until recently was he recognized for his bravery on the battlefield.

Daryl Maguire tells ICAC he discussed property deals with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian

 

Disgraced former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire has told a corruption inquiry he discussed property deals with the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian in 2017, when they were in a relationship.

He also told Mr Alha to write a letter to the Planning Minister

This is Mr Maguire's second day of giving evidence to the corruption watchdog

 

Mr Maguire said he had general discussions with Ms Berejiklian about his debts at the time, to "seek reassurance" about what he was doing.

 

He also told the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) he talked to the Premier about "what I was thinking of doing with property or trying to solve some issues".

 

The hearing was played a telephone intercept from September 5, 2017, in which Mr Maguire informed the Premier he'd "make enough money to pay off my debts" after "getting the Badgerys Creek stuff done".

 

Mr Maguire has told the commission he stood to receive a payment of up to $1.5 million related to the sale of land around Badgerys Creek.

 

When asked if the pair were still in a close personal relationship, Mr Maguire answered "not after the events of this I wouldn’t be".

 

Mr Maguire told the corruption watchdog his five-year relationship with Ms Berejiklian was "on-again, off-again".

 

Mr Maguire told the inquiry he kept Ms Berejiklian informed in general conversations about his business deals, as she was one of the few friends he could "seek assurance" or "raise things with".

 

Commissioner Ruth McColl said: "She was one of the people you could discuss your future with?"

 

"Yes," replied Mr Maguire.

 

Mr Maguire said he had made up his mind to retire at the 2019 but he hadn't told anyone of his plans, although he had broached the subject with the Premier.

 

"I was going regardless, in my mind I wanted to get out. I needed to get out," he said.

 

The commission has now closed hearings to the public in order to hear evidence which may intrude on the privacy of Mr Maguire and Ms Berejiklian.

Netherlands legalizes child euthanasia despite opposition from Christian parties

 

The Dutch government will allow doctors to euthanize terminally ill children as young as one year old, making the Netherlands the second country in the world to permit the practice.

 

Health Minister Hugo de Jonge announced the change in a letter to Parliament on Tuesday, calling the decision necessary to help “a small group of terminally ill children who are suffering hopelessly and unbearably.”

 

The decision does not amend any laws, but exempts doctors from prosecution for ending a child’s life in certain conditions and with parental consent. Children between the ages of one and 12 will now be eligible for assisted suicide, whereas previously only newborn infants and teenagers could be euthanized.

 

Regardless of their age, candidates for euthanasia in the Netherlands must have “unbearable and endless suffering,” and must request death “earnestly and with full conviction.” Two doctors must approve the procedure.

 

The Netherlands legalized euthanasia in 2001, and was the first country in the world to do so. In 2014, Belgium became the first to legalize child euthanasia.

 

The Dutch government’s decision was opposed by the country’s two main Christian parties, the Christian Democrat Appeal (CDA) and ChristenUnie. Pubs and restaurants shut for a month as government gets tough on Covid-19 in Northern Ireland

 

A four-week 'circuit breaker' lockdown has been announced in Northern Ireland to curb soaring Covid cases. The restrictions are the toughest introduced anywhere in the UK.

Smoking-gun email reveals how Hunter Biden introduced Ukrainian businessman to VP dad

Hunter Biden introduced his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, to a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm less than a year before the elder Biden pressured government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company, according to emails obtained by The Post.

The never-before-revealed meeting is mentioned in a message of appreciation that Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Burisma, allegedly sent Hunter Biden on April 17, 2015, about a year after Hunter joined the Burisma board at a reported salary of up to $50,000 a month.

"Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It's realty [sic] an honor and pleasure," the email reads.

An earlier email from May 2014 also shows Pozharskyi, reportedly Burisma's No. 3 exec, asking Hunter for "advice on how you could use your influence" on the company's behalf.

The blockbuster correspondence - which flies in the face of Joe Biden's claim that he's "never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings" - is contained in a massive trove of data recovered from a laptop computer.

 

The computer was dropped off at a repair shop in Biden's home state of Delaware in April 2019, according to the store's owner.

Other material extracted from the computer includes a raunchy, 12-minute video that appears to show Hunter, who's admitted struggling with addiction problems, smoking crack while engaged in a sex act with an unidentified woman, as well as numerous other sexually explicit images.

The customer who brought in the water-damaged MacBook Pro for repair never paid for the service or retrieved it or a hard drive on which its contents were stored, according to the shop owner, who said he tried repeatedly to contact the client.

The shop owner couldn't positively identify the customer as Hunter Biden, but said the laptop bore a sticker from the Beau Biden Foundation, named after Hunter's late brother and former Delaware attorney general.

Photos of a Delaware federal subpoena given to The Post show that both the computer and hard drive were seized by the FBI in December, after the shop's owner says he alerted the feds to their existence.

 

But before turning over the gear, the shop owner says, he made a copy of the hard drive and later gave it to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's lawyer, Robert Costello.

Steve Bannon, former adviser to President Trump, told The Post about the existence of the hard drive in late September and Giuliani provided The Post with a copy of it on Sunday.

Less than eight months after Pozharskyi thanked Hunter Biden for the introduction to his dad, the then-vice president admittedly pressured Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk into getting rid of Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin by threatening to withhold a $1 billion US loan guarantee during a December 2015 trip to Kiev.

"I looked at them and said: I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money," Biden infamously bragged to the Council on Foreign Relations in 2018.

"Well, son of a bitch. He got fired."

Shokin has said that at the time of his firing, in March 2016, he'd made "specific plans" to investigate Burisma that "included interrogations and other crime-investigation procedures into all members of the executive board, including Hunter Biden."

Joe Biden has insisted that the US wanted Shokin removed over corruption concerns, which were shared by the European Union.

Meanwhile, an email dated May 12, 2014 - shortly after Hunter Biden joined the Burisma board - shows Pozharskyi attempting to get him to use his political leverage to help the company.

The message had the subject line "urgent issue" and was also sent to Hunter Biden's business partner, Devon Archer, who also sat on the Burisma board at the time.

Pozharskyi said that “the representatives of new authorities in power tend to quite aggressively approach N. Z. unofficially with the aim to obtain cash from him.”

 

N.Z. isn’t identified in the email but appears to be a reference to Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky, whose first name is a Ukrainian version of “Nicholas.”

 

When the alleged shakedown failed, “they proceeded with concrete actions” in the form of “one or more pretrial proceedings,” Pozharskyi wrote.

 

“We urgently need your advice on how you could use your influence to convey a message / signal, etc .to stop what we consider to be politically motivated actions,” he added.

 

Hunter Biden responded by saying he was with Archer in Doha, Qatar, and asked for more information about “the formal (if any) accusations being made against Burisma.”

 

“Who is ultimately behind these attacks on the company? Who in the current interim government could put an end to such attacks?” he added.

 

The exchange came the same day that Burisma announced it had expanded its board of directors by adding Hunter Biden, who was put in charge of its “legal unit and will provide support for the Company among international organizations,” according to a news release that’s since been scrubbed from Burisma’s website.

 

Hunter Biden actually joined the board in April 2014, according to multiple reports.

 

His lawyer said last year that Hunter was “not a member of the management team,” adding, “At no time was Hunter in charge of the company’s legal affairs.”

 

About four months after Hunter Biden’s correspondence with Pozharskyi, Archer forwarded Hunter Biden an email chain with the subject line “tax raise impact on Burisma production,” which included Pozharskyi saying that the Ukrainian cabinet had submitted new tax legislation to the country’s parliament.

 

“If enacted, this law would kill the entire private gas production sector in the bud,” Pozharskyi wrote.

 

In the Sept. 24, 2014, email, Pozharskyi also said he was “going to share this information with the US embassy here in Kyiv, as well as the office of Mr Amos Hochstein in the States.”

 

At the time, Hochstein was the State Department’s newly appointed special envoy and coordinator for international energy ­affairs.

 

In December 2017, the Naftogaz Group, Ukraine’s state-owned energy company, announced that Hochstein had joined the company as an independent director, but on Monday he announced his ­resignation.

 

“The company has been forced to spend endless amounts of time combating political pressure and efforts by oligarchs to enrich themselves through questionable transactions,” Hochstein wrote in an op-ed published by the Kyiv Post.

 

In addition to denying that’s he’s spoken to Hunter Biden about his overseas business dealings, Joe Biden has repeatedly denied any conflict of interest or wrongdoing by either of them involving ­Burisma.

 

Last February, he got testy during an appearance on NBC’s “Today” show when co-host Savannah Guthrie questioned whether it was “wrong for [Hunter] to take that position, knowing that it was really because that company wanted access to you.”

 

“Well, that’s not true. You’re saying things you do not know what you’re talking about,” the elder Biden responded.

 

Last December, Joe Biden also lashed out during a Democratic primary town hall event in Iowa, where a man accused him of sending Hunter to Ukraine “to get a job and work for a gas company, he had no experience with gas or nothing, in order to get access to . . . the president.”

 

“You’re a damn liar, man. That’s not true and no one has ever said that,” Biden fumed.

 

Biden then continued berating the man as he stepped forward, called the man “fat” and challenged him to “do push-ups together, man.”

 

The FBI referred questions about its seizure of the laptop and hard drive to the Delaware US Attorney’s Office, where a spokesperson said, “My office can neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation.”

 

Hunter Biden’s lawyer refused to comment on the specifics but instead attacked Giuliani.

 

“He has been pushing widely discredited conspiracy theories about the Biden family, openly relying on actors tied to Russian intelligence,” the lawyer, George R. Mesires, said of Giuliani.

 

Pozharskyi and the Joe Biden campaign did not return requests for comment. Hochstein could not be reached.

NBC is facing backlash on Twitter and from staffers after booking Donald Trump for a town hall event on Thursday that will go head-to-head on-air with Joe Biden’s town hall with rival network ABC.

 

Insiders told Page Six the last-minute decision is causing “a great deal of internal consternation” at NBC. “People saw the backlash coming, and bosses went ahead with the scheduling anyway because they thought it would get the best ratings,” an insider told Page Six.

 

Last week, ABC booked Biden for Oct. 15, originally the date of the second presidential debate, which was canceled after Trump tested positive for COVID-19 and refused to participate in a virtual format. Then on Wednesday, NBC announced their presidential get, with “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie moderating outdoors in Miami.

 

But NBC is pushing back on claims that the Trump town hall is an aggressive ratings ploy. “Ratings were the last on a long list of concerns after public health and [NBC’s] public responsibility to inform viewers. The event is taking place on Thursday because that night is available for both candidates, and NBC offered 8 p.m. because it’s the same time slot that was offered to Joe Biden last week,” a rep said.
