CIA, other spy agencies told White House about Rudy Giuliani's dealings with alleged Russian agents

 

The U.S. wasn't spying on Giuliani, but on people with whom he talked, including Andrii Derkach, identified by the Treasury Department as a Russian agent.

 

WASHINGTON — The CIA and other spy agencies gathered intelligence on Rudy Giuliani's dealings with alleged Russian intelligence agents last year and passed that information on to the White House, a source familiar with the matter tells NBC News.

 

The existence of the intelligence was first reported by the Washington Post and later confirmed by the New York Times, both of which reported that White House National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien warned President Donald Trump about it. NBC News has not confirmed that detail. The Post cited four former officials while the Times relied on four current and former officials.

 

John Ullyot, a spokesperson for the National Security Council, said in a statement that "the characterization of the meeting as described in reports is not accurate," but he did not dispute that the president was informed that his lawyer was dealing with alleged Russian agents.

 

Spokespersons for the CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment.

Ice Cube blasted CNN for canceling his scheduled appearance on the network, saying, "They can't handle the truth."

The plan also calls for better policing and access to education and job opportunities in the community.

 

The hip hop star said he offered to meet with both presidential campaigns, but Joe Biden’s campaign said they would address the plan “after the election.”

 

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign on Tuesday praised Jackson's help.

Twitter Updates ‘Hacked Materials’ policy after censoring NY Post’s Hunter Biden Exposé

 

After intense backlash for suppressing the spread of the New York Post‘s Hunter Biden emails exposé on its platform, including a Senate subpoena, Twitter announced Thursday night that it’s changing its policy on “hacked materials.”

 

“Over the last 24 hours, we’ve received significant feedback (from critical to supportive) about how we enforced our Hacked Materials Policy yesterday,” tweeted Vijaya Gadde—Twitter’s lead for legal, policy, and trust and safety—in a nine-part thread. “After reflecting on this feedback, we have decided to make changes to the policy and how we enforce it.”

In her statement, Gadde listed two major changes to the policy. Firstly, Twitter “will no longer remove hacked content unless it is directly shared by hackers or those acting in concert with them.” And then secondly, the site “will label Tweets to provide context instead of blocking links from being shared on Twitter.”

 

Explaining Twitter’s reasoning, Gadde said that “We believe that labeling Tweets and empowering people to assess content for themselves better serves the public interest and public conversation,” and that the “Hacked Material Policy is being updated to reflect these new enforcement capabilities.”

 

However, she notes, “All the other Twitter Rules will still apply to the posting of or linking to hacked materials, such as our rules against posting private information, synthetic and manipulated media, and non-consensual nudity.”

 

When users tried to tweet a link to the exposé or retweet someone who had already tweeted it, a notification preventing them from sharing it would pop up, saying, “The link you are trying to access has been identified by Twitter and our partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe,” and then listing potential reasons for why the link was categorized as such. OHCHR foreign employees left in limbo amid Israeli crackdown on rights monitors

 

Israel has stopped granting any visas to employees at the United Nations’ human rights agency, effectively forcing the body’s top staff to leave, Middle East Eye can reveal.

 

In February, Israel announced it was suspending ties with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) after a report highlighted more than 100 companies that work in Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

 

Since June all requests for new visas have gone unanswered, with passports sent off for renewals coming back empty.

Israeli and Palestinian staff continue to work and the organisation’s offices have not been closed.

 

“The absence of international staff from the occupied territory is a highly irregular situation and will negatively impact on our ability to carry out our mandate,” Rupert Colville, a spokesman for the OHCHR, told MEE.

 

“We continue to hope that this situation will be resolved soon, and we are actively engaged with various relevant and concerned parties to that end.”

All access to the Palestinian territories is controlled by Israel and the country has faced multiple allegations of quashing access to human rights workers in recent years.

 

Last year, Israel expelled Human Rights Watch’s country director Omar Shakir, after accusing him of supporting calls for a boycott, a claim he denied. Also last year, the Israeli government refused to renew the mandate for an international force that monitored violations in the city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

 

Shakir said the “forcing out of UN human rights monitors marks yet another attempt by the Israeli government to curtail documentation of its systematic repression of Palestinians”.

 

“Denying visas in order to punish critics has now become a central tool in Israel’s sustained assault on the human rights movement,” he told MEE.

The OHCHR writes regular reports highlighting alleged Israeli rights abuses in occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip.

 

In February, it published a list of 112 companies that work in Israeli settlements, which are illegal under international law. The report, which highlighted Tripadvisor, Airbnb and the truck and digger maker JCB, among others, was welcomed by Palestinians but sparked Israeli ire.

Tesla's "Gigafactory" In Berlin Just Had The Water Shut Off For Not Paying The Bill

 

While Elon Musk was busy making high school style "420" and "69" jokes on Twitter, the water at his $400 billion company's latest project - the construction of a Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany - was being turned off for non-payment.

 

It's likely a wonderful glance into what the priority structure looks like at Tesla.

 

There are multiple reports coming out of Germany that Tesla had to stop their construction as a result of the water being turned off, according to electrek.

 

One German publication, Heise said: "Tesla is temporarily unable to continue building its factory in Grünheide near Berlin. The Strausberg-Erkner water association turned off the water because Tesla did not pay the money, said association spokeswoman Sandra Ponesky on Thursday in Strausberg."

 

The company also said it sent Tesla "several warnings" but that the company didn't respond until the water was actually turned off. A spokesperson for the water company told AP: “The 14-day notice period has expired. We can’t treat Tesla any differently than other customers.”

 

"Locals initially expressed concern about water management at the project when it was first announced," electrek wrote this week. Tesla had to change its water consumption plan as a result.

 

Back in January 2020 we highlighted that Elon Musk was going to war with German Environmentalists about the building of the new Gigafactory. Thousands of trees needed to be cut down in order to make space for Tesla's new building. Nothing like saving the planet by leveling a couple of forests, right Elon?

 

The building is slated to start production in July 2021 and is working on a tight schedule. Tesla has said it'll be producing its new battery cell on site, and that this battery will be used to produce the European Model Y.

 

Electrek said of the water being turned off: "That’s not surprising for Tesla at this point, and it highlights one of the company’s biggest problems: communications. Obviously, it’s not a money problem."

This is her new yardstick to be used to crush political freedoms.

 

The number of people allowed to gather will be limited to 25 in public and 15 in private spaces. “We have decided on this prophylactic number of 35 because we have seen some examples of how fast the increase happens from 35 to 50.” Once a threshold of 50 new infections per 100,000 is exceeded, even tougher restrictions will apply. These include limiting private gatherings to 10 people or two households, and the closure of restaurants after 11:00 pm.

Criticizing Israel isn’t anti-Semitic, say 80 percent of Canadians

 

Most Canadians don’t believe that criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic, a new poll conducted by the research firm EKOS shows.

 

This means that ordinary citizens do not support the government’s announcement last year that it would formally adopt a definition of anti-Semitism that conflates criticism of Israel with anti-Jewish bigotry.

 

According to the survey’s results, 80 percent of Canadians believe that accusing Israel of committing human rights violations is not an anti-Semitic act. Neither is calling for a boycott of Israel, 76 percent say.

 

Nearly 70 percent say that comparing Israel’s apartheid policies to South African apartheid laws is not tantamount to anti-Jewish bigotry.

 

And three quarters of Canadians polled think that students who advocate for Palestinian rights exhibit legitimate political expression.

 

Furthermore, the majority of Canadians understand the difference between classic anti-Semitism and criticism of Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights.

 

“Rather than seeing a correlation between criticism of Israel and otherwise anti-Semitic views, we saw the opposite,” states Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East, which sponsored the poll along with Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV) and the United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine-Israel.

 

“Those who were most likely to see criticism of Israel as legitimate were also the most likely to say that statements about Jewish Canadians were anti-Semitic, and those who viewed criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic were the most likely to say that statements critical of Jewish Canadians were legitimate,” CJPME explained.

 

This is the final survey in a three-part series that has shown Canadians support investigations into Israel’s human rights abuses and want their government to oppose Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank.
