John Lewis has pulled a child's party dress named 'Lollita' from its shelves after receiving a backlash.

The Chi Chi London Lollita Party Dress was on sale for children aged three to 11 years old on the retailer's website for £50.

But critics pointed out the name was similar to Vladimir Nabokov's controversial 1955 novel Lolita, which details child sex abuse.

It outlines how a middle-aged professor abuses a 12-year-old girl.

The description of the dress, which was previously on John Lewis' website, said: 'This dress is sure to become a partywear favourite.

'Lined with satin for a soft and comfortable finish, this pretty dress features delicate metallic embroidery, scalloped edges and a chiffon skirt with tulle underlay that's perfect for twirling on the dance floor.'

Chi Chi London is a fashion brand which stocks its clothes with the department store.

The dress does not appear on the company's website either. MailOnline has contacted the brand for comment.

Television presenter Victoria Coren Mitchell tweeted about the dress to her followers.

Planes will take some time and many flights to cover an area the size of a county and even longer to cover a whole state.

They will concentrate in one area until it is completely covered before moving on to the next area.

Due to needing clear good conditions for the optical imagery they may bounce around the state chasing the best weather conditions.

They may also use several planes each equipped with different equipment in the same area.

As to the Canadian company - there are relatively few companies with the necessary capabilities the customer - Ohio State- needs.

MIRACLE RECOVERY! TX Deputy Jason Jones Comes Out of Coma After Ivermectin Treatment — Tells His Wife “I Love You!”

On mid November, we reported on a Texas deputy and father of 6, Jason Jones, who is hospitalized with Covid and on a ventilator. His wife, Erin, has been fighting the hospital in court for the right to have an outside doctor treat him with Ivermectin. That outside doctor happens to be Dr. Mary Bowden, who we reported Thursday had her admitting privileges revoked from a Houston hospital. Her crime? Spreading “disinformation” about Ivermectin even though she’s treated hundreds of patients successfully with the medication. Strange that the hospital took this action right after Dr. Bowden testified on Mr. Jones’ behalf.

Then later the court ruling which would have provided Dr. Bowden to treat Mr. Jones with Ivermectin, was overturned. The hospital, Texas Health Huguley, had appealed the court order on the basis that Dr. Bowden (mentioned above) did not have admitting privileges to the hospital. The hospital argued that the court did not have the authority to circumvent its policies by ordering admitting privileges without the doctor going through the standard process. The appellate court agreed and overturned the order of the lower court. The decision is significant because Ms. Jones would have to start all over again, but also find a doctor with admitting privileges at Texas Health Huguley, who’s willing to prescribe and treat with Ivermectin.

It must be said that Ivermectin is an FDA approved medication that has a safety profile to which even Tylenol cannot compare. It has been prescribed off-label to treat Covid in India and other countries with miraculous success. Prescribing a medication off-label is a common practice doctors use frequently to treat a condition with a medication that is intended for something else. For example, doctors prescribe Aspirin to those at risk of heart-attacks, even though it was not made for that purpose. Doctors are being restricted from practicing medicine as they were trained to do. Sharing their findings and experiences is considered “spreading “disinformation”.

Restricting “disinformation” is nothing more than censorship rebranded.

Friends and family organized a prayer rally for next Monday to both show support for the family, while making sure the hospital knows their lack of human decency and compassion will not go unnoticed:

Chris Cuomo’s CNN producer charged with luring girls for ‘sexual’ training

A veteran CNN producer who worked “shoulder to shoulder” with now disgraced ex-anchor Chris Cuomo has been indicted on charges of luring young girls to his Vermont ski house for “sexual subservience” training.

John Griffin, of Stamford, CT, allegedly used messaging apps to befriend and persuade moms of young girls, telling them “a woman is a woman regardless of her age,” and that he should be the one to “train” their daughters sexually, according to the indictment from the US Attorney of Vermont.

Griffin, 44, allegedly got at least one mom of two daughters to bring the girl to his Ludlow ski getaway, in June 2020.

It was the mom’s responsibility to see that her older daughter, just 13, was “trained properly,” Griffin told her, according to the indictment.

Griffin, a father himself, sent the woman $3,000 for plane tickets so they could fly from Nevada to Boston’s Logan Airport, where he picked them up in his Tesla for the ride to Ludlow, according to court papers.

On these communication platforms, Griffin sought to persuade parents to allow him to train their daughters to be sexually submissive. In June of 2020, Griffin advised a mother of 9- and 13-year-old daughters that the mother’s responsibility was to see that her older daughter was “trained properly.” Griffin later transferred over $3,000 to the mother for plane tickets so the mother and her 9-year-old daughter could fly from Nevada to Boston’s Logan airport. The mother and child flew to Boston in July of 2020, where Griffin picked them up in his Tesla and drove them to his Ludlow house. At the house, the daughter was directed to engage in, and did engage in, unlawful sexual activity.

The indictment also includes specific allegations that Griffin attempted to entice two other children over the internet to engage in sexual activity. In April of 2020, Griffin proposed to engage in a “virtual training session” over a video chat that would include him instructing the mother and her 14-year-old daughter to remove their clothing and touch each other at his direction. In June of 2020, Griffin proposed to a purported mother of a 16-year-old daughter that she take a “little mother-daughter trip” to Griffin’s Ludlow ski house for sexual training involving the child.

The United States Attorney’s Office emphasizes that an indictment contains allegations only and that Griffin remains presumed innocent until and unless he is convicted of a crime. On each count, Griffin faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years of imprisonment and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The indictment includes a notice that states the federal government intends to seek the forfeiture of Griffin’s Ludlow house, his Tesla, a Mercedes, and other property that was used in the commission of the charged offenses.

Four More Defendants Sentenced In Coast Guard Test-Fixing Scheme

NEW ORLEANS –U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced the sentencings of four defendants for their roles in a test score-fixing scheme at a Coast Guard exam center.

On December 8, 2021, ALONZO WILLIAMS, who plead guilty to being an intermediary in the scheme, was sentenced by the Honorable Barry W. Ashe to 40 months incarceration to be followed by three years of supervised release.

QUANG TRAN, HARRY JOHNSON, and JAMES CARR, who each plead guilty to unlawfully receiving an officer-level mariner license, were sentenced by Judge Ashe to a year of probation and 100 hours of community service on October 28, December 8, and December 9, 2021 respectively

All 28 maritime industry workers charged in the November 2020 indictment have been convicted—24 plead guilty to unlawfully receiving licenses and 4 plead guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States by acting as intermediaries in the scheme. The other three defendants in this indictment—DOROTHY SMITH, ELDRIDGE JOHNSON, and BEVERLY MCCRARY—are former Coast Guard employees charged with conspiring to defraud the United States and are awaiting trial. Also awaiting trial are eight mariners charged with unlawfully receiving licenses in a separate, recently filed, indictment.

The indictments allege that the licenses at issue were unlawfully obtained though false exam scores entered by SMITH. The exams tested mariners’ knowledge and training to safely operate under the authority of the licenses, which were legally required to work various positions on vessels. SMITH is accused using a network of intermediaries to obtain payments from the mariners.

U.S. Attorney Evans reiterated that the indictments’ allegations against SMITH and any other defendants who are awaiting trial are merely charges and their guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case is being investigated by the Coast Guard Investigative Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chandra Menon is in charge of the prosecution.

Leaders of the Lorenzana Drug Trafficking Organization Extradited on International Narcotics Trafficking Charges

Two Guatemalan nationals were extradited to the United States from Guatemala on Friday to face international narcotics trafficking charges.

Guatemalan nationals Haroldo Geremias Lorenzana-Cordon, aka Chuci, aka Chuchy, and Marta Julia Lorenzana-Cordon, aka Julie, aka Yulie, aka Julia and aka Morena, were extradited from Guatemala to the United States on Dec. 10 to face international drug trafficking charges. They made their initial court appearance in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 11. They are detained pending their appearance today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

According to allegations contained in court documents, the defendants were leaders of the Lorenzana drug trafficking organization. According to court documents, the Lorenzana drug trafficking organization, a historically patriarchal criminal group comprised primarily of family members, is one of the largest and most influential drug cartels in Guatemala. The organization transports tonnage quantities of cocaine from Colombia into Guatemala, where the cocaine is inventoried and stored on properties owned by the organization throughout Guatemala. Once processed, the organization works with the Sinaloa Cartel, among other organizations, to traffic cocaine into Mexico, through Central America, and eventually, into the United States.

According to court documents, between 1996 and 2019, the organization coordinated the transportation, storage and distribution of multi-ton quantities of cocaine from Colombia to Central America and Mexico, for eventual distribution into the United States. Their siblings, Eliu Elixander Lorenzana-Cordon and Waldemar Lorenzana-Cordon, were convicted on international narcotics trafficking charges in the District of Columbia in March 2019. Their father, Waldemar Lorenzana-Lima Sr., pleaded guilty to international narcotics trafficking charges in the District of Columbia in August 2014. Eliu and Waldemar Lorenzana-Cordon received life sentences. Waldemar Lorenzana-Lima received a 23 year sentence.

In April 2010, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated Haroldo, along with his father and two brothers, as Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers (SDNT) pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act (Kingpin Act) for their role in facilitating the narcotics-trafficking activities of the Sinaloa Cartel in Guatemala. OFAC subsequently designated Marta Julia as an SDNT in November 2012.

A grand jury in the District of Columbia returned an indictment against Haroldo on March 10, 2009. In November 2019, Haroldo was arrested by Guatemalan authorities, pursuant to a provisional arrest request by the United States, where he remained detained pending his extradition. A grand jury in the District of Columbia returned an indictment against Marta Julia on July 23, 2020. In April, Marta Julia was arrested by Guatemalan authorities, pursuant to an extradition request by the United States, where she remained detained pending her extradition.

The defendants are charged with conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, knowing and intending that it will be unlawfully imported to the United States. If convicted, they each face mandatory minimum sentences of 10 years in federal prison and a statutory maximum sentence of life imprisonment. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

This case is part of “Operation Slipknot,” which is supported by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). The Drug Enforcement Administration’s 959/Bilateral Investigations Unit is investigating with assistance from the DEA Guatemala City Country Office.

Trial Attorneys Imani Hutty and Teresita Mutton of the Criminal Division’s Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section are prosecuting the case. The Office of International Affairs and Office of Enforcement Operations also provided significant assistance.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Hospitals Dropping Vax Mandate Due To Labor Shortages, Court Order

On Sunday we noted that hospitals in four states have called in the National Guard to help alleviate a severe healthcare worker shortage caused by mass firings of those who refuse to comply with vaccine mandates.

Now, the Wall Street Journal reports that some of the largest US hospital systems have dropped vaccine mandates for workers amid soaring labor costs and struggles retaining enough nurses, technicians, 'and even janitors' to handle higher hospitalization rates due to the Delta variant.

According to hospital execs, public health authorities and nursing groups, pre-pandemic shortages of workers, including nurses, have been compounded by burnout, as well as the lucrative lure of nurses who work on short-term contracts in Covid hot spots.

More recently, thousands of nurses have left the industry or lost their jobs rather than get vaccinated. As of September, 30% of workers at more than 2,000 hospitals across the country surveyed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were unvaccinated.

"It’s been a mass exodus, and a lot of people in the healthcare industry are willing to go and shop around," according to employment attorney Wade Symons, head of Mercer's US regulatory practice. "If you get certain healthcare facilities that don’t require it, those could be a magnet for those people who don’t want the vaccine. They’ll probably have an easier time attracting labor."

In November, a federal judge in Louisiana ruled that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services didn't have the authority to force healthcare workers to take the jab - blocking a Biden admin rule which would have applied to some 10 million workers and would have required all employees at facilities participating in Medicare / Medicaid take the jab by Jan. 4.

"I don’t think the mandates were helpful and I think the court in Louisiana did everyone a service," said Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine, who oversees the administration of 21 hospitals in Tennessee and Virginia.

Mr. Levine said his company has about 14,000 employees, some 2,000 of whom are unvaccinated or didn’t request an exemption to the requirement. “That many people having to be terminated would have been devastating to our system,” Mr. Levine said. -WSJ

Meanwhile, one of the country's largest healthcare providers, HCA, suspended their previous deadline of Jan. 4 for all workers following the court halt.

"We continue to strongly encourage our colleagues to be vaccinated as a critical step to protect individuals from the virus," said spokesman Harlow Sumerford, who added that a majority of their roughly 275,000 workers were fully vaccinated.

Tenet and AdventHealth also announced that they were waiving the requirement following the court decision, while the Cleveland Clinic - which runs 19 hospitals in Ohio and Florida and employees roughly 65,000 people, along with Utah hospital giant Intermountain Healthcare, said they would similarly suspend the vax requirement.

More than two-thirds of U.S. employers recently surveyed have no plans to make vaccination a condition of work, if courts ultimately strike down the Biden administration’s mandate for large employers.

According to the survey of 1,000 randomly selected members of the Society for Human Resources Management, 75% said they’re not likely to implement either of the mandate’s central directives — full vaccination or weekly testing — should a permanent court ruling make the measure illegal.

“The majority of employers and HR professionals that we chatted with are really in wait-and-see-mode,” Annemarie Schaefer, SHRM’s head of research, told Yahoo Finance. “So they don't even know what to expect."

Fifty-one percent of employers with 100 or more employees who responded to the survey indicated they will hold off on vaccination policy decisions until the legal challenges are settled. (Fifty-three percent of the 1,000 respondents employed more than 100 workers.)

Under an emergency temporary standard, administered by the Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Biden Administration in September directed private sector employers with 100 or more workers to ensure that by Jan. 4 their employees are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. At an employer’s discretion, the rule also allows for unvaccinated employees to continue working after Dec. 5, so long as they wear masks and test negative each week for COVID-19. The rule does not require vaccination for fully remote workers.

The mandate was quick to draw legal challenges that are now stalling its implementation.

In November, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals stopped enforcement of the rule by issuing a nationwide stay of the emergency temporary standard. The case was transferred to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, which kept the stay in effect. The Biden administration has requested that the court dissolve the stay, if not entirely, as least as to its mask-and-test mandate for unvaccinated workers.

For larger employers that anticipated having to comply with the administration’s mandate, the survey found that fewer said they’d scrap vaccination requirements if the Sixth Circuit strikes down the OSHA rule. Private employers are legally entitled to mandate vaccines, so long as they abide by laws prohibiting discrimination against unvaccinated workers based on disability or religious reasons.

Emily M. Dickens, SHRM’s chief of staff, said the administration should have done more to prevent the wait-and-see mode that many of its employers are now facing.

“Unfortunately, the vaccine and testing mandate was rolled out without input from employers, causing the concern and confusion we see in our research,” Dickens said in a statement.

The organization had urged the Biden administration to release a draft and solicit and receive public comment prior to the imposition of any proposed mandate, she added.

According to SHRM, employers subject to the mandate cited numerous challenges to implementing it. Seventy-three percent said the legal challenges made implementation difficult, while 65% said the rule poses challenges for managing employee morale. Fifty-nine percent cited record keeping requirements as sticking points, while 56% cited employee retention concerns.

The Biden administration’s mandate for large employers isn’t the only one facing legal challenges; its additional vaccine requirements for health care providers and federal contractors are also on hold pending the outcome of court cases.

On Nov. 30, a Louisiana judge issued a nationwide preliminary injunction blocking implementation of a final rule from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which requires healthcare workers to get vaccinated. A day earlier on Nov. 29, a Missouri judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Final Rule on behalf of 10 states that sued the administration.
