Response:

Schools use a variety of practices and procedures to promote the safety of students, faculty, and staff. The School Survey on Crime and Safety (SSOCS) collects data on school safety and security practices by asking public school principals about their school’s use of safety and security measures, as well as whether their school had written procedures for responding to selected scenarios and whether it had emergency drills for students. SSOCS also asked schools about the presence of security staff and the availability of trainings for classroom teachers or aides on school safety and discipline provided by the school or school district.1

In the 2017–18 school year, 95 percent of public schools reported that they controlled access to school buildings by locking or monitoring doors during school hours. Other safety and security measures reported by public schools included the use of security cameras to monitor the school (83 percent), a requirement that faculty and staff wear badges or picture IDs (70 percent), and the enforcement of a strict dress code (49 percent). In addition, 27 percent of public schools reported the use of random sweeps for contraband, 20 percent required that students wear uniforms, 9 percent required students to wear badges or picture IDs, and 5 percent used random metal detector checks.

Public schools’ use of various safety and security measures differed by school characteristics during the 2017–18 school year. For example, a greater percentage of primary schools than of middle schools required students to wear uniforms (23 vs. 18 percent), and both percentages were greater than the percentage of high schools requiring uniforms (10 percent); for schools that used the measures of controlling access to school buildings and requiring faculty and staff to wear badges or picture IDs, the same pattern of percentages by school level can be observed. In contrast, greater percentages of high schools and middle schools than of primary schools reported the use of security cameras to monitor the school, the use of random sweeps for contraband, a requirement that students wear badges or picture IDs, and the use of random metal detector checks. For instance, 65 percent of high schools and 50 percent of middle schools reported the use of random sweeps for contraband, compared with 8 percent of primary schools. The percentage of schools reporting the enforcement of a strict dress code was greater for middle schools (62 percent) than for high schools (56 percent), and both percentages were greater than the percentage of primary schools enforcing a strict dress code (43 percent).

Jim, my youngest son (who is 19 years old now) went to elementary, middle and high school in TX. Three different cities.

By the time 2014 rolled around, ALL schools in our area had been retrofitted (and new schools designed with) buzz- in systems, where you could not walk into the school without being buzzed in by the front office. Parents would literally have to give their name, the name of their student, and the reason for their visit. You would sit outside and wait a couple minutes while the administration and staff verified that your student was a real student at the school.

Once inside, the only place accessible to any visitor was the front office. There was bulletproof glass and / or heavy locked doors leading to all other areas of the school, and this was at multiple schools throughout the years that my son attended. All schools were designed this way! It was done intentionally to stop mass shootings.

There is no way that in 2022 the shooter had access to a classroom.

SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 11, Education Code, is

amended by adding Section 11.007 to read as follows:

Sec. 11.007. BUILDING STANDARDS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL

FACILITIES. (a) In this section, "instructional facility" has the

meaning assigned by Section 46.001.

(b) A school district that constructs a new instructional

facility must comply with the following building and design

standards:

(1) a lock on each entrance door to the building and

classroom door that enables the door to be locked and opened without

a key from inside the building or classroom;

(2) windows on classroom doors that are narrow and

placed on the side of the door away from the door handle;

(3) for a classroom or administrative office wall, the

use of material that is not glass or transparent;

(4) for each window in a classroom or administrative

office, a window covering that may be used to block the view;

(5) a fully functional public address system that can

be clearly heard from each classroom and hallway; and

(6) an adequate number of security cameras to provide

video coverage of each building entrance and hallway.

SECTION 2. Subchapter D, Chapter 12, Education Code, is

amended by adding Section 12.138 to read as follows:

Sec. 12.138. BUILDING STANDARDS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL

FACILITIES. (a) In this section, "instructional facility" has the

meaning assigned by Section 46.001.

(b) An open-enrollment charter school that constructs a new

instructional facility must comply with the following building and

design standards:

(1) a lock on each entrance door to the building and

classroom door that enables the door to be locked and opened without

a key from inside the building or classroom;

(2) windows on classroom doors that are narrow and

placed on the side of the door away from the door handle;

(3) for a classroom or administrative office wall, the

use of material that is not glass or transparent;

(4) for each window in a classroom or administrative

office, a window covering that may be used to block the view;

SECTION 3. Subchapter D, Chapter 37, Education Code, is

amended by adding Section 37.116 to read as follows:

Sec. 37.116. CAMPUS SAFETY PROCEDURES. Each school

district and open-enrollment charter school shall adopt and

implement campus safety procedures that provide for the safety of

students and employees, including:

(1) ensuring the live video feed from each security

camera on a district or school campus is readily available to:

(A) the school district police department, if

applicable; or

(B) the dispatch center of a local law

enforcement agency responsible for responding to an emergency at a

campus of the district or school;

(2) requiring school activities to be conducted in a

classroom or in an area with direct access to a secure room, except

for athletic activities that may be held outdoors;

(3) testing the public address system regularly; and

(4) storing and maintaining in the main office of each

district or school campus an active shooter medical kit that

includes tourniquets, bandages, and other supplies that are

typically used to treat an injury involving traumatic blood loss.

SECTION 4. Subchapter C, Chapter 45, Education Code, is

amended by adding Section 45.0572 to read as follows:

Sec. 45.0572. REQUIRED BUILDING STANDARDS. A school

district seeking the guarantee of eligible bonds to be used to fund

construction of a new instructional facility, as defined by Section

46.001, must comply with Section 11.007 in order to be eligible for

the guarantee.

SECTION 5. Section 46.0081, Education Code, is amended to

read as follows:

Sec. 46.0081. SECURITY CRITERIA IN DESIGN OF INSTRUCTIONAL

FACILITIES. (a) A school district that constructs a new

instructional facility or conducts a major renovation of an

existing instructional facility using funds allotted to the

district under this subchapter shall consider, in the design of the

instructional facility, appropriate security criteria.

(b) A school district that constructs a new instructional

facility using funds allotted to the district under this subchapter

must comply with Section 11.007.

SECTION 6. Subchapter B, Chapter 46, Education Code, is

amended by adding Section 46.0341 to read as follows:

Sec. 46.0341. REQUIRED BUILDING STANDARDS. Section

46.0081(b) applies to the payment of and application for assistance

under this subchapter.

SECTION 7. As soon as practicable after the effective date

of this Act, each school district and open-enrollment charter

school shall adopt and implement campus safety procedures as

required by Section 37.116, Education Code, as added by this Act.

SECTION 8. Sections 11.007 and 12.138, Education Code, as

added by this Act, apply only to the construction of a new

instructional facility that begins on or after September 1, 2019.

SECTION 9. Subchapter C, Chapter 45, Education Code, as

amended by this Act, and Chapter 46, Education Code, as amended by

this Act, apply only to a school district's application for

guarantee of bonds by the permanent school fund under Subchapter C,

Chapter 45, Education Code, or a school district's application for

state assistance under Chapter 46, Education Code, that is made on

or after September 1, 2019. A school district's application for

guarantee of bonds by the permanent school fund or for state

assistance under Chapter 46, Education Code, that is made before

September 1, 2019, is governed by the law in effect on the date the

application is made, and the former law is continued in effect for

that purpose.

SECTION 10. This Act takes effect immediately if it

receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each

house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.

If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate

effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2019.

The Connecticut senator, whose gun safety advocacy was kindled by an elementary school shooting in his state 10 years ago, asked his colleagues pointedly in an impassioned floor speech just after the killings: “We have another Sandy Hook on our hands. What are we doing?” As he left the floor, Murphy said he wasn’t there to needle his GOP colleagues or force them to reject legislation to make a political point.

Instead, he was begging them to come to the table for a deal: “I know I have Republican partners. I know there’s 10 Republicans that will vote for something under the right circumstances, with the right leadership.”

“I don’t understand why people here think we are powerless,” Murphy said. “I am so willing to bend over backwards to find compromise.”

Murphy reached out to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) to extend his condolences on Tuesday afternoon; the duo has worked in the past on gun legislation. And Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said he wants to reopen talks about gun safety legislation. Yet Murphy stands out in his caucus with his enduring interest in finding a path to a new gun bill, however small-scale it may seem.

He joined the Senate shortly after a man shot and killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in his home state, a tragedy that sparked Congress’ last truly serious effort to pass gun safety legislation. Roughly nine years ago, most Republicans and a handful of Democrats blocked that bipartisan bid to expand background checks.

In the years since, there have been on-and-off discussions about gun safety as more and more mass shooters kill people in the United States. Then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in 2019 that background checks and red flag laws would be “front and center” for Congress after a pair of deadly shootings that year, but the chamber took no action.

CNN: "Israel" purposely murdered Shireen Abu Akleh

The US news channel, with evidence, paints a clear picture of the crime scene of Shireen Abu Akleh's assassination.

A report published in CNN provides evidence and testimonies regarding the death of slain Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, who was assassinated by an Israeli sniper earlier this month.

The report starts off with a descriptive narration of the moment Abu Akleh was murdered, when her colleague, Shatha Hanaysha, watched the veteran journalist drop to motionlessness, unable to comprehend the magnitude of the situation before her. Both were wearing Press vests, yet were nonetheless attacked. Although a man tried to come to aid, he was deterred back by gunfire.

Eyewitnesses narrated to CNN that the Israeli forces present on the same street fired, deliberately, at the journalist even though the entourage followed journalist protocol, making sure they were seen, as a group, before moving around.

"We stood in front of the Israeli military vehicles for about five to ten minutes before we made moves to ensure they saw us. And this is a habit of ours as journalists, we move as a group and we stand in front of them so they know we are journalists, and then we start moving," Hanaysha told CNN.

Lies met with proof

When the shooting occurred, Israeli military spokesperson Ran Kochav casually said that Abu Akleh had been "filming and working for a media outlet amidst armed Palestinians. They're armed with cameras, if you'll permit me to say so," saying it's "not clear" who fired the shot, and that Abu Akleh was hit either by Palestinian gunfire or by an Israeli sniper aiming at Palestinian gunmen. However, as written in the CNN report, "neither Israel nor anyone else has provided evidence showing armed Palestinians within a clear line of fire from Abu Akleh."

"Israel" seems like it won't be conducting any investigation into the murder - US lawmakers, the UN, and the international community on the other hand are demanding an independent investigation.

CNN obtained two videos that show that there was no evidence of combat nor any Palestinian gunmen on the field before Abu Akleh's time of the assassination. The videos were endorsed by eight eyewitnesses who were around, in addition to an audio forensic analyst and an explosive weapons expert. Abu Akleh, was in fact, "shot dead in a targeted attack by Israeli forces," as written in the report.

The footage obtained shows calm before the reporters were attacked with bullets just outside Jenin refugee camp, near Awdeh roundabout. Hanaysha, including four other journalists, said it was a typical morning in Jenin - relatively quiet.

One video provided to CNN exposed the fact that there were snipers before the assassination. In a 16-minute video filmed by Salim Awad, he walks towards the spot where the journalists had gathered, zooming in on Israeli armored vehicles which were parked in the distance, eyeing, probing sinisterly. In the video, the man says: "Look at the snipers."

Awad gave a testimony, too: "There was no conflict or confrontations at all. We were about 10 guys, give or take, walking around, laughing and joking with the journalists," he said. "We were not afraid of anything. We didn't expect anything would happen, because when we saw journalists around, we thought it'd be a safe area."

His video captured the moments when the shots were fired at Abu Akleh and three of her colleagues, including Hanaysha, Al Jazeera producer Ali Al-Samoudi, and another Palestinian journalist, Mujahid Al-Saadi. There was, in the video, a direct line of sight toward the Israeli convoy.

UVALDE, Texas – KPRC 2 Investigates has learned more information about the teenage gunman who went on a devastating rampage in an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas Tuesday afternoon killing 19 students and two teachers.

According to officials, 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos is the person who police believe acted as a lone shooter in the incident at Robb Elementary School.

State troopers tell KPRC 2 Investigates that prior to the school shooting, Ramos shot his grandmother during an argument. The grandmother’s condition is not known, but sources say she is believed to be alive.

Ramos next took off in a truck which he crashed into a ditch a short time later. After shooting at responding officers, Ramos made his way into the school.

“At that point as he made entry he began shooting children, teachers, anybody that was in his way he was shooting people that were in front of him,” said Lt. Chris Olivares with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Tuesday evening, KPRC 2 Investigates obtained the following additional information from a source with close knowledge of the events that took place in Uvalde:

The source reports that according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the suspect legally purchased two AR platform rifles at a local federal firearms licensee on two separate dates: May 17, 2022, and May 20, 2022. One of the rifles he had purchased was left in the crashed truck. The other rifle (a Daniel Defense) was located in the school with the suspect.

On May 18, 2022, the suspect reportedly purchased 375 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.

ATF paperwork shows the suspect’s home address, as does his driver license, in the 500 block of Diaz Street in Uvalde. That is the address where his grandmother lived and was shot.

It appears the suspect dropped a backpack with several magazines full of ammunition near the entrance of the school. Inside the school, what appears to be seven 30-round magazines were discovered. It will not be known whether they are expended until the crime scene is processed.

After further inspection of the deceased suspect’s clothing, it now appears the suspect was not wearing body armor as previous information had indicated. Instead, Ramos is said to have been wearing only a plate carrier with no ballistic armor inside when he exchanged gun fire with several officers at the school.

According to information from city officials, Ramos is from the town of Uvalde, which is 85 miles west of San Antonio, and was born on May 16, 2004.

"We saw around four or five military vehicles on that street with rifles sticking out of them and one of them shot Shireen. We were standing right there, we saw it. When we tried to approach her, they shot at us. I tried to cross the street to help, but I couldn't," Awad said.

Before the assassination, a testimony obtained by a 16-year-old who was standing among a group of men and boys on the street also narrates that there were "no shots fired, no stone-throwing, nothing."

Just after the journalists left for the hospital, the video showed five Israeli army vehicles driving slowly past the place of death, turning left, and leaving via the roundabout.

M16 assault

CNN reviewed up to 11 videos that exposed the crime scene as well as the IOF's action from multiple angles. One video includes a body camera video, which was released by the IOF, depicting Israeli soldiers running through an alleyway holding M16 assault rifles and variants as they spilled out onto the street where the armored vehicles were parked. One military source said that both were holding M16 and M4-style rifles.

The armored vehicles, which amount to five, were lined up in a row on the same line where Abu Akleh was shot. The vehicles closest to the journalists had a number "1", while the farthest away had a "5." All were positioned perpendicular across the street. Directly above the numbers are little rectangular boxes from where the Israelis have been shooting.

The report writes, "The Israeli military referenced such an opening in a statement about its initial investigation into Abu Akleh's shooting, saying that the journalist may have been hit by an Israeli soldier shooting from a 'designated firing hole in an IDF vehicle using a telescopic scope.'"

Furthermore, a number of eyewitnesses told CNN that they saw sniper rifles sticking out of the openings of the armored vehicles before the shooting began, "but that it was not preceded by any gunfire."

The firing was no random act, and the weapons expert could affirm this.

According to Chris Cobb-Smith, an explosive weapons expert, there was "no chance" that random firing would result in three to four shots in such tight space. "From the strike marks on the tree, it appears that the shots, one of which hit Shireen, came from down the street from the direction of the IDF troops. The relatively tight grouping of the rounds indicate Shireen was intentionally targeted with aimed shots and not the victim of random or stray fire," the firearms expert told CNN.

A professor from the Arab American University in Jenin, Jamal Huwail, who had helped drag Abu Akleh's body from the road, said he believed that the attack was coming from one of the Israeli vehicles, which he described as a "new model which had an opening for snipers," noting the elevation and the direction of the bullets that suggest so.

"They were shooting directly at the journalists," Huwail said.

The Israeli establishment will, all in all, continually use innovation to build more "effective" ways to systemically oppress, murder and inflict suffering on Palestinians and critics of "Israel" alike. Abu Akleh's death on May 11 was a clear message to journalists around the world who use their camera and penmanship to narrate truth and nothing but.

Two Uvalde teens were recently arrested for Conspiracy to Commit Murder after officers said they foiled a mass-shooting plot the pair had schemed.

A press release obtained by KENS 5 thoroughly chronicles events leading up to an investigation performed by the Uvalde Police Department and the Texas Rangers.

In the press release, Uvalde Chief of Police Daniel Rodriguez said that a Morales Junior High School student,14, and a former Morales student, 13, had specifically targeted numerous students in what they described as a plan to perform a "mass casualty event against the school."

Authorities said the students were motivated in large part by the Columbine shootings:

"The investigation revealed that the students were infatuated with the Columbine High School shootings and identified themselves to the shooters. The investigation uncovered that the students even referred to themselves using the Columbine shooter's names."

Investigators also believe the students were planning to hold the attacks years from now during their senior year, on the anniversary of the Columbine shooting. However, one of the students began to convince the other that they should move the attacks up to this year.

"One of the students had numerous writings and drawings which depicted weapons capable of causing mass destruction. He wrote about being "God-like" and killing police and other persons. He had an academic analysis of one of the Columbine shooter's journals," the release stated.

According to the release, the teens were also planning on detonating IED's before killing students from a list 'ranked by priority.'

After that, the release states the pair were going to kill at random before eventually turning the guns on themselves.

The final war with "Israel": How and when?

To be able to answer this question, we need to understand both the Palestinian and regional situation.

"Israel’s" strategy is to disconnect Palestinians from each other to destroy the national cohesion between Palestinians and erase the feeling of being part of a country. This is achieved by physically separating Palestinians and putting large amounts of pressure on them in each area, which imposes separate and different struggles. As long as Palestinians are separated and don’t work as a single group that is seeking to achieve common goals, "Israel" will continue its expansion unhindered. The minimal goal of the Palestinian people is to at least have a sovereign state with full rights within the 1967 borders. Some want a complete liberation of Palestine while others settle for the 1967 borders.

One event officially killed any idea of peace or negotiations with "Israel": Trump’s decision to recognize occupied Al-Quds as "Israel’s" eternal capital and the Syrian Golan Heights as Israeli territory. This decision overturned international law and internationally recognized borders. One thing has become clear: "Israel" is expanding, will never accept any kind of functioning state, and the only option to obtain your rights is armed resistance. This was the official ending of the Oslo Accords.

The liberation must start with Palestinians themselves.

"Israel" is faced with two options with all these events.

1- Give in to the demands of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, which is considered as a huge defeat for "Israel" on all levels. It will delay the final clash, but it will also encourage Palestinians to reclaim their full rights by force because that is the only thing that works.

2- Try to suppress the growing Palestinian uprising, which risks igniting the intifada even faster. It can take between months and several years, but in both cases, we are heading for the final confrontation.

Of course, there is always the possibility that "Israel" becomes adventurous and executes a wrong calculation in the region which risks igniting the regional war with the Al-Quds Axis earlier and outside of the context stated above.

With the blood and sweat of thousands of its sons and daughters, Lebanon was liberated on May 25, 2000.

Twenty-two years have passed since the Israelis were forced, for the first time, to withdraw from an occupied Arab land unconditionally. The event that took place on May 25th of the year 2000 is seen widely as a turning point in the greater Arab struggle against the Israeli occupation and colonization of Arab lands.

The day the occupation completed its forced withdrawal from Lebanese territories came to be known as the Liberation and Resistance Day in Lebanon, a day that is commemorated and celebrated all over the country annually. It became a founding element in the story of the Arab and Lebanese people’s struggle in general, and for the people of Southern Lebanon in particular. Memories of the occupation that brought death and destruction to the lives of many are still vivid to this day, as not only were the horrors of such a period carved in the collective memory of the Lebanese people but also the idea that the cost of resistance will always be more bearable than that of submission.

So how did the people, historically described as poor peasants, manage to inflict such a strategic defeat on the Israeli war machine?

Building the momentum

As the occupation began in 1978 and then expanded in 1982, the Lebanese resistance factions took up their arms and dealt heavy blows to the Israeli occupation troops present on the Lebanese soil via various military actions. New resistance factions were formed as well. They followed a wide array of ideological doctrines that ranged from communism and nationalism to Islamic ideology. This piece will be focusing on the actions, operations, and plans of the resistance party that played a major role in the military defeat of the Israelis and their expulsion from Lebanon - except for the Shebaa Farms and the Kfar Chouba Hills - the Islamic resistance in Lebanon, i.e. Hezbollah.

The resistance project was launched in Beirut in 1982 by only a few men who were frustrated by how the people under Israeli occupation were left to meet their fate by everyone as the country was engulfed in civil war. Not with words, but with solid actions, iron, and lead, these men decided to stand their ground and fight. The oldest of these men hadn’t reached his thirties, these “young and crazy” men ended up changing the fate of Lebanon and the region for good.

Numbering from a few dozens to hundreds in the nineties, the resistance had employed multiple tactics, from ambushes to anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) strikes or mining the roads taken by Israeli patrols. Their foe was not only the Israeli occupation forces; there was also a collaborator militia under the name of the South Lebanon Army (SLA), whom the Israelis used as cannon fodder to man the front outposts with the hope of mitigating their losses.

The Islamic Resistance’s ability to adapt to shifting conditions was proved by Hezbollah’s military operations in the 1990s. Hezbollah attacked with direct assaults when the Israeli forces and SLA-established permanent outposts. The resistance moved to use indirect fire using mortars and rocket fire when the occupation and its collaborators bolstered their outposts. The resistance resorted to ambushes, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and mines as the IOF changed tactics and became a more mobile force with more patrols.

As for the use of ATGMs, the Lebanese resistance deployed even more complex armament systems, ranging from the older Sagger ATGMs to the more modern American-made TOWs and Soviet-made Konkurs. Between September and October 1997, using TOW systems, the resistance, for instance, managed to destroy a Magach and three Merkava tanks, dealing a serious blow to the IOF’s morale. The Islamic resistance’s adaptability earned it admiration from its enemies. The head of the Golani brigade, Moshe Kaplinsky, remarked that "Hezbollah was a learning organization."

The War was characterized by an intellectual clash between the resistance and the IOF. For instance, in the 1990s, when the IOF started utilizing sniffer dogs to find wire-triggered IEDs, the resistance started hiding its mines under fiberglass boulders as camouflage, then resorted to using radio control to set off the mines. The IOF, in turn, tried countering this tactic by jamming the radio signals, the resistance responded by using cellphone-triggered devices. The Israelis countered this tactic by jamming cellphone signals. The resistance finally employed infrared signals to detonate the explosive devices and continued inflicting tremendous damage to the Israeli occupying forces.

Culminating the effects

The resistance's professional use of IEDs and mines culminated in the killing of Erez Gerstein in 1999; the top Israeli commander in Lebanon at that time. It was a huge calamity for the occupation and its already crumbling morale as a result of the attrition war it was suffering at the hands of the resistance. The SLA was not spared either, as its second-in-command, Aql Hashim, was killed the following year using similar tactics.

One of the most significant victories for the resistance, both on the intelligence and tactical levels, was the 1997 ambush of sixteen navy commandos from the elite Shayetet 13 unit near the coastal town of Ansariyah, which resulted in the death of 12 Israeli soldiers. It was revealed by the secretary-general of the resistance later on that the ambush was made possible by the resistance's hacking of Israeli drones earlier that year, which allowed them to acquire intel that helped identify the imminent incursion.

Operations continued as the occupation of Lebanon was withering, with their number increasing substantially. 4,928 of the total 6,058 operations occurred between 1996 and 2000, and 1999 alone saw the resistance carrying out 1,528 operations. The war was long and consuming for the Israelis, and not only the military was suffering. The Israeli society as a whole was crumbling underneath the weight of losses in Lebanon. The resistance using rockets to establish a deterrence equation, which prevented the Israelis from targeting civilians in Lebanon, played a major role in cutting the Israeli society’s appetite for war. The Israelis felt that their government, even after the wars of 1993 and 1996, was unable to stop the rocket retaliation against settlements. Despite the numerous violations committed by the IOF against the rules of such proclaimed and explicit equation, the Israelis did reduce their attacks against civilians in Lebanon.

The victory

The last Israeli soldier left Lebanese soil (except for Shebaa farms and Kfarshoba hills) at 6:48 am on May 24 of the year 2000, and the long-awaited relief of the Lebanese people from their suffering ended. The SLA was breaking up in the days leading up to the 24th of May, culminating in its complete disintegration following that date. The members of the collaborator army were divided into 2 groups, the first surrendered to the resistance, while the second left with the Israelis to occupied Palestine. One of the SLA officers said during his last seconds on Lebanese soil: "We expected to be expelled, but [not like this] with honor." A scene that was engrained in the Lebanese memory, besides the scenes of the prisoners of Al-Khiam detention camp breaking their chains and breathing in the fresh breeze of freedom.

The Israeli occupation regime’s existential concerns became much more vivid following its defeat and humiliation in 2000 and 2006. The mighty "Israel" that always bragged about its operational military art and competency and created an illusion of invincibility became powerless, frail, and paranoid. The resistance and its people not only liberated their land with their blood and sweat but proved to all the Arabs and the oppressed of this world that, with a clear mind, a strong will, and a passionate soul, no occupation shall last.

Two teenagers were arrested last week after authorities discovered their plan to commit a mass shooting at a junior high school in Uvalde, according to the Uvalde Leader-News.

The teens, aged 13 and 14, are now facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder and have been booked into a juvenile detention center in Del Rio.

According to the Leader-News, the teens had originally planned to carry out the shooting on April 20, 2022, which would coincide with the Columbine shooting anniversary during their senior year of high school, but one of the suspects persuaded the other to commit the shooting this year at Morales Junior High, where the 14-year-old was a student.

The teens allegedly created a list prioritizing which students they would kill and planned to steal their neighbors' weapons. They planned to detonate explosive devices at the beginning of the attack, hunt down and kill the students on their list and then indiscriminately kill as many students as they could before committing suicide.

Police have not said the teens actually acquired any weapons.

They appear to have been inspired by the Columbine shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, and often referred to each other using those names, the Leader-News reports.
