The debated proposition for immediate action to move from fossil fuels to renewable energy lost convincingly. "Making large and rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions aren't necessary to protect the earth."

 

Steven Koonin, who served as undersecretary for science at the Department of Energy during the Obama administration and is the founding director of New York University's Center for Urban Science and Progress, argued that making large and rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions aren't necessary to protect the earth. He also contended that doing so isn't cost-effective and that it's immoral. Koonin is also the author of Unsettled: What Climate Science Tells Us, What It Doesn't, and Why It Matters.

can someone explain who made the Q clock? just seems kinda random an anon decided to make a clock in the form of q posts. the problem is that even changing the amount of posts per ring/later changes how the events are transcribed using a straight line from outer to inner. The video features a comic book cartoon of Trump in front of the Trump Tower while ripping off a suit to reveal a superhero costume with a letter "T" as laser beams shoot out of his eyes.

 

Trump did not elaborate on when or where the announcement would take place. Although he revealed little about the December 15 announcement, social media users were quick to guess what the former president had planned for Thursday.

 

"Trump to make 'major announcement' on Thursday? Will he announce a third party run? House Speaker bid? His running mate?" conservative commentator Todd Starnes tweeted.

 

"I get the feeling trump's heard something from his lawyers that something's going to happen this Thursday or Friday and so he wants to make a huge announcement ahead of it," one user suggested.

 

Others speculated that Trump may announce a running mate for his 2024 presidential campaign, which he launched less than a month ago. Ahead of the 2024 announcement, Trump had also cryptically teased a "very big announcement."

Ottawa Police Service superintendent arrested on sex charges

A senior Ottawa Police Service officer has been arrested on sex charges.

Ottawa police say Supt. Mark Patterson, who is 53, is charged with sex assault, sex assault including abusing a position of trust, and breach of trust following an investigation by Ontario Provincial Police.

Police say in a release that the charges stem from allegations that occurred between December 2018 and May 2022 and involve one complainant.

The release says the Ottawa Police Service was made aware of the allegations in June 2022, Patterson was immediately suspended, and the OPP was called in to investigate.

Patterson remains suspended and has been released on an undertaking.

Ottawa police Chief Eric Stubbs says the service takes all allegations of sexual assault and harassment very seriously.

โ€œWe have no tolerance of either,โ€ Stubbs said in a release Thursday. โ€œIt is damaging and debilitating to all those impacted.

โ€œThe allegations and charges in this case are very serious and it is important that we respect the judicial process and for all the facts to be heard.โ€

What I find so fascinating is that the internal conflict between 2 "sides" (Union and Confederacy) was apparently resolved in this case by one man having the ingenuity to basically say his county was not standing up for or against either side but to defend themselves (my interpretation, which could very well be inaccurate.)
