"Illinois banned the sale or possession of semiautomatic weapons Tuesday when Governor J.B. Pritzker signed legislation driven largely by the killing of seven people at a 4th of July parade last year in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. The legislation bans dozens of specific brands or types of rifles and handguns, .50-caliber guns, attachments and rapid-firing devices. Those who already own such guns will have to register them, including serial numbers, with the Illinois State Police. The new law enables merchants to sell or return current stock and Illinois-based manufacturers can sell their wares outside Illinois or to law enforcement."

American Heart Association Study Shows Link Between Covid Vaccines and Heart Inflammation

 

New research in pre-print publication at the American Heart Association’s journal Circulation shows a link between free spike antigens produced by the mRNA Covid shots and a form of heart inflammation known as myocarditis.

 

Harvard Medical School researchers examined 16 adolescents and young adults hospitalized at Massachusetts General Hospital or Boston Children’s with post-vaccination myocarditis from January 2021-February 2022. The subjects had “markedly elevated levels of full-length spike protein” in their blood, “unbounded by antibodies.”

 

The medical researchers affiliated with the hospitals, however, did not find free-floating spike antigens in the 45 “healthy, asymptomatic, age-matched vaccinated control subjects,” despite “essentially indistinguishable” antibody profiling and T-cell responses between the groups.

Madden NFL 23 developer EA Sports says it will remove CPR touchdown celebrations from the game in light of Damar Hamlin’s recent life-threatening injury. We were cheated out of effective people being appointed to key positions, due to approval processes, by people who HATE this country.

We were cheated out of several years of the “normalcy” that we had become accustomed to, due to “Covid”, and all of the idiocy that came with it, some of which we are still experiencing.

We were cheated out of the 2020 and 2022 elections, with no help from the courts, the legislatures, or the executive branch, at the federal or state levels.

The military and law enforcement have failed to step up. It is arguable that they would stand against their own sworn oaths of office, if so ordered. They have become a sham.

And the exposure from the Twitter files shows direct involvement of the IC (Intelligence Community - ALL OF THEM) AGAINST We the People and the Constitution.

And now, “they” are trying to prevent him from running again; the best we can expect is more of the same.

We will NOT be able to vote our way out of this mess; nor will we be able to pray our way out; though I caution against giving up either.

IMO, there is NO effective “Constitutional remedy”; nor is there a means for a “redress of grievances”.

Controversial Catholic cleric Pell dies aged 81

 

Cardinal George Pell, whose conviction on child abuse charges shocked the Catholic Church before being quashed, has died at 81.

The former Vatican treasurer is Australia's highest ranking Catholic cleric, and the most senior Church figure ever jailed for such offences.

He died of heart complications after hip surgery, Church officials say.

Cardinal Pell served as Archbishop of both Melbourne and Sydney before becoming one of the Pope's top aides.

He was summoned to Rome in 2014 to clean up the Vatican's finances, and was often described as the Church's third-ranked official.

But the cleric left his post in 2017, returning to Australia to face trial on child sex abuse charges.

A jury in 2018 found he had abused two boys while Archbishop of Melbourne in the 1990s.

Cardinal Pell, who always maintained his innocence, spent 13 months in prison before the High Court of Australia quashed the verdict in 2020.

However a civil lawsuit - launched by the father of a choirboy that prosecutors alleged Cardinal Pell abused - is still under way.

Meanwhile a landmark inquiry found that he knew of child sexual abuse by priests in Australia as early as the 1970s but failed to take action.

The Child Abuse Royal Commission ran for several years, interviewing thousands of people, and its findings relating to Cardinal Pell were released after his acquittal. Cardinal Pell denied the allegation, insisting it was "not supported by evidence".

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott - a Catholic - praised the cleric as a "saint for our times" and "an inspiration for the ages", saying the charges he'd faced were "a modern form of crucifixion".

But Steve Dimopoulos - a government minister in Cardinal Pell's home state of Victoria - was among those who voiced mixed feelings.

"Today would be a very difficult day for the cardinal's family and loved ones, but also very difficult for survivors and victims of child sexual abuse and their families and my thoughts are with them," he said.

The cardinal was a polarising figure, both in Australia and abroad, something he himself conceded.

Excess winter deaths highest since 1970s, says ONS

There were around 50,100 excess winter deaths in England and Wales in 2017-18 - the highest since the winter of 1975-76, figures from the Office for National Statistics show.

The increase is thought to be down to the flu, the ineffectiveness of the flu vaccine in older people and spells of very cold weather last winter.

Most excess deaths occurred in women and the over-85s.

Similar peaks in excess deaths have been seen in previous years.

Before the 2017-18 peak in excess winter deaths, there were peaks in 2014-15 and 1999-2000.

An extra 6,000 deaths are estimated to have occurred during last winter compared with three years ago.

The figures for last winter, counted as December to March, are still provisional while figures for all other previous winters have been confirmed.

Chilly temperatures

Nick Stripe, head of health analysis and life events at the Office for National Statistics said: "Peaks like these are not unusual - we have seen more than eight peaks during the last 40 years.

"It is likely that last winter's increase was due to the predominant strain of flu, the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine and below average winter temperatures".

Last winter, two strains of flu - influenza A and B - were circulating.

Despite more people over 65 getting a flu jab, the vaccine was more effective in younger people and could explain why flu had a greater impact on elderly people, the ONS said.

This year, it is hoped that an enhanced flu vaccine for elderly people should perform better.

The ONS said the increases could also be explained partly by colder weather and lower temperatures, compared with the five-year average, in December, February and March.

More than a third of the excess deaths were caused by respiratory diseases, such as pneumonia.

GP surgeries and pharmacies should have all their stocks of the flu vaccine by now.

Public Health England has advised all adults over 65 to have the vaccine as soon as possible.

Hunter Brown, Air Force offensive lineman, dead at 21

Hunter Brown, an offensive lineman for Air Force, has died at 21.

The school announced that Brown suffered anunspecified “medical emergency”on Monday while leaving his dorm for class and that first responders were unable to save his life.

“Our players, staff and entire Academy have been so blessed and fortunate to have Hunter as a part of our lives. He was a pure joy to coach and have as a teammate,” head football coach Troy Calhoun said in a statement. “He was tough, a great worker, and no one unselfishly pulled harder for others than Hunter. His mom and dad, Candyce and Dustin, raised a wonderful son who made each of us a better person. We love our great brother, and our thoughts and prayers are with Hunter’s incredible soul and his family.”

Brown was a sophomore from Lake Charles, La. He was majoring in management and minoring in French. He suited up for the Falcons’ win over Nevada on Sept. 23 this season.

“Hunter was a standout offensive lineman on the Falcon football team and was well-respected in his squadron,” Lt. Gen. Richard M. Clark, U.S. Air Force Academy Superintendent, said in a statement. “The entire U.S. Air Force Academy mourns his loss, and our hearts and condolences are with his family, his squadron, and all who were touched by this incredible young man.”

We are heartbroken by the passing of one of our favorite sons. Hunter Brown was a force on and off the field. Please join the Buc Family in prayer for all who loved him.

Brown’s death will be investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the university said.

Within a couple of seconds of looking out the window today, noticed something white descending about 10 feet in front of window. Focused on and thought must be a snowflake. No other snowflakes visible. Observed the white thing as it drifted down. Was a white feather. about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long. Landed on a spike style solar cell with a less than 3 inch diameter planted in the front garden and stayed there. Could have landed anywhere. Thought it was interesting. There are no white birds in this neck of the woods, this time of year. Funny just saw post 18122037 as was typing. Every day is interesting. Signs and wonders is anon's take.

hard to know

anons are mostly early adopters

tend to change in response to new info

(not always - we got our quirks too - but mostly)

so over time, moved away from mainstream narrative

small breaks/changes make it easier to respond to bigger breaks

 

whatever the reason, the public have been much slower to change

and tried not too over time

they were more invested in a consistent narrative, with no major breaks in perspective

so never broke out of the bubble of unreality when it was more "normal" (or seemed so)

they ill equipped psychologically to start the process now, because have no "muscles" built up and no framework for thinking outside the box

At no time before the "vax" did the morticians who spoke out about finding "blood" clots say that they had found clots previously before "vax" administration. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland Delivers Remarks on the Appointment of a Special Counsel

Washington, DC ~ Friday, November 18, 2022

Good afternoon.

 

I am here today to announce the appointment of a Special Counsel in connection with two ongoing criminal investigations that have received significant public attention.

 

The first, as described in court filings in the District of Columbia, is the investigation into whether any person or entity unlawfully interfered with the transfer of power following the 2020 presidential election or the certification of the Electoral College vote held on or about January 6, 2021.

 

The second is the ongoing investigation involving classified documents and other presidential records, as well as the possible obstruction of that investigation, referenced and described in court filings in a pending matter in the Southern District of Florida.

 

I am joined today by Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves, and Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division Kenneth Polite. Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen could not be here. He is currently in Germany, representing the Department at the G7 home affairs and security ministerial.

 

U.S. Attorney Graves has been ably leading the investigations into the events leading up to and on January 6. He and dozens of assistant U.S. Attorneys and other prosecutors have taken on the monumental task of conducting over 900 prosecutions in defense of our democratic institutions.

 

Criminal Division prosecutors under the able leadership of Assistant Attorney General Polite have played a significant role in those prosecutions.

 

Assistant Attorney General Olsen has been ably leading the team responsible for investigating the matter involving classified documents and other presidential records, as well as the possible obstruction of that investigation.

 

All of the career prosecutors assigned to these matters are conducting their work in the best traditions of the Department of Justice.

 

I also want to recognize the efforts of the many FBI agents and other law enforcement personnel who are assigned to these matters. They are working courageously and steadfastly, and are serving our nation honorably. I am grateful to them. We all are.

 

The Department of Justice has long recognized that in certain extraordinary cases, it is in the public interest to appoint a special prosecutor to independently manage an investigation and prosecution.

 

Based on recent developments, including the former President's announcement that he is a candidate for President in the next election, and the sitting President's stated intention to be a candidate as well, I have concluded that it is in the public interest to appoint a Special Counsel.

 

Such an appointment underscores the Department's commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters. It also allows prosecutors and agents to continue their work expeditiously, and to make decisions indisputably guided only by the facts and the law.

Today, I signed an order appointing Jack Smith to serve as Special Counsel. The order authorizes him to continue the ongoing investigations into both of the matters that I have just described and to prosecute any federal crimes that may arise from those investigations.

 

Mr. Smith is a veteran career prosecutor.

 

He began his prosecutorial career in 1994 as an Assistant District Attorney with the New York County DA's Office. In 1999, he became an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, where over the course of nine years he prosecuted matters ranging from gang murders of police officers to civil rights violations. From 2008 to 2010, he served with the International Criminal Court, where he supervised war crimes investigations.

 

In 2010, Mr. Smith returned to the Justice Department to serve as chief of the Public Integrity Section, where he led a team of more than 30 prosecutors who handled public corruption and election crimes cases across the United States. In 2015, he agreed to serve as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee, later becoming the Acting United States Attorney.

 

Most recently, Mr. Smith served as the chief prosecutor for the special court in the Hague charged with investigating and adjudicating war crimes in Kosovo. Mr. Smith will begin his work as Special Counsel immediately, and will be returning to the United States from The Hague.

 

Throughout his career, Jack Smith has built a reputation as an impartial and determined prosecutor, who leads teams with energy and focus to follow the facts wherever they lead.

 

As Special Counsel, he will exercise independent prosecutorial judgment to decide whether charges should be brought. Although the Special Counsel will not be subject to the day-to-day supervision of any official of the Department, he must comply with the regulations, procedures, and policies of the Department.

 

I will ensure that the Special Counsel receives the resources to conduct this work quickly and completely. Given the work done to date and Mr. Smith's prosecutorial experience, I am confident that this appointment will not slow the completion of these investigations.

 

The men and women who are pursuing these investigations are conducting themselves in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism. I could not be prouder of them.

 

I strongly believe that the normal processes of this Department can handle all investigations with integrity. And I also believe that appointing a Special Counsel at this time is the right thing to do. The extraordinary circumstances presented here demand it.

 

Mr. Smith is the right choice to complete these matters in an even-handed and urgent manner.

I think people who say "viruses" don't exist, are missing something. Exosomes are real for one, but we watch people "catch" things in real life, most notably those childhood infections that train our immune systems. Most police departments — including Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police — are required to release an officer’s name within days of a fatal shooting. Not the U.S. Capitol Police, which is controlled by Congress and answers only to Congress. It can keep the public in the dark about the identity and investigation of an officer involved in a shooting indefinitely.

 

Which is what happened with the Jan. 6 shooting of Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed protester in the U.S. Capitol riot who was fatally wounded by a plainclothes police lieutenant as she attempted to breach a set of doors inside the building.

For the past six months, as Congress has proposed legislation to reform police departments across the country, the Capitol Police has stiff-armed government watchdogs, journalists and even lawyers for Babbitt, who have sought the identity of the officer and additional details about the shooting. The USCP still refuses to release his name, in stark contrast to recent high-profile police shootings around the nation.

 

In February, USCP issued a press release promising to “share additional information once the investigation is complete.” But Justice Department investigators closed their probe in April, clearing the officer of criminal wrongdoing in Babbitt’s death, which the medical examiner ruled a homicide. And last month, the D.C. Police — which shares jurisdiction with the Capitol Police and has led the investigation into Babbitt’s shooting — concluded its own internal review of the shooting without making any findings, according to spokeswoman Kristen Metzger.Still, USCP continues “stonewalling the public," according to the head of the police union.

 

“That’s my department’s attorneys for you,” United States Capitol Police Labor Committee Chairman Gus Papathanasiou told RealClearInvestigations. “There is definitely a transparency issue. The department needs to answer those questions. They are stonewalling the public.”

 

Withholding the name of the officer who fired the fatal shot — the only round fired by anyone during the four-hour siege — has bred speculation on the Internet and led to the mistaken identification of at least one officer. USCP Special Agent David Bailey was wrongly fingered as the shooter on social media and conservative news sites.

 

After RCI called attention to the false rumor in an email to USCP, followed by a story on the issue, USCP's communications chief officially knocked it down as “misinformation.”

Now a new name has surfaced in the Babbitt imbroglio — Lt. Michael L. Byrd — and while USCP Communications Director Eva Malecki won’t confirm he is the shooter, in this case she isn’t denying it.

 

In a little-noticed exchange, Byrd was cited by the acting House sergeant at arms during a brief discussion of the officer who shot Babbitt at a Feb. 25 House hearing. Both C-SPAN and CNN removed his name from transcripts, but CQ Transcripts — which, according to its website, provides “the complete word from Capitol Hill; exactly as it was spoken” — recorded the Capitol official, Timothy Blodgett, referring to the cop as “Officer Byrd.” His name is clearly audible in the videotape of the hearing (see video embed further below).

 

Byrd appears to match the description of the shooter, who video footage shows is an African American dressed that day in a business suit. Jewelry, including a beaded bracelet and lapel pin, also match up with photos of Byrd.

 

In addition, Byrd’s resume lines up with what is known about the experience and position of the officer involved in the shooting — a veteran USCP officer who holds the rank of lieutenant and is the commander of the House Chamber Section of the Capitol Police.

 

Following the shooting, Byrd’s Internet footprint was scrubbed, including his social media and personal photos.

 

“Officer Byrd” is named in a videotape of House testimony (around 39:20).

Phone calls and emails to Byrd, who lives in Maryland where he remains on paid administrative leave, went unanswered. His attorney would neither confirm nor deny that the 53-year-old Byrd is the shooter, and warned that disclosing his name poses a safety risk to the officer.

 

The Babbitt family is frustrated USCP won’t release any information about the incident other than the terse and vaguely written statement it issued on Jan. 7: “[A] sworn USCP employee discharged their service weapon, striking an adult female.”

 

Because Congress has exempted the USCP from Freedom of Information Act requests, the family is suing the D.C. Police “for documents that identify the officer who shot Babbitt … as well as notes and summaries of what the officer said regarding the shooting and the reasons he discharged his weapon.” (The D.C. Police has led the investigation into Babbitt’s shooting.) A hearing before a judge is scheduled for Sept. 3. Washington-based watchdog Judicial Watch also is suing for the records.

Babbitt has hired a Maryland lawyer specializing in police-abuse cases who plans to file a wrongful-death lawsuit against USCP and the officer, seeking at least $10 million in damages.

 

The attorney, Terry Roberts, said he has received no information from USCP about the case, even though he contacted the department's general counsel in May. But he said an investigator in his office has positively identified the shooter from a “painstaking” analysis of photos and videos taken by journalists and witnesses inside the Capitol, as well as from tips from citizens and other information.

 

He said a key witness is Taylor Hansen, a freelance journalist who films protests around the country and was outside the Speaker’s Lobby with Babbitt, a 35-year-old Air Force veteran, when she was shot. Hansen claims to have identified Byrd as the officer who opened fired on Babbitt, striking her in the lower left shoulder.

 

"Hansen was present when Ashli was shot,” Roberts told RCI. "He has spoken with my investigator. He provided a reliable and accurate account of what he saw; he also made a video recording, which proved useful."

 

Roberts said he is not ready to name the officer as a defendant in the lawsuit until he meets federal regulations for filing personal-injury claims against government agencies and employees, which could take several more weeks. However, he told RCI, “He’s a guy who left his service revolver in a bathroom.”

In February 2019, Lt. Byrd was investigated for leaving his department-issued Glock-22 firearm unattended in a restroom on the House side of the Capitol, even though the potent weapon, which fires .40-caliber rounds, has no manual safety to prevent unintended firing. Fortunately, the abandoned gun was discovered by another officer during a routine security sweep. A Glock-22 was used in the Babbitt shooting.

 

Byrd addressed the blunder at a roll call the following morning, reportedly telling fellow officers that he would “be treated differently” because of his rank as a lieutenant.

 

At the time, Malecki assured the press that “appropriate actions will be taken” against Byrd. Asked recently what disciplinary actions were administered, the USCP spokeswoman declined comment.

 

Unlike other police forces, USCP does not have to disclose records on police misconduct.

 

More than 700 complaints were lodged against Capitol Police officers between 2017 and 2019, but brass won’t say what the alleged violations were or how the department resolved them. They also won’t disclose how many complaints are in any individual officer’s file.

 

While the USCP has an inspector general, he does not make reports public, unlike other agency watchdogs. His report on Jan. 6 remains secret.

Critics say the 193-year-old agency is in dire need of reform. They point out that even the Secret Service complies with FOIA requests and releases reports and audits by its internal watchdog. The Capitol Police, in contrast, won’t even reveal how many sworn officers it has on hand.

 

“Unlike the [D.C. Police] and the vast majority of local police forces, the USCP provides little public information about its activities,” complained Daniel Schuman, policy director of the D.C. watchdog group Demand Progress, in a recent letter to the heads of the congressional panels who have oversight authority over USCP.

 

D.C. law requires police to identify the officer involved in a police shooting within five business days after an officer-involved death or serious use of force. Officials must publicly release the names and body-camera recordings of all officers involved in the death or use of force. The law does not cover the Capitol Police, however, even though D.C. Police work in conjunction with that agency on homicide cases and fatal traffic accidents.

 

The Babbitt shooting has thrust this double standard into the national spotlight.

 

Some lawmakers on the USCP oversight committees are clamoring for changes, starting with the immediate release of the name of the officer who shot Babbitt. They allege that Capitol Police are protecting an officer who killed an unarmed citizen from public scrutiny.

 

“In many instances, when a law enforcement officer kills an individual for any reason, that officer's name is publicly released. But not in the case of Ashli Babbitt,” said GOP Rep. Mark Schamel, the Washington attorney defending the officer, warned that revealing his client’s name could put his life in jeopardy. He said the officer has received “credible" death threats and has gone into hiding. He would not provide further details about the type of threats or whether they have been reported to the FBI. Schamel also declined to say if authorities have provided the officer a protective security detail.

 

Asked about any threats made against Byrd, USCP General Counsel Tad DiBiase told RCI in an email that "one of our officers has received death threats, threats to his family, and numerous vile, racist sentiments directed at the officer." Without elaborating, he said "these threats are currently under active investigation by the USCP and the FBI."

 

The only publicly known threat made against the officer who shot Babbitt came from Garret Miller, who was arrested in Texas in part because of threats he made two weeks after participating in the Capitol riot. However, Miller circulated the wrong photos of the officer on Facebook, falsely identifying Officer Bailey, who is also African American. Miller remains in federal custody.

 

The FBI and USCP declined to answer when asked if any threats have been directed against Lt. Byrd specifically.

Have been confirmed to fail, or cannot tolerate, PAP therapy despite attempts to improve compliance

What will it accomplish? One hundred twenty-six (126) patients participated in a clinical study across 22 investigational sites to support the original approval of Inspire® UAS. Inspire® UAS therapy provided the majority of patients with clinically meaningful reductions in the severity of their obstructive sleep apnea and improvements in their quality of life. More than half of all patients were considered responders to Inspire® UAS therapy, experiencing at least a 50% reduction in AHI and an AHI of less than 20 events per hour at the 12-month endpoint. Inspire® UAS therapy responders also experienced at least a 25% reduction in oxygen desaturation index (ODI), a scale used to indicate the severity of sleep apnea. The results of this study in addition to a small clinical study in pediatric patients with Down Syndrome provided support for expanding the indications to include older adolescents between the ages of 18 and 21.

 

When should it not be used? The Inspire® UAS system should not be used for the following:

 

Types of apnea (central and mixed) other than obstructive are more than 25% of the total AHI

Any physical finding that would compromise the performance of upper airway stimulation, such as the presence of complete blockage of the upper airway

Any condition or procedure that has compromised neurological control of the upper airway

Patients who are unable or do not have the necessary assistance to operate the sleep remote

Patients who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant

Patients with an implantable device that may be susceptible to unintended interaction with the Inspire® system. Consult the device manufacturer to assess the possibility of interaction.

Patients who require magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) other than what is specified in the MR Conditional labeling

Speaker Kevin McCarthy and leading Republicans are expected to soon make good on a vow to keep three Democrats from seats on influential committees in the new House.

 

McCarthy's focus is Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, two California lawmakers who have served on the House Intelligence Committee.

 

"Speaker McCarthy confirms that Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, and Ilhan Omar are getting kicked off the Intel and Foreign Affairs Committees. Promises made. Promises kept!" Rep. Troy Nehls, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, tweeted on Tuesday.

 

McCarthy has long pledged to oust the three, citing objections to their behavior and the precedent of the previous House removing committee assignments for Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona.

 

In those cases, the Democratic majority and some Republicans in the House voted to remove Greene and Gosar over their inflammatory conduct, including Greene spreading conspiracy theories some of which she has since renounced and Gosar sharing an animated social media video depicting violence against President Joe Biden and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. (Gosar said amid the controversy, "I do not espouse violence.")

 

The two far-right Republicans were also denounced last year for attending a white nationalist rally in Florida. McCarthy, who was fresh off a trip to Israel, responded at the time that "there’s no place in our party for any of this. … The party should not be associated any time, any place with somebody who is antisemitic.”

 

But sources have since said that Greene, despite her past controversies, will likely have a seat on the House Oversight Committee in the new Congress.

 

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise was asked during a press conference on Tuesday what the process would be for stripping Democratic members of their assignments and said no one had yet been assigned to committees. But he suggested removals were a new standard first set by Democrats.

 

"As we see what comes out, the Democrats set a precedent that we urged them strongly not to go down last Congress," Scalise said.

 

"They decided that they were going to break the precedent that had been in place for over 200 years and remove members of the opposing party that our party selected to be on committees," he continued. "And so that was a practice they set and so, obviously, we're going to be looking very closely at who they appoint. They haven't appointed anybody yet to committees, but we're gonna see if they do."

 

After Republicans won back the House in November, McCarthy reiterated to Fox News that he planned to keep the three Democrats from their committee posts.

Rep. Pete Aguilar, the chair of the House Democratic caucus, on Tuesday declined to elaborate on next steps should Schiff and Swalwell be blocked or booted by Republicans from the intelligence panel.

 

"We will send the names of the individuals who this caucus supports and are qualified to serve on committees," Aguilar told reporters. "What the speaker does beyond that is something that we will handle … but it isn't anything we're going to get in today."

"I suspect he will do whatever Marjorie Taylor Greene wants him to do," Schiff said of McCarthy. "He is a very weak leader of his conference, meaning that he will adhere to the wishes of the lowest common denominator. And if that lowest common denominator wants to remove people from committees, that's what they'll do."

 

McCarthy has accused Schiff of lying to the public during references to a disputed dossier that claimed to outline links between former President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia.

 

McCarthy has also called Swalwell a "national security threat" for Swalwell's reported run-ins with an alleged Chinese spy, stating there's no way he should be allowed to serve on the committee.

Swalwell has not been accused of wrongdoing and he has said he stopped contact with the woman after federal authorities briefed him, according to the Associated Press.

McCarthy, as speaker, has the power to keep Schiff and Swalwell off the intelligence panel, but for any other committee like Omar on foreign affairs the full House would need to vote by simple majority to block her.

 

Separately, McCarthy's criticized Omar over what he described as her "repeated antisemitic and anti-American remarks." Omar has previously apologized for some of her statements, including about lobbyists on behalf of Israel's government.

 

Omar has also fired back at McCarthy, accusing him of amplifying rhetoric targeting minorities.

 

"McCarthy's effort to repeatedly single me out for scorn and hatred including threatening to strip me from my committee does nothing to address the issues our constituents deal with. It does nothing to address inflation, healthcare, or solve the climate crisis," she said in a statement in November.

 

"What it does is gin up fear and hate against Somali-Americans and anyone who shares my identity, and further divide us along racial and ethnic lines," she said.

I think that is good insight. I would agree. A lot of truckers around here do "look white", yet I've encountered those that by their accents are Eastern European/Russian (don't know about Ukrainian). We have a large contingent from Africa and many of them care for disabled people.

 

My thought for USA: We have been known for quite some time as a nation of immigrants. Though a true reveal on what is happening at the border might make people of all political stripes want to close it, our survival depends on having a viable population. Anyone coming here that is willing to contribute, abide by just laws and recognize our Constitution is okay with me. That does not mean I don't feel sadness over the replacement of previous cultural influences and the shifting of some entire communities to different demographics. Adrenaline shifts in the body can precipitate the heart attacks we are seeing in the vaccinated. People with adrenal fatigue might do okay, but they wouldn't be good for very much.
