I don't have any direct evidence of that, but, I do have a source that's fairly reliable. The source is the Library of Congress. The Library of Congress is a federal government agency that manages the largest collection of books, periodicals, manuscripts, photographs, prints, maps, and other forms of recorded knowledge in the world. The Library of Congress is also one of the largest research libraries in the world, and is the third largest library in the United States, after the Library of Congress and the Library of Congress. I hope that's a good enough source for you.

New York to Offer ‘Free’ Taxpayer Funded Abortion Pills at City-Run Clinics

 

Democrat New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced that the city will offer “free” taxpayer-funded abortion pills at four city-run clinics.

 

The announcement of free abortion pills was made on Tuesday as part of Adams’ “New York City Women’s Health Agenda.”

 

“For too long health and health care has been centered around men, but that changes today,” said Mayor Adams.

 

Adams continued, “we have been standing on the sidelines of women’s health for too long, and I have personally seen firsthand how the health system is letting our women down. Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms.

Moderna wants to quadruple the price of its Covid-19 vaccine as hundreds die per day

 

The company has benefited from taxpayer-funded research and guaranteed contacts but plans to price gouge Americans

 

With the US federal government’s stock of vaccines for residents running out, Moderna now plans to raise the cost of its vaccine from $26 to up to $130 in a decision that understandably has Americans pissed.

 

One of those leading charge against this obvious price-gouging has been Independent US Senator Bernie Sanders who notes – in addition to the fact that US taxpayers bankrolled the entire research and development of the vaccine to the tune of $1.7 billion and guaranteed billions of dollars in sales figures across the world – is the fact that it only costs $2.85 to produce a single dose.

 

It shows the unbridled greed of Big Pharma and the US capitalist class in general, who are willing to price out poor and working-class Americans from a potentially life-saving drug. That is especially pronounced when the country is stuck in a virtual case plateau, where tens of thousands are hospitalized every week and hundreds are dying every day, which is obviously contributing to declining US life expectancy.

 

In virtually every other civilized country, such a thing would not be possible. There are laws in place to protect consumers and patients. Not so in the US: Big Pharma is essentially free to set prices as it sees fit despite the detriment to public health.

 

As Sanders notes, there was a time in our country when drug makers acted for the public good. For example, when Jonas Salk invented the polio vaccine, he refused a patent for it that could have easily made him a billionaire to the tune of $7 billion. But Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel, who is pushing a taxpayer-funded COVID-19 jab, became a billionaire overnight and is worth $6.2 billion. The juxtaposition could not be more illustrative of how things have changed.

 

The US government has a legal right to set a price cap on drugs and medicines that it helped develop via public funds. In order for the US to effectively “live with the virus,” this must be a prerequisite. Jabs must be affordable and accessible. They are neither at this point. On my latest trip to the US to obtain a bivalent booster in rural America, it was downright impossible. New York was another story. There were kiosks on every corner to promote the jab – but not in the American heartland. We cannot have an unequal, disjointed medical system.

 

Furthermore, this insane corporate greed lends credence to those who see the jabs as a conspiracy or at least a hand-up to Big Pharma. With these decisions being made by pharma execs, how can you blame them? I don’t count myself in this group – but I can easily see their point in light of this news. When the status quo – that you get your jab and get a booster of every few months or so – lines the pockets of billionaires, how could anyone see this as moral or desirable? I am pro-public health but disagree with the principle of enriching billionaires.

 

Not only will this affect the pockets of average Americans, many of whom are uninsured, but it will also significantly impact the budgets of programs like Medicaid, which provides healthcare for low-income families. This will further burden taxpayers downstream by raising the program’s price tag. The cost in terms of dollars and lives will be in the millions (minimum) and the thousands respectively, though it is difficult to estimate at this time.

 

Moderna has made an estimated $19 billion in two years’ time and given lavish compensation packages to its executives on the back of taxpayer money and guarantees. In addition to the aforementioned billionaire Moderna had produced, there is a laundry list of others. And all of this during a pandemic that has killed over 1.1 million Americans. This is unconscionable.

Microsoft CEO Confirms 10,000 Job Cuts As Tech Layoffs Intensify

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella wrote in a blog post that he plans to cut 10,000 jobs, or about 5% of its workforce, through the end of the year.

He said the company, which has been operating for nearly a half-century, will incur a $1.2 billion charge in the second quarter related to the move.

First, as we saw customers accelerate their digital spend during the pandemic, we're now seeing them optimize their digital spend to do more with less. We're also seeing organizations in every industry and geography exercise caution as some parts of the world are in a recession and other parts are anticipating one. At the same time, the next major wave of computing is being born with advances in AI, as we're turning the world's most advanced models into a new computing platform.

President Joe Biden’s younger brother Frank Biden peddled White House influence during Joe Biden’s presidency, according to a CNN report that indicates the Biden family business remains operational even since Joe Biden was elected.

 

On at least two separate occasions, Frank Biden publicly cited Joe Biden as a means by which he has influence, despite holding no government position or relation to the White House other than by having the same last name as the president and being his sibling.

 

In October, Frank Biden spoke in Venice, Italy, as the keynote speaker at a BioSig Technologies conference about “the future of global health care.” BioSig Technologies is a health technology company. The trip was not paid for by Frank Biden, who refused to disclose the financier.

The speaker was not a doctor. Nor did he have an extensive background in health care, global or otherwise. But Francis W. “Frank” Biden did have something else: A brother in the White House.

 

In his speech, Frank Biden talked about his family and his brother’s cancer initiative, according to attendees. Following his remarks, the leader of a trade group who attended the event promptly posted a video from Venice informing members he represents that he’d spoken with Frank Biden about their efforts to lobby the federal government on Medicare reimbursement rules. The president’s brother, he told his members, had agreed to help.

 

Another case of Frank Biden’s influence peddling occurred in Boston in 2021 — the year after Joe Biden was elected. On behalf of the same company, BioSig Technologies, Frank Biden told health professionals at a dinner that he had a “bully pulpit” due to “my brother Joey.”

 

CNN reported:

 

At that event, Frank Biden boasted of “the bully pulpit that I have as a result of the privilege of being associated with my brother Joey,” and vowed to “do everything in my power to support you to get the job done, to get federal dollars to your research,” a video of his speech shows.

 

Frank Biden’s working history with BioSig Technologies is unclear. According to the report, Frank Biden initially told CNN he had worked for the company for a year before reversing himself, claiming he never worked for the company, only that he gave BioSig Technologies “informal sales assistance.”

 

The Biden family has had multiple instances of influence peddling, but none so recent as Frank Biden’s. Hunter Biden, Frank Biden’s nephew, has repeatedly appeared to sell influence based on his relationship with his father, who has been an elected official for over 50 years.

 

According to Breitbart News’s senior contributor Peter Schweizer, Hunter earned great sums of money from Ukraine for which he “offered no real work,” a statement that infers Hunter was profiting from peddling White House influence. In one of the most blatant cases, Hunter was paid $83,000 per month in 2017 to be on the board of Burisma. Hunter was appointed to the board of Burisma in 2014 with no prior experience in the energy sector or Ukraine.

 

In 2015, Joe Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion from Ukraine if the Ukrainian government did not fire the prosecutor who was investigating Burisma. In 2017, Hunter’s salary was cut in half when Joe Biden left the White House as then-Vice President.

 

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), House Oversight Committee chair, has vowed to investigate the influence peddling by probing the Biden family’s bank records. In April, Breitbart News reported that more than 150 of the Biden family business bank transactions were flagged by United States banks as suspicious. Those flagged reports were sent to Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen for further review to ascertain if the Biden family was engaged in wrongdoing.

A Ukrainian government helicopter crashed next to a kindergarten on the outskirts of Kyiv on Wednesday morning, killing several government officials onboard and people on the ground, which includes children.

 

Update: Death toll revised down

In the best news that could be hoped for, perhaps, with such stories the official death toll has been revised down again to 14 in the wake of today’s helicopter crash. Earlier in the day, it had been as high as 18. Thankfully, the number of children said to have been killed after the craft hit the ground next to a school has also been revised down to one.

 

The BBC reports the Ukranian state security service is investigating the cause of the incident, with possibilities including malfunction, accident, and sabotage. It is reported the crash happened in the dark, while there was a power cut in Kyiv, implying it is possible the pilot may simple not have seen a building while flying low.

At least 15 people were killed by a helicopter crash in Brovary, a suburb to the east of Ukrainian capital city Kyiv on Wednesday morning, tragically among the dead are several children.

 

The government helicopter was reportedly carrying the Ukrainian interior minister Denys Monastyrsky to the frontline when it crashed, the wreckage appearing to have come down in a Kindergarten play area before starting a large fire. Interior Minister Monastyrsky, his ministerial deputy Yevhen Yenin, State Secretary for the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yurii Lubkovych, and at least three children are among the 15 reported dead.

 

While the number of injured reported has varied wildly according to different sources, the Ukrainian government’s own press portal reports 29 injured including 15 children.

 

There is no indication yet whether the crash was due to mechanical failure, pilot error, or enemy action. The BBC reports the remarks of a Ukrainian Air Force spokesman who says the investigation will likely take days.

 

Interior Minister Monastyrsky, who was reportedly a close ally of Ukrainian President Zelensky, is the most senior member of the government to have been killed in the war triggered by Russia’s invasion last year. Tributes have already been made for the politician. Zelensky said of the crash: “Today, a terrible tragedy occurred in Brovary, Kyiv region. A SES (state emergency services) helicopter crashed, and a fire broke out at the crash site. The pain is unspeakable.”

WEF Promotes Scientist Behind False "Billions Will Die" From Climate Change Claim

 

Johan Rockström also promoted debunked "planetary boundaries" hypothesis

 

The World Economic Forum in Davos just heard from Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Rockström claimed that there are “16 biophysical systems… that regulate the entire climate system on Earth” and that “nine of these 16 are showing signs of instability. Push them too far, and they will shift over from supporting humanity to starting to undermine humanity.”

 

Rockström is referring to something called the “planetary boundaries hypothesis,” which I debunked with a team of others over 10 years ago. While the United Nations, Oxfam, and WWF embraced the hypothesis, it is so scientifically flawed and misleading to be junk science.

 

There are, to be sure, real biophysical thresholds in the global climate system, and partly also for ocean acidification, ozone depletion, and phosphorous levels. But six of the “planetary boundaries” are not actually “boundaries” in any meaningful sense. They are biodiversity loss, nitrogen levels, land-use change, aerosol loading, freshwater use, and chemical pollution.

 

As such, there are no “global tipping points” at which point various ecological processes stop functioning, or function in fundamentally different ways. Setting boundaries for those mechanisms is thus a wholly political and Malthusian exercise. “A lax boundary may result in more degradation,” we noted. “A strict boundary less. But there is no evidence that exceeding the boundary will result in a fundamentally different magnitude of impacts associated with human activities.”

 

And there is little evidence, we noted, to support Rockström’s claim that transgressing the boundaries would have an overall negative impact on humankind

 

Again, there are good reasons to limit human development to protect ecosystems. But doing so usually has positive and negative and impacts, and the net benefit varies. And the claim that there are hard limits and “tipping points” is an abuse of science and power.

 

What’s more, Rockström isn’t just wrong about “planetary boundaries,” he’s also wrong about climate change’s impact on food supply.

 

As it turns out, I debunked him a second time in 2020. Here’s what happened.

World Economic Forum declares new crises

 

The “climate crisis” has evolved into a “planetary,” “safety” and “justice” crisis, as well as a crisis of the spirit, according to a recent presentation at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting.

 

Climate change has long been a priority of the World Economic Forum, which brings together hundreds of world leaders every year to consider new policies to manage the global system. The international organization is holding its 53rd annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland this week.

 

“Dear friends, scientifically this is not a climate crisis. We are now facing something deeper,” Swedish scientist Johan Rockström said during a presentation Wednesday, adding that we are “really putting humanity’s future at risk. This is a planetary crisis.”

 

Professor Joyeeta Gupta followed up to describe how the “planetary crisis” is also multiple other types of crises, as well.

Later, Fawn Sharp, the president of the National Congress of American Indians, declared that the planetary, safety and justice crisis is also a crisis of the spirit.

 

“Our faith leaders, they know that this crisis is much more than physical and environmental schisms,” she said. “We have a deeply rooted spirit as a people that is in desperate need of healing and restoration, and we must look to our almighty creator to find our proper place in humanity.”

 

Their comments came during a panel discussion called “Leading the Charge through Earth’s New Normal,” one of dozens being held at the WEF’s annual meeting this week. The full presentation is viewable on the WEF’s website.

Canada Launches Major Taxpayer-Funded Effort to Censor the Public Online

 

Canada’s government has launched a major taxpayer-funded effort to censor the Canadian people online, arguing that “disinformation” is threatening the nation’s “democracy.”

 

The Canadian government is pumping millions of tax dollars into “research projects” that claim to “combat online disinformation.”

 

A total of 16 such schemes will receive a whopping $1.2 million of taxpayer money each.

 

In an announcement about the move, the federal government’s Department of Canadian Heritage justified the effort by insisting that censoring the public online is “essential” to “preserve democracy.”

 

The department claims that the government’s efforts to financially strengthen “the war on misinformation” are necessary to safeguard freedom of expression.

 

“Our democracy relies on a common set of facts,” the Canada Heritage declares in the official announcement.

 

Do not expect this “common set of facts” to be defined, however.

 

As we’ve seen repeatedly in recent years, vague terms are frequently used by those in power to censor thought and speech, which is typically flagged as so-called “misinformation” or “disinformation.”

 

Such terms are usually used to describe information that conflicts with the official narrative while they avoid stating, or proving, that the info is false.

 

The implication is that without having this nebulous “common set of facts,” as well as “reliable sources of information” – and with citizens expressing themselves freely – democracy fails.

 

But not because of any government overreach, (un)justified spending, or constant and puzzling “misinformation” witch-hunts, of course.

 

Democracy will apparently fail because of “the increase in harmful content online, including misinformation and disinformation,” the government site asserts.

 

The $1.2 is part of the money earmarked for the Digital Citizen Contribution Program (DCCP).

 

Yet the sum is a drop in the ocean as far as DCCP funding goes.

 

In total, it will be given $31 million over a period of four years.

 

Online “disinformation” is high on the list of evils that the DCCP is set up to combat while ensuring something referred to as “social cohesion.”

 

Perhaps by coincidence, the same turn of phrase has recently started to crop up in many World Economic Forum (WEF) pamphlets.

 

The WEF has also made fighting “misinformation” a top priority, listing it as one of the top “global risks” for the next few years.

The High Court of Justice ruled on Wednesday that the appointment of Shas leader Aryeh Deri as interior and health minister was “unreasonable in the extreme” due to his criminal convictions, most recently for tax fraud in 2022.

 

The dramatic landmark ruling added fuel to simmering tensions between the government and the legal community over plans to overhaul the judicial system. It sparked immediate calls by the ruling coalition to redouble the push for legislation intended to shackle the court’s ability to rule on government or Knesset decisions, while the opposition hailed the decision and called for Deri to immediately vacate his cabinet posts.

 

“The majority of the justices of the panel determined that this appointment is severely unreasonable, and as such the prime minister must remove him from his role,” said the High Court in a statement following the ruling.

 

In the 10-to-1 ruling, the court accepted the opinion of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara that Deri’s appointment did not pass a test for “reasonability” that courts can use to gauge government decisions.

 

Coalition members have vowed to pass a law prohibiting courts from overruling the government based on “reasonability,” but this will likely not be sufficient to overcome the ruling.

 

The petitions against Deri’s appointment, brought by the Movement for Quality Government, the Movement for Ethical Behavior and a group of private individuals, argued that his 2022 conviction on tax fraud charges, as well as his conviction in 1999 on bribery charges, made him unfit to be minister.

 

Because Deri was only given a suspended sentence by the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court last year as part of a plea bargain, it was never determined whether the conviction carried moral turpitude, a finding which would have required him to sit out politics for seven years.

 

The High Court said Deri noted that as part of the plea deal, he had given the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court the impression that he was retiring from political life. Deri nonetheless went on to head the Shas party’s Knesset slate in the 2022 elections.

According to a new report from CNN, federal investigators interviewed Biden’s attorneys but failed to use a 302 form to summarize what went on during the interview.

 

CNN sources have revealed that Patrick Moore, a lawyer who initially discovered classified materials while packing up an office for former think tank of Biden, was interviewed by a team led by U.S. Attorney John Lausch during the initial review of the President’s handling of documents. The report stated that the absence of a “302” form to document the interview highlights the informal nature of the inquiry at the time.

 

Are we witnessing a cover up?

 

According to a different report, the Department of Justice (DOJ) opted out from sending FBI agents to President Joe Biden’s Delaware home where classified documents were found.

 

The DOJ decided to look the other way as Biden’s personal attorneys searched the home for top secret documents.

 

“The Justice Department considered having FBI agents monitor a search by President Biden’s lawyers for classified documents at his homes but decided against it, both to avoid complicating later stages of the investigation and because Mr. Biden’s attorneys had quickly turned over a first batch and were cooperating, according to people familiar with the matter,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

 

The report is shocking to say the least considering sensitive information was found in Biden’s home and instead of taking the situation seriously, the Department of Justice looked the other way, leaving Biden’s lawyers to use their own judgement with the classified documents.

 

The Department of Justice doesn’t seem to serious at getting to the bottom of what is going on with the Biden family.

 

On Tuesday, the Biden White House was hit with an ethics complaint over the ongoing classified document scandal. Government watchdog, Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT) filed a complaint with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.

 

“The American public will not tolerate a two-tiered system of justice – with well-connected insiders subject to a lower standard of scrutiny than the normal citizen,” PPT director Mike Chamberlain said to Fox News.

 

“President Biden promised the most ethical and transparent administration in history,” Chamberlain said. “If the White House compounded a scandal involving possible mishandling of classified documents by improperly using taxpayer resources for his personal benefit and putting White House attorneys in positions that created conflicts of interest, we could be witnessing a serious betrayal of the public’s already-plummeting trust.”

 

“It also creates the spectre of possible obstruction of a congressional investigation, depending on the legal basis for the intervention and any future privileges claimed by the White House on this escalating scandal,” he continued.

 

PTT claims that “taxpayer resources may have been inappropriately used by senior White House lawyers, including Special Counsel to the President Richard Sauber, to personally benefit Joe Biden.”

 

“We further believe that the apparent representation of Mr. Biden by the White House Counsel’s Office in this matter creates an untenable conflict of interest for that office,” the complaint stated.

 

“The result, intended or not, could be to reduce transparency into the mishandling of state secrets and foreclose disclosure of communications between White House Counsel staff while acting on behalf of Joe Biden in his capacity as a citizen facing the prospect of criminal prosecution,” it added.

Facebook Shuts Down 'RT in Russian' Page

 

Facebook* has shut down the largest Russian-language media page on the platform, RT in Russian, on Monday, with the account now being unavailable to subscribers and not showing in the search results.

When clicking on the page link, an inscription that the content is not available appears, the broadcaster said.

"Facebook shut down RT in Russian page without any explanation. The page has more than 2 million followers, making it one of the largest Russian-language media pages on Facebook. We expect a response from the customer service team," RT said in a statement.

The West has rolled out a massive sanctions campaign against Russia after it started its military operation in Ukraine, which has also affected Russian-language media that the EU and the US claim are state propaganda spreading fake news.

At press time, the English version of RT remains active of Facebook.

Since President Joe Biden took office in 2021 anonymous Chinese donors have poured millions of dollars to the university that houses President Joe Biden’s think tank, where at least 10 classified documents were identified.

 

Since Biden’s inauguration, the University of Pennsylvania has received $51 million in foreign funding, including $14 million from unnamed contributors in China and Hong Kong and $2.4 million from unnamed contributors in Saudi Arabia, according to Department of Education records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon. The school also received $1 million from a source in the Cayman Islands in June to fund its Penn Wharton China program.

 

This funding is in addition to the $61 million that the University of Pennsylvania received from Chinese donors between 2017 and 2020, which was reported by the Free Beacon in 2021.

 

The names of the newer foreign donors are being kept under wraps by the Biden administration’s Department of Education—a departure from prior administrations that would publish this information in an online database. American universities that receive federal grants are required by law to disclose their overseas funders to the government.

 

The funding details come as Biden’s think tank, the Penn Biden Center at the University of Pennsylvania, has been in the media spotlight following reports that federal investigators found classified documents at the Washington, D.C.-based institute and his Delaware home. The Penn Biden Center, which launched in 2017, served as a home base for Biden's top national security officials, many of whom were employed by the center before joining the Biden administration. The White House is also facing criticism for a lack of transparency about who had access to Biden's home and the Penn Biden Center where the classified documents were found.

 

The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC), a government watchdog group, said the donor records raise questions about whether any foreign funding has gone into the Penn Biden Center. The University of Pennsylvania told the Free Beacon last week that the think tank hasn’t received any earmarked donations from foreign sources and said it is financed by general university funds.

 

Tom Anderson, the director of the NLPC’s Government Integrity Project, said the omission of donor names from the Department of Education’s post-2021 records makes it more difficult to track the money sources.

 

"The Department of Education’s policy of hiding the identities of foreign entities showering our universities with billions of dollars is promoting a toxic brew of dark money and corruption," Anderson told the Free Beacon.

US transfers weapons stored in Israel to Ukraine

The United States has transferred hundreds-of-thousands of munitions from storage in Israel to Ukraine, according to U.S. and Israeli officials on Wednesday.

 

The U.S. and Israel agreed to move 300,000 155-millimeter shells, "some" of which have already been transferred to Ukraine, a U.S. official told CNN.

 

While only U.S. military personnel are able to access the locked weapons warehouses, Israel has an agreement to use the ammunition in emergency scenarios with U.S. approval.

 

Moving the munitions is "American business" and Israel does not need to approve the weapons transfer, Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Richard Hecht said.

 

The United States plans to replenish Israel with any transferred weapons, The Jerusalem Post reported.

 

An IDF spokesperson said the transfer of weapons does not mean Israel is shifting its policy on Ukrainian military aid. Israel has condemned the invasion, sent humanitarian aid and taken in refugees, but the country has not sent military aid.

My sister-in-law just called me.

Council member Brooke Pinto, a Democrat who proposing the measure, the E-BIKE Act, said the legislation is "aimed at reducing cost-barriers that prevent residents from purchasing an electric bike while supporting small business owners here in DC."

 

She also said the bill is related the expansion of bike lanes in the the nation's capital.

 

"As we continue to invest in our protected bike lane network, this legislation is crucial to ensuring as many residents as possible can benefit from this expanded infrastructure," Pinto also said.

 

According to the legislation, residents earning 80% or more of the median family income would be eligible for instant rebates of "up to $400 or 30% of the bike's purchase price – whichever is lower or $500 for cargo electric bicycle models."

 

Residents with annual earnings below 80% of the median family income in D.C. could receive up to $1,200, or 75% of the price e-bike of the bike.

Medical group finds U.S. significantly more permissive in child transgender treatment than Europe

 

U.S. should "reconsider" its approach to gender treatment, group says.

A medical advocacy group said in a new report this month that the United States is an outlier compared to much of Europe in its broadly permissive approach to radical transgender treatments for young children. 

 

The group, Do No Harm, said in its report "Reassigned" that many northern and western European countries "share the United States’ broad support for transgenderism," yet those nations nevertheless "reject the gender-affirming care model for children" that is prevalent in the United States. 

 

That "care model" includes the practice of "puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and sex reassignment surgeries," which multiple nations in Europe have lately been rejecting in favor of more careful and evidence-based treatment. 

 

"In fact, several countries, including the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Finland,have explicitly abandoned it in recent years in part due to fear that medical intervention has become overprescribed," the report says.

 

"In a sharp departure from the gender affirmation model employed in the United States, these countries now discourage automatic deference to a child’s self-declarations on the grounds that the risks outweigh the benefits, while also calling for months-long psychotherapy sessions to address co-occurring mental health problems," it continues.

 

The United States, meanwhile, is "the most permissive country" among all of them "when it comes to the legal and medical gender transition of children."

 

The U.S. "should reconsider the gender- affirming care model to protect the youngest and most vulnerable patients," the group said.

Mexican cartels have control over the US-Mexico border, using their position to smuggle drugs and violent criminals into the country at the expense of the safety of Americans, a border town official told Fox News.

 

"This is not a political discussion," Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines told the outlet. "This is a national security issue."

 

"Unless this situation changes and we take back control from the cartels, for the trafficking coming across our border, it will only get worse," he added.

 

The Border Patrol officials are too overwhelmed by the recent migrant surge under the Biden administration, allowing the cartels to easily establish effective and lucrative smuggling operations, according to Lines. Migrants unable to pay for help crossing the border are used by the cartels to traffic drugs in exchange for entry into the US.

 

"There's a lot of people that don't like the United States for whatever reason, and there's plenty of people that want to get in here and do some damage," Yuma resident and farmer Alex Muller tolf Fox News. "It's just like a ticking time bomb."

 

Last year alone saw close to 100 known or suspected terrorists arrested at the border, an alarmingly high number compared to the previous five years combined, which saw a total of just 26 arrests.

 

The human smuggling industry has seen massive profit increases in recent years, having raked in $13 billion as of July – up from to $500 million in 2018. Fentanyl seizures have also skyrocketed, increasing by 206 percent in two years.

 

"You have all these cartels that basically run this border, funneling people and drugs across," a Yuma resident and fifth-generation farmer, Hank Auza, told Fox News. "That’s big money and people."

 

Migrant encounters have also increased since the Biden administration took office, from 480,000 in 2020 to 2.3 million in 2022.

 

"The whole world is crossing the border, and these are the people who want to get caught," Muller told Fox News. "There's a lot of people who don't want to get caught."

Pfizer, Fauci staffers sign off on research finding mRNA COVID vaccines produce worse antibodies 1 of 2

Second study in a month to find "class switch" to so-called IgG4 antibodies, known for their mild immune response, in mRNA recipients alone. Future of Johnson & Johnson's traditional vaccine unclear as demand craters.

Less than a month after the CDC marked the two-year anniversary of the first administered COVID-19 vaccine by telling Americans to get a bivalent booster, two peer-reviewed German studies have foundthat mRNA vaccines — the vast majority of the U.S. market — induce worse antibodies compared to traditional adenovirus vaccines.

The first paper, published in Science Immunology Dec. 22, focused on mRNA boosters, while the second, published in Frontiers in Immunology Jan. 12, found the same association with the two-dose primary series.

The Frontiers paper has the added distinction of a Pfizer scientist serving as its editor and one of Anthony Fauci's staffers at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as a peer reviewer, suggesting the mRNA vaccine maker and feds were aware of a potential antibody problem around the time Omicron-targeting boosters were authorized.

The findings call into question the government's promotion of bivalent boosting even while regulators admit that newer COVID variants are evading vaccines.

New York City's Department of Health told residents Friday the XBB.1.5 Omicron subvariant now comprises three-quarters of documented COVID infections in the city. 

It is "the most transmissible form of COVID-19 that we know of to date and may be more likely to infect people who have been vaccinated or already had COVID-19," the department tweeted. It didn't answer Just the News queries about the evidence for its claims about vaccination or prior infection.

The CDC said XBB.1.5 accounted for 43% of documented infections nationwide last week, with under 3% from BA.5, which is part of the bivalent cocktail. University of Tokyo virologists shared research Sunday that found XBB.1.5 exhibits "profound immune resistance" and "augmented ACE2 binding affinity," and hence "increased transmissibility," due to specific mutations.

While the World Health Organization deemed XBB variants "the most antibody-resistant variants to date" in a "rapid risk assessment" last week, it said XBB.1.5 specifically "does not carry any mutation known to be associated with potential change in severity."

The University of Lübeck researchers behind the Frontiers study confirmed the so-called IgG4 antibody "class switch" first observed by their peers at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg among healthcare workers in the Science Immunology paper, which was submitted 11 days earlier in August.

The Lübeck researchers recruited 157 people starting in December 2020 and split them into six groups, five of which had no known prior infection. 

The first five received either two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or traditional AstraZeneca, or one dose of AstraZeneca followed by either a Pfizer or Moderna dose. The sixth group — infected but not hospitalized — received one or two Pfizer doses.

"[R]epeated immunization of [uninfected] individuals with the mRNA vaccines increased the proportion of the IgG4 subclass over time which might influence the long-term Ab [antibody] effector functions," according to the paper. 

IgG4 is known for a mild immune response that "can even inhibit the effector functions of IgG1 and IgG3" antibodies, the researchers said. (Elsevier's ScienceDirect says IgG1 accounts for about 70% of total antibodies in adults, while IgG3 "mediates comparable functional activity.")

The groups that received any Moderna dose, whether a full primary series or just second dose, had a "higher potential to generate" long-term IgG4 responses compared to those who received any Pfizer dose, the paper says, speculating the higher mRNA concentration in Moderna might explain this.

Researchers didn't find a long-term IgG4 response in those who received two doses of AstraZeneca, the non-mRNA vaccine. (The study period was 270 days.)

The sixth group, with documented prior infection, which received the Pfizer vaccine, had "comparable long-term IgG subclass levels when compared to" uninfected Pfizer recipients, but "their IgG4 response seemed not to be or barely induced," the paper says. This result was "likely generated by re-activation" of memory B cells induced by natural infection.

"If I were to choose between mRNA vaccines and adeno-vaccines based on these data alone, I would choose adeno-vaccine," University of Southern Denmark global health professor Christine Stabell Benn tweeted. She coauthored a paper last year finding that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines didn't reduce all-cause mortality, but it has not been published yet.

 

Pfizer and NIAID did not respond to Just the News queries on when they knew mRNA vaccines might induce a less effective antibody response, given their employees' involvement in editing and reviewing the Frontiers paper. Fauci stepped down as NIAID director at year's end, after his scientist completed peer review.

 

"The long-term impact of the switch to IgG4 antibodies is unclear," former New York Times drug industry reporter Alex Berenson wrote in his newsletter, which analyzed both IgG4 studies. "But nearly all the wealthy countries that heavily used the mRNA jabs continue to endure waves of Covid and significant numbers of deaths," particularly those with little prior infection such as Japan.

 

Without a stark change in across-the-board COVID vaccination policy, the U.S. stands to become even more heavily reliant on mRNA vaccines amid uncertainty over Johnson & Johnson's place in the market.

 

U.S. regulators crippled the reputation of J&J's traditional vaccine by recommending a "pause" to investigate a handful of blood clots in spring 2021. They did not repeat the pause when acknowledging heart inflammation reports in mRNA recipients that summer.

 

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that "slumping demand" led J&J to end manufacturing agreements for its traditional vaccine. It's also in arbitration with Merck, whose vaccine partnership was created under pressure from the Biden administration.

 

J&J said it has hundreds of millions of doses it will continue to make available "where needed," but didn't tell the Journal whether it will keep making its vaccine, which does not purport to target newer variants. The only other traditional COVID vaccine maker, Novavax, received authorization just six months ago.
