Vint Cerf didn’t say anything at the time about the lack of encryption, he was moonlighting for NSA and was not permitted by NDA to mention the encryption he used on the government network being developed at the same time as the anonymous public network, the internet.

 

We will talk to the scientists who built the internet about what they hoped the network could be and what the monster it has become.

We will see how key technical decisions were influenced by intelligence agencies. We will learn how we might have had a secure safe internet for all users had not the intelligence agencies wanted otherwise.

 

The internet is not an insecure network by accident, it is an irremediably insecure network by design.

 

Why do intelligence agencies want insecure networks for us, and secure ones for themselves? What do intelligence agencies do over networks?

 

We will learn about the entire spectrum of criminal activities facilitated by insecure networking and understand how the nonlinear properties of the internet supercharge criminal activity.

282 reported sexual assaults closed without disciplinary action at public university

 

From October 2021 through September 2022, Louisiana State University closed 282 reported cases of sexual assault without imposing any disciplinary action, according to reports obtained by Fox News Digital.

 

In 2020, USA Today released a report accusing LSU of mishandling sexual assault cases. The news outlet reported instances where university officials failed to believe victims' stories, chose not to investigate, or did not report the incidents to authorities.

 

Following the recent death of 19-year-old LSU sophomore Madison Brooks, the university's handling of sexual assault cases is once again under scrutiny.

 

On January 15, an intoxicated Brooks was allegedly raped by two males she met at a bar. Brooks was dropped off late at night on the side of a dimly lit road, where she was fatally struck by a car.

 

University officials were criticized for their response to the young woman's death. LSU President William F. Tate IV called the incident "evil" and stated he wanted to ensure local bars no longer serve alcohol to underage students.

 

Two student groups, College Democrats of LSU and Feminists in Action, accused Tate of "victim blaming" and ignoring the "overwhelming violence, particularly sexual violence, we face as students."

 

LSU's most recent "power-based violence" report revealed that the university failed to seek disciplinary action in an overwhelming number of reported sexual assault cases.

 

According to the reports, between October 1, 2021, and March 3, 2022, 182 sexual assaults were reported. Another 126 were reported between April 1, 2022, and September 30, 2022. Of the over 300 cases, 282 did not result in disciplinary action.

 

More than 80% of those cases were closed due to one of three reasons, including "complainant not responsive to outreach," "complainant requested supportive measures only," or "complainant requested no further action."

 

The reports argued that an "overwhelming majority of survivors choose a path that does not include a formal investigation" because it would be an "arduous task." A formal investigation includes interviews with all involved parties and witnesses, along with a hearing and cross-examination.

 

LSU spokesperson Abbi Rocha Laymoun told Fox News Digital, "Many survivors do not wish to share their experience in those ways."

 

"A formal resolution is not the only pathway for survivors," Laymoun continued. "That is why resources and supportive measures are available to all survivors, regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed."

 

"Our philosophy is to listen to survivors and empower them to decide which resources they want and when. Our focus is on the survivor. … The office continues to review processes and monitor any potential barriers to reporting while empowering survivors to make the choice that is right for them," Laymoun explained.

Pedophile pop star Gary Glitter released from jail after serving half his sentence

 

Disgraced British pop star and convicted pedophile Gary Glitter was released from prison Friday after serving just half of his 16-year sentence.

 

Glitter, born Paul Francis Gadd, was set free from Dorset’s HMP The Verne prison in England, PA News reports.

 

The “Do You Wanna Touch Me” singer was caged in 2015 after he sexually abused three young girls, all under the age of 13, at the height of his fame in the 1970s.

 

The 79-year-old’s third victim was under the age of 10. He snuck into her bed and tried to rape her back in 1975.

 

Glitter reached global stardom in the 1970s and 80s — but his success was short-lived after he was caught downloading 4,000 child pornography images in 1999, landing him in jail for just 4 months.

 

His string of pedophilic crimes continued into the early 2000s when he was expelled from Cambodia amid reports of sex crime allegations.

 

He was convicted of having sex with a minor in Vietnam in 2006. He was freed after serving 3 years in jail there and was ordered to register as a sex offender upon return to home soil.

 

In a bid to carry out his heinous crimes, Glitter separated the young girls from their parents by inviting them backstage at his gigs.

 

He then took advantage of them in his dressing room.

 

“It is difficult to overstate the depravity of this dreadful behavior,” Judge Alistair McCreath said at his sentencing, adding that he wished he could put Glitter behind bars for longer, but was constrained by sentencing restrictions for crimes committed in the 1970s.

 

Now out of prison, Glitter will be subject to license conditions which means he will have to follow a strict set of rules to serve in the community.

 

The singer’s 1972 hit “Rock and Roll Part 2” was featured in the 2019 movie “Joker.”

The first candidate of the 2024 GOP pool seconded a suggestion by conservative commentator Jack Posobiec to put ballot drop boxes behind all churches in states where they are legal.

 

"BEST IDEA I'VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME…PUT THEM ALL OVER THE PLACE," Trump wrote Friday on Truth Social. "RNC, EVERY REPUBLICAN, GET TO WORK ON THIS NOW!!!"

 

Not only does that represent a complete shift from over two years ago, but it's antithetical to what Trump said as recently as January as part of his second official campaign event January in New Hampshire.

Report: Biden Pushed Peace Plan that Recognized Russia’s Control Over 20% of Ukraine==

 

The White House offered the proposal within days of rolling out a military aid package for Kiev that included main battle tanks, reflecting a growing rift in the Joe Biden administration.

 

President Joe Biden dispatched his CIA Director to Kiev with a proposal to end the war in Ukraine last month, according to the Swiss outlet Neue Zürcher Zeitung. The peace plan was offered at the same time the White House was preparing significant escalations in military support for Kiev, including announcing that it will send Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

 

The report cites high-level sources in Berlin who claim William Burns, the head of America’s spy agency, traveled to Kiev in mid-January to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. On January 19, the Washington Post reported that Burns recently traveled to Ukraine to meet with Zelensky. During that trip, Burns is said to have offered a deal to Zelensky wherein Ukraine would cede about 20% of its territory to Russia in exchange for Moscow ending its war in Ukraine.

 

NZZ’s sources claim that both Kiev and Moscow rejected the proposal. In a statement to Newsweek, the CIA denied Burns delivered the proposal. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov also dismissed the NZZ report labeling it a "canard."

 

According to the German sources, the peace proposal reflects a growing rift within the White House on how to handle the war in Ukraine. "Security adviser Jake Sullivan and Burns [wanted] to end the war quickly so they could focus on China." The report continued, "on the other side would be Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. They did not want to let Russia get away with destroying the rules-based peace order and called for massive military support for Ukraine."

 

After Burns failed to sway Kiev and Moscow to agree with Washington’s plan, Blinken and Austin were able to sway the president to authorize the transfer of Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

 

NZZ reports the decision for the US to send main battle tanks to Ukraine caught German leader Olaf Scholz off guard. The Union in the German Bundestag issued a statement saying, “Scholz did not want to deliver until the very end because he firmly assumed that the Americans would not send battle tanks either.”

 

Negotiations between Kiev and Moscow have stalled for nearly a year. Last March, Turkish diplomats facilitated talks that nearly ended the war with Russian forces withdrawing from Ukrainian territory captured after the start of the invasion. However, then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson traveled to Kiev and told Zelensky that Ukraine’s Western backers were not prepared to allow the war to end.

China confirms balloon over US is Chinese

 

China confirmed that the high-altitude balloon being tracked over the northern U.S. is Chinese, claiming that it is a civilian aircraft that strayed off-course.

 

A Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced the details after the Pentagon on Thursday revealed that it had been tracking a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon over the U.S. for several days.

 

“The airship is from China. It is a civilian airship used for research, mainly meteorological, purposes,” the Chinese spokesperson said in a statement. “Affected by the Westerlies and with limited self-steering capability, the airship deviated far from its planned course. The Chinese side regrets the unintended entry of the airship into US airspace due to force majeure.”

 

“The Chinese side will continue communicating with the US side and properly handle this unexpected situation caused by force majeure” the spokesperson added.

 

A senior defense official told reporters Thursday that the U.S. has “very high confidence” that the suspected Chinese balloon was flying over sensitive sites, collecting information, the Associated Press reported.

 

The balloon flew over the Aleutian Islands, through Canada and into Montana, home to one of the U.S.’ three silo fields for launching nuclear missiles, NBC News reported.

 

As it drifted into the area of Billings, Montana on Wednesday, flights stopped for about two hours at the Billings Logan International Airport, local news outlet KULR reported. A senior defense official said F-22 fighter jets were scrambled, but President Joe Biden heeded the “strong recommendation” of senior military leaders that it was too risky to shoot the balloon down, CNN reported.

 

A senior defense official said “our best assessment right now” is that the balloon doesn’t pose a “significantly enhanced” threat of intelligence gathering, nor is there a threat to civilian aviation, CNN reported. But if the level of risk changes, the U.S. “will have options to deal with this balloon.”

 

“We have made clear we will do whatever is necessary to protect our people and our homeland,” the official said.

US Firms Investing Billions In China’s AI Sector: Report

 

U.S. companies were involved in at least 37 percent of the total investment transactions in China’s artificial intelligence (AI) sector between 2015 and 2021, according to a new report.

 

The report (pdf), published by the Georgetown University Center for Security and Emerging Technology, found that $40.2 billion in investment transactions into Chinese AI companies had American backing, though it was unclear what percentage of that amount was made by U.S. investors or their overseas counterparts.

 

The money was given to 251 Chinese AI companies, primarily as venture capital angel, seed, and pre-seed stage investments.

 

There are risks with such investments, the report noted, as they are generally accompanied by other intangible benefits in which U.S. expertise is delivered to China-based companies.

 

“While Crunchbase data suggests that U.S. outbound investment into Chinese AI companies is limited, such financial activity, commercial linkages, and the tacit expertise that transfers from U.S.-based funders to target companies in China’s booming AI ecosystem carry implications that extend beyond the business sector,” the report said.

 

“Earlier stage VC investments in particular can provide intangible benefits beyond capital, including mentorship and coaching, name recognition, and networking opportunities. As such, U.S. outbound investment in Chinese technology, and particularly AI, merits additional attention and tracking.”

US Firms Funding Chinese AI Companies

 

American investments in China-based AI companies have come under fire in recent years due to the amount of control exercised over such companies by China’s communist regime.

 

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which rules China as a single-party state, has implemented several laws that require China-based companies to make all data in their possession available to the regime upon request.

 

This means that any data or technologies developed by China-based companies with U.S. backing could directly be used by the CCP to improve upon its military capabilities, in line with the regime’s “military-civil fusion” strategy.

 

Moreover, such investments directly fuel China’s efforts to overtake the United States as the lead technological power.

 

This is demonstrated by the value of the investments being made by U.S. sources into China’s AI companies. Whereas investment transactions involving U.S. funding sources only made up 17 percent of the total number of transactions made, the report said, those transactions accounted for 37 percent of the total funding value of all such transactions.

 

Notably, the U.S. investments also include major funding for Chinese companies whose research could tangibly benefit the Chinese military’s pursuit of AI and autonomous systems.

 

“Some of the largest investments include Goldman Sachs’ solo investment in 1KMXC, an AI-enabled robotics company, as well as an investment by three U.S.-based VC firms in Geek+, an autonomous mobile robot company,” the report said.

An Iranian government-backed hacking team allegedly stole and leaked private customer data belonging to French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, security researchers at Microsoft said on Friday.

 

The magazine was hacked in early January after it published a series of cartoons that negatively depicted Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. The caricatures were part of a media campaign that Charlie Hebdo said was intended to support anti-government protests in the Islamic nation.

 

Representatives for the Iranian and French governments did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A press officer for Charlie Hebdo said the magazine had no comment on the matter "for the moment."

 

Iran publicly vowed an "effective response" to the "insulting" cartoons, and summoned the French envoy in Tehran, while also ending activities of the French Institute of Research in Iran and saying it was re-evaluating France's cultural activities in the country.

 

The hack-and-leak targeting Charlie Hebdo was part of a wider digital influence operation with techniques matching previously identified activity linked to Iranian state-backed hacking teams, Microsoft researchers said in a report. The group responsible is the same one that US Department of Justice officials earlier identified as having conducted a "multi-faceted campaign" to interfere in the 2020 US presidential election, Microsoft said. Iran denied the claims at the time.

An American Airlines pilot is raising the alarm after suffering a heart attack just six minutes after landing a passenger plane carrying almost 200 passengers.

On Jan. 26, Israeli forces killed 10 Palestinians — including an elderly woman — in Jenin and in al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, and then shot at an ambulance to prevent it from assisting the injured — a clear war crime. The Jenin massacre provoked rocket fire from Palestinian resistance forces in Gaza, to which the Israeli Air Force responded disproportionately, shooting at the densely populated al-Maghazi refugee camp in the centre of Gaza.

 

The cycle of violence continued with a lone Palestinian gunman killing seven Israelis in the illegal settlement of Neve Yaakov in East Jerusalem. In reaction to that, the Israeli government has put in place “collective punishment” systems — a violation of the Geneva Conventions — which allows the state to target the gunman’s family members. The Israeli government will also make it easier for Israelis to carry firearms.

 

The Israeli government launched Operation Break the Wave in response to habbat sha’biyya or “popular uprisings” that have begun again across Palestine and express the frustration generated by Israeli pressure campaigns and the near collapse of economic life.

 

Some of these uprisings took place not only in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza where they are more common, but amongst Palestinians living inside the 1948 Green Line of Israel.

 

In May 2021, these protestors gathered under The Dignity and Hope Manifesto and called for new agitations, a “united Intifada” which unites Palestinians in exile, inside Israel and in the Occupied Territories. These moves and the gains of Palestinians in the United Nations system indicate a new dynamism within Palestinian politics.

 

Most recently, on Dec. 31, 2022, the U.N. General Assembly voted 87 to 26 to ask the International Court of Justice to provide an opinion on Israel’s “prolonged occupation, settlement, and annexation of Palestinian territory.” The new phase of Israeli violence against Palestinians is a reaction to their achievements.

 

In the midst of all this, the Israeli people voted Benjamin Netanyahu into office to form his sixth government since 1996. Already, Netanyahu has been Israel’s prime minister for over 15 of the past 27 years, as he heads into another seven-year term.

 

His government is fiercely far-right, although from the standpoint of the Palestinians there is steady continuity in Zionist state policy, whether the government is led by the far-right or by less right-wing sections. On Dec. 28, 2022, Netanyahu defined his government’s mission with clarity:

 

“The Jewish people have an exclusive and unquestionable right to all areas of the Land of Israel. The government will promote and develop settlement in all parts of the Land of Israel — in the Galilee, the Negev, the Golan, Judea, and Samaria.”

The loan came about a month after the Nov. 2 discovery by Biden's lawyer of documents marked 'classified' at his former Penn Biden think tank office in Washington, DC. That sparked the probe now being overseen by special counsel Robert Hur.

 

The White House has not responded to a question about what the loan was for. Fox News obtained the loan document, which came about two weeks before additional documents marked 'classified' inside Biden's Wilmington garage.

 

Biden presumably is facing mounting legal fees amid a flurry of developments in the case, including FBI searches of at least three locations: the DC office, Wilmington, and Rehoboth.

 

He earns a salary of $400,000 as president, and earned $30,000 book income during his first year in office. The couple had assets worth between $1 million and $2.6 million, while owing up to $500,000 on their Wilmington residence, according to his 2022 financial disclosure.

 

That form listed between $700,000 and $1.5 million in cash in various accounts (amounts must be disclosed only in broad ranges). Still, if Biden is taking out an equity loan, it is a likely indication that he has burned through considerable savings, unless they were reinvested. Other loans he listed totaled between $30,000 and $100,000.

 

Hunter Biden, meanwhile, is facing his own legal woes, with his own legal debts reportedly reaching into the millions. SAN FRANCISCO — Matt Halprin, the global head of trust and safety for YouTube, has a tough job: He oversees the teams that decide what is allowed and what should be prohibited on YouTube.

 

The Google-owned site has come under fire recently for allowing videos that feature what many find offensive or violent, and for not doing enough to protect kids online. Halprin has to make difficult decisions to craft policies that keep the site as safe as YouTube wants it to be, while balancing what the company considers one of its core tenets: people’s free speech.

 

The Associated Press spoke recently with Halprin about how his team works. Questions and answers have been edited for length and clarity.

 

Q: How does your team operate?

 

A: They’re separated into policy development and policy incubation. Policy development starts with the highest level of principles: We are an open platform. We do have a bias to allow freedom of expression on our platform and only remove content that we think is egregious and could cause real harm. We want to be a place where a variety of perspectives can be heard, and sometimes that even means things that people disagree with or are even offended by.

 

We kicked off a process a couple of years ago to essentially re-review all of our policies. We look at which policies seem to be most out of kilter with what our enforcement teams are telling us, the gray area cases or which policies are regulators talking about or the press asking about. As an example, in Q2 (June) we relaunched our hate speech policy.

 

Q: What does the process look like to make or change a policy?

 

A: The team first does the research and puts together the framework and essentially a proposal. Once it gets through me, then we bring in our cross-functional partners and people on public policy and public relations, in product, in legal. We often get sent back to the drawing board on a few issues. Then we go to an executive steering review, which is chaired by our chief product officer. Finally, the fourth and final step is the top executives. We have these meetings every single week.

 

As we go through this process, these guys are watching a ton of video examples.

 

Q: How do you think about balancing free expression with safety?

 

A: That is probably the toughest thing that we do. There is not a right answer. Not all of us agree. One person will think that, “Hey, we should have more civility. We shouldn’t let something like this come up.” And another person will say, “Yeah, but if you get rid of that uncivil comment, you lose some really valuable, you know, free expression or political discourse.”

 

And so we have seriously huge debates about this. Sometimes we think that if we are not criticized by all sides for the policy, we’ve probably done something wrong. If you’re only upsetting one side, then you probably haven’t gotten it right.

 

Q: How do you ensure that things aren’t slipping through the cracks when it comes to enforcement?

 

A: We’ve always had community guidelines and that’s what defines our rules. We measure how much exposure occurs on content that we think goes against the line. And that’s going down. For every workflow, for every policy, I get a measure of how accurate our reviewers have been regularly.

Who Is Lee Halprin?

 

Lee Halprin began his career as a writer, but over time he has become a prominent benefactor of mainstream Democratic politicians. From 1992 to the present day, Halprin has contributed over $840,000 to left-wing candidates and campaigns.

 

Funding Socialists

 

He is also a major funder of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the largest socialist political organization in the United States. In a 2016 magazine piece, the DSA recognized Halprin’s role in supporting their “Anti-capitalist Capital Campaign.”

 

The DSA has endorsed more than 60 elected officials at the local through federal levels. Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) are members of the group. Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) were each endorsed by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), to which Halprin has given $18,000. Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), the fourth member of the “Squad,” has received money from Halprin since 2009. Halprin has also given to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) over the years.

 

All these politicians and groups support the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and government funding of college tuition—the policy trifecta of the new democratic socialist movement.

Halprin also donates to many Democrats on the more moderate side as well. In the 2018 midterm cycle, he made the maximum campaign contribution of $5,400 toAdam Schiff (D-CA), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND). In 2016, Halprin gave $70,000 to Democratic candidates including Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Catharine Cortez-Masto (D-NV), and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).

 

In this way, Halprin exemplifies how the radical, fringe, socialist circles of the professional Left are merging with mainstream Democratic politics. The same source funds the DSA, the Squad, and Bernie Sanders and gives money to the Democratic Party’s senior members of Congress and its official institutions such as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Where does Halprin get the money to do all this?

 

It would seem thathis wealth comes from his wife, Abby Rockefellerof the Rockefeller dynasty, the daughter of David Rockefeller and Margaret McGrath. Abby occupies a vague category between radical leftist politics and establishment liberal philanthropy, having been a part of the radical feminist group Cell 16, which promoted celibacy and total separation from the male sex. She then went on to a career in nonprofit environmentalism. Their personal sympathies likely lie more on the socialist side of things, as they are both listed as publishers of the socialist magazine In These Times.

 

Halprin and Rockefeller are prime examples of how left-wing philanthropists are able to fund both moderates and radicals—from the DSA to Adam Schiff—to achieve the same ends without any chastisement, while right-of-center philanthropists are under constant scrutiny for the recipients of their donations. If the Democratic Party shifts leftward after the 2020 election, we can imagine many other donors like Halprin having clean consciences with such an outcome, leading one to conclude that the Democratic Party’s supposed moderate-radical division is in reality only a performance.

CIA Chief Warns of China’s ‘Serious’ Intent to Invade Taiwan by 2027

 

The United States is aware “as a matter of intelligence” that Chinese leader Xi Jinping has ordered his military to be prepared to invade Taiwan by 2027, CIA Director William Burns said on Thursday.

 

Burns said that Xi’s order to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) military may not represent his timeline for the CCP’s invasion of Taiwan, but it demonstrates his “seriousness” in pursuing this goal.

 

“Our assessment at CIA is that I wouldn’t underestimate President Xi’s ambitions with regard to Taiwan,” Burns said at an event at Georgetown University in Washington.

 

Burns said he believes that Xi was likely “unsettled” by the Russian military’s performance in the Ukraine war and that he likely tried to evaluate the effectiveness of Russia’s weapons systems in Ukraine for his ambition toward Taiwan.

 

The CIA chief also warned against underestimating the motivation behind the China-Russia “no limits partnership” declared last year.

 

“I think it’s a mistake to underestimate the mutual commitment to that partnership, but it’s not a friendship totally without limits,” Burns noted.

 

China has refrained from condemning Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, citing Russia’s “legitimate concerns on security issues” as justification. In February 2022, the two nations declared a “no limits” partnership.

 

According to their joint statement, Russia said it recognized Taiwan as “an inalienable part of China” and rejected Taiwan’s independence “in any form,” while the CCP backed Russia’s opposition to the enlargement of NATO.

 

Taiwan’s Independence

Taiwan has been a self-governing democracy since the Chinese civil war ended in 1949. Still, the CCP regards Taiwan as a breakaway province that must be united with mainland China by any means necessary.

 

Chinese incursions into Taiwan have occurred almost daily as the CCP has increased military pressure on the self-ruled island. Taiwan’s military detected 23 Chinese aircraft and four vessels on Feb. 2, with 17 of the aircraft crossing the Taiwan Strait’s median line.

 

Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said on Jan. 18 that China is “more likely” to make a move against Taiwan in 2027 as he believed that Xi might see aggression against Taiwan as a way to leave a legacy from his third term in office.

 

“In 2027, Xi Jinping is likely to go into his fourth term. And if in his previous three terms, he cannot claim any achievement during his office, he might need to think about something else for him to claim as his achievement or his legacy,” Wu said in an interview with Sky News.

AMERICAN MAN PURPOSELY GETS ARRESTED IN NORTH KOREA, CLAIMS TO HAVE MILITARY SECRETS

 

Matthew Todd Miller, a 33-year-old man from Bakersfield, California, intentionally sought out arrest in North Korea by tearing up his tourist visa and claiming to be a hacker with military secrets and connections to WikiLeaks.

 

Matthew Todd Miller was detained in North Korea for committing "acts hostile to the DPRK while entering under the guise of a tourist."

 

At the time, Miller was 25. The biggest plot twist no one ever saw coming was that the now 33-year-old wanted to get arrested.

 

THE CURIOUS CASE OF MATTHEW TODD MILLER

 

Mathew, from Bakersfield, California, traveled to North Korea on 10 April 2014. His goal was to stay there, and he was soon arrested for "unruly behavior."

 

Later, he confessed that his main fear was “that they would not arrest me when I arrived."

 

Allegedly, he told the North Korean authorities he was a hacker and had "military secrets." He intended to "remove the American military in South Korea."

 

He allegedly also claimed he was involved with WikiLeaks, but North Korean authorities never took him seriously. That made them desperate to know what made him come to visit in the first place.

 

MILER ONLY SERVED TWO MONTHS

NK News reported that the young man "committed acts hostile to the DPRK while entering the territory of the DPRK under the guise of a tourist."

 

He was sentenced to six years of hard labor. However, he was released on November 8, 2014, less than two months after sentencing.

 

Speaking about the experience, Miller said:

 

"This might sound strange, but I was prepared for the 'torture.' But instead of that, I was killed with kindness, and with that, my mind folded, and the plan fell apart."

 

WHAT WAS MATTHEW TODD MILLER'S MOTIVE?

Upon arriving, Miller tore up his tourist visa, prompting reactions from the authorities.

 

Miller, charged under Article 64 of the North Korean criminal code concerning acts of espionage, said he wanted to experience the real North Korea.

 

Talking o NK News, the 33-year-old said he wanted to "have a face-to-face with North Koreans to answer my personal questions.

 

He claims he achieved the goal and insists it was never about politics. He wanted to "connect with the people, not question the government or politics."

 

Miller never denied espionage charges and instead insisted he "wanted to sit down with them every day and have conversations about everything. I would ask them one question about their country, and they would have a question about mine."

 

TODAY, MILLER REGRETS HIS ACTS

Miller was released after eight months and called his trip "successful." However, he now calls this expedition a "mistake."

 

Despite initially refusing help from the US government, he later turned to them to get out of North Korea. It is hard to understand what drove Miller, who further said:

 

"I was in control of my situation. I knew the risks and consequences. My trip has probably resulted in no change for anyone except for me."

UK military could run out of ammo in single afternoon – ex-commander

British armed forces have been “hollowed out by spending cuts,” General Richard Barrons has said

 

The UK could deplete its ammunition stocks in mere hours should it be drawn into large-scale fighting, a former British commander warned on Thursday. This and other issues make the UK military unfit to be regarded as a “top tier” NATO member, he said.

 

Retired General Richard Barrons, who formerly headed the UK’s Joint Forces Command, sounded the alarm in an op-ed published by The Sun in which he said the fighting force has been “hollowed out by spending cuts.”

Barrons claimed that the British armed forces “are smaller and less ready to fight than at any time in living memory.” He also warned that the UK Army is on course to slip below 76,000 troops. However, even these service members often do not receive adequate training, Barrons noted.

 

British tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces mostly date to the previous century, while “years of cuts to ammunition production mean that, for some types of key weapons, the army would run out in a busy afternoon,” the general said.

 

Barrons added that the Royal Navy and Air Force are “in better shape” and boast some “outstanding modern equipment,” but cautioned that without experienced personnel, ammunition, and spare parts they might turn out to be just a “glittering shop window” without much to show for it on the actual battlefield.

 

The former commander said the UK should focus on Europe, arguing that the “tilt to Asia can wait.” He urged London to invest in modern capabilities, including drones, missiles, and cyber and electronic warfare capabilities. Britain should also double its reserves to 60,000 troops, he said.

 

Regarding Russia, Barrons estimated that to be able to handle a “surprise attack,” the British Army will need to spend “£3 billion ($3.67 billion) this year, and every year for the next ten years.”

 

British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace admitted in the House of Commons on Monday that the military has been “hollowed out and underfunded.” His comments followed a Sky News report alleging that a top US general had told Wallace that British forces are “barely tier two” in terms of fighting capabilities.

This explains how it got so far into US airspace without being noticed - it was glowies who sent it up. It didn't get blown halfway across the planet, that's bullshit. Weather balloons can only remain airborne for so long before they ascend too-high and pop, and rigid airships need to actively maintain the correct amount of lift so that they don't ascend or descend too much.

If the payload was smaller and lighter it would make some kind of sense. Maybe they realeased a whole bunch of them, and one slipped through because it was so too small and slow to show up on the early-warning radar.

But that thing is f'ing huge, and it would glow on the screen to any operator.

EU nation slams US ambassador over ‘interference’

Nobody can tell Hungary’s citizens how they should live, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto asserts

 

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto issued a scathing rebuke of the US ambassador to Budapest on Thursday, asserting that he has no business meddling in the nation’s internal affairs.

 

The minister’s comments came after Ambassador David Pressman, who has represented Washington in Budapest since September 2022, told Politico earlier this week that Hungarian policymakers “continue to push policies endorsed by [Russian President Vladimir] Putin.” He was referring to Budapest's opposition to anti-Russia sanctions and support of Moscow’s proposals for a ceasefire.

 

When asked to respond to the statement at a press conference, Szijjarto said, “Nobody can tell us from the outside how to live, so it is of no interest what a citizen of another country – be it an ambassador – thinks about the domestic political processes in Hungary.

 

“We ask for more respect for the Hungarians, even from the ambassador,” he added.

 

It is not Pressman’s “job to interfere in the internal affairs of Hungary,” the minister declared.

 

“If he wants to use his stay in Hungary to qualify the activities of the government elected by the Hungarian people with a fairly clear majority… then he will have a very difficult time,” he added.

 

Szijjarto noted that when Hungary receives foreign ambassadors, it expects them to behave appropriately and work to improve bilateral relations. “We welcome non-governors and non-regents,” he stated, emphasizing that the era of foreign envoys telling Hungarians how to live in their own country “is over.”

 

Hungary, which is heavily dependent on Russian energy, has repeatedly voiced opposition to sanctions imposed on Moscow by the West in response to the ongoing Ukraine conflict. It has argued that the restrictions have wreaked havoc on the EU economy, but failed to meaningfully weaken Russia.

 

Last month, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also slammed Germany’s decision to support Ukraine by supplying 14 Leopard 2 tanks, noting that such steps make Western countries active participants in the conflict. According to Orban, instead of arming Kiev, the West should pursue “a ceasefire and peace talks” in Ukraine.

Russia wants ‘revenge’ – Zelensky

Kiev will go on the offensive if the West delivers more weapons soon, the president said

 

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has claimed that Russia wants “revenge” and is preparing for a major offensive in late February or early spring. Speaking after a meeting with visiting EU officials on Friday, Zelensky said Kiev was already preparing for the blow.

 

“We think there will be increased pressure in the east,” said the Ukrainian leader. “Russia wants revenge in the exact place where it previously failed. It wants to take the east,” he added, referring to areas east of Kharkov where Ukrainian troops advanced in the fall.

 

“Our mission is to prevent that and hold them off until our army is equipped with adequate weapons. I think we have every chance of that,” Zelensky asserted. The US and its allies have promised main battle tanks to Kiev, such as the American M1 Abrams, the British Challenger, and the German Leopard 2, but said that delivering them would take weeks or months.

 

Ukrainians need to remember the “motivation and spirit” from the start of the conflict, Zelensky added, noting that some parts of the country feel like they’re “on vacation” instead of at war.

 

Asked about the embattled city of Artyomovsk (called Bakhmut by Ukraine), Zelensky insisted that the Ukrainian military does not intend to withdraw.

“Nobody will surrender Bakhmut,” he said, adding that if Ukraine’s Western partners speed up deliveries of long-range weapons, Kiev will instead launch an operation to “liberate the territories occupied since 2014.”

 

A key Donbass crossroads, Artyomovsk has seen heavy fighting for months and is close to being in operational encirclement due to the advance of Russian troops north and south of the city. The Wagner Group private military company has been at the forefront of Russian efforts there.

Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin sent a message to Zelensky on Friday, urging him to keep fighting in Bakhmut to the last.

 

“Dear Vladimir Alexandrovich, many people are asking you to withdraw troops from Bakhmut. Do not do that,” Prigozhin wrote. “Artyomovsk is the main event of this war. We must keep fighting. You will show cowardice. You will no longer be respected. The Ukrainian people will not forgive you for surrendering Artyomovsk to a private military structure. Resist. Fight to the end.”

Ukraine announces new ‘Attack Guard’

The Interior Ministry has urged “patriots” to enroll in volunteer brigades and “dispose of enemies”

 

Kiev has called on citizens to enroll in newly-created ‘storm brigades’, with acting Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenko saying that the government expects serving police officers, border guards, and members of the National Guard to form the core of the units.

 

The force, dubbed ‘Attack Guard’, is intended forUkrainians “who have enough rage to beat the enemy,” (I guess the Nazi’s are not angry enough), the minister said on national television on Thursday.

“First of all, they are the people who went through the furnace of 2014-2015,” Klimenko explained as he described the intended recruits. “Some of them went to war in 2022, too. Some of them were injured.”

 

After the 2014 armed coup in Kiev, the new authorities relied on so-called ‘volunteer battalions’ – militia units formed predominantly from far-right Ukrainian nationalists – to fight rebel forces in the east of the county who rejected the new Ukrainian government.

 

Those units were given access to heavy weapons and later partially incorporated into the newly-formed National Guard. The notorious Azov

Regiment is arguably the best-known entity to have followed that path.

 

Moscow stated the need to remove extremist forces and protect people in Donbass from a new onslaught by Kiev among the reasons why it sent troops into Ukraine last February.

 

The ‘Attack Guard’ website lists eight brigades that recruits can choose from, including one named ‘Azov’. Klimenko said six of the units are meant for national guardsmen, while the other two are for police officers and border guards respectively.

 

Applicants can expect financial compensation, social benefits, and other perks, as well as “an opportunity to dispose of enemies,” Klimenko promised. The forces’ “immediate goal” is to fully secure Ukraine’s “internationally recognized borders.”

 

When asked about the new force on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that Donbass has yet to be fully secured by Russian troops, “which is why the special military operation continues.” However, Peskov added that the security of Crimea, another former part of Ukraine, “is well provided for.”

 

Ukraine has reportedly ramped up military mobilization due to heavy frontline losses, although Kiev denies this. Aleksey Danilov, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, claimed in an interview this week that Ukrainians are lining up at conscription centers every day to submit information for possible mobilization.

 

He dismissed videos circulating online which purportedly show a heavy-handed approach by mobilization officials, claiming they showed the detentions of dangerous criminals.

Normally people are playing by the rules, and they use radio transponders that actively transmit the aircraft's location data. But this thing doesn't seem to have that, and I'm not sure anons understand the implications.

Only active radar is going to pick the thing up. I'm not enough of a planefag to know if active radar systems can be accessed by the public, but I'm pretty sure that the ADS-B Exchange is not going to have a callsign for the spy balloon.

The lack of a transponder should actually send up alarm bells inside the early warning system. If it really did blow all the way from China, without a radio transponder or callsign or anything, then it speaks volumes about how well our airspace defenses really work.

I think the attempt is being made by those who sold us out to "WHO" and other globalist entities to make it so medical services under insurance will not get reimbursed without keeping track of your vaccination status.

 

Under the CDC childhood schedule insurers would compensate doctors who got high percentages of their pediatric patients vaccinated. The use of the injections was not based on medical judgment or discernment of need but on the insistence of the third parties paying the bills.

Trump calls for restraint in arming Ukraine

The US should send less military aid to Kiev and instead focus on a diplomatic solution to the conflict, the former president said

 

The US should do its best to pave the way for a peace settlement in Ukraine while scaling back the military assistance Washington is sending to Kiev, former President Donald Trump suggested on Thursday.

 

During an interview with American radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, Trump was asked whether he believed the US should send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine to help in its fight with Russia. “I think the United States shouldnegotiate peacebetween these two countries, and I don’t think they should be sending very much,” the former president stated.

 

However, he also complained that the US had committed much more resources to prop up Kiev than the EU has. “The other thing is Europe has to do much more, because Europe is doing probably just a small fraction of what we’re doing,” he said, explaining that the Ukraine crisis “affects Europe more than it affects our country.”

 

Trump dodged the question when asked whether he wanted to completely cut off aid for Ukraine, stating instead that he wanted “to make it so that Ukraine and Russia have to… fight for the last day.”

 

“This thing has to stop, and it’s got to stop now. And it’s not going to stop if we continue to just load something up,” he cautioned.

 

The former US leader has on numerous occasions criticized the way the administration of President Joe Biden is handling the Ukraine conflict. Last week, Trump said his successor “has brought us to the brink of World War III” through “weakness and incompetence.” He doubled down on his claim that, if he were president, the conflict between Moscow and Kiev would have never started.

 

On Monday, Biden stated that the US had no plans to send F-16s to Ukraine. The delivery of modern fighter jets is also said to be off the table for the EU, with the bloc’s top diplomat Josep Borrell pointing out that this idea had caused a lot of division among member states.

 

As of January 25, the US has committed more than $27 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, including heavy artillery and tanks, air defense systems and infantry fighting vehicles. Moscow has repeatedly warned the West against arms shipments to Ukraine, arguing that they will only prolong the conflict while making NATO a direct participant to the hostilities.

That may be an easy thing to do with a full 40,000 ft view of everything, knowing what info is true compared to what is false. Out on the battlefield that is the internet, it is not exactly simple for many to discern fact from fiction, psyop from real event. Then add in the bombardment of lies. The disinformation. I appreciate your post. This event more than any other in this "long chain of abuses" has convinced me that it is necessary to right this situation immediately. Stolen elections, bioweapon 'vaccines', massive censorship, agency persecution of the citizenry and many other obscene and unconstitutional travesties have unfolded, but when the entire apparent leadership of this country is flummoxed by a balloon something has just gone beyond the beyond. Kremlin and White House deny Biden offered Putin ‘20% of Ukraine’

President Joe Biden allegedly sent CIA chief William Burns on a secret mission to Moscow and then Kiev in mid-January, according to a report in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NNZ) on Wednesday. The White House, the CIA, and the Kremlin all denied that the US had offered Russia 20% of Ukrainian territory as part of a peace proposal.

 

According to confidential conversations with two German lawmakers dealing with foreign policy – one from the ruling coalition, the other from the opposition – Burns reportedly offered a “land for peace” deal in which Russia would keep some “20% of Ukraine’s territory” – about the size of Donbass.

 

The Swiss-German newspaper mentioned the supposed proposal in passing, focusing on the chain of events that led to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President Joe Biden announcing they would send Leopard 2 and Abrams heavy tanks to the government in Kiev.

 

The NZZ report is “not accurate” and the CIA will say the same, deputy spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, Sean Davett, told Newsweek. A CIA official later told the US outlet that reports of a secret Moscow trip by Burns, or a peace proposal on behalf of the White House were “completely false.”

 

On Friday, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov also dismissed the report, describing it as a “hoax.”

 

The Washington Post reported earlier that Burns had taken a secret trip to Kiev ahead of the tank announcement, in order to meet and brief Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

 

From what the two German politicians told NZZ, the peace offer hinted at a split in Washington regarding the conflict. While Burns and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan want to wrap up the fighting in Ukraine quickly to focus on China, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin are committed to backing Kiev.

 

The Swiss outlet further pointed to a recent report by the Rand Corporation, urging Washington to avoid a “long war” in Ukraine – among other reasons, so the US can focus on China.

 

Both Ukraine and Russia refused the US proposal, NZZ claimed. Kiev said it was unwilling to give up any territory, while Moscow was confident of victory. Asked about the NZZ report, Russia’s first deputy permanent representative to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy told Newsweek he found it “interesting” but declined to comment on “speculation.”
