Did American colleges and Universities shoot themselves in the foot with "woke" agendas and "COVID" mandates?

 

In my liberal city I can add up the families ruined by "woke" ideologies. Typical story: Young person is basically "normal" or apparently so until college (though some families have this crap happen in high school) and then after 4 years they come out hating their parents. As in so angry they don't even talk to them. Worse, anon is aware of 3 that declared some form of "alternate" gender or else homosexual.

 

Anon would not support college again unless: 1. "Woke" is no more. 2. Costs are reasonable and if parental support is given parents know grades, progress and mental health issues. 3. The "investment" of 4 years is justified by a lucrative career at the end provided the student applies themselves to learn.

 

Was wondering if anon's city is typical. Today saw a show with a person who has an academy (through 8th grade). When the discussion turned to college plans it was very clear that more parents and students are thinking of other options and the person being interviewed said something about students "hating their parents", at the end of their college education.

 

Anon "alma mater" wants money. School supports "trans" and CDC crap. NO. Even asked this after one of anon offspring went to same school and ended up one of the "parent haters".

Grand jury votes to indict Donald Trump over alleged hush money payments to adult film actress - US media

 

A grand jury has voted to indict Donald Trump over alleged hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, US media reports.

 

Amid speculation in recent weeks that he was due to be indicted, Mr Trump urged his supporters to protest against the authorities if he is detained.

 

He published a long statement describing the investigation as a "political witch-hunt trying to take down the leading candidate, by far, in the Republican Party".

 

"I did absolutely nothing wrong," he said, before criticising a "corrupt, depraved and weaponised justice system".

 

The case - in which he is accused of making a payment to Ms Daniels towards the end of the 2016 presidential campaign in exchange for her silence over an alleged affair - is one of several related to Mr Trump.

 

Other ongoing cases include a Georgia election interference probe and two federal investigations into his role in the 6 January 2001 insurrection at the US Capitol.

 

The Manhattan District Attorney's office has spent nearly five years investigating Mr Trump.

 

It has presented evidence to a New York grand jury that relates to a £114,000 ($130,000) payment to Ms Daniels.

 

Mr Trump has denied the alleged affair with Ms Daniels and accused her of extortion.

The statute of limitations for felony is 5 years. My understanding is Bragg is relying on a payment in 2018 to Cohen in March of 2018 as reimbursement. I don't know the date that payment was but Bragg was out of time for even that extension of his theory.

A grand jury in New York voted to indict former President Donald Trump, three officials familiar with the matter said Thursday.

 

The case centers on a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the closing days of the 2016 presidential campaign. Grand jury votes to indict Trump in Stormy Daniels hush money case

A Manhattan grand jury has reportedly voted to indict former President Donald Trump over his alleged role in a payment to Stormy Daniels in 2016, making him the first former president to face criminal charges.

 

The felony indictment is under seal but the exact charges are likely to be announced soon. A source with direct knowledge of the matter confirmed the indictment to Just the News.

 

Trump has not yet been arrested but he will face arraignment on the charges, be fingerprinted, and may be handcuffed. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has pursued the case, drawing scrutiny from legal experts and political pundits for pushing an alleged political prosecution.

 

Federal prosecutors previously declined to pursue charges related to the Daniels payment.

 

The indictment drew scrutiny from George Washington University Professor Jonathan Turley, who called it an "inglorious moment where even some of the left have criticized the effort."

 

"Bragg and NY AG James ran on bagging Trump," he continued. "This has fulfilled that pledge but, if the indictment follows the course described in coverage, it is deeply flawed theory."

 

The case involves a payment of $130,000 that Trump's then-personal attorney Michael Cohen made to Daniels. Trump later paid the same amount to Cohen and listed that payment as a legal fee.

 

Bragg's case may hinge upon the categorization of that listing as a falsified business record. He would further need to convince a jury that the payment constituted a campaign finance violation.

 

Bragg needs to prove both points in order to show that the allegedly falsified business record was altered to conceal a separate, underlying crime. Merely asserting the first point would constitute a lesser charge that carries a two-year statute of limitation, which has already passed.

 

Legal experts have derided the case as baseless and Trump's new personal attorney, Joe Tacopina, has asserted that such a payment to Cohen was in fact a legitimate legal fee.

 

Moreover, he has insisted that the transaction would "exist irrespective of the campaign," a key point in arguing against its status as a campaign payment.

 

Tacopina characterized the matter as a "nuisance" payment, noting that Trump denies ever having an affair.

The specific charges are not yet known and the indictment will likely be announced in the coming days, the New York Times reported. Trump will have to travel to Manhattan for fingerprinting and other processing at that point.

The New York Young Republican Club has issued a statement responding to the indictment of President Donald Trump, saying, “This is Total War.”

 

The club warned that the indictment has sent our nation “careening toward tyranny at an unprecedented pace.”

 

“Today, our nation careens toward tyranny at an unprecedented pace,” the statement began. “An impudent cabal of radical figures abandons all propriety in their dogged attacks on President Donald J. Trump. We have taken a decisive step away from the values that define our national character.”

 

“Every utterance that has escaped these monsters’ lips since President Trump first came down the escalator has built toward this moment; each falsehood, each misdirection, each deliberate misportrayal found its culmination in Alvin Bragg’s desperate action today,” the club’s statement said. “Radical leftist interests, beholden to an elite, internationalist cabal have taken the unprecedented step of indicting President Donald J. Trump, the leading candidate for the 2024 presidential election.”

The club also said that they will not be holding a protest today, despite Trump’s previous call for protest should he be indicted.

 

“Despite our tremendous success holding marquee protests in Manhattan for critical rightwing causes, today we remain at home. Let our silence be a condemnation of the captivity of our nation; a polemic on the state of our republic. We will not allow another Fedsurrection; we will not be pawns in the Deep State’s perpetual effort to delegitimize Americans’ fundamental right of assembly.”

 

The statement concluded by declaring war.
