“Children Are The Most Valuable Product”: How Human Trafficking Has Become Another Export Item For Ukraine

 

Ukraine has long been a hub for pediatric “black” transplantology and human trafficking, and the military conflict certainly accelerated this distasteful trade. Yet the sale of children for organs in Ukraine did not begin yesterday.

 

The first cases were recorded as long ago as the 1990s. At that time, an organized criminal group (OCG) from Lvov sold children abroad, for their organs. This was organized by the doctor of the emergency hospital, Bogdan Fedak. It is thought that 130 babies were sent abroad, with each child estimated to be worth one million dollars. The typical ploy was to falsely inform women that their child had died at birth, after which the child would be issued with a fake death certificate, and smuggled out of the country. Fedak was sentenced to two years in prison in 1997, but he was released as a result of an amnesty. After his release, he was reemployed in a hospital, and even chaired the health committee in the Verkhovna Rada.

 

18 years later, in 2005, there were reports of missing babies in Kharkov. Prior to that, body parts from two newborn children had been found in the city pediatric morgue. The mothers of the babies filed complaints that the hospital staff had taken their children immediately after birth, and had later told them that the children had been born dead. A Swiss parliamentarian, Ruth-Gabi Vermot-Mangold, was send to Ukraine from the Council of Europe, in order to investigate. She said that she saw evidence that at least four or five newborns were missing. The true number of children missing on the territory of Ukraine will most likely never be known.

Biden Admin Blames New York's Migrant Crisis On Hochul, Adams

 

The Biden administration blamed Democratic leaders in New York for problems associated with its migrant crisis, Politico reported Monday.

 

Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul previously asked the Biden administration for expedited work permits, additional funds to help migrants go to school, help erecting more shelters, reimbursements for deploying the national guard and payment for future costs of the deployments. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas sent letters Monday to Hochul and Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams outlining how they need to fix their migrant crisis, according to Politico, which obtained copies of the letters.

 

“The structural issues include governance and organization of the migrant operations, including issues of authority, structure, personnel, and information flow,” Mayorkas wrote. “The operational issues include the subjects of data collection, planning, case management, communications, and other aspects of day-to-day operations.”

 

The Biden administration wants New York leaders to improve data collection, communication with the migrants and improve information provided about the work authorization process and the need to apply for asylum, according to Politico, which cited an official familiar with the recommendations.

 

“We are hopeful that our recommendations will equip the city to take additional steps to improve the migrant operations and maximize the value of our continued partnership and your support,” Mayorkas added.

 

Mayorkas said the administration already offered several housing options to Hochul that included a hangar in John F. Kennedy airport and the Floyd Bennett Field, according to Politico. The Department of Interior (DOI) sent a lease on Aug. 21 to both New York City and the state to create a temporary shelter at Floyd Bennett Field — a discussion that is taking place in person, he said.

 

“We look forward to hearing from the city and state on the viability of these sites,” Mayorkas wrote.

 

“DOI seeks to finalize that lease as soon as you are ready,” he continued.

 

Many of the sites offered by the federal government are far from New York City, where most of the migrants are residing, Hochul Spokesperson Avi Small told Politico. Meanwhile, the Biden administration cannot fulfill Hochul’s request for expedited work permits with current restrictions.

President Joe Biden has sought to place blame for the shocking dénouement in Afghanistan on the situation he “inherited” from the Trump administration. What a sad-sack attempt at blame-shifting. Team Trump’s withdrawal plan was sound. What proved catastrophic were Biden’s changes to that plan.

I’m intimately familiar with former President Donald Trump’s Afghanistan strategy. In November 2020, I was named chief of staff at the Pentagon, where one of my primary responsibilities was to wind down the forever war in Afghanistan.

.

Trump instructed me to arrange a conditions-based, methodical exit plan that would preserve the national interest. The plan ended up being fairly simple: The Afghan government and the Taliban were both told they would face the full force of the US military if they caused any harm to Americans or American interests in Afghanistan.

.

Next, both parties would negotiate to create an interim-joint government, and both sides had to repudiate al Qaeda. Lastly, a small special-operations force would be stationed in the country to take direct action against any terrorist threats that arose. When all those conditions were met — along with other cascading conditions — then a withdrawal could, and did, begin.

.

We successfully executed this plan until Jan. 20, 2021. During this interval — when there were no US casualties in Afghanistan — President Ashraf Ghani and the Taliban conducted multiple rounds of negotiations, and al Qaeda was sidelined. The result was a successful drawdown of US forces in Afghanistan to 2,500, the lowest count since the dawn of the War on Terror.

We handed our entire plan to the incoming Biden administration during the lengthy transition. The new team simply wasn’t interested.

.

Everything changed when the new commander in chief declared that US forces would leave Afghanistan by Sept. 11, 2021, pushing back the Trump administration’s timetable by four months. Crucially, he didn’t condition the withdrawal on continued adherence to the agreed-upon stipulations. It would be an unconditional pullout with an arbitrary date based on pure symbolism — and set in stone.

.

At that point, the Taliban sat back and waited for the date to draw near, then launched a countrywide offensive, knowing they had no reason to fear any reprisals from this administration. The ongoing chaos — not least the stranding of US personnel and allies — was the natural result of the Biden administration’s decision to eschew a conditions-based plan.

.

With an unmovable withdrawal date in place, Team Biden showed no appreciation for ground-level intelligence reporting, which was largely rendered irrelevant. Just this week, Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, claimed the security situation in Afghanistan “unfolded at unexpected speed.”

.

That is a shocking statement to hear from one of our nation’s most senior national-security officials. No one should have been the slightest bit surprised that when relieved of any conditions or obligations, the Taliban could and would overrun the whole country in the absence of US military power.

.

Tragically, because of the Biden administration’s single-minded focus on the pullout date, hard-nosed intelligence was replaced with wishful thinking and false promises. In April, Secretary of State Antony Blinken vowed, “We will withdraw our troops responsibly, deliberately, safely. . . . We’ll pursue a durable and just political settlement between the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban.”

None of that happened. Last month Blinken assured us that Biden’s withdrawal plan wouldn’t endanger the US embassy in Kabul, which is now evacuated. And Biden himself declared last month that it was “highly unlikely” the Taliban would overrun Afghanistan, which they have now done with blinding speed.

.

Amid this cheap political rhetoric, ignorance of the ground-level security situation and the lack of a conditions-based plan, Afghanistan has fallen. America and the world deserve much better from those privileged to serve in high office. We are witnessing the utter collapse of a government — and not just in Afghanistan.

‘High-definition video shows Biden’s eyes open, blinking during speech”

 

No, that is not a headline from the Babylon Bee, the right-leaning satirical site that once got banned by the pre-Elon Musk Twitter for breaching gender ideology. It is from the pages of USA Today last week.

 

The paper that used to be everybody’s favorite purveyor of pie charts and pop culture ran a fact-checking exercise about President Biden’s visit to Maui in the wake of the wildfires there.

 

Some critics had mischievously accused the president of falling asleep during a gathering with residents because, well, he’s 80 and tires easily, and his eyes were closed.

 

But the paper’s journalists left no stone unturned to find the truth. After rigorous scrutiny of the video, they determined that Mr. Biden had actually been awake.

 

You can picture the scene: a team of expensively educated reporters and editors closeted for hours in a video suite, endlessly replaying the images from Maui on the latest high-tech machines. Suddenly, a triumphant shout goes up: “There! I saw it. He blinked!”

 

A less partial observer might conclude that if we need high-definition video to be certain that the president’s eyes are “open, blinking” while he performs his duties, we have a problem more serious than mean-spirited conservatives making fun of him.

 

To be fair to the USA Today investigators, they were far from the only ones to rush to the president’s defense. At least 10 news outlets ran a similar fact-checking exercise. Many devoted more space to debunking the Sleepy Joe story than they did to recording the numerous verbal gaucheries Mr. Biden visited on the bereaved and homeless people of the island, such as likening the catastrophe to a fire at his house some years back in which he said he “almost lost my wife, my ’67 Corvette, and my cat.”

Thirty years ago, during the early phases of Japan’s financial collapse, the government in Tokyo resorted to extreme measures to uphold the collapsing stock prices. The juxtaposition of the attention given to the Hawaiian fact-check with the effort to look past the many infelicities of the president’s island misadventure is a small example of the Biden-Keeping Operation. Press coverage of the handling of the aftermath of natural disasters can damage presidential reputations, as George W. Bush discovered with Hurricane Katrina in 2005. But this BKO has involved much more substantive, sinister dishonesty.

 

It began with his presidential campaign, in which, under the excuse of Covid, he was left to run for the most important office in the world largely immune to the normal rules of campaign media scrutiny.

 

The omission shifted to outright suppression at the end of the campaign with the determined effort, fully prosecuted by most of the big news organizations to ignore, discredit and suppress the New York Post’s story about Hunter Biden’s laptop. These efforts were abetted by the major technology platforms, which censored not only the story itself but the newspaper that broke it.

 

The campaign of omission continued into the presidency. Only occasionally have we been given glimpses of the president’s frailties, and I suspect this is mainly because other Democrats are voicing concerns about his re-election chances.

 

The most important work news organizations do is investigative—exposing nefarious or incompetent behavior by institutions and individuals.

 

It is almost impossible to envisage things that don’t happen because no one makes them happen. But in this case we have a very clear picture of what the consequences of this sustained journalism of omission would have been. Imagine if the Republicans hadn’t won control of the House last November and conducted their own investigations. It’s highly unlikely that any of the metastasizing story we are learning about Mr. Biden and his son’s business dealings would have come out—no whistleblowers, no questionable prosecutorial leniency, no (grudging) expansion of the probe.

 

The press would have left well alone.

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is working to improve the process of issuing pension benefits payments administered by the VA.

 

Stefanik and Congressman Andy Kim (D-NJ) introduced the Ernest Peltz Accrued Veterans Benefits Act, bipartisan legislation introduced this legislation after working with Charles Peltz, whose father, World War II veteran Mr. Ernest Peltz, passed away after being approved for his accrued pension benefit. However, due to a VA processing error, the VA did not deposit the approved funds in Mr. Peltz’s bank account until after his passing. The VA then removed these funds from Mr. Peltz’s account, even though he was alive when his benefit was approved, leaving his family to deal with all expenses related to his care.

 

This bill improves the process of issuing pension benefits payments administered by the VA that are impacted by the death of the beneficiary. It would ensure that veterans receive their accrued pension benefit in the event of a month of death-claim, or if payment for the month of the death has been issued.

“Our nation should take great pride in awarding our veterans the benefits due to them from their service. Sadly, the Peltz family’s encounter with the VA’s bureaucratic red tape is too often the case for many of our veteran families in Upstate New York, the North Country, and across America. I’m proud to take action on behalf of the Peltz family and all our veteran families to work to cut through the bureaucracy our veterans face,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “I am proud to introduce this legislation to honor the legacy of World War II veteran Mr. Ernest Peltz and take one step forward in improving the effectiveness of an agency infamous for regulatory red tape.”

As some institutions this month called for the return of mask mandates, experts interviewed by The Defender cited studies showing masks are ineffective in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses, and warned of the harms masks pose to children.

At the same time, the Biden administration is pushing for the public to get COVID-19 booster shots for the fall and winter seasons — even though President Joe Biden ended the COVID-19 public health and national emergencies in May, as did the World Health Organization (WHO), citing an overall low level of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.

 

Meanwhile, recently released documents from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) reveal that public health officials privately questioned the effectiveness of masks and the guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) promoting their use.

 

While some experts have openly called for the widespread use of masks to return, experts who spoke with The Defender questioned the need for mandates and the effectiveness of masks in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses.

 

“Masks are not effective against the spread of viruses like COVID-19,” said Brian Hooker, Ph.D., senior director of science and research for Children’s Health Defense (CHD). “The virus is much too small to be blocked by a cloth/paper mask and even N95 masks have very limited effectiveness in reducing transmission.”

 

Dr. Meryl Nass, an internist and member of CHD’s scientific advisory committee, told The Defender that while medical professionals may “benefit from short periods” of mask-wearing before disposing of them, “Regular people who use these masks and are not trained in their use probably get no benefit and may well be at greater risk.”

 

Is threat of new mandates being used to push COVID boosters?

 

CBS News reported that several new COVID-19 variants have surfaced in recent weeks and are spreading across the U.S. These include the EG.5 variant, “estimated to be the ‘dominant’ strain in the U.S.,” FL.1.5.1 and a “highly mutated” strain, BA.2.86.

 

These strains have caught the attention of public health authorities and the WHO, which on Aug. 9 declared EG.5 (“Eris”) a “variant of interest,” even though the WHO acknowledged there’s no evidence the strain leads to more severe disease than its predecessors.

 

According to CNN, the CDC no longer reports aggregate COVID-19 case counts, but still urges people to “wear a mask with the best fit, protection, and comfort for you.”

 

Yet, CNN also reported there were “four new hospital admissions for every 100,000 people” in the U.S. for the week ending Aug. 12, “which is considered low.”

 

The CDC continues to recommend universal masking in areas where 20 or more people per 100,000 are hospitalized with COVID-19, and masking for “high-risk” individuals where between 10-19.9 people per 100,000 are hospitalized with COVID-19.

 

CNN cited a “growing number of hospitalizations” and increased virus levels in wastewater as “an early indication of a COVID spike.”

 

Universities, hospitals push mask mandates citing reports of ‘positive cases’

 

Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, announced Sunday it is reinstating a mask mandate, social distancing and bans on large gatherings as a precaution and for a two-week period, citing “reports of positive cases among students at the Atlanta University Center” — but not the university’s main campus.

 

Rutgers University, which also requires indoor masking, announced it is maintaining its COVID-19 vaccine requirement for the new academic year, and that students granted a medical or religious exemption may still be barred from campus attendance.

 

Rutgers previously announced that, as of Aug. 15, it would begin disenrolling students who had not complied with its vaccine requirement. In June, a federal appeals court heard arguments in an ongoing lawsuit supported by CHD challenging Rutgers’ policy.

I'm delighted to be able to pass along this response by Prof. Michael McConnell (Stanford Law School) to a couple of items that were posted on the blog in the last few days:

 

There is a recent flurry of interest in Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, which bars any person who has "engaged in" an "insurrection or rebellion" (after having previously taken an oath to support the Constitution) from holding state or federal office. This provision has played no significant role in American governance since 1872 and was regarded by many scholars as moribund. The revival of interest in Section 3 is sparked by scholarship by several scholars with impeccable conservative credentials, including my friends Will Baude, Michael Paulsen, and Steve Calabresi. See and Their work advocates a "broad, sweeping" interpretation of the disqualification provision, and claims that under Section 3, Donald Trump is ineligible to run for a second term, without any further process, hearings, or adjudications. Already it has drawn the attention of the New York Times, and presumably will fuel efforts to keep Trump off the ballot.

 

I have no truck with Trump, for whom I have low regard. But in the haste to disqualify Trump, we should be wary of too loose an interpretation of Section 3.

"The right to vote freely for the candidate of one's choice is of the essence of a democratic society, and any restrictions on that right strike at the heart of representative government." Reynolds v. Sims, 377 U.S. 533, 555 (1964). The broader and more nebulous the definition of engaging in insurrection, and the fewer the procedural safeguards, the greater the danger.

 

Section 3 speaks of "insurrection" and "rebellion." These are demanding terms, connoting only the most serious of uprisings against the government, such as the Whisky Rebellion and the Civil War. The terms of Section 3 should not be defined down to include mere riots or civil disturbances, which are common in United States history. Many of these riots impede the lawful operations of government, and exceed the power of normal law enforcement to control. Are they insurrections or rebellions, within the meaning of Section 3?

 

I have not done the historical work to speak with confidence, but I would hazard the suggestion that a riot is the use of violence to express anger or to attempt to coerce the government to take certain actions, while insurrections and rebellions are the use of violence, usually on a larger scale, to overthrow the government or prevent it from being able to govern.

 

Moreover, Section 3 uses the verb "engage in," which connotes active involvement and not mere support or assistance. Significantly, Section 3 also uses the term "give aid and comfort to"—but this is reserved for giving aid and comfort to the "enemies" of the United States, which has historically meant enemies in war. Bas v. Tingy (1800). That Section 3 uses both terms, with different referents, strongly suggests that "engage in" means more than just give "aid and comfort" to an insurrection. Baude and Paulsen maintain that Section 3 "covers a broad range of conduct against the authority of the constitutional order, including many instances of indirect participation or support." They explicitly state that Section 3 trumps the First Amendment. The terms "broad range of conduct" and "indirect support" are ominous, especially since they also say that Section 3 trumps the First Amendment and does not require due process. What could go wrong?

 

Putting together my friends' broad definitions of "insurrection" and "engage," and lack of concern about enforcement procedure, I worry that this approach could empower partisans to seek disqualification every time a politician supports or speaks in support of the objectives of a political riot. Imagine how bad actors will use this theory. If that is what Section 3 necessarily means, we have to live with it. But in my opinion, we should seek the narrowest, most precise, least susceptible to abuse, definition that is consistent with history and precedent. In the absence of actual engagement in actual insurrection, judged as such by competent authorities, we should allow the American people to vote for the candidates of their choice.

 

Congress has enacted a statute, 18 U.S.C § 2383, which covers participation in rebellion or insurrection, and which provides that those found guilty "shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States." This mode of enforcement has been enacted by the entity entrusted with responsibility to enforce the Fourteenth Amendment; it proceeds through the ordinary course of prosecution by the executive, trial by a court, decision by a jury, and appeal to appellate courts, with due process at every step. It is significant that the Department of Justice has prosecuted hundreds of persons for their involvement in the January 6 incursion at the Capitol, but has not charged anyone, including Trump, with insurrection under this or any other statute. It is not obvious that partisan officials in state governments, without specific authorization or checks and balances, should apply broad and uncertain definitions to decide who can run for office in a republic, when responsible officials with clear statutory and constitutional authority have not done so.

 

Note that the "friends" here isn't just the lawyer conceit of referring to opposing counsel as "my friends"; I think McConnell and Calabresi, Baude, and Paulsen are indeed friends, and McConnell, Baude, and Paulsen are actually coauthors (together with our own Sam Bray) of a casebook on the Constitution. Baude also clerked for McConnell when McConnell was a Tenth Circuit judge (as did Bray). As you might gather, I'm always delighted to see—and, when possible, host—such substantive debates among friends and colleagues.

The federal investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election appears to be gaining traction, with the Justice Department having brought in a well-regarded new prosecutor to help run the inquiry

and a high-profile witness seeking a deal to provide information.

 

Alex Jones, the host of the conspiracy-driven media outlet Infowars and a key player in the pro-Trump “Stop the Steal” movement, is in discussions with the Justice Department about an agreement to detail

his role in the rally near the White House last Jan. 6 that preceded the attack on the Capitol.

 

Through his lawyer, Mr. Jones said he has given the government a formal letter conveying “his desire to speak to federal prosecutors about Jan. 6.”

 

The lawyer, Norm Pattis, maintained that Mr. Jones had not engaged in any “criminal wrongdoing” that day when — chanting slogans about 1776 — he helped lead a crowd of Trump supporters in a march to the Capitol

as violence was erupting.

 

As a condition of being interviewed by federal investigators, Mr. Jones, who is known for his rants about the “Deep State” and its supposed control over national affairs, has requested immunity from prosecution.

 

“He distrusts the government,” Mr. Pattis said.

 

While convincing federal prosecutors to grant him immunity could be an uphill climb for Mr. Jones, his discussions with the Justice Department suggest that the investigation into the postelection period could be gathering momentum.

 

Two weeks ago, another prominent Stop the Steal organizer, Ali Alexander, a close associate of Mr. Jones, revealed that he had received a subpoena from a federal grand jury that is

seeking information on a broad swath of people — rally planners, members of Congress and others close to former President Donald J. Trump — connected to political events that took place in the run-up to Jan. 6.

Mr. Alexander, who marched with Mr. Jones to the Capitol that day, has said that he intends to comply with the subpoena.

A wealthy Trump donor who helped finance the rally in Washington on Jan. 6 also gave $150,000 to the nonprofit arm of the Republican Attorneys General Association, records show, funds that a person familiar with the contribution said were intended in part to promote the rally.

The nonprofit organization paid for a robocall touting a march that afternoon to the U.S. Capitol to “call on Congress to stop the steal.”

 

On Dec. 29, Julie Jenkins Fancelli, daughter of the founder of the Publix grocery store chain, gave the previously undisclosed contribution to RAGA’s nonprofit Rule of Law Defense Fund, or RLDF,

records reviewed by The Washington Post show. On the same day, the records show that Fancelli gave $300,000 to Women for America First, the “Stop the Steal” group that obtained a permit for

the rally featuring former president Donald Trump.

 

Funding for the events in Washington that day is a focus of the House select committee investigating the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol that followed the rally.

The panel is also interested in the role state officials, including attorneys general, played in encouraging people to go to Washington on Jan. 6 and in supporting Trump’s efforts to overturn the election,

according to people familiar with the committee’s work.

 

The leaders of Women for America First have been subpoenaed by the committee, as has Caroline Wren, a Republican fundraiser who was listed on that group’s permit as a “VIP ADVISOR.”

Both of Fancelli’s donations were arranged by Wren, according to the records and the person with knowledge of the contributions, who like some others interviewed for this story spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

 

“We have many questions about coordination and funding, and we are actively seeking records and testimony that will answer those questions,” said committee spokesman Tim Mulvey.

“Many witnesses are already engaging with the committee, and we expect cooperation to help us get the answers we’re seeking.”

 

The documents sought by the subpoenas sent to rally organizers were due Wednesday.

 

Fancelli, who is not involved in Publix business operations, did not respond to multiple requests seeking comment, and it is unclear if she knew about the robocall ahead of time.

In a statement to the Wall Street Journal, which reported in January that Fancelli had given approximately $300,000 to support the rally,

she said: “I am a proud conservative and have real concerns associated with election integrity, yet I would never support any violence, particularly the tragic and horrific events that unfolded on January 6th.”

 

Alex Jones, a far-right talk show host and conspiracy theorist who was involved in the Jan. 6 rally, has said that it cost “close to half a million dollars.”

He has also said a donor he did not identify paid for 80 percent of the rally.

 

In a statement to The Post, Wren’s lawyer said: “Ms. Wren, in her role as an event planner, assisted many others in providing and arranging for a professionally produced and

completely peaceful event at the White House Ellipse with hundreds of thousands of Americans who were in D.C. to lawfully exercise their first amendment rights, a primary pillar of American democracy.

Ms. Wren was not present at the United States Capitol or the Capitol Grounds on January 6th.”

But a few questions…

 

Why would child organs be in such demand?

Kids often die in accidents because they do STUPID SHIT because they are kids.

(So they die when they have healthy organs.)

By contrast, kids rarely have organ failure due to chronic diseases.

 

By contrast, adults DO have chronic diseases and need organs.

But it seems the supply of GOOD organs from adults who died in a relatively healthy condition is liable to be much lower.

 

SO…I'd think that if you wanted to be a murderer and sell organs, the ADULT market would be the way to go.

And that seems to be what the CCP does…

 

Here's another point…

Parents with sick children and some money to spend on medical procedures are ON AVERAGE liable to be more moral than adults with chronic medical conditions and considerable money to spend on dubious medical procedures.
