‘Dexit’: Germany’s Soaring AfD Mulls Future Referendum to Exit the European Union

All over Europe, the Globalist-Liberal governments are under relentless pressure, faring very poorly at the polls in the run-up to the European Parliament elections.

 

Plagued by unchecked mass migration, crippling insane environmental policies, economic stagnation and a general decay of the quality of life, voters are flocking to conservative and right wing parties that have been denouncing these issues and rejecting these policies for years.

 

But perhaps nowhere in the old continent does a right-wing party generate so much hope and so much fear as the case of Alternative for Germany (AfD), the official ‘bogeyman’ for the unelected Brussels bureaucrats and the world’s MSM in general.

 

Now Alice Weidel, leader of the poll-topping party, has come out and said that Britain was ‘dead right’ to leave the European Union and that Germany should in fact hold its own ‘Dexit’ vote!

 

Panic in Brussels.

 

Weidel said she would push for a referendum on EU membership if AfD came to power and could not secure reforms to curb overreach by the European Commission.

 

Telegraph reported:

 

“’If a reform isn’t possible, if we fail to rebuild the sovereignty of the EU member states, we should let the people decide, just as Britain did’, she told the Financial Times.

 

‘And we could have a referendum on ‘Dexit’ – a German exit from the EU. It is a model for Germany, that one can make a sovereign decision like that’.”

 

While it is unlikely that AfD will be able to be elected to federal power in the short term, Weidel said a future role in government was ‘inevitable’.

 

“The AfD is leading the polls in all five East German states ahead of regional elections in September. The party’s results in June’s European Parliament elections will also be closely watched amid predictions of success for Eurosceptic parties across the bloc, including in France, Austria and the Netherlands.

 

It is polling nationally at 22 percent, behind the centre-Right opposition Christian Democratic Union but ahead of all three parties in Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s struggling coalition government.”

 

The CDU, the centre-Right party of former chancellor Angela Merkel, would be the first to ally with the AfD.

 

“We can form a clear right-wing majority. And the CDU can’t refuse to accept that in the long term, especially in the eastern states.”

 

Weidel said the priorities of a AfD government would be to reform tax laws, slim down the state and end Germany’s switch to renewable energy.

 

Sounds like a plan!

 

Of course, there’s the inevitable question of mass deportations, and the ‘secret meeting’ about it causing furor in the MSM-controlled part of the population.

 

AfD leader since 2022, Weidel was not at the meeting and fired an aide who was.

 

“’It was just an attempt to criminalize the very idea of repatriating people lawfully who don’t have leave to remain here, or are subject to a deportation order’, she said in an attack on Correctiv, the media organization that revealed the meeting. ‘The AfD is the party that stands for enforcing this country’s laws’, she told the Financial Times.”

H.R. 4432 and S. 3023, the respective House and Senate defense appropriations bills for FY2022, would each provide $500 million in missile defense funding for Israel, including $108 million for the Iron Dome program, $157 million for David’s

Sling, $62 million for Arrow III, and $173 million for Arrow II.

Several bills under consideration by Congress would provide $1 billion in supplemental aid for Iron Dome over three years.

 

For FY2022, the Biden Administration requested $3.3 billion in FMF for Israel and $500 million in missile defense aid on top of OBAMA'S 2016 10yr pledge Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on military aid, covering FY2019 to FY2028. Under the terms of the MOU, the United States pledged to provide—subject to congressional appropriation—$38 billion in military aid ($33 billion in Foreign Military Financing grants plus $5 billion in missile defense appropriations) to Israel. This MOU followed a previous $30 billion 10-year agreement, which ran through FY2018.

 

Biden administration also requested $5 million in Migration and Refugee Assistance

humanitarian funding for migrants to Israel.

 

In 2016, the OBAMA ADM. Under the new MOU with Israel, the Obama Administration has made the largest single pledge of military assistance in U.S. history: OBAMA and Israeli governments signed their third 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) The total value of the new MOU, which covers FY2019- FY2028, is $38 billion ($3.8 billion per year). It will succeed the current $30 billion MOU signed in 2007, which will expire at the end of FY2018.

 

This amount represents a significant increase over the current MOU by every measure, and will enable Israel to acquire additional advanced military capabilities from the United States. It includes $33 billion in Foreign Military Financing (FMF) funds and an unprecedented $5 billion commitment in missile defense assistance. This funding will be disbursed in equal increments of $3.3 billion in FMF and $500 million in missile defense funding each year for the duration of the understanding.

Israel Unveils the New Gold Standard of Border Walls

December 08, 2021--the gold standard of border walls may be one just completed by Israel along its border with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

 

The new border fence spans the 40-mile border between Israel and Gaza. It not only includes a concrete and reinforced steel above-ground component, but also an underground barrier that prevents Hamas from digging tunnels that have been used to infiltrate terrorists and weaponry across the border. As an added layer of precaution, the underground barrier extends out into the Mediterranean to prevent underwater tunneling.

 

The physical barrier is augmented by the latest electronic monitoring and defense technology to maximize its effectiveness. According to news reports, the above and below ground wall is enhanced by “a network of radar arrays and other surveillance sensors, and remote-controlled weaponry.” The security barrier didn’t come cheap. Running a social media campaign in Russia on X (formerly known as Twitter) in an attempt to recruit locals as potential CIA assets is unlikely to be successful, since the platform is blocked in the country,Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has remarked.

 

On Monday, the CIA released a three-minute video in Russian appealing to the country’s citizens to tell the “truth” to American intelligence officials about what is really happening there.Doing so will help their motherland prosper and have a secure future, the video claimed.

 

Commenting on the video on Tuesday, Peskov noted that attempting to reach out to a Russian audience is “common practice” for intelligence agencies.

 

”Numerous secret services across the world quite often resort to mass media, and social networks to recruit new agents,” he said, adding that the CIA is no exception.

 

However, the spokesman added: “someone should have told the CIA that VKontakte [social media network] is much more popular in our country than X,” which has been blocked since March 2022 for discriminating against Russian media and allegedly spreading false information about the Ukraine conflict.

 

According to data provided by VKontakte, as of June 2023, its monthly audience was around 107 million people, of which 84 million are from Russia. Although similar statistics are not available for X, as of 2024, the number of users from Russia on the platform was estimated at about 767,000, according to the World Population Review analytical company.

 

In May 2023, the CIA created a Telegram channel where it shared instructions on how Russians could secretly get in touch with the intelligence agency. In November 2022, David Marlowe, the CIA’s deputy director of operations, said that the US was “open for business” with Russians who disapprove of Moscow’s actions against Ukraine.

 

At the time, Moscow’s embassy in Washington stated that the official’s remarks only confirmed that the US was continuing on a “hostile course” against Russia to “weaken our country from within through sophisticated subversive methods.”

Under President Obama’s leadership, the multifaceted cooperation between the United States and Israel has reached unprecedented levels. The new 10-year security assistance Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Israel is the most recent reflection of President Obama’s unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security.

 

Under the new MOU with Israel, the Obama Administration has made the largest single pledge of military assistance in U.S. history:

 

The total value of the new MOU, which covers FY2019- FY2028, is $38 billion ($3.8 billion per year). It will succeed the current $30 billion MOU signed in 2007, which will expire at the end of FY2018.

This amount represents a significant increase over the current MOU by every measure, and will enable Israel to acquire additional advanced military capabilities from the United States.

It includes $33 billion in Foreign Military Financing (FMF) funds and an unprecedented $5 billion commitment in missile defense assistance. This funding will be disbursed in equal increments of $3.3 billion in FMF and $500 million in missile defense funding each year for the duration of the understanding.

In practical terms, the level of funding specified in the MOU will permit Israel to update the lion’s share of its fighter aircraft fleet - including through the acquisition of additional F-35s - increase its missile defense, and acquire other defense capabilities needed to meet its threat environment.

The multi-year missile defense commitment in the MOU will greatly facilitate long-term planning rather than missile defense assistance levels continuing to be appropriated year-to-year.

The $500 million in annual missile defense funding under the MOU exceeds the average level of non-emergency support the United States has provided to Israel for missile defense over the last five years.

Moreover, our decision with Israel to discontinue two anomalies in the defense relationship that no longer serve our mutual interests - Off Shore Procurement (the arrangement under the current MOU through which Israel has been uniquely permitted to spend 26.3 percent of its annual FMF package within Israel on non-U.S. products) and Israel’s use of FMF funds to purchase fuel – means that Israel will spend more funding, as much as $1.2 billion per year, on the advanced military capabilities that only the United States can provide. The acquisition of additional U.S.-produced capabilities and technology provide the best means to ensure Israel preserves its Qualitative Military Edge (QME).

We have documented how the Soroses are behind the crackdown on free speech in Ireland and other nations. Ireland is on the brink. If hate speech legislation passes, the government will be able to invade people's homes, including those of employees of the many high-tech firms that operate in Dublin, and thus exercise backdoor control over the Internet.

Kiev is still planning to seize the country’s largest mobile service provider, Kyivstar, a senior Ukrainian government official has said. Former CIA director and US secretary of state Mike Pompeo is on the company’s board of directors.

 

The mobile carrier is owned by the Dutch-headquartered telecom giant Veon, in which a majority share is held byLetterOne, a company co-founded by a group of Russian businessmen sanctioned by Kiev. There is an ongoing legal battle in Ukraine for the assets of Mikhail Fridman, Pyotr Aven and Andrey Kosogov, including part of Kyivstar.

 

Rostislav Shurman, the point man for economy in the office of President Vladimir Zelensky, said the probability of Kyivstar being seized by the government was “high” when asked about the firm by the Ekonomicheskaya Pravda business news website.

 

“Relevant services are now studying the present legal situation,” he said, but declined to predict whether the entire company or just the part owned by LetterOne would be affected.

 

Last month, a court in Kiev arrested 99.9% of Kyivstar at the request of the Prosecutor General’s office. A week later, the order was amended to limit the arrest to just 47.85% of the firm, with the court blaming a “typo” in the government’s original request.

 

The part of the interview with Shurman in which Kyivstar was mentioned related to a program that he oversees for the privatization of confiscated property.

 

Veon announced that Mike Pompeo was joining Kyivstar as “an independent non-executive director” last week. He was a member of the US House of Representatives before becoming a prominent member in the administration of President Donald Trump – first as a spy chief and later as the country’s top diplomat.

 

Pompeo has no background in telecommunications, but used to co-own an aerospace firmin the US and later headed an oil equipment manufacturer before pursuing a political career.

 

In May 2022, Kiev created a legal framework for nationalizing the assets of people whom it considers to be enemies of the state. Mikhail Fridman has been on its list of sanctioned individuals since October last year, but the Ukrainian government has reportedly hesitated to seize Kyivstar due to its large market share and the presence of Western investors among Veon’s owners.

 

The Veon announcement also declared its full withdrawal from the Russian market.The company has business interests in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, in addition to Ukraine.

Veon appoints former US diplomat to Kyivstar boardBy Kavit Majithia

 

Veon added former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (pictured) to the board of its Ukrainian subsidiary Kyivstar, a move coming shortly after the company became embroiled in row about corporate rights in the country.

 

Pompeo was appointed as a non-executive director, with Veon CEO Kaan Terzioglu selected as chair of the Kyivstar board. Veon stated the appointments reflects its “commitment to Ukraine and to the recovery and reconstruction of the country”.

 

Pompeo served as the US Secretary of State from 2018 to 2021, during which he played a prominent role in the country’s long-running campaign to push allies to ban the use of Huawei 5G equipment. He is currently a partner atImpact Investments, a newly established US strategic and financial advisory, and investment company.Pompeo said it was through private enterprise and investments that Ukraine will secure its economic future.

 

Veon has pledged to invest $600 million in Ukraine over the next three years and sold its operation in Russia due to the ongoing war between the countries.However, it came under fire from the Security Services of Ukraine (SSU) last month, which froze Kyivstar’s corporate rights as part of measures to crack down on the interests of sanctioned individuals, including Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman. Fridman founded LetterOne Investment Holdings, which holds a 48 per cent stake in Veon. However, he is no longer on the board of either company. Veon subsequently filed legal motions challenging the freeze, emphasising corporate rights in the operator belong exclusively to it and Fridman owns none of its shares in Kyivstar.

Mike Pompeo is taking a seat on the board of the Veon subsidiary Kievstar

 

Telecom giant Veon announced on Wednesday that it has appointed ex-CIA director and former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the board of directors of its Ukrainian subsidiary, Kievstar.

 

Pompeo is joining the Kiev-based operator as “an independent non-executive director,” in his capacity as a partner ofImpact Investments, described by Veon as “a newly established US-based strategic and financial advisory and investment firm.”

 

Kievstar’s new board chairman will be Kaan Terzioglu, the CEO of the Veon Group. The appointments reflect Veon’s “commitment to Ukraine and to the recovery and reconstruction of the country,” the company said.

 

Terzioglu said the company looks forward to the “knowledge and experience” that Pompeo will contribute to the phone company.

 

Pompeo has no telecommunications experience. He was a tank commander during his days in the US Army, ran Thayer Aerospace from 1996 to 2006, and served as a congressman from Kansas from 2011 to 2017, before running the CIA during the early days of Donald Trump’s presidency. He took over the State Department in 2018.

 

After Joe Biden took over the White House, Pompeo became an outspoken advocate of Washington’s military, economic, and political aid to Ukraine.

 

Veon started as a Russian-American joint venture called VimpelCom in the 1990s, before expanding internationally. It was renamed in 2017 and has a headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

 

As part of the Kievstar announcement, Veon also confirmed it had fully exited the Russian market, completing the sale of its Russian subsidiary last month.The transnational company currently operates in Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

 

Veon has pledged to spend $600 million in Ukraine over the next three years and has launched the ‘Invest in Ukraine NOW!’ initiative, to invite other corporations to do the same.

LA Times to lay off one-fourth of newsroom staff starting this week: Union head

The Los Angeles Times said it planned to lay off at least 115 employees — more than 20% of the newsroom — starting Tuesday, one of the largest staff cuts in the newspaper's 143-year history.

 

The announcement came after the LA Times Guild walked off the job last Friday to protest the imminent layoffs, the institution's first ever newsroom union work stoppage.

 

Matt Pearce, president of the Media Guild of the West, which encompasses the Times' union, called Tuesday a “dark day.” He said at least 94 union members would be let go.

 

“Many departments and clusters across the newsroom will be heavily hit,” Pearce said in a statement. “This total, while devastating, is nonetheless far lower than the number of layoffs the Bargaining Committee was expecting last week.”

 

He said some of those selected for layoffs by management may be eligible for buyouts under the union contract.

 

Senior editors, photographers and members of the video unit were also part of the purge, the Times said.

 

The cuts were necessary because the Times could no longer lose up to $40 million a year without boosting advertising and subscription revenue, the paper’s owner, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, said Tuesday.

 

“Today’s decision is painful for all, but it is imperative that we act urgently and take steps to build a sustainable and thriving paper for the next generation. We are committed to doing so,” Soon-Shiong said.

An estimated 2,681 news industry jobs were lost through the end of November, according to the employment firm of Challenger, Gray and Christmas. That was more than the full years of 2022 and 2021.

Mexico Calls For Probe Into Why Mexican Drug Cartels Are In Possession Of U.S. Military Grade Weapons

Mexico has requested a critical investigation into how United States military-grade ammunitions are quickly being discovered in the hands of Mexican drug cartels, according to Mexico’s highest diplomat.

 

On Monday, Mexico’s top ambassador stated that the country is demanding an immediate investigation into the growing number of instances in which Mexican drug cartels are found in possession of weapons from the U.S. military.

 

Rocket launchers, grenades, and belt-fed machine guns that are not sold to civilians in the U.S. have been discovered by the Mexican army.

 

Back in June of 2023, the Mexican army announced that it had confiscated 221 completely automatic machine firearms, 56 grenade launchers, as well as “several rocket launchers” from Mexican drug cartels since 2018.

 

The cartels have openly boasted about their U.S. military-grade weaponry on social media platforms, making them a special threat to Mexico’s army, which has already faced attacks from these groups using bomb-dropping drones and armored cars.

 

Defense Secretary Luis Cresencio Sandoval announced in June that the Jalisco New Generation cartel had been discovered to be in possession of five rocket launchers, four of which had been stolen from the rival Sinaloa cartel, and three more had been taken from other cartels. However, Sandoval made no mention of the weapons originating from the U.S. military.

 

The U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, declared on Monday that the matter had been brought up by Mexican officials during meetings last week. However, Salazar claimed that he was previously unaware of the issue and maintained that the U.S. would investigate further.

 

“We are going to look into it, we are committed to working with Sedena (Mexico’s Defense Department) to see what’s going on,” Salazar stated.

 

Officials say that there are “several reasonable explanations” through which the weapons could have arrived in Mexico. During ongoing cartel conflicts in the 1980s, U.S. military hardware was widely dispersed throughout Central America. Occasionally, military-grade equipment would also “vanish” from U.S. stockpiles, and some suppliers to the U.S. military could have sold their equipment and weaponry overseas or on the black market.

 

Even though the Mexican army and marines continue to possess superior weaponry, other branches of Mexican law enforcement are frequently outclassed by the major drug cartels’ arsenal.

 

The country’s drug cartels’ arsenal of weapons also often outclasses that of other arms of Mexican law enforcement, despite the army and marines possessing superior munitions.

 

Mexico has long struggled with the smuggling of semi-automatic rifles, which are legal for civilian use in the U.S., into a country where only low-caliber weapons are allowed and strictly regulated. Mexico has filed a number of lawsuits against American gun retailers and manufacturers, claiming that their products are being smuggled into the country and inciting violence.

 

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Mexican government believes that 70% of the weapons that are trafficked into Mexico originate in the U.S.

Government will appeal Federal Court’s Emergencies Act decision, Freeland says

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland has announced the government’s intention to appeal Tuesday’s Federal Court ruling that deemed the use of the Emergencies Act, used to disperse Freedom Convoy protestors, unconstitutional.

 

In a landmark ruling, the Federal Court found that the issuance of the Proclamation and associated Regulations and Order under the Emergencies Act was unreasonable and exceeded the act’s intended scope.

 

The court highlighted violations of Charter rights, specifically encroaching upon freedom of thought, opinion, and expression, along with an infringement on the right to security against unreasonable search or seizure.

 

When asked about the ruling on Tuesday, Freeland insisted that her government was correct in its use of emergency powers to quash protesters.

 

“So we are aware of the court decision. We have discussed it with the Prime Minister, with Cabinet colleagues, with senior federal government officials and experts. We respect very much Canada’s independent judiciary. However, we do not agree with this decision. And respectfully, we will be appealing it,” said Freeland.

 

“When we took that decision, the public safety of Canadians was under threat or national security, which includes our national economic security was under threat. It was a hard decision to take. We took it very seriously. After a lot of hard work, after a lot of careful deliberation. We were convinced at the time – I was convinced at the time – it was the right thing to do.”

 

The Canadian Constitution Foundation and other applicants initiated a judicial review application in 2022, expressing concerns about what they perceived as government overreach and civil liberties violations.

 

Canadian Constitution Foundation litigation director Christine Van Geyn has since asserted the organization’s commitment to fighting the federal government’s appeal.

 

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre also addressed the ruling, accusing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of breaking “the highest law in the land” by resorting to emergency powers.

 

“He caused the crisis by dividing people. Then he violated Charter rights to illegally suppress citizens. As PM, I will unite our country for freedom,” posted Poilievre on X.

 

The Federal Court decision also touched upon special economic measures taken by the Trudeau government to freeze the bank accounts of Freedom Convoy organizers and protesters. Justice Richard Mosley rejected the government’s claim that freezing the accounts represented minimum impairment under the Economic Measures.

 

“I was convinced at the time, it was the right thing to do. It was the necessary thing to do. I remain and we remain convinced of that,” Freeland re-iterated when asked about the special economic measures.

Pompeo said in a speech in Tokyo that he had "never seen" Washington "walk away" from its allies and partners during Trump's presidency from 2017 to 2021, despite views that his former boss would cut or stop aid for Kyiv if he returns to power after the presidential election in November.

 

Admitting that members of the Republican Party have "many different political views," he said they have always understood the U.S. role in the world and its responsibilities.

 

Prospects are growing that incumbent Democrat President Joe Biden and Trump will face off at the Nov. 5 election in a rematch of the 2020 race, with the latter dominating the Iowa Republican caucuses last week for the party's presidential nomination.

 

Pompeo served as the U.S. Secretary of State for almost three years from 2018 under the administration of Trump, who had called on security allies to take on more of the financial burden of supporting U.S. forces during his tenure, and recently said he would solve the Russia-Ukraine war quickly.

 

Pompeo also said Trump, who "doesn't like war," would "give the American people and the world the best opportunity"to go back to "a more peaceful place and a more prosperous world" and to good relations with friendly nations if he becomes president again.

 

The "structural ideas" of Trump's first term, such as bringing down the bilateral trade deficit with China by imposing tariffs and demanding NATO members pay a "fair share" of security assistance, would be "unlikely to change," he added.

 

Meanwhile, Pompeo expressed support for some of Biden's policies on Asia, citing the strengthened trilateral partnership with Japan and South Korea, and the emphasis on the Quad four-way security framework with Japan, Australia and India.
