CENTCOM chief urges 'broad expansion' of illegal war against Yemen: Report

Washington and London have launched dozens of airstrikes inside Yemen without congressional or parliamentary approval

The commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), General Michael Erik Kurilla, has urged authorities in Washington to take a more forceful approach against Yemen, saying current efforts to deter the nation’s pro-Palestine operations are “failing.”

In a private letter addressed to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Kurilla calls for a “stepped-up ‘whole of government’ effort against the Houthis, employing economic, diplomatic, and potentially military pressure to discourage attacks on ships in the Red Sea,” according to officials who spoke with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

“Many people found the tone of the memo to be a bit shocking,” a defense official told the US daily, describing Kurilla’s words as implying that “US service members will die if we continue going this way.”

These concerns are also growing in the White House over recent reports that Russia is “considering” providing Yemen with advanced antiship missiles. However, according to Middle East Eye (MEE), the Kremlin was recently dissuaded from making such a move by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS).

News of Kurilla’s letter to Austin coincided with an unprecedented drone strike by the Yemeni Armed Forces that hit the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on 19 July. The advanced Yemeni drone, codenamed “Yafa,” bypassed the combined air defense systems of Israel, the US navy, the UK royal navy, and several EU warships stationed in the Red Sea before hitting a target just meters away from the US consulate building.

“What if the drone had exploded in the heart of the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv?” asked Amir Bou Habout on Friday, a military affairs analyst for the Israeli news website Walla. “The drone incident proves that deterrence has collapsed.”

“I don’t think people really understand just kind of how deadly serious it is what we’re doing and how under threat the ships continue to be,” Commander Eric Blomberg with the USS Laboon told AP last month.

Since January, Washington and London have been leading an illegal war against Yemen in a failed attempt to stop the operations in support of Gaza. Despite heavily bombing the country dozens of times, Sanaa has continued to launch attacks on Israeli-linked ships and ports.

Tesla to produce ‘humanoid’ robots next year – Musk

The electric-vehicle maker will use the robots internally first before producing them for other companies, according to the CEO

Electric-vehicle manufacturer Tesla plans to introduce humanoid robots for internal purposes starting next year, with plans for broader production by 2026, the company’s chief executive Elon Musk has revealed.

Posting to X on Monday, Musk said the robots will be in “low production” at the company’s factories. He said they will “hopefully” be in high production for other companies in 2026.

The announcement comes after the CEO said in April that the Tesla robot Optimus would be able to perform factory tasks by the end of this year and could be ready for sale by the end of 2025.

Tesla first unveiled plans to work on humanoid robots in 2021 at an AI Day event. A year later, the company unveiled Optimus, dubbed Bumblebee, saying that its expected cost will be less than a Tesla car and that it would be manufactured in large numbers.

Musk said at the time that many robots that came before the Tesla bot were “missing a brain” and don’t have the intelligence to navigate the world on their own. He said Optimus will be an “extremely capable robot” and with a reasonable price tag of less than $20,000.

“Optimus is going to be incredible in five or ten years, like mind-blowing,” Musk claimed.

ISRAEL LOBBYIST IN HOUSE OF LORDS CLAIMS THOUSANDS OF POUNDS IN PUBLIC MONEY

Lord Polak has said he was urged to ‘stand up for Israel’ in parliament by David Cameron.

A leading lobbyist who described being made a member of House of Lords as a “once in a lifetime opportunity” to advocate for Israel is claiming thousands of pounds in public funds for his parliamentary work.

Stuart Polak, who led the Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI) for 25 years, has claimed almost a quarter of a million pounds since he was made a peer by then-prime minister David Cameron in 2015, according to analysis of his expenses by Middle East Eye and Declassified UK.

Polak’s expenses as a member of the House of Lords are entirely legitimate. Members do not receive a salary but can claim a non-taxable daily attendance allowance of £361 (£342 prior to April 2024), although they can also choose to claim a reduced allowance or no allowance at all.

But Polak’s place in parliament, and his entitlement to draw on public money while continuing to advocate for Israel, has been called into question at a time when Israeli leaders face accusations of genocide and war crimes over the conduct of the war against Hamas in Gaza, during which more than 38,000 Palestinians have been killed.

Concerns about CFI’s relationship with the Conservative Party were also raised this week by Alan Duncan, a former foreign office minister who on Tuesday said he had been cleared of antisemitism by a party disciplinary panel and suggested there had been a “witch hunt” against him.

The case against Duncan came after an interview he gave to LBC radio in April, when he said that CFI was “doing the bidding” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He also accused Polak of “exercising the interests of another country, not that of the parliament in which he sits,” and called for him to be removed from the House of Lords.

In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, Duncan claimed that an improper relationship existed between the CFI and the top of the Conservative Party, and called on the party to “decouple itself” from the lobby group.

A Conservative Party spokesperson said Duncan’s claims about links between the party and CFI were “false and entirely unfounded”.

MEE and Declassified UK approached Lord Polak and CFI for comment but had not received a response by the time of publication.

Standing up for Israel

Polak stepped down as the head of CFI to take his place in the UK parliament’s unelected upper house as a Conservative peer in 2015.

But he remains the lobby group’s honorary president and a registered director, and is still considered to be one of the most important pro-Israel voices in Westminster.

Of the 40 questions he has asked since he became a Lord, only seven have not related to Palestine, Israel or the Middle East.

Polak has already made three trips to Israel in the first quarter of this year.

The first trip, in January, was described by CFI as a “special solidarity visit” by Conservative parliamentarians which included a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The trip was funded by the European Leadership Network (Elnet), which was created to “counter the widespread criticism of Israel”. Elnet has described South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice as “politically motivated and legally tenuous”.

In February, Polak joined a CFI delegation of Conservative parliamentary candidates visiting the country, and in March he was part of a House of Lords delegation which met “Israeli politicians, religious leaders, Palestinian civil society and the British Ambassador to Israel”, according to the House of Lords register of interests.

Polak has made no secret of his determination to use his place in the Lords to continue speaking up for Israel.

Got a weird lead on a story that people should look into. I got a call from a source close to Las Vegas Metro. The official story was that Joe Biden's trip was cut short last week due to COVID. However, according to this source, US Secret Service informed LV Metro that there was an emergency situation involving Joe Biden and to close necessary streets so that POTUS could be transported immediately to University Medical, which they began to do in earnest. Then, mysteriously, there was a stand down order and the USSS informed local Vegas PD that they were going to "medivac" POTUS to Johns Hopkins, which they presumed meant fly him back east ASAP. Apparently the rumor mill in the police department was that Joe Biden was dying or possibly already dead.

I didn't think too much about this lead, seemed too wild to be true, but given that Joe Biden has been out of public sight for days and dropped out of the race via an 𝕏 post, and his brother James indicated health was a factor, I'm beginning to grow more curious if COVID or something else has been more serious than reported. That June of 1994, Harris took a leave of absence from her job as a deputy prosecutor at the district attorney’s office in Alameda County, where she had worked for four years after graduating from law school.Brown appointed Harris to the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, a position that paid $97,000 annually, which would be $167,000 in 2019. Five months later, Harris resigned from the insurance board, andBrown immediately appointed her to the California Medical Assistance Commission.

Brown, in a letter to Harris, wrote that he was “pleased to appoint” her to the board, which oversaw the payment of insurance providers for state-subsidized MediCal recipients. “I am confident that your knowledge and experience will contribute significantlyto the important work of the Commission,” he wrote.

Harris had no medical background, according to a copy of her resume that she submitted to Brown at the time. Her experience consisted of four years as a deputy prosecutor, a handful of summer jobs and internships, and a volunteer position at a hospital fundraising group.

According to state recordsof the time,membersof the committeehad to be “selected from persons with experience in management of hospital services, risk management insuranceor prepaid health programs, the delivery of health services, the management of county health systems, and a representative of recipients of service.”

Brown’s decision to appoint Harris raised eyebrows in political circles. “Both boards are reserved for political payback or occasionally for personal rewards for personal service,” said Brett Granlund, a former California Republican state assemblyman who worked closely with the commission while Harris was on the board.“The boards are considered plumb appointments as they require no work, no policy credentials, and arepaid the equivalent of a full-time [state] senator for arriving at a one- to two-hour meeting each month.” Granlund said the appointment seemed brazen at the time because of the relationship between Harris and Brown.“Screwing the speaker has its rewards,” he said. “Stevie Wonder could have seen through that play.”

A cautionary warning related to TERM LIMITS (pb)

The people responsible for setting current congressional term limits are the voters. We're supposed to vote them out! That's our job and we've been failing at it (apathy, rigging, lobbying, corruption, deceit). It was our watch and our job and we have failed. And now Congress is full of corruption and decrepit old fogies getting rich on kickbacks.

Thus it seems easy to say 'Term Limits will fix it' and call for a Convention of States and hope to encode congressional term limits so we don't have to focus so hard on our jobs of voting these corrupt deceitful assholes out.

BUT…Constitutional scholars say that opening a Convention of States, just to amend term limits (or any other amendment) COULD open the door to editing the Constitution itself, and lead to a runaway convention where Congress just does whatever the hell they want to it. Because, no matter who starts the Convention or why, it is legally directed by the Constitution itself that the Convention goes back into the hands of Congress for final editing and voting.

And they could scrap the whole foundational thing. That's a very real legal possibility, and the John Birch society (which has been fighting communism since Reagan) has noted that the commies occasionally push themselves for a CoS to test the waters. They don't know for sure if they can cause it to runaway either, but they would try…since its such an old 'outdated' document in their mindset, and a CoS could be the only way they can reach their ultimate goals to get rid of the 1st and 2nd amendments.

Originally I was 100% convinced he was a glownigger shill just spamming the board all day in ranting monologues 20+ hours a day with 30+ posts every bread. I observed that for over a year before saying a single word. I engaged with him the same as I did with every shill and was met with the same response as a shill, so I thought he was a shill. Over time I shifted to believing he's just an old man losing his mental faculties, and if so I shouldn't be negative whatsoever. I should actually be helpful when I never was, just attacking his misguided sense of morals and ego. People need to find the will to change on their own, otherwise live and let live. SC Rep. Mace: ‘Biden is a national security risk,’ calls for cabinet to invoke 25th Amendment

U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-Isle of Palms, said the president’s cabinet needs to step in and have the vice president assume the duties as acting president for the sake of national security.

Mace’s comments came after President Joe Biden announced Sunday he would step aside from the Democratic nomination for president in this year’s election.

In a Zoom call with reporters Monday morning, Mace discussed her planned resolution to call on Vice President Kamala Harris, the favorite to secure the Democratic nomination for president, to invoke the 25th Amendment.

“Joe Biden, I believe, is a national security risk,” Mace said in the call.

The 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution allows a majority of the president’s cabinet and vice president to write to Congress that the president is unable to discharge the duties of the office. The vice president would then take over in an acting capacity.
