A Labour councillor was today arrested on suspicion of encouraging murder after being filmed telling a crowd that far-right rioters should have their throats cut.

Ricky Jones, who sits on Dartford Borough Council in Kent, was seen speaking in Walthamstow, East London, last night as he railed against 'disgusting nasty fascists'.

Speaking to hundreds of people, Jones accused members of the far-right of putting National Front stickers with razor blades hidden behind them on trains.

Jones then launched into an inflammatory speech, saying: 'They are disgusting nasty fascists and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.'

This drew some cheers and sporadic applause from people stood around him, with some people looking shocked at his reference to cutting throats, before he lead the crowd in a chant of 'Free Palestine'.

But today, the Metropolitan Police confirmed he had been arrested at an address in South East London and held on suspicion of encouraging murder and for an offence under the Public Order Act. He is now in custody at a police station in South London.

Jones, who is an organiser for the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) union, has also been suspended by the Labour Party.

What's better than one dazzling night sky phenomenon? Two of course!

Lucky stargazers this weekend might be in for a real treat as heightened solar activity has prompted the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center to issue a geomagnetic storm watch for Aug. 9 and Aug. 10, coinciding more or less with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower (around Aug. 11 and before dawn on Aug. 12.)

If the predicted moderate G2 conditions are met, auroras might be visible as low as New York and Idaho, according to NOAA.

Though geomagnetic storm warnings of this level are not uncommon, they are enough to trigger some impressive northern lights displays.

For example, a recent G1 storm — weaker than a G2 storm — still managed to spark magnificent auroras across the U.S. and Canada.

Even if geomagnetic storm conditions are not reached, a strong enough solar substorm can also create impressive auroras.

Geomagnetic storms are classified by NOAA using a G-scale to measure the intensity of geomagnetic storms.

They range from G5, the most extreme class to G1 minor class storms. The recent geomagnetic storm watch issued by NOAA is currently classified as a G2-class.

The culprits behind the issuance of the recent storm watch are two plumes of plasma and magnetic field known as coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that erupted from the sun on Aug. 7 and are now barreling toward Earth.

The two CMEs are predicted to arrive late on Aug. 9 through Aug. 10, according to NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center's forecast discussion.

However, it should be noted that predicting the exact time of the CMEs' arrival is incredibly difficult as space weather, like weather on Earth, is a fickle creature and challenging to forecast.

Keep in mind that even if a CME hits Earth, the impact on auroras depends on the magnetic field alignment within the CME.

If the alignment allows it to connect with Earth's magnetosphere, it could result in spectacular northern lights displays.

However, if Earth's magnetosphere "closes the door" on the CME, aurora chasers might be left disappointed.

When checking space weather data from resources like Space Weather Live, pay close attention to the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF), especially the Bz value, which indicates the north-south direction of the IMF.

For a strong connection to Earth's northward-pointing magnetosphere, the Bz needs to be oriented southward, according to Space Weather Live.

Should we experience favorable geomagnetic conditions, the incoming CME could trigger impressive mid-latitude auroras. CMEs carry electrically charged atoms called ions.

When CMEs collide with Earth's magnetosphere, they can trigger geomagnetic storms. During these storms, the ions interact with gases in Earth's atmosphere, releasing energy as light.

This phenomenon is known as the northern lights, or aurora borealis, in the Northern Hemisphere, and the southern lights, or aurora australis, in the Southern Hemisphere.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — While former President Donald Trump and running mate JD Vance have been hammering Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz over his response to the violence that erupted after George Floyd’s murder, Trump told the governor at the time that he fully agreed with how Walz handled it.

“What they did in Minneapolis was incredible. They went in and dominated, and it happened immediately,” Trump told Walz and other governors and officials in a phone call on June 1, 2020. The Associated Press on Wednesday obtained an audio recording of the call, which has taken on new significance now that Walz has been tapped as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate against Trump and Vance.

Other administration officials on the call included Defense Secretary Mark Esper; Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Attorney General William Barr.

ABC News reported on the call earlier Wednesday, a day after Harris introduced Walz as her vice presidential pick. CNN posted a transcript of the call back in 2020.

Protests erupted in Minneapolis and around the world after Floyd was murdered by Derek Chauvin, a white former officer who knelt on the Black man’s neck for nearly 9 1/2 minutes, on May 25, 2020. A bystander video captured Floyd’s fading cries of “I can’t breathe.” His death forced a reckoning with police brutality and racism. Some of the protests turned violent.

Walz mobilized the Minnesota National Guard three days later to help restore order to Minneapolis after rioting that included the burning of a police station and numerous businesses. Trump offered federal help to Walz later that day, but the governor did not take him up on it.

During a May 2024 fundraiser in St. Paul, Trump repeated a claim he had been making lately that he was responsible for deploying the National Guard. “The entire city was burning down. … If you didn’t have me as president, you wouldn’t have Minneapolis today,” Trump told a Republican audience. Trump made similar claims at a rally in St. Cloud last month.

It was actually Walz who gave the mobilization order in response to requests from the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul, although Walz came under criticism at the time for not moving faster. There was finger-pointing between Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Walz on who bore responsibility for the delays.

But Walz never deployed to the Middle East. And, when an Iraq war veteran confronted Walz's aides with evidence of what he called "stolen valor," his aides didn’t do much to address his concerns.

7.1-Magnitude Japan Earthquake Prompts Tsunami Advisory; 9 Hurt

August 8, 2024

A strong earthquake struck near Japan's Kyushu Island on Thursday, prompting a tsunami advisory for multiple islands.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude 7.1 tremor struck southeast of Miyazaki, where broken windows at the city's airport were reported, according to the Associated Press.

Officials said nine people were injured on Japan's southern main island of Kyushu, but the injuries were mostly minor, there were no reports of serious damage and tsunami advisories for the quake were later lifted.

Before it was canceled, the tsunami advisory warned that waves up to 3.3 feet were possible for the southern coast of Kyushu and also nearby Shikoku. The Japan Meteorological Agency said waves as big as 1.6 feet were confirmed along the southern Kyushu coast and Shikoku Island about 30 minutes after the quake.

According to the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center, there was no threat to Hawaii or the U.S. West Coast. Seismologists were holding an emergency meeting to analyze whether the quake had affected the nearby Nankai Trough, the source of past devastating earthquakes.

The Fire and Disaster Management Agency said nine people were injured, most of them slightly when falling down or hit by objects in Thursday's quake in Miyazaki and neighboring Kagoshima.

The Nuclear Regulation Authority said all 12 nuclear reactors, including three that are currently operating, on Kyushu and Shikoku remained safe.

Earthquakes in areas with nuclear power plants have been a major concern since a massive earthquake and tsunami in March 2011 triggered the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Japan sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a line of seismic faults encircling the Pacific Ocean, and is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries. An earthquake on Jan. 1 struck near the Noto Peninsula and left widespread damage, killing more than 300 people.

Oxford Space Systems shares Yagi antenna deployment

Oxford Space Systems announced the successful deployment Aug. 7 of its Yagi very high frequency, high gain antenna.

The U.K. company released images showing Yagi deploy on the Ymir-1 maritime communications satellite.

“This is a major step for us in demonstrating our deployable technology and increasing the credibility of our solutions,” Juan Castillo, Oxford Space Systems business development manager, told SpaceNews.

“This antenna enables ship tracking and communication from low-cost platforms.”

AAC Clyde Space, Saab and Orbcomm collaborated on the Ymir-1 mission.

The mission is focused on enhancing maritime communication through the VHF Data Exchange System.

“The successful deployment of the Yagi antenna on Ymir-1 marks a significant step forward in our mission to enhance maritime communications,” Luis Gomes, CEO of AAC Clyde Space, said in a statement.

“This collaboration with Oxford Space Systems is a testament to the innovation and partnership that drive our industry forward.”

Compact Stowage

Oxford Space Systems designed and manufactured the Yagi antenna with proprietary materials and techniques.

The antennas can be stowed within a one-unit cubesat, which measures 10 centimeters on a side.

When deployed, the antenna operates from the 156.5 megahertz to 162.5 megahertz band.

“We are thrilled to see our Yagi antenna successfully deployed on the Ymir-1 satellite,” said Sean Sutcliffe, Oxford Space Systems CEO, said in a statement.

“This achievement not only demonstrates our expertise in deployable antenna technology but also highlights the importance of collaboration in advancing global maritime communication.”

TAMPA, Fla. — Italian ground segment service provider Leaf Space has deployed its first ground station with a Ka-band link to meet demand for higher data rate applications.

Leaf Space said the triband Ka, X and S-band antenna at its Blönduós, Iceland facility entered service in June following successful tests with a remote sensing customer, which is using the Ka-band link to download larger amounts of data from orbit.

Leaf Space’s previous 26 antennas only provide services in the S, X and, in a limited number of locations, ultra high frequency (UHF) bands, supporting missions such as Earth observation and monitoring to communications with orbital transfer vehicles.

While X-band enables remote sensing downlinks with data rates up to 1.2 gigabits per second, the Ka-band antenna currently supports data rates up to 6 Gbps, meaning operators can download larger amounts of data per satellite pass.

Jonata Puglia, Leaf Space’s CEO, said current and potential customers are demanding faster speeds to downlink increasingly larger amounts of data generated in orbit.

“The remote sensing market is slowly but surely moving towards high data rate applications,” Puglia said, “even if the Ka-band satellite radios are not yet widely available, expensive and power-hungry.”

Leaf Space chose Iceland for its first triband Ka, X and S-band antenna because the country’s northern location provides optimal revisit times and coverage for customers most interested in Ka-band.

Puglia said Leaf Space also recently commenced operations with two antennas in Punta Arenas, Chile.

The decade-old company plans to install 10 more antennas before the end of the year, including two additional Ka-band antennas.

The expansion plan follows a $22 million Series B funding round last year for Leaf Space, which supports more than 100 satellites with a ground network spanning 18 locations worldwide.

Leaf Space customers include Canada-based connectivity provider Kepler Communications, hyperspectral Earth observation operator Pixxel of India and AST SpaceMobile, a venture developing a direct-to-smartphone network out of Texas.

Space Training and Readiness Command Guardians have a new home at Florida's Space Coast.

STARCOM's unit, Space Delta 10, charged with developing doctrine, tactics, wargaming, and lessons learned, was welcomed to Patrick Space Force Base with a change of command – and location – Aug. 7.

Col. Jack D. Fulmer II relinquished command of Delta 10, paving the way for Col. Shannon DaSilva to take the helm at Patrick SFB.

Maj. Gen. Timothy Sejba, STARCOM commander, praised Fulmer's leadership, stating, “When Jay took command in September 2021, he faced limited resources in terms of personnel, facilities, and equipment.

Despite these challenges, he exceeded all expectations and established a solid foundation for Delta 10, laying the cornerstone for the Space Force.

We are deeply grateful for Jay and his team’s accomplishments.”

DaSilva, a distinguished ROTC graduate at Purdue University, began her career in the Air Force in 2003, serving in various roles, including missile operations, range control, and mission flight control.

She transferred to the Space Force in October 2020.

Before assuming command of Delta 10, DaSilva was the deputy director of operations at Space Systems Command and supported the Assured Access to Space mission at Patrick SFB, overseeing enterprise integration, space access and future operations.

“Our Guardians are in excellent hands,” Sejba said. “Shannon was already a strong partner to STARCOM in her previous assignment and we are eager to see her lead Delta 10 in a new way. It will be a big challenge, but I know she is up for it.”

In her inaugural address as commander, DaSilva expressed enthusiasm for the new role and the future of Delta 10.

“It is an absolute honor to follow the inaugural commander, Colonel Fulmer, as the next leader of Space Delta 10,” DaSilva said.

“I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to join this talented team of professionals as we put down roots at Patrick Space Force Base.

I look forward to partnering with the talent in the Florida modeling and simulation community to lead the Space Force’s wargames, lessons learned, and doctrine, tactics and concept development into the future to make a difference for our service and our nation in the era of Great Power Competition.”

In his farewell remarks, Fulmer reflected on his time leading Delta 10 and expressed confidence in its future under DaSilva's command.

“Leading this unit has been the honor of my career. Our journey has been one of innovation, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the Guardians of our service,” Fulmer said.

“No one is more qualified to assume command than Colonel DaSilva, and I’m confident that her fresh perspective is exactly what Delta 10 needs to continue its rise to the next level and beyond.”

STARCOM, established in 2021, comprises five subordinate Space Deltas: Delta 1, Delta 10, Delta 11, Delta 12 and Delta 13.

The command is responsible for developing U.S. Space Force Guardians and validating capabilities and concepts to ensure Space Force combat effectiveness.

The Justice Department Makes The Case Against Hunter Biden (And Itself In California)

Special Counsel David Weiss appears to have finally made the long-awaited case exposing years of concealment and political corruption. No, it is not the case against Hunter Biden. The allegations of tax fraud in California are obvious and unavoidable. Weiss just made the case against the Justice Department and himself in protecting Hunter Biden from the most damaging charges of being an unregistered foreign agent. In a new filing, Weiss released evidence on Hunter seeking money to advance the interests of a Romanian on United States policy.

I have previously testified on the Foreign Agents Registration Act and have previously written about the disturbing disconnect in the treatment of the President’s son as opposed to figures like Paul Manafort.

The charge was always one of the greatest fears of the White House. If Hunter Biden was a foreign agent, it would magnify the influence peddling scandal and further link his conduct to work of his father as vice president and later president.

What was previously known about millions received from China, Russia, and other countries made such a charge obvious. In the past, the Justice Department has used the charge early and often in high-profile cases to pressure defendants and force cooperation or plea agreements. During the Trump Administration, an official could not go to Epcot without drawing a FARA charge from DOJ.

This charge has been a favorite of the DOJ before the President’s son was implicated in a massive influence peddling scheme with foreign figures.

Here is the definition used in such cases:

A “foreign agent” is defined as “(1) any person who acts as an agent, representative, employee, or servant, or any person who acts in any other capacity at the order, request, or under the direction or control, of a foreign principal or of a person any of whose activities are directly or indirectly supervised, directed, controlled, financed, or subsidized in whole or in major part by a foreign principal, and who directly or through any other person— (i) engages within the United States in political activities for or in the interests of such foreign principal; (ii) acts within the United States as a public relations counsel, publicity agent, information-service employee or political consultant for or in the interests of such foreign principal; (iii) within the United States solicits, collects, disburses, or dispenses contributions, loans, money, or other things of value for or in the interest of such foreign principal; or (iv) within the United States represents the interests of such foreign principal before any agency or official of the Government of the United States; and (2) any person who agrees, consents, assumes or purports to act as, or who is or holds himself out to be, whether or not pursuant to contractual relationship, an agent of a foreign principal as defined in clause (1) of this subsection.”

For years, I have expressed alarm at the special treatment afforded to Hunter Biden on the charges. Many of us have also criticized Weiss for allowing the most serious tax charges to expire despite being able to extend the statute of limitations. He has yet to offer a compelling reason why prosecutors would ever allow viable felony charges to expire when they could have extended that period.

Now, Biden is seeking to avoid conviction under the tax charges in California. He is repeating the claims that failed in his recent gun violation. He is claiming that he was an addict and not responsible for his criminal conduct, even though he was flying around the world collecting millions from foreign sources.

To rebut that claim, Weiss’ team said they plan to introduce evidence showing his sophisticated scheme to tap foreign sources interested in influencing the government and federal policy.

UFO crashed in Arizona and 'was stolen by officials in cover-up', leaked government documents claim

A UFO crashed in Arizona, leaked documents claim. The US seized a UFO in May 1953 that crashed outside Kingman, near Route 66, according to a conversation between government officials.

The visitors came tumbling down from the sky and slammed into the desert just east of Kingman, according to UFO researchers. Author Preston Dennett believes it's more than just a story.

He's been investigating UFOs since 1986 and is one of many who have looked at this alleged particular UFO crash, calling it the "Paradise Valley Crash" or "Kingman Crash".

The incident is not well known to those outside of Kingman and is not as famous as the 1947 Roswell Crash, but Dennett believes it to be in the top five of known UFO crashes.

"It's very rare to have multiple witnesses, multiple sources of information, confirming an incident like this," Dennett told 12news. Researchers have several differing theories as to what brought the UFO down.

These include nuclear tests taking place in the area, unstable gravitational field lines or powerful radars being tested around Kingman to combat foreign aircraft.

At the research center at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts right off Route 66, there's a section dedicated to the UFO crash. Some redacted government documents allegedly detail the crash from those who were there.

Fritz Werner is a name that kept coming up, who Dennett now knowns him to be Arthur Stansel. Werner was a pseudonym Stansel reportedly used when he talked about what happened in Kingman.

Stansel was an Air Force Engineer who studied the impact nuclear blasts had on homes and buildings, documents claim. He was one of 40 people taken to the crash scene in a blacked-out bus so passengers wouldn't know their surroundings.

They were told this was part of a secret project, according to the redacted documents.

The reports claim they saw a UFO measuring 14 feet high and 30 feet in diameter upon arrival. It was made out of an unfamiliar metal that was plunged about 20 inches into the ground but was not damaged from the impact.

"It was [Stansel's] job to basically determine the speed of this object as it came down, based upon the gouge it made in the soil, and he estimated it was about 1200 miles per hour," Dennett said.

Next to the UFO, documents claim, was the reported dead body of a man, understood to be the pilot, who was described as being about four feet tall and wearing a silver metallic suit.

The workers conducted their studies on the aircraft. When they piled back on the bus, the document claims an Air Force Colonel who was heading up the operation made them take an oath to keep the mission a secret.

Around two decades later, Stansel signed an affidavit reportedly confirming what he saw. Fifty years after that, claims began circulating that investigators didn't just investigate the crash but took it.

Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Christopher Mellon released a redacted conversation between him and a person he called a senior U.S. government member whose name was not disclosed.

It claimed people would be "slack-jawed" if word got out about what they knew—writing that the federal government seized the Kingman UFO.

"These craft are scooped up, taken to various Air Force bases, scientific labs, and studied intensely, intently to figure out exactly what we can figure out about how they work," Dennett said.

Dennett believes we will never truly know if what happened in Kingman is true unless the US Government admits to it. He added that this is unlikely.

The Ukrainian attack on Russian territory in the Kursk region is by far the most serious cross-border assault by Kiev forces of the entire war, and it is now in its third day.

A report by the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) says that Ukrainian troops have advanced up to ten kilometers inside Russian territory, while some unconfirmed reports have claimed further reach.

A Massachusetts District Court Judge has dismissed Mexico’s $10 billion lawsuit against six out of the eight named American gun manufacturers that the country argues are responsible for firearms flooding south across the U.S.-Mexico border.

As a result, the Mexican government argued the defendants should be held responsible for a significant portion of the country’s crime—many in which the criminals employed the use of U.S.-made guns. This, in turn, has led to declining investment, economic activity, and higher spending on law enforcement, Mexico said.

The government said more than 500,000 guns are illegally trafficked annually to Mexico from the United States, more than 68 percent of which are made by companies being sued.

In the ruling, U.S. District Judge Dennis Saylor found that Mexico had not shown enough evidence to prove that the activities of six defendant companies in Massachusetts were connected to gun crime in Mexico, citing jurisdictional problems.

As a result, he dismissed the lawsuit against Sturm Ruger & Company, Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Glock, Colt’s Manufacturing Company, Century International Arms, and Beretta U.S.A. Corp. Two defendants remain: Smith & Wesson Brands and wholesaler Witmer Public Safety Group.

Smith & Wesson Brands and Witmer Public Safety Group have not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.

According to Saylor, the core question for jurisdictional purposes is whether Mexico’s claims against the six moving defendants “arise” from their business transactions in Massachusetts.

However, he says the connection to Massachusetts, in this case, is “gossamer-thin at best” because Mexico’s government is “obviously not a citizen of Massachusetts,” and none of the defendants operate or have a principal place of business in the state.

“None of the alleged injuries occurred in Massachusetts. No Massachusetts citizen is alleged to have suffered any injury,” Saylor said in the ruling.

“And plaintiff has not identified any specific firearm, or set of firearms, that was sold in Massachusetts and caused injury in Mexico.”

Saylor also dismissed the argument that, statistically, it was likely that some firearms sold in Massachusetts were eventually illegally trafficked to Mexico.

Steve Shadowen, a lawyer representing Mexico, responded on behalf of the Mexican government, saying it was disappointed with the decision and would be considering alternative legal options such as appealing or refiling the case in other courthouses.

He also had his fair share of scoops, most recently exposing MSNBC’s decision to yank “Morning Joe” off the air after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

“Oliver has established himself as a tough but scrupulously fair leading voice in media reporting and commentary – never afraid to call it as he sees it,” CNN boss Thompson said.

A rep for CNN said “Reliable Sources” will go on summer break but return in the fall with a new writer.

The first issue of “Status” is set to appear on Monday, and it will have a launch sponsor, which Darcy declined to name.

A subscription will begin at $15 a month or $150 a year with an elite membership, with perks like private Zoom calls available for $595 annually, The New York Times reported Thursday. Darcy told the outlet that “Status” will cover topics ranging from Silicon Valley to presidential politics to the effects of artificial intelligence technology on news consumption.

Zelensky aide reveals goal of cross-border raid

Kiev wants to instill fear into Russians as they don’t react to anything else, Mikhail Podoliak has claimed

Kiev launched its cross-border incursion into Kursk Region in an attempt to instill fear among the Russian population, a senior aide to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has said.

Ukrainian forces began an offensive in the Russian region earlier this week, allocating troops for the operation despite being pushed back elsewhere on the front line.Kiev’s objectives include placing Russians under psychological pressure in a bid to erode support for their government, Mikhail Podoliak stated in a television interview on Thursday. “Today they have a war that is expanding deeper inside the Russian Federation. Will they fear that? Yes,” he claimed. “Do they respond to anything but fear? No, and everyone should realize that at last.”

Russian officials have described the Ukrainian attack as terrorist in nature, citing apparent deliberate attacks on civilian targets. A Ukrainian kamikaze drone hit an ambulance in Kursk Region on Tuesday, killing its driver and a paramedic and injuring a doctor, Governor Andrey Smirnov said.

Podoliak claimed that Kiev’s ultimate goal of terrorizing Russians was aimed at securing a stronger position during eventual peace talks with Moscow. Zelensky himself made similar remarks in a video statement on Thursday.

“The more pressure is applied to Russia… the closer peace will be – a just peace through just force,” he said, thanking Ukrainian troops for their actions.

Zelensky claims that a “just” end to the conflict can only be reached through his own peace formula, which includes Kiev asserting control over all the land it claims under its sovereignty, as well as war reparations and a tribunal for senior Russian officials. Moscow has rejected the idea as detached from reality and unworthy of consideration.

The Ukrainian leader has claimed on several recent occasions that Russia could be invited to a summit later this year, where it would supposedly be pressured by the international community into accepting Kiev’s terms. A Swiss-hosted “peace summit” in June – to which Moscow wasn’t invited – was widely perceived as a failure for Ukrainian diplomacy, considering the underwhelming content of its final communique.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s latest update on the border clashes in Kursk Region, Ukraine has lost 660 troops and 82 pieces of heavy weaponry since the start of the offensive. Special Counsel: Hunter Biden Accepted Money to ‘Influence U.S. Government Agencies’

Hunter Biden accepted $3,101,258 from Romanian partner Gabriel Popoviciu to “influence U.S. government agencies” when President Joe Biden served as vice president, Special Counsel David Weiss said in a Wednesday court filing.

Weiss, who stopped short of accusing Hunter of having “improperly coordinated with the Obama administration,” failed to indict him on Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) violations in 2023, opting instead to indict the president’s son on alleged tax violations, potential wrongdoing that Republicans claim falls short of justice.

Weiss could still charge Hunter with violating FARA because his sweetheart plea deal, which was negotiated to give Hunter sweeping immunity, fell apart. The sweetheart deal crumbled under judicial scrutiny, and Weiss subsequently filed separate gun and tax charges in Delaware and California, respectively. The tax trial is scheduled for September.

The court filing states that the Department of Justice (DOJ), at trial, intends to introduce evidence not only related to Hunter’s Romanian business partner but to CEFC China Energy Co. and Burisma Holdings, two entities that paid Hunter millions both when his father was vice president and a private citizen.

“This evidence will not include evidence that the defendant performed lobbying activity in exchange for this compensation,” the filing says.

“Rather, the evidence will show the defendant performed almost no work in exchange for the millions of dollars he received from these entities,” it adds.

One of Hunter’s biggest deals came when Biden family members accepted money from CEFC China Energy Co., an organization with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Popoviciu. The House Oversight Committee revealed in 2023 that CEFC controlled State Energy HK Limited, a company linked to $1.3 million collective payments to the Biden family members.

Through the Biden family’s suspicious activity reports (SARs), the committee also discovered a Biden associate, Rob Walker, received a $3 million wire transfer from CEFC. In turn, four Biden family members — Hunter, James, Hallie, and an unidentified “Biden” — received a collective $1.3 million cut from the $3 million wire transfer.

Hunter, who is a lawyer, also earned a $1 million legal retainer in 2017 from the CEFC’s chairman, Ye Jianming. In addition, Hunter received a large diamond, worth an estimated $80,000, from Ye in February 2017.

As Somali Gangs Waged War and Trafficked Children In Minnesota, Tim Walz Asked for More Somali Refugees

As Somali refugees in Minnesota waged gang wars and engaged in child sex trafficking, Governor Tim Walz pushed for even more refugees to be resettled in his state.

Walz, whom Vice President Kamala Harris tapped as her running mate this week, petitioned the Trump administration to send more refugees to Minnesota in 2019, even though the state already had the highest number of refugees per capita in the United States. The call came as Somali refugees, a large and growing population in Minnesota, engaged in gang warfare, child sex trafficking, and later, hundreds of millions of dollars of fraud.

“Minnesota has a strong moral tradition of welcoming those who seek refuge. Our state has always stepped forward to help those who are fleeing desperate situations and need a safe place to call home,” Walz wrote in a letter to then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “I offer my consent to continue refugee resettlement in the State of Minnesota.”

Walz’s request was a response to former President Donald Trump’s move to allow states and localities to deny increased refugee resettlement in their communities. Walz, who had previously pushed for Minnesota to become a sanctuary state, has a long record of supporting unfettered immigration. His record on immigration has come under increased scrutiny after Harris named him to the Democratic presidential ticket.

“Refugees strengthen our communities. Bringing new cultures and fresh perspectives, they contribute to the social fabric of our state,” Walz said in his letter to Pompeo.

But Somali refugees brought more than fresh perspectives to Minnesota. Since at least 2009, members of Minneapolis’s Somali refugee community have formed gangs along the same clan lines that plunged Somalia into civil war. Members of the gangs — many of whom fled Somalia to escape clan warfare — engaged in what appeared to be targeted murders against one another. In 2008 the Minneapolis Police Department created a special Somali Liaison position in an attempt to stem the violence.

In 2012, authorities uncovered a Somali child sex trafficking ringoperating out of Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as Columbus, Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee. Multiple girls under the age of 14 had been forced into prostitution by three different Somali gangs, resulting in the 30 different defendants — many of whom were allowed into the United States as refugees — being charged by federal authorities.

Violence between rival Somali gangs has continued to plague Minnesota in recent years, particularly in Minneapolis’ Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, now referred to as “Little Mogadishu.” Violent crime in the area soared a whopping 56 percent in 2018, with authorities attributing the rise to gangs like the Somali Outlaws, the Somali Mafia, the Hot Boyz, and Madhibaan with Attitude.

A YouTube personality visited Minneapolis this year to document the gang warfare interviewed a bail bondsman and bounty hunter who said that “Somali gangs are taking over.”

During Walz’s tenure, Somali migrants in Minnesota defrauded the government out of a quarter of a billion taxpayer dollars intended to feed impoverished children. Nearly 50 defendants created a fraudulent organization called “Feeding Our Future,” and multiple subsidiary organizations that defrauded $250 million from a coronavirus relief program. Only $50 million of those funds have been recovered.

Somalis were the largest refugee population in the North Star State as of 2023. The overall number of refugees set to be resettled in 2024 is expected to surge from 1,500 to 2,400. Over 13,000 Somali refugees were accepted into Minnesota between 2005 and 2018, and the state had 69,000 Somali residents as of 2019, accounting for about 40 percent of all Somalis residing in the entire United States.

Recent public opinion surveys have found that immigration is one of the most important issues for voters heading into the November election, and that an increasing share of Americans are in favor of slashing immigration and ramping up mass deportations.

The US is ready to guarantee that it would allow Israel to restart the genocidal war in Gaza after the first phase of any hostage and ceasefire deal that might be reached with Hamas, according to Israeli media reports.

Hostage deal talks have been stalled since the Israeli killing of Hamas’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, and it’s unclear when they will resume, but the US and Israel have been discussing potential proposals.

According to The Times of Israel, a proposal that’s been discussed would involve three phases where Israel would halt its military operations and Hamas would release hostages. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants a guarantee that he’ll be able to restart military operations after the first phase, which is when negotiations will be held on implementing the next two phases.

The US has not yet provided a written agreement that it would allow Israel to restart operations but has expressed its approval of the idea. Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the US wouldn’t give the guarantee in writing until an agreement is reached with Hamas.

The Israeli condition could make Hamas less likely to agree to a deal since one of its main demands has been a permanent ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. During previous negotiations, Hamas had agreed to language that was vague enough that Israel could accept without actually committing to a permanent ceasefire. But it’s unclear if Hamas would agree to a deal where Israel gets an explicit guarantee from the US that it could restart military operations.

In the weeks and months leading up to Haniyeh’s assassination, Netanyahu had been working to sabotage the chances of a deal. After Hamas made the concession that it wouldn’t seek a guarantee for a permanent ceasefire upfront, Netanyahu began making new public demands that Mossad Director David Barnea, the Israeli official in charge of the talks, said would thwart an agreement.
