An alert was declared at the Vogtle Electric nuclear power facility in Burke County, Georgia, on Tuesday afternoon. While officials initially did not provide a reason for the alert, they assured the public in a press release that there was no danger. Later, it was confirmed that a fire had broken out in an area away from the reactors. Georgia Power stated that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), along with local and state agencies, had been notified about the alert. It remains unclear if anyone has been injured.

👀A California sheriff blasted the Harris campaign on Tuesday for using his likeness in a new ad without his permission, according to a new report, adding that he doesn’t endorse the Democratic presidential nominee because she “did nothing to stop people from illegally crossing the border.”

 

“In light of a recent political ad put out by Kamala Harris featuring Sheriff Boudreaux, as well as other local law enforcement, the Sheriff wants to make it abundantly clear that his image is being used without his permission, and he does NOT endorse Harris for President or any other political office,” Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux told Fox News in a statement.

The needs of manpower led to a considerable increase in the immigration rate. In 1890, the personal union between Luxembourg and the Netherlands was undone when the last male descendant of the Orange-Nassau dynasty passed away and the crown was passed on to the Nassau-Weilburg branch of the family, which was the only lineage of the Nassau family to have a male descendant. Luxembourg thus ended up with a dynasty of its own. Grand duke Adolphe was the first representative of this lineage. A German attempt to annex Luxembourg in 1914 failed. Had it succeeded, it would have jeopardised the grand duchy’s ongoing tradition of neutrality which was established since 1867. The failed attempt encouraged Luxembourg to free itself from the 'Zollverein'. It then signed an economic agreement with Belgium in 1921 known as the UEBL (Union économique belgo-luxembourgeoise), and adopted the Belgian Franc as the currency of the UEBL, whilst conserving the Luxembourgish franc as its national currency.

Over 100 terror attacks foiled in Russia in 2024 – Security Service

More than 1,000 people engaged in subversive activities have been detained, officials have said

 

Russian law enforcement agencies have thwarted over 100 terrorist attacks that were masterminded by Kiev or its Western backers in 2024, the National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) has said.

 

In a statement on Tuesday, the NAC reaffirmed its determination to prevent terrorist attacks in Russia, especially after Ukraine launched its large-scale cross-border offensive in Kursk Region.

 

As the fighting on the border continues, Ukraine, backed by Western intelligence services, has unleashed an “unprecedented anti-Russian information campaign” to foment division and social strife in the country, the agency said, adding that foreign special services have stepped up efforts to recruit Russian citizens – especially young people – to take part in terrorist activities.

 

A total of 110 terrorist attacks involving Russian citizens recruited by “the enemy” have been prevented, the NAC said, adding that more than 1,050 people have been detained for preparing and committing terrorist crimes, or justifying, financing, or propagating terrorism.

 

The agency warned that the threat posed by international terrorist organizations, many of which profess radical versions of Islam, continues to loom over Russia, noting that law enforcement agencies have disrupted the activities of as many as 45 clandestine terrorist cells this year alone.

 

The NAC statement comes after Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed last week that the Ukrainian government had essentially become a terrorist organization acting on behalf of Western nations as it conducted attacks on peaceful people in Kursk Region.

 

She also claimed that Kiev is “spreading… terrorism across the planet,” referring to the move by Ukrainian officials to initially claim credit for helping Tuareg militants in Mali stage an ambush on Russian military contractors. Kiev’s intelligence services later denied any involvement after facing backlash from Mali and neighboring Niger.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that one of the goals of Kiev’s attack on Kursk Region was to undermine the morale of the population, but that it failed to do so. On the contrary, he added, the attack has led to a surge in recruiting.

=UN seeking access to Russia’s Kursk Region

Human rights officials want to gather information on alleged Ukrainian atrocities

 

The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has asked Moscow for access to Kursk Region in order to verify Russian claims of abuses committed by invading Ukrainian troops.

 

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova had called on the UN to condemn Ukrainian “terrorism” and take measures to prevent human rights violations.

 

“We are trying to gather information about the situation in Kursk Region, but without access it is very difficult,” OHCHR spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said on Tuesday. “We have requested access to Russia to be able to obtain additional information.”

 

The OHCHR has acknowledged that at least four Russian civilians have been killed as a result of the “Ukrainian military operation.”

 

According to acting Kursk Region Governor Aleksey Smirnov, at least 12 Russian civilians have been killed and another 121 injured, including ten children. He also said that over 120,000 residents have been evacuated from the border area.

 

Russian lawmaker Aleksey Chepa, deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told the media on Tuesday that Moscow is inclined to approve the UN request for access.

 

“If there are no provocations here, and the UN commissioners will be objective about the information they can get there, then obviously yes,” Chepa told the outlet Lenta.ru. “They can see the destruction that took place and draw the appropriate conclusions.”

 

Elements of six Ukrainian brigades invaded Kursk Region in the morning of August 6, taking over several border villages. Moscow has introduced a state of emergency and launched a counter-terrorist operation in the region, which borders Ukraine’s Sumy.

 

Ukrainian troops interviewed by Western outlets have admitted that the goal of the incursion was to capture some territory that could be traded with Russia in possible peace talks and to relieve pressure on the Donbass front. Moscow has since ruled out any negotiations with Kiev, while Russian troops have accelerated their advance.

That is correct and paper ballots have the same issues. You people do not think, at all. This is the only retrievable ballot. You can always assure that your vote was counted, you can change your vote for a recall, and it can't be tampered with because the security is not just on some remote server somewhere but comes from your device, you hold the private key not the server.
