Facts First:Trump’s claim is false. Both violent crime and property crime dropped significantly in 2023 and in the first quarter of 2024.

 

There are limitations to the FBI-published data from local law enforcement – the numbers are preliminary, not all communities submitted data and the submitted data usually has some errors – so these statistics may not precisely capture the size of the recent declines in crime. But other data sources make it clear crime has indeed declined to some extent.

 

The preliminary FBI data for 2023 showed a roughly 13% decline in murder and a roughly 6% decline in overall violent crime compared to 2022, bringing both murder and violent crime levels below where they were in Trump’s last calendar year in office in 2020. The preliminary FBI data for the first quarter of 2024 showed an even steeper drop from the same quarter in 2023 – a roughly 26% decline in murder and roughly 15% decline in overall violent crime.

 

Crime data expert Jeff Asher, co-founder of the firm AH Datalytics, said earlier this year that if the final 2023 figures show a decline in murder of at least 10% from 2022, this would be the fastest US decline “ever recorded.” And he noted that both the preliminary FBI-published data from the first quarter of 2024 and also “crime data collected from several independent sources point to an even larger decline in property and violent crime, including a substantially larger drop in murder, so far this year compared to 2023, though there is still time left in the year for those trends to change.”

 

After Trump claimed in June that “crime is so much up,” Anna Harvey, a political science professor and director of the Public Safety Lab at New York University, noted to CNN that the claim is contradicted both by the data from the FBI and from the Major Cities Chiefs Association, which represents 70 large US police forces. She said: “It would be more accurate to say that crime is so much down.

Difficult time to go to college, know a lot of college age kids, politics infiltrates most fields, so stay away from anything political at most schools. Even holistic med is infiltrated, know someone who just left premiere medical program in naturopathy for that reason. Wanted everyone jabbed previously.

Anything in education is corrupt. Poli sci - no way. Maybe agriculture, elec engring or coding, if you're careful. Learning a language, you could become a translator but you have to be talented to do well. Find a program with no DEI, hard to do but worth trying.

The great majority of Americans believe crime is increasing.

However, data collected by the Department of Justice shows that personal and property crimes have been trending down significantly for decades.

There are significant gaps in this data, however, and national trends don't capture how crime is experienced at the local level.

 

Almost two-thirds of Americans believe crime is a serious problem, a Gallup poll found last month, with 77 percent convinced that crime is increasing. Fewer homicides is cause for celebration, but what about the overall crime rate, including property crimes? It’s difficult to know. Lots of idioms get misunderstood by people when they are unfamiliar with the culture in which the idiom was hatched.

I heard once that the "eye of the needle" referred to a small gate within a larger gate. The larger gate to the city being closed at night for security, but people could still come in and out thru the smaller gate. Getting to the city at night time meant that the camel had to squeeze thru the small gate. In order to do so the camel had to get down really low and crawl thru with its legs bent. It could be done, but it was very difficult.

Rebecca Lavrenz, known as the “J6 Praying Grandma,” has been sentenced to 12 months of probation, including six months of house arrest, and ordered to pay the largest misdemeanor fine in U.S. history for her involvement in the January 6th Capitol protests, The National Pulse can report.

Lavrenz, 72, was found guilty of four federal misdemeanor charges related to her participation in the protest against the certification of the 2020 presidential election results, which amounted to walking into an open door at the U.S. Capitol and praying in the tourist areas.

In his sentencing memo, Biden-Harris U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves opined that because Lavrenz had pointed out the political persecution of J6ers, she should be considered “unrepentant” in her “promotion of the riot.” That, Graves laughably claims, “is powerful evidence that she continues to pose a threat to future acts of political violence.”

A Muslim U.S. District Court Judge overseeing the case, Zia Faruqui, handed down a $103,000 fine, believed to be one of, if not the largest ever imposed for a misdemeanor charge in U.S. history. In addition to the fine, Lavrenz was ordered to pay $500 in restitution and banned from using the internet for six months. This restriction, typically reserved for cases involving child pornography, has raised concerns about its appropriateness, especially given the proximity to the upcoming presidential election.

At her sentencing, Lavrenz told the judge, “While I respect you, I answer to a higher judge.” Her defense team argued that the internet ban, which prevents her from managing her Bed & Breakfast business, checking her email, or accessing online banking, would severely impact her livelihood. Despite these concerns, the judge justified the restriction necessary to prevent the spread of “inflammatory material” online, particularly in the lead-up to the election – effectively an admission of election interference by a U.S. judge.

Faruqui also ordered Lavrenz to submit to government monitoring software on her computer and mobile phone, further limiting her digital freedom. Additionally, she will not be allowed to meet with her Congressman or Senator at the Capitol without the permission of her Probation Officer, adding another layer of restriction to her sentence.

During the hearing, the judge made several pointed remarks, questioning Lavrenz’s priorities and expressing skepticism about her faith.

“I don’t know why being the J6 Praying Grandmother is more important than being an actual grandmother,” Faruqui said. Satanism is a religion. And people who practice it engage in evil things in the name of their religion.

I get it, but what about people who claim they are christian but still engage in evil activity is that satanic?
