On April 24, 2007, Kamala Harris testified before Congress in support of the John R. Justice Prosecutors and Defenders Incentive Act of 2007. The bill, which was introduced that year but never passed the upper chamber, would have created a student loan repayment program for state and local prosecutors, and Harris, then the district attorney of San Francisco, argued it would draw top legal talent to offices like hers.

 

In a written statement to the House Judiciary Committee, she described how debt-addled prosecutors often decamp to the private sector a few years into the job, lured by the prospect of higher pay that could be used to pay off law school debt. That dynamic had left many district attorneys' offices short-staffed, she said, forcing them to put rookie attorneys on complex cases.

 

"There are numerous criminal cases that are particularly difficult because of the dynamics involved," Harris wrote. "To name just a few—child abuse, elder neglect, domestic violence, identity theft and public corruption. The stakes are simply too high to allow any attorney other than experienced prosecutors to handle these matters."

 

By repaying the loans of prosecutors and public defenders, Harris argued, the bill, which had been introduced with bipartisan support, would provide an incentive for lawyers to enter public service, or at least diminish the incentive to leave it.

 

The statement was simple and pragmatic. But Harris wasn’t the first person to make it.

 

Virtually her entire testimony about the bill was taken from that of another district attorney, Paul Logli of Winnebago County, Illinois, who had testified in support of the legislation two months earlier before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Both statements cite the same surveys, use the same language, and make the same points in the same order, with a paragraph added here or there.They even contain the same typos, such as missing punctuation or mistaken plurals. One error—a "who" that should have been a "whom"—was corrected in Harris’s transposition.

 

The main difference between their testimonies is that Logli submitted his to the Senate instead of the House. And unlike Harris, Logli is a Republican.

 

Harris, who also testified about two other bills that day,devoted approximately 1,500 words to the John R. Justice Act. Nearly 1,200 of them—or 80 percent—were copied verbatim from the statement Logli submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 27, 2007, two months before Harris delivered her testimony.

Logli did not respond to a request for comment.

 

The passages are some of the most striking cases in which Harris, a former senator and state attorney general, appears to have plagiarized in her capacity as a government official, lifting large chunks of texts from other attorneys—and in one case from Wikipedia—without attribution, according to a Washington Free Beacon review of her work.

 

The examples have not been previously reported and range from paragraphs to pages. Several appear in reports that Harris published as California attorney general, a post she held for six years and has made a centerpiece of her campaign.

 

"Being a state's top lawyer is a real responsibility," said O.H Skinner, Arizona’s former solicitor general. "It requires attention to detail. When you cannot bother to produce your own work, it says something about your approach to a job that demands the best from those in it."

Harris has said she worked at during her college years, though her camp hasn't published any photos of her job there.

 

And McDonald's revealed this week that it does not have records to verify her claim that she worked at one of its restaurants in the 1980s.

 

She was also recently accused of copying 'word-for-word' several blocks of text in her book 'Smart on Crime' published in 2009.

 

The new plagiarism allegations arise from testimony Harris gave as a senator in support of the John R. Justice Prosecutors and Defenders Incentive Act of 2007.

 

It was a bill that would help pay student loans for state and federal prosecutors to keep talented lawyers in the profession.

 

Harris' interest in the proposal was personal, as she spent her early years as a career prosecutor before she ran for political office.

 

But her written statement in support of the proposal sent to the House Judiciary Committee was not tailored to her own experience.

 

It rather reflected nearly verbatim text sent by District Attorney Paul Logli of Winnebago County, Illinois, a Republican, in support of the bill.

 

Of the 1,500 words in the testimony, eighty percent were exactly the same as Logli's submission, according to the Free Beacon analysis.

 

It is unclear whether both political figures were using the same source text to write their testimony, although it is highly likely the product of a sloppy or lazy staff work.

With just two weeks to go until Election Day, the new examples could undercut key parts of the Harris campaign’s message as it navigates a tightening race. Harris has sought to portray herself as the candidate of honesty and integrity, in part by touting her record of prosecuting child sex crimes.

 

But as California attorney general,she didn’t just copy boilerplate language without attribution. In one of the lengthier passages reviewed by Free Beacon, she lifted a fictionalized story about a victim of sex trafficking—and presented it as a real case.

 

The story came from Polaris Project, a nonprofit that runs the National Human Trafficking Hotline. By June 2012, the project had posted a series of vignettes on its website that were "representative of the types of calls" the hotline receives and "meant for informational purposes only," according to an archived webpage. To preserve confidentiality, the project said, key details like "names, locations, and other identifying information" had been changed.

 

But in November 2012, Harris included one of those vignettes in a report she published on the state of human trafficking in California. Though she said that the story was "courtesy of" the hotline, she copied it verbatim and did not acknowledge that it contained fictionalized material.

 

The only detail she changed was the location. The Polaris Project described a young woman, "Kelly," who had been forced to engage in prostitution and was rescued by law enforcement in Washington, D.C. But in Harris’s telling, Kelly had conveniently been found in San Francisco.

 

The change effectively gave Harris credit for a rescue that never occurred, at least in her state, and reflects what Skinner, the former solicitor general, said was a common perception of Harris among legal officials at the time.

 

"She was never viewed in the Attorney General community as being an intellectual leader," he said. "It is very on-brand with that reputation to hear now that she was repackaging stories from other locations as though they happened in California."

 

The story from the hotline wasn’t a one-off. In a 2010 report on organized crime, Harris copied several passages from Bill Lockyer, one of her predecessors as California attorney general, without attribution.

 

And in a 2014 report on transnational gangs,she copied several sentences from Roger McDonough, a New York State judge, as well as McDonough’s footnotes.

 

The new examples add to the allegations of plagiarism published last week by conservative activist Christopher Rufo, which focused exclusively on Harris’s 2009 book Smart on Crime.

 

Experts who reviewed those allegations, including Jonathan Bailey of Plagiarism Today, argued that they comprised such a small portion of Harris’s work that sloppiness—not malice—seemed like the most plausible explanation for them, arguments that were quoted in the Washington Post and New York Times.

 

"You’d expect these to be more apparent throughout the book if this was malicious intent to plagiarize," Bailey told the Post. "Ultimately we’re talking about not very many words in a very long book, which to me means it’s more likely poor writing."

 

But a review of Harris’s oeuvre—including books, popular articles, congressional transcripts, and reports she authored as attorney general—found a more extensive pattern of plagiarism than has been previously reported. It spans five publications, including her sworn congressional testimony. And it comes after months of criticism, from both left and right, that the Harris campaign has few ideas of its own.

The plagiarism could become a potent symbol of that critique in the last days of a dead heat. In an article about Rufo’s allegations, the New York Times noted that "none of the passages in question took the ideas or thoughts of another writer."The new examples—in which Harris lifts pages of original material from other lawyers—undermine that defense and suggest that not all the passages were copied in error. Some contain tell-tale signs of intent, such as small tweaks in punctuation and the removal of minor details.

 

The symbolism could be especially resonant given that Logli, who has been donating to GOP candidates since 1994, is not the only Republican Harris has been accused of parroting.She endured a different sort of plagiarism scandal in August when she promised to eliminate taxes on tips—two months after her rival, Donald Trump, had promised to do the same.

 

"This was a TRUMP idea," Trump fumed on Truth Social at the time. "She has no ideas, she can only steal from me."

 

Also in August, J.D. Vance proposed boosting the Child Tax Credit from $2,000 to $5,000. Five days later, Harris proposed boosting the credit to $6,000as part of her economic plan. Vance joked that it was only a matter of time before she put on a red tie and promised to make America great again.

 

Harris, who in 2019 supported taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for detained migrants, has also promised to build a border wall. The copycat character of her candidacy has caused even progressives to wonder if Harris, who had one of the most liberal voting records in the Senate, is a reliable ally at a time when polls show the public shifting right on social issues.

 

"The obvious question is, who exactly is Kamala Harris?" asked Branko Maretic in Jacobin magazine. "That’s a question she herself may have trouble answering."

 

In absolute terms, the plagiarized content makes up a small fraction of Harris’s work. And she is far from the only politician, in either party, with a propensity for copy and pasting.

 

Joe Biden, Rand Paul, Melania Trump, and Ben Carson have each endured their own plagiarism scandals. Like Harris, Carson was even accused of plagiarizing in Congressional testimony, though that allegation only involved two paragraphs, not 1,200 words.

 

All of those scandals received sustained media attention and were at times framed as synecdoches for a candidate’s shortcomings. When the Trump campaign denied, in 2016, that Melania Trump had plagiarized two paragraphs from Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic convention speech, a Vox "explainer" said the denials were "a testament to Trump’s character."

 

The Harris campaign has likewise denied that the allegations published last week are anything to write home about. "Rightwing operatives are getting desperate as they see the bipartisan coalition of support Vice President Harris is building to win this election, as Trump retreats to a conservative echo chamber refusing to face questions about his lies," a campaign spokesman, James Singer, told media outlets last week. "This is a book that’s been out for 15 years, and the Vice President clearly cited sources and statistics in footnotes and endnotes throughout."

 

The Harris campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

It is not unheard of for plagiarism scandals to sink presidential campaigns. In 1987, Joe Biden withdrew from the Democratic Party primary after he plagiarized a British politician in his closing statement at a debate.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has called Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona the must-watch battleground states on election night, but the early returns now show trouble for his campaign in the aptly name Keystone State.

 

Trump's campaign rally mantra has been "too big to rig," seeking to run up the score to make a lead insurmountable. But Vice President Kamala Harris' early vote strength in Pennsylvania might be giving her a large cushion of votes going into Election Day on Nov. 5.

 

Trump beat Joe Biden on Election Day in 2020, only to find the win evaporate as mail-in ballots were counted. In his 2022 Senate race, Dr. Mehmet Oz handily won on Election Day against John Fetterman. But Fetterman had so many mail-in votes, he became the state's U.S. senator.

 

This year, close to 2 million mail-in ballots have been requested and nearly 1 million early Pennsylvania votes have already been cast. Bad news again for Republicans: These early votes come from an overwhelming majority of registered Democrat voters (64%), according to NBC News' early vote tracker Tuesday morning.

 

While these ballots are not actual votes for Kamala Harris, about 90% of Democratic registered ballots historically go to the party's candidate. Ditto for Republican ballots going to the GOP's candidate. So far, registered Republicans have cast just 27% of Pennsylvania's mail-in and early in-person votes to date. This number is up slightly from 2020 when 24% of ballots came from registered Republicans. Another 9% of ballots cast have come from those registered independent or with another party.

 

Some pundits argue that Pennsylvania, the largest of the seven battleground states, is absolutely critical for a Harris or Trump win in the Electoral College. Pennsylvania holds 19 electoral college votes with 270 needed to clinch the presidency.

 

The others key swing states are Arizona (11 electoral votes), Georgia (16), Michigan (16), Nevada (6), North Carolina (16), and Wisconsin (10%). Republicans' early vote ground game is doing better at getting registered Republican votes cast in other battleground states:

 

Arizona (385,000 votes cast): GOP 44%, Democrat 35%

Georgia (nearly 1.7 million): GOP 49%, Democrat 46%

Michigan (more than 1 million): Democrat 54%, GOP 36%

Nevada (247,000): Democrat 40%, GOP 35%

North Carolina (more than 1 million): Democrat 36%, GOP 33%

Wisconsin (326,000): Other 41%, Democrat 40%, GOP 19%

 

When asked last week at a Chicago economic forum which state is going to decide the election, Trump showed no hesitation in pointing to the Keystone State as the key to the election. "Pennsylvania, I would say mostly," he said.

 

While there have been 921,720 early votes already cast by mail and in-person in Pennsylvania, there have been 1,843,687 mail-in ballots requested.

 

If current trends continue, the Democrats will enter Election Day with about 1 million votes already secured.

 

Pennsylvania's early in-person voting began Sept. 16 and the deadline to register to vote was Monday, Oct. 21. There remains a week left of early in-person voting, which ends Oct. 29 — a week before the Nov. 5 Election Day.

 

Pennsylvania is considered a swing state, but in the past seven presidential elections there has not been much in the way of swinging. It has been a Democrat stronghold, with Trump's surprise 2016 win the only anomaly.

 

At the moment Trump leads the RealClearPolitics polling average in the state by 0.8% points — similar to the 0.7% margin he won by in 2016.

 

All of the polls in that data set are within the margin of error, making the race a virtual statistical tie as early voting continues in Pennsylvania, making voter turnout, and perhaps the early ballots, the likely deciding factor.

Venus atmosphere sample return noted in China’s long-term space science roadmap

China has unveiled a long-term roadmap to guide its space science programs up to 2050, including a mission to collect a sample of the Venusian atmosphere.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the China National Space Administration (CNSA), and the China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO) jointly announced the National Space Science Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan (2024-2050) in a press conference Oct. 15.

 

“China’s space science research is still in its infancy, with a relatively small number of space science satellites.

Some gaps need to be filled to become a space powerhouse,” Ding said. Ding Chibiao, CAS vice president said.

Goals include implementing national space science missions, strengthening basic research, building a high-level talent pool for space science, and making breakthrough achievements at the global level.

 

Three stages

The plan outlines five major scientific themes and 17 priority development directions.

Missions focusing on the extreme universe, the nature of matter, habitable planets, studying the Sun and space exploration will be implemented in three stages: up to 2027, 2028-2035, and 2036-2050.

 

The first phase (up to 2027) focuses on a number of known missions and projects.

These include launching a first crewed lunar mission by 2030, space station operations including a Hubble-class telescope, and initiating key scientific projects.

Also noted are a selection of large projects, such as a space gravitational wave detection pathfinder and a solar polar orbiter.

Small and medium class missions could include dark matter particle detection, a solar observatory at Sun-Earth L5 and exoplanet missions.

 

Five missions—Discovering Sky at the Longest Wavelength (DSL), Enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry (eXTP), Solar Polar Orbiter (SPO), Taiji-2 and Earth 2.0—are understood to be approved and in development.

These would search for signals in the cosmic dark ages, study objects such as black holes, study the Sun, detect gravitational waves and conduct long-term surveys for Earth-like habitable exoplanets respectively.

 

The second phase (2028–2035) aims for breakthroughs in advanced space missions, including the Tianwen-4 mission to Jupiter, solar system boundary exploration, the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS), and a Venus atmospheric sample return.

Further possibilities noted include asteroid exploration and exoplanet moon detection.

The final phase (2036–2050) targets global leadership in space science with 5-6 large-scale missions and diverse smaller projects.

 

Venus atmosphere sample return

The roadmap reveals a number of new plans. A Venus orbiter named VOICE was previously under consideration for selection for what is now the apparent first phase of the roadmap.

This has been replaced by a more ambitious Venus atmosphere sample return mission during phase two.

 

No details of the mission proposal were released.

For reference, a proposal from MIT in 2022 details a descent and deceleration into the Venusian atmosphere, the inflation of a balloon and sampling, and a Venus ascent vehicle delivering a sample canister into orbit for rendezvous with a waiting orbiter.

Such a mission, informed by recent studies of the Venusian atmosphere—some noting the potential biomarker phosphine—would likely focus on astrobiology: habitability and a potential search for life.

 

China is also working towards launching a Mars sample return mission in 2028. That will aim to deliver the first-ever samples to Earth by 2031, with a focus on astrobiology.

The wider program will be open to the outside in some form. “We will further promote various forms of international cooperation and exchanges in space science, so that the achievements of space science and technology can better and benefit humankind.”

Wang Chi, director of the National Space Science Center (NSSC) under CAS, said in the press conference.

China launches 3 Tianping-3 radar calibration satellites

China launched a trio of satellites late Monday for ground radar equipment calibration and other measurements.

A Long March 6 rocket lifted off from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, northern China, at 8:10 p.m. Eastern, Oct. 21 (0010 UTC, Oct. 22).

The state-owned Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST) announced launch success, revealing the payloads to be the Tianping-3A (01), B (01), and B (02) satellites.

 

The Tianping-3 mission is described in Chinese state media reports as a single satellite. However, as noted by SAST, three discrete satellites were launched.

“The satellite is mainly used for ground radar equipment calibration and radar cross section (RCS) measurement,” Chinese state media reported.

“It will provide support for ground optical equipment imaging experiments and low-orbit space environment detection and monitoring experiments, as well as offer services for atmospheric space environment measurement and orbit prediction model correction.”

 

No images or further information on the satellites was provided. The satellites could be used for purposes related to defense, weather forecasting, and scientific research.

These can help verify radar performance, calibration for target detection, weather radar calibration, space debris tracking, or tracking atmospheric phenomena.

 

Tianping-3 satellites can be used as benchmarks to compare and validate the measurements of ground-based radars, offering highly accurate measurements of their RCS.

The satellites may have corner reflectors or transponders on board to provide a strong and well-characterized signal to ground-based radars.

This signal helps in calibrating the radar’s performance, such as its power levels, antenna alignment, and other critical parameters.

 

SAST provided the Long March 6 rocket for the mission. The 29-meter-long, three-stage rocket uses a single YF-100 kerosene-liquid oxygen engine on its first stage.

The launcher is one of China’s new generation Long March rockets and had its first launch in 2015. The Long March 6 has launched 13 times, all successfully.

It bears little resemblance to the much larger Long March 6A, which features an elongated first stage, two first stage YF-100 engines, and four solid rocket boosters.

 

Chinese launch activity

Tuesday’s mission was China’s 50th orbital launch attempt of 2024.

It followed last week’s launch of the Gaofen-12 Earth observation satellite and a second group of 18 satellites for the Qianfan/Thousand megaconstellation.

China is preparing to send the Shenzhou-19 crewed mission to the Tiangong space station around the end of October.

The crew spacecraft atop of a Long March 2F rocket was rolled out to its pad at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Tuesday.

 

Three as yet unknown astronauts will join the Shenzhou-18 crew aboard Tiangong and take over residency of the space station.

The Tianzhou-8 cargo resupply mission is expected to follow in November, launching on a Long March 7 rocket from Wenchang.

The country appears to be falling well short of a target of 100 launches for the year, according to plans announced by China’s state-owned main space contractor CASC in early 2024.

Both CASC and the country’s commercial launch providers are launching at a slower rate than estimated.

"First, large Harris voter leads are being banked every day," said David Paleologos, director of Suffolk's Political Research Center. "Second, it gives the Harris campaign some time to persuade Election Day voters."

 

That would include appeals to "some previously reliable Democratic voters who have drifted away over the past few weeks, like young Black and Latino men," he added.

 

A third respondents said they plan to vote early – a group that supports Harris by 52%-39% – and nearly half said they will wait until Election Day.

 

The latest USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll of 1,000 likely voters was conducted Oct. 14-18 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

 

One in seven respondents said they had already voted, as some states have begun early mail-in and in-person voting.

CSO, CMSSF inspire newest Guardians, Airmen during BMT graduation week

U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman set high expectations for the graduating class of enlisted Guardians and Airmen during a Basic Military Training ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Oct. 17.

This marked the first time Saltzman has presided over a BMT graduation ceremony since becoming CSO.

He was joined by the Space Force’s most senior enlisted leader, Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force John Bentivegna.

 

On Oct. 15, Bentivegna aided in the new Guardian’s patching ceremony, a tradition unique to the Space Force.

The soon-to-be Guardians received their first Space Force patches to be worn on their uniform, which were previously worn by another active Guardian, to symbolize their shared connection to service.

These patches were delivered alongside hand-written notes from fellow Guardians that welcomed them to the U.S. Space Force.

 

The next day, Bentivegna joined the coining ceremony, where each graduate receives their first challenge coin, a tradition among service members to show unit pride and esprit de corps.

At the graduation, Saltzman spoke directly to the graduating Guardians and Airmen, beginning with delivering a special message to the families in attendance.

 

“It’s great to see all the families joining us today … Seven and a half weeks ago, you entrusted us with our nation’s most valuable treasure – your loved ones,” Saltzman said.

“Your support has pushed these Airmen and Guardians to complete their Basic Military Training and to join the world’s greatest Air Force and Space Force.”

Recognizing the families, Saltzman emphasized the importance of their support and how their Guardians and Airmen appreciated their encouragement.

He then turned his attention to the formations of new service members that filled the parade field.

 

“To the graduates; I am so proud to be standing here before you,” Saltzman said.

“You, who have stood up and answered the call to service … Each of you had a different reason for joining, but I think you’ll find that by the end of your time in service – whether it is just the initial commitment or a 30-plus year career – your memories will be more about the people you met along the journey, than the jobs you held.”

 

Saltzman emphasized that their transition from BMT to their services was only the first of many transformations they will go through.

He spoke about the changes both services are going through to address an era of Great Power Competition, noting how graduates will help drive that change.

“We expect you to meet the current threat but also to evolve and meet the future threat, too,” Saltzman said. “We expect you to be the innovators that recognize when change is needed and to have the courage to speak up and lead.

We expect you to be bold and collaborative problem solvers with the capacity to engage, analyze and debate new ideas … ideas that shift the status quo.”

 

Finally, Saltzman led the formation in their Oath of Enlistment, marking the beginning of their journey through the Space Force and Air Force enlisted ranks.

Since the Space Force’s creation in 2019, enlisted Guardians have trained alongside Airmen at BMT, and that partnership continues today.

While both services’ training lasts seven and a half weeks, future Space Force enlistees receive service-specific training curriculum to prepare them for the unique challenges Guardians face.

Mike Flynn, who advocated for the military to help "rerun" the 2020 election after former President Donald Trump lost reelection, according to a transcript of the testimony released by the committee this week.

In response, Milley said the Trump administration had wanted to recall and court-martial retired generals who were critical of Trump and that he recommended against that at the time and would make the same recommendation about Flynn.

"Mike Flynn is saying things and doing things that I absolutely fundamentally disagree with on so many levels. Bringing him back on active duty to court-martial him and subject him to crimes based on the Uniform Code of Military Justice is a giant step. I'm not saying it can't be done or shouldn't be done. I'm just saying that that would be a presidential decision," Milley said.

"Currently, and my advice to you as a member of Congress, or if the president were to ask me, I would say: Not yet, no. I don't think it rises to that level," he added. "I think that's a very serious thing, though, and it further politicizes. And I'm really concerned about politicizing the military."

Milley's 302-page transcript was part of a tranche of thousands of pages of underlying evidence the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol released before it officially shut down Tuesday with the end of the previous congressional session.

In its final report, the committee found that no one at the Pentagon deliberately delayed the National Guard's deployment to the Capitol after it was breached by Trump supporters. To reach that conclusion, investigators interviewed more than a dozen Pentagon and military officials past and present, mostly about the events of Jan. 6 and how the Pentagon's response to racial justice protests in summer 2020 informed their reaction that day, but also about the waning days of the Trump administration more broadly.

The idea of recalling Flynn to active duty to court-martial him or take other punitive action such as cutting his pension has been periodically raised by pundits.

In his interview with the Jan. 6 committee, Milley said the idea of recalling retired officers back to active duty to be court-martialed was raised by the Trump administration – not for Flynn, but for officers criticizing Trump.

"There was a couple of editorials written by retired flag officers that you would recognize their names that were very critical of then-President Trump, highly critical of President Trump," Milley said. "And there was actually discussions with me: Bring him back on active duty, court-martial him, you know, make him walk the plank sort of thing, right? I advised them not to do that, because that would further politicize, in my personal view. And I said, please give me a chance to calm the waters a little bit."

Milley cited several incidents in recent years, including Flynn speaking at the Republican National Convention and retired Gen. John Allen at the Democratic National Convention in 2016; Trump signing his Muslim travel ban at the Pentagon…

Milley also decried critics who have made him a "lightning rod for politicization of the military," saying he and Austin are "constantly strung out" by conservative lawmakers and media that also "smear" other military leaders.

"I think it's fundamental to the health of the republic that we have an apolitical military," Milley said. "And apolitical means nonpartisan, neither Democrat nor Republican, and we execute the lawful orders of the civilian leadership that's appointed over us. The key is 'lawful' orders, and therein lie some judgment calls.

Chairman Schiff said Flynn was a "high-quality intelligence officer who served his country honorably and served it well in peace and war" when he was in the military but demurred on his opinion of Flynn now.

"The Michael Flynn that I see? I'll just reserve comment," Milley said. "But I can tell you that comments like what he said, I think those comments are absolutely fundamentally wrong, and they run at cross-purposes to the oath of office about protecting and defending the Constitution. The United States military doesn't go out to polling stations and start counting votes. We don't do that, period."

Illinois Couple Chased by Rectangular UFO Then it Zoomed Upward

A couple in Illinois had a strange encounter on a highway a week ago.

They noticed something was following them and then witnessed it zooming straight upward into the sky.

 

I saw this brand new report on the National UFO Reporting Center website that was just shared on October 12, 2024.

They said this strange encounter happened when they were driving from Champaign, Illinois toward Indiana.

It was near Urbana that they noticed something odd behind them. Here are the exact words of their eyewitness testimony:

 

"It was hovering then shot up and disappeared. My husband and I were driving from champaign Illinois toward Indiana and my husband said "what is that behind us?"

When I turned around I seen a dark gray rectangle hoovering. We looked at it for about 2 minutes and it just stayed in one place then it started to move upward and then disappeared."

 

The details of the report they submitted show that whatever the object was got within a mile of them and was very large.

It appeared at about a 45 degree angle. The entire encounter only lasted a couple of minutes, but was significant enough that they felt like they should submit an official report.

 

Normally, it's easy to dismiss an incident like this as a mistaken conventional plane or weather detection object or even planet or meteor.

In this instance, whatever appeared between Champaign and Urbana, Illinois doesn't match up with any of those things.

In August, the same poll found that Harris was ahead of Trump 48% to 43% on the heels of the Democratic National Convention. The new survey released Monday questioned 1,000 likely voters by landline and cell phone from Oct. 14-18. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.Harris has fallen back in support among Latino and Black voters in the seven weeks between surveys. The new poll found Latino voters now back Trump by 49% to 38%. Black voters prefer Harris by 72% to 17%, but that 55-point edge is significantly less than the advantage Democrats traditionally enjoy.

For the subsamples of Latino and Black voters, the survey's margins of error are plus or minus 9 points, signaling possible repositioning of up to 18 points in one direction or the other. President Biden benefited from staggering support from Black and Latino voters four years ago. A Pew Research Center analysis found 92% of Black voters and 59% of Latino voters supported Biden in the 2020 race.

Trump has made inroads among Black and Latino voters in the 2024 race by courting men, as he campaigns on the economy and crime.

Observing the shift in Democrats' traditional edge, the Harris campaign unveiled an economic agenda for Black men last week. It promised small business loans and the legalization of recreational marijuana. Her campaign also ramped up events targeting Latino and Black voters in battleground states, and former President Barack Obama chastised Black men, claiming they could be hesitant to vote for a woman as president. In a separate poll conducted across seven battleground states, 47% of respondents said they would definitely or probably back Harris, while 47% said they would definitely or probably support Trump. This Texas Cemetery Is Home To A Space Alien

Once upon a time, long before Roswell had its day in the UFO spotlight, there was a little town called Aurora, Texas.

In 1897, Aurora was the it place for an out-of-this-world experience, literally.

According to a Dallas Morning News article from April 19, 1897, a “mystery airship” (UFO, but make it vintage) came tumbling out of the sky. Its final resting place?

Right through the poor Judge J.S. Proctor’s windmill, smashing his prized flower garden in the process. Talk about a rough landing.

 

The alien pilot, described as “petite” and very Martian, didn’t make it out of the crash alive, which might explain why we never got a sequel.

Being the hospitable folks they were, the locals gave our extraterrestrial visitor a full-on Christian burial under a tree branch in the town cemetery.

They even placed a headstone with a “crude” depiction of the alien’s ship. Unfortunately, the headstone went the way of all great mysteries—missing.

But don’t worry, UFO hunters are still begging the town to dig up the grave, though so far, nobody’s handed over the shovels.

 

Today, the headstone is long gone, probably swiped by some alien memorabilia collector, but there’s still a Texas historical marker at the cemetery mentioning our friendly neighborhood Martian.

If you're looking for the “grave,” a large rock marks the spot. It’s covered with trinkets left by UFO enthusiasts, because if you can’t dig up a Martian, you might as well leave a keychain.

 

So next time you're in Aurora, skip the flower gardens and windmills, and take a moment to say hi to the one visitor who’s traveled the farthest to crash land in small-town Texas history.

'Aliens have two bases on Earth' says lawyer who claims to know their locations

A lawyer known for disclosing details of UFOs and alien visits claims to know the location of two alien bases on Earth.

Danny Sheehan has been involved in bringing UFO whistleblowers to the United States Congress in recent years.

He has been helping to provide explosive evidence of alleged government cover-ups regarding real encounters with extraterrestrial beings.

 

And during a new interview, a clip of which has gone viral on social media site Reddit, Sheehan has dropped another bombshell about the location of alien bases on Earth.

He said: “(There are) bases here, on our planet. Many of which are located high in the desolate areas in the mountains where very few people ever go, and beneath the sea.

There's a major base in the Pacific that we're virtually certain exists off Baja – between Baja and Guadeloupe Island.

 

“Potentially beneath the ocean floor, it's been monitored and we have potentially hundreds of videos of vehicles coming and going from that location and plunging into the sea and going down into, and coming from that base.

“There are some . . . inside our national security state apparatus that knows this to be true.

And they are in fact, engaged at the present time . . . attempting to shoot down these UFOs . . . and taking captive the members who pilot those craft. It is an extraordinarily dangerous situation.”

 

The full talk was posted by the New Paradigm Institute on social media for “Global Discourse Day 2024” on Sunday.

He went on to claim that the “UFO phenomenon is real” and that it wasn't someone mistaking it for a bird or some other kind of technology in the form of a “secret government programme”.

And shockingly, he said: “They are transporting organic live beings from some other planet in our galaxy, or from some other dimension . . . they are coming and going from our planet and have been for some time.”

Pentagon suspects employee of Iranian origin in Israeli strike plan leak – report

Last week, two US intelligence documents reportedly disclosing Israel's plan for a potential retaliatory attack on Iran were leaked.

The Pentagon has reportedly named Chief of Staff of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations, Ariane Tabatabai, as the prime suspect for an alleged leak of classified documents, Sky News Arabia reported on Tuesday, citing a senior Pentagon official.

 

Tabatabai, an American of Iranian origin,is also an officer in US Naval Intelligence.

 

According to the report, members ofCongress wrote a letter in 2023to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin against keeping Tabatabai in her position.

 

The members of Congressurged Secretary Austin to “immediately suspend Tabatabai’s security clearance pending further review, as the State Department did with his former supervisor, Robert Malley," the report stated.

 

The FBI has also begun investigating the leak of a pair of highly classified intelligence documents describing Israel's preparations for a retaliatory strike on Iran, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

 

"The FBI is investigating the alleged leak of classified documents and working closely with our partners in the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community," the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a statement cited by the Washington Post. “As this is an ongoing investigation, we have no further comment,” the statement further read.

 

Last week, two US intelligence documents reportedly disclosing Israel's plan for a potential retaliatory attack on Iran were leaked and disseminated on a Telegram channel.

 

The channel claimed it had received the documents via a source within the US intelligence community.

Meadows has remained largely below the radar since Trump left office in 2021, resisting an appearance before the House Jan. 6 select committee even as he turned over text messages that became a roadmap for the panel’s investigation. The former Republican congressman from North Carolina was a ubiquitous presence as Trump sought to subvert the 2020 election, coordinating messages with the campaign, state officials and the RNC. He was ultimately charged in Georgia by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for his involvement in Trump’s effort to flip the outcome in the state.

 

Meadows was a participant in a phone call between Trump and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which the then-president asked election officials to “find” just enough votes to reverse his defeat. South Korea Mulls Sending Artillery Shells To Ukraine, Angry On Reports Of DPRK Troops There

 

South Korea has largely stayed on the sidelines for more than two years of the Ukraine-Russia war, but is increasingly getting vocal with new allegations that North Korea is sending troops to fight in Ukraine on Russia's behalf.

 

Seoul's "answer" to the north might be to weaponize the other side, by providing 155mm artillery shells to Ukraine. So far this has only allegedly been done indirectly, by routing the shells to the United States. Seoul has called the presence of DPRK troops in Ukraine a "serious security threat" to the international community, and demanded that Pyongyang withdraw them immediately. South Korean media is also reporting that Seoul could send intelligence advisers to assist the Ukrainian military.

 

First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun has reportedly summoned Russian Ambassador to South Korea Georgy Zinoviev to express Seoul's concerns over the alleged DPRK troop movements.

 

He warned his Russian counterpart that any military collaboration between Moscow and Pyongyang could destabilize the Korean Peninsula and would mark a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

 

"South Korea will respond with every possible means, alongside the international community, to any acts that threaten our core security interests," Kim stated. The Russian side has downplayed the warnings, and conveyed that its view of who it is that contributes to destabilizing the Korean peninsula is different.

 

A defense source has pointed out that if Seoul decided to supply Ukraine with artillery shells, significant legal and bureaucratic hurdles would remain in the way:

 

South Korea’s Defense Procurement Act and Foreign Trade Act currently prohibit the transfer of arms and ammunition to Ukraine, either directly or through third parties. Both laws would need to be amended for the delivery of 155mm shells to be possible.

 

This development marks another chapter in South Korea’s internal debate on whether to support Ukraine militarily, which was first discussed in July 2023 and again in April 2022. However, despite this consideration, the likelihood of an immediate shift remains unclear as Ukraine continues to await the delivery of K600 mine-clearing tanks, which South Korea had previously pledged.

Abu Abdul Qader has been killed along with eight other senior IS leaders, according to the Iraqi prime minister

 

The announcement confirms a statement on the killing of Jassim Al-Mazrouei, also known as Abu Abdul Qader, issued by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) late last week.

Germany detects first case of new mpox variant

 

The World Health Organization previously declared the infection a global public health emergency

 

Germany has reported its first case of a new mpox variant, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for public health. The health authority stressed that the risk to the wider population remains low.

 

A surge of cases of the viral illness appeared in several African nations in August, primarily in the Democratic Republic of Congo, prompting the World Health Organization to declare mpox a public health emergency of international concern.

 

While cases of two variants of the virus have since been reported in over 120 countries according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, a particularly concerning variant dubbed clade 1b has so far only been identified in a handful of countries outside the DR Congo, including India, Thailand, and Sweden.

 

The WHO has described clade 1b as more contagious and more dangerous than previous variants, but public health experts have said that there is still too little reliable data to support the claim.

 

In a statement on Tuesday, RKI announced that the new variant of the virus had been detected for the first time in Germany on October 18, noting that the patient had acquired the infection abroad. The institute also pointed out that close physical contact was required for transmission.

 

Nevertheless, the health authority stressed that it “currently considers the risk to the health of the general population in Germany to be low,” and stated that it will continue to monitor the situation and adapt its assessment if needed.

INVASION: Over 30% of Cameras at US-Mexico Border Do Not Work

 

CBP says it is running blind at the southern border, with at least 150 surveillance cameras rendered 'inoperable.'

 

At least thirty percent of the Border Patrol’s cameras focused along the US-Mexico border are not functioning, according to a FaceBook memo posted by the National Border Patrol Council Local 2455.

“USBP HQ is aware that many camera towers along the borders are inoperable, and they are currently ‘working’ on fixing the issue,” wrote Local 2455 president Hector Garza on October 11. He continued:

 

News reported that the outage consists of almost 150 of the 500 cameras on roughly 300 surveillance towers monitoring the US southern border. The outlet claimed CBP officials pointed toward “outdated equipment and outstanding repair issues.”

 

The surveillance system, known as Remote Video Surveillance Systems, has been in place since 2011 to “survey large areas without having to commit hundreds of agents,” read the NBC News report. CBP officials told the outlet that repairs have been made this month, but there are over 150 inquiries for other camera repairs. The Border Patrol also insisted to NBC News that there is broken visibility at the border due to the lack of functioning cameras.

 

CBP continues to install newer, more advanced technology that embrace artificial intelligence and machine learning to replace outdated systems, reducing the need to have agents working non-interdiction functions.

 

Strangely, the problem is reportedly not solely with the Border Patrol but rather with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), according to NBC News. The FAA, which repairs the monitoring systems and cameras, has had “internal problems meeting the needs of the Border Patrol.”

 

The original memo obtained by NBC News indicates that the FAA will be sending assistance for the cameras and that the Border Patrol is considering replacing the FAA with “adequate technical support for the cameras.”

10 Different Analyses Confirm Huge Covid ‘Vaccine’ Deaths

 

Ten individual analyses, all using different methods, have now confirmed that Covid mRNA “vaccines” have caused alarming numbers of deaths.

 

The analyses were compiled by data expert and MIT scientist Steve Kirsch, the founder of the Vaccine Safety Research Foundation (VSRF).

 

Kirsch warns that the analyses prove that the “vaccines” were actually far more dangerous than the virus they were supposedly meant to tackle.

 

According to the multiple methods complied by Kirsch, the lowest Covid injection death toll is estimated to be above 200,000.

VAERS: 120,000 + 70,000 = 190,000 deaths minimum.

 

Doctors interviewed by Kirsch: Estimates came in consistently at 4 to 5 per 1,000 vaccinated. Since there are 270M Americans who got the shot, this predicts 1.1M deaths.

 

Survey of medical practices: 3 per 1,000 vaccinated by excluding sites claiming 1% or more death rates. This predicts 810,000 deaths.

 

Paramedic survey (9 responses): If we ignore all the high reports, the average of the five remaining reporting 5 or fewer Covid vaccine deaths was 2.5. Since there are 100,000 paramedics, this suggests that 250,000 deaths would be a conservative estimate. Ignoring the largest two reports as outliers, the average was 6 suggesting that as many as 600,000 deaths is a ballpark estimate of the true number.

With just two weeks until Election Day, Kamala is spending the day… in hiding. The only event on her public schedule is pre-taping two brief softball interviews, which won't even take place until late afternoon.

 

Her retreat continues tomorrow, when she'll spend the entire day holed away preparing for a CNN town hall that doesn't begin until 9:00 PM ET.

 

Kamala is clearly exhausted. The rigors of campaigning — especially as an installed nominee with zero votes cast in her name — are taking their toll.

 

It's not just her — exhaustion is afflicting her entire campaign:

 

Tim Walz, during his lone event on Sunday, admitted he and Kamala are "fatigued" from campaigning.

Gwen Walz canceled a planned trip to Maine without explanation.

Kamala rebuffed repeated interview requests from a local Pittsburgh TV station (a request of which President Trump was happy to oblige).

To be fair, it's not easy keeping up with President Trump and Senator Vance, who have each held multiple daily events across the swing states — and whose schedules will continue that way until the election as they take their closing argument directly to voters.

 

But Americans need a commander-in-chief who they can count on to lead with strength and agility — not weakness and incompetence.

 

That's why President Trump — the best closer in politics — will be re-elected in November.

Israeli Ministers Call for Expulsion of Palestinians at ‘Resettle Gaza’ Conference

 

The conference was organized by a settler organization and members of Prime Minister Netanyahu's Likud party

 

On Monday, Israeli Knesset members and senior government ministers attended a conference on re-establishing Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip that was held in southern Israel near the Gaza border.

 

The conference, titled “Preparing to Resettle Gaza,” was organized by the Israeli settler organization Nachala and members of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party.

 

At least ten out of the 32 Likud party members in the Israeli Knesset were set to attend the conference, including May Golan, who is in Netanyahu’s government as the minister for Social Equality and the Advancement of the Status of Women.

 

In a speech at the rally, which drew hundreds of attendees, Golan vowed Palestinians in Gaza would face another “Nakba,” referring to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian Arabs when the modern state of Israel was formed in 1948.

 

“We will hit them where it hurts – their land,” Golan said, according to Haaretz. “Anyone who uses their plot of land to plan another Holocaust will receive from us, with God’s help, another Nakba that they will tell their children and their grandchildren about for the next 50 years.”

 

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, leader of the Jewish Power party, also delivered a speech at the conference, and he received a very warm welcome. Haaretz reported that attendees broke out in chants of “Look over here, it’s our next Prime Minister” and “Death penalty for terrorists,” referring to Ben Gvir’s calls to execute Palestinian prisoners to make room in Israeli prisons.

 

In his speech, Ben Gvir said, “We will encourage the voluntary transfer of all Gazan citizens. We will offer them the opportunity to move to other countries because that land belongs to us.”

 

Ben Gvir and other proponents of conquering Gaza have framed their idea as “voluntary” for the Palestinians, but the Israeli military campaign has made most of Gaza uninhabitable. Palestinians in northern Gaza are currently facing Israeli evacuation orders to move to the south under the threat of death by military action or starvation.

 

Other Israeli ministers who attended the conference include Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Yitzhak Wasserlauf, the minister for the development of the Negev and Galilee.

Republicans are casting early ballots in record numbers and that's because they're "learning for the first time to go vote and go early" to improve their chances of winning, Sen. Tommy Tuberville said on Newsmax Tuesday.

 

"We haven't done that in the past," the Alabama Republican told "Wake Up America." "We've been [turning out] for a day of voting on a Tuesday and trying to cram it all in."

 

But now, he added, "you're seeing record turnouts for Republicans right now, especially in the South, and we've been keeping up with it."

 

Data from the University of Florida's Election Lab shows that nearly 18 million Americans have voted early as of Tuesday, and while Democrats continue to outpace Republicans in early voting, the numbers with Republicans are also growing.

 

"It's something new for us," Tuberville said. "But hey, if they're going to do it, let's do it, and let's do it the right way, and don't be left out in the cold like we have been over the last couple of times."

 

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice has filed suit against Alabama over its voting laws after efforts to clear the voting rolls of non-citizens, and Tuberville said the move is "all a plan" to "keep everybody in turmoil."

 

"We are getting sued, obviously from Merrick Garland, the attorney general of the United States," said Tuberville. "He's a Democrat."

 

But the plan won't work, he added.

 

"Alabama obviously will be a Donald Trump state," said Tuberville. "There's no problem there. But we have to make sure that we have congressional seats covered because our representatives run every two years. I'm not up this year. [GOP Sen.] Katie Britt is not up this year. But our representatives are and we want to make sure we turn out strong."

 

At the same time, "Democrats are trying to do everything they possibly can to keep Republicans from voting," he said.

 

Tuberville also commented on Vice President Kamala Harris' choosing to prepare for an upcoming NBC interview rather than being out campaigning like Trump.

 

"I think they're just trying to keep her off-camera," he said. "She's been a disaster. Her poll numbers keep going down. Donald Trump is the Energizer bunny. I mean, he does not quit. I mean, he keeps going and going and going … he sleeps 2 or 3 hours a night, but he loves what he's doing. He loves the country. He's our only chance. We can't lose this."

 

Trump, he added, will "get us out of the wars. He will get us back to spending the right way."

 

The United States must "get an identity back," said Tuberville.

 

"We don't have an identity and the Democrats are all to blame for it because they pushed all this agenda that is totally nonsense," he said.

 

Meanwhile, Tuberville said that if he were advising Trump, he'd remind him to focus on education.

 

"We've got to get back to educating our kids instead of indoctrinating our kids all across the country," said Tuberville.

 

The economy is also vital, he added.

 

"We've got to get prices back down," he said. "We've got to start drilling for oil. We've got to open our spigots up and, and give the American people a chance right now."

Meta's Israel Policy Chief Pushed to Censor Pro-Palestine Content, Internal Docs Reveal

 

Jordana Cutler, a long-time senior Israeli government official who advised Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud party, was hired by Meta to be their "Jewish Diaspora" policy chief and uses her position to "demand censorship of Israel's critics."

A former senior Israeli government official now working as Meta's Israel policy chief personally pushed for the censorship of Instagram accounts belonging to Students for Justice in Palestine – a group that has played a leading role in organizing campus protests against Israel's ongoing war in Gaza.

 

Internal policy discussions reviewed by The Intercept show Jordana Cutler, Meta's Israel & the Jewish Diaspora policy chief, used the company's content escalation channels to flag for review at least four SJP posts, as well as other content expressing stances contrary to Israel's foreign policy. When flagging SJP posts, Cutler repeatedly invoked Meta's Dangerous Organizations and Individuals policy, which bars users from freely discussing a secret list of thousands of blacklisted entities. The Dangerous Organizations policy restricts "glorification" of those on the blacklist, but is supposed to allow for "social and political discourse" and "commentary."

 

It's unclear if Cutler's attempts to use Meta's internal censorship system were successful; the company declined to say what ultimately happened to posts that Cutler flagged. It's not Cutler's decision whether flagged content is ultimately censored; another team is responsible for moderation decisions. But experts who spoke to The Intercept expressed alarm over a senior employee tasked with representing the interests of any government advocating for restricting user content that runs contrary to those interests.

Meta banned the Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine from Instagram in August.

Lever said that The Intercept's line of questioning "deliberately misrepresents how our processes work," but declined to say how so.

Cutler joined Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, in 2016 after years of high-level work in the Israeli government. Her resume includes several years at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., where she worked in public affairs and as its chief of staff from 2013 to 2016, as well as a stint as a campaign adviser for the right-wing Likud party and nearly five years as an adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Upon her hiring in 2016, Gilad Erdan, then minister of public security, strategic affairs and information, celebrated the move, saying it marked "an advance in dialogue between the State of Israel and Facebook."

 

In interviews about her job, Cutler has stated explicitly that she acts as a liaison between Meta and the Israeli government, whose perspectives she represents inside the company.

 

In 2017, Cutler told the Israeli business outlet Calcalist that Facebook works "very closely with the cyber departments of the Ministry of Justice and the police and with other elements in the army and Shin Bet," Israel's domestic intelligence agency, on matters of content removal. "We are not the experts, they are in the field, this is their field."
