Acting DC US Attorney Ed Martin launches Investigation Into Threats Against DOGE Workers – Reveals Schumer is Target of Probe

 

Acting US Attorney for DC Ed Martin launched an investigation into threats against DOGE workers on Wednesday and revealed Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer as the target.

 

Earlier this month Ed Martin announced his office would be charging and arresting individuals who threatened Elon Musk’s DOGE team.

 

“Our initial review of the evidence presented to us indicates that certain individuals and/or groups have committed acts that appear to violate the law in targeting DOGE employees,” Ed Martin said.

 

“We are in contact with the FBI and other law-enforcement partners to proceed rapidly. We also have our prosecutors preparing,” Ed Martin added.

Ed Martin said his investigation on Wednesday was launched after he spoke to a DOGE worker last night about the ongoing threats.

 

“Late last night I took a call from a senior DOGE staffer. We spoke about some pressing tech issues and then he told me about threats against DOGE workers. It is despicable that these men and women are being threatened,” Ed Martin said in an email reviewed by Reuters.

 

Ed Martin named the investigation “Operation Whirlwind” after Schumer’s threats to conservative Supreme Court justices.

Last month The Gateway Pundit reported the Department of Justice opened an investigation into Chuck Schumer for threatening Supreme Court justices during a pro-abortion rally back in 2020.

 

Chuck Schumer previously threatened conservative Supreme Court justices when he shouted, “You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price.” He continued, “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

 

“At this time, I respectfully request that you clarify your comments from March 4, 2020. Your comments were at a private rally off the campus of the U.S. Capitol. You made them clearly and in a way that many found threatening,” Martin’s letter states

 

Ed Martin said Chuck Schumer has not responded to him.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The top U.S. prosecutor in Washington launched an investigation on Wednesday into threats against federal workers - and named Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer as a target of the probe - after people working in Elon Musk's drive to downsize and overhaul the government said they had been threatened.

 

Interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin said in an email seen by Reuters that the probe was inspired by a conversation with an employee of billionaire Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE - an entity created by Republican President Donald Trump.

 

DOGE has triggered a wave of layoffs across the federal government.

 

"Late last night I took a call from a senior DOGE staffer. We spoke about some pressing tech issues and then he told me about threats against DOGE workers. It is despicable that these men and women are being threatened," Martin said in the email.

 

Martin named the initiative "Operation Whirlwind," saying that Schumer, the top Democrat in the Republican-led U.S. Senate, is the subject of a threats investigation. Schumer spoke out against Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh at a 2020 abortion rights rally by saying: "You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price."

 

="I reached out to Senator Schumer to investigate his threats," Martin said. "He has not yet responded to me."

 

A Schumer representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

 

Martin this month announced on social media that he was launching a criminal investigation based on a referral from Musk alleging government workers were stealing property and making threats. His post on Musk's X platform ran afoul of numerous Justice Department rules governing the use of social media and prohibitions against publicly discussing sensitive non-public information.

 

Prior to being nominated by Trump as U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Martin vocally advocated for the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, in a failed bid to prevent Congress from certifying Democrat Joe Biden's 2020 election victory over Trump. Trump last month gave clemency to about 1,600 people charged in the riot.

 

On Tuesday,the top prosecutor in Martin's office overseeing criminal cases resigned after she said Martin pressured her to investigate a contract awarded during President Joe Biden's tenure and freeze the assets of the contract's recipient, even though there was not enough evidence to do so.

 

In his email on Wednesday, Martin said that his office has been "flooded with threats against those who helped free the January 6 prisoners."

 

However, Martin failed to mention the threats that federal prosecutors, FBI agents and judges are continuing to receive online from January 6 defendants after Trump granted them clemency on his first day back in office.

Kamala Harris has signed with a Hollywood talent agency after losing her presidential bid to President Donald Trump.

 

The Creative Artists Agency (CAA) announced on Tuesday that it will represent Harris “in all areas, focusing on speaking engagements and publishing.”

 

The CAA also represents Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.

 

“CAA will work closely with Harris on her post-White House initiatives, creating strategic opportunities that expand her platform in support of the issues she has championed throughout her decades-long career in public service,” the talent agency said in a statement.

 

Harris was previously represented by the Los Angeles-based agency while serving as a California senator.

 

The agency is very liberal and frequently pushes for DEI hiring.

Feds Ignore Illegal Alien Social Security ID Theft Plaguing Americans as U.S. Coffers Fill

 

The historic surge of illegal immigrants across America’s southern border is fueling a hidden crime spree few in Washington seem willing or able to address: widespread identity theft victimizing unwitting Americans perpetrated by migrants who need U.S. credentials to work.

 

An extensive review of government reports, think-tank research, news accounts, and interviews with policymakers and scholars suggests the problem involves millions of people – though measuring it with precision is difficult because of the lack of data provided by authorities.

 

A telling indication of the scope of the criminality is provided by a little-known government accounting book, the Social Security Administration’s Earnings Suspense File (ESF). It reflects the earnings of employees whose W-2 wage and tax statements have names and Social Security numbers that do not match official records. The total logged in the file has increased tenfold from $188.9 billion at the dawn of the millennium to $1.9 trillion in 2021.

 

Officials have historically ascribed a "high proportion" of the file’s growth to wages reported by illegal immigrants, and it has swelled alongside their population, which stands at a conservatively estimated 11.5 million today, 7 million of whom are employed. Among those doing so on the books, federal authorities have found that well over 1 million are using Social Security numbers belonging to someone else – i.e. stolen or "shared" with a relative or acquaintance – or numbers that are fabricated.

 

The data held in the ESF would enable authorities to pursue many of the fraudsters, but the IRS and other agencies responsible for enforcing the law have been reluctant to investigate, and regulations have prevented meaningful information-sharing among them.

 

This identity-related crime is providing a windfall for the U.S. government. A 2017 study from the conservative Federation for American Immigration Reform found that the federal government collects about $22 billion annually in tax receipts from illegal aliens, with the bulk going toward Social Security ($12.6 billion) and Medicare ($5.9 billion) – programs from which noncitizens are ineligible to receive benefits. FAIR estimated that illegal migrants also paid $3.3 billion in federal income tax – a smaller proportion primarily due to illegal aliens’ lower wage levels – and another $1 billion in state income taxes.

 

In other words, the fraud has the effect of bolstering financially shaky federal programs. In one of the agency’s rare direct statements on the issue, Social Security Administration Chief Actuary Stephen Goss told CNN in 2014 that without "undocumented immigrants paying into the system, Social Security would have entered persistent shortfall of tax revenue to cover payouts starting in 2009." Leading progressive Rep. Pramila Jayapal echoed this observation in 2018, arguing that a "complication of [then-president] Trump’s plans to limit immigration is the effect to our Social Security Earnings Suspense File – money that keeps our Social Security system afloat," including money provided by "undocume

Hui Zhang of Harvard’s Belfer Center downplayed China’s Underground Great Wall and explained it was only “defensive in nature.”

 

Prior to the Underground Great Wall, the People’s Liberation Army Navy built a large underground submarine base on Hainan Island that is still being expanded and improved.

 

The new command center in Beijing is described by online media BulgarianMilitary.com as a “command-and-control center for the PLA in wartime.“ The report notes that ”the site’s sheer scale, combined with its underground elements, points to a design built for survival,“ and ”experts believe that the complex will feature a series of underground nodes, perhaps even a hidden subway system, all interconnected by subterranean passageways.”

 

When completed, this facility—now dubbed the “Beijing Military City” by Western military analysts—will be the largest underground command center in the world, possibly in history.

 

Western Equivalents Are Limited in Comparison

Zhang of the Belfer Center described the Beijing Military City as defensive in nature. That is one viewpoint but should also be measured and compared in terms of equivalency in the West. The challenge is that there is little equivalency in the West in modern times.

 

There are underground facilities dating back to the Cold War days in the West, but most have been decommissioned. Canada’s “Diefenbunker” in Ottawa is a museum and tourist attraction. In the UK, there was the Central Government War Headquarters (CGWHQ), close to Bristol, about 100 miles due west of London, which could accept about 4,000 to 5,000 essential personnel for the Continuity of Government (COG).

 

In the United States, there was The Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia, where, at one time, Congress would relocate to in case of conflict; it is now a museum with a gift shop. The Pentagon contains the existing National Military Command Center, which is in the above-ground basement, but also has a backup at Raven Rock and air and ground mobile alternate command posts. The White House has an alternate facility for COG, if necessary.

 

Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska, has an underground facility that is being rebuilt due to a flood in 2019 that damaged part of the facility. The vaunted and historic Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado Springs, Colorado, was essentially closed around 2005 but was reopened beginning in 2015 as a backup for the above-ground facilities below at Peterson Air Force Base.

 

Most of the Cold War facilities in the West closed because there was a perception there was no compelling reason to keep them open, along with the enormous maintenance costs to keep them operational. The reality is that all of these Western facilities, whether they are active or museum pieces, would fill up only a small portion of the operational side of the underground Beijing Military City currently under construction.

Tehran will no doubt see this as a threat aimed at the Islamic Republic, given Trump's recent words saying the Iranians should negotiate a new deal to end their nuclear program, or else potentially face American bombs. The Houthis could also come under attack, given they are threatening to start up Red Sea shipping attacks if the Gaza ceasefire collapses.

 

The provocative bomber exercise and flyover of the region also comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio was in Israel Sunday. Prime Minister Netanyahu during that visit urged a muscular anti-Iran policy by Washington, after Trump restored 'maximum sanctions'.

 

Importantly, Netanyahu declared that Israel and the US should "finish the job" against Iran. Israeli officials have frequently floated the idea of preemptive attack against Tehran and nuclear facilities.

 

Iran has meanwhile said it won't respond to such threats, and has described that even if it wanted a deal, it can no longer trust Washington given it agreed to the JCPOA nuclear deal under Obama, and then Trump pulled out of it in 2018.
