Teddi Mellencamp Had ‘Very Different’ COVID-19 Experience Compared to Unvaccinated Husband

“He has since realized what a big mistake that was.”

 

Teddi Mellencamp revealed that she and her husband Edwin Arroyave had COVID-19 “a while back.”

She was vaccinated while Arroyave was not, “which he has since realized what a big mistake that was,” she explained.

However, one of Mellencamp’s strongest symptoms was a “lingering dizzy feeling” that has continued to creep up after recovery.

 

I learned a lot of things in the process, I was vaccinated and my husband was not, which he has since realized what a big mistake that was,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum explained. “In his mind he was like, ‘Well you’re vaccinated so we’re good. I’m staying in the house.’ He had a lot of those justifications that I know a lot of people out there have but what ended up happening is we both had COVID and we both had to quarantine from our family.”

 

The 40-year-old added that she “got through it quicker,” and was only down for six days as opposed to Arroyave’s 15. But even then, she said it was not an easy ride.

 

“[It was a] total mind game. Some days you think that you’re good and the next day you’re having these intense sweats,” she recounted. “It was so many different things and it was really a great reminder to get vaccinated. If people are saying ‘Wear a mask,’ then wear a mask. Do whatever you can because I can say how extremely difficult it was to not be around my kids.”

 

One of Mellencamp’s strongest symptoms was a “lingering dizzy feeling” that has continued to creep up after recovery. “I would feel like I was laying on a waterbed and when I would get up I would feel dizzy,” she explained.

 

She tried to think nothing of it until she recently fainted after jumping out of bed to tend to her daughter in the middle of the night. The fall left her with a busted lip and bruised face, which she shared pictures of on Instagram.

 

“I jumped up fast and ran into the room and by the time I got there I couldn’t even get my bearings. My eyes went black and I fainted," she recounted on the podcast. “I then tried to quickly pull myself up, which I have since found out is something you’re not supposed to do. When I did that is when I really fell hard and crashed into my lip.”

 

Since the accident, the mom of three has worked with doctors to navigate the best next steps. “It was a really scary experience. I still felt really foggy and just not like myself ever since,” she said.

“But I am one of those people that when something happens, I am diligent about wanting to understand why it happened.”

FBI Director Kash Patel is tackling China's influence on American farmlands head-on, as both a food supply and national security concern.

 

Patel’s early focus on Chinese influence over American land — particularly farmland near sensitive sites — reflects a broader second-term push by the Trump administration to confront the Chinese Communist Party’s presence on U.S. soil. The effort has gained traction among Republican lawmakers and conservative allies, who say CCP-connected land ownership poses a direct threat to national security and critical infrastructure.

 

"FBI Director Kash Patel has made eradicating CCP interference and infiltration in the United States a relentless, uncompromising priority," Patel advisor Erica Knight told Fox News Digital.

 

"With his unmatched experience in counterterrorism and intelligence, Patel possesses a profound understanding of the grave threats our nation faces," Knight said. "His expertise and unwavering resolve make him uniquely equipped to lead the bureau to crush CCP infiltration and safeguard America’s national security."

 

Patel recently told lawmakers that the "effective resolution" of the southern border crisis has prompted adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran to shift their focus to the U.S. northern border.

 

As the administration ramps up its second-term focus on China, President Donald Trump was asked aboard Air Force One on Thursday what the White House is doing about Chinese-owned farmland.

 

Trump said he is "looking at it all the time," adding that he has "a very good relationship with China and with the president."

 

"I have a lot of respect for President Xi," Trump said.

 

Trump emphasized that Chinese-owned farmland "has been an issue for years."

 

In a February Fox News op-ed, Presidential Envoy for Special Missions Ric Grenell echoed growing concern on the right over Chinese-owned farmland, calling it part of a "not-so-silent takeover."

 

"While conservative legislators and governors across the country are taking action to stop adversarial nations from buying U.S. farmland, we must recognize that there’s a much broader issue at play here — China’s end goal is not confined to land ownership," Grenell wrote.

 

Capitol Hill lawmakers have already begun taking action. In early March, Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., introduced the PASS Act in the Senate, which would bar entities from "covered countries" — including China — from purchasing agricultural land near military bases or other sensitive sites.

 

The legislation, which also has Democratic support, would allow the Department of Agriculture to submit cases to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. for review if the department suspects there is a national security concern.

 

Likewise, Republican senators in January also announced the Not One More Inch or Acre Act, led by Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota and Katie Britt of Alabama.

 

The legislation would require selling land owned or "influenced" by the Chinese Communist Party that is deemed to be a national security risk.

The 40-year-old, who is vaccinated against the virus, reflected on the illness, and how it compared to her unvaccinated husband’s experience during a new episode of her podcast Teddi Tea Pod.

 

During the podcast, Mellencamp revealed that both she and Arroyave had tested positive for Covid-19 - but that her husband experienced more severe symptoms because he was unvaccinated.

“A while back, I had Covid, and I didn’t really talk about it because I was just really focused on making sure that I was healthy and my family was healthy,” she said, adding: “I learned a lot of things in the process.

However, when Arroyave tested positive, they both had to quarantine away from their family, as well as from each other, with the former reality star explaining that she tested positive shortly after her husband.

 

Mellencamp then revealed that their reactions to Covid were “very different,” as she recovered quicker and was only sick for about six days, during which she experienced symptoms such as vertigo, chest pain and cold sweats, while her husband was sick for 15 days.

 

“Edwin, he was super weak, and it was so many different things and it really was a great reminder how important it is, you know, to get vaccinated,” she continued.

 

According to Mellencamp, she decided to share her experience with Covid because she is still experiencing vertigo, a condition of “dizziness that occurs without any accompanying movement,” with the mother-of-three revealing that she fainted as a result of her vertigo over the weekend, which resulted in a cut lip and black eye.

 

“I would feel like I was laying on a waterbed and then when I’d get up I’d feel dizzy. And it kind of lingered with me, even post-Covid, and it had been continuing to happen,” she explained, before recounting the “scary” experience.

The Bush-appointed judge who blocked efforts by the CIA to fire employees involved in DEI programs also serves on the FISA Court — is the same judge who undercut one of John Durham's Russian collusion hoax prosecutions.

The judge who this week blocked efforts by the CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to fire employees involved with divisive DEI programs previously helped kneecap one of special counsel John Durham’s cases tied to the Russia collusion hoax.

Judge Anthony Trenga, appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia by President George W. Bush, blocked efforts by the CIA and the ODNI to terminate intelligence officers who had been tied to so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” efforts during the Biden administration.

Trenga, the judge who also oversaw Durham’s case against the Russian-born Igor Danchenko, kneecapped the special counselahead of the October 2022 trial, including ruling that Durham could not use details from the FBI’s prior counterintelligence investigation into Danchenko. He was accused of being the main source for British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s debunked dossier. Trenga limited a host of other evidence Durham had sought to show the jury as well.

During the trial,Trenga dealt Durham's case another blow as he dismissed one of the false-statement charges brought against Danchenko, who was acquitted of all charges in October 2022. The Eastern District of Virginia is known for handling many national security cases, andTrenga has also been a member of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court since May 2020, and has been the presiding judge on the secretive court since May 2023.

Trump's "Anti-DEI" executive order

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump issued an executive order titled “Ending Radical And Wasteful Government DEI Programs And Preferencing” on the day he was sworn in for his second term. The executive order is sweeping in scope, and applies to all federal agencies and their contractors. Trump also ordered each department and agency head to “terminate, to the maximum extent allowed by law, all DEI…offices and positions” and “all DEI…performance requirements for employees, contractors, or grantees.”

The president followed this up with an executive order on “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity” the next day, arguing that “these illegal DEI…policies also threaten the safety of American men, women, and children across the Nation by diminishing the importance of..

The Justice Department said last month that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe were implementing it…But, as of earlier this week, Trenga blocked the termination efforts by the CIA and ODNI following a lawsuit by anonymous intelligence community employees.

Durham and Danchenko: Igor Danchenko was on the FBI’s payroll as a confidential human source from March 2017 to October 2020 before he was charged in November 2021 with five counts of making false statements to the bureau. The FBI agent assigned to be the handler for Danchenko testified that he sought to have the bureau pay Danchenko more than $500,000.

Trenga tossed that charge out before the jury could decide on it.

Durham’s indictment also said Danchenko lied to the FBI about a phone call he claims he received from Sergei Millian, an American citizen born in Belarus, who the Steele source had allegedly told him about a conspiracy of cooperation between former President Donald Trump and the Russians — collusion allegations which the special counsel said were baseless. Despite its lack of merit, the narrative of Trump being in league with Putinhas been the centerpiece of many Democratic candidates' campaign advertising, including Joe Biden's.

Durham's indictment of Danchenko argued that the Steele source falsely told the FBI in 2017 that, in late July 2016, he had received a phone call from Millian. He claimed Millian told him about a well-developed conspiracy of cooperation between Trump and Russians and further allegedly falsely claimed Millian had agreed to meet with him in New York in 2017.Danchenko denied this, and was found not guilty related to all charges.

US judge: Terror watchlist violates constitutional rights

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — The government’s watchlist of more than 1 million people identified as “known or suspected terrorists” violates the constitutional rights of those placed on it, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

The ruling from U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga grants summary judgment to nearly two dozen Muslim U.S. citizens who had challenged the watchlist with the help of a Muslim civil-rights group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.But the judge is seeking additional legal briefs before deciding what remedy to impose.

==The plaintiffs said they were wrongly placed on the list and that the government’s process for adding names is overbroad and riddled with errors.

The watchlist is disseminated to a variety of governmental departments, foreign governments and police agencies.

The FBI declined comment on the ruling Wednesday. In court, the FBI’s lawyers argued that the difficulties suffered by the plaintiffs pale in comparison to the government’s interests in combatting terrorism.

Gadeir Abbas, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, called the ruling a victory. He said he will be asking the judge to severely curtail how the government compiles and uses its list.

“Innocent people should be beyond the reach of the watchlist system,”Abbas said.“We think that’s what the Constitution requires.”(what a weird statement, “we think” and “the constitution doesn’t require it” and what you think has nothing to do with it)

Abbas said that while there has been significant litigation over the no-fly list, which forced the government to improve the process for people seeking to clear their name from the list, he said Trenga’s ruling is the first to broadly attack the government’s use of the watchlist. Trenga also wrote in his 31-page ruling that the case “presents unsettled issues.”

Ultimately, Trenga ruled that the travel difficulties faced by plaintiffs — who say they were handcuffed at border crossings and frequently subjected to invasive secondary searches at airports — are significant, and that they have a right to due process when their constitutional rights are infringed.

He also said the concerns about erroneous placement on the list are legitimate.

“There is no evidence, or contention, that any of these plaintiffs satisfy the definition of a ‘known terrorist,” Trenga wrote. And the alternate standard for placement — that of a “suspected terrorist” — can easily be triggered by innocent conduct that is misconstrued, he said.

The watchlist, also known as the Terrorist Screening Database, is maintained by the FBI and shared with a variety of federal agencies. Customs officers have access to the list to check people coming into the country at border crossings, and aviation officials use the database to help form the no-fly list, which is a much smaller subset of the broader watchlist.

The watchlist has grown significantly over the years. As of June 2017, approximately 1.16 million people were included on the watchlist, according to government documents filed in the lawsuit. In 2013, the number was only 680,000. The vast majority are foreigners, but according to the government, there are roughly 4,600 U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents on the watchlist as of 2017.

Abbas argued at a court hearing earlier this year that the intrusions imposed on those listed are all for naught and that the list is worthless in terms of preventing terrorism. He noted that Omar Mateen, the man who shot and killed 49 people at an Orlando nightclub in 2016, was at one time on the list but was later removed from it. Others who have committed terrorist acts have never even been included on the watchlist.

Earlier this year, the House of Representatives adopted a proposal from Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar that would force President Donald Trump’s administration to disclose details about how it shares the watchlist with foreign countries.

Ukrainian terror plot against Russian cadets foiled – FSB

The security agency has apprehended a Russian serviceman allegedly recruited by Kiev’s intelligence services to stage an attack

 

 

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted a Ukrainian bomb plot targeting military cadets, the agency announced on Friday. A Russian serviceman recruited by Ukrainian intelligence was detained when he attempted to collect explosives for the planned attack, the agency said.

 

The FSB released footage of the arrest at an undisclosed location in Moscow Region, showing heavily armed agents pursuing the suspect in a remote area.The contents of the dead drop appeared to contain multiple pieces of plastic explosives, according to the video.

 

“A serviceman with the Russian Defense Ministry, recruited by the Ukrainian special services, who was involved in the preparation of a terrorist act in a dormitory where cadets of military universities live, was detained when he recovered components of an explosive device from a cache,” the FSB said in a statement.

 

The suspect has reportedly admitted his guilt, confirming he was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence to carry out the attack. The FSB said it had recovered the suspect’s correspondence with his Ukrainian handler detailing the bomb plot.

 

The serviceman faces criminal charges for preparing a terrorist attack and illegal possession of explosives. If found guilty, he could be jailed for up to 20 years.

 

Last month, the FSB reported that it had foiled a Ukrainian letter bomb plot, recovering multiple parcels containing improvised explosive devices camouflaged as perfume gifts. The bombs were rigged to detonate upon receipt, according to the agency.

 

At the time, the FSB said it detained a Russian citizen believed to have mailed the explosive perfume sets to Russian servicemen and government employees on the orders of his Ukrainian handlers.

Kremlin comments on envoy’s Washington talks

 

Kirill Dmitriev met with White House officials this week to discuss steps to restoring bilateral ties

 

The Kremlin said on Friday that a visit to Washington by President Vladimir Putin’s investment envoy signaled cautious optimism about normalizing relations between Russia and the US.

 

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, traveled to Washington this week for a three-day visit to discuss steps toward restoring bilateral ties. He previously took part in talks in Riyadh and is the highest-ranking Russian official to go to the US since diplomatic visits were suspended in 2022.

 

Asked whether Dmitriev’s trip marked a confident step forward in relations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, “Let’s first wait for his return to Moscow.”

 

“There’s cautious optimism,” he said. “Work is painstaking and ongoing, including through different channels.”

 

Peskov saidsuch contacts were “very important”and that efforts to improve relations would continue.

 

Describing his meetings with White House officials, Dmitriev told reporters on Thursday thatRussia and the US had made “three steps forward” over the past two days.

 

He reportedly met with Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, who has been one of the key US negotiators on Ukraine. NBC News reported that Dmitriev also held talks with Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Markwayne Mullin.

 

Dmitriev said discussions focused on gradually rebuilding cooperation severed by former President Joe Biden’s administration in 2022. The agenda included a possible partnership in the Arctic, the development of rare-earth minerals, and the resumption of direct flights between the countries.

 

Following the talks, Dmitriev said progress had been made towards resolving the Ukraine conflict, but warned that third parties were trying to derail normalization efforts initiated by Trump in February.

 

According to Dmitriev, Trump and his team have a better understanding of Moscow’s terms than his predecessor.

 

Trump on Thursday acknowledged Dmitriev’s visit and again called for an end to the war as soon as possible.

 

“We are spearheading the drive to get it done. Europe has not been successful in dealing with [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin, but I think I will be successful,” Trump told reporters.

 

He previously told NBC that he intends to talk with Putin again, potentially as soon as this week, following their previous conversation on March 18.

Sean Combs, the entertainment mogul who's been in custody since his September arrestfor charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy,faces two new counts as part of a superseding indictment filed in federal court on Thursday. The new charges expand the timeline of Combs' alleged crimes and could potentially result in a longer prison sentence.

 

The first new count alleges that Combs engaged in sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion between 2021 and 2024. The second alleges that within that same time period, Combs also transported multiple individuals — including an unnamed victim — "on multiple occasions with the intent that they engage in prostitution." Combs had already been indicted on counts of sex trafficking and transporting to engage in prostitution spanning from 2009 to 2018.

 

NPR reached out to Combs Global and to Combs' lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, and is awaiting comment on the new charges. In the past, Combs' representatives have denied all allegations against him; he has pleaded not guilty to two prior indictments.

 

The new indictment filed in the U.S. District Court - Southern District of New York still includes one count of racketeering conspiracy alleging that between 2004 and 2024, Combs Enterprises— including media, music, fashion and alcohol spirits companies — functioned as a criminal organization that facilitated and concealed Combs' alleged crimes. These include "a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse toward women and other individuals," including verbal, physical, emotional and sexual abuse that extended to his own employees. The charges allege that Combs Enterprises' activities violated U.S. racketeering laws through kidnapping, arson, bribery, forced labor and more.

 

Jury selection for Combs' trial is set to begin on May 5, with opening statements scheduled for May 12. In addition to federal charges, Combs faces more than two dozen civil lawsuits for sexual assault, rape, sex trafficking and more.

US Marines on Wednesday arrested a National Security Council (NSC) staffer on treason charges, a day before President Trump reportedly terminated several NSC members based, purportedly, on opposition research given to him by rightwing commentator and podcaster Laura Loomer, long a divisive figure in Trump World.

 

The President yesterday confirmed the dismissal of Alex Wong, the deputy national security adviser; Brian Walsh, director for intelligence and a former top aide to Secretary of State Marco Rubio; Thomas Boodry, senior director for legislative affairs; David Feith, senior director for technology and national security; and Gen. Tim Haugh, who oversaw US Cyber Command (not to be confused with US Army Cyber Command).

 

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One Thursday afternoon while en route to Florida, President Trump said he had dismissed several NSC officials but downplayed Loomer’s involvement, even though she on social media posts took credit for helping rid the administration of disloyal Bush-era neocons.

 

Whoever exposed the traitors, in this reporter’s humble opinion, deserves nothing less than the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

 

While we have no specifics on Wong, Walsh, Boodry, or Faith, we can confirm, based on conversations with sources at Gen. Smith’s office, that Gen. Haugh was actually fired Wednesday evening and arrested at his D.C. residence a few hours afterward.

 

“I don’t know how long Haugh was a traitor,” a source in Gen. Smith’s office told RRN, “but I’m sure that’ll come out at a military tribunal. What I know, well, is—the President told Gen. Smith Haugh is a Deep collaborator and was abusing his position to send the enemy classified information, and was undermining President Trump. He told Gen. Smith to go get Haugh and ‘lock him up.’ And that’s what we did.”

 

A belligerent and disheveled Haugh reeked of alcohol and was clutching a bottle of booze when he willingly opened his front door to US Marines at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. Per our source, Haugh wore only a pair of stained briefs and an alcohol-soaked tee shirt. Informed he was being charged with treason and violating the Espionage Act of 1917, Haugh took a long draught from the bottle and asked the Marines whether they wanted a sip. “If you’re here to arrest me, at least drink me with,” Haugh purportedly said, then launched an alcohol-fueled, invective-laced tirade decrying President Trump as the preeminent enemy of freedom.

 

“The Marines relieved him of his bottle and cuffed him. Haugh’s been taken to a military internment facility, and he’ll eventually end up at GITMO or Blaz,” our source said.

 

Haugh, 56, joined the United States Air Force in 1991 and was nominated for promotion to general and appointment as commander of US Cyber Command and chief of the Central Security Service in 2023. When we receive addtional details on Haugh, or the other fired NSC members, we’ll post a follow-up.

Sean Diddy Combs Slapped With Another Superseding Indictment as Four Alleged Victims Are To Testify at His May 5th Trial

 

Federal prosecutors on Friday added two charges to Sean “Diddy” Combs ' indictment and said they expect four accusers to testify against him, expanding on allegations that the jailed hip-hop mogul engaged in sex trafficking with multiple women and as recently as last year.

 

A superseding indictment accuses Combs of using force, fraud or coercion to compel a woman to engage in commercial sex acts from at least 2021 to 2024.

 

The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in Manhattan, also alleges that Combs was involved in transporting the woman — identified only as “Victim-2” — and other people, including commercial sex workers, to engage in prostitution during the same period.

 

The new charges are in addition to racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges filed against Combs when he was arrested in September. They increase the total number of charges against him from three to five.

 

In a court filing, federal prosecutors said the racketeering conspiracy charge involves allegations that Combs sex-trafficked three victims and forced a fourth, one of his employees, into sexual activity with him.

 

Combs, 55, denies committing any crimes. He is scheduled to stand trial May 5 and remains locked up without bail at a federal jail in Brooklyn.

 

“These are not new allegations or new accusers. These are the same individuals, former long-term girlfriends, who were involved in consensual relationships,” Combs' legal team said in a statement. "This was their private sex life, defined by consent, not coercion.”

 

Friday’s superseding indictment is the third filed against Combs.

 

In the first, in January, federal prosecutors disclosed that their case involved at least three women whom they said Combs forced to engage in commercial sex acts. They also alleged Combs showed a firearm to a female victim during a kidnapping and once dangled a woman over an apartment balcony.

 

Combs' January indictment didn't include additional charges but modified some details of the existing ones, including adding four years to the alleged racketeering conspiracy. Prosecutors now say it started in 2004, not 2008 as the original indictment had alleged. A superseding indictment in March contained minimal changes.

EMERGENCY DOCKET:Supreme Court allows Trump to halt millions in teacher training grants

The Supreme Court on Friday afternoon put on hold an order by a federal judge in Massachusetts that would have required the Department of Education to reinstate more than $65 million in grants that it terminated in February because they funded programs that included diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

 

In an unsigned three-page opinion, a majority of the court explained that the government likely would not be able to get the funds back once they were disbursed. Moreover, the majority added, the recipients of the funds would not be permanently harmed if the funds are withheld while the litigation continues.

 

The vote was 5-4, with Chief Justice John Roberts indicating that he would have denied the government’s request. Justice Elena Kagan dissented, calling the court’s ruling a “mistake.” Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, in an opinion joined by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, also dissented, writing that it was “beyond puzzling that a majority of the Justices conceive of the Government’s application as an emergency.”

 

At issue in the case are two grant programs intended to address a nationwide shortage of teachers. The Department of Education canceled all but five of the 109 grants after reviews found “objectionable” diversity and equity training material in the recipient programs.

 

Eight states, led by California, filed a lawsuit in federal court in Massachusetts in early March. They contended that universities and nonprofits in their states had received grants through the programs, andthat the Department of Education had violated the federal law governing administrative agencies when it ended those grants.

 

A federal district judge issued a temporary order that required the government to reinstate the grants that it had terminated in the states bringing the lawsuit. U.S. District Judge Myong Joun also prohibited the government from implementing other terminations in those states.

 

The United States Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit declined to put the district court’s order on hold while the government appealed, but it fast-tracked the appeal itself.

 

The Trump administration came to the Supreme Court on March 24, asking the justices to step in. Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris asserted that unless the justices intervened, federal courts around the country will continue to exceed their powers “by ordering the Executive Branch to restore lawfully terminated grants across the government, keep paying for programs that the Executive Branch views as inconsistent with the interests of the United States, and send out the door taxpayer money that may never be clawed back.” Harris appealed to the justices to “put a swift end to federal district courts’ unconstitutional reign as self-appointed managers of Executive Branch funding and grant-disbursement decisions.”

 

California and the other states urged the court to stay out of the dispute. Joun, they said, “acted responsibly — entering a narrow and time-limited restraining order to preserve the status quo while moving rapidly to adjudicate” the state’s request for a preliminary injunction. The government cannot appeal the district court’s order, in any event the government’s appeal will be moot (that is, no longer a live controversy) by early April, they concluded.

 

In its order granting the Trump administration’s request on Friday, the majority first noted that although temporary orders like the one entered by Joun in this case are not normally appealable, it could nonetheless weigh in here because the order “carries many of the hallmarks of a preliminary injunction,” which can be appealed.

 

And the government is likely to show, the majority continued, that Joun lacked the power to order the government to make the payments under the federal law governing administrative agencies. Although that law waives the federal government’s general immunity from lawsuits, the majority explained, the waiver is a limited one that does not apply to court orders that would require the government to pay money for a contractual obligation. Instead, the majority continued, another federal law – the Tucker Act – gives another court, the Court of Federal Claims, the power to hear lawsuits arising from contracts with the United States.

More broadly, she wrote, the chance that the justices will make such a mistake increases when, as in this case, the justices act quickly, outside the normal briefing and argument schedule. She acknowledged that such fast action is sometimes necessary “despite the risk.” But for Kagan, “nothing about this case demanded our immediate intervention. Rather than make new law on our emergency docket,” she concluded, “we should have allowed the dispute to proceed in the ordinary way.”

 

Jackson called what she characterized as the majority’s “eagerness to insert itself into this early stage of ongoing litigation over the lawfulness” of the Department of Education’s actions “equal parts unprincipled and unfortunate.”

 

Noting that Joun’s order will expire in just three days, she emphasized that it only bars the government from implementing a “mass termination” of grants; it does not prohibit the government from deciding, under its normal review process, to terminate individual grants.

 

Moreover, she continued, “there is no evidence that grantees have rushed to draw down the remaining $65 million in grant funds” in the 25 days since the order was entered. But if they did, she added, the government does have mechanisms to recover those funds.

 

Jackson criticized both the government’s decision to seek emergency relief without addressing the merits of the challenge and her colleagues’ decision to grant it, “If the emergency docket has now become a vehicle for certain defendants to obtain this Court’s real-time opinion about lower court rulings on various auxiliary matters, we should announce that new policy and be prepared to shift how we think about, and address, these kinds of applications.”

Alabama school lunch lady, 41, 'took boy home and had sex with him'

 

An Alabama lunch lady was arrested this week after allegedly confessing to having sex with a student.

 

Amy Nicole Wigginton, 41, reportedly admitted to having sex with the boy on at least two separate occasions at her home in March 2025.

 

A lunch lady in the Lauderdale County School system in Lauderdale, Alabama, Wigginton often shared images to social media with her husband and children.

 

Wigginton was arrested last week after officers confronted her over the allegations.

 

She was interviewed by police, and after making her confession she was charged with two counts of a school employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student.

 

It is unclear how old the student was, with a court document obtained by WAFF48 noting that they were 'enrolled in (her) school' and is 'under the age of 19.'

 

The age of consent in Alabama is 16 years old.

 

But sex abuse charges can be filed in cases involving victims aged up to 18 if the suspect is an adult whose job it is to care for them.

 

Wigginton was booked into the Lauderdale County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

A police officer who tried to meet a teenager while carrying 'sex toys, condoms, limb restraints and bondage equipment' in an Aldi 'bag for life' has been jailed for 32 months.

 

Inspector Thomas Kettleborough, 35, had sexually explicit conversations with what he thought was a 14-year-old boy he had met on Grindr and arranged to meet him in a car park in Bristol on July 14, 2023.

 

The Avon and Somerset officer was caught in a sting operation by the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit when he went to meet the child, Exeter Crown Court heard.

 

Nicholas Lewin, prosecuting, said Kettleborough used a false name, calling himself Liam on Grindr and Snapchat, and claimed to be 28.

 

Mr Lewin said: 'Police officers attended on Mr Kettleborough and arrested him in relation to the conversation.

 

'During search of his vehicle, a yellow Aldi bag for life was located inside the boot containing an assortment of sex toys, condoms and bondage equipment, including a pair of limb restraints.'

 

After Kettleborough was arrested, police found he was in possession of more than 150 indecent images of children on his phone and computer.

 

In a statement prepared for the sentencing hearing, the mother of a victim said: 'I now live every day in fear for my children's safety and the guilt I feel as a parent that I couldn't protect my child has eaten away at me.

Neocons Attempt To Stall U.S.-Russia Talks

 

Negotiations between the U.S. and Russia about the war in Ukraine seem to be losing steam.

 

Russia has long insisted on a solution of the conflict which removes the root causes of it. It can not allow for Ukraine to become a NATO battering ram at its doorstep. It can not allow a fascist government in Ukraine.

 

Any solution to the conflict must resolve (at least) those two issues.

 

The Trump administration wants the Ukraine problem out of its way. It wants to implement a ceasefire to be able to turn away and ignore the festering problem.

 

Russia won't have that (archived):

 

On Tuesday, Moscow reinforced its hard-line, maximalist demands when Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov complained that Russia’s demand “to solve the problems related to the root causes of the conflict” was being ignored by the U.S., and “we cannot accept all of this as it is.”

As the U.S. overstates its progress in talks, Moscow seems concerned that Trump’s negotiators do not understand how serious it is about these demands, according to [Thomas Graham, senior director for Russia at the National Security Council under the George W. “The question is whether the administration has the patience to continue those negotiations and whether they can conduct the negotiations in ways that can extract concessions from the Russian side,” he said.

Our old relationship of steadily deepening integration with the US is over,” the prime minister announced.

 

Carney described the development as a “tragedy” that has become “the new reality,” but claimed that Ottawa was ready to take “global economic leadership” instead of Washington.

 

“Canada must be looking elsewhere to expand our trade, to build our economy, and to protect our sovereignty. Canada is ready to take a leadership role in building a coalition of like-minded countries who share our values,” he said. “And if the United States no longer wants to lead, Canada will.”

 

Canada has become one of the prime targets for Trump’s attacks on the global trade status quo, with the US president alleging that Washington has been “subsidizing” Ottawa in the amount of about $200 billion a year. The best way to resolve their economic disagreements would be for Canada would be becoming the “cherished” 51st state of the US, he has suggested on multiple occasions.

 

While Canadian leaders have firmly rejected the annexation idea, opinion polls have indicated it is also extremely unpopular among the public as well. A recent YouGov poll suggested that up to 77% of Canadians firmly oppose it, with only around 15% in favor of a merger with the US.

Air Force Backtracks on Banning Personal Pronouns from Email Signatures

Commander in Top Colorado Information Operations Post Sacked by Navy

 

The Navy has relieved the commanding officer of its Colorado-based Information Operations Command, according to a statement released Thursday.

 

Cmdr. Christopher Johnson was relieved from leadership of NIOC, a subordinate command of Naval Information Operations Command Pacific headquartered at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, by Capt. Chelsey Zwicker, the commodore of the Hawaii headquarters.

The Department of Education argued that the grants violated President Trump’s executive order abolishing Marxist DEI policies.

 

Last month US District Judge Myong Joun, a Biden appointee, issued a TRO and ordered the Trump Administration to reinstate the grants.

 

The 1st Circuit Court of Appeals denied the Trump DOJ’s request to stay the judge’s TRO pending appeal.

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the Trump administration to terminate Education Department grants for teacher training that officials deemed to violate their new policy opposing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

 

The 5-4 decision blocks a Massachusetts-based judge’s ruling that said the administration had failed to follow the correct legal process in terminating the grants. About $65 million in grant payments are outstanding.

 

The decision is the first win for President Donald Trump at the Supreme Court in his second term.

 

Five of the court’s conservatives were in the majority, while Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three liberals in dissent.

"Substitutes are always dangerous"

Dr. Uriel Bertler, Israel police chief inspector and an expert at Israel’s National Narcotics Laboratory, warns that Captagon produced on the black market is counterfeit and differs significantly from the original medication that was sold before its ban, making it highly dangerous. "Its active ingredient is amphetamine, a powerful stimulant classified as a controlled substance", Bertler explains. "We seize tens of thousands of tablets every year."

 

What distinguishes Captagon from other amphetamine-based drugs, according to Bertler, is its signature marking - a pill engraved with two half-moons on one side and a single score line on the other.
