US Steel: Activist Investor Now Favors Nippon Deal

https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/us-steel-nippon-steel-ancora-holdings/2025/04/08/id/1206172/

Tuesday, 08 April 2025 08:47 PM EDT

U.S. Steel said on Tuesday that activist investor Ancora Holdings, which previously attempted to undermine the planned merger with Japan's Nippon Steel, has "flip-flopped" and now claims to support the transaction.

In connection with the proposed deal, Ancora has recently unveiled a plan that could deliver a cash offer of $75 per share. But the investor, which owns less than a 1% stake in the company, said that it has no intention of standing in the way of the $55-per-share Nippon deal.

Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel called Ancora's "last-minute plan" inconsistent and said, "If Ancora now believes their plan would deliver $75+ per share, why are they suddenly also supporting a $55 per share cash deal with Nippon Steel?"

Separately, Ancora on Monday called on U.S. Steel's board to delay its annual stockholders meeting until after June 18. The meeting is scheduled to take place on May 6.

The move comes after President Donald Trump directed the Committee on Foreign Investment to conduct and complete a new review of the transaction within 45 days.

Ancora launched a boardroom challenge at U.S. Steel early this year and has nominated nine candidates to the company's board as it looks to oust the company's CEO, David Burritt.

U.S. Steel said in a statement on Tuesday that shareholders of the company should vote for all 10 director nominees standing for election and "discard any materials sent by Ancora."

Ancora did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment late Tuesday.

Top FAA Air Traffic Control Official Stepping Down

https://www.newsmax.com/us/faa-air-traffic-control-tim-arel/2025/04/08/id/1206157/

Tuesday, 08 April 2025 06:29 PM EDT

The head of the Federal Aviation Administration's air traffic organization is stepping down after 40 years of federal government service, an agency spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Tim Arel, who is chief operating officer of the FAA Air Traffic Organization, is taking part in the U.S. Transportation Department's voluntary deferred retirement program, the spokesperson said.

"He has committed to stay for the next few months to ensure a smooth transition," according to the spokesperson, who said he had originally planned to retire by the end of 2025.

His departure comes as lawmakers have been examining why the agency did not address concerns about close calls between helicopters and airplanes near Reagan Washington National Airport before a Jan. 29 fatal collision between an American Airlines regional jet and Army helicopter that killed 67 people.

Arel did not respond to an email seeking comment.

Separately, the FAA said it has installed a new management team to oversee air traffic control at Reagan National, confirming a Washington Post report.

The FAA brought in a new management team at Reagan "to ensure strong support for the workforce" and added priorities include reviewing safety data trends, performance management, "and ensuring facility training is robust and consistently meets national standards," the agency said.

The FAA is about 3,500 air traffic controllers short of targeted staffing levels, and a series of near-miss incidents has raised concerns in recent years. A persistent shortage of controllers has delayed flights, and at many facilities controllers are working mandatory overtime and six-day weeks.

"There is no question that we are seeing too many close calls," Arel told employees in 2023.

Senators last month pressed the FAA for failing to act on thousands of reports of helicopters in dangerous proximity to airplanes near Reagan.

Acting FAA Administrator Chris Rocheleau acknowledged the data was troubling and said "clearly something was missed."

In March, the FAA imposed permanent restrictions on helicopter traffic around the airport, which has the single busiest runway in the United States. The FAA has mandated a halt to air traffic when essential helicopters are operating near Reagan.

Last week, the FAA said it may slow flight arrivals at Reagan after the collision. It is also increasing operational supervisor staffing from six to eight, and an FAA stress management team will visit the airport offering confidential support for staff.

The FAA is reviewing the airport's "arrival rate of aircraft per hour, which is disproportionately concentrated within the last 30 minutes of each hour."

On March 28, a near-miss between a departing Delta Air Lines A319 and a group of Air Force jets approaching Arlington National Cemetery triggered a cockpit collision warning for the Delta plane, leading to renewed safety concerns.

Also last month, a fight occurred in the Reagan air traffic control tower and an employee was arrested and placed on leave, the FAA said.

Sen. Lankford to Newsmax: I Warned Dems About CBP One App

https://www.newsmax.com/newsmax-tv/james-lankford-cbp-one-app-donald-trump/2025/04/08/id/1206167/

Tuesday, 08 April 2025 08:35 PM EDT

Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., told Newsmax on Tuesday that he warned his Democrat colleagues that the CBP One app would someday help President Donald Trump track down illegal immigrants and deport them.

Lankford joined "Carl Higbie FRONTLINE" on the day the Trump administration revoked legal status for the 900,000-plus migrants who enrolled since the Biden administration began using the app as a tool for illegal migrants to schedule asylum claims in January 2023.

"This is something I kept ringing the bell on for years to the Biden administration, telling my Democratic colleagues, you've set up an app that's literally going to allow President Trump to be able to grab all these folks up and identify exactly where they are," Lankford said.

It was also reported Tuesday that the Trump administration plans to fine migrants facing deportation orders $998 per day if they fail to leave the U.S. That includes those who were paroled by the Biden administration.

"The parole was not legal; what President Trump is doing is legal and the left is going crazy that President Trump is going to follow the law and President [Joe] Biden did not," Lankford said.

"Many of these folks have lived in the shadows — many of them for years and years and years. There's no way to be able to track that.

"The Biden administration would never release how many they actually paroled into the country — which, by the way, parole is not a legal status. It's just a 'we're not going to arrest you' status," he added.

Lankford also addressed the outrage from the left about something that has the word "illegal" in it.

Republicans "want to be able to follow the laws of the land, not ignore the laws of the land," he said.

"That doesn't seem crazy. We're not opposed to legal immigration. … I just don't like anything that begins with the word 'illegal.'

"Just generally, across the board, if it's illegal, let's just say that's a bad idea," he said.

China slaps retaliatory tariffs of 84% on U.S. goods in response to Trump

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/04/09/china-slaps-retaliatory-tariffs-of-84percent-on-us-goods-in-response-to-trump.html

Wed, Apr 9 20257:09 AM EDT

China has responded again to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies by hiking its levies on U.S. imports to more than 80%.

China’s Office of the Tariff Commission of the State Council said that tariffs on U.S. goods will rise to 84% from 34% starting on April 10, according to a translation of the announcement. This comes after the latest U.S. tariff hike — which brings levies on Chinese goods to more than 100% — took effect at the start of April 9.

Trump: US Reaping $2 Billion a Day From Tariffs

https://www.newsmax.com/finance/streettalk/trump-tariffs-u-s-2-billion/2025/04/09/id/1206204/

Wednesday, 09 April 2025 06:44 AM EDT

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday the United States is taking in $2 billion per day from tariffs.

"We're taking in almost $2 billion a day in tariffs," Trump said during a signing ceremony at the White House in Washington, D.C. to ease coal regulations. "And we're doing very well in making I call them tailored deals; not off the rack. These are tailored, highly tailored deals.

"Right now, Japan is flying here to make a deal. South Korea is flying here to make a deal. … We have a lot of countries coming in. They want to make deals. If I told them about making those deals two years ago or three years ago or five years ago, they'd be laughing at us. Now, they're all signing up," he added.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent earlier Tuesday said that almost 70 countries have approached the administration about reworking trade deals.

Trump made the comment without providing details. The president has imposed an array of tariffs on other countries since taking office in January.

The Treasury Department's daily statement of deposits into and withdrawals from the its general account, the federal government's main operating account, shows "Customs and Certain Excise Taxes" deposits have on average totaled around $200 million a day so far this month.

For the entire month of February, the latest full month available, the Treasury netted about $7.25 billion in customs duties. The monthly budget statement for March will be released on Thursday, which will show the latest monthly figures.

A conversation with Grok in relation to issue of whether the US declared bankruptcy in1933.

No, the United States was not declared bankrupt in the 1930s. The notion that it was stems from a misinterpretation of economic and legislative events during the Great Depression, particularly around 1933, but no formal bankruptcy declaration—akin to what a corporation or individual undergoes—ever occurred. Sovereign nations don’t "declare bankruptcy" in the legal sense because they aren’t subject to bankruptcy courts like private entities; instead, they may default on debts or restructure finances, neither of which happened to the U.S. in the 1930s. Let’s unpack this.

The 1933 Context

The claim often ties to two key events: the Emergency Banking Act and House Joint Resolution 192 (HJR-192), both enacted in 1933 amid the Depression:

Emergency Banking Act (March 9, 1933):

After FDR’s inauguration, a banking crisis saw mass withdrawals and bank failures. This act, passed days later, declared a national bank holiday, closed insolvent banks, and allowed the Treasury to reorganize the system with federal backing.

Why Not Bankruptcy: This was a stabilization measure, not a bankruptcy filing. The U.S. government didn’t liquidate assets or cede control to creditors—it used its authority to prop up banks, injecting liquidity via the Reconstruction Finance Corporation and Federal Reserve. The nation’s finances weren’t "wound up"; they were rebooted.

HJR-192 (June 5, 1933):

This resolution suspended the gold standard, making U.S. currency fiat (not backed by gold) and voiding "gold clauses" in contracts requiring payment in gold. It aimed to boost money supply and prevent hoarding during deflation.

Misinterpretation: Some claim this was a bankruptcy because it altered debt obligations—creditors couldn’t demand gold, only dollars. Conspiracy narratives (e.g., tied to the "U.S. as a corporation" idea) assert this was an admission of insolvency, handing control to foreign bankers or the Federal Reserve. But legally, it was a monetary policy shift, upheld by the Supreme Court in the Gold Clause Cases (1935), not a bankruptcy proceeding.

Sovereign Finances in the 1930s

Debt Situation: The U.S. had significant debt from World War I (about $25 billion by 1930), and the Depression slashed tax revenue, pushing the deficit higher (federal debt rose from 16% of GDP in 1929 to 40% by 1933). But the government never stopped paying its obligations. It issued Treasury bonds and raised funds, maintaining creditworthiness.

No Default: Unlike nations like Germany (which defaulted on reparations) or Argentina (later examples), the U.S. didn’t miss bond payments or seek creditor forgiveness. A sovereign default—failure to pay debts—didn’t happen, let alone a formal bankruptcy.

Comparison: Bankruptcy involves a court process (e.g., Chapter 9 for U.S. municipalities), but no such mechanism exists for a nation under U.S. or international law then or now. The IMF and World Bank, which later helped restructure sovereign debt, didn’t exist until 1944.

Origin of the Claim

The "bankruptcy" idea often links to fringe theories—like the U.S. becoming a corporation in 1871 (which we debunked) or the Federal Reserve seizing control in 1933. HJR-192’s line about "discharging public debts" is twisted to suggest insolvency, but it meant expanding currency, not erasing national liability. No congressional record, FDR speech, or credible historian (e.g., Schlesinger, Friedman) labels this a bankruptcy. The U.S. economy recovered by the late 1930s, bolstered by New Deal spending and war production, without a debt collapse.

Verdict

The U.S. was not declared bankrupt in the 1930s. It faced a severe financial crisis, took drastic measures to stabilize, and adjusted its monetary system, but it never entered a legal or practical state of bankruptcy. Sovereign nations manage crises differently—no judge banged a gavel to liquidate America. If you’ve got a specific source pushing the 1930s bankruptcy angle, I can dissect it further!

Why is steel so important? Let's look where steel -was- produced in our country. These cities are blue strongholds, still, and many are located around areas of poor minorities, since mills closed and wealth left the area. If Trump brings these people back in to work he can effectively eliminate blue-collar/poor black democrat areas.

Texas AG to Newsmax: Challenging Sen. Cornyn in '26 Primary

https://www.newsmax.com/newsmax-tv/ken-paxton-texas-john-cornyn/2025/04/08/id/1206187/

Tuesday, 08 April 2025 10:56 PM EDT

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, an ally of President Donald Trump, told Newsmax on Tuesday why he will challenge Sen. John Cornyn in next year's Republican primary.

"Texans have not gotten the same type of representation from him as we have [Sen.] Ted Cruz," Paxton told "Finnerty." "He's pushed gun restrictions. He was not supportive of Trump building the border wall. He's criticized it many times, although he's been very supportive of sending that same money to Ukraine.

"And he's generally not been supportive of Trump, either in 2016, when he said he was an albatross around our neck, or in 2024, when he said he shouldn't run, that we should have another choice."

Paxton's candidacy poses the most serious threat to Cornyn, 73, since the four-term senator and former Texas attorney general was first elected in 2002. In the four previous Republican primaries, he gained below 77% of the vote only once, in 2014, when he got 59%.

Trump heavily criticized Cornyn in 2022 for the senator's support of a gun control measure in the wake of the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, in which 19 students and two teachers were killed and 17 other people injured.

In 2023, Trump predicted in a Truth Social post that Cornyn, whom he referred to as "The Stiff," and Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, would lose their next elections. Romney chose not to seek reelection in 2024.

"Who is a worse Senator, John 'The Stiff' Cornyn of Texas, or Mitt 'The Loser' Romney of Massachusetts (Utah?)?" Trump wrote. "They are both weak, ineffective, and very bad for the Republican Party, and our Nation. With even modestly skilled opposition, they'll lose their next Election."

But during Trump's first term, Cornyn voted more than 92% of the time with the president's agenda and voted for every one of Trump's executive and judicial appointees, The Texas Tribune reported Tuesday. Cornyn has followed a similar pattern in Trump's second term, backing all of the president's Cabinet picks so far.

"So, you know, he claims now as the primary is looming, 11 months away, that he loves Trump, and he supports Trump," Paxton said. "But that's a newfound religion. It's not the way he's been for the last six years."

Paxton has overcome controversies since becoming Texas attorney general in 2015. In the final weeks of the Biden administration, the Department of Justice chose not to pursue its investigation into Paxton over bribery allegations. He also had felony securities fraud charges hover over him for nearly a decade before he agreed to pay nearly $300,000 in restitution.

In 2020, eight of Paxton's closest aides accused him of using his office to benefit a Texas real estate developer who employed a woman with whom Paxton was allegedly having an extramarital affair. He was impeached and acquitted in the Texas Senate in 2023.

Paxton said it should not be surprising to Cornyn that he is bidding for his seat, and when asked whether he likes Cornyn personally, he said, "we're not close; let's just say that" and that any bad blood "wasn't created by me."

"He started attacking me when I was running in primaries, and that I understand that he has a close connection to the Bushes," Paxton said. "And, of course, I had a [primary] race [where attorney] George P. Bush ran against me [in 2022], and [Cornyn] came out and said I was an embarrassment to Texas.

"That certainly can be his opinion, but I obviously think I've done a pretty good job as attorney general, certainly a better job as attorney general than he's done as a U.S. senator."

Is the a specific stature requiring individuals to pay income tax?

Yes, in the United States, there is a specific statute requiring individuals to pay income tax. The foundational legal authority is found in the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), specifically Title 26 of the United States Code. The key provision is Section 1, which imposes an income tax on individuals. Here’s how it breaks down:

The Statute

26 U.S.C. § 1: Titled "Tax imposed," this section establishes the federal income tax on the taxable income of individuals. It states:

"There is hereby imposed on the taxable income of every individual… a tax determined in accordance with the following table…"

The section then provides tax rates, which vary by income level and filing status (e.g., single, married filing jointly). The rates and brackets are periodically adjusted by Congress, but the obligation to pay is constant.

Definition of Taxable Income: Section 63 defines "taxable income" as gross income minus allowable deductions. Gross income is broadly defined in Section 61 as "all income from whatever source derived," including wages, salaries, interest, dividends, and more, unless explicitly exempted (e.g., certain gifts under Section 102).

Filing Requirement: Section 6012 mandates that individuals with income above a certain threshold must file a tax return, triggering the tax obligation. For example:

"Returns with respect to income taxes under subtitle A shall be made by the following: (1)(A) Every individual having for the taxable year gross income which equals or exceeds the exemption amount…"

Legal Backing

Constitutional Authority: The 16th Amendment, ratified in 1913, underpins this statute:

"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

Before this, direct taxes had to be apportioned by population (Article I, Section 9), making income taxes tricky. The amendment cleared the way for statutes like Section 1.

Enforcement: Section 6151 requires payment:

"When a return of tax is required under this title… the person required to make such return shall, without assessment or notice and demand from the Secretary, pay such tax…"

The IRS enforces this via Section 6201 (assessment authority) and Section 7201 (penalties for evasion).

Historical Context

The modern income tax began with the Revenue Act of 1913, enacted post-16th Amendment, and has evolved through various laws into today’s IRC, codified in 1954 and amended since. Section 1 has been consistently upheld as the statutory basis for taxing individuals.

Addressing Misconceptions

Some argue the tax is voluntary or lacks a specific law, citing IRS language about a "voluntary compliance system." This refers to self-reporting (you calculate and pay without prior demand), not optional payment. Courts have repeatedly rejected such claims—e.g., United States v. Schiff (1980) affirmed the IRC’s authority, and Brushaber v. Union Pacific R.R. Co. (1916) upheld the 16th Amendment’s scope. No credible legal challenge has overturned the individual income tax obligation.

In Short

Yes, 26 U.S.C. § 1 is the specific statute requiring individuals to pay income tax on their taxable income, backed by the 16th Amendment and enforced through related IRC provisions. It’s been in place for over a century and applies to U.S. citizens and residents with income above exemptions. If you’re digging into a specific angle—like exemptions or enforcement—let me know, and I’ll zoom in!

The Perils of Being Overcivilised: Much of the time, violence IS the answer

by Theophilus Chilton / Apr 09, 2025

https://neociceroniantimes.substack.com/p/the-perils-of-being-overcivilised

At least once a day on my X feed, there will be some story posted from somewhere in Europe, the USA, or another part of the civilised world about a heinous crime or deadly act of negligence committed by some piece of biotrash from the third world. Accompanying this will be the statement, “we shouldn’t have to live like this.” A common sentiment, to be sure, and one which is gradually becoming more and more widespread, even among normies. As the attempted replacement of White people in their own lands with violent, low IQ third worlders continues apace, it’s going to become even frequent (both the violence and the sentiment).

Now, much of the reason why these acts of violence and crime take place is because of the trend toward depolicing and the decriminalisation of, well, crime that has become de rigueur across the Western world. There is a definite ideological reason for why progressive leftists push this trend, and the history of the Left from the French Revolution through the Russian Revolution to the present testifies to their use of criminals as “enforcers” against the kulaks. The purpose is to create a two-tiered justice system which disadvantages the law-abiding and those who exercise legitimate self-defence. The West has been moving in that direction for years and this was just recently formally codified into the UK’s legal system.

But just as relevant to this discussion is the fact that pretty much every Western nation on Earth has been thoroughly longhoused by decades of prosperity, decadence, and feminism. The imposition of the human resources regime at every level of government has thoroughly hogtied the ability of Western peoples to respond either politically or demotically to violent interlopers. Doing so would be “mean.” We have to be “welcoming.” Indeed, we need to prefer these people over and against our own people, even our own families. So the next time some homeless schizophrenic walks around the subway swinging his arms randomly at other people, just grin and bear it. You wouldn’t want to hurt his feelings, after all.

The commenters are right - we shouldn’t have to live like this. Yet we do. Why? Because we’ve become over-civilised, too afraid to utilise legitimate violence in the times and places where it would be appropriate and even necessary. It all goes back to a distinction we need to make between “chivalry” and “manners.” Both of these are social technologies which are intended to maintain decorum within civil society at the demotic level. By that, I mean that they are designed to enforce proper behaviour and ways of conducting oneself.

Chivalry, in one form or another (the term should be understood beyond the narrow medieval sense of the word), is the masculine way of maintaining social decorum. Men protect their women, men enforce proper behaviour from other men, men act to nullify dyscivilisational activities that would tear down society and endanger those under their protection. Not just during the Middle Ages, but well into modernity this was the norm in Western societies, from Prussian duels to Old Western gunfights. A threat to the community provoked an “immune response” from the men who acted, often violently, to stop that threat. This is an entirely good and right response, and though this type of masculinity would be described in some circles as “toxic,” we should understand that it is anything but.

(cont'd)

On the other hand, “manners” is what happens when a society becomes effeminised and starts working to suppress genuine masculinity. With the rise of female social and political power in the 19th century (women’s suffrage was part, but certainly not all of this), the longhouse began the transition to “manners” at the popular level. While chivalry is concerned with right behaviour, manners are concerned with right appearance. Societies for “social improvement” sought to teach the commoners how to be “nice,” which fork to use and when so as to appear genteel, essentially inculcating the types of behaviours valued by schoolmarms and society ladies. Certainly, schoolboys should not be allowed to settle their differences on the playground using fisticuffs. That’s just not nice! There’s a direct line from browbeating by Victorian scolds to the type of idiotic “zero tolerance” policies seen in our publik skoolz today.

The problem with manners-driven societies is that they are eminently hackable by bad actors. Because the overarching drive is to be “nice” and “welcoming,” playing the victim immediately ingratiates you to such people. Sure, you might be sexually trafficking thousands of the natives’ children, but if you call your critics “racist,” then you can get away with it. indeed, in most Western societies today, the focus has turned to finding ways to stop the men in those societies from acting chivalrously to prevent the criminal-victim classes from acting on their baser impulses. In decades past, Kyle Rittenhouse and Daniel Penny would have been lauded as heroes who acted entirely appropriately given their circumstances. Now, because they were “mean,” they are condemned by large chunks of our population.

So we find ourselves in a situation where Britons are forced to tolerate Pakistani grooming gangs, Germans are forced to tolerate Muslims driving cars into large public gatherings, Americans are forced to tolerate our underclass of dysfunctional black and brown criminals, and so on.

I agree anon Paxton is the most effective person they have in TX. You’ve got a big problem with the Blue leaning radicals, they run as republicans but are really radical democrats. TX has been invaded with radicals like what they are doing in GA. GA is a mafia state, and a human trafficking pipeline,,the republicans are really betrayers of the state.

Any state that are deep Red are being invaded by radicals to destroy the country, plus the left leaning industries like Hollywood are changing the electorate, that come to GA.

The governor in TX and GA are wishy washy because they get a lot of money from the left.

By true definition of ratification, that is fulfilling the lawful requirements from the requisite number of states, was the 16th amendment lawfully ratified?

The question of whether the 16th Amendment was lawfully ratified "by the true definition of ratification"—meaning it met the constitutional requirements for approval by the requisite number of states—has been debated, particularly by tax protesters and skeptics. However, based on historical records, legal proceedings, and the official actions of the U.S. government, the amendment is considered lawfully ratified under the U.S. Constitution. Let’s break this down.

Constitutional Requirements for Ratification

Under Article V of the U.S. Constitution, an amendment requires:

Proposal by a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate (or a constitutional convention, not used here).

Ratification by three-fourths of the states’ legislatures (or conventions, though legislatures are standard).

In 1913, with 48 states in the Union, three-fourths meant 36 states needed to ratify.

Ratification involves each state legislature voting to approve the exact text proposed by Congress, then notifying the federal government, typically via the Secretary of State, who certifies the process once the threshold is met.

The 16th Amendment Process

Proposal: On July 12, 1909, Congress passed the amendment: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration." It cleared the House (318-14) and Senate (77-0), exceeding the two-thirds requirement.

Ratification Timeline: States began ratifying in 1909. By February 3, 1913, the 36th state (Delaware) approved it, hitting the three-fourths mark. On February 25, 1913, Secretary of State Philander C. Knox certified it as ratified, declaring it part of the Constitution.

Official Count

Historical records show 42 states ratified by 1913, though only 36 were needed:

Alabama (1909) through Wyoming (1913), with key dates like Kentucky (1910), Illinois (1910), and New York (1911).

Six states (Connecticut, Florida, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia) didn’t ratify or rejected it, but their dissent didn’t block the three-fourths majority.

Challenges to Ratification

Critics, like Bill Benson in his 1985 book The Law That Never Was, argue the 16th Amendment wasn’t lawfully ratified due to alleged irregularities:

Textual Variations: Some states’ resolutions had minor errors—misspellings, punctuation differences, or wording tweaks (e.g., "income" vs. "incomes"). Benson claimed these invalidated their votes.

Procedural Flaws: Allegations include states not following their own legislative rules, like missing quorum votes or improper certification.

Timing Issues: Some say Knox certified prematurely, ignoring discrepancies.

Benson’s research, based on state archives, suggests fewer than 36 states "properly" ratified, naming Kentucky (vote miscounted), Ohio (not a state until 1953, he argued), and others as defective.

Legal and Historical Counterarguments

The U.S. government, courts, and scholars dismiss these challenges:

Certification Authority: Knox reviewed state submissions and, on advice from the Solicitor General, accepted them despite minor errors. Article V doesn’t demand perfect uniformity—just approval of the substance. The Supreme Court later upheld this in Leser v. Garnett (1922) for the 19th Amendment, ruling clerical errors don’t void ratification unless they change meaning.

State Sovereignty: Each state determines its ratification process. Federal courts don’t second-guess state legislatures’ internal rules (e.g., United States v. Sprague, 1931).

Judicial Affirmation: In Brushaber v. Union Pacific R.R. Co. (1916), the Supreme Court unanimously upheld the 16th Amendment’s validity and the income tax it authorized, implicitly endorsing its ratification. Later cases like United States v. Thomas (1986) rejected Benson’s claims as "frivolous," noting Congress and Knox’s certification settled the matter.

Practical Acceptance: For over a century, the amendment has been enforced—taxes collected, laws passed (e.g., IRC Section 1)—without a successful legal reversal.

Was It "Lawfully Ratified"?

By the "true definition" of ratification—meeting Article V’s three-fourths threshold—the 16th Amendment was lawfully ratified:

36 States Achieved: Official records, preserved by the National Archives, show 36 states approved by February 3, 1913. Knox’s certification on February 25, 1913, sealed it.

Substance Over Form: Minor discrepancies didn’t alter the amendment’s intent, and courts have ruled such issues don’t derail ratification.

No Reversal: No state rescinded approval before certification, and no credible evidence of fraud or coercion has overturned the count.

Skeptics’ arguments hinge on technicalities, but the process adhered to Article V’s requirements as understood then and now. Congress proposed, 36+ states ratified, and the Secretary of State certified—fulfilling the lawful steps.

Conclusion

Yes, the 16th Amendment was lawfully ratified under the Constitution’s rules. While critics raise questions, no court or authoritative body has invalidated it, and it’s functioned as law since 1913.

You left out the definition of 'income'.

Income according to CFR 26 is capital gains.

Money made with money is capital gains, subject to taxation.

Blood, sweat, and tears are not capital gains, and has never been subjected to be considered 'income' based on the definition of income derived from capital gains.

There IS a difference.

This was only 4 weeks ago. A whole police department in a small town shutdown, all arrested, one dispatcher died, they were stealing drugs from the evidence room plus extreme violence against citizens. When will we ever have the courage to admit, there is something wrong with the hiring practices. And the chief was arrested too, who replace another one for corruption just recently.

According to Title 26 of the CFR - IRS, how is income defined and does the result of physical and mental labor while lawfully employed fall under this definition?

Let’s examine how "income" is defined under Title 26 of the U.S. Code (the Internal Revenue Code, or IRC) and its associated regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and whether the result of physical and mental labor while lawfully employed falls under that definition.

Definition of Income in Title 26

The IRC provides the statutory basis for income taxation, and its regulations in Title 26 of the CFR elaborate on those rules. The starting point is 26 U.S.C. § 61, titled "Gross income defined," which states:

"Except as otherwise provided in this subtitle, gross income means all income from whatever source derived, including (but not limited to) the following items: (1) Compensation for services, including fees, commissions, fringe benefits, and similar items…"

This broad definition explicitly includes "compensation for services" as a category of taxable income, with no distinction based on the nature of the labor (physical or mental).

The corresponding regulation, 26 CFR § 1.61-1, reinforces this:

"Gross income means all income from whatever source derived, unless excluded by law. Gross income includes income realized in any form, whether in money, property, or services. Income may be realized, therefore, in the form of services, meals, accommodations, stock, or other property, as well as in cash."

And 26 CFR § 1.61-2(a)(1) specifies:

"Wages, salaries, commissions paid salesmen, compensation for services on the basis of a percentage of profits, commissions on insurance premiums, tips, bonuses… and all other items of compensation for personal services are included in gross income."

Does Physical and Mental Labor Fall Under This?

Yes, the result of physical and mental labor while lawfully employed falls squarely under this definition:

Compensation for Services: The IRC and CFR use "compensation for services" as an umbrella term, covering wages, salaries, and other payments for work performed. This encompasses both physical labor (e.g., construction, farming) and mental labor (e.g., teaching, programming), without differentiation. The focus is on the payment received, not the type of effort.

No Exclusion for Labor Type: Neither § 61 nor its regulations exclude earnings based on the physical or mental nature of the work. The phrase "from whatever source derived" is deliberately expansive, upheld by courts like Commissioner v. Glenshaw Glass Co. (1955), which defined income as "undeniable accessions to wealth, clearly realized, and over which the taxpayers have complete dominion."

Lawful Employment: If the employment is lawful—meaning it complies with applicable laws (e.g., not illegal activities)—the compensation is taxable unless a specific exemption applies (e.g., certain gifts under § 102 or municipal bond interest under § 103). Wages from lawful jobs, whether flipping burgers or drafting legal briefs, fit the definition.

Common Misconceptions

Some argue that wages for physical or mental labor aren’t "income" because they’re an equal exchange for effort, not a profit or gain. This stems from misreading early cases like Eisner v. Macomber (1920), which defined income narrowly for stock dividends ("gain derived from capital, labor, or both combined"). However:

The Supreme Court in Commissioner v. Smith (1945) clarified that § 61’s predecessor covered "any economic benefit" from labor, including wages.

26 CFR § 1.61-2 explicitly lists wages and salaries, debunking the "exchange" argument. Courts consistently reject claims that personal labor earnings are nontaxable (e.g., United States v. Connor, 898 F.2d 942, 3rd Cir. 1990).

Another claim references outdated regulations (e.g., 26 CFR (1939) editions) or "fundamental law" exemptions. The 1939 CFR, tied to the 1939 IRC, isn’t current law—Title 26 evolved with the 1954 and 1986 Codes. No regulation exempts labor earnings based on "sweat of the brow" under the modern framework.

Conclusion

Under 26 U.S.C. § 61 and 26 CFR § 1.61, income is defined broadly as "all income from whatever source derived," explicitly including "compensation for services." The result of physical and mental labor while lawfully employed—typically wages or salaries—falls under this definition as taxable gross income, unless a specific statutory exclusion applies. The IRC and CFR make no distinction between physical and mental effort; both are taxed as compensation. This has been the legal reality since the 16th Amendment and is enforced today, as of April 9, 2025.

https://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/general/2387349/trump-fires-senior-jewish-admiral-shoshana-chatfield-amid-pentagon-shake-up.html

Trump Fires Senior Jewish Admiral Shoshana Chatfield

U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, a Jewish woman, has been dismissed from her post as the U.S. military representative to the NATO Military Committee, three sources told Reuters on Monday.

The Pentagon has not yet confirmed the firing publicly, but multiple sources indicated that NATO allies have already been informed of Chatfield’s abrupt removal. Her ousting appears to be part of a broader shake-up within the national security establishment under the Trump administration, which has now purged several high-ranking officials in just a matter of days.

Chatfield, one of the Navy’s few female three-star officers, had been a trailblazer throughout her career. She was the first woman to lead the prestigious Naval War College, a position she held until 2023, and is a highly respected helicopter pilot who once commanded an expeditionary MH-60S Sea Hawk squadron.

Her dismissal follows the equally abrupt firing of General Timothy Haugh, head of the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command, last Thursday. Just days before that, Admiral Lisa Franchetti — the first woman to serve as Chief of Naval Operations — was also removed. Together, the moves signal what many now see as a sweeping internal purge of military leadership, with a particular focus on figures who have championed diversity or maintained strong ties to U.S. alliances abroad.

While no official reason has been given for Chatfield’s removal, one source told Reuters that it may be connected to the administration’s quiet campaign against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs within the Pentagon.

Chatfield’s firing is likely to unsettle NATO allies already wary of shifting American priorities. As the U.S. military’s top liaison to the NATO Military Committee, she played a central role in strategic coordination and alliance readiness.

https://insiderpaper.com/china-says-raising-tariffs-on-us-products-to-84-finance-ministry/

Kinda funny…china tarrifs are now 84%…up from 34 (makes me think drop #34

China retaliates with 84% tariffs on US products from Thursday

AFP April 9, 2025 7:39 am

China will impose 84 percent tariffs on US imports, up from 34 percent, the finance ministry said Wednesday, hours after similar levies by the United States came into force.

US President Donald Trump’s latest salvo of tariffs came into effect on dozens of trading partners Wednesday, including punishing 104 percent duties on imports of Chinese products.

Beijing has consistently opposed tariff rises and said Wednesday it would take “firm and forceful” steps to protect its interests.

Its finance ministry later said in a statement that “additional tariff rates” on imports originating in the United States would “rise from 34 percent to 84 percent”, effective from 12:01 pm on Thursday.

“The tariff escalation against China by the United States simply piles mistakes on top of mistakes (and) severely infringes on China’s legitimate rights and interests,” the ministry said.

Washington’s moves “severely damage the multilateral rules-based trade system”, it added.

In a separate statement, Beijing’s commerce ministry said it would blacklist six American artificial intelligence firms, including Shield AI Inc. and Sierra Nevada Corp.

The companies had either sold arms to Taiwan or collaborated on “military technology” with the island, the commerce ministry said.

Are people ever going to improve? It's like we have always been morons. I'm reading the Bible right now. And the Apostles, God bless them, but Jesus performs miracle after miracle and they still can't understand the big picture and fall into doubt. Like being unable to cast out a devil due to lack of faith when Jesus told them they had the power to do so. Or worrying about the wind on a boat while Christ slept. Lots of examples.

Frustrating.

I feel so good about things when I'm on this board. "Hey, some smart anons here…I think we will be alright" I'll even give the occasional X post credit. Though I hate how /pol/ and qresearch have pretty much become rss feeds for X, but that's a whole other topic. You talk to Anons here..ok..doing good. Then go out into the real world. People have no clue! No clue! Even your average Trump supporter…at least the ones around me, support him for the wrong reasons. Muh guns. Don't know anything else about him. Muh guns is all they need. Or blinded by liberal hate, but don't understand Republican policies. Maddening.

Am I smarter than anyone? Absolutely not. My gift is observance. I just want to know if and when we figure it all out as a people. Tired of attacking each other over ideas someone else came up with. Being manipulated constantly. Falling for the easiest sins. Disappointing God.

>I dont know why this just now clicked with me.

>When they showed all the Social Security numbers still active, despite the age groups being old, it almost implied that these millions of still existing numbers were ALL collecting social security.

>Now it makes sense. Some of them are. Not all, but some, probably alot

>The reason they showed us this is because this will be part of the election fraud disclosure bomb. They literally use millions and millions of SSN's of dead people to make the fake ballots and create fraud votes

Also….

Fake IDs/names for employers so illegals can get jobs. Employers collect federal income tax and SS from these illegal employees and transmit to IRS. But these people will never collect the SSI when they age, because they have to get a new SS/Name every 1-2 years when the IRS sends the employer a notice that the name/number have a problem.

Tons of illegals using fake Names/SSNs are paying into the system to fund USGov and Social Security …. which is ironic…. If they came legally, they could eventually collect Social Security.

One heck of a way to lower future SS payments in the budget !! Simply screw those people that contributed… by encouraging them to be illeals…

Some probably slip thru the cracks and collect.

Game On Losers

European Union approves first set of retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports

PUBLISHED WED, APR 9 20259:18 AM

WATCH LIVE

KEY POINTS

The European Commission, the bloc’s executive arm, said duties would start being collected from April 15. The response package was unveiled last month targeting a range of goods.

The European Union on Wednesday voted to approve its first set ofretaliatory measures to counter tariffs imposed by the U.S. on steel and aluminum.

The European Commission, the bloc’s executive arm, said duties would start being collected from April 15. The response package was unveiled last month targeting a range of goods.

The 27-nation bloc had warned it would act to protect European business and consumers after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed 25% duties on the metals.

“The EU considers US tariffs unjustified and damaging, causing economic harm to both sides, as well as the global economy. The EU has stated its clear preference to find negotiated outcomes with the US, which would be balanced and mutually beneficial,” the European Commission said. (Reciprocal tariffs are unjustified.Tariffs for me and not for thee. The EU has a lot more to lose than the U.S.)

The EU also faces tariffs of 20%, along with over 180 countries and territories, as announced by the White House leader on April 2.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the time said the EU was ready to retaliate unless negotiations with the U.S. administration were successful.

“We are prepared to respond,” she said, adding that the EU was preparing for further countermeasures to protect its interests and businesses. But, von der Leyen also called for talks with the U.S., saying it was “not too late to address concerns through negotiations.”

Maros Sefcovic, the EU’s commissioner for trade and economic security, said Monday that the bloc would start collecting a first tranche of tariffs on U.S. imports from April 15, with a second set of measures following on May 15.

The U.S. tariffs are impacting 380 billion euros ($420.45 billion) worth of Europe’s exports to the United States, amounting to around 70% of total exports, Sefcovic said during a press briefing. (They never tell how much tariffs they charged America for the last 40+ years, I wonder why?)

“To put it in perspective, that’s over 80 billion euros in duties, an eleven-fold jump from the 7 billion [euros] the U.S. currently collects,” he added.

‘European aggression’ behind all global tragedies – Lavrov

Russia has long tried to warn the West against rewriting history, the foreign minister has said

Western European countries have once again “taken up arms” against Russia, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said, commenting on the increasingly hostile stance of many governments toward Moscow.

Addressing the constant calls to prepare for a presumed Russian attack – a notion which Moscow has dismissed as baseless – Lavrov said all previous global conflicts were sparked by similar aggressive actions from Europe.

“We are witnessing another wave in which Europe is taking up arms against Russia, and by the looks on some faces, even growling at Russia. After all… all global tragedies began with aggressive actions by Europeans: The Napoleonic Wars, World War I, and World War II,” he said in an interview for the TASS Children project released on Wednesday.

Lavrov added that during World War II, nearly all “neutral” European countries, in addition to those officially aligned with Nazi Germany, fought alongside Germany – including France.

“They did have a resistance movement, but like most other European countries, the official authorities in Paris meekly surrendered to the will of the victors… and French troops fought battles on the side of Hitler’s Germany, taking part in a number of punitive operations,” he said, adding that “there were many examples of this.”

Lavrov went on to say that France and the UK are “obsessed” with “defeating Russia on the battlefield,” as evidenced by the billions they have spent on Kiev’s war effort and recent discussions about deploying troops to Ukraine, supposedly in a peacekeeping role.

He accused the West, including Washington, of installing what he called an “openly Russophobic Nazi regime” in Ukraine as part of its goal of defeating Russia.

“Some want to quickly and finally erase from history the pages of their national shame, collaborationism, connivance with the Nazis,” he said.“While others see in Nazi ideology some new instrument for maintaining their positions on the European political scene.”

Lavrov added that Russia has long tried to warn the West against rewriting history.

“Consigning history to oblivion, one’s spiritual and moral values, one’s roots, if you will, all this has become one of the main reasons for what we are now seeing in Ukraine,” he said, in reference to the authorities in Kiev who honor World War II Nazi collaborators as national heroes and “undermine and denigrate” the role of the Soviet Union in defeating Nazi Germany.

“We will fight against this,” Lavrov said, expressing hope that “not everyone has forgotten the lessons of history.”

“Many leaders… are beginning to understand the dead end and catastrophic consequences,”he said, referring to attempts to defeat Russia.

Flynn:

"In warfare, for every action, there is a reaction followed by a counter action."

"The Chinese believe they are the masters of this, but in reality their political system is built on a foundation of quicksand."

"The CCP under Xi is under extraordinary pressure and will not lose “face” but could lose a hell of a lot more."

"Like those on the left in America, their arrogance will be their downfall."

_______

"In warfare, for every action, there is a reaction followed by a counter action."

That sounds exactly like the Hegelian/Marxist dialectical triad: thesis, antithesis, synthesis, or, negation, negate the negation, and negation negated.

"The Chinese believe they are the masters of this"

The CCP's entire operating system is architecturally dependent on that very same kernel logic as allegedly completely describing reality, as if they can take hold of the infinity of God's mind in their finite mortal minds of 'revolutionary consciousness" of communism. They can't help but perceive their consciousnesses and of the world's people's consciousnesses in this hubristic pattern.

And that is precisely why and how they will bring about their own downfall. By seeking to replace the infinity source code potential of a one source of it all kernel with finite consciousnesses like humanity's where we should be recognizing and accepting our natures as incomplete systems, that we cannot take hold of completeness without guaranteeing internal inconsistency within ourselves, instead, the CCP's arrogance of doubling and tripling down 'to save face' will indeed bring about their own downfall.

Has any anon noticed that in recent days, the CCP has been compelled to publicly accuse America of doing to China, what the CCP have themselves been doing to America and the Chinese people? The CCP have been publicly attacking America tariffs as attacks on other nation's economic development. Thereby the CCP is openly admitting that their own tariffs on America and other nations have been attacks on those nation's economic development!

The CCP is now literally and openly attacking the CCP's own internal logic.

And that my frens is what I believe Flynn was speaking to.

When a finite system, no matter how large and complex like the CCP, believes it is reaching the infinity using the false idol godless logic of Hegel/Marx, when it believes it is taking hold of completeness over or in the world, it is guaranteed to output inconsistencies. Kurt Godel mathematically proved this about all complex systems, indeed the bigger and more complex it is, like the CCP, the higher the likelihood it will output inconsistencies, about itself and its 'other'.

And if you know the dialectical playbook, if you know that the anti-god false idol logic compels all systems to eventually display internal inconsistency with itself, you can know how to get it to dismantle itself on its own recognizance.

You just allow it to be forced to incur more and more of the costs of its own 'externalizations', its projection tendencies of blaming the other for the consequences of its own actions, as it performs the very thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis kernel logic pattern ON ITSELF.

The CCP is now the world's foremost critic of the CCP's tariffs and manipulation of other nation's economies. The CCP is now openly admitting that its own tariffs on other nations are a naked attack on those other nation's economic development.

Nobody forced the CCP to say this. The CCP said it precisely because in their arrogance and hubris they couldn't help but 'think' in terms of the false idol dialectical god that shaped their own historical development. They can't help but think along that same dialectical pattern that they believe should always work, as long as they remain the 'masters' it (in their own minds), as the alternative is to admit to 'sin' against the UNIFIED natural pattern of the one source of it all that has finite incomplete systems everywhere in the universe, and to ask for forgiveness for having caused destruction to "win", destruction from fentanyl to virus bioweapons and decades long tariffs.

Anything and everything to 'save face' as they destroy themselves.

So have at it CCP, believe you can do the mathematically proved as impossible. Believe that you can forever externalize the consequences of your own internally inconsistent operating system. Believe that you can continue to accelerate your admitting that what YOU are YOURSELVES doing is what you are openly declaring those actions to be, attacks on economic development. See how the world perceives THAT pattern of admission of your own destruction for the sake of your own temporary power and profit.

Attack yourselves to your own destruction, as that is your choice of self-determination. Go ahead and keep repeating the same failed dialectical god logic of thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis that has all along been sourced by your own arrogance in perceiving yourselves as gods but was all along in fact an inconsistent logic that would eventually bubble up to the surface and appear as you destroying yourselves.

Think long and hard how you want to be known in history. Do you want to be known as the greatest failure of government ever in human history? Do you want to be remembered as the source of your own destruction?

Does the current US constitution, excluding amendments, differ in anyway to the original of 1787?

The current U.S. Constitution, excluding amendments, is identical to the original document as ratified in 1787 (and effective 1789) in terms of its text—Articles I through VII. No changes have been made to that core body through formal amendment or revision. However, there are nuances around its presentation and historical context that might seem like differences but aren’t substantive alterations to the ratified text. Let’s break it down.

The Original 1787 Constitution

Drafted: Written at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, May to September 1787.

Ratified: Signed on September 17, 1787, and ratified by nine states (the required threshold) by June 21, 1788, with full effect March 4, 1789.

Structure: Seven articles:

Legislative branch (Congress).

Executive branch (President).

Judicial branch (Supreme Court and inferior courts).

States’ relations and powers.

Amendment process.

Federal supremacy, oaths, debts.

Ratification process.

Text: About 4,543 words, including preamble and signatures, per the engrossed copy held at the National Archives.

Current Constitution (Excluding Amendments)

Textual Identity: The body of the Constitution—Articles I-VII—as printed today (e.g., in official U.S. Code publications or government websites) matches the 1787 engrossed text word-for-word, barring minor orthographic updates. No article has been repealed, rewritten, or added to via amendment.

Source: The engrossed parchment, penned by Jacob Shallus, is the authoritative original, preserved with faded ink but intact wording.

Potential Points of Confusion

While the core text hasn’t changed, here’s where perceived differences might arise:

Spelling and Punctuation:

18th-century English used variant spellings (e.g., "chuse" for "choose," "controul" for "control") and inconsistent capitalization (e.g., "Senate" vs. "senate"). Modern printings standardize these for readability—e.g., U.S. Government Publishing Office versions—but the meaning stays the same. This isn’t a legal change, just typographic convention.

Example: Article I, Section 2 originally says "chuse," now often printed as "choose." No substantive shift.

Signatures and Attestation:

The original ends with 39 delegates’ signatures and a note from George Washington. Some modern reprints omit these for brevity, but they’re part of the 1787 text and remain in official records.

Contextual Interpretation:

The original applied to 13 states; today, it governs 50. Provisions like Article IV, Section 3 (new states) enabled this expansion, but the text itself didn’t change—only its scope grew.

Slavery references (e.g., Article I, Section 2, Clause 3’s "three-fifths" rule) are still there, though rendered obsolete by the 13th Amendment. Excluding amendments, the wording persists.

Physical Document vs. Legal Text:

The engrossed copy has faded; some words (e.g., "Pensylvania") reflect 1787 spelling quirks. Digital or printed versions correct these visually but not legally.

Amendments’ Role

Your question excludes amendments, but it’s worth noting they’ve altered how the original operates—e.g., the 12th (1804) changed presidential elections, the 17th (1913) shifted Senate elections to popular vote. These modify application, not the Articles’ text itself. Without amendments, you’re left with the 1787 framework, unedited.

Verification

National Archives: The engrossed 1787 text is publicly viewable, transcribed as: "We the People of the United States…" through Article VII’s ratification clause. Compare it to today’s Constitution (pre-amendment section) in any legal source (e.g., 1 U.S.C.), and the wording aligns.

Congressional Records: No act has amended Articles I-VII directly; all changes are appended as amendments.

Conclusion

Excluding amendments, the current U.S. Constitution does not differ in substance from the 1787 original. The text of Articles I-VII remains unchanged—same words, same structure. Minor spelling or style updates in modern printings don’t alter its legal content. As of April 9, 2025, it stands as ratified, a testament to its endurance. If you’re eyeing a specific clause or theory about hidden edits, toss it my way, and I’ll check it out!

The shooting Saturday in Pocatello outraged the boy’s family and neighbors as well as viewers online who questioned why the officers opened fire within about 12 seconds of exiting their patrol cars while making no apparent effort to de-escalate the situation or use less lethal weapons. The Setup: A Secret Pact with China. The "tariff war" with China is not what people think.

In the shadows of global power, Donald Trump and Chinese leadership have forged a secret alliance. The 34% or higher tariffs China imposed on the U.S. aren’t retaliation—they’re a staged act in a geopolitical drama.

The Setup: A Secret Pact with China:

"In the shadows of global power, Donald Trump and Chinese leadership have forged a secret alliance. The 34% tariffs China imposed on the U.S. aren’t retaliation—they’re a staged act in a geopolitical drama. Trump and China are partners, targeting the real enemy: the European/UK financial elites, known as the “deep state globalists.” These elites control institutions like the Bank of England and the European Central Bank, manipulating global markets to siphon wealth from the U.S. through trade agreements and financial schemes, keeping America economically subservient while they hoard riches offshore.

Trump, aware of this since his first term via classified briefings, knew a direct attack on these elites would fail—they’re too entrenched, shielded by political puppets in London and Brussels. So, he devised a plan: use China as a proxy to create chaos in global markets, forcing the deep state to reveal their weaknesses in a high-stakes economic game.

The Chess Game: Tariffs as a Market Trap:

The 34% tariffs from China, paired with Trump’s threat of 50% tariffs, are designed to disrupt the global economy. Trump knows the European/UK elites have billions invested in U.S. and Chinese markets. By staging this tariff escalation, he forces them to react—moving money, adjusting portfolios, and exposing their strategies. It’s a chess game, with Trump three moves ahead.

Step 1: Create Panic. The tariff threats spark market volatility. U.S.-China trade stocks—like tech and manufacturing—plummet. The elites, fearing losses, shift assets to “safe” havens: gold, cryptocurrencies, or markets they control.

Step 2: Track the Moves. Trump, with U.S. intelligence loyalists, monitors every financial move, logging transactions and offshore transfers. The elites think they’re outsmarting the chaos, but they’re walking into a trap.

Step 3: Strike When Vulnerable. Once the elites overcommit, Trump and China “resolve” the trade war on April 9th, 2025, with a surprise deal. Markets rebound, but the elites, having bet against the market, face massive losses. Trump’s allies in the U.S. and China buy up devalued assets—companies, real estate, and more—at a fraction of their worth.

The Endgame: Dismantling the Deep State.

With the elites weakened, Trump dismantles their power. The “other countries” he mentions—Russia, India, Saudi Arabia—share grudges against the Western financial system. Trump forges new trade alliances, bypassing the European/UK-centric order. The deep state loses control of the IMF and World Bank, which Trump reforms into America-first systems, rewriting global finance rules.

The Secret Alliance with China: A Double Bluff:

The twist: China isn’t the enemy—it’s Trump’s partner. They’ve allied to take down the European/UK deep state. China gains new markets and a weaker Western system, while Trump breaks globalist control, fulfilling his “Make America Great Again” vision. The tariff war is a distraction, hiding the real plan.

Why the Deep State Falls for It:

The European/UK elites underestimate Trump, seeing him as impulsive, not strategic. They believe the tariff war is real, reacting predictably and exposing their vulnerabilities. Trump’s rhetoric about China’s “abuses” is theater, keeping the public and media distracted while the real game unfolds.

The Wildest Twist: A New World Order:

With the deep state’s empire in ruins, Trump and China reshape global trade, dominating as partners. The European/UK elites are sidelined, their influence shattered. Trump’s “negotiations with other countries” form a new economic bloc, excluding London and Brussels. The deep state scrambles to survive, while Trump cements his legacy as the man who toppled the world’s invisible rulers—under the guise of a trade war."

Ukraine ‘betrayed’ its history – Lavrov

Under Western influence, the nation was plunged into a “social amnesia,” forgetting its Russian roots and ideals, Russian FM has claimed

Ukraine has “betrayed” its own history by allowing the West to bring a Nazi regime to power in Kiev, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said. In an interview for the TASS Children project released on Wednesday, the diplomat said the West’s actions were deliberate, aimed at bringing about a “strategic defeat” of Russia.

“The forgetting of history, their spiritual and moral values, their roots, if you like, all this has become one of the main reasons for what we are now seeing in Ukraine,” he said, referring to the ongoing conflict, which he described as one that pitted the authorities against their own people from the outset.

Lavrov accused theWest of trying to rewrite history by “instilling oblivion of Russian roots”and promoting ideas in Ukrainian society that led to what he called “social amnesia.”

“This was used by the Americans and Europeans to bring an openly Russophobic Nazi regime to power in Ukraine that declared war against its own people, seizing power through an illegal coup d’etat, calling those who disagreed with this coup terrorists, and starting a real war against them,” he said.

Lavrov noted thatamong European countries, there are two views on confronting their own history with Nazism– some seek to “quickly erase the pages of their national shame,” while others see Nazi ideology as a “tool for maintaining their positions on the European political scene.” He pledged that Russia would continue to fight both trends.

“Our ambition is to ensure that this sacred memory never leaves history, never leaves the memory of all generations, that it remains unchanged. And we are convinced of our historical, moral and human rectitude,” he concluded.

Commemorations of World War II-era nationalist figures with ties to Nazi Germany have been common in Ukraine. Ukrainians hold annual torchlight marches in honor of Stepan Bandera, a leader in the militant Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), which collaborated with Nazi Germany and was involved in the massacre of more than 100,000 Poles, Jews, Russians, and Soviet-aligned Ukrainians.Less than two months ago, the Ukrainian city of Rivne marked the 120th birthday of Ulas Samchuk, a Nazi collaborator and anti-Semitic propagandistwho welcomed the mass killings of Jews during the war.

Moscow has repeatedly warned of a Nazi revival in Ukraine, citing “denazification” as a central aim of its military operation against Kiev. Western officials and media, however, have largely downplayed such concerns, often dismissing the allegations as “Russian propaganda.”

https://www.rt.com/russia/615429-ukraine-betrayal-russian-history/

The Nazis will ultimately overrule and attack the European countries, so the rise of Hitler’s plan has come again.

Are you aware of what type of rock that is?

It is an igneous rock, that is it is formed from the cooling of magma or lava. For a footprint to leave an impression such as that the foot would be exposed to temperatures of up to 1300°C (2372F).

Ukrainian national team goalie ‘hoped Ovechkin’s legs would be torn off’

Eduard Zakharchenko made the comments before the Russian star broke the NHL scoring record

The goaltender of the Ukrainian national hockey team, Eduard Zakharchenko, wished that Russian star Alexander Ovechkin would be maimed before he could break the National Hockey League’s all-time scoring record.

The Washington Capitals forward tied the record last Saturday in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks before breaking it the next day on the road against the New York Islanders.

A day before the game against the Blackhawks, Zakharchenko spoke to Ukrainian news outlet Sport24ua. Asked about Ovechkin, the goalie smiled and said he hoped “his legs will be torn off and he won’t succeed.”

Zakharchenko went on to say that Ovechkin “does not deserve the admiration of the public,”pointing to the conflict between Moscow and Kiev. He acknowledged, however, that he was following Ovechkin’s pursuit of the record, as were other members of the Ukrainian national team.

“In any case, it’s a world record. But I wouldn’t want [Ovechkin] to [succeed]. I’m completely satisfied with Gretzky,” he said.

Ovechkin is a three-time world champion with the Russian national team and took home the 2018 Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals, which he has spent his entire NHL career with.

Gretzky, who is widely regarded as the greatest hockey player of all time, needed 1,487 games to tally 894 goals. Ovechkin tied the record in his 1,486th game and broke it in the next.

After breaking the record, Ovechkin thanked his teammates, coaches, and fans. “All of you fans, all the world, Russia… We did it boys, we did it!”he said.

Zakharchenko was born in the Russian city of Vladivostok before later moving to Ukraine with his family. He started his adult hockey career in Russia’s third league. In 2017,he was suspended from all competition by the International Ice Hockey Federation over allegations of match-fixing in a game Ukraine played against South Koreaat the World Championship. Ukraine’s hockey federation banned him for life.

He was later pardoned in Ukraine after his international ban expired and re-joined the national team in 2021.

HH 49: Interstellar Jet from Webb

What's at the tip of this interstellar jet? First let's consider the jet: it is being expelled by a star system just forming and is cataloged as Herbig-Haro 49 (HH 49). The star system expelling this jet is not visible it is off to the lower right. The complex conical structure featured in this infrared image by the James Webb Space Telescope also includes another jet cataloged as HH 50. The fast jet particles impact the surrounding interstellar gas and form shock waves that glow prominently in infrared light shown here as reddish-brown ridges. This JWST image also resolved the mystery of the unusual object at HH 49's tip: it is a spiral galaxy far in the distance. The blue center is therefore not one star but many, and the surrounding circular rings are actually spiral arms.

Court Delivers Massive Blow To Famed Climate Scientist, Michael Mann, Who Sued Critics

Climate scientist Michael Mann filed a libel lawsuit against journalist Mark Steyn and the National Review in 2012 for criticizing Mann and his ‘hockey stick’ graph. Critics believe the Mann’s lawsuit aimed to silence the climate debate. Mark Steyn was ordered to pay Mann $1 million in punitive damages. The National Review filed a Special Motion to Dismiss under Washington, DC’s Anti-SLAPP Act — a law that is designed to protect the First Amendment and ensure that litigants such as Mann are unable to use the legal system to punish their critics. The National Review won its case and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia ruled in January that Mann owes National Review $530,000 to cover the outlet’s legal fees. Mann’s request to postpone the payment has been denied.

After a decade of wasteful expenditure, the US military is ending its “climate change crap”

By Rhoda Wilson on April 9, 2025

Hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent by the US military on unsuccessful initiatives such as the Navy’s Great Green Fleet programme. Now, it is coming to an end.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth believes that climate change mitigation efforts have no measurable effect on global temperatures and do not improve military readiness. “The Dept of Defence does not do climate change crap. We do training and warfighting,” he said.

The new policy is to redirect funds to strengthen the US military. “So begins a new age of realistic military policy and an end to more than 15 years of wasteful climate change spending,” Steve Goreham writes.

Please note: We take the view that what was, and sometimes still is, the “global warming” narrative and is now, sometimes, the “climate change” narrative is a scam.

Throughout the following article, Goreham uses measurements of carbon dioxide emissions as if they are meaningful. We do not believe carbon dioxide emissions are causing a climate change crisis, nor that there is any meaningful way to measure carbon dioxide emissions; they are all tentacles of the climate change scam.

Further reading:

A Primer on CO2 and Energy, David Siegel

The imaginary “climate crisis” is a product of climate activists and click-bait media

David Siegel: “It’s clear that CO2 has almost nothing to do with climate” (video embedded in the article is no longer available, you can watch it HERE)

UN’s unprecedented effort to reduce CO2 is really about “green finance” which will be devastating to societies if we don’t stop it

Having said all that, Gorehams’ article is interesting because it demonstrates how the climate change scam is not sustainable and the narrative, as with all lies, is catching itself out. It is also another indication that the climate change era is coming to an end, for the USA at least.

Israeli Military Walks Back Story of How Gaza Paramedics Were Killed After Video of Attack Surfaces

Gaza: On March 23rd, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) shot 15 Palestinian paramedics and rescue workers to death and buried them in a shallow grave. Initially, the IDF claimed that it opened fire because the emergency vehicles were “advancing suspiciously” on nearby troops without headlights or emergency signals. However, video from the phone of Rifat Radwan, one of the Palestinians that was killed, refuted the claim. The video shows a red fire engine and clearly marked ambulances driving at night, using headlights and flashing emergency lights. The vehicle stops beside another that has driven off the road. Two men get out to examine the stopped vehicle, then gunfire erupts before the screen goes black. The aid workers were buried in a mass grave. There was evidence of at least one person being detained and killed, as the body of one of the dead had been found with his hands tied.

The shootings happened one day into the renewed Israeli offensive, after it broke the ceasefire agreement as Phase 2 approached that required Israel to end its occupation of Gaza in exchange for 25 remaining Israeli hostages. The AP reported that Netanyahu would have been plunged in political crisis if he allowed a permanent ceasefire as extreme right-wing Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich had threatened to leave the coalition if Netanyahu progressed to Phase 2 instead of restarting the offensive.

Trump issued a new executive order in late March on the “Immediate Declassification of Materials Related to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s

Crossfire Hurricane Investigation.” In it, Trump referenced the prior thwarted executive order of his from his final full day in office during his first

term, with Trump saying last month that “I have determined that all of the materials referenced in the Presidential Memorandum of January 19, 2021…are no

longer classified.”

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/03/immediate-declassification-of-materials-related-to-the-federal-bureau-of-investigations-crossfire-hurricane-investigation/

Trump’s January 2021 order mentioned a binder of materials related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation that Trump said the Justice Department

provided to the White House at his request on Dec. 30, 2020.

“I hereby declassify the remaining materials in the binder. This is my final determination under the declassification review and I have directed the

Attorney General to implement the redactions proposed in the FBI’s January 17 submission and return to the White House an appropriately redacted copy,”

Trump had said on Jan. 19, 2021.

The 2021 memo from Trump noted he had “determined that the materials should be declassified to the maximum extent possible.” But the FBI said in

mid-January 2021 that the bureau had “identified the passages that it believed it was most crucial to keep from public disclosure.”

https://web.archive.org/web/20210120004421/https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/memorandum-declassification-certain-materials-related-fbis-crossfire-hurricane-investigation/

The Justice Department under Attorney General Merrick Garland never released the records despite the declassification order from Trump and the

last-minute memo from Meadows. It remains to be seen when the Justice Department and FBI will follow through on Trump’s new executive order —

and how much new information will be made public.

Kiev summons China’s charge d’affaires

Ukraine has claimed it has captured two Chinese nationals fighting for Russia in Donbass

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has summoned China's chargé d'affaires in Kiev over what it claims is Beijing’s involvement in the conflict with Russia, Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga announced on Tuesday.

Earlier, the same day, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky claimed that Kiev’s forces had captured two Chinese nationals that were supposedly “part of the Russian army.”

The development “puts into question China’s declared stance for peace and undermines Beijing’s credibility as a responsible permanent member of the UN Security Council,” Sibiga said in a statement published on X, adding that his ministry demanded “an explanation.”

His statement came after Zelensky posted a video of a man in military fatigues using gestures and unintelligible sounds. The Ukrainian leader claimed in an X post that Kiev’s forces “captured two Chinese citizens” in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Zelensky referred to it as “the Donetsk Region,”calling it “Ukrainian territory.”

The DPR officially joined Russia along with three other former Ukrainian territories in 2022 following a series of referendums, which Kiev has not recognized.

According to Zelensky, Ukrainian forces have also obtained “identification documents, bank cards and personal data” of the alleged Chinese nationals. “We are currently verifying the facts,”he added. He also demanded an immediate reaction from the US, Europe and anyone “who wants peace.”

Neither China, Russia, the US nor the EU have officially commented on Kiev’s claims.

Ukraine has repeatedly accused other nations of aiding Russia, accusing Iran of providing drones and North Korea of sending troops. Washington and its allies had also previously claimed that Pyongyang had sent some 12,000 soldiers to Russia for training, and for possible deployment in the Ukraine conflict.

Tehran has repeatedly denied accusations and insisted that it supports neither side in the conflict.

Russia and North Korea struck a security deal last year that involved pledges to assist one another in case of an armed attack. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it was up to the two nations to decide how they fulfil their mutual commitments under the treaty.

https://www.rt.com/russia/615412-ukraine-captured-chinese-nationals/

Ukraine would be wise to back off China, they can do more damage than Kiev can stand. That’s the arrogance of Kiev leaders. They are always lying and whining about something,it’s so unfair no one treats them as an equal country, because they are not. They can’t even fund their own useless war.

Inside the mine housing the federal government's retirement records, now in DOGE's spotlight

Updated April 7, 2025, 4:27 PM PDT

BOYERS, Pa. — As you ride in a golf cart into the mouth of the Iron Mountain limestone mine, the temperature change is immediately noticeable.

The natural climate control provided by the rough-hewn stone walls of the decommissioned mine — a day’s drive from the nation's capital and about an hour outside Pittsburgh — helped make it an ideal site for the federal government to process and store retirement records beginning in 1960.

Sixty-five years later, when so much is now done online, this mine is largely still how the Office of Personnel Management manages the documents of the 100,000 or so retirements from federal service each year.

Processing a retirement can take months, with a single missing signature sometimes setting the task back days or weeks.

“It is still done on paper,” said Alita Haniwalt, an OPM program manager in retirement claims. “I think it becomes overwhelming because there are no two retirements that are the same.”

Over the years, the warehouse-like OPM space inside the mine — which is 220 feet underground — has accumulated more than 400 million individual records, spread across 26,000 file cabinets, in some places stacked 10 high.

Cardboard boxes and paper files in manila envelopes seem to sprout from shelves and pile up on tables as they’re shuttled from station to station.

In the days following President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the mine quickly drew the attention of Elon Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency.

Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, a Tesla board member and Musk friend, said he was recruited to the project after he walked into a meeting where it was already being discussed.

“They were talking about how it’s a place where all the papers are stored for a manual retirement process. It’s been around for decades.

It’s been tried to be digitized for decades, unsuccessfully, and it’s a painful, slow process,” Gebbia said. “And they turn and look at me and go: 'Joe, you know how to build digital products with great user experience. Can you help us?'”

NBC News was granted rare and exclusive access to the mine Monday, when DOGE staffers arrived to tour it and plan the next steps in modernizing the OPM operation there.

In February, under the direction of DOGE, OPM staffers processed their first all-digital, no-paperwork federal retirement. The team was given a one-week goal, and it completed the retirement in two days.

“It really became a proof point and a rallying cry to everyone to say this is possible. Now we get to go build the product behind that and actually do something that’s scalable,” Gebbia said.

Matt MacIsaac, who runs day-to-day operations at the mine for OPM, said that while Musk’s Oval Office invocation of his workplace as a location ripe for a DOGE overhaul initially surprised him, he supported the modernization push.

“We’re ready to make this process better, make it more efficient and really get what we need for the civil servants,” said MacIsaac, who has worked for OPM since 2009 and in the mine since 2016.

Gebbia said the overhaul won’t involve closing the mine office, where 450 OPM employees work. The larger Iron Mountain facility bills itself as "a highly secure and resilient location" not only for storing records, but also as a data center.

“So the mine will always be here, and so will these paper records, but we can build a process where there’s no new paper added to the mine, step one, and step two, we can build a process where no paper has to leave the mine,” Gebbia said.

Gebbia said federal retirees could see changes as early as May 1. "We're working at startup speed, so we're working through iterations right now, and our next one will be testing with retirees on May 1," he said. "We're moving at an incredible pace."

White House ordered to reinstate AP access

The news agency was barred from the press pool over a dispute over how the Gulf of Mexico is named

A federal judge has ordered the White House to restore access for the Associated Press to presidential events. The news agency was kicked out of the press pool for refusing to adopt the term “Gulf of America” for what has traditionally been known as the Gulf of Mexico.

Reporters from AP, one of the world’s oldest, were barred from Air Force One and the Oval Office after in February the agency declined to use “Gulf of America,” the name designated by US President Donald Trump for the body of water bordering the southeastern coast of North America. It opted to stick with the traditional term Gulf of Mexico, arguing that it is well established and recognized across the globe.

Trump himself has lashed out at the AP, branding it “a radical left organization.” In response to the ban, the agency filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging that the exclusion violated First Amendment protections of press freedom.

White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich has argued that while the agency’s right to “dishonest reporting” is protected by law, it does not have a “privilege of unfettered access to limited spaces” where certain presidential events take place.

On Tuesday, US District Judge Trevor McFadden ruled in favor of the AP, stating that the government cannot exclude journalists from presidential events based on their editorial decisions. The White House has until the end of the week to appeal the order.

In his ruling, McFadden stressed that the court does not order the government to grant the AP permanent access to presidential events and “does not bestow special treatment” upon the agency.

“The AP is not necessarily entitled to the ‘first in line every time’ permanent press pool access it enjoyed… But it cannot be treated worse than its peer wire service either,” he said, noting that the order does not impose any rules on government officials about who they give interviews to or whose questions to take.

AP spokeswoman Lauren Easton welcomed the decision, noting that the ruling “affirms the fundamental right of the press and public to speak freely without government retaliation.” Meanwhile, AP Executive Editor Julie Pace wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal that the lawsuit was much bigger than a dispute over a body of water. “It’s really about whether the government can control what you say,” she said.

Trump tariff shock sends oil to four-year low

Crude has dropped below $60 a barrel as markets brace for the fallout of the trade war and weaker global demand

Oil prices have dropped to their lowest point in over four years, with losses deepening on Wednesday as markets respond to fears of recession and slowing energy demand.

Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell to about $61 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped to around $58, both reaching their lowest levels since February 2021.

The slide began after US President Donald Trump announced a round of sweeping tariffs on most imports last week. Since then, prices have tumbled around 16%, as concerns grow that a global trade war could damage growth and reduce fuel consumption. The situation escalated on Wednesday when Trump’s tariffs took effect. While energy imports were exempt, the markets reacted sharply.

The new round of tariffs brings the rate on Chinese goods to 104%, up from the 34% initially announced. China had responded with a matching 34% tariff, prompting the White House to raise the stakes.

China’s Commerce Ministry vowed to respond decisively, raising fears of a broader economic slowdown. Analysts worry that prolonged tensions between the two top economies could drag down trade and stifle investment.

OPEC and its allies, including Russia, added pressure to the market by announcing a 411,000 barrel-per-day production increase for May. Analysts say this could lead to oversupply and deepen price drops.

“Crude oil has been in free-fall ever since President Trump unveiled fresh tariffs on US imports Wednesday evening,” Trade Nation senior market analyst David Morrison said in a note seen by Business Insider. He added the OPEC+ production boost was a “double whammy.”

Morrison said oil prices may stabilize within a narrow range, as investors anticipate weaker demand and strong supply. He noted this trend supports Trump’s goal of providing cheap energy to strengthen manufacturing.

The White House has pushed to bring crude prices down to $50 or lower, according to J.P. Morgan. Trump reinforced this goal on Monday, writing on Truth Social: “Oil prices are down, interest rates are down,” while highlighting the benefits of his trade strategy.

Russia was left out of the new tariffs. The White House explained that the existing sanctions already “preclude any meaningful trade,” making further restrictions unnecessary.

However, Russia’s central bank warned that the collapse in oil prices and the expanding trade conflict could harm its economy. “If the escalation of the tariff wars continues, this usually leads to a decline in global trade and the global economy, and possibly, demand for our energy resources,” central bank head Elvira Nabiullina said on Tuesday.

Russia’s Urals crude also dropped sharply, briefly nearing the $50-per-barrel mark for the first time in almost two years, before recovering to around $67.

NASA nominee Jared Isaacman faces Senate confirmation hearing

04/09/25 9:52 AM ET

Tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, President Trump’s pick to lead NASA, will testify before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee on Wednesday morning.

Isaacman, who previously worked with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to test the company’s new spacesuits on the first private spacewalk. He helped fund the flight and was one of four people aboard.

The confirmation hearing comes less than a month since the return of NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who spent more than nine months on the International Space Station after the Boeing Starliner mission was upended by aircraft issues.

The president suggested last month that he would pay overtime costs to them for their trouble.

Senators will also question Olivia Trusty on her nomination to become a member of the Federal Communications Commission.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.

NASA Welcomes Bangladesh as Newest Artemis Accords Signatory

Apr 08, 2025

ollowing a signing ceremony Tuesday in Bangladesh’s capital city of Dhaka, NASA congratulates Bangladesh as the 54th nation to commit to the safe and responsible exploration of space that benefits humanity.

“We are thrilled by Bangladesh’s signature of the Accords,” said NASA acting Administrator Janet Petro. “Bangladesh affirms its role in shaping the future of space exploration.

This is about ensuring that our journey to the Moon – and beyond – is peaceful, sustainable, and transparent.

We look forward to working together, to learning from one another, and to seeing how Bangladesh’s incredible talent and vision contribute to humanity’s next great chapter in space.”

Ashraf Uddin, the secretary of defense for Bangladesh, signed the Artemis Accords on behalf of the country.

Charge d’Affaires Tracey Jacobson for the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, participated in the event, and Petro contributed remarks in a pre-recorded video message.

“Bangladesh’s commitment to the Artemis Accords will enhance the country’s engagement with NASA and the international community,” said Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.

“By signing the accords, Bangladesh builds upon an important foundation for the open, responsible and peaceful exploration of space.”

In 2020, the United States, led by NASA and the U.S. Department of State, and seven other initial signatory nations established the Artemis Accords, a first-ever set of practical guidelines for nations to increase safety of operations and reduce risk and uncertainty in their civil exploration activities. That group of signatories has grown to more than 50 countries today.

The Artemis Accords are grounded in the Outer Space Treaty and other agreements, including the Registration Convention and the Rescue and Return Agreement, as well as best practices for responsible behavior that NASA and its partners have supported, including the public release of scientific data.

AI is pro-Western – Russia’s human rights chief

Neural networks have become “powerful propaganda machines,” according to Valery Fadeyev

Foreign artificial intelligence systems are pushing Western ideological narrativesand could serve as powerful propaganda and censorship tools, Valery Fadeyev, the head of the Russian Human Rights Council, has stated.

Speaking at a roundtable on AI threats on Tuesday, Fadeyev said thathe and his team had tested foreign neural networks by asking questions about hot-button political issues– including the breakup of Yugoslavia and the Ukraine conflict. After the test run,he concluded that “we are on the brink of an ideological and informational catastrophe.”

“The texts that these chatbots produce contain ideologically charged content. They are ideologically driven Western texts. Powerful, unprecedented propaganda machines have been created,” he argued.

According to the human rights chief, the responses provided by foreignAI platforms are largely based on Western sources and filter out non-Western perspectives. He argued that this violates the Russian Constitution, which stipulates the freedom of access to information. “In practice, when we use neural networks, we receive pre-censored information, so it is probably unwise to talk about freedom of access to information here.”

Fadeyev argued thatthe influence of AI is now stronger than that of some traditional US-funded state media outlets, for which US President Donald Trump has cut funding.

“Many observers were optimistic – perhaps this is a sign of a new relationship with the US.But why would the Americans need Voice of America or Radio Liberty when they now have in their hands this colossal power – this ideological weapon?”he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that homegrown AI systems have been incredibly effective in improving security and state governance, stressing that the country must become a world leader in this domain. In 2023,he warned that Western-produced AI systems should not be allowed to dominate the Russian market.

NASA photo strikingly captures devastation of Gyeongsang wildfires

09 Apr. 2025, 18:33

A U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) picture showed the devastating aftermath of last month's massive wildfires that broke out in North Gyeongsang last month, with a horizontal brown scar stretching across the southeastern region of the peninsula in a satellite image released Tuesday.

The image, captured on Friday by NASA’s high-resolution Earth observation satellite Landsat 9, uses a combination of visible and shortwave infrared bands to distinguish between burned areas and unburned vegetation.

NASA previously released another satellite image on March 22, a day after the wildfire broke out in Uiseong, showing a large smoke plume near Andong.

Based on data from fire and thermal anomaly detections, the agency confirmed the fire had spread to the East Sea coast by March 25.

"Light rain moved over the area and helped officials contain the blaze by March 28," said NASA. "Smoke and clouds ultimately cleared, allowing Landsat 9 to observe a burned area stretching more than 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the coastline."

The scale of the wildfire can also be inferred from estimated greenhouse gas emissions. On Tuesday, the National Institute of Forest Science estimated that the wildfires that burned between March 21 and 30 in the Gyeongsang region released approximately 3.66 million tons of greenhouse gases.

Based on the affected area of 48,239 hectares (119,201 acres), the agency estimated emissions of 3.245 million tons of carbon dioxide, 272,000 tons of methane and 143,000 tons of nitrous oxide, released primarily from the combustion of tree leaves and branches.

The amount accounts for about 9.2 percent of the annual net greenhouse gas absorption by Korea’s forests, which stands at 39.87 million tons. It is equivalent to 34.36 million mid-sized cars driving round-trip between Seoul and Busan.

The Korea Forest Service plans to release a detailed report on the actual area and volume of forest damage on Monday, following the completion of ongoing on-site inspections.

While the actual damage area often turns out to be smaller than the initially announced, in some cases, the final assessment reveals greater damage.

“If the actual area and volume of burned forest turn out to be larger than expected, the estimated greenhouse gas emissions could also increase,” said an official from the National Institute of Forest Science.

This is the sixth super-pressure balloon campaign held in New Zealand since 2015 and NASA is planning two test flights this year. Two balloons were successfully launched from Wānaka during NASA’s last visit in 2023.

NASA will begin flight preparations in the early-morning hours tomorrow (Thursday April 10) and will continue to evaluate real-time and forecast weather conditions throughout the morning.

If weather is favourable for launch, lift-off is scheduled between 9.00am and 1.00pm local time.

Public access to Wānaka Airport and roadside parking beside the airport is not permitted on the morning of the launch attempt.

State Highway 6 Wānaka-Luggate Highway from Mt Barker to Church Road and State Highway 8A Shortcut Road will be closed for the launch.

Light vehicles may detour via Camp Hill Road. Heavy vehicles will detour via Cemetery Road. A message board will be installed on State Highway 84 notifying of motorists of the closure status.

Immediately after lift-off, the balloon will be visible for kilometres around – the best viewing points will be on the hill on the Hāwea side of the Red Bridge by Kane Road or on the Hāwea Flat side of the Clutha River.

Sols 4505-4506: Up, up and onto the Devil’s Gate

Apr 08, 2025

Earth planning date: Monday, April 7, 2025

Over the weekend, we completed our drive up the steep side of a canyon, up onto “Devil’s Gate,” a small butte which forms part of the ridge along the top of the canyon and now we can see down into the next canyon.

It is always true that we are going somewhere no one has been before – that's the idea of an exploratory mission after all, and everyone kind of gets used to it, we don't stop to think about it.

But today, coming over the top of a hill like this and fully looking for the first time into an area that we have only had glimpses of before, it really brings it home that the mission is doing something extraordinary, something out of this world …. and brings that feeling of awe back into focus.

We did not pass SRAP (Slip Risk Assessment Process) a couple of times as we climbed up the side of this canyon, meaning that the contact science instruments (APXS and MAHLI) had to stand down for that day’s planning.

However, this morning, in addition to a brand new vista, we saw that all six wheels are firmly on the ground and we passed SRAP quickly this morning, which must have been a relief to the rover planner in charge of assessing it today! (no one wants to be the bearer of bad news, day after day!)

Bedrock here has both flat bedrock and amazing large nodular features, which appear to have “wind tails” caused by winds consistently blowing in the same direction.

This is a Touch and Go plan, so APXS and MAHLI are focusing on a single target, the brushed “Coronado” target on the flat bedrock in front of us.

ChemCam will use LIBS to investigate the nodular features at “La Cumbre Peak.”

Near the rover, Mastcam will image some small diagenetic features at “Boulder Oaks” and the LIBS target.

The 3x2 (2 rows of 3 images) “La Jolla Valley” mosaic focuses on a very nodular patch, just outside of the workspace reachable by the arm.

Further from the rover, the 6x2 mosaic (2 rows of 6 images) “Los Penasquitos” looks at an amazing almost vertical vein.

This discontinuous vein stretches for about 6 meters (about 18 feet), with vein fins sticking above the surface at various points, like a series of shark fins breaking the bedrock surface.

Much further afield, ChemCam will acquire a long distance image on "Condor Peak,” which appears to have large scale vein networks, known as “boxwork structures” and may be an early example of the boxworks we are hoping to reach in Fall 2025.

The ENV (Environmental and Atmospheric group) planned a Mastcam “tau” measurement, to look at dust in the atmosphere.

There is a paired Navcam activity, looking at dust devils towards the north of the crater on the first sol and towards the south on the second sol.

A suprahorizon movie and our usual DAN and REMS measurements round out this plan.

Let’s see what the next drive will reveal to us!

EU and UK at odds with US over Ukraine peace efforts – Russian diplomat

President Trump has caused a “serious chasm” in the West, as other nations pursue conflicting goals, Dmitry Polyansky has warned

The UK and the EU are pursuing objectives in the Ukraine conflict that clash with Washington’s pro-peace efforts, according to Russia’s deputy envoy to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky.

In an interview with RT on Tuesday, Polyansky stated that US President Donald Trump’s call for a negotiated resolution of the conflict – viewed by Moscow as a Western proxy war against Russia –has created a rift with European allies who are unwilling to alter their positions.

Ukraine is in fact a private military company which is fighting for Western geopolitical interests,”he said. The Trump administration’s policy shift has caused a “serious chasm in the Western camp. But the interests of the UK, for example, and Brussels … have not changed.” (A private military company, who is paying for it?)

European officials supporting Kiev are both frustrated and anxious, Polyansky noted, but they also exhibit “a great degree of wishful thinking,” publicly claiming that “things are going their way.” He expressed confidence that Trump’s desire for peace is genuine and will not be undermined by other actors.

While Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has a history of acting at the behest of foreign interests,Polyansky asserted that the military situation heavily favors Russia. He indicated that theUkrainians “understand that they don't have any cards” to playandtheir limited options include enlisting “some of the great powers to fight directly with Russia or to involve the United States to pressure Russia.”

Kiev and its European allies are conveying to Trump that Moscow is not negotiating in good faith, Polyansky remarked. He pointed out that during the Tuesday UN Security Council session on Ukraine, European representatives were urging Washington to take decisive action against Russia.

Polyansky criticized Western officials for turning a blind eye to Ukrainian violations of a US-mediated moratoriumon attacks against energy infrastructure, noting that Washington appears reluctant to address this issue publicly.

The diplomat asserted that Trump is in a good position to resolve the crisis by confronting its root causes. The US leader “has all the means to do it, but he has to understand and to do something about the true colors of the Kiev regime, which is cheating, which is deceiving, and which is just fulfilling the geopolitical interests of the others,” he said.

Perhaps Trump’s “supposed” reluctance is due to Kiev’s intent to blow up the world with nuclear explosions and they don’t win.

Sixty Years in Canberra: NASA’s Deep Space Network

Apr 08, 2025

Deep Space Station 43 (DSS-43), a 230-foot-wide (70-meter-wide) radio antenna at NASA’s Deep Space Network facility in Canberra, Australia, is seen in this March 4, 2020, image.

DSS-43 was more than six times as sensitive as the original antenna at the Canberra complex, so it could communicate with spacecraft at greater distances from Earth.

In fact, Canberra is the only complex that can send commands to, and receive data from, Voyager 2 as it heads south almost 13 billion miles (21 billion kilometers) through interstellar space.

More than 15 billion miles (24 billion kilometers) away, Voyager 1 sends its data down to the Madrid and Goldstone complexes, but it, too, can only receive commands via Canberra.

As the Canberra facility celebrated its 60th anniversary on March 19, 2025, work began on a new radio antenna.

Canberra’s newest addition, Deep Space Station 33, will be a 112-foot-wide (34-meter-wide) multifrequency beam-waveguide antenna.

Buried mostly below ground, a massive concrete pedestal will house cutting-edge electronics and receivers in a climate-controlled room and provide a sturdy base for the reflector dish, which will rotate during operations on a steel platform called an alidade.

When it goes online in 2029, the new Canberra dish will be the last of six parabolic dishes constructed under NASA’s Deep Space Network Aperture Enhancement Program, which is helping to support current and future spacecraft and the increased volume of data they provide.

The network’s Madrid facility christened a new dish in 2022, and the Goldstone, California, facility is putting the finishing touches on a new antenna.

On Tuesday,US District Judge Trevor McFaddenruled in favor of the AP, stating that the government cannot exclude journalists from presidential events based on their editorial decisions. The White House has until the end of the week to appeal the order.

In his ruling,McFadden stressed that the court does not order the government to grant the AP permanent access to presidential events and “does not bestow special treatment” upon the agency.

“The AP is not necessarily entitled to the ‘first in line every time’ permanent press pool access it enjoyed… But it cannot be treated worse than its peer wire service either,” he said, noting that the order does not impose any rules on government officials about who they give interviews to or whose questions to take. (The Press should have lost their unfettered access when the started the first Russia Hoax, and piled on with many hoax’s thereafter.)

AP spokeswoman Lauren Easton welcomed the decision, noting that the ruling “affirms the fundamental right of the press and public to speak freely without government retaliation.”Meanwhile, AP Executive Editor Julie Pace wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal that the lawsuit was much bigger than a dispute over a body of water. “It’s really about whether the government can control what you say,” she said.

(Trump needs to get rid of the EO of Obama that allows the press to propagandize on America soil, once and for all!)

Eclipses, Science, NASA Firsts: Heliophysics Big Year Highlights

Apr 08, 2025

One year ago today, a total solar eclipse swept across the United States. The event was a cornerstone moment in the Heliophysics Big Year, a global celebration of the Sun’s influence on Earth and the entire solar system.

From October 2023 to December 2024 — a period encompassing two solar eclipses across the U.S., two new NASA heliophysics missions, and one spacecraft’s history-making solar flyby — NASA celebrated the Sun’s widespread influence on our lives.

Annular Solar Eclipse

An annular (or “ring of fire”) solar eclipse occurred Oct. 14, 2023, and kicked off the Helio Big Year with a bang.

Millions of people across North America witnessed the Moon crossing in front of the Sun, creating this brilliant celestial event. NASA’s live broadcast had more than 11 million views across different platforms.

Before the eclipse, NASA introduced the 2023 Eclipse Explorer, an interactive map to explore eclipse details for any location in the United States.

NASA shared tips on eclipse safety, including through a video with NSYNC's Lance Bass and even with an augmented reality filter.

Scientists also studied conditions during the annular eclipse with sounding rockets, balloons, and amateur radio.

Total Solar Eclipse

On April 8, 2024, millions of people across North America experienced a total solar eclipse that darkened parts of 15 U.S. states in the path of totality.

Ahead of the event, NASA hosted a widespread safety campaign, handed out over 2 million solar viewing glasses, and produced an interactive map to help viewers plan their viewing experience.

On eclipse day, NASA also hosted a live broadcast from locations across the country, drawing over 38 million views.

Researchers studied the eclipse and its effects on Earth using a variety of techniques, including international radar networks, scientific rockets, weather balloons, and even high-altitude NASA WB-57 jets.

Several NASA-funded citizen science projects also conducted experiments. These projects included more than 49,000 volunteers who contributed an astounding 53 million observations.

“We have opened a window for all Americans to discover our connection to the Sun and ignited enthusiasm for engaging with groundbreaking NASA science, whether it’s through spacecraft, rockets, balloons, or planes,” said Kelly Korreck, a Heliophysics program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

“Sharing the excitement of NASA heliophysics with our fellow citizens has truly been amazing.”

Science Across the Solar System

NASA’s heliophysics missions gather data on the Sun and its effects across the solar system.

The Atmospheric Waves Experiment (AWE) mission launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida Nov. 9, 2023, and was installed on the International Space Station nine days later.

This mission studies atmospheric gravity waves, how they form and travel through Earth’s atmosphere, and their role in space weather.

On Nov. 4, 2024, the Coronal Diagnostic Experiment (CODEX) mission also launched to the space station, where it studies the solar wind, with a focus on what heats it and propels it through space.

The Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM) mission ended after 16 years studying Earth's highest clouds, called polar mesospheric clouds.

NASA’s Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) also ended after three successful years studying the outermost layer of Earth’s atmosphere, called the ionosphere.

Voyager has been operating for more than 47 years, continuing to study the heliosphere and interstellar space. In October 2024, the Voyager 1 probe stopped communicating.

The mission team worked tirelessly to troubleshoot and ultimately reestablish communications, keeping the mission alive to continue its research.

While the goal of the NASA heliophysics fleet is to study the Sun and its influence, these missions often make surprising discoveries that they weren't originally designed to.

From finding 5,000 comets to studying the surface of Venus, NASA highlighted and celebrated these bonus science connections during the Helio Big Year.

Solar Maximum

Similar to Earth, the Sun has its own seasons of activity, with a solar minimum and solar maximum during a cycle that lasts about 11 years.

The Helio Big Year happened to coincide with the Sun's active period, with NASA and NOAA announcing in October 2024 that the Sun had reached solar maximum, the highest period of activity.

Some of the largest solar storms on current record occurred in 2024, and the largest sunspot in nearly a decade was spotted in the spring of 2024, followed by a colossal X9.0 solar flare Oct. 3, 2024.

Viewers across the U.S. spotted auroras in their communities as a result of these storms, proving that you can capture amazing aurora photography without advanced equipment.

The Big Finale: Parker's Close Approach to the Sun

NASA's Parker Solar Probe holds the title as the closest human-made object to the Sun. On Dec. 24, 2024, Parker made history by traveling just 3.8 million miles from the Sun's surface at a whopping 430,000 miles per hour.

"Flying this close to the Sun is a historic moment in humanity’s first mission to a star,” said Nicky Fox, associate administrator, Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters.

Parker Solar Probe’s close approach capped off a momentous Heliophysics Big Year that allowed NASA scientists to gather unprecedented data and invited everyone to celebrate how the Sun impacts us all.

In the growing field of heliophysics, the Helio Big Year reminded us all how the Sun touches everything and how important it is to continue studying our star’s incredible influence.

A Big Year Ahead

Though the Helio Big Year is over, heliophysics is only picking up its pace in 2025. We remain in the solar maximum phase, so heightened solar activity will continue into the near future. In addition, several new missions are expected to join the heliophysics fleet by year’s end.

The PUNCH mission, a set of four Sun-watching satellites imaging solar eruptions in three dimensions, and EZIE, a trio of Earth-orbiting satellites tracing the electrical currents powering Earth’s auroras, have already launched.

The LEXI instrument, an X-ray telescope studying Earth’s magnetosphere from the Moon, also launched through NASA's CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative.

Future missions slated for launch include TRACERS, which will investigate the unusual magnetic environment near Earth’s poles, and ESCAPADE, venturing to Mars to measure the planet’s unique magnetic environment.

The last two missions will share a ride to space. The Carruthers Geocorona Observatory will look back at home, studying ultraviolet light emitted by the outermost boundaries of our planet’s atmosphere.

The IMAP mission will instead look to the outermost edges of our heliosphere, mapping the boundaries where the domain of our Sun transitions into interstellar space.

Liberation theology is a theological approach emphasizing the "liberation of the oppressed". It engages in socio-economic analyses, with social concern for the poor and "political liberation for oppressed peoples"[1] and addresses other forms of perceived inequality.

Liberation theologies were first being discussed in the Latin American context, especially within Catholicism in the 1960s after the Second Vatican Council. There, it became the political praxis of theologians such as Frei Betto, Gustavo Gutiérrez, Leonardo Boff, and Jesuits Juan Luis Segundo and Jon Sobrino, who popularized the phrase "preferential option for the poor".[2][3]

The option for the poor is simply the idea that, as reflected in canon law, "The Christian faithful are also obliged to promote social justice and, mindful of the precept of the Lord, to assist the poor." It indicates an obligation, on the part of those who would call themselves Christian, first and foremost to care for the poor and vulnerable.[4]

Its roots can be traced to precursors like Catholic Action and the influence of the Second Vatican Council, which inspired new approaches to addressing systemic poverty and inequality in Latin America.[5]6. While its theological framework centers on interpreting the Gospel through the lens of the oppressed, liberation theology also drew from broader socialist and anti-imperialist movements.

Latin America also produced Protestant advocates of liberation theology, such as Rubem Alves,[7][8] José Míguez Bonino, and C. René Padilla, who in the 1970s called for integral mission, emphasizing evangelism and social responsibility.

Drank Coke my whole life up until my first girlfriend. Her dad solely drank Pepsi and I asked him what was up with that, Coke was obviously better I told him, in sales and popularity in the city where we lived. He just laughed and challenged me to drink Pepsi for just a month and then switch back to Coke and tell him what I thought. So I took his challenge and after a month of drinking Pepsi had that first Coke and it tasted bitter, didn't taste as good. So, from 16 on I drank Pepsi, but mix for alcohol was always Coke, because it tasted better as mix with whisky that Pepsi. Go figure.
