“The biggest target for fraud rings tends to be community colleges and lower-cost institutions,” Jason Williams, an official with the Education Department's Office of Inspector General, said on a recent agency podcast. “This is because their tuition costs are lower than other schools, which increases the student aid award balance for the fraudulent student.”

The U.S. Court of International Trade incredibly ruled against the United States of America on desperately needed Tariffs but, fortunately, the full 11 Judge Panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Court has just stayed the order by the Manhattan-based Court of International Trade.

Where do these initial three Judges come from? How is it possible for them to have potentially done such damage to the United States of America?

Is it purely a hatred of “TRUMP?” What other reason could it be?

I was new to Washington, and it was suggested that I useThe Federalist Societyas a recommending source on Judges.

I did so, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb ofa real “sleazebag” named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America, and obviously has his own separate ambitions.

He openly brags how he controls Judges, and even Justices of the United States Supreme Court — I hope that is not so, and don’t believe it is!

In any event, Leo left The Federalist Society to do his own “thing.” I am so disappointed in The Federalist Society because of the bad advice they gave me on numerous Judicial Nominations.

This is something that cannot be forgotten!With all of that being said, I am very proud of many of our picks, but very disappointed in others.

They always must do what’s right for the Country!

In this case, it is only because of my successful use of Tariffs that many Trillions of Dollars have already begun pouring into the U.S.A. from other Countries, money that, without these Tariffs, we would not be able to get.

It is the difference between having a rich, prosperous, and successful United States of America, and quite the opposite. The ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade is so wrong, and so political!

Jeffrey Epstein’s newly-revealed private calendar showed scheduled meetings with the current CIA director, a college president and attorney who served in the Obama administration, according to a report published Sunday.

New documents, which belonged to the rich convicted pedophile and were obtained by The Wall Street Journal, showed planned meetings with a slew of prominent individuals, including now-CIA Director William Burns, Bard College president Leon Botstein, Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and professor Noam Chomsky.

All the scheduled meetings were slated to take place after Epstein was jailed in 2008 on charges of solicitation, including soliciting a minor. WSJ could not prove each scheduled meeting actually took place, and the documents did not reveal the purpose for the meetings.

A spokesperson for Burns, who has taken the CIA’s helm since 2021 under the Biden administration, said the nation’s spy chief met with Epstein a decade ago when he was trying to leave the government.

"Director Burns recalls being introduced by a mutual friend in Washington, DC, and then met with him once briefly in New York City, about a decade ago as the Director was preparing to leave government service," CIA spokeswoman Tammy Kupperman Thorp said in comment provided to Fox News Digital.

"The Director did not know anything about him, other than he was introduced as an expert in the financial services sector and offered general advice on transition to the private sector. The Director does not recall any further contact, including receiving a ride to the airport. They had no relationship."

Ruemmler had dozens of meetings with Epstein following her work for the Obama administration and before taking the reins as Goldman Sachs' top lawyer in 2020, according to WSJ. The documents show Epstein was planning on Ruemmler joining him for a trip to Paris in 2015 and another visit to his private island in the Caribbean in 2017.

A Goldman Sachs rep told the outlet that Ruemmler had a working relationship with Epstein when she was employed at law firm Latham & Watkins LLP, but did not travel with Epstein. The spokesperson said Epstein introduced Ruemmler to potential legal clients, such as Bill Gates.

"Many of Ms. Ruemmler's contacts related to a potential representation involving the Gates Foundation, a representation of the Edmond de Rothschild bank, and other business opportunities," a Goldman Sachs spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Sunday.

"I regret ever knowing Jeffrey Epstein," Ruemmler said, according to WSJ.

The Journal reported that the majority of people they spoke to said they met with Epstein for donations or to make powerful connections. Botstein, who has served as Bard College’s president since 1975, said he met with Epstein to try to get him to donate to the liberal arts school.

"I was an unsuccessful fundraiser and actually the object of a little bit of sadism on his part in dangling philanthropic support," Botstein told the outlet. "That was my relationship with him."

Other prominent figures on the documents included:

Ariane de Rothschild, chief executive of the Swiss private bank Edmond de Rothschild Group; Joshua Cooper Ramo, who at the time served on the boards of Starbucks Corp. and FedEx Corp; former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak; Harvard University professor Martin Nowak; and anthropologist Helen Fisher.

Are these trees growing on Mars? No. Groups of dark brown streaks have been photographed by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter on melting pinkish sand dunes covered with light frost. The featured image was taken in 2008 April near the North Pole of Mars. At that time, dark sand on the interior of Martian sand dunes became more and more visible as the spring Sun melted the lighter carbon dioxide ice. When occurring near the top of a dune, dark sand may cascade down the dune leaving dark surface streaks – streaks that might appear at first to be trees standing in front of the lighter regions but cast no shadows. Objects about 25 centimeters across are resolved on this image spanning about one kilometer. Across the country, Americans are being forced to rethink major financial decisions in the face of rising costs, high interest rates, and ongoing economic uncertainty, according to Guardian Service.

In a recent survey of 1,000 people, 35% said they’ve delayed or canceled a big purchase this year—most commonly a home (22%) or a car (8%). Millennials (40%) and Gen Z (32%) were especially likely to put plans on hold. The leading causes? Widespread anxiety about the economy (63%), high interest rates (57%), and unaffordable prices (55%).Some are shifting expectations entirely—12% have scaled back their “dream home” goals, and nearly 1 in 4 now see renting as a better financial move than buying in 2025.

These shifting priorities extend beyond big-ticket items to everyday protections like insurance. When budgets are stretched, even essential coverage can feel expendable. Nearly 1 in 4 Americans (24%) said they’ve reduced coverage for a home or car to save money, and 29% reported downgrading or canceling at least one type of insurance over the past year.

Car insurance saw the largest cuts, with 15% scaling back and 8% switching from full coverage to liability only—moves that reduce costs but also increase financial risk.

The decisions behind these changes often stem from a desire to create short-term financial relief, even at the expense of long-term security. “A third of Americans said they would temporarily go without insurance to cover essential expenses,” and 1 in 5 would consider dropping coverage entirely if premiums continue to rise.

Guardian Service writes that at the same time, insurance is still widely valued—77% said car insurance is essential, and 57% said the same for renters or homeowners insurance. Trust, however, remains an issue, with only 37% saying they fully trust insurers to come through when something goes wrong.

The study is clear: as Americans adjust their budgets and weigh tough trade-offs, they’re showing a clear willingness to prioritize immediate needs over long-term plans.

The former head of NASA has said that the space agency is "being savaged," in response to proposed cuts by the Trump administration.

Bill Nelson, NASA administrator from 2021 to 2025, said: "If they continue on the path that they're on, it will be a crippled agency."

NASA has been working on plans to bring astronauts back to the moon for the first time since 1972 with the Artemis program, and to build the Lunar Gateway space station on the moon for long-term lunar scientific exploration.

These plans are now on hold amid a proposed Republican budget that would cut as much as half of NASA's science funding.

President Donald Trump's budget request to NASA, which must be debated by Congress before October 1, called for the agency to "terminate unaffordable missions," cut "woke" education programs and implement a "more sustainable, cost-effective approach to lunar exploration."

Overall, the budget proposes reducing the agency's annual budget from $24.9 billion to $18.8 billion.

Newsweek has contacted NASA for comment via email outside of working hours.

Why It Matters

The Trump administration says that the proposed reductions are necessary to rein in excessive spending, eliminate underperforming projects, and reorient NASA toward more cost-efficient private partnerships.

The White House has highlighted examples such as the $4 billion-per-launch cost of the Space Launch System, NASA's expendable heavy-lift rocket.

What Happens Next

ESA leaders are looking to work on projects that do not rely on American money or American political decision-makers, turning to work with India and Japan, and possibly even China, instead.

Senator Ted Cruz, chair of the Senate Commerce Committee which oversees NASA's budget, has supported Artemis in the past, so it is not certain that NASA's budget will be cut by as much as the Trump administration's proposal by the October 1 deadline.

Rights Rolled Back

Three years ago, a Trump-appointed supermajority on the Supreme Court ripped away the constitutional right to reproductive freedom, overturning Roe v. Wade and unleashing a wave of cruelty, chaos and suffering across our nation. Ever since that shameful day, Republican lawmakers have only intensified their assault: banning or severely restricting access to abortion in state after state, and putting IVF, contraception and even emergency care in jeopardy.

Democrats are not backing down. The rise in abortion numbers since Roe’s fall is proof that bans don’t end abortion—they only endanger women’s lives. That’s why Democrats are fighting to make the Women’s Health Protection Act the law of the land, restoring Roe and ensuring that every woman in every zip code can access the care she needs.

Names Change, Truth Doesn’t

As Americans honor the courage and contributions of LGBTQ+ figures during Pride Month, the Trump Administration has chosen a different path: erasure. Today, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the USNS Harvey Milk will be renamed—removing the name of a proud Navy veteran and civil rights pioneer in a move they claim is meant to “take politics out of ship-naming.”

There is nothing apolitical about stripping the name of Harvey Milk from a Navy vessel. This act of revisionism is not about honoring military valor, but about silencing progress. Harvey Milk fought for the dignity of all people—and in San Francisco, we take great pride that his name stood alongside titans like John Lewis, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Thurgood Marshall. As efforts to erase these heroes intensify, our resolve must match theirs: to keep fighting for a country that honors every American who worked to make it better.

Love Always Wins

Ten years ago this week, the Supreme Court issued its landmark decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, affirming that marriage is a constitutional right for all Americans, regardless of who they love. It was a joyful and long-overdue victory for equality, dignity and justice.

Years later, when that hard-won progress came under renewed threat, the Democrstic Congress responded. The Respect for Marriage Act, signed into law in 2022, bolstered Obergefell by requiring all states to recognize valid same-sex marriages and by repealing the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act once and for all. Enshrining it in law remains one of my proudest moments as Speaker.

San Francisco Signed

Eighty years ago, the nations of the world came together in San Francisco to sign the United Nations Charter—a solemn commitment to peace, progress and the dignity of every human being. As the proud Representative of that great city, I take special pride in honoring this milestone on the very floor where we carry forward its vision. The War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, where the Charter was signed, remains hallowed ground for diplomacy and hope. President Truman’s words from that day still ring true: “You have created a great instrument for peace and security. The world must now use it.”

Ever since that moment in 1945, the United Nations has served as a beacon for the world: advancing human rights, fighting hunger and disease, empowering women and girls and confronting the climate crisis and refugee emergencies with resolve. Eleven Nobel Peace Prizes have honored the UN’s tireless work. This week, as the General Assembly convened to revive the “spirit of San Francisco,” let us recommit to the values that gave birth to the United Nations.

Farthest 'mini-halo' ever detected could improve our understanding of the early universe

While analyzing a 10 billion-year-old radio signal, astronomers discovered a "mini-halo" — a cloud of energetic particles — around a far-off cluster of galaxies. The unexpected findings could further our understanding of the early universe.

This mini-halo is the most distant one ever detected, located twice as far from Earth as the next-farthest mini-halo. It is also massive, spanning more than 15 times the width of the Milky Way, and contains strong magnetic fields.

The findings have been accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal Letters and are available on the preprint server arXiv.

"It's astonishing to find such a strong radio signal at this distance," Roland Timmerman, a radio astronomer at Durham University who co-led the study, said in a statement.

How did the mini-halo form?

Mini-halos are faint groups of charged particles that emit radio and X-ray waves in the vacuum of space between galaxies.

They have been detected around galaxy clusters in the local universe, but never as far back in space and time as the one reported in the new study.

There are two theories that could explain the collection of particles, according to the researchers.

One possible cause is the supermassive black holes at the centers of large galaxies within the distant cluster.

These black holes can shoot high-energy particles into space, but it's not clear how the particles would travel away from a powerful black hole and into a mini-halo without losing significant energy.

Another possible means of creation is the collision of charged particles within the plasma in a galaxy cluster.

When these high-energy particles smash into each other, often at close to the speed of light, they can break apart into the kinds of particles that can be seen from Earth.

Implications for astronomy

Observations of the mini-halo come from light so old that it changes the picture of galaxy formation, proving that these charged particles have surrounded galaxies for billions of years longer than was known.

"Our discovery implies that clusters of galaxies have been immersed in such particles since their formation," Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo, an astrophysicist at the University of Montréal who also co-led the research, told Live Science in an email.

It's "something which we were not expecting at first."

Scientists can now study the origin of these mini-halos to determine whether black holes or particle collisions are responsible for them.

These particles also have a hand in other astrophysical processes, like star formation. They can affect the energy and pressure of the gas within a galaxy or couple with magnetic fields in unique ways.

These processes can keep clouds of gas from collapsing, in turn altering how stars form in the gas.

"We are still learning a lot about these structures, so unfortunately the more quantitative picture is still very much in development," Timmerman told Live Science in an email.

New radio telescopes, like the SKA Observatory, are in development to help astronomers detect even fainter signals and learn about mini-halos.

"We are just scratching the surface of how energetic the early Universe really was," Hlavacek-Larrondo said.

The U.S. Court of International Trade incredibly ruled against the United States of America on desperately needed Tariffs but, fortunately, the full 11 Judge Panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Court has just stayed the order by the Manhattan-based Court of International Trade.

Where do these initial three Judges come from? How is it possible for them to have potentially done such damage to the United States of America?

Is it purely a hatred of “TRUMP?” What other reason could it be?

I was new to Washington, and it was suggested that I useThe Federalist Societyas a recommending source on Judges.

I did so, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb ofa real “sleazebag” named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America, and obviously has his own separate ambitions.

He openly brags how he controls Judges, and even Justices of the United States Supreme Court — I hope that is not so, and don’t believe it is!

In any event, Leo left The Federalist Society to do his own “thing.” I am so disappointed in The Federalist Society because of the bad advice they gave me on numerous Judicial Nominations.

This is something that cannot be forgotten!With all of that being said, I am very proud of many of our picks, but very disappointed in others.

They always must do what’s right for the Country!

‘Secret tunnels’ under Greenland may be the safest place if war breaks out

Deep below the thick ice of Greenland lies a labyrinth of tunnels that were once thought to be the safest place on Earth in case of a war.

First created during the Cold War, Project Iceworm saw the US plan to store hundreds of ballistic missiles in a system of tunnels dubbed ‘Camp Century’.

Could the sprawling underground complex still be a safe place in case of war? At the time, US military chiefs had hoped to launch a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union during the height of Cold War tensions if things escalated.

But less than a decade after it was built, the base was abandoned in 1967 after researchers realised the glacier was moving.

The sprawling sub-zero tunnels have been brought back to attention after recent tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States have brought up the possibility of another World War.

Talk of World War 3 is nothing new. For years, tense geopolitical moments have stoked fears that we are on the brink of a catastrophic conflict.

But these fears were all too common years ago, during the Cold War, when Camp Century – the city under Greenland’s ice sheet – was made.

The underground three-kilometre network of tunnels was dubbed Century City and once played host to labs, shops, a cinema, a hospital, and accommodation for hundreds of soldiers.

Alex Gardner, a cryospheric scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said: ‘We were looking for the bed of the ice and out pops Camp Century.

We didn’t know what it was at first. In the new data, individual structures in the secret city are visible in a way that they’ve never been before.’

But the icy Greenland site is not without its dangers – it continues to store nuclear waste.

Assuming the site would remain frozen in perpetuity, the US Army removed the nuclear reactor installed on site but allowed waste, equivalent to the mass of 30 Airbus A320 aeroplanes, to be entombed under the snow.

But other sites around the world, without nuclear waste, could also serve as a safe haven in case of World War 3.

Wood Norton is a tunnel network running deep into the Worcestershire forest, originally bought by the BBC during World War 2 in case of a crisis in London.

Peters Mountain in Virginia, USA, serves as one of several secret centres also known as AT&T project offices, which are essential for the US government’s continuity planning.

Further north in the United States, Raven Rock Mountain Complex in Pennsylvania is a base that could hold up to 1,400 people.

And Cheyenne Mountain Complex in El Paso County, Colorado, is an underground complex boasting five chambers of reservoirs for fuel and water, and in one section, there’s even reportedly an underground lake.
