Trump issues fresh nuclear threat to Iran

The US president has warned Tehran that restarting uranium enrichment could trigger another round of airstrikes

US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran’s nuclear sites could be bombed again if it resumes uranium enrichment. Tehran, which insists its nuclear program is peaceful, has pledged to rebuild facilities hit in last month’s US-Israeli strikes.

Israel carried out a series of strikes against Iran in June, claiming Tehran was nearing completion of a nuclear weapon – an accusation Israeli officials have made for decades. Despite IAEA and US intelligence having failed to find evidence that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon, the US joined the attack, targeting Iran’s facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The strikes reportedly caused serious damage to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and killed dozens, including nuclear scientists and military personnel.

Last week, speaking to Fox News, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made clear that Iran would not abandon its nuclear program. He called enrichment an achievement of Iranian scientists and a matter of “national pride.”

Trump responded on Sunday, calling Iran’s stance “stupid” and threatened further strikes. “We wiped out their nuclear possibilities. They can start again. If they do, we’ll wipe it out faster than you can wave your finger at it,” he said.

Iran has repeatedly said it is not seeking nuclear weapons. “We are ready to do any confidence-building measure needed to prove that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and would remain peaceful forever, and Iran would never go for nuclear weapons,” Araghchi said last week.

He also rejected claims that Iran seeks to destroy Israel or has plotted to assassinate Trump.

The US-Israeli bombing campaign was condemned internationally. The UN warned of grave regional consequences, and a number of countries pointed to the illegal nature of the attack.

Russia has similarly described the strikes as “unprovoked aggression” and a violation of international law. Moscow has advocated for a diplomatic approach to the issue of Iran’s nuclear program.

The European Commission president failed to secure favorable trade terms for the EU, the Hungarian prime minister has said

US President Donald Trump dominated European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during trade negotiations, resulting in a bad deal for the EU, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.

The trade pact was finalized on Sunday following months of tense negotiations.

“This was no agreement… Donald Trump ate Ursula von der Leyen for breakfast,” Orban said on a podcast on Monday. “The European agreement is worse than the UK one. Setting it up for success will be difficult later on,” he argued.

Washington set a 10% tariff on British imports in its deal with the UK last month. By comparison, EU exports to the US will face 15% tariffs, while American goods sold in the EU will face no retaliatory duties.

Additionally, Brussels has pledged to invest another $600 billion in US industries, buy $750 billion worth of American energy, as well as purchase “hundreds of billions of dollars” in US weapons, according to Trump. Von der Leyen said these investments will take place over the next three years.

According to Orban, it is unclear who exactly will pay for this. The European Commission – the president of which signed the deal – lacks its own army and does not have the capital to buy US arms and energy resources, he said. “In whose name was the agreement made?” he asked.

Other officials in the EU also blasted the deal as lopsided.

French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou on Monday accused the bloc of caving to US coercion. Benjamin Haddad, France's minister in charge of European affairs, also criticized the “unbalanced” trade pact, and called on Brussels to retaliate economically.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned in a speech on Monday that the deal will “clearly” lead to the “further deindustrialization of Europe and capital flight.”

According to Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, “Trump wiped the floor with Europe.”

For Israeli consumers, however, the move may sound less dramatic. In Israel, for reasons of both economics and kosher certification, Coca-Cola has long been produced using regular sucrose, primarily derived from sugar beets rather than cane. For Israeli drinkers, then, the new cane-sugar version amounts to a change in source material, not chemical makeup—sucrose is sucrose, whether from beets or cane.

But in the U.S., where corn syrup has dominated for decades, the shift is significant: a costly logistical and branding change—and a political one, too.

The maniac gunman who killed at least five people at a Midtown office building on Monday evening was identified as a 27-year-old Las Vegas man, according to law enforcement sources.

Shane Tamura was named by sources as the shooter who stormed 345 Park Avenue, a swanky 44-floor building and opened fire, killing one police officer and at least four civilians.

The number of injured was expected to grow, the sources said.

Authorities found a vehicle with Nevada plates registered to Tamura at the scene, sources said.

A lot of reports claimed that Shane D Tamura, a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, harbored NFL hopes, but that ended in despair, prompting him to attack the NFL headquarters on 345 Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan. However, these reports are unverified, as the New York Police Department has not confirmed the motive yet.

Here we will look at Tamura's football career, which started at the Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita and ended at the Granada Hills Varsity Boys football team.

He totaled 1,346 all-purpose yards, averaging over 134 yards per game.
