Priscilla Chan (born February 24, 1985)[2] is an American pediatrician and philanthropist.[3] Chan has been married to Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder and chief executive of Meta Platforms, since May 2012. In December 2015, Chan and Zuckerberg founded the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative with a pledge to transfer 99 per cent of their Meta shares, then valued at $45 billion, to venture capital and philanthropic initiatives.

Early life and education

 

Chan was born in Braintree, Massachusetts,[4] and grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts. Her parents were ethnically Chinese refugees who fled Vietnam in boats.[5][6] Chan grew up speaking Cantonese and interpreted for her grandparents who raised her and her two younger sisters, Michelle and Elaine, while her parents worked.[7][8] Chan's father owned a restaurant in Massachusetts, which he later sold to run a wholesale fish company in 2006. Chan graduated valedictorian of her class from Quincy High School,[7] where she was involved with the FIRST Robotics Competition team #69 HYPER[9][10] and where she was the captain of the tennis team.[10] Her classmates voted her "Class Genius."[8]

 

Although her parents were supportive of college education, they were unfamiliar with the process, including the SAT exam.[8] Chan is the first college graduate in her family and has said that "education is an incredibly personal issue" for her, noting that "[i]f you're the first generation to go to college…sometimes you don't realize your potential until others point it out."[7][11] She credits her public school teachers with recognizing hers and for "getting me excited about learning."[11] Chan received a full scholarship to attend Harvard University.[12] Feeling out of place at the school, Chan planned to transfer to another institution; however, her involvement with the Franklin Afterschool Enrichment program, specifically an encounter with a young girl who had broken teeth, inspired Chan to stay and to become a pediatrician.[13][12] Chan once reflected: "I was devastated. I thought, 'What happened? What did I do wrong? I thought at the time, 'I am not enough yet. … I need more skills. I need more power to be able to solve this.' And so, when you're 20 years old and a type-A Harvard student, the answer is medical school."[12]

The Wow! Signal: New analysis closes in on mysterious source

  • The Wow! Signal was an unusual radio signal from space detected in 1977 by the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University.

  • Astronomers have re-analyzed the old data, including related observations not previously published.

  • It was not likely caused by terrestrial radio interference. It might have been a naturally occurring maser triggering a brief brightening in the hydrogen line of an interstellar gas cloud.

 

The Wow! Signal

Do you remember the Wow! Signal? It was a strong radio signal from deep space that the early SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) project at Ohio State University detected back on August 15, 1977.

The enigmatic signal seemed like it might have been artificial in nature. But unfortunately, it was only detected once. Now, researchers from the Arecibo Wow! project at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo have re-analyzed this fleeting blip from the cosmos.

 

Researchers released a study on August 15, 2025, based on the signal and decades of unpublished, but related observations.

First, the findings suggest it was not caused by terrestrial radio interference. Their leading hypothesis is that it was from a maser.

Masers are naturally occurring sources of stimulated spectral line emissions in the microwave portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The Wow! Signal might have been a maser in an interstellar cloud of gas.

 

Astrobiologist Abel Méndez at the Planetary Habitability Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo led the study.

The study used archival data from the Ohio State University SETI program. In addition, it also used modern signal analysis techniques not available at the time of the initial detection.

The researchers submitted their findings to The Astrophysical Journal for peer-review. In the meantime, you can read the preprint version of the new paper on arXiv.

 

A mysterious radio signal from space

On August 15, 1977, astronomers at Ohio State University participating in the university’s SETI project detected the mysterious signal using the Big Ear radio telescope. It appeared to come from the direction of the constellation Sagittarius.

Also, it seemed to have the characteristics that an artificial radio signal was expected to have, including being narrowband. Astronomer Jerry R. Ehman discovered the anomaly a few days later while reviewing the recorded data.

On the computer printout, he circled the signal’s intensity, “6EQUJ5”, and wrote the comment “Wow!” beside it. The signal lasted for the entire 72 seconds of the observation window.

However, the signal was never detected again. So what was it?

New analysis of old data

The researchers from the Arecibo Wow! project re-analyzed the old data. That included the signal itself, as well as related observational records not published before. Also, the study also used modern signal analysis techniques. So, what did this new analysis show?

For one thing, they provide a more precise location of the signal in the sky. Specifically, using two adjacent sky fields, it was centered at right ascensions 19h 25m 02s ± 3s or 19h 27m 55s ± 3s, and declination –26° 57? ± 20? (J2000).

Also, it suggested a stronger signal intensity of 250 Janskys (peak flux density of the signal). That is four times greater than previous estimates. Likewise, the analysis also revealed a frequency of 1420.726 MHz.

That is within the hydrogen line, but with a greater radial velocity – the line-of-sight velocity of a target with respect to an observer – than previously believed.

 

New clues to the WOW mystery

To be sure, the findings still don’t reveal what the Wow! Signal was, but they do provide clues. Méndez said:

Our results don’t solve the mystery of the Wow! Signal, but they give us the clearest picture yet of what it was and where it came from. This new precision allows us to target future observations more effectively than ever before.

This study doesn’t close the case. It reopens it, but now with a much sharper map in hand.

 

An astrophysical explanation?

Notably, the results of this new study suggest that the signal was not caused by terrestrial radio interference, as is often the case with unknown signals. On the other hand, it might not have been aliens.

The researchers hypothesize that it might have been caused by a sudden brightening in the hydrogen line of an interstellar gas cloud.

The hydrogen line – aka 21-centimeter radiation – is the electromagnetic radiation of radio wavelengths emitted by cold, neutral interstellar hydrogen atoms.

In fact, astronomers believe it’s an ideal wavelength for alien civilizations to send radio messages.

 

As for the Wow! Signal, a powerful transient radiation source such as a magnetar flare or soft gamma repeater (SGR) could have triggered the brightening. But it’s still a hypothesis at this point.

In fact, a maser could have produced a narrowband signal with similar characteristics as the Wow! Signal. Masers are naturally occurring sources of stimulated spectral line emissions, typically in the microwave portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Russia requests UN Security Council meeting on Nord Stream sabotage

Russia has requested an urgent UN Security Council meeting following the arrest of a Ukrainian man in Italy, allegedly involved in the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea in September 2022.

Explosions measuring 2.1 and 2.3 on the Richter scale ruptured lines laid to carry Russian gas to direct Germany, one of which was loaded.

Moscow has repeatedly accused Germany and neighboring countries of delaying the investigation and excluding Russia from the probe.

 

“We will highlight the delays in the German investigation and the absence of transparency,” Russian Deputy Ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyansky wrote on Telegram. He added that the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday.

On Thursday, Italian police detained a Ukrainian citizen, later identified in the media as former military officer Sergey Kuznetsov.

Prosecutors allege he coordinated a team that rented a yacht and planted explosives on the pipelines using commercial diving gear.

 

German investigators reportedly believe a small group of Ukrainians was behind the attack, a claim Moscow dismissed as “ridiculous.” Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested the US likely orchestrated the sabotage.

Last year, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service claimed it had “credible information” that US and British agents were involved in the plot.

The moon hung low over Annapolis, Maryland, on Friday night as US Marines stormed an AIRBNB housing Miles Taylor, the former chief of state at the Department of Security, who betrayed the nation in 2018 by authoring an anti-Trump manifesto under the pseudonym “Anonymous.” He later published a book titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration” that drew widespread condemnation for spreading blatant lies about President Trump and his first administration. He had also rallied to his cause ex-administration officials in a failed bid to capsize Trump’s presidency, a treasonous crime.

 

A military affidavit reviewed by RRN accuses Taylor of leaking classified data to foreign powers. “Miles Taylor is more than a leaker; he illegally possesses classified information and is a threat to national security,” part of it reads.

 

Taylor, a cybersecurity expert, had been on Trump’s radar since leaking the “anonymous” doctrine to the New York Times and being named an enemy of the United States in Kash Patel’s “Government Gangsters” book.

 

A White Hat source familiar with the arrest told Real Raw News that Trump authorized the military to surveil and apprehend Taylor, instead of using the FBI, because Taylor still had friendly contacts within the US intelligence apparatus that could’ve warned him about his looming detainment, which seemingly happened despite the FBI being out of the loop.

 

Taylor, described to RRN as a cunning foe and a man of means, owned three houses in three states—Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania. On August 16, Marines under General Eric M. Smith’s command began surveilling the homes but didn’t catch even a glimpse of the elusive Taylor. Lights in the houses switched on and off at fixed intervals, presumably controlled by electronic timers, and cars at each residence were either parked in the garage or slip-covered on the driveway.

 

“We didn’t know if he got tipped off somehow or if was just part of his routine. He certainly knew Trump was gunning for him,” our source said. “And we knew tracking him digitally would be a waste of time; he’s a master cyber guy that could easily erase his digital footprint while moving around. But he’s super book smart and doesn’t have much street smarts. So, we figured we’d search close to his homes and expand our net as needed.”

 

While three Marine squads watched the homes in case Taylor returned, three platoons driving nondescript vehicles and wearing civilian attire discreetly searched the neighborhoods for signs of their quarry. Taylor loved the high life; he had a history of dining at pricey restaurants and drinking at posh wine bars. According to our source, White Hats had obtained from a former friend of Taylor’s a list of preferred restaurants and bars in Annapolis, Wilkes-Barre, and White Plains, where he owned properties.

 

“It was a starting point,” said our source, “assuming he was a creature of habit and hadn’t altered his routine beyond staying away from home.”

 

On August 22, the Marines in Annapolis got lucky, having spotted a man matching Taylor’s physical description grabbing a to-go order from Osteria 177 Steakhouse, then hopping into a Toyota Camry and driving to a luxurious manor on the east side of the Severn River. An address search revealed it to be an Airbnb owned by a Miami multimillionaire, but the Marines didn’t have time to check with the owner to find out who had leased it. They were confident Taylor was inside, and they weren’t letting him slip away.

 

The Marine squad of 13 fanned out and encircled the house, rifles at the ready and night vision goggles painting the world in eerie green. The Marine in command knocked on the front door thunderously, shouting, “Miles Taylor, this is the United States Marine Corps. Open the door or we will enter by force!”

 

Taylor, clutching a laptop, had raced toward the back door to escape, but it exploded inward in a shower of splinters that sent him tumbling across the floor. Flashbangs detonated. Taylor was covering his ears with his hands as Marines swarmed inside, one pinning Taylor’s shoulder to the ground with his boot and pointing the muzzle of his rifle at Taylor’s head.

Ukrainian drone shot down near nuclear power plant

A Ukrainian kamikaze drone has been shot down near a power plant in Russia’s Kursk region, part of which had been under Ukrainian occupation for several months.

 

According to the plant’s management, in the early hours of Sunday the downed UAV damaged part of the electrical grid and triggered a small fire.

 

In August 2024, Ukrainian forces crossed into Russia’s internationally recognized territory, advancing into the Kursk region in an effort to disrupt Russian offensives elsewhere and strengthen their position in peace talks.

 

They quickly seized dozens of villages along with the border town of Sudzha, located about 60 kilometers (37 miles) west of the plant. Russian troops fully regained control of the region by late April.

 

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian energy infrastructure, including oil refineries, gas facilities, and elements of the power grid. Earlier this week, its forces struck the Druzhba pipeline, which supplies oil to the European Union.

 

The attack drew sharp criticism from Hungary and Slovakia.

Nearly 300 soldiers freed in latest Russia-Ukraine swap

Russia and Ukraine each exchanged 146 prisoners of war on Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry has announced.

Moscow also received eight civilians who had been captured during the Ukrainian incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region last year.

 

The exchange took place at an undisclosed location.

The Russian servicemen freed during the swap are currently receiving psychological and medical assistance in Belarus, the ministry said in its statement.

They will be transferred to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation shortly.

 

The eight civilians from Kursk Region were greeted in Belarus by Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova.

The civilians ended up in Ukrainian custody during the incursion launched by Kiev last August. Ukrainian forces were expelled from the area by the Russian military earlier this year.

 

“It is impossible to convey in words the emotions and experiences of the people who managed to return to their homeland.

They all had to go through serious hardships and psychological pressure,” Moskalkova said in a statement.

 

Moscow’s chief negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, who has led several rounds of direct talks with Kiev in Türkiye this year, said the Ukrainian servicemen had been picked from around 1,000 prisoners Ukraine had repeatedly refused to take back.

“Kiev has been ‘picking’ again, this time from among the 1,000 captured Ukrainian servicemen who appealed to [Vladimir] Zelensky [the full list was published by RT].

Zelensky vows to retake Crimea despite Trump’s peace push

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has rejected US calls to withdraw its claim to Crimea or make any territorial concessions to Russia.

In a speech marking Ukraine’s Independence Day on Sunday, Zelensky vowed to retake the peninsula, which is predominantly populated by ethnic Russians and overwhelmingly voted to join Russia after the 2014 Western-backed coup in Kiev.

He also pledged to reclaim the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which, along with Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, joined Russia in 2022 after referendums.

 

“Here at the zero kilometer, this is a starting point where distances to Ukrainian cities are marked – to our Donetsk, our Lugansk, our Crimea,” Zelensky said in an address filmed at Kiev’s Maidan Square, the site of the Western-backed 2014 coup.

“All of this is Ukraine… and no temporary occupation can change that. One day… we will be together again as one country. It’s only a matter of time.”

 

While mediating peace efforts between Moscow and Kiev, US President Donald Trump has floated the idea of “land swaps,” but firmly stated that Kiev will not regain Crimea, calling that scenario “impossible.”

Land issues were reportedly on the agenda at talks between Trump, Zelensky, and Kiev’s EU backers earlier this week, but Zelensky reportedly rejected proposals to cede territory. He confirmed this in his speech on Sunday, declaring:

“Ukraine will never again in history be forced to bear the shame that the Russians call ‘a compromise’.”

 

Trump has called for a one-on-one meeting between Putin and Zelensky, saying it could accelerate the peace process, but warned that the Ukrainian leader must “show flexibility,” including on territorial claims.

He congratulated Ukraine on its national holiday in a post on X, while again urging Kiev to negotiate a settlement with Moscow to “stop the senseless killing.”

 

Putin has not ruled out meeting with Zelensky, despite questioning the Ukrainian leader’s legitimacy due to the expiration of his term, but insists that this can only happen after tangible progress in negotiations.

On Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Putin could meet Zelensky “when the agenda is ready for a summit,” but added that “as things stand, no meeting is planned.”

Moscow has consistently maintained it will only accept a peace deal that includes Ukrainian neutrality, demilitarization, and recognition of Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye as Russian.

Territory is not what Russia is interested in – Lavrov

Moscow’s goal is to defend the Russians and Russian-speaking people in Ukraine from persecution, the foreign minister has said

 

Russia has no interest in seizing Ukrainian land but wants to protect ethnic Russians and Russian-speaking people from persecution by Kiev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

 

In an interview with NBC on Sunday, Lavrov was askedwhether halting Moscow’s military offensive was the only concession it was prepared to make.

 

”We don’t have any interest in territories. We have the biggest territory on Earth,”Lavrov said. “What we are concerned about… is the people who live on those lands, whose ancestors lived there for centuries.”

 

Lavrov saidMoscow’s goal is “to remove any security threats to Russia coming from Ukrainian territory” as well as “to protect the rightsof the ethnic Russian and Russian-speaking people who believe they belong to Russian culture and Russian history.”

 

“The only way to protect them against this Nazi regime is to give them the right to express their will,”he stressed.

 

Lavrov went on to underscore that “Ukraine has the right to exist,” but it should be ready to “let people go.”

 

He noted, however, thatUkrainian officials have consistently sought to dehumanize and portray as “terrorists” peoplein its five former regions that voted to join Russia in 2014 and 2022.

 

Since the Western-backed armed coup in Kiev in 2014,Ukraine has moved to sever centuries-long ties with Russiaand introduced restrictions on the Russian language in the media. It has also sought to phase out Russian in schools, and impose broader curbs on its use in social life.

Ukraine issues military warning to Belarus

Ukraine has told Minsk to stay away from its borders during upcoming joint military exercises with Russia to be held in Belarus.

The warning came ahead of the ‘Zapad-2025’ military drill, scheduled for September 12–16.

 

Belarus allowed Russian forces to use its territory when the conflict with Ukraine escalated in February 2022.

Since then, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly said that Minsk has no intention of attacking Kiev and will only resort to military action if his country is attacked

 

In a statement on Friday, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry accused Belarus of aiding Moscow and issued a caution.

“We warn Minsk against reckless provocations and urge it to remain prudent, refrain from approaching the borders, and avoid provoking Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” Kiev’s Foreign Ministry has said.

 

This year's military exercises, which include counter-sabotage operations, drone warfare, electronic interference scenarios, and assaults, will also feature the Russian Oreshnik intermediate-range hypersonic missile, according to Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin.

First battle-tested in November 2024 in a strike on Ukraine’s Yuzhmash facility in Dnepr, Russian officials have compared its conventional destructive power to that of a low-yield nuclear strike.

 

“This is an important element for our strategic deterrence – as the head of state demands, we must be prepared for anything,” Khrenin told the state news agency Belta.

He warned that NATO is using Zapad-2025 as a pretext for its own drills, citing Poland’s deployment of 30,000 troops near Belarus as the main concern.

 

Belarus, a close ally of Russia, signed a bilateral security treaty with Moscow in December 2024. The agreement commits both countries to defend each other’s sovereignty with all available means.

In 2023, Russia deployed tactical nuclear weapons and short-range ballistic missiles on Belarusian territory, citing tensions with the West.

Lukashenko has also called for the accelerated delivery of Oreshnik systems, which could be stationed in Belarus before the end of 2025.

The US intelligence community has been infiltrated by deep state actors, who are busy “inserting their own partisan political opinions and views” into intel products and effectively working against the American people, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has said.

The DNI chief, who has repeatedly pledged to root out rogue actors from the US intel community, made the remarks on Thursday while speaking to FOX Business, stating that the deep state has created entire “pockets” within America’s intelligence agencies.

 

“There were a lot of pockets where the Deep State actors were very entrenched and were politicizing their centers or their positions, either against the American people… [or] creating intelligence products and inserting their own partisan political opinions and views,” she told the network.

”These are dangerous people because they believe their views and opinions supersede the US constitution that they all swear an oath to uphold, to support and defend, and… those who are elected by the American people, specifically the president of the United States,” Gabbard added.

 

The intelligence community has grown extremely politicized over the years and steered away from its intended goals and original mandate, Gabbard added. “It’s very simple.

The mandate the intelligence community has is to find the truth and to tell the truth,” she stressed, adding that only sufficient transparency could ensure “actual accountability” for the intel community and produce a “real change.”

 

Earlier this week, Gabbard stripped security clearances from 37 current and former intelligence officials, accusing them of manipulating and politicizing intelligence.

The move has become “the first step to aggressively get after our core national security mission, root out those deep state actors,” according to Gabbard.

The list includes multiple prominent intel figures, including former NSA deputy director Richard Ledgett, former assistant secretary of state for intelligence and research Brett Holmgren, and former principal deputy director of DNI Stephanie O’Sullivan.

Israeli warplanes bombed Houthi positions in Yemen on Sunday, including the Yemeni presidential palace, days after Yemen-based terrorists launched a missile at Israel which utilized a cluster warhead.

The strikes came in response to a missile attack conducted on Friday by the Ansar Allah terrorist group – an Iranian-backed Shi’ite movement in Yemen widely referred to as the Houthis.

 

On Sunday, Israel confirmed that the missile carried a cluster warhead, capable of scattering smaller explosives over a wide area.

The cluster warhead is internationally banned, but was used by Iran on Israeli cities during the 12-day war in June.

 

Friday’s missile attack damaged a private home in the central Israeli town of Ginaton, but caused no injuries.

“There were two explosions at home,” the owner of the home, 85-year-old Ilana Hatoumi told Channel 12. “The entire home shook.”

“The power went out,” Hatoumi added. “I thought it was very close, but I didn’t imagine it was in my home.”

Later on Sunday, dozens of explosions were reported in Houthi-held areas in Yemen, including multiple positions in the Yemeni capital city of Sana’a.

 

The IDF later confirmed Israeli Air Force jets had carried out the strikes, hitting multiple power stations, a fuel storage site, and the presidential palace in Sana’a.

“The strikes were carried out in response to the repeated attacks by the Houthi terror regime against the State of Israel and its citizens, including the launching of surface-to-surface missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles toward Israeli territory,” an army spokesperson said.

 

The spokesperson emphasized that all targets hit during Sunday’s airstrikes were used by the Houthis for military purposes, noting that the presidential palace is located within a larger military compound used by the group’s leadership for planning attacks.

The bombings are also said to have targeted storage facilities used to house ballistic missiles.

US seeking diplomacy, EU pushing war – Lavrov

European NATO members insist that Russia cannot be allowed to prevail in the conflict, the foreign minister has said

 

Kiev’s backers in Europe want the conflict in Ukraine to continue, unlike US President Donald Trump, who seems to have genuinely embraced the path of diplomacy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

 

Speaking in an interview with NBC aired on Sunday,Lavrov said that the reaction of many European officials to the summit in Alaska, and alsotheir rhetoric during follow-up talks several days later involving Vladimir Zelensky, revealed that the European NATO nations remain as bellicose as everabout the Ukraine conflict.

 

“The reaction… of these European representatives and what they were doing… indicates that they don’t want peace.They say we cannot allow the defeat of Ukraine. We cannot allow Russia to win,” Lavrov said.

 

Meanwhile,the minister noted that US President Donald Trump has opted for another approach. “We respect President Trump because President Trump defends American national interests,” he said, adding that the US leader seems to respect Russian President Vladimir Putin for doing the same for his country.

 

“What… they discuss between themselves is not a secret.We want peace in Ukraine. President Trump wants peace in Ukraine,” Lavrov stressed.

 

He also noted that Russia and Ukraine came close to a peace agreement early in the conflict during talks in Istanbul. “We proposed several times a peaceful resolution on a diplomatic basis.And as I said, it was not us who blew up the deal… in April 2022. It was personally [then-UK Prime Minister] Boris Johnson and… several officials from the Biden administration, the French and the Germans.”

 

During those negotiations, Russia and Ukraine discussed a draft agreement that entailed a neutral status for Ukraine, a scaling back of Kiev’s military, and security guarantees. Moscow has accused Johnson of intervening to urge Kiev to reject the proposed deal and continue fighting, a claim the ex-UK prime minister has denied.

 

Following the Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump held talks with Zelensky and several European leaders, which focused on potential security guarantees for Kiev. Several European governments have also floated the idea of deploying troops to Ukraine once the conflict ends, a step Russia has described as a red line.

Israeli planes and tanks pounded the eastern and northern outskirts of Gaza City overnight Saturday and into Sunday, destroying buildings and homes, residents said, as the IDF increased its troop presence in northern Gaza as part of an offensive aimed at bolstering the army’s control in the area.

Witnesses reported the sound of nonstop explosions overnight in the areas of Zeitoun and Shejaia, while tanks shelled houses and roads in the nearby Sabra neighborhood and several buildings were blown up in the northern town of Jabalia.

The IDF said Sunday that troops of the 401st Armored Brigade returned to Jabalia in recent days, joining the Givati infantry brigade, which has been operating the area — just north of Gaza City — for the past week.

The military said the forces, led by the 162nd Division, are working to dismantle Hamas capabilities in the area, including by destroying tunnels, “eliminating terrorists, and strengthening operational control over the area.”

 

“The troops’ activity enables the expansion of the fighting to additional areas and prevents Hamas terrorists from returning and operating in these areas,” the IDF said.

The IDF has said it is operating on the outskirts of Gaza City ahead of a major offensive that would see it capture the entire city.

Tens of thousands of reservists are due to show up for duty on September 2 for the offensive, which is likely to begin in the following weeks.

 

While fleeing westward from Jabaliya, schoolteacher Salim Dhaher said he saw weaponized robots planting explosives as troops advanced from the opposite direction.

As they set the stage for Israel’s push to seize the city, Dhaher said he feared it was part of a larger effort to forcibly remove Palestinians from the north.

The aim is clear, he said: “To destroy everything above the ground, and force the transfer.”

 

Around half of the enclave’s two million people currently live in Gaza City, and there has been little sign, ahead of the invasion, of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians evacuating the city, which Israel says is still a Hamas stronghold.

Many are exhausted by repeated displacements and unconvinced that any area — including so-called humanitarian zones — offers safety.

A few thousand have already left, carrying their belongings on vehicles and rickshaws.

 

“I stopped counting the times I had to take my wife and three daughters and leave my home in Gaza City,” said Mohammad, 40, via a chat app.

It occurred hundreds of meters away from the site, the eyewitnesses said.

 

“The gunfire was indiscriminate,” Mohamed Abed, a father of two from the Bureij refugee camp, said, adding that while many fled some people fell to the ground after being shot.

Abed and Aymed Sayyad, another aid seeker among the crowd, said troops opened fire when a group near the front of the crowd pushed forward toward a distribution site before its scheduled opening.

Sayyad said he and others helped two people who were wounded by gunshots, one in his shoulder and the other in his leg.

 

The Israeli military and the GHF did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

 

According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, more than 2,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 13,500 wounded while seeking aid at distribution points or along aid convoys. The ministry added that malnutrition-related deaths rose by eight to 289 on Sunday.

The IDF has acknowledged firing warning shots at crowds that get too close to its soldiers at aid distribution sites in Gaza, but has called the death tallies exaggerated, though it hasn’t provided alternate numbers.

 

The Hamas health ministry says more than 62,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.

Teenager Killed by Drunk Driving Illegal in Louisiana

 

A fifteen-year-old boy was killed by a Nicaraguan illegal who was driving drunk in Louisiana on Thursday night.

 

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office shared that the boy was riding his bicycle when Juan Alfredo Chavarria Lezama, 31, allegedly ran him over before fleeing the scene.

 

The boy was airlifted to an area hospital but died from the injuries.

 

Ultimately, the driver was identified as Lezama and apprehended a short time later.

 

Sheriff Jason Ard shared, “The 15-year-old male was airlifted to a local hospital where he would later succumb to his injuries.”

Trump: Hostages would be safer if IDF ‘went in fast’

U.S. President Donald Trump accused Hamas on Friday of extortion during the indirect hostage talks with Israel, saying he believes it would be safer to free the captives through military pressure rather than through pursuing an agreement.

“The situation has to end, it’s extortion and it has to end,” Trump told reporters during a press conference in the Oval Office. “I actually think they’re safer in many ways if you went in and you really went in fast.”

 

Asked why Washington appears to be backing Israel’s Aug. 8 decision to order the IDF to take Gaza City, despite the opposition of some hostage families to the plan, Trump stressed that “not all of them” disapproved.

“I’m the one that got all of the hostages out. You got a lot of people out. If it wasn’t for me, they wouldn’t be out,” the president continued his response. “I’ve gotten to know a lot of them, they’re great people.”

 

He then suggested that fewer than 20 hostages remain alive in Gaza captivity, apparently contradicting the official Israeli assessment.

“The 20 is actually probably not 20, because a couple maybe aren’t around any longer,” said the president. “I said, you know, when you get down to 20, they’re not going to make deals anymore, and they didn’t.

 

“Now we have that final little group of people. And Hamas knows that if they give them, that’s probably the end of their lives,” he said. “So it’s not easy to get.

And I know, if you’re a parent, you just don’t care, you want to—I want my baby back, they want their babies back. They want their kids back and I understand it, but I got them out and did a good job.”

 

IDF Brig. Gen. (res.) Gal Hirsch, Israel’s coordinator for the captives and missing, told the families in response to Trump’s remarks: “There is no change in the details you have received from us.

“Twenty of the hostages are alive, two are in serious condition and 28 have been confirmed dead and are classified as fallen captives,” he stated.

 

Trump in his remarks emphasized that “people can’t forget October 7, remember that,” referencing the 2023 Hamas-led massacre in Israel’s south, which resulted in the deaths of 1,219 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count based on official figures, and the kidnapping of 251 others.

The Security Cabinet is scheduled to meet on Tuesday to approve plans for the IDF takeover of Gaza City, an operation dubbed “Gideon’s Chariots II.”

 

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Aug. 14 outlined his government’s parameters for ending the war against Hamas in Gaza.

The five conditions for victory are the full disarmament of Hamas; the return of all 50 remaining hostages; the demilitarization of the entire Strip; security control of Gaza; and establishing “an alternative civilian administration” in the enclave.

Russia attacks Ukraine with 72 drones, ballistic missile on Independence Day

Russia launched 72 drones and a ballistic missile at Ukraine overnight on Aug. 24, the country's Independence Day, the Air Force reported.

Ukraine shot down a total of 48 drones, while a missile and 24 Shahed attack drones struck 10 locations, the Air Force said, without specifying the targets.

 

According to the report, the attacks were launched from Russia’s Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

Apart from the overnight attack, Russian troops also continued targeting Ukrainian cities over the past day, killing three and injuring at least three more, according to local authorities.

 

One person was killed in a Russian strike on Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast, Governor Vadym Filashkin said.

Another person was killed in Russian attacks on Kherson Oblast, according to local Governor Oleksandr Prokudin. Two more people, including a child, were injured there.

 

Russian troops also hit Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with drones and guided aerial bombs, killing a 47-year-old woman, Governor Serhii Lysak said.

In Sumy Oblast, a Russian airstrike injured a 45-year-old man, the region's military administration reported. A total of 36 settlements were under attacks there, the authorities said.

Over the past 24 hours, two people were injured in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Governor Ivan Fedorov said.

 

Russian troops carried out a total of 478 attacks on 11 settlements in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, using drones, artillery, and air bombs, Fedorov said.

Russia also attacked Kharkiv Oblast with two guided aerial bombs and seven drones over the past day, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported. There were no casualties, according to him.

Drones, armoured vehicles part of Canada’s $2B military aid package for Ukraine

WARSAW — Prime Minister Mark Carney says drones, armoured vehicles and other munitions are headed to Ukraine as part of a $2-billion military aid package.

 

Carney first announced the funds in June at the G7 summit in Alberta but outlined the details of where that money will be spent during a surprise visit to Kyiv today.

 

Roughly 40 per cent of the fund will procure urgently needed supplies for Ukraine’s war against Russia, including vehicles, arms and medical equipment.

 

Another third of the funding will support purchases from a list of items prioritized by NATO, including U.S. equipment, munitions and air defence capabilities.

 

Canada will also contribute to buying drone, counter-drone and electronic warfare capabilities.

 

Carney is in Kyiv today for Ukraine’s Independence Day, where he also outlined $31 million in humanitarian aid and other support for the war-torn nation’s reconstruction in coming years.

When U.K. officials signed a 100-year partnership with Ukraine in mid-January, they claimed to be Ukraine’s “preferred partner” in developing the country’s “critical minerals strategy.”

 

Yet within a month, U.S. President Donald Trump had presented a proposal to Ukraine’s President Volodymr Zelensky to access the country’s vast mineral resources as “compensation” for U.S. support to Ukraine in the war against Russia.

 

Whitehall was none too pleased about Washington muscling in.

 

When Foreign Secretary David Lammy met Zelensky in Kyiv last month he reportedly raised the issue of minerals, “a sign that [Keir] Starmer’s government is still keen to get access to Ukraine’s riches”, the iPaper reported.

 

Lammy earlier said, in a speech last year:

 

“Look around the world. Countries are scrambling to secure critical minerals, just as great powers once raced to control oil.”

 

The U.K. foreign secretary was correct, but Britain itself is one of those powers, and Ukraine is one of the major countries U.K. officials — as well as the Trump administration — have their eyes on.

 

It’s no surprise why. Ukraine has around 20,000 mineral deposits covering 116 types of minerals such as beryllium, manganese, gallium, uranium, zirconium, rare earth metals and nickel.

 

The country, whose economy has been devastated by Russia’s brutal war, also possesses one of the world’s largest reserves of graphite, the largest titanium reserves in Europe, and a third of the continent’s lithium deposits.

 

These resources are key for industries such as military production, high tech, aerospace, and green energy.

 

In recent years, the Ukrainian government has sought to attract foreign investment to develop its critical mineral resources and signed strategic partnerships and held investment fora to showcase its mining opportunities.

 

The country has also begun auctioning exploration permits for minerals such as lithium, copper, cobalt and nickel, offering lucrative investment opportunities.

 

Media narratives largely parrot the U.K. government’s interests in Ukraine being about standing up to aggression. But Whitehall has in the past few years stepped up its interest in accessing the world’s critical minerals, not least in Ukraine.

 

Nusrat Ghani, a trade minister in Rishi Sunak’s government, held at least 10 meetings on the subject of critical minerals in 2023 and the first half of 2024, government transparency data shows.

 

Among the companies she met were giant U.K. mining corporations Rio Tinto and Anglo American, and arms exporter BAE Systems and military aerospace lobbyists, ADS.

 

It is not clear if Ukraine was the subject of these discussions but one other prominent firm Ghani met to discuss “mineral supply chains” was Rothschilds, which has extensive interests in Ukraine.

 

Ghani held a discussion with the Paris-headquartered global advisory firm in April 2023 while her successor Alan Mak did so the following year in May. Mak met the firm “to discuss Rothschild’s critical minerals work,” the data show.

 

The corporation was invited to the 2023 Ukraine Recovery Conference held in London and is a member of the U.K.-Ukraine Finance Partnership. It has also been the main adviser to the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance since 2017.

 

Rothschilds, on whose board sits former U.K. National Security Adviser Lord Mark Sedwill, has no less than $53 billion invested in Ukraine.

 

Writing recently in Unherd, researcher Sang-Haw Lee quotes a senior Labour figure saying the U.K. was involved in extensive negotiations for the whole of last year relating to securing exclusive access to Ukraine’s minerals, but that adequate government support was not forthcoming.

Top lawyer wanted for organizing fraudulent scheme to sell property seized by state

Andrii Dovbenko, a Ukrainian lawyer and owner of several law firms, has been declared wanted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) on suspicion of organizing a fraudulent scheme of selling the property seized by the state. The scheme allegedly led by Dovbenko caused the Ukrainian state over $13 million (Hr 485 million) in losses, according to NABU.

 

Investigators obtained evidence that Dovbenko had led a criminal group of four people accused of the embezzlement of property transferred to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).

 

The scheme involved at least 11 people, including then-director of ARMA and director of SETAM, a state enterprise that handled the sales.

 

NABU wrote that the group members staged fraudulent auctions to sell the property seized by ARMA to handpicked companies at an undervalued price at least four times in 2019.

 

Dovbenko was informed of his suspect status in absentia on Dec. 29. In total, eight out of eleven people allegedly involved in the scheme were made suspects, including the ex-head of ARMA, Anton Yanchuk.

 

ARMA is a state body responsible for finding and managing assets and property seized for corruption and other crimes.

 

In 2019, Ukrainian investigative journalists identified Dovbenko as involved in fraudulent schemes within the Justice Ministry, which he denied.

Teenager Killed by Drunk Driving Illegal in Louisiana

 

A fifteen-year-old boy was killed by a Nicaraguan illegal who was driving drunk in Louisiana on Thursday night.

 

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office shared that the boy was riding his bicycle when Juan Alfredo Chavarria Lezama, 31, allegedly ran him over before fleeing the scene.

 

The boy was airlifted to an area hospital but died from the injuries.

 

Ultimately, the driver was identified as Lezama and apprehended a short time later.

 

Sheriff Jason Ard shared, “The 15-year-old male was airlifted to a local hospital where he would later succumb to his injuries.”

 

“Impairment (on the part of the driver) was observed at the scene.”

 

“Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver was over two times the legal Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) limit. The driver of the vehicle is now in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.”

 

Sheriff Ard later confirmed that Lezama is an illegal from Nicaragua.

 

“He’s an undocumented male, a Hispanic male, here illegally from what we’re gathering. He does have an ICE detainer at the time. He’s also charged with multiple charges like the vehicular homicide, reckless operation, DWI first offense,” Ard explained.

3I/ATLAS is Large and Releases Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

August 24, 2025

 

The team of NASA’s SPHEREx space observatory just reported tantalizing new data on the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS (accessible here).

The observations were made between August 8–12, 2025 when 3I/ATLAS was at a distance from the Sun of 3.2 times the Earth-Sun separation (AU) and a distance from Earth of 2.6 AU.

 

The new observations reveal a cloud of carbon dioxide (CO2) around 3I/ATLAS corresponding to a mass loss rate of about 70 kilograms per second. No water (H2O) cloud was detected with an upper limit of 4.5 kilograms per second on the water mass loss rate.

This is an order of magnitude below the previous claims of water detection with a mass loss rate of order 40 kilograms per second at a larger distance from the Sun of 3.5 AU.

These early claims from two research teams were unsubstantiated by the reported data, as I argued in a previous essay (accessible here).

The excellent SPHEREx report notes that “The lack of a bright water gas coma is puzzling as 3I/ATLAS was not too far outside the Solar system’s “water ice line” at 2.5 AU during the observations.”

 

Although no water (H2O) in gas form was identified, some absorption features in the reflected spectrum from the surface of 3I/ATLAS were consistent with a mix of water and carbon dioxide ices combined with organics, as often found on the surfaces of Kuiper belt objects in the Solar system which are similarly exposed to interstellar cosmic-rays.

Could it be that 3I/ATLAS is not a water-rich comet as envisioned by comet experts when it was discovered?

 

The SPHEREx images show 3I/ATLAS as a point source. No dust coma was resolved, implying that the glow of scattered sunlight around the object in its Hubble Space Telescope image is compact and amounts to a small amount of dust.

SPHEREx images were taken at specific wavelengths near the characteristic emission lines of water-H2O (3.0 micrometers), carbon dioxide-CO2 (4.26 micrometers) and carbon monoxide-CO (4.7 micrometers).

No coma was detected in water or carbon monoxide. However, the CO2 image shows a symmetric cloud around I/ATLAS with a brightness that declines with projected distance to the power of -3/2 out to distances of at least 348,000 kilometers.

This corresponds to a steeply declining CO2 density with 3D-radius to the power of -2.5.

 

Most interestingly, the flux detected at a wavelength of 1 micrometer from 3I/ATLAS suggests a large nucleus with a diameter of 46 kilometers.

If this represents a solid body, then the mass of 3I/ATLAS must be a million times bigger than the previous interstellar comet 2I/Borisov.

This makes little sense since we should have found of order a million objects of the size of 2I/Borisov before discovering a 46-kilometer interstellar object.

Moreover, as I noted in my first paper on 3I/ATLAS (accessible here), the amount of rocky material per unit volume in interstellar space is too small by a factor of ten thousand than the value needed to deliver into the inner Solar system one giant rock of this size over the ATLAS decade-long survey.

 

Alternatively, 3I/ATLAS may have targeted the inner solar system by technological design.

This possibility is consistent with the alignment of its trajectory with the orbital plane of the planets around the Sun, a coincidence of a part in 500 for a random orientation — as observed for 2I/Borisov.

 

The lack of a cometary tail in the Hubble Space Telescope image is evidence that there is not much dust around 3I/ATLAS with particle size on the scale of the wavelength of sunlight (0.5 micrometers).

In that case, the observed reddening in the spectrum of reflected sunlight should originate from the surface of the object, implying that the object is large and dominates the reflected sunlight rather than the dust cloud around it.

 

The CO2 mass loss amounts to the ablation of a millimeter thick layer from the surface of a 46-km rock over a period of 10 years.

This means that a relatively thin outer layer is sufficient to maintain the observed cloud of CO2 gas and dust around 3I/ATLAS. What lies under this outer layer is still unknown.

We are all waiting for the release of the first data from the Webb Space Telescope, when it observed 3I/ATLAS on August 6, 2025.

Here’s hoping that as the Sun turns on the heat on 3I/ATLAS in the coming months, it will reveal its true nature.

Calera Police credit recent DUI arrest to calls from citizens

 

 

CALERA, Ala. (WBRC) - The Calera Police Department is sharing about how citizen calls led to an arrest on Saturday night, Aug. 23.

 

In a post shared on Facebook, Calera Police say that their dispatch received calls reporting a vehicle driving recklessly without headlights.

 

Police say they saw a car that matched the description in a gas station parking lot. The car then struck a pole and a gas pump.

 

The officer reportedly turned on their lights and used their PA to ask the driver to pull over. However, the driver pulled away, leading the officer to pursue the car.

 

According to police, the driver pulled onto Highway 31 and continued driving without headlights. Police say from there, a small pursuit occurred and the car eventually pulled into another gas station along Highway 31 and stopped.

 

Authorities say the driver of the car was unable to communicate in English. When translated, police say the driver refused to complete a field sobriety test.

 

Police identified both the driver of the car and the car’s passenger as men. However, they did not provide names at this time.

 

Both men reportedly appeared intoxicated and had open alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

 

According to police, the driver is being charged with a DUI, attempting to elude, leaving the scene of the accident, no drivers license and no headlights at night. The passenger is being charged with open container and public intoxication.

 

Police say both suspects are being held at the Shelby County Jail on a detainer to establish identification and possible federal immigration charges.

 

Calera Police Chief David Hyche emphasized how this situation shows the department needs more Spanish speaking officers and dispatchers.

 

Hyche also thanked callers for helping police stop the vehicle before someone was hurt or killed. He cited data from 2023, saying that one-third of Alabama’s fatal car accidents are caused by impaired drivers.

 

“The study also shows that Alabama is sorely lacking in law enforcement staffing and is 48th among states in the number of DUI arrests,” wrote Hyche. “It’s my opinion that ‘our long standing shortage of police officers and State Troopers contributes to this problem. More troopers could help reduce traffic fatalities and help clear interstate accidents faster.’”

If you have followed the construct of the Trump-Russia collusion story, you are likely outraged that accountability has not followed. There’s a very frustrating reason for that and I will explain howtwo distinctly different issues are being conflated. Separating them is the key.

 

Thefirst issue is the FBI’s illegal surveillanceof presidential candidates’, including candidate Donald Trump. Thesecondissue is the Clinton campaign inspiredRussia-Collusion story, that led toCrossfire Hurricane, colloquially known as “Russiagate.”

 

All investigative emphasis, including John Durham, has been on the latterwhich takes you into a DC silo construct where all tentacles lead to dead ends and inaction.

 

Russiagate was a Clinton-inspired political smear campaign that was given the patina of credibility by the FBI opening the investigation called “Crossfire Hurricane.” If you focus on that storyline, you end up with zero accountability and endless talk that goes nowhere.

 

However, if President Trump and DNI Tulsi Gabbard reveal the first element, the FBI’s illegal surveillanceof candidate Donald Trump, that path has a physical trail and documents that cannot be deflected by political obfuscation.

 

♦THE FBI SURVEILLANCE– The original agreement between Clinton and Obama going back to 2008 was for Obama to take the nomination, the presidency and then eventually support Hillary Clinton’s 2016 election bid.

 

Obama would be President. Obama would appoint Clinton to Secretary of State, Hillary would then use her office to build wealth for herself and her family, and then HRC would exit the Dept of State to begin her presidential run.

 

John Podesta would enter the Obama administration as Hillary left (post Benghazi mess) in 2013. Podesta would look out for Hillary’s interests from his position inside the Obama White House.The Clintons and Obamas never fully trusted each other.

 

Barack Obamawould put all the mechanisms into place that would transition his administration into Hillary Clintons’. That was always the plan running in the background.

 

In 2015 Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had a check-in meeting; just touching base to firm up the goals and objectives as Hillary began her campaign launch. Podesta then left the White House to take up position inside the campaign, and Obama would maintain Clinton’s interests as planned without a monitor.

 

All of President Obama’s appointments in/after 2015, were essentially through the prism of assisting Hillary Clinton to win in 2016. Attorney General Loretta Lynch (tarmac meeting), Deputy AG Sally Yates, Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe and FBI Director James Comey were all part of that.

 

This is a key point missed by many. In the last two years of Obama, the cabinet and top-tier members of the administration would align their institutional interests to that of Hillary Clinton.

 

Technically Hillary had eyes and ears all over the White House at the time, and with Hillary Clinton being a foregone conclusion per the expectations of Washington DC, everyone would fall in line during the transition from Obama to Clinton.

 

Again, this was the general plan.Obama would show up in 2016 to campaign for Hillary and all would be seamless.

 

The FBI was aware of the plan for transition from Obama to Clinton. Hence,the FBI role in eliminating the threat later presented by the Hillary Clinton laptop scandal, private servers and the subsequent issues of her receiving and transmitting classified information.

 

Remember,Clinton’s motive as Secretary of State was to sell her position for material wealth. That’s why she used a personal email, maintained her own servers, and generally controlled how her activity could be monitored and tracked. [Also, she didn’t fully trust Obama]

The FBI activity was to support, defend and facilitate the Clinton effort.This is again a key to understanding “Russiagate.”

 

After March 2016 (Super Tuesday) it became obvious Donald Trump was going to win the Republican nomination. Trump would be Clinton’s opponent.

 

♦The surveillance – Using access to the NSA database, the U.S. Govt., specifically “FBI Contractors”, began doing political surveillance of Donald Trump’s campaign. This intel was then sent to the Clinton team. Clinton would benefit from knowing the communication inside the Trump campaign. All of that intel was in the metadata captured by the NSA and searched by the FBI contractors. Clips 1 and 2

 

All of this activity was political surveillance, using govt resources to feed the Clinton team the info.

 

♦”RUSSIAGATE”– When the Clinton campaign launched the Russia Collusion dirty trick move against her opponent Donald Trump, originally using Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson, the role of the Obama administration was to facilitate the political hit, and at the very least not impede it.Hence, former CIA Director John Brennan briefing Barack Obamaon the status of the Russia collusion hoax as it spread in 2016 via the Clinton campaign.

 

However, as a result of the circle of information, Obama had a problem. The sourcing of the intel could trace to the illegal FBI surveillance of the NSA database. That’s why they needed a plausible shift within the surveillance. That’s where the Carter Page FISA comes in.==

 

Specifically because President Obama was, by extension, now a participant in the Clinton created “Russia Collusion hoax,” and specifically because his administration officials were participants in the process (DOJ, FBI), when President Trump won the 2016 election President Barack Obama was now exposed by the threat the operation represented. This context is the impetus for the January 5, 2017, meeting and subsequent Susan Rice memo.

 

Following the surprising result in the 2016 election, theteam around Obama was constructing plausible deniability.

 

PresidentObama did not orchestrate the Russia Collusion hoax; he facilitated itby not interfering with his administration officials who were assisting Hillary Clinton.This is a key distinction.

 

President Obama knew what was going on and he was willfully blind as it was carried out. However, the mess andfallout from the effort his FBI and DOJ officialsput into assisting Hillary Clinton eventuallyrepresented a threat to President Obama.

 

With an assist frompressuring allies in the legislative branch, Robert Mueller and all 19 of his Clinton-aligned Lawfare operatives were put into place to cover-up the mess createdwithin the Russia Collusion operation. Mueller +19 Lawfare embedscontinued the Crossfire Hurricane operation, while the extreme Lawfare strategy was deployed against the Trump administration.

 

That’s the short, encapsulated version.

 

The Russia Collusion hoax was created by Hillary Clinton, spread to media through Fusion GPSand given the patina of credibility by the DOJ and FBI. President Obama facilitated the operation by not interfering in it, until it became a threat to him personally.

 

Both the Obama and Clinton political teams supported and organized the Robert Mueller cover-up. All of this activity is because Hillary Clinton was supposed to win.They all knew the “dirty tricks” that were deployed and specifically what systems were utilizedin order to carry it out.

 

♦ Awakening the public.Among the information President Donald Trump has requested for declassification, there are two important document sets being overlooked.

 

#1 is the 2017 99-page opinion of FISA Courtpresiding Judge Rosemary Collyer covering 2016 FBI Contractor abuse of the NSA database.Tulsi Gabbard needs to get the unredacted version, read it and declassify it.[Yes, revealing the names of the actual FBI contractors]

Coast Guard Arrests Drunk Containership Captain Six Times Over Legal Limit in Seattle

 

The U.S. Coast Guard has arrested the captain of a 333-meter Liberian-flagged containership in Seattle after he was found to be severely intoxicated while in command of the ship.

 

According to Coast Guard officials, the captain of MSC Jubilee IX was taken into custody on August 20 following a boarding at Terminal 5 in Seattle. The incident began when a Puget Sound Pilot aboard the vessel reported that the captain was showing signs of intoxication.

 

Taking immediate action, the pilot and the ship’s first mate operated the vessel during its transit from an anchorage near Everett to Terminal 5 at the Port of Seattle, successfully completing the journey without incident.

 

Upon the vessel’s arrival and mooring at Terminal 5, a Coast Guard boarding team and agents from the Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) conducted a boarding and port state control examination. During this inspection, the captain was administered field sobriety and breathalyzer tests, which revealed he was “impaired more than six times the legal limit for commercial mariners.”

 

Following the discovery, CGIS transported the captain to King County Jail, where charges for boating under the influence were referred to the King County Prosecutor.

 

Paul Shultz, Special Agent in Charge of the CGIS Northwest Field Office, praised the pilot’s quick response to the situation, stating: “The Coast Guard is proud to ensure the safety and security of the maritime transportation system. The Pilot’s immediate intervention mitigated significant risks and ensured the safe passage of the vessel.”

 

The Coast Guard detained the MSC Jubilee IX until a relief captain could be identified and confirmed. The vessel has since been cleared to resume operations.

 

The incident involving the massive container ship, which operates under the Liberian flag, remains under investigation by Coast Guard authorities.

Both document trails outline the FBI conducting political surveillance of the 2016 Republican Presidental nominee, Donald Trump.

 

This is the originating data that follows a parallel path in the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation.

 

Both paths, (1) the FBI illegal political surveillance, and (2) the Clinton campaign Russia Collusion/Crossfire Hurricane investigation, intersect at the Carter Page FISA warrant, and merge together. However, it is important to see them as two distinctly different paths.

 

The illegal surveillance pathwas made legal retroactivelyby the FISA Warrant against Carter Page.

 

Investigating ‘Russiagate‘, as dirty and unseemly as it was, takes you to a place where politics infected the DOJ/FBI and every participant carries plausible deniability.However, investigate the 2016 illegal surveillance of Donald Trump’s campaign via the NSA database and all of that activity cannot be justified.

 

Do you understand the difference?

 

If you understand the difference above, then you start to realize why John Solomon is focusing on Russiagate. Beware the person who picks up the flag at the front of the parade, for they are likely steering the crowd for a reason. (Sundance has mentioned Solomon before, andnow John is interviewed by Epoch Times as a hero which is very strange. Remember the two IC guys told John what to focus on, and he did it. Sarah Carter was not included and gets no credit.)

 

Focus on the FBI surveillance of the GOP in 2016, byfocusing on how they exploited the NSA database.

 

As to the Audit Logs preserved by Director Rogers, there are two strong likelihoods:

 

#1) I suspect one of the workstations involved in the database searches could be identified as an FBI workstation in the DC Law Office of Perkins Coie. At least that workstation could be in communication with the NSA search results.

 

#2) I also suspect one of the workstations involved in the database searches will be located in the office of Samantha Power at the State Department; with a user id login designated to Power (but she may not have physically logged in). This would be an external, non-domestic, workaround to the legal limits of surveillance. A log-in that can take place from any country not technically bound by the 4th amendment search restrictions found domestically==.

 

Both #1 and #2 above are directly connected to Hillary Clinton. #1 was her campaign law firm, and #2 was her former office in the State Dept.

 

Bottom line. Authorized “contractors” with the USIC were conducting illegal political surveillance on the 2016 GOP presidential contenders and funneling the results to the Clinton campaign.

 

There is a document trail directly to this activity, and audit logs showing exactly who was doing it.(Maybe Admiral Rogers has access to it or turned it over to someone trustworthy that would release it when needed. Its needed now by PDJT and Tulsi now.)

US President Donald Trump has delivered a “brutal wake-up call” to the EU,shattering the bloc’s illusion of geopolitical power rooted in its economic might, ex-Italian Prime Minister and former European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi has said, warning thatthe bloc must undergo major reforms to remain relevant.

 

Trump has pressured the bloc’s NATO members to boost military spending, forced Brussels into a new trade deal that imposes a 15% tariff on most EU exports, scraps duties on US industrial goods, and opens wide market access to American products.

 

The deal has sparked a backlash from current and former EU officials,who say it heavily favors Washington.

 

“For years, the EU believed that its economic size, with 450 million consumers, brought with it geopolitical power and influence in international trade relations.This year will be remembered as the year in which this illusion evaporated,” Draghi said at a conference in Rimini on Friday.

 

Trump’s broader policies have left the EU with only a “marginal” role in Ukraine peace efforts, reduced it to a passive “observer” in Gaza and Iran, and prompted China to “make it clear that it does not consider Europe an equal partner,” he added.

 

“These events have done justice to any illusion that the economic dimension alone ensured any form of geopolitical power,” Draghi stated. “Trump has given us a brutal wake-up call – the thing to do is to pull ourselves together.”

 

Draghi claimed thebloc’s weakness lies in its “passivity and rigidity” and urged internal reform. He warned that reverting to national sovereignty could “further expose us to the will of great powers,”andinstead called for scrapping internal trade barriers and issuing common debtto fund defense, infrastructure, and innovation.

 

Critics have argued that common debt could erode national control over finances and spark division within the EU, as wealthier members may resent covering costs for poorer southern nations seen as fiscally undisciplined. However, experts, including the International Monetary Fund,warned that without reforms addressing key structural challenges, the EU faces stagnation.

US President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of a new ambassador to India and special envoy for South and Central Asian affairs.

 

Sergio Gor, who originates from the former Soviet republic of Uzbekistan, has served the Trump administration as Director of Presidential Personnel, playing a critical role in recruitment, and is regarded as one of the president’s most trusted advisers.

 

Announcing the move on social media, Trump described Gor as a “great friend” and longtime ally, praising his loyalty and work within the administration. “Sergio’s role as Director of Presidential Personnel has been essential to delivering on the unprecedented Mandatethat we received from the American People,” he wrote on Friday. “For the most populous Region in the World, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to deliver on my Agenda and help us, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

 

Gor’s nomination comes amid strained ties between Washington and New Delhi, with Trump threatening sweeping tariffs on Indian goods and additional penalties over India’s purchases of Russian oil. A person familiar with the matter told Politico the appointmentis meant as “a powerful signal to the Modi government”that negotiations should be serious and that messages “come from the president.”

 

Born in 1986 in Tashkent as Sergey Gorokhovsky, Gor spent part of his childhood in Malta before moving to the United States in 1999. He attended high school in Los Angeles and later studied at George Washington University in Washington, where he became active in conservative politics. He went on to build a career in Republican circles before rising to Trump’s inner circle.

 

According to the Times of India, the announcement was met with a “muted response,” with External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar saying only that he had “read about it.” Following the announcement, Gor said he was “beyond grateful” to Trump for “his incredible trust and confidence.” ”Nothing has made me prouder than to serve the American people through the GREAT work of this Administration,” he wrote on X.

UN watchdog reacts to Ukraine’s attack on Russian nuclear plant

A drone has damaged a transformer at the facility, causing a fire, Russian officials have said

 

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is “aware” of reports about a fire at the Kursk nuclear power plant (NPP) in Russia,which it said started due to “military activity.”(the cowards will never name Kiev as the repeating culprit)

 

Russian officials earlier said that the plant, located about 50km from the border with Ukraine,had been targeted by a drone raid.

 

Air defense forces overnight reportedly intercepted a Ukrainian UAV which detonated on impact near the Kursk NPP,damaging an auxiliary transformer and triggering a fire, which was later put out.

 

“Radiation levels at the site and in surrounding areas remained unchanged,”a statement on the NPP’s official Telegram channel read.

 

While no casualties were reported, the NPP had to decrease the load on one of its three working units by 50%, officials said.

 

In a post on X on Sunday,the IAEA stopped short of assigning the blame, saying only that it “is aware of media reports that a transformer at the Kursk NPP in Russiahas caught fire due to military activity. While the IAEA has no independent confirmation of these reports, [Director General] Rafael Grossi stresses that ‘every nuclear facility must be protected at all times.’”

 

The Kursk nuclear facility was put at risk due to the conflict with Ukraine, particularly after Kiev’s military invaded the regionin force in August 2024. Russian officials declared in April that Ukrainian troops had been expelled from Kursk Region following a months-long counteroffensive.

 

Russian authorities have claimed that Kiev intended to seize the site,warning that if such plans had succeeded, it could have caused a nuclear accident on par with the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

 

The Kursk NPP has also come under several Ukrainian strikes in recent months.

Ukraine issues military warning to Belarus

Upcoming ‘Zapad’ military drills will feature the Russian Oreshnik intermediate-range hypersonic missile

 

Ukraine has told Minsk to stay away from its borders during upcoming joint military exercises with Russia to be held in Belarus. The warning came ahead of the ‘Zapad-2025’ military drill, scheduled for September 12–16.

 

Belarus allowed Russian forces to use its territory when the conflict with Ukraine escalated in February 2022. Since then,Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly said that Minsk has no intention of attacking Kievand will only resort to military action if his country is attacked

 

In a statement on Friday, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry accused Belarus of aiding Moscow and issued a caution.

 

“We warn Minsk against reckless provocations and urge it to remain prudent, refrain from approaching the borders, and avoid provoking Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” Kiev’s Foreign Ministry has said.

 

This year's military exercises, which include counter-sabotage operations, drone warfare, electronic interference scenarios, and assaults, will also feature the Russian Oreshnik intermediate-range hypersonic missile, according to Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin. First battle-tested in November 2024 in a strike on Ukraine’s Yuzhmash facility in Dnepr, Russian officials have compared its conventional destructive power to that of a low-yield nuclear strike.

 

“This is an important element for our strategic deterrence – as the head of state demands, we must be prepared for anything,” Khrenin told the state news agency Belta. He warned that NATO is using Zapad-2025 as a pretext for its own drills, citing Poland’s deployment of 30,000 troops near Belarus as the main concern.

 

Belarus, a close ally of Russia, signed a bilateral security treaty with Moscow in December 2024. The agreement commits both countries to defend each other’s sovereignty with all available means. In 2023, Russia deployed tactical nuclear weapons and short-range ballistic missiles on Belarusian territory, citing tensions with the West. The US has approved the sale of 3,350 air-launched ERAM cruise missiles to Ukraine,the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, citing two unnamed US officials.(bullshit then, divide and conquer tactic against the U.S. and Russia)

 

The munitions, which have a range of up to 280 miles, will reportedly arrive in Ukraine within six weeks.Several US officials told the WSJ that Ukraine would have to seek the Pentagon’s approval when using them.

 

While US President Donald Trump had criticized the previous administration of Joe Biden for its unconditional aid to Kiev,he said earlier this week that Ukraine has “no chance of winning”unless it is capable of striking targets in Russia. Ukrainian troops have been steadily losing ground to Russian forces over the course of 2025 and struggled to replenish their ranks.

 

After months of uncertainty over America’s commitments, Trump said in July that any additional weapons delivered to Ukraine would be paid by NATO members in Europe.

 

Ukraine’s key European backers, including France and Germany, are increasingly pushing for further weapons deliveries as part of security guarantees to be provided to Ukraine after the end of the conflict. Russia, however, maintains that Western military aid is an obstacle to reaching a peace deal.

The reported restrictions have been part of US President Donald Trump’s renewed push for peace talks

 

The Pentagon has blocked Ukraine from striking deep inside Russia with American-supplied missiles, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported Saturday, citing US officials.

 

According to the paper, the Department of Defense has been preventing Kiev from firing long-range ATACMS missiles since late spring. On at least one occasion, Washington reportedly turned down a Ukrainian request to hit a target on Russia’s internationally recognized territory.

 

The WSJ linked the policy shift to President Donald Trump’s effort to “entice” Moscow into peace talks. Last week, Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time since 2019 and several days later held talks with the leaders of Ukraine, NATO, the EU, and several European states in Washington.

 

Although Trump urged Moscow and Kiev to reach a peace deal as soon as possible,he said on Thursday that Ukraine has “no chance of winning”without striking Russia.

 

Trump has also criticized the previous administration for providing unconditional military aid to Ukraine andin February accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of “gambling with World War III.”

 

Russia has warned that by supplying Ukraine with weapons, Western countries are de facto directly participating in the conflict. Moscow has listed an end to foreign military aid as one of its conditions for a lasting ceasefire.

New Documents Reveal US Backed Ethnic Cleansing Of Serbians

 

The ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Serbs by a US-backed Croatian leader was premeditated, according to newly-uncovered files revealing the operation’s planning. After the bloodshed subsided, Richard Holbrooke, a top US diplomat, assured him: “We said publicly… that we were concerned, but privately, you knew what we wanted.”

 

August 4, 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Operation Storm. Little known outside the former Yugoslavia, the military campaign unleashed a genocidal cataclysm that violently expelled Croatia’s entire Serb population. Dubbed “the most efficient ethnic cleansing we’ve seen in the Balkans” by Swedish politician Carl Bildt, Croat forces rampaged UN-protected areas of the self-declared Serb Republic of Krajina, looting, burning, raping and murdering their way across the province. Up to 350,000 locals fled, many on foot, never to return. Meanwhile, thousands were summarily executed.

 

As these hideous scenes unfolded, UN peacekeepers charged with protecting Krajina watched without intervening. Meanwhile, US officials strenuously denied the horrifying massacres and mass displacement amounted to ethnic cleansing, let alone war crimes. NATO member state governments were far more interested in the “sophistication” of Zagreb’s military tactics. One British colonel heading a UN observer mission in the area gushed, “whoever wrote that plan of attack could have gone to any NATO staff college in North America or Western Europe and scored an A-plus.”

 

Widely overlooked documents reviewed by The Grayzone help explain why Croatian forces were graded so highly: Operation Storm was for all intents and purposes a NATO attack, carried out by soldiers armed and trained by the US and directly coordinated with other Western powers. Despite publicly endorsing a negotiated peace, Washington privately encouraged Zagreb to employ maximum belligerence, even as their ultranationalist Croat proxies plotted to strike with such ferocity that the country’s entire Serb population would “to all practical purposes disappear.”

 

In the midst of talks on a political settlement in Geneva, high-ranking Croat officials privately discussed methods to justify their coming blitzkrieg, including false flag attacks. Assured of their Western patrons’ continued backing amid the bloodshed, Croat leaders boasted that they merely needed to inform their NATO backers in advance of their plans. Once the dust settled and Croatia’s Serb population was entirely cleansed, Croat officials met in secret with US officials to celebrate their “triumph.”

 

Richard Holbrooke, a veteran US diplomat then serving as Assistant Secretary of State in the Bill Clinton administration, told the president of Croatia that while the US “said publicly… that we were concerned” about the situation, “privately, you knew what we wanted.” As one of Holbrooke’s aides wrote in a note the diplomat later reproduced, Croatian forces had been “hired” as Washington’s “junkyard dogs” to destroy Yugoslavia.

 

After expelling the local Serb population, the newly-formed Croat regime could be counted on to exert US dominance not only over the Balkans, but Europe more widely. The ethnic tensions fomented by NATO in the region still simmer, and have been exploited to justify perpetual occupation.

 

The former Yugoslavia remains horribly scarred by Operation Storm. From NATO’s perspective, however, the military campaign provided a blueprint for subsequent proxy conflicts and military strikes. Washington has recreated the strategy of weaponizing extremist foreign fighters as shock troops in an array of theaters, from Syria to Ukraine.

Britain’s leftist Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner reportedly purchased her third home, worth nearly a million dollars amid the growing housing crisis she has been tasked to solve.

 

Ms Rayner, the Labour MP for Ashton-under-Lyne in Greater Manchester and the government’s housing minister, purchased a “luxury seaside” three bedroom apartment in the British beachtown of Britghton earlier this year.

 

The self-described socialist deputy prime minister is said to have paid £700,000 ($947,000) for the property, which represents her third home, alongside her ministerial London flat and her £650,000 ($879,000) home in her constituency, according to a report from The Sun newspaper.

 

The purchase may further undermine Rayner’s public image as a supposed champion of the working class, having been born on a council estate in Manchester.

 

Rayner previously faced criticism over accepting thousands in “freebie” gifts and donations from Labour billionaire donor Lord Ali, including £3,550 worth of free clothes.

Questions have also been raised over her property taxes, with oppostion politicians claiming that she “flipped” her primary residency after entering government to avoid paying the second home higher rate of council tax. She has so far not confirmed if this is the case.

 

Shadow Housing Secretary James Cleverly told the Mail on Sunday: “Angela Rayner is responsible for housing policy, yet she won’t even be straight about her own.

 

“Time and again she’s been asked to declare exactly what properties she owns and where she pays council tax, and time and again she has dodged those questions.

 

“Now we find out she’s got three homes. We’ve done everything possible to get answers, but she still refuses to come clean.

 

“That matters, because this is the same Deputy Prime Minister who has hiked taxes on family homes across the country.”

 

While the leftist politician now has three homes, millions of Britons are struggling to get on the property ladder. According to recent research from the Centre for Policy Studies, the UK currently has 6.5 million homes fewer than needed amid a lack of building and mass migration.

 

Rayner has vowed to build 1.5 million new homes in Britain, however, so far plans have been stalled and home building has fallen to a near decade low under the Labour government.

Researchers measured wireless radiation in Mumbai homes using a Selective Radiation Meter, then divided the infants into high, medium and low-exposure groups. Parents answered neurodevelopmental screening questionnaires every month for a year, assessing skills like stacking blocks or responding to sounds. Statistical analyses confirmed radiation exposure as a key predictor of delays, even after adjusting for variables like socioeconomic status.

 

The radiation thresholds alarmed public health advocates. Homes in the high-exposure group exceeded 32 mW/m²—far surpassing the 1 mW/m² limit deemed “extreme concern” by building biologists, though the FCC allows up to 10,000 mW/m². “These FCC limits are dangerously outdated,” said Fariha Husain of Children’s Health Defense. Engineer Eric Windheim added that such high readings are rare in the U.S. except near cell towers or ultra-connected households.

Speculation is growing that Ghislaine Maxwell could soon be freed. Despite campaigning on the promise to release the Epstein Files, there are increasing signs that the Trump administration is considering pardoning the world’s most notorious convicted sex trafficker.

 

Last month, Trump (who contemplated the idea in his first term in office) repeatedly refused to rule out a pardon, stating to journalists that “I’m allowed to do it.” Just days later, Maxwell was transferred across states to a minimum-security facility in Bryan, Texas—a highly unusual practice. Neither women convicted of sex crimes nor those with more than 10 years remaining on their sentences are generally permitted to be transferred to such facilities. The move sparked equal measures of speculation and outrage.

 

The decision to relocate Maxwell came after somebody—potentially a source within her team itself—began leaking incriminating and embarrassing evidence linking Trump to Epstein. This included a birthday card Trump sent Epstein, featuring a hand-drawn nude woman, accompanied by the text: “Happy Birthday—and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

 

For years, Maxwell aided her partner Jeffrey Epstein in trafficking and raping girls and young women, creating a giant sex crime ring in the process. Epstein’s associates included billionaires, scientists, celebrities, and politicians, including President Trump, whom he considered his “closest friend.”

 

In 2021, two years after Epstein’s mysterious death in a Manhattan prison, Maxwell was found guilty of child sex trafficking offenses and was subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison.

A report published Friday by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classifications (IPC) , the world’s leading authority on food insecurity, for the first time has confirmed a famine in Gaza City. It says more than 500,000 people in Gaza are facing “starvation, destitution and death”, with “catastrophic conditions” projected to expand to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis next month. Nearly 300 people, including 112 children, have died from starvation.

 

European leaders, along with Joe Biden and Donald Trump, remind us of the real lesson of the Holocaust. It is not Never Again, but, We Do not Care. They are full partners in the genocide. Some wring their hands and say they are “appalled” or “saddened.” Some decry Israel’s orchestrated starvation. A few say they will declare a Palestinian state.

 

This is Kabuki theater — a way, when the genocide is over, for these Western leaders to insist they stood on the right side of history, even as they armed and funded the genocidal killers, while harassing, silencing or criminalizing those who decried the slaughter.

‘Resist’ IRS Lawyer Put On Leave After Daily Wire Report On Far-Left Advocacy

The lawyer called for Democrats to pack the Supreme Court.

A top IRS lawyer who once advocated for action to “resist” President Donald Trumphas been placed on administrative leave as officials probe whether he has put his words into action at the powerful tax-collecting agency, The Daily Wire has learned.

 

The inquiry was launched after The Daily Wire reported on Wednesday that Anthony Sacco, a lawyer for the IRS Chief Counsel’s office,has a history of advocating for far-left positions, including fighting back against Trump, whom he now serves under. Sacco holds a key role at the IRS, where he interprets how convoluted federal tax law is applied in specific situations.

 

Sacco was brought on by the Biden administration as a career employee in September 2022. The vast majority of positions at the IRS are considered career roles, with only the commissioner and chief counsel being politically appointed. Before joining the IRS, Sacco worked under Oregon Democratic Senator Ron Wyden for the Senate Finance Committee, according to his LinkedIn.

 

In his role at the IRS, Sacco has co-authored multiple revenue rulings under both Biden and Trump, including as recently as April 17, 2025. Revenue rulings are authoritative IRS interpretations of how tax laws are applied by agency officials.

 

Sacco locked his X account shortly after The Daily Wire reached out to him for comment, but not before his posts were archived. His posts included calls for Democrats to “pack” the Supreme Court as a way to “resist” Trump.

 

“The Republican Party has completely obliterated principles, integrity, and norms. Screw ‘going high.’ Pack the Court. #resist #gop #election#vote #packthecourt,” he posted to X in September 2020 ahead of the vote to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

The disciplinary action came as the Trump administration works to root out government bureaucrats who may attempt to stymie the president’s agenda.

 

On Thursday, Treasury Secretary and Acting IRS Commissioner Scott Bessent received a briefing from IRS officials that included a discussion of the Trump administration’s push to de-weaponize the federal government, the department told The Daily Wire. They discussed Bessent’s desire to make the IRS a non-political agency after years of accusations that it was targeting Christian groups and conservative advocacy organizations.

 

Present at the meeting were IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who investigated Hunter Biden over his shady tax practices. Both Shapley and Ziegler said the Biden administration retaliated against them based on their investigation into Hunter.

When made aware of the posts, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) called for Sacco to be fired.

 

“With deep state leftists in its leadership, it is no wonder the IRS has repeatedly targeted conservatives and conservative organizations,” Cotton told The Daily Wire on Wednesday. “This individual should be fired immediately.”

 

In another post, he shared a call from anthem-kneeler Colin Kaepernick to “abolish” the “white supremacist institution of policing” and another post that claimed “policing is based on race” and that the job itself was “racist.”

Outside of social media, Sacco helped prepare a lengthy academic article published by the Harvard Law Review that argued that prisons should be abolished. In the article, the primary author argued “that white supremacy is deeply woven into the fabric of every legal institution in the United States.”

Gorsuch Gives Rogue Courts The Smackdown They Deserve

America’s lower judiciary is out of control — and Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch is putting it on notice.

 

In a Thursday order, the nation’s highest court granted (in part) a request by the Trump administration to temporarily pause a lower court blockade on the National Institutes of Health’s bid to terminate DEI-related grants totaling nearly $800 million. The ruling was 5-4, with Chief Justice John Roberts and the court’s Democrat appointees saying they would have denied the administration’s application in full.

 

The granting of stay was one of several instances in which the Supreme Court has been asked to weigh in on injunctions issued by (primarily) left-wing district judges. Such orders have often come at the behest of Democrat activists seeking to sabotage the Trump administration via a judicial coup.

 

In addition to signing onto the majority’s Thursday decision,Gorsuch penned a concurring opinion in the case in which he ripped into the lower judiciary’s out-of-control behavior. While noting that “[l]ower court judges may sometimes disagree with this Court’s decisions … they are never free to defy them.”

 

Citing a related case recently before the Supreme Court (Department of Ed. v. California), the Trump appointee highlighted how the high court “granted a stay [in that case] because it found the government likely to prevail in showing that the district court lacked jurisdiction to order the government to pay grant obligations.” He wrote,“Californiaexplained that ‘suits based on “any express or implied contract with the United States”’ do not belong in district court under the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), but in the Court of Federal Claims under the Tucker Act.”

 

“Rather than follow that direction, the district court in this case permitted a suit involving materially identical grants to proceed to final judgment under the APA,” Gorsuch wrote. “As support for its course, the district court invoked the ‘persuasive authority’ of ‘the dissent[s] in California‘ and an earlier court of appeals decision California repudiated … That was error.”

 

Gorsuch went on to underscore that “the promise of our legal system that like cases are treated alike means that a lower court ought not invoke the ‘persuasive authority’ of a dissent or a repudiated court of appeals decision to reach a different conclusion on an equivalent record.”More to the point, however, he noted that the district court’s apparent rebuke of the precedent very recently established by SCOTUS in the California case is not an isolated incident among the lower courts.

 

“If the district court’s failure to abide by California were a one-off, perhaps it would not be worth writing to address it.But two months ago another district court tried to ‘compel compliance’ with a different ‘order that this Court ha[d] stayed,'” Gorsuch wrote.“Still another district court recently diverged from one of this Court’s decisions even though the case at hand did not differ ‘in any pertinent respect’ from the one this Court had decided… So this is now the third time in a matter of weeks this Court has had to intercede in a case ‘squarely controlled’ by one of its precedents.”

 

The Trump appointee concluded his concurrence by laying down a marker in the sand that, regardless of their personal opinions, lower court judges are obligated to abide by the Supreme Court’s guidance and the existing constitutional framework.

 

“All these interventions should have been unnecessary, but together they underscore a basic tenet of our judicial system: Whatever their own views, judges are duty-bound to respect ‘the hierarchy of the federal court system created by the Constitution and Congress,'” Gorsuch wrote.

 

Gorsuch was joined in his opinion by Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who concurred in part and dissented in part, according to Thursday’s order.

U.S. Approved Sale Of Thousands Of Especially-Crafted Long-Range Missiles To Ukraine

 

The administration of United States President Donald Trump had approved the sale of 3,350 especially-designed, long-range missiles to Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on August 24.

 

The sale will be a part of a $850 million arms package largely funded by European countries and includes other items, according to the newspaper, which noted that the deliveries of the missile, officially codenamed Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM), should begin within around six weeks.

 

WSJ said that approval of the sale was delayed until after Trump held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It also revealed that Ukraine will have to get the approval of the Pentagon every time it wants to use the new missile.

 

While WSJ provided some details on the ERAM, a closer look at the missile came last month from Aviation Week, which reviewed documents on the project released in open access.

 

The ERAM is basically a hybrid of a guided aerial bomb and a small-sized cruise missile. It has a 260-kilogram warhead, with armor-piercing or high-explosive action. The estimated range is 463 kilometers, the minimum speed is Mach 0.6 or 740 kilometers per hour.

 

It’s worth noting here that the range of the missile is just enough to allow Ukraine to target the Russian capital, Moscow.

 

According to Aviation Week, developers expect the ERAM to show hit accuracy within ten meters of the target and its guidance systems to operate normally under active electronic warfare suppression.

 

Both WSJ and Aviation Week said that the missile will be launched from air, without specifying if it will be deployed from the Ukrainian Air Force American-made F-16 fighters jets only, or also integrated on newly-delivered French-made Mirage 2000 fighter jets and remaining Soviet-era warplanes.

 

Interestingly, the documents reviewed by Aviation Week lists the U.S. Air Force as the customer, and says that the inquiry for development was submitted on January 31, 2024.

 

However, the most unusual part is the development timeline and production pace: mass manufacture is slated to start no later than 24 months after the contract has been awarded, with an expected annual output of up to 1,000 units. This suggests that the U.S. will not be able to fulfill the sale to Ukraine within weeks as reported by WSJ.

 

The report on the missile sale came just days after Ukraine unveiled a locally-made, ground-launched cruise missile dubbed Flamingo with an alleged range of 3,000 kilometers and a warhead weighing around 1,150 kg. Kiev said that it was planning to produce seven such missiles a day in two months.

 

These recent developments appear to be a part of efforts meant to put more pressure on Russia as it prepares to engage in higher-level talks with Ukraine.

 

Both the ERAM and Flamingo should be considered a serious threat. Nevertheless, there are grounds to question the specifications of these missiles, and the projected production.

We saw him do that with active duty Marines on the streets of Los Angeles. Johnson said, “Well, again, you know, the city of Chicago does not need a military occupied state that that is that’s not who we are. I commend the work of Mayor Bass, my colleague, and and, you know, all the folks in Los Angeles who stood up and fought, you know, against this, you know, authoritarianism.Here’s the bottom line. they don’t have police power. There’s nothing they can do. you know, these are federal troops, they do not go through the training that our police officers go through. So they cannot even enact police authority.”

 

He continued, “The president has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to what, arrest nine people in D.C.? According to a report published Wednesday by the Williams Institute, a research organization focused on sexual orientation and gender identity issues, 76 percent of transgender-identifying individuals in the United States are younger than 35, with 25 percent between the ages of 13 and 17. That means an estimated 724,000 teenagers identify as transgender.

 

Researchers based their findings on survey data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, combined with statistical modeling.

 

“Younger generations are more likely to identify as transgender, and we expect that trend to continue,” said lead author Jody Herman in a statement. “Youth and young adults are more likely to identify as transgender due to a variety of factors, including a greater willingness among younger individuals to disclose that they identify as transgender on surveys.”

 

The Williams Institute has tracked the number of people identifying as transgender since at least 2011. In 2022, it estimated the figure at 1.6 million.

 

The report said racial and ethnic breakdowns among transgender-identifying individuals closely mirror those of the broader US population. Among adults who identify as transgender, 33 percent identify as transgender women, 34 percent as transgender men, and 33 percent as nonbinary.

 

The Trump administration has moved to remove questions regarding gender identity from federal surveys. Earlier this year, the Census Bureau director dropped gender identity questions from its surveys following an executive order from President Donald Trump.

 

Andrew Flores, one of the report’s authors, criticized the decision to remove such questions from national surveys.

 

“Federal datasets that include questions about sexual orientation and gender identity have provided critical information to researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and the public,” Flores argued. “Removal of these questions from federal surveys — such as the BRFSS and the YRBS — would significantly hinder the ability of researchers to assess the health, experiences, and needs of transgender people in the United States.”

Report: Boston Police Secretly Helping ICE Nab Illegals Behind Mayor Wu’s Ban

Wu has been prominent among the many extremist Democrat mayors who are openly rebelling against federal immigration law, welcoming illegal aliens, and demanding that her administration block the enforcement efforts of ICE and other federal law enforcement officials.

 

But, if Lyons’ comments can be believed, many Boston police officers are engaging in a rebellion of their own.

 

“They can’t cooperate openly out of fear of getting in trouble or getting fired. But they’re helping us anyway,” Lyons said on the Howie Carr Show on Wednesday.

 

Lyons added that Boston is not the only city where police officers are quietly aiding ICE.

 

“That’s the issue we’re seeing in so many jurisdictions,” Lyons continued. “We have so many men and women on the Boston Police Department and other jurisdictions that are so pro-ICE, that want to work with usand that are actually helping us behind the scenes.”

 

“And that’s what I think local leaders don’t understand, is they need to talk to the men and women on the ground, because… there are so many of these criminal aliens that keep getting released to go out and commit more crimes that the local law enforcement have to deal with. We can take that violent criminal alien instantly out of the neighborhood,” he added.

 

Meanwhile, Wu is hyperbolically accusing ICE officers of being something akin to neo-Nazis or being Trump’s “secret police.”

 

Lyons, though, is unimpressed with Wu’s name calling and recently said he and his department intends to “flood the zone” to enforce immigration law despite Wu’s censures.

 

“We’re definitely going to, as you’ve heard the saying, flood the zone, especially in sanctuary jurisdictions,” Lyons told Carr.

 

“Boston and Massachusetts decided to say that they wanted to stay sanctuary,” Lyons told the conservative talker. “Sanctuary does not mean safer streets. It means more criminal aliens out and about the neighborhood. But 100%, you will see a larger ICE presence.”

European Postal Services Suspend Shipment of Packages to US over Tariffs

ATHENS, Greece (AP) – Multiple postal services around Europe announced Saturday that they are suspending the shipment of many packages to the United States amid a lack of clarity over new import duties.

 

Postal services in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Italy said they will stop shipping most merchandise to the U.S. effective immediately. France and Austria will follow Monday, and the United Kingdom Tuesday.

 

Under a decree signed by President Donald Trump last month, international goods that were previously exempt from U.S. tariffs – those valued under $800 – will be subject to import duties from Aug. 29. Letters, books, gifts and small parcels worth less than $100 will continue to be exempt.

 

A trade framework agreed by the U.S. and the European Union last month set a 15% tariff on the vast majority of products shipped from the EU.

 

Many European postal services say they are pausing deliveries now because they cannot guarantee the goods will enter the U.S. before Aug. 29.They cite ambiguity about what kind of goods are covered by the new rules, and the lack of time to process their implications.

 

Starting Saturday, Deutsche Post and DHL Parcel Germany said they “will no longer be able to accept and transport parcels and postal items containing goods from business customers destined for the US.”

 

Postnord, the Nordic logistics company, and Italy’s postal service announced similar suspensions effective Saturday.

“In the absence of different instructions from US authorities … Poste Italiane will be forced, like other European postal operators, to temporarily suspend acceptance of all shipments containing goods destined for the United States, starting August 23. Mail shipments not containing merchandise will continue to be accepted,” Poste Italiane said Friday.

 

Shipping by services such as DHL Express remains possible, it added.

 

Björn Bergman, head of PostNord’s Group Brand and Communication, said the pause was “unfortunate but necessary to ensure full compliance of the newly implemented rules.”

 

In the Netherlands, PostNL spokesperson Wout Witteveen said the Trump administration is pressing ahead with the new duties despite U.S. authorities lacking a system to collect them. He said that PostNL is working closely with its U.S. counterparts to find a solution.

 

“If you have something to send to America, you should do it today,” Witteveen told The Associated Press.

 

Austrian Post, Austria’s leading logistics and postal service provider, stated that the last acceptance of commercial shipments to the U.S., including Puerto Rico, will take place Tuesday.

 

France’s national postal service, La Poste, said the U.S. did not provide full details or allow enough time for the French postal service to prepare for new customs procedures.

 

“Despite discussions with U.S. customs services, no time was provided to postal operators to re-organize and assure the necessary computer updates to conform to the new rules,” it said in a statement.

 

The UK’s Royal Mail said it would halt U.S. shipments on Tuesday “to allow time for those packages to arrive before duties kick in.” Items originating in the U.K. will require a 10% duty for items over $100, it said.

 

PostEurop, an association of 51 European public postal operators, said that if no solution can be found by Aug. 29 all its members will likely follow suit.
