Investigators are “reasonably confident” that the suspect, identified by police as Patrick Wood Crusius, 21, of Texas, posted the diatribe on the extremist online forum 8chan before the shooting.

The document was deleted from one of 8chan's forums after the shooting began, but forum users archived the post, which contained a link to a PDF version.

The note cites the Christchurch, New Zealand, mosque shooter, an anti-immigrant white supremacist who left 51 dead in March, as an inspiration. The Christchurch shooter also linked to a livestream of his attack on Facebook, and posted that link to 8chan.

Anonymous online sites have become go-to sites for mass shooters to deposit their statements of purpose before embarking on mass murder. One month after the Christchurch shooter, a copycat who killed one person at a San Diego synagogue, also left a note on 4chan, a sister site to 8chan.

Users on the 8chan forum where the note appeared frequently write about their belief in a coming race war, plus anti-immigrant, racist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. White nationalist literature, slogans and images are mainstays. User posts on the message board following the incident referred to the suspect as a "martyr."

Anon can’t pay water bill this month. Paid $80 still owe 40 n they want to charge a $25 fee if they have to shut it off.. (I’ve paid in full n most the time a penny over so I don’t owe the fuckers. The U.S. Treasury Department said its measures targeted 13 entities based in Hong Kong, China, the United Arab Emirates and the Marshall Islands, as well as eight vessels. The designations focused on Greek national Antonios Margaritis and his network of companies and crude oil tankers accused of transporting Iranian petroleum exports in violation of U.S. sanctions.

 

Treasury named Ares Shipping Limited in Hong Kong, Comford Management in the Marshall Islands and Hong Kong Hangshun Shipping Limited among the entities hit. Crude tankers added to the list include the Panama-flagged Adeline G and Kongm, and the Lafit registered in Sao Tome and Principe.

Separately, the U.S. State Department said it sanctioned two China-based terminal and storage operators for handling imports of Iranian oil carried on tankers already under sanctions. The firms were identified as Qingdao Port Haiye Dongjiakou Oil Products Co. in Shandong province and Yangshan Shengang International Petroleum Storage and Transportation Co. in Zhejiang province.

Britain also announced parallel measures, sanctioning Iranian oil magnate Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani — the son of a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — and four companies in the shipping, petrochemical and financial sectors. The Foreign Office said the sanctions, which include an asset freeze and a travel ban on Shamkhani, were aimed at disrupting a global network that supports Iran’s overseas operations, including activities in Ukraine and against Israel.

“Iran’s reliance on revenues from trading networks and connected organizations enables it to carry out its destabilizing activities, including supporting proxies and partners across the region and facilitating state threats on UK soil,” Britain’s Minister for the Middle East Hamish Falconer said.

Leading Russian Drone Manufacturer Faces Financial Turmoil

 

One of Russia’s leading drone manufacturers is facing serious financial difficulties that have brought it to the brink of bankruptcy, the CNews news website has reported.

 

Kronstadt, known for its Orion and Inokhodets drones used for both military and civilian purposes, has been hit with 40 lawsuits totaling 626.3 million rubles ($7.8 million, according to spot foreign exchange market data published by Reuters) over the past three months.

 

The largest claims came from Innovative Technologies and Materials (151.1 million rubles) and the Research Institute of Modern Telecommunications Technologies (220.6 million rubles).

 

Kronstadt itself faced an attempted bankruptcy filing by Turbodjet Micro in August 2023.

 

The company’s most recent publicly available financial figures, from 2020, showed a revenue of 2 billion rubles ($24.9 million) and a net loss of 3.6 billion rubles ($44.8 million).

 

“The situation could lead to bankruptcy,” Nikolai Ryashin, CEO of drone service company RusDronPort, told CNews. “Subcontractors who provided services or delivered products without receiving payment are now filing lawsuits en masse to enter the creditors’ registry.”

 

Sources in the Russian drone market told CNews that Kronstadt has struggled financially for the past two years.

 

A key factor was the 2022 exit of AFK Sistema, the company’s former strategic investor and primary source of funding.

 

“Losing that financial backing sharply reduced access to capital and increased debt pressure,” one source told CNews. “Without that ‘wallet,’ the company was left to handle cash shortfalls on its own.”

 

Additional strains have come from international sanctions and rising component costs.

 

Representatives of Kronstadt did not respond to CNews’ requests for comment.

Brent Hinds, the former singer-guitarist for the Grammy-winning heavy metal band Mastodon, has died in a motorcycle accident in Atlanta, the band and authorities said. He was 51.

 

Hinds was killed while riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle late Wednesday night when the driver of a BMW SUV failed to yield while making a turn, according to Atlanta police. Hinds was described as “unresponsive” at the scene.

 

“We are heartbroken, shocked and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we’ve shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many,” the band said on social media.

 

Mastodon had three albums rise into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart and two that topped the Rock Album chart — “Emperor of Sand” in 2017 and “Once More ’round the Sun” in 2014.

 

Hinds co-founded Mastodon in 2000 with bassist Troy Sanders, guitarist Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor. Mastodon’s third studio album, 2006’s “Blood Mountain,” was their first to reach the Top 40, peaking at No. 32 on the Billboard 200.

 

Hinds left the band in March 2025. No reason for the departure was given. The band said they had “mutually decided to part ways,” but comments made by Hinds on Instagram indicated a rocky relationship with the members of his former band.

 

“We’re deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared and we wish him nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors,” the band said at the time.

 

Mastodon — which forged ferocious metal, progressive wizardry and sludge rock tendencies — earned six Grammy Award nominations, winning one in 2017 for best metal performance for “Sultan’s Curse” from the album “Emperor of Sand.”

 

Rolling Stone magazine listed Mastodon’s 2011 album “The Hunter” among its best off the year, saying the band had “streamlined their molten thrash into a taut thwump that doesn’t pull back one bit on their natural complexity of innate weirdness.”

 

Hinds was due to tour Europe later this year with Fiend Without a Face, a band that was once a side project during his years with Mastodon.

Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, California will not let you submit an application for employment unless you speak Spanish. I'm looking for a groundskeeper/Laborer job/Cutting Grass/Hauling trash/Tree trimming at Forest Lawn but I don't speak Spanish because I'm an American, so they won't take my application. WASHINGTON — The State Department said Thursday that it's reviewing the records of more than 55 million foreigners who hold valid U.S. visas for potential revocation or deportable violations of immigration rules.

 

In a written answer to a question posed by The Associated Press, the department said that all U.S. visa holders are subject to "continuous vetting" with an eye toward any indication that they could be ineligible for the document.

 

Should such information be found, the visa will be revoked and, if the visa holder is in the United States, he or she would be subject to deportation.

 

The department said it was looking for indicators of ineligibility, including visa overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, engaging in any form of terrorist activity, or providing support to a terrorist organization.

 

"We review all available information as part of our vetting, including law enforcement or immigration records or any other information that comes to light after visa issuance indicating a potential ineligibility," the department said.

 

Since President Donald Trump took office in January, his administration has thus far focused on deporting migrants illegally in the United States as well as holders of student and visitor exchange visas. The State Department's new language suggests that the re-vetting process, which officials acknowledge is time-consuming, is far more widespread.

 

The administration has steadily imposed more and more restrictions and requirements on visa applicants, including requiring all visa seekers to submit to in-person interviews.

 

But the review of all visa holders appears to be a significant expansion of what had initially been a re-vetting process focused mainly on students who have been involved in pro-Palestinian or anti-Israel activity.

 

Officials say the reviews will include all the visa holders' social media accounts, law enforcement and immigration records in their home countries, along with any actionable violations of U.S. law committed while they were in the United States.

 

"As part of the Trump Administration's commitment to protect U.S. national security and public safety, since Inauguration Day the State Department has revoked more than twice as many visas, including nearly four times as many student visas, as during the same time period last year," the department said.

 

Earlier this week, the department said that since Trump returned to the White House, it has revoked more than 6,000 student visas for overstays and violations of local, state and federal law, the vast majority of which were assault, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and support for terrorism.

 

It said that about 4,000 of those 6,000 were due to actual infractions of laws and that approximately 200–300 visas were revoked for terrorism-related issues, including providing support for designated terrorist organizations or state sponsors of terrorism.
